South Place Hotel, 3 South Pl, London EC2M 2AF, United Kingdom
Angler is a Michelin-starred restaurant atop the five-star, South Place Hotel in Moorgate with a beautiful rooftop terrace. The menus celebrate seafood from British waters and the best seasonal produce. Angler is currently closed while we prepare for an exciting new chapter this autumn. We will reopen from 4th September and can't wait to welcome you back. You can still book online for September and beyond via OpenTable.
I went for my birthday, I didn't make a reservation and they were still able to give me a table, treating me super well, all the waitresses, especially Carla, who also spoke to us in Spanish, adapting to us. I am very happy with the service and the food, I would definitely go back again. And they also gave me special treatment because it was my birthday. They are very attentive.
Angler Restaurant - South Place Hotel We had a truly wonderful experience at Angler. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome, creating a warm and relaxed atmosphere that set the tone for the evening. They were exceptionally accommodating of our young baby, which made the experience all the more enjoyable for our family. The food was nothing short of exceptional, with every dish crafted to perfection and beautifully presented. A particular highlight was the native lobster ravioli, which was a generous portion of excellent quality meat. A special mention goes to the sommelier, who was outstanding. His knowledge and professionalism were truly impressive, and he went above and beyond to recommend quality wines that complemented our meal perfectly. What stood out was his focus on finding excellent wines at fair prices, rather than relying on expensive, well-known labels. It was refreshing to see this level of care and expertise. Overall, Angler provided us with an unforgettable dining experience. Whether you're looking for exquisite food, impeccable service, or thoughtful wine pairings, this is a place that delivers on every level. Highly recommended!
Well thought through and well presented dishes! The place is not too crowded, and luckily relatively quiet. Finally a Michelin experience that one does not need to book weeks in advance.
Best meal we have in London during this trip! We chose to come here because despite their Michelin star, they have choice of "tasting menu" or "a la cart". And we did not regret. Impressed with every dish especially their courtesy appetizers, very interesting and delicious. We would love to come back if we have a chance.
A 5 star Michelin starred hidden gem in the heart of the City! Excellent service, a relaxed vibe, great menu, food presented beautifully, incredible flavours. I have been to dinner there as a couple and returned as part of a group for a private dining experience. Excellent wine menu.
We had the best time celebrating a birthday dinner! Among the best service we’ve ever experienced in a London restaurant. Food was amazing and the testing menu is definitely a good choice. For 2 ppl the bill ended up £430+ which we thought was fair - wouldn’t go everyday obviously but it’s great for a special occasion!
Pretty good experience of tasting menu, specialised on seafoods, with great view and atmosphere of the restaurant. All the amuse bouche had a very strong taste, not sure if it was necessary if the mains are mostly fish, only one of the bites were still memorable. Very good appetisers, great sauces and uses of asparagus was impressive. Mains were great too, especially cod was my favourite, so soft yet firm meat with great flavour, was a fantastic piece. Desserts were just average. Service was very quick as the restaurant was very empty, the waiters/waitress had a strong accent which made hard to understand when they were describing the dish, which is not a big deal however they could have smiled a bit more often as it felts very cold. Overall, was expecting more from this restaurant but I guess the standard of 1 Michelin star has gone down which is disappointing.
Come hungry and despite small portions, you will leave full. Every single bite is like a massage for one's brain.
The food was great but the service was very unpleasant. Very Very rushed: The waiter hurried us through the courses (In the middle of our first plate, he was already there to give us our 2nd plate, we were enjoying the bread and whilst holding to eat the bread, they moved our bread plate from the middle to one side to set the scene for the next plate, also the way he asked us if we have finished our food was very aggressive) Rude: I had a piece of clean tissue put on the table. Whilst I was having my carrot cake dish, the waiter suddenly came to me with a grey tin, and I was really confused and thought he was passing me something to add onto my plate, I almost put my hand in the bin, but I asked him sorry, what is this? He turned the bin to me and I just saw a tin full of papers, tissues, receipts and he then pointed to my tissue without saying a single word whilst I am half way through my dessert. This has left me very unpleasant. I am still very shocked to the service I received from the restaurant.
We visited Angler 3 years before and were absolutely amazed. This time we were unfortunately disapointed. It was crafted properly, so not bad, but in terms of a michelin star i am expecting more. There was not one dish we were delighted. The lobster ravioli were too spicy, the fish dishes uninspired and boring. It was Ok good food, but far away from deserving a star or the price tag coming along for a stared restaurant. The chef changed since our last visit we were told. We expressed our disapointment and they put a discount on the bill, what was a fair gesture. Hope for Angler it gets back to the old level.
Amazing tastes, portions very small compared similar types of places. Would be 4/5 stars if they gave e.g. 2 scallops instead of 1 lol. 8 strands of noodles instead of 4 lmao. You get the point.
I really liked this restaurant, cozy atmosphere, delicious food and reasonable prices.
Very very awesome food!!! Worth of your money Wonderful service! Exellent choice for celebrating very special occasions!! Food : 5/5
Fantastic meal at Angler with the eight course tasting menu. A great experience where every dish shined.
Located in South Place Hotel on the rooftop floor, Angler is a 1* Michelin fine dining restaurant and imo, deservedly so. Friendly service in relaxed surroundings on the outdoor terrace, attention to detail, tried their taster menu, and found some interesting and beautifully well presented dishes and flavours served at timely intervals.
The food was exquisite reflecting an obvious pride in its creation. Compliments to the chef. The staff were wonderful and engaging.Worth the experience!
Michelin starred gem in London.
Amazing experience at Angler. I am a fish lover and if you are too, it is a must-try in London!
We had a really great experience on Friday 21st June. My partner and I both had the taster menu and I had the wine paring. The food was delicious as youd expect. However, the most outstanding part was the wine pairing experience. John the sommelier, was very friendly, knowledgeable and caring. Each of the wines he had picked were unique (the Amphora Sauvignon Blanc was creamy and extremely delicious) and were the real highlight of the entire experience. The ambience of the restaurant was modern and we had beautiful views to the city.
A lovely business lunch, service was a little slow and the restaurant was not particularly full, but the food was exquisite.
Both being retired, we tend to shop around for more affordable dining offers nowadays. However it was hubby s birthday, so took him here as a treat (via Travelzoo). Was pleasantly surprised that we still qualified for the fab tasting menu - with a lovely glass of English Sparkling wine. Food was delicious & staff were delightful. The place is to have a makeover in late summer, but was still a pleasant enough venue - as was. Big shout out to Pierre & Dinesh (waiting staff); plus Anna (floor manager); Ishita (receptionist) & last, but by no means least, Jess (Mixologist Extraordinaire). Thanks for a great evening!
What a discovery! From the warm welcome to the start, it was a succession of pleasant surprises. The food was tasty and exquisite. The service was up to scratch, and we appreciated the attention we received from the team. Special thanks to Anna, Dinesh and John.
Beautiful terrace and amazing food. We had the taster menu every course was amazing. Service was first class .
Amazing food complemented with great service. Wish I took the names of the servers but lady from Puglia was so good and made the experience special. Thanks
Visited using a Travelzoo voucher and loved it! Delicious food, delicately served and perfectly balanced. Stunning views, relaxed, elegant and friendly and professional service. I would love to be back!
Enjoyed our 3 course lunch menu on Easter Friday at Angler (1 Michelin). We used our TravelZoo voucher (£55 per person including a glass of wine) On the 7th floor. Excellent service also. We were served with several amuse-bouche. We enjoyed the bread, sea bass tartare and the cod. The dessert was excellent too. Would come back for their dinner tasting menu. I shall reappraise again.
So went here for a meal and what a meal it was. We opted for the 9 course tasting menu. My wife is a pescatarian but this was no issue which was delt with by the staff and her 9 courses altered as needed. Food was amazing good vibes. Would highly recommend.
The dessert is very nice, one of the mains is fantastic.
I won a charity bid on a night and 6 course dinner at Angler. The winning bid, £701 clearly stated a 6course meal. We got our menu and it only showed 4 courses and bread and some snacks, not 6 courses. The balance was starter, main and 2 deserts which is also unbalanced. The snacks and starter were delicious. The cod main, was cold and the cod unseasoned. It was very disappointing. The first desert was delicious the second looked fantastic but the inset was frozen and when you put the spoon in it all collapsed. The choux pastry was also tough. So over all less than we expected and poorly executed. The whole menu was served in 60 mins as well. Felt rushed as we finished our wine. Not what I would expect from a long standing Michelin starred restaurant.
Angler offers solid modern British food with a heavy emphasis on seafood. Execution varies from solid to exceptional. However, a few aspects of service detracted from the overall experience. Specifically, an alcoholic drink was served instead of the requested non-alcoholic option. Additionally, a allergy restriction communicated beforehand was not fully acknowledged, with an allergenic ingredient being highlighted when the dish was explained. The pacing of the meal could also be improved, as courses arrived inconsistently, sometimes very quickly in succession or with long delays. Furthermore, inconsistent plating and a lack of attention to detail fell short of what one would expect from a fine dining establishment. With some additional training and focus on detail, Angler has the potential to be an exceptional fine dining establishment.
One of the best tasting menus we ve had. Innovative and not too filling. Super quality service from the team.
We were there for a Wine Society 150 yrs celebration. Delicious food, perfectly cooked cod. Took our own wine. Great service.
Ok, youll need to take out a second mortgage, but the food is exquisite. Closer to art than simply a meal. We went at lunch: the restaurant was less than half full but still had a nice atmosphere. Great terrace overlooking the neighbouring offices. Took the tasting menu: 7 courses plus 3 rounds of amuse bouche, that took us over 4 hours to enjoy. No accompanying wine flight on offer.
Fantastic fish menu.
Very good atmosphere, good service. Food was not the expected level.
We went there for lunch on a Friday. They dont have lunch menu so same menu all day. Tasting menu is £155 and à la carte is also available. We want to try turbot fish Which is not on the tasting menu so we went à la carte -two appetizers and two mains. Prawn and squid ink cracker is really tasty and little spicy on the top. The Devon crab is really fresh with wasabi and lime. The Langoustines succulent texture and rich truffle taste mix together omg so good. The turbots tender and flaky just melt in my mouth. The monkfish with winter cabbage is also not bad. There are some complementary sweet at the end. Overall the service is excellent. It remains MICHELIN-starred Restaurants level. It is one of the best seafood restaurants in London. I would love to come back.
Whilst the food was delicious, the service was really meh. The servers first dropped one of our starters on the floor, which they then replaced, but it wasn t off to a good start. It was alright throughout the course but towards the end of the course, the restaurant started to get busy. The time between our last main and pre-dessert was WAY TOO LONG. This was probably due to the sudden increase in customers but then again the time between which the courses were served were not at all standardized! (And we really wanted to go home then) Most importantly, I felt a big difference in the way the server treated us and the table beside us! We are asian, but we speak English well (though I myself have a slight American accent, I have not had any instance whereby anyone in the UK had difficulty understanding what I was saying). The server only did the bare minimum that he had to do, never asked us about our meal, and seemed really unwilling and impatient with us. Bare in mind, the restaurant was quite empty at this point! We were one of the only 3 tables he was serving! At first I thought I was overthinking it. It was until a table of 4, who were visibly European, sat beside our table. THE SAME SERVER had so small talks, were smiling with them and the difference in the way that we were treated when compared to them was jarring and honestly it really damped the experience. The service charge was a big one, 15%, and I couldn t believe we were charged this much for such bad service. I couldn t help but to believe that the server was a little racist! Not only to us, but to the few asian tables around us too! He only spoke to the tables who were visibly Europeans and proceeded to not interact with the tables with Asian customers. On and all, the food is great but don t expect great service from them I guess.
We had a lovely lunch and each course was fantastic. The staff were lovely and attentive. Highly recommended!
Excellent presentation and varied flavors for every course. The snacks that come with every meal were unique and divine. I recommend the desert tasting menu. Although the meals are pricey, the restaurant provides a good value given the high quality.
We had the lunch menu and it was some of the nicest food anywhere in London and excellent value. We will be back!
Never had a bad meal. The crab starter is amazing, and there is always an English white wine on the list!
The waitstaff were perfectly friendly and welcoming but the food was incredibly disappointing, bland, and unimaginative. Getting through the tasting menu was a real chore and the wine pairings were mediocre at best. I did not end up finishing any of my plates except the venison and the (excellent) pre-dessert and I am fairly certain I did not have more than a sip of any of the wine. Swing and a miss - felt sorry for wasting my time as there as so many delightful restaurants in London.
Vegetarian option is as good as the non-vegetarian option! Very impressed
A delightful tasting menu full of fresh seafood. I am especially happy with the citrus and herbal flavors that played complementary roles with the fish, crab, and langoustine. By far the standout dish was the fresh codfish. It was fluffy, flaky, lightly buttery, and immaculate. Our dinner party was sure that it was the best cod fish we have tasted ever. A very close call was the crab with lime sorbet. The flavors were just astounding and invigorating. It made me celebrate with giddiness on the spot. Service was excellent with our party left with nothing wanting.
Weve been lucky enough to have eaten at 50+ michelin star restaurants throughout the UK and mainland Europe and this was, without a shadow of a doubt, the worst one yet. Some positives first. The staff were all incredibly friendly and tried their best, and the food, overall, was presented in an aesthetically pleasing way. The sommelier also knew his stuff and the pairings overall were good. However, thats where the positive elements end. We arrived a few minutes early and were sat on the terrace while our table was being prepared, we subsequently waited for about 30 mins and had to chase up our table as we were starving. The first 15-20 mins at the table were bizarre, one of the waiters placed a glass which another waiter cleared, the same thing happened again only a few mins later, they struggled getting the menu right for my partner who had certain dietary requirements (I discussed this with the restaurant before booking and I was assured it wont be an issue). After about 45 mins of being in the restaurant, we finally received some bread. The subsequent courses were fine but took on average 45 mins each to arrive and one of them was so overpoweringly drowned in horseradish that it was inedible (my partner has never sent food back in her life until now). As we got into the 4th hour at the restaurant and still not even halfway through the 6/7 course menu, we decided that it was time to go. The staff were kind enough to charge us a la carte for the pre-paid menu and refund the initial deposit but we did get charged full price for the wine pairings (we had 3 out of 6/7 glasses), all of which were by the glass/coravin, so that somewhat negated the generosity on the food bill. There are so many wonderful restaurants in London, please do not waste your money at Angler and go almost anywhere else for better food and service. A few favourites in the fine dining category listed below. Turnips with Tomas Lidakevicius Dinner by Heston La Dame De Pic Akoko Noizé Cabotte
The tasting menu is incredible, food and service was great! Such a good spot for lunch! The decor is very stripped back and simple so it s all about the food!
Fine dining with some incredibly complex yet balanced dishes. Ok service, Not a fan of the modern and a bit soulless decor.
Good 1 Michelin star restaurant. Dish that lived up to expectations. Too bad that only one menu is imposed. (No à la carte choice or vegetarian menu
I had a very enjoyable dinner here with some fabulous food and drink. Our table wasnt ready when we arrived, but we were seated in the bar and offered a drink.
We had the tasting menu, with wine pairings, which I cant recommend highly enough! It was our first visit to a Michelin restaurant, and all the staff made us feel at home quickly. The pace of dinner was great; with seven courses, we were left looking forward to the next course while never feeling overly full, but left not wanting more. One of the surprising highlights was the bread and butter! The caramelised yeast and malt butter was stunning. The wines offered a lovely selection of white pairings. The wine pairings were a great way to explore some wines for my guests, with there being a varied selection of tasting profiles. The atmosphere was quiet for a Friday night in London. There were never more than five tables on at any one time.
Amazing food and service!
Just had an amazing meal at The Angler. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. What a wonderful experience.
Had the tasting menu for lunch. Absolutely exceptional cooking from start to finish. Gary s food shines with every dish- can t recommend more, get yourselves down here. Impeccable service from Jo and Daniele. Thanks so much we can t wait to come back
Went for Lunch on Tuesday and had the Tasting menu. Had high expectations, knowing they had 1 michelin star, but even this could not prepare me for the level of care and attention of every facet of this experience. From the moment we were welcomed by their friendly team to the moment we left, there was no stone left unturned. All of the waiting staff were friendly and personable and went out their way to make us feel welcome and informed about all of the dishes, a special shoutout to Jo whos service was flawless and the Sommelier Daniele whos wine recommendations added an extra level to the experience. As for the food, Gary and his brigade put together an exceptionally well rounded tasting menu, in my eyes it was faultless and with every bite you could see and taste the level of care and attention that went into each dish, i would go as far to say that it was a transcendent experience and the whole thing left me speechless - in the best possible way. Words cannot do this restaurant justice, you simply must go and eat here. I will be back Thanks again
7 course tasting menu took over 3 hours. 20-30 min between some courses. Had to rush our last 2 courses and completely skip the last. Had to fight for a measles 10% discount to the bill. Excuses included it was a busy night - I m sorry, for a £135 tasting menu I expect nothing less than perfect operations.
Service is appalling. Do NOT waste your money and time on Angler I reserved a table for two people on a Tuesday evening. It was not busy - maybe 4 other tables in the restaurant - we were seated immediately by front of house. We waited and waited and waited... - We sat there for 15 minutes before I flagged down a server to come take our order. We ordered the tasting menu paired with wine. They screwed up our order...The service is a joke - The first course and second courses came without wine. When we asked where our wine pairings were the runner said theyd ask and never came back. We could hear them arguing in the back and realised that they had forgotten. The male server did not apologize and was incredibly glum. I asked the server 3x times for the tasting menu and instead of giving it he wanted to know the reason I needed one - I told him I wanted to know what courses were being served. - When he FINALLY gave me the menu it was the wrong one so I asked the italian wine sommalier. The menu did not reflect what we were served which I guess makes sense why the server didnt want to give me one. Pros The food was tasty and nicely presented Cons The service was an absolute joke The restaurant lacks ambience and looks directly into office buildings The food was tasty but im sure better if it came with the wine pairings we ordered it with!!!! The verdict Dont do it. Just dont. The food is nice but not great and the service is the worst. They have availability for a reason. Spend your money elsewhere.
A demanding and difficult day inclusive of limited time for a planned lunch meeting at The Angler was transformed from unbearable to memorable by the staff at The Angler. A couple of lunch timing and attendee challenges were met and swiftly negated by a masterclass in hospitality which is rare even at Michelin restaurants. A huge thank you to Jo and the team who were on duty Wed 8th 1215 who adeptly managed my booking which could have been disastrous but was finessed into excellence. That coupled with service and gastronomy more than qualified for any premium rating has ensured return visits by myself, my business guests and anybody who I can make the recommendation to. Well done and thank you!
Exquisite food, excellent service and nice rooftop views
Couldnt recommend this place enough the most amazing food and service. Probably one of the best meals Ive ever had. Cant wait to come back and bring someone else for a special treat.
We were given dinner for a gift. Food, ambience, service were all perfect.
Menu felt limited (just my opinion). Food was very good, though small. It was great for business as food does not get in the way. I would not dread going back but would not rush back either.
We had yesterday an informal dinner at the kitchen table. The scenery is nice with a good view. What isn t up to the reputation is the service . Very disappointing throughout the evening in terms of attention and explanation The real issue though was the food which was really below expectations. Both sea bass tartare and boiled cod were very basic . For all of us an avoid
Fun and delicious meal. The courses you choose are intertwined with tasting bits that put together interesting flavors. All dishes carefully prepared and excellent service (even if it took a while to get our first drink despite the place being empty when we got there. I enjoyed the Devon crab (spicy with the wasabi), and the john dori. The desert are unexpectedly sizable and delicious, try the banana soufflé Formal atmosphere not as cozy as the rest for the South Place hotel
Highly recommended.
We had the tasting menus, paired with wine. The food was good, tasty and interesting. But it was not wow, it did not blow us away like other Michelin starred restuaurants did.
Booked for Saturday lunch yesterday to try the tasting menu. We were then given the tasting menu, lunch menu and general menu and told to choose what we want. Also, only given the cocktail menu and had to ask for the wine list. There was no sommelier, luckily we know a thing or two about wines. The menus were old and some wordings had faded. Immediately had a bad sinking feeling about what was to come. We looked at the £135 each tasting menu for a good 10 minutes wishing for the menu to evolve to something better. We decided against the tasting menu, at this point we had no confidence in anything and rightly so. I wanted to leave immediately but we decided to see it through and compare with our other Michelin star restaurant experiences. Recently been to Pollen Street Social - wonderful experience; Frog by Adam Handling, also great all round; Also been to Heston Blumenthal s The Fat Duck a couple of times and have visited all the three Michelin star restaurants in London. Subsequently, our expectations for a restaurant awarded a Michelin star were high. Small plates were stale and had a feeling of leftover from the day before. Service was managed by some very young (and lovely) kids who sadly did not know anything about anything. I asked about the claws served with the Talbot and the waitress response was so you don t want the claws? The cerviche was warm and thick, full of mayo and just shockingly disappointing. Everything else was downhill from then on. The dessert looked like it had been made by a 5 year old. I have never wanted to walk out of a restaurant before. We are very open minded and will try most things; but I can t explain how shockingly abysmal the standards and quality of the food was. It s embarrassing. I will not be surprised if the Michelin star is removed.
We had the most amazing experience at the Angler on Tuesday lunchtime. We had a voucher for the taster menu as a gift and didn t know what to expect. We had a glass of bubbly included, and then selected a beautiful white wine with the help of the sommelier. Each course was absolutely stunning - but the froi gras cornetto was just mindblowing! We even ordered more of these after our meal. The service was exceptional, everyone was kind and we didn t wait for a single moment for anything. Maria was particularly lovely! We absolutely loved the small touches, such as the squid water jug, and the presentation plates (especially of the appetisers). After the meal, we had a drink and a cigarette out on the beautiful balcony, overlooking the street below. This is where I met Jo, who had very kindly agreed to post on a signed menu to my partner (after I had translated his handwriting into legible form). We got talking to Jo who really was the highlight of our trip! She added that personal touch, and made us laugh, made us feel comfortable and special. We left with full bellies, a small selection of chocolates and a recommendation for cocktails nearby. Absolutely thrilled with our whole experience, and we will definitely be back to try the a la carte menu! Thank you to everyone who made it so special Katie & Anton x
Utterly awesome dinner at Angler this evening. The food, service and wine were all first class - shout out to to all members of the team and Ricardo who kept our glasses full with exquisite wines. Go now - you will not be disappointed!
Lovely dishes and service
A friend recommended that this is a three-star Michelin restaurant, so I made a reservation to have lunch there. The environment is nice and you can see the focus and hard work of the chefs. Personally, I am not too surprised by these dishes, and I cannot make a very specific evaluation. Maybe I just went to Thailand for dinner at a one-star Michelin restaurant in November. Personally, I feel that the layout of the room, the professional hospitality of the staff, and the artistry and taste of the dishes are better than here. Its a bit... Pearl and jade in front.
Fabulous modern cooking, food worthy of 2 Mitchelin stars in my opinion. Attention to detail was on point and food was scrumptious. Riccardo the sommelier was charismatic and looked after us very well! I will be returning soon!
Excellent, a great spot and choice for any type of occasion. The restaurant has a fantastic service.
Absolutely amazing time at Angler. This is the second time I have been but the first time doing the tasting menu. Highly recommend with every dish tasting amazing and presented beautifully. They also accommodated a couple of dietary restriction in our party with consummate ease. More than that though the service is first class. We had the chefs table and all of the staff did a wonderful job of attending to our needs. In addition, Anna was a perfect hostess and suggested the use of the terrace for our aperitifs which was a nice touch.
Myself and friends ate here a few weeks ago whilst attending the Chelsea flower show and WOW what a night! How this is place hasn t got a Michelin star is beyond me. From start to finish the food was exceptional and the crab starter was the best thing I have ever eaten ! And I ve eaten in some pretty cool joints. The service impeccable, smart with not a hint of stuffy. A tip top relaxed night with friends, would highly recommend.
Food is sublime, presentation and service superb. Definitely coming back soon.
Spectacular experience!! Fantastic food, high level of gastronomy! But I must highlight the service of the sommelier and the wines he recommended, the professionalism and the fantastic attention he gave us.
As another reviewer said, there is a reason you can book this Michelin restaurant on short notice. Walking in on a Friday, we were surprised to be one of 4 tables seated. When I asked the hosted about them not being busy, she concurred that they aren t typically busy. Made me suspicious. While the food was not bad, there was nothing here that was Michelin worthy. The setting was cold. Looking out into office buildings. The service was atrocious. Our drinks took 25 minutes. The front of the house is a mess. The staff argued constantly and appeared miserable. Even with 4 tables, even simple requests like asking for the drink menu took 10 minutes. The waiter didn t even bother to check back if we wanted a drink and after inning him down, he didn t bother asking me if I wanted a drink after taking the order from my wife. End simple courtesies like not delivering food while someone is in the restroom weren t followed. Clearly there is no leadership or training for the staff here. To top it off, the tasting menu on the website had no correlation to the food we served. While the first few courses were solid, things quickly declined. In a high end seafood restaurant, why would you serve monkfish, one of the cheapest fish, followed by chicken? Cheap ingredients, terrible service, uncoordinated staff, and a 375 bill explain why this restaurant is almost empty on a Friday.
I booked a ten-course tasting menu for my partners birthday last week and we enjoyed most dishes. Their starters are to die for, although we were not too keen on the sea bass tartare - a bit too raw. We also had a complimentary glass of Nyetimber sparkling wine each - which was a lovely gesture. The two desserts on the menu were definitely the highlight - we both loved them and the complimentary chocolates at the end of the meal wowed us even more. The only downside of our dining experience was that I felt quite ill and had an upset stomach shortly after. I cant blame the food as my partner was fine, so clearly, something didnt agree with me. The service was outstanding - our waiter (French, based on the accent) really looked after us and was rather entertaining. You also get some nice views from the 7th floor of the restaurant. I would definitely inject more colours into the decor but I guess its meant to be kept that fresh when the food is of such an amazing presentation and quality.
Excellent food but painfully slow service. We arrived at 12.30pm and didnt finish until 3pm even though it was a set menu. Too many amuse bouche and food explanations for a business lunch though really great food. I actually had to leave lunch before the main course even appeared. There was also no atmosphere and the place was almost empty.
This place was fantastic, the food was to die for and the service was excellent. Highly recommend
Review update 08/07/22: I was personally contacted by Mr. Renner, manager of the restaurant, who apologized, explaining to me that he too found himself in difficulty that evening for various understandable reasons. It was a very appreciable gesture and a sign of professionalism which certainly has a positive impact on my opinion of the restaurant. Review dated 06/08/22 (3 stars): Overall I gave 3 stars for the following reasons: we waited about 10 minutes before someone paid attention to us or brought us the menu (in a starred restaurant this is a very serious thing); when the maitre d came I asked if anyone spoke in Italian and from his attitude he didnt like my request, in fact from that moment on he didnt even pay us a glance. We dont expect them to know how to speak Italian in a restaurant in London but the attitude of the maitre d was very rude; we noticed that he took care of filling the glasses of all the other diners with water while we always had to do it ourselves (its not a problem but since it wasnt the first starred restaurant we dined in, we have some terms of comparison) . Instead, a positive note (5 stars) concerns the Italian waiter who then looked after us for the entire duration of the dinner, explaining each dish clearly and professionally. A positive note also to the reception and the other waiters. All dishes were exceptional, we couldnt fault anything. We found less attention to customer care compared to other starred restaurants we have been to.
Some of the best food I ve had in the UK. I was extremely impressed with Angler, I was a bit worried as our group had a set menu as I can be a bit picky but wow, I kept trying things and was just so impressed with how much flavor everything had. It was nice having the chef come explain every dish but we still had no idea what we were eating with some dishes. Partially because of his accent but also likely largely because of the different names and foods that we just don t know.
I don t understand how they got a Michelin star. Food: There was nothing extraordinary with the food. The flavors are common and did not surprise me at all. It gave me nostalgia about foods I used to it growing up but that s it. The appetizers and desserts were better than the mains. The seafood/fish were not exemplary at all. Some of the sauces overpowered the fish instead of complimenting them. Service: Mediocre service. Was trying to make a conversation with the server but he did not seem to care at all. They were not even busy given very minimal guests that night. There were probably 3-4 of them serving everyone. On my reservation and while dining, we told them it was my birthday. Nothing special was done except a happy birthday note on a chocolate slab which is part of the dessert. Not even a sign of geniune excitement or care. Ambience: Setting looks like a typical hotel restaurant. We went on a Friday expecting that it will be packed. To our surprise, there were very few of us and a lot of vacant tables. This alone speaks volumes.
I have been to Angler three times over the past three years. The food is always so delicious!!!! My review is short as just I have nothing but praise for the restaurant. Please keep doing well in the future!
Food was great but not wow. But I think the service is little lacking of attentive . I need to pour water and wine by myself. I didn t get anything for my birthday celebration as well.
Terrific food. Difficult to find fault with anything. We enjoyed the tasting menu with matched wines for the latter courses. Service was efficient and charming. Stayed at the hotel, very handy to just pop downstairs to bed Food
If you are looking for THE FOOD AND DRINK EXPERIENCE this is the place. Amazing food, drinks, atmosphere and really friendly and professional staff. Worthy every penny. In the heart of Central London in the top of the building. With a terrace also. Totally recommended. Food
We had the Travel Zoo voucher meal and it was absolutely amazing ! We were looked after the moment we entered the hotel for drinks and then for the whole meal in the restaurant. The food excellent with the flavours oozing from every dish. Service was faultless and friendly and the Sommelier was helpful and very informative. Definitely recommend this wonderful restaurant. Thank you for a lovely experience
It was a decent place but would ve expected more it being a Michelin star establishment. The service was fantastic and the Quilty of the food was really good but overall I didn t feel the experience was all that more exceptional compared to other non-Michelin restaurants I ve visited.
Fantastic tasting menu.
Great business lunch experience.
Fantastic experience!
Lovely tasting menu approach, whether you order the formal tasting menu or not. The food is delicious and the servers friendly and professional. Great spot for a business meal. Highly recommend.
WOW! What an amazing tasting menu we had here yesterday evening. I absolutely loved the langoustine dish, and the seabass tartare. Monkfish dish was also beautiful my partner loved it. Along with the caramelised onion tart canapé. The food here and the service is outstanding Thank you so much. My birthday was very special.
Tried the set lunch menu here with a friend and it was quite a fun little experience overall! We had the last reservation slot before they closed up to prep dinner so we enjoyed a very nice and quiet atmosphere looking out at the dreadful rain outside, and the staff were all very nice and friendly. We also ordered the Devon crab starter separately and that was honestly the very best thing we tried that day we debated ordering another one before we left and if we ever came back I would order it again without hesitation. For the lunch menu, it was generally very fun to devour everything in one bite, though I will say for a seafood restaurant, I preferred my duck ravioli over the John Dory (though it was the reverse for my friend). It s generally not very fish-forward I found, which I guess is a shame because the crab from their a la carte menu was just SO good and the lunch menu doesn t really reflect that. The desserts were just a tad too sweet, however, and really not the best note to end the meal on. We had a wine pairing which I did drink but didn t think much of but I m not a wine person so who knows? I also ordered a cocktail which was very good. Overall, if you want a fun upmarket multi-course menu experience, I WOULD recommend this place, but maybe manage your expectations and order extras off the a la carte!
My wife couldnt eat too much carbohydrates, the chef was happy to make changes to the tasting menu to accommodate.
Such a great experience with food and service. Especially sommeliers recommendation was perfect for the seafood. And Spyros provided warm and professional service. If I come back to London again, I want to have an opportunity to enjoy the tasting menu.
Hot Chocolate Hideaway at the @AnglerRestaurant This hot chocolate was truly special! You enjoy it at the most Christmassy and cosy rooftop terrace with stunning views of the city! . Closest station: Moorgate Price: £6.00 for Classic Valhorna Hot Chocolate £12.00 Valhorna Hot Chocolate with Woodford Reserve shot Add extra syrups for free: Gingerbread, Pumpkin Spice or Salted Caramel Petit fours £3.50 each: Chocolate shortbread Cocoa Marshmallow Chocolate Marble Cake Woodford Whisky Canele . Overall rating: 9/10 . Verdict: We went for their Boozy Hot Chocolate with a shot of Woodford reserve and I have to tell you, it really added an extra dimension to it. The chocolate is a typical drinking chocolate so don t expect thick hot chocolate. The boozy chocolate is on a pricier side for £12 but the normal one costs only £6. You can add extra syrups to your chocolate for free and I recommend ordering at least one of each from their petit fours. My favourite were the Chocolate shortbread and Cocoa Marshmallow. For me as an overall experience it was wonderful so I d rate it 9/10.
The restaurant set in a very convinient location the lift takes you directly to the restaurant. The deco is simple and modern. The food is delicately presented. None of the dishes tastes very heavy and oily most of the dishes are quite light and refreshing. It is definitely average michellin standard . Dietary restrictions: well adapted
Amazing. Tasting menu with wine pairing was a great experience. Highly recommended!
Simply amazing! I will definitely be visiting them again soon. Food, service and ambience were perfect. Staff is very polite, quick and attentive. I loved the starters, sea bass tartare and hand picked Devon crab the most. Highly recommended!
Sitting at the top of South Place Hotel, Angler is a Michelin-starred restaurant with a nice rooftop terrace. As expected, it is showcasing the best seafood from British waters. Menu features seasonal, carefully sourced ingredients, producing truly picture-perfect plates. Amazing experience, understanably not cheap but worth every penny. Food and service definitely worth Michelin Stars. Weve had a tasting menú at £120 pounds a head. All the dishes were exquisit. Taste, presentation and service were 5 star in every sense. Most recommended for any possible special occasion or as a lovely gift for your loved ones.
Excellent food!...
Faultless evening at Angler. Wonderful food (we had the tasting menu, which was just incredible), relaxed ambience (tables are nicely spaced out, and the room is modern and comfortable) and attentive service which somehow was never intrusive. Have been here before 7.5 years earlier and had a similarly wonderful time, with the food and the service creating a lasting impression both times. Couldnt recommend highly enough.
Fine dining like this may just not be for me? The food tasted great, dont get me wrong, but for the price I expected each dish to be mind blowing. I mean I LOVE food, sometimes I go to a new restaurant and WOW, I really can enjoy it. Id never been to a Michelin-starred restaurant before, so I thought, YES, I am ready to have my mind blown, I am ready to experience this legendary mark of good food! Well, I learned that Michelin-starred restaurants arent a universal mark of the most incredible food for everyone. Some people might go here and think its incredible! A lot of people do apparently. I thought the food was great, and the many courses were pretty fun, but wow, its SO small, and only one of the nine courses made me lose my mind (the seabass tartare. WOW.) The feeling I had when I ate that... Thats what I was expecting to have for each dish. Overall, eating here made me realize theres a club that Im not a part of. I thought if I saved up enough money, a casual like me could go to an exclusive Michelin-starred restaurant like this and enjoy this celebration-worthy meal, probably leaving thinking its the best meal Ive ever eaten. I dont think its accessible to the common man such as myself, though. Theres some sort of prerequisite that comes with enjoying these types of meals, and what that is I do not know. Genuinely thankful for this experience, as now I can stop wondering what its like to eat at a place like this.
Where do I begin? My partner and I came here after 3 months of looking forward to it we were bitterly disappointed. We have been to a Michelin star restaurant before and loved it, after this trip I don t think they even deserve to be in the guide let alone a star. They were grossly understaffed, we felt completely rushed the whole time. Firstly we sat down, one side was a sofa that was so low it wasnt the right height for the table and in general I felt the restaurant was crammed not exactly an initiate experience when we were practically sat on the same table as to the table to our left. We didn t even receive our drinks before we were delievered the first dish with a rushed run down of what it was then following dishes were hurried out after. My partner went to the loo and they served us before he even got back so he got back to almost cold food (it wasn t that hot in the first place) As for the food, it was bland and lacked anything special. When we have eaten at other restaurants with the same status we have been in awe of the food and each mouthful was like a punch of flavour. The only flavour we could taste was salt. The tipping point was the turbot, which was over cooked and bland. So we sent it back and were given the message from the chef that actually we didn t know what we were talking about and it s just not to our palette we were given their signature dish as an alternative which was equally as bland and I couldn t even tell you what the flavour of the thing was. With this in mind we spoke to the waiter who agreed that we could leave and didn t charge us for the meal. I left feeling in disbelief and completely let down. I am worried about anyone who has never had the Michelin star experience before that they will be put off by the high price tag because what we were served wasn t worth even a third of the price advertised and I am glad we didn t have to pay for anything other than our wine. We won t be returning and I hope their chef gets his star revoked not just because of his inability to cook but for his disgraceful attitude.
Rooftop restaurant with terrace on top of the South Place Hotel. Thus us a Michelin star restaurant and it didnt disappoint. We went on a Thursday evening and it was pretty quiet, we took drinks on the terrace which was open although it was cold the roof was up and the windows down so with some throws was quite pleasant. They have an extensive drinks menu with gins etc. We had the 6-course tasting menu and it was without fault. The service was amazing and the sommelier recommended some great wines. Service was swift to the point where there was little time between courses, but as we had to get back it was fine, and stayed at the table after for more wine so didnt feel rushed
Stunning restaurant, great tasting menu and lunch menu. Staff here have the ultimate attention to detail, and with every dish you get a good nunber of free tasters on the side. Thumbs up, will be returning!
Highly recomanded.
Very good 1 star Michelin restaurant. For food quality can be treated as 2 stars. Short menu - more fish than meat. Good and reasonably priced vine list. Most customers are male. But it s the middle of City London. We were very impressed. Really want to come back.
I will say one of the most decent set menus that I have eat.. They treated us very well. For sure I will go back for the tasting menu. Thank you
Enjoyed the cold dishes. Id like to meet someone who enjoyed the seafood jellies though. To understand their psyche
Excellent! I had a terrific experience here. Food was appealing to the eye and very flavorful. Service was top-notch - in fact, the restaurant got slammed by a party of 20 mid-week (and w/o a tremendous number of staff on duty) and didnt miss a beat. Dining room is modern and the tables are well spaced. A perfect place for a business or romantic dinner. My only quibble is that it was unclear the restaurant is on the 7th floor. I was standing by the host stand downstairs for more than 5 minutes wondering when a host or hostess would come to the stand, and only after my wait did someone from staff inquire if they could help. When I told them I was looking for Angler, they pointed to the elevator bank and pointed upstairs. Some sort of signage (or a better trained host(ess) downstairs) would be helpful, esp for a Michelin-starred establishment.
The best Restaurant in this area. Food is always th top, friendly team!
We have been to many Michelin star restaurants and this one fell below par. Considering we were asked several times prior to visiting whether anyone had any allergies and if it was a special occasion, you would have thought this would have been noted on the booking. It wasnt. I have a mushroom allergy and stated this several times. Unfortunately one of the dishes came with mushrooms and the sauce had traces of it in. You would have thought they could have whipped up a different sauce to go with the fish, but instead I was given a dry fillet of fish. Not what I was expecting and most disappointing. It was also a birthday celebration and they did absolutely nothing special which was a real let down. We have been to gastro pubs for birthdays and they come out with a small brownie or something to wish you a happy birthday. Considering the amount charged, they lack on the small touches which would have made it an enjoyable experience.
Spectacular experience.
I really enjoyed my visit to Angler. First of all, something difficult in a big city, the setting is impressive. The staff is very friendly and gives good advice. The cuisine is inspired and the products are top quality. As a seafood/fish lover, I unsurprisingly particularly liked the crab dish (the touch of wasabi adds a nice little extra). In short, very good address!
Went for a lunch, nice place, good food and correct service. Good value for the price, in a one Michelin star
Loved our visit - the food was really delicious and we enjoyed every single course. All the service staff were also very friendly and welcoming:)
We chose the tasting menu and the afternoon was perfect in every way. The courses were full of pleasant surprises and flavour combinations, and the accompanying wines were great fun to try
Fantastic all round experience excellent venue service and food.
Excellent seafood themed food, very good wine pairings and cocktails, impeccable service. Highly recommended
Proper fine dining with brilliant staff. Incredible flavours and beautiful ambience to the restaurant
Delightful tasting menu and lovely staff! I was also really impressed by their delicious English sparkling wine!
Wow! I was blown away. The attention to detail and the service was on point. Lovely friendly staff and the food was truly opulent. An experience worth every penny
One of the best experiences I have ever had. 10/10.
Beautifully presented and also delicious foods! Really really enjoyed the foods. It looked ambient. One downside was the cocktail & drinks menu. Nothing very special and exotic like the foods. Very shame.
Really one of the best one star Michelinsin London. The food is better than some three stars. The service is very good and not overly formal. The wine list is a lovely. The wine pairing is a trifle pricey, but Id reconsider the next time and there will be a next time. Tasting menu one of the best in years and Ive done about 5 1 stars and 3 stars in past 6 monthd Book Now Note its seafood focused
Delicious tasting menu - really enjoyed the selection of starters and the sea bass tartare.
Tasting menu - fabulous series of courses and matching wines in a modern setting. Great service too.
This is the best restaurant l have visited this year, staff were professional in explaining and helping me choose from the menu. Food presentation was fantastic, l initially felt portion was quite small but to my surprise l couldnt eat any food for dinner as my Tummy was still full from lunch. This place is quite expensive but worth every penny spent.
Beautiful window view. Flavor is outstanding. To an Asian stomach, it is mild in sauce but brings enough flavor to the taste bud. Ingredients are mainly seafood and taste fresh. Not cheap, but the Michelin star is worth some budget. I will come back.
They were super cautious about my sons allergy and offered some safe nice food for him. We had their tasting menu and each portion was small but really beautifully presented and we were quite full by the end of the course. Looking forward to visiting again.
Beautiful place! Amazing food! Great experience
A fantastic meal with every dish hitting the mark, highly recommended
Good restaurant although a bit pricey. Food is good nonetheless, although dishes were nicely presented by the waiters, some of the dishes lacked that extra taste that you may expect for a restaurant like this one (i.e. I ordered seabass tartare and the sauce was ok but I found it very simple)
One of the best meals we ve ever had
Fantastic dining experience. Everything was delicious. We dined from the tasting menu and everything was great. Definitely left feeling very full.
My partner and I had the tasting menu for dinner, as it was given to us as a wedding gift. We are not used to English haute cuisine, which is too heavy and unhealthy for us, but wanted to give the Angler a try given its reputation. However, the food in the tasting menu ended up being too heavy, with too much protein and fat, and both of us ended up with serious stomachache afterwards. Whilst the serving staff were polite and professional, the main dishes and the dessert were disappointingly mediocre: The sea bass tartare had too much heavy sauce and the portion was too big, and the cod was obviously overcooked. The dessert was very sweet and too heavy, especially given that it followed several, already heavy dishes. It was quite inedible although we really didnt want to waste food. In addition, we had asked for green tea at the end, but what was sold as Yunnan green tea tasted like spinach. Both of us drink a lot of green tea and never tasted anything remotely this unpalatable. We were also disappointed at the lack of transparency in the pricing structure: There was no non-alcoholic alternative to the champagne included in our voucher. We were offered sparkling tea instead of the alcohol when we explained that we did not want alcohol, only to find later that this was not included in the voucher - even though it should be cheaper than champagne. Overall, the experience was highly disappointing and we would not recommend it.
Stunning food and a very nice experience generally
Amazing food! Never miss a chance to stop in on a Michelin restaurant when I m traveling and I thought I d try this one. The tasting menu was incredible. Very seafood focused which I loved, you won t find chicken here. Interesting takes on slaw, squid, cod, and more. Great wine pairings as well, and service was highly attentive and top notch. Well done!!
Plenty of fish and seafood dishes as part of the 7-course tasting menu seabass tartare and wasabi crab were my favourites. Decent, but not «wow». Although potions may look quite small you wont leave hungry, as there are plenty of pre-starters. Good wine selection by the glass (I did my research on Vivino in advance and the choice didnt disappoint). Dining room overlooking the City offices. Service was okay, but not consistent. Quite pricey.
Good ingredients let down by the accompaniment and sauces which all have a fruity taste. A bit more variety will improve the experience.
Beautiful fine dining experience with exquisite service and even more exquisite food! We loved every bit.
Delicious food and fantastic Staff. We spent wonderful time over tasting menu. Food
Beautiful and Very delicious dishes! Quiet place and beautiful scenery.
Excellent food and service
Tasting menu, very nice. Struggled understanding some of the staff Food
This was a surprise for my wifes birthday. I was stuck in Qatar and couldnt join my wife and daughter. I arranged everything with Michika at the reception over several weeks. I also sorted out flowers and a cake effortlessly. The restaurant was a recommendation from our food critic friend Andy Hayler
Such a lovely restaurant. The staff were incredibly friendly helpful and attentive. We enjoyed the tasting menu for our wedding anniversary. Each of the courses were amazing; The dishes were well presented and delicious. I look forward to going back again in the future.
Delicious! Very attentive staff we had a great experience
Amazing #glutenfree options
Fantastic place to eat. Food is incredible - fresh, and beautiful cooked, all showcasing the seafood. The dishes are all so unique and beautifully plated. The service is impeccable. The only downside is that the table I was given was right next to the service station and kitchen, so it could get a bit noisy/disruptive. Dietary restrictions: They catered extremely well for intolerances! Made special dishes for vegetarians.
Brilliant service, nice atmosphere. Regarding the food, is ok, some dishes interesting but nothing amazing as you would expect.
Everything was perfect ! A quiet, charming and well decorated diner room Every plate of the menu was wonderful... Well dressed, balanced and tasted even better A wonderful dining experience and perfect place to enjoy what dishes deserve to be
The food was absolutely stunning. Beautiful surroundings and extremely friendly staff. Jo, the front-of-house lady, looked after us so well and seemed to genuinely care. Our waiter, Pierre, was delightful, as was everyone else. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment as a real treat and a cut above the rest.
The tasting menu was good. I thought the food was largely delicious so my point goes to that alone. But, the menu did not match what we were served. For example the quince dish never appeared but a cranberry one did. No explanation about the change. The fish was overdone so some may have been disappointed by that. My biggest problem was the service and overall ambiance. To compare this with other establishments with the same rating would be impossible. It does not meet the standards of a fine dining restaurant let alone a starred one. The staff were speaking about guests at the till station where there is a mirror so you can see exactly what they are doing. They stood there in groups of 3 and it did not make me feel comfortable at all. They cleared food while we were still busy. They overlapped dishes. The water was tepid. The finesse was nonexistent. They did not know the dishes well. They had sullen expressions and made me feel unwelcome to say the least. They asked how something was but didnt make eye contact or wait for an answer often times they answered the question themselves. How was x good yes good. I didnt say a word. The design of the space was that I could see the opening to the kitchen. This was not intended as a focal point of the space but rather poor design. The chefs were sticking their heads out the space watching and speaking with the staff on the floor. The lights were bright making the atmosphere cold and impersonal. I understand that the festive season is in full swing but I dont want to listen to rudolf the red nosed reindeer at a starred establishment. I heard it enough in the grocery store and every other place iv entered for the last month. There are carols and then there is rudolf the red nosed reindeer. I think that was the cherry on top for me. The clientele within the surrounding spaces were drunk loud men and office Christmas parties. It seriously dampened the mood when you are waiting ages for the lift to leave and its full of drunk men so you cant get it and have to wait for yet another one. Its not the class factor one expects. So unfortunately I need to write something negative as this was not a place that lived up to its rating.
Ugh View of an office building. Service error and no smiles And the dishes? Very nicely presented but no wow effect. At 125 euros the tasting menu the value for money is not good
Lovely experience, delicious food and great service!
Couldn t have been happier with the service and food from the tasting menu. The evening was amazing. Thank you so much.
Sublime service from front of house. Highly recommend the tasting menu for the first time. Tried this with the addition of scallops, which were divine. Possibly one of the most exciting tastings weve had in a long time. It took your palette and senses on a journey of flavours and textures. Curious in the most delightful way and delicious in every sense of the word. Great selection of ingredients for summer. The cocktails were also excellent, even from their specials to your recognisable signature drinks. 10s across the board and understandable why theyve earned their michelin star.
Delicious food for a relatively good price from Virgin Experience.
Wonderful food and service!
My wife and I went here for a special occasion dinner. Impeccable service, most notably by Tibor, who ensured we had a wonderful evening. Staff was very able and willing to accommodate prix fixe meal changes for pregnancy. Food was outstanding and in a very tranquil setting, good value for price.
Amazing food,first-class service.Sublime over all experience.
The sommelier was both amazing at his job and such a lovely guy. We had such a special evening, thank you!!
Fantastic taster menu. Outstanding quality of produce and flavours. All dishes explained well and attentive friendly service. Barbara, the Sommilier, was spot on with her recommendations and deserves a special mention.
The food was amazing! We had the tasting menu which for me had too many dessert courses and not enough savoury but what we had was delicious. The restaurant itself lacked ambiance as do many michelin starred restaurants .
Very good food, weird that it doesnt have two Michelin stars. Also, good wine matches at a non astronomical cost - the sommelier is on form.
The food is excellent. Just dont expect traditional British hospitality. The men who work there are slightly nicer than the women, but that isnt why youre there. The food is unquestionably the main draw.
Every bite enriched my mouth, its been an amazing culinary experience. The FOH team were well prepared and absolutely nothing went wrong, even the smallest detail. Exactly what Im expecting from a Michelin starred restaurant.
Simply a stellar dining experience. Lovely restaurant, excellent service, really wonderfully prepared dishes. I enjoyed the tasting menu, which offered one gustatory delight after another. Highly recommended!
Went there a couple of times. Service is always good and of course the food too! Love different starters that have been served to us. Unfortunately, the waiters are wearing face coverings so we cant really hear them especially during food introduction. Feel safe eating there as all of the staff are wearing face coverings and with social distancing.
delicious
Lovely place. Food is delicious! Thank you everyone!
Enjoyed the tasting menu with excellent wine pairing
Not my favourite meal. The set menu is very restrictive and I didn t really like it. Disappointing that, even though multiple times they were told it was someone birthday, they couldn t manage a candle nor a happy birthday wish. To wait an hour for the starter is outrageous. Almost 3 hours to complete a 3 course meal.
Amazing dishes that didn t leave us feeling overstuffed. Service was attentive but not overbearing. The restaurant itself is great, lovely big windows for natural light and small enough that you can actually hear your dinner date!
Excellent food and great polished service. Super for a special occasion.
General food, taste and service. And add charity fees in my bills without reasons.
Service was fast, staff were attentive. Rabbit lasagna was delicious but came with tiny pieces of bones embedded inside. Other dishes were a mixed bag, but it could possibly be down to my own palate.
We liked it. The service was superb. The restaurant is pretty and the food ok. But all of this together is unfortunately far far away from the michelin experience we got used to.
Simply wonderful what else is there to say
Service was amazing, food wasnt really to my taste.
Wonderful lunch! The carmelized butter is to die for - first time ever taking an additional serving of bread just to have more of the butter. Rest of the meal was also perfection. Service is attentive and not pushy or overbearing.
Lovely restaurant, great food, friendly staff. Except for when we stepped outside to hail a cab in the rain and couldnt get one we were locked out and had to shelter while we waited for the Uber to arrive. Suppose the staff want to go home too.
Amazing time, service was amazing Would recommend .
Fantastic staff make you feel so welcome and enjoyed the experience
Exquisite fish and outstanding service, a real treat of a restaurant
It was belated birthday celebration and it was a perfect day. The food was excellent and staff was very attentive. Couldnt have had a better day.
Service was very fast, we felt a bit rushed even though the restaurant was not crowded. Their signature main course, as part of the tasting menu, was salty. This was a gift for our wedding but we didn t get anything extra or special from the restaurant. We re not impressed with the food and would not return.
Amazing value for money and the food & service definitely represents the michelin star! Wine pairing the best Ive ever had.
The food was lovely and the service was great. Its a little expensive for a 1* and the portion sizes were inconsistent with a table next to us. (one one course our fish was half the size). There are better 1* tasting menus in London that are cheaper.
I called weeks in advance to book and on the day it turned out they had messed up the reservation. They werent even apologetic about it, despite it being completely their mistake.
another weekend another great restaurant.
Its been a long time coming... Last time I had the chance to eat here was in 2014, and with many things that got in the way... Finally I am back! The most wonderful Restaurant, the food, service, staff are all sublime. Always save space for dessert here.
Not bad experience. Rather surprised to find out the lamb dish is the most tasty one in a seafood restaurant! Very nice presentation, as you can tell from all thr pictures. Miso sauce for the turbot is a bit salty to my liking. Reasonable drink price. Worth a visit.
Nice food and attentive service
