The food was decent in general. I found it difficult to appreciate Tete de Veau as it was flavorless, quite fatty, and had very strange skin texture. The desserts were very good. I didn’t like the fact the restaurant cheekily added 1 pound charity donation to the bill without saying anything.

My friend and I had a fantastic evening. We were blown away by the chicken pâté – it was seriously one of the best things I've ever tasted. The rabbit was also cooked to perfection. The service was top-notch, the atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the food was absolutely incredible. I can't recommend this place enough!"

The service was perfection, perhaps the best I have ever experienced in London. Loved the wine selection; what a delight to see a Vermouth Rouge on the aperitif list. The creamed spinach was a highlight!

Bouchon Racine is a cozy neighborhood gem tucked above a pub, offering an intimate candlelit dining experience full of charm. The chalkboard menu showcases fresh, seasonal produce, and the wine list is both carefully curated and reasonably priced. The service is attentive and warm, adding to the overall inviting atmosphere. Though tables can be hard to come by, the effort is absolutely worthwhile for such a delightful dining experience. Highly recommended!

The food is exceptional here and along with the service makes it one of the top restaurants in London for French cuisine. Both of my visits were great, loved the rabbit and the veal as well as the pork chop. Would highly recommend for a special occasion and not spend a fortune ( estimate £100/person with a couple of drinks)

Yes, I concur that Bouchon Racine is amazing! :) Delicious and delightful food.. the lovely setting eggs you onto having a most leisurely lunch. Enjoyed the bavette with sauce verte (although still reminisce about the veal chop from a previous visit). The Crème Caramel is a showstopper!

Excellent French cuisine. We’ve order a decent amount for two people. Everything was accurate and delicious. Full of butter felt like an uplifted hidden bistro. The only dish we did not like was the famous eel salad. French fries were surprisingly moshie from the inside but super crispy on the outside. Orzo was also phenomenal and probably one of the best ones I’ve ever had. Desserts were light. I would avoid the Mont Blanc which was boring.

Haven’t had any luck with the reservation system but friend got a table so happily joined. It certainly did not disappoint although my stomach sometimes disagrees with the heaviness of French cuisine. It’s partially fault of our own as we almost ordered all the desert on offer - all are exceptionally good, in particular the Mont Blanc which has won my desert of the year award. The yellow chicken was also divine.

Incredibly surprising to find a restaurant in London that is capable of being such a level above most French restaurants in France. We feel the quality of the products, the homemade work. Perfectly executed classics, definitely worth doing. And above all, don t leave without trying the crème caramel!

Everything here was fantastic - great food, great atmosphere and great service. The rabbit in mustard sauce was outstanding. I don t even like crème caramel but the one here seems to achieve a texture that is almost creamier than cream - if that s even possible. Do NOT skip it! Only downside is it is quite pricey, but not bad value for the quality.

The food is as brilliant as can be. It is special. It is genuine. It is comforting. The ambiance and the vibe is great. The wine glasses are shocking though, and the randomness of who does and does not get proper glasses when ordering a bottle is bad. If your food is this good and goes well with wine, and you have a nice wine list, get proper glasses.

Bouchon Racine has been on my list for a while finally got a table for lunch and it was beyond expectations! Friendly and knowledgeable staff went through a whole board of menu with us and explained everything to help us with the order. Nothing was rushed. The sunlight after the rain streams through the transparent skylight, filling the space with a gentle warmth. Time felt went pass slower here. Food was impressive, we had Beef tartare, monk fish and the rabbit with a mustard sauce. For dessert, we had the crème caramel and the apricot tart. Menu change frequently based on seasonal ingredients and chef s design. So definitely wanna come back and try something different next time.

Excellent French restaurant in London A kind of classic bistro. Traditional dishes are excellently executed. We ate a tomato salad, with green beans and anchovies, which was refreshing. Green orzo dish, pasta in the shape of rice, cooked like risotto, in a green sauce with chanterelle mushrooms. One of the tastiest dishes Ive eaten! Simply excellent Fillet steak, in a classic sauce, and veal liver were excellent The desserts included a rich chocolate mousse, an excellent caramel cream with plum in Armaneck, and an almond and apricot cake that we got at the houses expense. All are delicious We drank wines by the glass - both a young Pinot Noir and a full-bodied Bordeaux. The service was professional, friendly and excellent The meal is not cheap, but the value for the price is excellent. Highly recommended

Came with family to celebrate a birthday. Friendly service, big exciting chalk boards, starters £18 and up, mains £26 and up mainly downhill from there Starters mostly disappointing: Steak tartare was muddy and lacking finesse - think beef mince gone brown with a few capers thrown in, nothing fresh or delicate about it, and served warm on one of the hottest days of the year. Could not finish - £26 Tina carpaccio was just odd - fatty unappetising slices in weird fruity marinade - £29.50 Herrings - bland at £12.50 Half dozen oysters fresh and lovely, but no skill to prepare - £26 Chicken liver pâté was delightful - chef s grandmother s 50 year old recipe. They had better not lose that one, otherwise they would be in real trouble. Mains considerably better - duck sharing plate £78, rabbit £26.50, calves liver £34 were decent (esp. calves liver) but contorni pretty awful. Deserts were ok but nothing special special. Butter, bread, olives, water etc. all dutifully charged, plus £35 corkage, £75 for magnum. And of course 12.5% optional (if slightly embarrassingly undeserved) service charge slapped on top. An ok experience, but not much generosity of hospitality, and certainly not an experience I would wish to repeat.

If you call the restaurant they might help you for later months. The food is typical to Lyonnaise cuisine and delicious. I tried the veal (seasonal main), beef tartare, cheese and salad and 2 different puddings. I thought the meal was already the best, but believe me you haven t had crem caramel before. It can t be this good!! Looking forward to my next visit.

I kept walking past it thinking no, that cant be it, thats a pub... Once the final member of our dining party had pushed through the confusion to climb the stairs up to Bouchon Racine, we had the most spectacular sharing-style French meal seated around a round table in the middle of the restaurant, with the unmistakable buzz of London pints on a warm summers day rising from the street below. Every starter was a hit, but the Coombeshead Farm Mangalitza (platter of cured pork meat) and chicken liver pate accompanied by the most beautiful bread I can remember tasting were highlights. For mains we opted for a series of sharing dishes, from cote de boeuf to assiette du Bouchon (a kind of platter of chicken and pork on lentils) to the best end of lamb. A superb meat feast. Finally, a taste of several desserts finished the meal brilliantly (though I could easily have eaten the apricot and almond tart all by myself). Wonderful experience, and all the buzz is well deserved.

Up an unassuming staircase in a Farringdon pub lies London s hottest new French restaurant. Getting a reservation was hard work, but it really paid off. The food and service in the small and cosy bistro is really good. Nice steak tartare, but the rabbit with bacon and mustard sauce was the showstopper. Good chips too. Dessert was probably the least impressive part of the meal, but the other courses made up for it. Service was excellent, and the staff were very friendly and helpful in choosing wines, refilling glasses and so on. As a constructive feedback, I would like to see more wines on sale by the glass. They had only 4 reds and 5 whites by the glass. Hope to be back soon.

We went for lunch last week, our second visit in the last month. The first visit didn t enthral us, possibly my choices from the menu didn t help. We wanted to give it a second chance. As before there was a warm welcome on entering. The service was excellent and, this time, the food was near perfect. Good choice of dishes from the blackboard menu and if needed helpful advice from the staff. I ve given four stars but would like to have made it 4.9 stars. The loss of 0.1 is solely down to only offering coffee at the end of the meal. Tea is not available. That said highly recommend Bouchon Racine. We will be going again.

On Saturday afternoon, we tried our luck for lunch at a popular French restaurant in London. The uber driver couldn t drop us off in front of the restaurant because of construction so we walked the rest of the way. There were hundreds of people shouting and what seemed like a protest in the same direction we were headed. But, as we got closer to the big crowd, we realised it was a tailgate party in front of a pub for the fans of the Luton Football club. They were really loud and cheering pridefully for their team prior to the game. It was a big game as a win would move them to the Premier League next season. So we finally made our way into restaurant on the second level. Bouchon Racine was opened last October but they had a cult following for the chef. We were met at the front door by Dave. We told him we didn t have a reservation and that we came a long way to try the food. The restaurant has a few empty tables waiting for the guests to arrive and Dave was doing his best to see if there were any no shows or cancellations but people were still making their way to the restaurant. Desperately hoping for some sort of miracle, Dave suddenly had an idea. He rushed out to the stairs area and quickly came back with a small table and two chairs. He found a corner to place the intimate table and we were set! Dave brought over a chalkboard with a full hand written menu, he went over each item from the starters to desserts with extreme detail. We decide on the Tomato French bean anchovies salad and Chicken liver pate to start. It went so well with the red wine Peter, our server, recommended us. For the mains, we went with the John dory mousserons leeks noir de bigorre ham and the Lamb chops wilted escarole rosemary garlic piment. The lamb dish reminded us of the mutton chops at the famous Keens Steakhouse in NYC. It was absolutely devine. Of course we had to have the Creme caramel armagnac prune for dessert, it was so creamy. A French meal would not be completed without a coffee and a glass of Armagnac. Everything was so good, that we couldnt help but to look again and again at the chalkboard menu, thinking of what we could have tried. Haha Thank you Dave and Peter for your genuine hospitality.

After all the 5 star reviews from the critics, Im not sure what went wrong for us. I almost feel guilty posting this! Its a lovely room, quiet music and the service throughout was friendly and efficient. We started with some bread and oysters. I adore oysters, they are my go to choice on a menu. These ones, however, were extremely salty, like drinking a mouthful of sea water salty. We share a starter of Bayonne ham and celeriac remoulade, both of which were good. For main course my partner had a bavette steak with Saint Marcellin sauce, I had the veal chop with Roquefort butter and we shared some chips and haricot beans. The bavette was very rare and very tough, even with a steak knife it was a struggle to cut it. The veal Chop wasnt much better and the butter made it very salty. This wouldnt have mattered so much if I hadnt already had salty oysters and then the beans were over salted too. We ended with an absolutely gorgeous creme caramel - highlight of the meal by far. A couple of coffees, a generous Poire William and we were done. I so wanted to love this place, maybe we caught it on a bad day. Maybe well try again and have different main courses. Maybe. Dietary restrictions: Great for gluten free choices.

A diverse menu largely of French Classics, which suits a Francophile like me down to the ground. Often very busy which creates a great atmosphere but can compromise service times. A good eine menu too. The food is and wine can be pricey but worth it in my view for consistent quality and experience.

This restaurant offers a unique experience with its two-part setup. While the pub on the ground floor may not be visually appealing, the dining area on the upper floor transports you to a charming French ambiance. The highlight is the beautifully designed balcony with a glass ceiling, truly a marvel in London. Overall, the menu provides a fantastic variety. The signature chicken liver pate didnt suit my personal taste; the veal head, despite some traces of fur, and the surprising veal tongue were enjoyable. The expertly cooked rabbit leg surpassed some one-Michelin star establishments. This is a restaurant for true food lover. The value offered is commendable. However, its worth noting that the national restaurant awards comment may have slightly exaggerated the food.

Food: Oysters delicious, Pate excellent, Herring beautifully done. Bavette was excellent, cooked to perfection. Chips were some of the best Ive ever had. Cod was a tad overcooked and a bit under seasoned but good. Myrtle tart was very impressive and cheese course was very generous by London standards. Service was excellent, professional and friendly. Wine list was interesting but a little underwhelming. Nice location and decorated well. Its been hyped but one can see why its going to [hopefully] become a London classic.

Have had a reservation booked for a few weeks to treat myself and my partner to a nice good meal. Having read reviews, we were buzzing to see what the fuss was about and we were not disappointed. We had warm baguette with salty butter for appetiser. I had the summer orzo, a mouth-watering, creamy, delicious vegetarian dish, a glass of wine and the creme caramel whilst my partner had veal chop with blue cheese butter, a chocolate pot and a glass of port. Between us, we paid £110 inc service, not bad for how good the food was. The atmosphere and decor was amazing. Service was outstanding. Really really enjoyed it and am be keen to come back. Vegetarian options: As a vegetarian, I m aware that traditional French cooking isn t the most meat-free which isn t an issue at all, however if you want to book Bouchon Racine expecting a lot of choice, you ll be disappointed. There is currently one main dish on the menu but my God is it good. So creamy, definitely worth going for.

3 of us went to lunch on my birthday. I actually changed the reservation from 2 covers to 3 rather late but staff made every effort to accommodate us. Servers are well trained, efficient & courteous. We had lunch at 2.30 & stayed until well after closing but we were left alone to finish our meal & chat. Wine & food excellent & I got a candle on my dessert but no fuss. We would definitely return for a special occasion.

We were 2 adults and 2 young kids that visited on a Saturday evening. The restaurant has an unassuming location taking up residence on the top floor of the Three Compasses pub. It a casual but comfortable spot with nicely spaced out tables. The constantly changing menu did offer a few large sharing plates which were tempting, and we opted for the Cote de boeuf, and to this we added the bread, olives, tomato salad, goats cheese and peppers, veggie orzo and creamed spinach. For dessert we had the crème caramel, chocolate pot and the greengage tart. The food was excellent! We enjoyed pretty much every item we tried, and the desserts were a particular highlight. Service was very friendly and engaging, and the food was delivered at a reasonable pace. The bill for our meal came to £253, of which £45 was spent on drinks. I did wonder whether Bouchon Racine would live up to the hype especially after seeing how difficult it was to get a reservation. But this was a genuinely great meal, and I look forward to a repeat visit!

Walked in off the street early 11.50 am not quite open but had a table for two at 12noon. Went for a coffee and returned at 12.05 given worst two seater table in a corner. Asked for a better table and told all taken. Had three courses and when we left the table requested had not been filled. Why do restaurants do this? Having said that the food was good if expensive for a lunch. Rabbit main course my partner liked and Cornish red mullet lovely but why offer chips with it better potatoes work have made it world class. Two crème caramels all they were cracked up to be. Will I return? I will need to save up for a few months. Staff all very efficient but being asked if I wanted anything with my Mullet I quipped that I would pass on the ketchup. Lost on him entirely.

Consistently outstanding food; my favourite new restaurant in London for 2023. Ive visited 4 times this year and have yet to order a dish that was didnt make me want to lick the plate. A very simple menu, executed to perfection. My personal favourites are the bayonne ham & celeriac remoulade starter, the rabbit main and the pot aux chocolate for dessert. The wine menu is long enough to provide options but short enough to fit on one page; the waitstaff do an excellent job of pairing recommendations. In fact, the staff here sonan excellent job all round.

Amazing meal (again) at Bouchon Racine last night. Chicken boudin bland warm salad starter and Roast Grouse main two of the best dishes I ve ever eaten. Genuinely special. Was there on Thursday. Make a reservation from Singapore 1 week before I landed. Best to call them directly. Love their food. Its more towards French Traditional cooking which you cannot find in Singapore. A must try. Their menu is writing on a chalkboard so it changes from time to time. Total damage was £130+ for 2 appetizers, 2 mains, 2 glasses of wine, 1 btl of mineral water and a dessert. I will said for the price and food type I will go back again and in Singapore you will never get to try these kind of food without burning a hole in your wallet

Once again an excellent journey back in time to classic French cuisine un hommage a Lyon not the heavily worked (over-refined?) creations of chefs chasing Michelin rosettes but the faithful continuation of the tradition which brings the best out of the ingredients and nourishes the taste buds and the soul. Ingredients are carefully sourced from tip-top boudin noir in the Assiette du Bouchon down to the cornichons with the substantial chicken liver pate. High marks also for the very good (Lavazza) coffee. And new faces in the front-of-house team did not affect the standard of service efficient and pleasant as always. Nostalgia comes as an uncharged extra; we will be back for further exploration a la recherche du temps perdu .

overall: authentic french bistro with every single dish to die for. great atmosphere for date night, fancy dinner or simply there to enjoy the food. steak tartare : a classic staple executed perfectly, served with warm crispy sourdough. rabbit : haven t tried enough rabbit dishes to comment on the meat, but it has the same tenderness of chicken thighs. really enjoyed how the mustard sauce adds a mellow warmth. bavette : perfectly cooked steak, still pink inside. salsa cuts through the greasiness of steak. duck breast : slightly chewy cut of meat (in a good way) with a strong gamey flavour. love all the side veggies & THE SAUCE (love that they serve extra sauce on the side) creamed spinach : you can taste the umami from the foie gras. tho the texture can be a less creamy, as it was almost soup-like crème caramel : simple but delicious pot de crème : it s not too sweet, which i love.

Lovely intimate restaurant with fantastic artworks and ambient lighting. Our waiters were very friendly and knowledge on all fronts from the food to the wine. The menu is truly authentic French cuisine, there is a dish to please all tastes but very meat focused. We thought the escargots were amazing! The white sausage was slightly too soft a texture and had an overly processed look about it. The rabbit was amazing with the haricot vert and mustard sauce, as were the fries. However the bavette was slightly chewy, so about 50/50 on very good to average.

I chose Bouchon Racine for our lunch club on the basis of great reviews and boy what a great choice! What an amazing meal. Having had a couple of drinks in the pub downstairs we made our way to our table and were welcomed warmly by the lovely staff. Unlike many restaurants these days they seem to have plenty of staff, all of whom seem to enjoy what they are doing. Eyebrows were raised when we ordered the Magret de Canard and Cote de Boeuf sharing platters in addition to mains for everyone - the waiter said it caused some laughs in the kitchen. However, not only did we meet the challenge of the mains but the creme caramel dessert was so good a couple of us had two! The food was superb. The melt in the mouth charcuterie and chicken liver pate were stand out starters and all the mains were excellent and perfectly cooked - hake x 2, rabbit x 2 , veal chops x 2 and the aforementioned duck and beef. We sat down at 2.30 and gently squeezed out of our seats at 6 and we had a ball. Incredibly the bill for 6 of us came to around £900 even with all the extras and several bottles of wine and pisco sours. So good to see some good value bottles on a wine list in London for a change. Overall, incredible value compared to any other London venue of similar (or inferior) quality. Cant wait to return - if I can get a booking, given how popular the place is now.
