Cant say enough good things about this place. They have the magic formula - I went in, saw multiple things on the menu and wine list, could only choose a couple, really enjoyed them and knew while there Id have to go back to try some other stuff. Had the prix fixe - good value and tasty food! 24/09 - update. Still excellent. Friendly team, good food, excellent wine list. Will be back!

Wonderful food! Weve being going to Davids for years - mostly for family events which include our senior members. The service is always good and the menu interesting. There is local parking but not on-site.

Disappointed when I ordered the duck special and the boar belly. The duck was dry and overcooked, they destroyed a classic dish. The boar was completely undercooked with a piece that had 0 meat and only fat, belly is supposed to be marbled meat and fat and not undercooked. I could not finish the meal due to an upset stomach took it home only to be thrown out. The only good part was the sticky toffee pudding. Would never return to this place. I am a fine dining enthusiast and foodie and this was a big disappointment.

Benjamin was a fantastic server, made wonderful cocktails and was friendly throughout. Food was astonishing as well, would happily go back any day.

My friends and I had a great time at Davids Bistro tonight. The food was delicious and plentiful and left us excited to come back and try more. What made the experience over the top amazing was the service. I hope the owner knows she has a gift in making people feel warm, welcome and fancy. She was so easy to chat with aswell as funny. The food has me reccomending this restaurant, the service is why Ill be back soon.

We have been going to Davids Bistro for about 12 years for special dinners out (birthdays, anniversaries) and have never had a bad meal. The service is top notch too- you feel like family. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would!

Our first (and definitely not last) dinner at Davids Bistro. We drove all the way from Ottawa for dinner (also for a visit with my mother-in-law). It was a wonderful dinner: great food, wine and service. Thank you!

Classic French and European cuisine with a modern twist

We had a blast coming here for our 6 month anniversary. The food was lovely and the service was beyond superb. Our server, Ryan, was incredibly kind. We will definitely be returning!

Davids never disappoints for special occasion outings for our family. We headed here for my husbands birthday. Our server, Ryan led us joyously and impeccably through our entire visit, sharing the fine details of the ingredients and flavours of each entree. We had the duck confit, a special Lake Erie pickerel dish, seafood cassoulet, and perfectly cooked filet mignon. We explained that we had birthday cake waiting for us at home and wouldnt be getting dessert. No problem! They prepared a special Happy Birthday small plate with candle for the birthday celebrant! The ambience, vibe, mellow playlist and flavours make us coming back here year after year. Stay casual, chic and cool Davids!

OMG the LM&C!! Picked up the lobster Mac & cheese from the Sunday dinner menu and OMG!! It is without a doubt the BEST Mac and cheese I ve ever had. The chunks of lobster are immense and the flavours? Rich, creamy and succulent. This is our go to treat restaurant in London. The service has never disappointed and the menu is always varied and spectacular. Wine pairings with each course is a special treat. And the sticky toffee pudding is to die for.

Delightful downtown spot with a charming ambiance and great food. The shrimp and bacon pasta was the star here - these shrimp were so massive I thought they were crawfish at first! Very reasonable price/quality ratio.

We came here as a family and each appetizer and meal was scrumptious! David was an incredible waiter and host. The flavors were delicious, the wine pairings David brought for us were perfect, and overall it was a great night with great food! Will be back next time we re in London!

The motivation for him isn t any form of bragging rights but rather a love of food and the shared dining experience. The quality and consistency of the plate combined with all the other elements of service and married to what those who appreciate a great meal out, have built up a large and loyal (in some cases multigenerational) family of regular customers who are treated like an extended Bistro family. The diversity of the menu with the ever creative Prix Fixe selections while his keeping tried and true favourites make this a place you always want to return to. Chef Chapman has an inviting personality that shines through from the moment you enter until you leave sated from yet another great dining experience. His love of food and knowledge of ingredients and techniques are clearly a passion and he is happy to share his wit and culinary wisdom along with a canny sense of wine pairing to help you get the most of your time with him and his great staff. I have to say that David sort of personifies the Bistro ethos and experience as he is a casual and relaxed and most of all an inviting and warm personality. The Bistro vision he started with remains as authentic today as when he first set out on this particular journey. Truly a jewel in the crown of the London dining scene and without a doubt a must visit for anyone who enjoys a great meal, but more importantly a great meal out. I have never had a bad meal or experience here and every visit ends with me looking forward to the next one.

Great food, no wonder it s always busy. We had the rabbit pate as appetizer which was amazing. I can t recall the name tho. As for main course, I had scallops with salmon on top and that dish was delicious too.

Excellent restaurant that we go to every year. The trust me menu is always a great experience that always surprises and impresses our family.

Quaint atmosphere, quiet and very comfortable. We were welcomed, had our coats hung for us and seated right away. The gentleman who served us during our stay was the owner who clearly had great pride in his staff and establishment, and so he should. The food portions were very generous and very flavourful. I d mentioned we were going to share the starter Caesar which was thoughtfully brought out to us on two plates. (Superb attention to details!!!) The chef was on point with food temp, taste and presentation. We will most definitely make the 25 minute drive to dine here again. Prices very reasonable. Staff amazing. A great evening out for dinner.

Whenever I am in town I make a point of visiting this establishment. As I can think of no better restaurant than Davids in London for a night out to enjoy fine food and fine company. It consistently provides an excellent meal with great service. Highly recommended. Dietary restrictions: My dining partners had various dietary restrictions, all of which were accommodated.

We recently enjoyed a wonderful evening at David s Bistro. A special birthday for my wife. The courses were all amazing and Bens suggestions and attentive service was appreciated. We enjoyed a chat with David near the end of our meal, who rightfully is proud of his family-owned and operated establishment.

First visit since before covid. Great service, great atmosphere, food was exceptional. Will be back Parking: Construction downtown has things screwed up for now. We parked across from the courthouse and had a 2 block walk. Well worth the effort.

I had a last minute decision to go to Daves tonight for dinner. It is important to make a reservation here, since it is usually full. I ordered a 3 course meal and was extremely delighted with my choice. The chef made an amazing meal I enjoyed very much. The staff is friendly and attentive. I will return.

I thought I would call the health department before posting this my wife and I tried to go for a 6 pm meal last night we are from Bc we furnished our proof of vaccines card and I BC DL as we have at many establishments. It was refused saying he wanted the URL or Whatever. The health department said obviously not everyone has a phone or access to technology. The only case for refusing would be if he thought it was fake vaccine cards I had no time or tolerance to jump through hoops so these people can take my money. I will never return and we are serious foodies . Total waste my time

I still am thinking/drooling about the green garlic sauce from the gnocchi & lamb appetizer, and the wine selection was wonderful (with excellent suggestions from staff based on our wine preferences). The boar was cooked perfectly, and the jus was divine. We will absolutely be back for more, and hope to try everything the menu has to offer, as well as new seasonal additions. A perfect date night restaurant, with great ambience and, most importantly, impeccable food!

My amazing husband brought me to Davids Bistro. It was the most amazing night (my 44th birthday) and the fooooood I cant even tell you how amazing it was. Please go and enjoy the atmosphere and the wonderful staff you must experience this place.

Modified the menu to our likings and preferences. Beautiful penmanship on the menu s as they are hand written by her. I asked her about the paintings she had on display and she mentioned they were from a local artist whom they support. Wide variety of wine selection, good portions dishes and desserts. mouth watering lamb shank (my personal favourite), mushroom Risotto and garlic mashed potatoes that my 6 month old enjoyed. A beacon of light in what otherwise has been a dark year this bistro has continued to serve very high quality food. The New Year s Eve menu of lobster salad, beef tenderloin, and poached pears was outstanding April18/21 Sunday menu of the delicious fisherman,s pie shrimp and scallops in tarragon cream sauce topped with Yukon gold mash potatoes and Parmesan cheese absolutely delicious. The surprise was an incredible salmon rillette with charred citrus marmalade served on crostinis. The gentle taste of the salmon enhanced with the charred citrus marmalade along with the crunch of the crostini put the senses into overdrive. Once again this bistro has outdone itself.

This review is more about the attitude of the owner than the food and atmosphere. The pro-medical segregationist owner made the comment to me how great it was that unvaccinated people couldnt come in the the restaurant, and how wonderful it was that all of the sheep citizens were complying. My sister, who has anaphylaxis to the vaccine component, despite her EpiPen, medical letter etc, was not allowed to dine. Not because she had COVID of course, but because of the tyrany this place supports. Not coming back.

The food is always amazing! David and his staff are always very friendly and will do everything they can to accommodate your wishes to make sure you have a great dinning experience.

Davids is a cosy bistro with friendly, personal service and a varied and varying menu including a prix fixe option. They also have a comprehensive wine list. Its a great place for a special event.

The taste and service here is a special experience. The dishes we had were all well done. The wine collection is to die for. This place is probably the best tasting experience you could possibly have in the city of london. I enjoyed the cornish hen with risotto. Juicy, and mouth watering. Favorite was the Char Siu pork tenderloin. My god it was the best appetizer I have ever had. Wasnt a huge fan of the rabbit but it was still enjoyable.

We came in from out of town for a show. Even before we got our drinks, David came over and asked if we had come all the way from Toronto (Since wed made a reservation and our number was 416 on the contact list, I guess he figured it out). Was so friendly asking why we were in town, talking about the renovations at The Music Hall, and how he wished hed bought a house in Toronto back in the 60s. Was telling us a bit about his history, so sweet and welcoming. Waiter was fantastic as well, very funny and friendly and made is feel so at ease with our decisions. The second glass of Pinot he brought me on his recommendation was absolutely fantastic. And the food, oh my god the food!!! I had the Prix Fixe three course meal, and for the price, absolutely amazing value. My wife ordered off the Specials/Regular menu and absolutely loved all she had as well. The sauce on her Salmon was so good we asked for extra bread just to sop it all up! And dont REPEAT DONT skip dessert. My bread pudding with bourbon ice cream was indulgent, delicious and so satisfying. My wifes spiced orange cheesecake with cranberry compote tasted like Fall/Winter on a plate. Its been a long time since Ive tasted something that just opened up a sense memory for me, and that cheesecake did exactly that. We will definetly be back when we are in town again! Highly, highly recommended!!!!

Best restaurant in London.

First visit and such an amazing dinner! We had a group of 6 and everyone was a member of the clean plate club. While most of our table went with the braised short ribs, I had the prix fixe menu with a salmon starter and pork tenderloin and it was just perfect. And the sticky toffee pudding was a definite hit with us all!

Had a very good dinner at Davids Bistro. We were treated immediately upon arriving and seated. Service was exceptional, with our waiter who was very pleasant and professional almost immediately tending to out table. Bread and rosemary butter was brought out as we went over our menus. Drinks came quick, and one of the best Manhattans Ive ever had I must add. The appetizers were not far behind and really set the stage for mouth watering main course. I had the duck confit, while my spouse had the Nova Scotia scallops with smoked trout, both were flavoured and cooked to perfection. Enjoyed every last bite, had an all around great experience, will definitely return and would definitely recommend.

David s has become our go to spot for special occasion dining (and truth be told it really should be our go to on non special occasions when we just feel like a fantastic meal for reasonable price). The balance achieved between quality and diversity of menu combined with great service and what I feel is a warm ambience is not easily achieved or maintained but David Chapman and his team pull it off every time (in our experience). Our most recent experience was like every other, a great meal at a very reasonable cost. We had David looking after our table and his recommendations took an already elevated dining experience that little bit higher. I enjoy both cooking and eating and being able to talk recipe and ingredients added to my dinner experience and my wife (who s birthday we were celebrating) felt she had a perfect evening out. Lots of reviews about the myriad of great food creations to try....so revisit an old friend or make a new one....at David s Bistro.

Had the venison special which was very delicious. The dessert chocolate tartine was amazing. Would definitely recommend and am definitely coming back for the dessert again.

Great food and service

This place has amazing service. Probably the nicest staff that I have ever dealt with. The food here was cooked perfectly, the chicken was perfectly moist and delicious. The only down fall to this place is that its very small and its tight inside. The price is on the higher end but you definitely get what you pay for. As for the parking situation, well since this place is downtown you can park free after 6 on the street or or your can pay for parking.

Incredible service, incredible atmosphere. All the food we ordered (a feature of arctic char, and a seafood stew off the menu) was incredible, and the portions were so generous we took an entire meal home. Great spot for dessert and coffee, the desserts are made fresh and very elegant.

Honestly the best restaurant in London over the last decade.The space and staff create a rare warmth of inviting you into their home which happens to be a French bistro. The food is top notch, inventive without reaching too far; no matter what night you decide to make reservations or just walk in....dressed casually....because it s unpretentious like that.

They dont bother with frou frou or dress up your plate with dry ice or something stupid. Simple. Amazing. Food. Go here if you havent. Its a London must. If you have and dont care for it... David s is a pillar in the London community and an all time favourite of ours! You can ALWAYS count on superb service, food, beverage and ambience. Everything made from scratch by their talented chefs! Every course beautifully presented for your dining delight. The daily prix fixe menu is a welcome affordable option to endulge in for 2 or 3 courses. At David s you feel like like they really care about building a relationship with you, not just serving your meal!

David s Bistro has ruined all other dining for us. It s hard to ever go elsewhere when you know that you can expect excellence at David s. When I do try other restaurants they are always a let down by comparison.

No doubt about it, this is the best restaurant in London. David himself is an absolute gentleman, often serving tables, interacting with his guests, bar tending, and hosting. The food itself would give a Michelin 2-Star restaurant a run for its money, but the experience at Davids goes beyond the plate. With extremely affordable and fair pricing, I question anyone who would choose a chain restaurant over Davids. Family owned and operated for at least 20 years, this is a fine establishment. I will warn though, to enjoy the experience, you will need to book days in advanced, as it is a small restaurant, and they like it this way. This ensures every guest is taken care of in respect to time, and experience. I can honestly say, every time I visit I ask myself why I bother dining out or ordering food from anywhere else in this city, thank you David!

Such an intimate place. Small, quiet atmosphere with delicious food and wonderful hosts!

It feels pretty good.

Honestly one of the best places I have ever eaten! We had the trust me and we never would have ordered some of the food we ate this evening however we have been converted! Food was super reasonably priced for the amazing food we got and the wine was superb! What made it better was Davids obvious love, passion for food, his restaurant and customers. The atmosphere was amazing! I would go to this restaurant a hundred times over, if we come back to london Davids would be 100% on our list of must go to! No food photos unfortunately everything got devoured far too quickly!!!

David at some points served our table. He was nice. But the main female server was terrible. She was consistently rude and ungracious she made me and my husband, who was celebrating his birthday at the restaurant (I m using my husband s phone as i write this), feel as if we owe it to her to dine at the restaurant. Because of the bad service from the female server, we are not inclined to return to this restaurant. Decent food; the 4.8 google rating is definitely overrated.
