Had the giant prawns, which were good.. Moussaka was very good.. Service excellent..Could do without the Christmas music, but thats just me.

The food was very good and the service too. Its a bit cramped in the restaurant, but you can sometimes talk to your neighbors. Highly recommended!

What a rich Greek in the middle of Candem. Everything we ordered was spectacular: the moussaka, the lamb,... And the top service, super friendly. 100% recommended.

Came from Hampshire to eat here on recommendation of GaryEats. A rather disappointing experience overall. Waiters were more interested in chatting to young ladies on a corner table (for over 30 minutes) than helping the waitress or checking on how our meals were. Food was good, but not outstanding. We were not asked if we would like sweets or drinks after our mains and had to chase the bill. No complimentary shot and/or Baclava which Gary was informed everyone received - not just him because it was being filmed for tv.

On vacation in London, we were received by Benji, wonderful welcome and good food, a warm moment, I recommend this place.

It is a small intimate warmly decorated restaurant with a very friendly and caring staff. The food was good. Vegan Dolmades was my favourite dish. Houmous was delicious. The BBQ lamb was a bit too dry and lacked seasoning and spices. The prawns were very very good. Atmosphere could easily be a 5 but sadly a large office party of mainly loud middle aged men fresh out of the pub felt it was necessary to shout about how merry they were......very obnoxious. I would call and check if they have a large booking before going. Thank God we were almost done. I was tempted to ask the group to shut up! Oh, the pistachio cake was really good.

Bland meal and poor service.

Delicious dinner. We had booked at the restaurant in front (Andromeda) but they did not honour our booking, so we tried here. We were very positively surprised! Despite having a busy night they found us a table very quickly. Food was very good, particularly the vine leaves (dolmadakia). The atmosphere is charming, with traditional wall and a beautiful plant climbing on the walls. We even tried a traditional Cretan digestive which was delicious! We will certainly be back!

We went to this restaurant for a family gathering to get together and celebrate birthdays. The atmosphere was cosy and welcoming. We ordered a few starters to share between us (9 people) and there was plenty for everyone. The main courses were also generous size and delicious quality. The Alexander vegetarian platter was amazing! We booked an early table but never felt rushed that we should vacate for a later sitting. When Eileen found out it was our birthday she was excited to celebrate and brought out a cake with sparklers and candles. She treated us like friends even though it was our first visit there. Its not local for us but I hope we will visit again .

An amazing little restaurant! We discovered it by chance a couple of years ago and had such a lovely experience. The atmosphere is very cozy, the staff friendly and welcoming and the food was absolutely delicious. Alexander the Great has definitely made our list of places to dine whenever we re in London!

Wow. Beautiful cosy environment, warm atmosphere matched by the warmth of our host Maria. Was recommended the lamb or chicken bbq, couldnt decide, thankfully we got both. Incredible. Alexander souvlaki was incredible also. My only regret is I dont have a bigger belly to immediately eat it all again. Will definitely be back. Much love.

I had a very good experience. The service was friendly and quick (being alone). I had hummus as starter then the plain lamb kebab with salad: that was huge!! The lamb was very good, the salad too (nice feta).

I bought takeaway food, and the food didn t have any salt and they gave me the order without takeaway cutlery, how am I supposed to eat the food with my hands. Not worth the price on my opinion

Gorg place, love the green decor with busts dotted around the room. There were little fish tanks with 1-2 fishes each. So cute. There s two floors, ground and basement. I sat on the ground floor as a walk in with someone else. We ordered the mix meze dish which was filling for the two of us. We were going to order a starter, but it was going to have the same foods as the mix meze, so the server was very nice and pointed it out so we wouldn t double order. The music was a bit loud in the evening and we sat near the stairs, but it was alright as I could hear the person opposite me if we slightly raise our voice. Food was yum!! A bit on the oiler side and would ve been nicer to get a bit more veggies. Would go again, it was around £25 for the both of us, so £12.5 each.

Bringing authentic Cypriot food to North London! - I had my 30th birthday here on Friday night and I couldnt have asked for a better resturant to host it in. From start to finish, the owners and staff (Maria) went above and beyond to make sure my party of 30 people had a night to remember from being so accommodating of dietary requirements to bringing out plates to smash and greek dancing for the cake. I agree with a recent review...the music is too loud, and all the people were raising their voices to be heard over it. Considering the restaurant is quite small, the noise was unbearable. Place was good. Good vibes, had music in the background which was a nice addition, not too loud either so can still have a good conversation. Food was good, got the tarama, tzatziki, halloumi, saganaki and the house mixed grill. All were good, my favourite was the house mixed, all meats were very very good and a big variety from sheftalia, souvlaki, loukaniko, lountza and more. Top quality food. Additionally, the service was great, extremely friendly staff, made me feel at home. And at the end they gave us complimentary ouzo. I definitely recommend this place if you want an authentic Greek experience.

Stelios the owner of this restaurant has set a precedent amongst his staff for inflating the bill,anybody eating and drinking at this establishment MUST check their bill----item by item,they will chat away to you and give you good service and half decent food,they may even offer you a free drink on the house,they then present you with a hand written bill that IS NOT itemised and even if you think its wrong by this time theyve snared you and its too embarrassing to challenge the bill and you dont want to spoil the evening---only last night when I did check the bill for only the 2 of us ,they had overcharged us by £30 !,they were full of empty apologies----I know this place of old but was hoping it had changed----obviously I wont be returning!.

Excellent Greek restaurant in the heart of Camden, and in my opinion, the better of the 2 on this street for food, atmosphere / ambience, and attentive staff. Prices were reasonable, and you wont come out of here hungry!

What to say! I can t believe how generous and kind the team were. Friday evening before the bank holiday, it was packed and yet they provided us with outstanding service and food. Eileen is simply incredible - she worked so hard but in the nicest possible way. We will definitely be back!

We also had dessert i.e., Pistachio Cake and Baklava. Another £12.00. Washed down with a 1/2 Carafe of Red Wine. It was all delicious and enormous. (Well it was a special occasion) So varied too. We sat outside as it was a warm evening. The place was busy but the service was still great. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian Meze

I really dont write reviews, but it was such a bad memory that I wrote it down. We ate mezze for 2 people. All the other reviews here said it was delicious, but it was so salty that I couldnt tell if it was a taste that wasnt suitable for Asians or if they were serving salty food specifically to Asians. To be honest, there were a lot of foods that were so salty that it almost felt like racism. An elderly employee came by and asked if the taste was okay, but he just said it was okay. When I finished eating and paying, they added a service charge to the bill. I saw it wasnt on the menu. I was embarrassed and asked what this was, and he confidently told me that it was a service charge, so I figured I would understand and left. Looking at other reviews, it seemed like there was dessert as well, but I just left it because I was in a bad mood. I will never go again. I think I found a store worth paying 100,000 won for.

This is by far the best Greek restaurant I have been to. The food was fresh, the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was lively and energetic. Really love place to eat.

The food was absolutely incredible. The staff was attentive and the food arrived incredibly quickly which was great! Afterwards you get a free peace of watermelon when you ask for the bill which made this whole experience extra great. I would definitely go here again and advice anyone to add this to their list. One of our diners has a gluten intolerance, but they where super helpfull and had so many options and even replaced some of the non gluten-free parts of dishes for free!

Lovely place the food and staff never disappoint

I would love to have given here a 5 star review, like so many but our experience was not as good. We ordered meze for 2 , cold starters ok, hot starter a small side plate of hot starter for 2 to shareThen came the fish ( sadly this lacked what we are currently used to in other greek tavernas in North London. We had soggy calamari and a small prawn each with the poo still in it. The came the meat section 2 small pieces of old lamb( we both agreed on this recooked , stale lamb, a few bits of very chewy pork , 2 chicken thighs and a kofte .Salad was a lovely greek salad and the rice was also good. Wine was nice. service friendly, but the waitress added another 10% to our bill despite the menu and bill clearly stating that they DO NOT add service, but left upto customer. So felt totally ripped off there. Almost 100,00 for a below average meze and a bottle of greek wine. My recommendations for meze or non meza will be absolutely Vrisaki , and Panari Taverna, and Babinondas another great greek classic.

We ordered too much of food. There was no tzatziki, or hummus that came with the meal but the olives were delicious. The kleftiko and the calamari we decent. We did get complimentary baklava which was a very nice treat.

A really Greek restaurant, almost like in Greece. Food was very good. Very nice staff. Price performance also good. One star deducted for ambience because everything is very tight.

The Greek salad was mostly lettuce, had just a few slices of tomato on the top to make it look pretty, very UK taste not what I was expecting from authentic Greek cuisine. The rest of the food was fine. Prawns were very tough and not much of them, sardines didnt taste fresh but not expecting too much for London, they were cooked well. The souvlaki was very good but you need to order the accompaniments separately otherwise its just meat and rice. Service was fine but a little hectic. They did accommodate a request we had to sit 2 groups together.

Ive been coming here for a while, especially around lunchtime.The food has always been good. Nice atmosphere, some tables outside, good menu. They also have a great £11.50 lunch menu that they advertise with a sign out on the street. I have noticed that they dont give you the lunch menu unless they have seen you before or unless you ask for it explicitly. This has happened to both myself various times, and to people sitting down at tables next to me. When I asked the waiter about this today, they told me that this is how the boss wants it. I feel uncomfortable with this. I wish they gave every customer both the regular and the lunch menu instead, so that customers are fully informed before they order.

I went with a family of 5 to this restaurant for my Mums Birthday, we brought our own cake and the staff at Alexander the Great Restaurant did a special Happy Birthday with all the bells and whistles, my mum loved it and has never experienced anything like that before. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves authentic greek food or who has never had a greek experience before. The only thing that was missing was a dance floor as i can imagine everyone getting up between eating to dance the Sousta lol

Googled best Greek restaurants in London and by reviews this hidden gem popped up. At first there s a lot of other Greeks restaurants within walking distance but here had the most customers. We popped in for quick lunch and immediately found the lunch time special very reasonably priced. Instead we ordered the Alexander mixed platter, chicken and Greek salad to share between 3 adults. Portion size was good, rice soft, crispy potatoes and meat was by far cooked to perfection. My only criticism was the need of sauce or a dip to accompany the meal and maybe less lettuce in the Greek salad but that s my own personal preference option. Thank you team at Alexander the Great!

Amazing food and wonderful staff. The recommendations they gave us were great. We ordered 2 mains and one appetizer and we were thinking of adding another appetizer, but our waitress told us it is enough, and she was more than right! Overall, a great experience.

The restaurant was very busy and we had not made a reservation but fortunately turnover was quick and we did not wait long. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was great. Servings were large and my wife and I shared a starter and a main and could not finish them. There is a really friendly vibey atmosphere.

Heard of Athens?? Dont bother. Camden has all you need. Maria goes above and beyond. Food was incredible and speedily served. Interior tasteful and friendly. Service beyond perfect. Couldnt be happier!! Will be back.

If I could give more than 5 stars for the service I absolutely would! We celebrated a 30th birthday here and had an absolute ball. We had so much delicious food, and the best atmosphere. Vassilios and Benji went above and beyond to ensure we left very full and having had a great time. They completely understood the assignment and then some!!! Great experience all round. Went here for our daughters 18th bday. They surprised her/us with baklava, candle, sparkler & bday song. Such a beautiful touch. Food was delicious & lots of it. Lovely resturant & staff. Our waiter benjy was fantastic. 10 out of 10. Will defiently be back

One of best real Greek food restaurants in London run by Greeks! Food was authentic and one of best in London with budget friendly price. It has full bar and Greek beers and wine. Must visit if you like REAL Greek food. Good vegetarian options too.

My parents were visiting London and they were craving a good Greek food. I just came back from Greece and have to say that the food here was better than in many restaurants in Greece! When we came it was a bit hectic initially and we had to order everything at once (not first starters, than mains, etc.) because the kitchen was so buys but we decided on a few starters and 4 mains and there were fantastic. Greek salad was really fresh, tzatziki and Greek grilled cheese went really well with it. For main course we had mussaka, big grilled prawns, grilled salmon and seabass. The seabass was a bit dry but nothing to complain about. We sat inside but they have a spacious outside area too!

Everything was great! Food was delicious!Vasili made us feel like we are home. We will come back for sure.

The best place ever to have your Birthday diner! Whilst having delicious food we witnessed how enthousiast they celebrated visiting London before and my daughters biggest wish was to go there to celebrate her 14th Bday. All the way from Amsterdam and it was so worth it! One tall waiter sang his guts out ( forgot his name) and we sure will be back in december when she turns 15! Cant wait

The restaurants full of rats, the prices online doesnt match the prices in the restaurant its way more expensive. The old white man that works in the restaurants so rude. I hated the experience.

First of all, the appetizer plates we ordered were so small that we almost had to use a magnifying glass to see the appetizers. The prices on the internet and the prices on the invoice we received were not the same. And the food was very stale. I will never go again and I dont recommend anyone to go. The old waiter working was also very rude..

Wonderful dinning experience! We booked the table but turned up earlier, however, we received the excellent service from the beginning to the end. The food was fabulous, delicious, generous portion and all beautifully presented. A big shout out to Vasili, amazing service which made you at ease and enjoy the whole dinner more. We have been here many times but it had been a while since our last visit. We chose to dine here for our anniversary and the standards havent dropped even a bit! We nearly always have the mixed meze, its outstanding! We were mostly helped by Vasilis and he couldnt be more welcoming and warm. He really added to the whole experience! We sat outside and watched the world go by but could still hear the music from inside. Cant recommend enough!

Despite the city, nice food

service was 10/10, a very welcoming vibe. Benji and Vasilis were our waiters and honestly they were lovely. It was my friend s 22nd Birthday, she throughly enjoyed the food ( p.s she is a fussy eater!!!!). Thank you guys for making my friends birthday dinner extra special. Will definitely be returning
