Confidently unfussy Italian cooking in a homely upstairs room or downstairs bar.
We came to Trullo after it came recommended to us for Great Italian food - it located a stones throw away from Highbury and Islington station. The table was located in the basement, giving the evening a very intimate feel. The service was good and prompt. However, they seemed quite busy overall. When cocktails arrived, they were good with the negorni in particular tasting great. The food was generally very good with the Pici cacio e pepe tasting great with plenty of depth to the dish. In addition to this, we sampled the desserts the triamasu and lemon tart were amazing also! I wasn't a fan of the Tagliarini crab & focaccia starter- as I felt this lacked depth in its favour, and the bread tasted and felt very similar to a sourdough rather than a great tasting focaccia Overall, it was a very good Italian with good service and atmosphere but not my favourite Italian place London.
Great place for a special occasion! I celebrated my birthday here and had an incredible time. The ragu and burrata were great. They even topped it off with a birthday tiramisu. Would definitely recommend. Great service, thank you!
We tried to get a table for few months in this restaurant and finally made it for my husband birthday. We weren't disappointed. The restaurant is cute not too over the top. Quite cosy even if I think the table clothes could be a bit nicer (as in paper). We had a romantic table in the underground which was perfect for the occasion. The waitress was very welcoming and nice the entire time. The menu is quite selective but I like it as it feels more authentic. We had olives as starter, I had the beef ragu pasta and my husband the fettucini. Both were very tasty and delicious. And for dessert the lemon tard and gorgonzola cheese. Same desserts were perfect. Drink wise, my husband had a campari spritz and classic negroni and weren't disappointed. Overall we recommend this restaurant as the quality of the food was really good and we had a nice evening.
Such an amazing restaurant for pasta!!! It was absolutely delicious! I didn’t realize there was a downstairs area but we got seated downstairs at a table that felt like it was a little cove just for us, it was super cute and cozy. The service was great and the atmosphere was beautiful! I got the zucchini pasta and donuts as a dessert, both were absolutely delicious.
We had such an amazing time here. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great. If they are still on the menu, we would highly recommend the Sausage Pici and the Beef Shin Ragu. Atmosphere was great too!!
Wow! This was such an amazing evening. The food is fantastic. We had the bruschetta with figs to start which was so creamy and delicious and then shared the beef shin Ragu and Dorsey crab pasta and I cannot recommend the lamb rump enough. Our waitress Nadja was so attentive and friendly she really added to the night ! We sat downstairs in a gorgeous booth. Negronis are so smooth. Finished with a tiramisu, which doesn’t disappoint ! We got a limoncello on the house as it was our anniversary which is such a touch of class ! Will definitely be back
My girlfriend and I have recently dined at Trullo and had a generally good experience. The location is good, and the service was quite good—our waitress was friendly, and the food arrived quickly. The croquette was delicious, and the tiramisu was a lovely finish. Prices were fair too. However, I was disappointed that the cacio e pepe was made with Parmesan instead of Pecorino, which changed the flavor significantly. Overall, it’s a nice spot, but stick to the items they excel at.
Agree with a few other reviews - food is absolutely amazing, we both highly enjoyed our meals and would come back. However the service was extremely slow, and wasn’t too friendly. Nice environment though, and the decor throughout was nice. Would still come back.
Brilliant experience. The food was of high quality and fresh ingredients. The bruschetta with tartare on was amazing, and the lamb was rich and perfectly cooked. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. I would 100% recommend.
Wonderful meal. Food was excellent, cocktails and wine by the glass well recommended and warm professional service. Highlights for me were the clam starter, ragu and cacio pepe pastas and panna cotta dessert. One of my best meals of 2024.
Beef shin is amazing
Great place beef shin is amazing
The food was delicious, especially the burrata, but the pasta portions were quite small. Also we were celebrating a birthday, which I did specify to them when I made the reservation, however they completely ignored it.
Super tasty pasta
My husband and i recently dined here for a date night. It was our first time and it did NOT disappoint. We were seated downstairs in a little hut which was so lovely and a total vibe. The service was wonderful and kind. We opted for the burrata and croquettes to start and then had the Ragu and the cacio pepe. Amazing from start to finish. Can t wait to come back.
So so good. The pasta was Devine. The seafood so well cooked and the service so welcoming. Will definitely be back.
Had the vegetarian fare, which was lovely even if it didnt blow the mind. The service was horrendous with the waiters constantly reminding us of the time we had to give up the table (we left 5 mins earlier than our timeslot ended)
lives were changed
Such a fantastic restaurant, beautiful food and fabulous service. Highly recommend!
This place is one of London s best! The food, the atmosphere, and the wine list are just incredible. We had two pastas cacio e pepe and pappardelle, both were perfect. I highly recommend!
Best Italian in London, hands-down. Unique cocktails as well.
My husband and I absolutely loved this place! We were seated downstairs, which we both agreed was much more intimate and charming. Elena was amazing and made our experience even more special. We started with the sourdough bread as an appetizer and each chose a pasta dish. I went with the short rib ragu, and my husband opted for the fettuccine. We really appreciated the lighter portions, especially compared to what we re used to in New York. We ended the evening with the chocolate sorbet and the doughnuts both were absolutely mouthwatering. We highly recommend this place and can t wait to return!
Yea ok
Another excellent experience at Trullo! Lunch today. Perhaps the best cocktail I have ever tasted, apple, quince, vodka and gin. Superb! Starter of clams in buttery juices, delicious. Primo was fettuccine with chicken livers, rich and perfectly balanced flavours. Chocolate sorbet perfection. Wines chosen well by our waiting staff. All was delivered with pleasant manner, giving us all the information we needed to make choices and showing their pleasure in our enjoyment of the food and wine. Definitely the best Italian restaurant in North East London. Possibly in all London. Thanks to the chefs and waiting staff. We will be back...again and again.
Great spot for dinner with friends or a date night. Lovely and helpful service too always adds a massive plus to the food.
Worth the few week wait for a table the crab linguini and sourdough were divine and the wine list was exceptional and reasonably priced. I m rarely wowed by Italian food (especially in London) but this was exceptional!
Absolutely spot on
Delicious! - Beef Shin Ragu full of flavour and the steak was out of this world! Great wine list as well. Highly recommend.
Very nice and well-kept place, excellent quality food
£15 for 5 pieces of ravioli is crazy
A very special place - excellent food and a really great atmosphere
absolutely gorgeous every piece of food i tried
Sensational meal
Food was fantastic, and service from Molly was amazing. The interior was beautiful - will definitely be visiting again.
Such lovely staff last night, cocktails and food delicious as always
I love trullo. i ve been 3 times. you know what you re getting. great food. great service. great vibes. one of my top lunch spots in London.
My favourite restaurant in London. Top quality pastas and amazing atmosphere
Beautiful food, lovely atmosphere, friendly and professional service. Highly recommend the pear salad and the beef shin ragu.
Delightful dining room, super friendly staff, obliging chef who offered a couple of off-menu choices when there was only one vegetarian pasta. Pricing much higher than sister restaurant Padella.
Great meal - couldnt really fault it. Each course was delicious, and very attentive yet unobtrusive service from our server. We shared two starters and two pastas, then had a secondi between us, then two desserts. The pasta in particular was simple yet fantastic. Worth the reputation.
Absolutely fabulous restaurant with a comfortable atmosphere that makes you want to stay all night. Menu highlights were the clams (incredible), beef shin ragu and lemon tart all which I highly recommend.
Just fabulous: food, service, ambiance. I aim to make our visits a regular occurrence
One of the best meals I ve ever eaten. I would eat here every night if I could. Best Panna Cotta in London
Attentive staff catered to allergies by offering a special menu for one of our guests, and we were offered a goldilocks sized table to seat 5 adults, a toddler and an infant in a small buggy comfortably (something that can be a challenge in london). The restaurant space is quite noisy, which is the only reason we knocked 1 star off, as it was challenging to have conversations, although Im not sure how this can be improved, other than more sound insulation. Dietary restrictions: Special menu created for one of our guest, who has a rare allergy to olives and olive oil Kid-friendliness: Offered crayons to our 3 year old, which kept him primarily sat in his seat for the 2.5 hours. Space was also made for our small buggy so that our 5 week old infant could lay flat close to us, and we could dine in comfort
It was my second time at Trullo. I came back with a friend and once again we fell in love with both the venue and the food. The monkfish carpaccio with orange and pistacchio is my favourite antipasti, it cannot be missed. The crab and mussle tagliolini were truly delicious - they reminded me of my parents home region, Tuscia, Italy. The Amalfi lemon tart left us both speechless! It was full of flavour yet delicate; it left my taste buds tingling in a happy way. Please, bring back the fig-leaf pannacotta as well
A true London gem! The kitchen works pure magic - every dish explodes with flavor. Impeccable wine pairings and wonderfully kind staff make the experience unforgettable. The lighting and ambiance are perfect. Londoners are lucky to have this spot on their doorstep. Visitors, dont miss it - this is London dining at its finest. Tip: Book ahead!
Quite a let down. Service was good, food was ok, but atmosphere was pretty hectic, plus the place was absolutely boiling. Sorella in Clapham is much better value and has a way better atmosphere.
Excellent meal all round.
This amazing Italian restaurant offers a cozy ambiance and authentic flavors that transport you to Italy. Every bite is a delight. The friendly staff and impeccable service make dining here a memorable experience. A true taste of Italy in every dish.
Trullo consistently ranks among the best Italian restaurants in the city, and for good reason. This cozy, understated, and romantic spot isn t chasing trends it s here to serve classic Italian dishes with care and expertise. The service is impeccable, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who make you feel at home. We started with the fig and goat cheese and mozzarella with pesto antipasti both excellent, though the pesto was a standout, among the best I ve ever tasted. Good tip: order the sourdough to go with it! The beef shin pappardelle came highly recommended, and it lived up to the hype. The fresh pasta and perfectly balanced sauce make it a must-try. While the cod and lamb were also well-prepared, the price-to-quality ratio for the meats could be better. The wine list, though exclusively Italian, offered a fantastic selection of Nebbiolo varieties, which made up for the lack of diversity. For dessert, their panna cotta with caramel sauce offered a pleasant twist, and though the tiramisu was a bit dry, it still hit the spot. Reservations are easy enough to secure, but I d recommend booking ahead, especially from Thursday to Sunday.
Good food but kid portions. Everyone at the table had to order a second plate of pasta and desert cause we were still hungry!
Beautiful atmosphere and great food, every time.
Our server was fantastic and made wonderful suggestions. Will highly recommend to anyone coming to visit London!
Really enjoyed the quality of the food. Prepared and presented really nicely. The pace of service was just right - unhurried but not slow.
Great atmosphere, lovely staff, wonderful food
Great place... Food delicious and a really good wine list very reasonably priced
What a great place. Superb atmosphere, attentive staff and excellent food. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Strongly recommended.
Sensational meal. Fresh food, great flavours, loved the wine list!
The courgette fettucine is heavenly!
We came here for our wedding lunch and food, service and ambience were perfect. We took our time, three and and half hours, and felt welcome and comfortable. Highly recommended!
Would highly recommend Trullo, everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! We shared the sourdough bread, croquettes, and burratta with pesto to start. The pesto was incredible. Then for mains we shared the beef shin ragu, courgette pasta, and lamb, which was cooked perfectly. I dont think I could pick a favorite dish because everything was that good. We also had the house chianti which was very smooth and paired nicely with the lamb and the ragu. We will definitely be back!
The second time coming and we were hoping it would live up to expectations, and it so did! Food was great, ambience was great (down to.lighting etc), and Saoibh was a great mf attentive host. Please pass on thanks. Will definitely be back
Gluten-free options available.
Loved the atmosphere and the food was mostly gorgeous save the desserts which we felt let it down somewhat
We had a fantastic visit to Trullo. Everything was great and it was enhanced by the beautiful service provided by Beth, who was exemplary. The vibe is relaxed but everything flows so smoothly. The food was all on point and the wine (recommended by Beth) was also very good and reasonably priced. If you re in the area go, if you re not, get on a bus or tube and go! Thanks all
Really enjoyed the food here. The mozzarella with prosciutto and melon and the fettuccine with sausage were quite good. Took a star off because they hit me with a 1 pound donation and a 12.5% service charge on the bill. As well as allowing non-service dogs inside the restaurant next to my table.
Fantastic spot, one of the best pastas in town!
16 people in our party. We all had a great experience and were well fed and watered.
Great atmosphere and lovely atmosphere. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food was stunning. Would highly recommend!
Perfect wedding lunch for 15 in their private dining space. Food, wine and service was amazing with special thanks to Nikki for being a dream when organising. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free friend all catered for and she was very happy Kid-friendliness: Even catered for my young niece and nephew
We returned here for the first time in many years and were delighted to see it still going strong. We should have known that it was still good because we struggled to get a table and think we must have caught a last minute cancellation. After a short wait, we were sat downstairs at one of the alcove tables. At first, I was disappointed to be downstairs away from the gorgeous main restaurant. But actually downstairs was perfect. Having an enclosed table was lovely and intimate and perfect for our anniversary meal. The food was fantastic and our waitress was more than happy to help us match wine to each course. I would definitely recommend doing wine by the glass - rather than getting a bottle - particularly if you want to go full Italian and have antipasti, primi, and a secondi. That way, you get to match wine to each course. If its a normal menu fixture, Id definitely recommend the sausage Ragu and the cod. One lovely touch was the menu: as we had told them it was our anniversary, the menu included a message to congratulate us. A small touch that was not unnoticed. Be prepared for an expensive bill, but its totally worth it!
If youre looking for Italian food, this is a very good representation of what a good Italian eatery looks like. Although its a little far out of the main city, Id actually travel here if Im craving for some good Italian food. Mozzarella di bufala with pesto genovese actually went very well with the sourdough bread that they give. The grilled brixham sardines with pinenuts, sultanas and moscatel vinegar was superb, although it sounds quite complex. Had the classic favourites, pappardelle with beef shin ragu, and the tagliarini with picked dorset crab, amalfi lemon and chilli. Both pastas were very enjoyable. Washed it all down with some Pinot Grigio white wine, some tiramisu, and some panna cotta.
Quaint little neighborhood restaurant with a daily menu
Superb dinner - memorable evening - staff and chef engaging!
I went to Trullo 2 years ago and the pasta was over cooked and tasted mediocre. I spent the last 2 years calling it the most overrated spot in London. I was convinced to go back for another try. Turns out 2 years ago must have been an off night. This time was incredible, one of the best meals I ve had in London. Perfectly cooked.
Felt harassed as they dont accept cash.
Wonderful surprise to see happy anniversary on our menus and a great table downstairs in an alcove, normally for 4 or 5 people, thank you. Only criticism is we weren t told we had to vacate table within 2 hours and had to finish our drinks upstairs in the wine bar.
The food was ok. Came here to try out the tiramisu. The pasta I had was decent. A bit on the salty side, but I personally like that. Tiramisu review (Maria s tiramisu quest): perfect level of sweetness, as in not too sweet. The biscuits were just right, but the cream was too separate from them. I also found it a bit on the heavier side like it could have done with either some more eggs or liquid mixed in. It overall tasted like it was made on the same day as serving, which is fine but I personally believe tiramisu needs at least one day for the flavours to really mix.
You won t get better pasta in London than at Trullo. I m local to the restaurant and see them hand-making pasta everyday. They have a small menu that changes often, and everything is always delicious. Highly recommend this place!
Nadia and Jack are amazing. Thank you for a wonderful night
The best.
Really poor experience at Trullo. It has been on my list for a while however my partner and I were left so underwhelmed. We were sat down stairs in an uncomfortably hot room, zero fans or AC which was truly unbearable in the heat. A couple of other tables were seated after us and had much more tentative service. Both tables were given menus before us, had orders taken before us and were served before us despite us being there 10+ mins before. Starter plates were left on our table and not cleared whilst said tables were being served mains. Nobody asked how the food was, if they had they would have known it was not great. My pasta was undercooked- not al dente. My partners pork was OK, however there were only a couple of bites of meat and the rest was a thick unrendered piece of fat. Truly some of the worst service weve had though, I asked for no service charge and paid as quickly as possible to get out of the sauna. Im therefore rather surprised to see that I was in fact charged service. Honestly, there are so many better restaurants around Highbury/Upper Street, Id recommend giving this overpriced and underwhelming place a miss and go elsewhere.
Nice place with Italian cuisine. I ate well, I recommend booking in advance because, being small, you risk not finding a seat
Wonderful time at Trullo, and they can make a vegan menu on the day when you book. Food was fantastic, the service was just wonderful. Highly recommended
The best Italian in London
One of my most favourite restaurants in London. Staff are amazing. Food is delicious.
Omg the pasta here!! If you just have pasta is not even that expensive. I specially recommend the ragú. The carpaccio was also delicious as well as the burrata. Ask for seating downstairs as the downstairs is a bit dark. Vegetarian options: Lots of starters, pasta and a roasted aubergine as a main.
In my opinion, one of the best restaurants in London. I rated it 5 stars because it is worth it. Price-wise a bit expensive so only go there for special occasions. Service charge should be removed altogether not because the service does not deserve it (they do), but because it is an unfair charge on the consumer - if the restaurant would like to include it then it should be like a marketing preference, that is, do not include it automatically to the bill. And definitely do not add an extra charge for charities.
Amazing service, incredible food, would recommend to anyone!
Nice place. Got the pappardelle with the beef shin ragu- nice but could have done with a bit of spice perhaps. The beef carpaccio and bread was great. The waitress was lovely. Book in advance to secure a table or very last minute and hope to get a cancelled booking.
Fantastic restaurant. Tried the Burrata, Fettuccine, Cacio e Pepe, Mackerel, and Tiramisu. Everything tasted great and the service was on point.
Would recommend the pastas, the other dishes are just okay and quite underwhelming after hearing such positive reviews. My drink was served with a rogue piece of paper towel floating in it. I had to request a new one and when the server came by they quickly took it away and served a new one with an apology, felt like that also let down the whole experience as the wait staff all seemed rushed off their feet. Felt like accidents like this was not a one off as the service didn t improve much for the rest of our dinner.
Excellent dining experience. Tasty food, great service with a cool and cozy atmosphere downstairs. Was the perfect restaurant to celebrate a birthday.
Exceptional! We went here for birthday dinner and I wouldnt have wanted to eat anywhere else. The food was unreal, the pastas were a decent size and all delicious. The staff were very helpful with menu and service was superb!
An amazing place, delicious food, nice atmosphere and great service. Will definitely come back here again! Such a great spot!
Best dinner we had in London and certainly in Islington. From the quality of the freshly made pasta, meats, and apps, through to the service, it s all 10s. If you walk by and see a packed restaurant, that s already a good sign. If you sit and eat and realize it s mostly locals, that s a second good sign. And once you taste the food and have happy kids at the end of the meal, you re in for a great night. Throw in the fact that they cater to kids as well (my daughter loved their fresh pasta with butter and parm), you can t go wrong. Also, save room or ask for a slice of their chocolate tart to go. You will be very happy.
Thank you
Private birthday party downstairs- fantastic service and enough food to last a week. Absolutely delicious Dietary restrictions: Fabulous alterations for dietary needs
The service here is impeccable! I also love that the menu changes weekly, so theres always the chance to try something new.
Just yummy and great ethos. Pricey, of course
We had a really gorgeous dinner here, will be coming again and again!
Excellent food and service! Favourite was Tagliarini with mussels and the grilled sea bass
Excellent local Italian near Highbury. We went for lunch with friends and enjoyed everything we ordered - starters, mains and desserts. Great quality and very tasty food. Would recommend.
We celebrated our first anniversary at Trullo and had an amazing time! The service was great and the food was delicious. Thank you for making our evening special!
Great food and atmosphere
Unfortunately, Trullo really let themselves down on our visit for dinner last week. My partner ordered the muscles pasta which was extremely gritty and tasted as if there was sand mixed in it. I ordered the beef ragu pasta which I struggled to find a piece of beef in. When paying for the bill we were greeted by an ignorant waiter which hid the screen of the card machine when holding up it up for payment. To our disbelief, he had not only added tip % without asking, he also added an additional charity payment. A really really disappointing dinner and would advise to stay away at all costs!!
The food is just too good.
Over-rated. Expensive @salami was awful service slow & sloppy. Pretentious, will not be going back.
What can I say blown away by the hospitality and the service expecially from Beth one of the waiters super friendly. Asked for a nice cozy table and definitely got one. The atmosphere is perfect for a date. Food amazing will def be back !!! Dietary restrictions: I had a menu already at the table with what I could or couldn t eat.
It was on my list for a while and finally managed to go to celebrate my birthday. It was exactly what I wanted. Great food and amazing service. Thank you. Well be back.
Downstairs is very loud due to loud music and people trying to talk even louder to be heard. Service was very average. Food was good (but not great). Overall, the experience was not as good as during another visit years ago (when Trullo was a Bib Gourmand). Get a table on the ground level - much nicer (and hopefully less loud as well). And yes, its one of those places that adds a random £1 charity donation to your bill... given the prices charged, the restaurant should be able to fund such a donation if they are so interested in the cause!
Great cuisine
If I could give more stars I would! The food is absolutely divine! The service is excellent and the place is cosy and well maintained. As starters we had the beef carpaccio and the burrata with grilled flat peach and basil. The beef was very tasty and the burrata was light and creamy! Our mains were fettuccine with veal and the pici with pepper sauce. They were both delicious and light. We got the tiramisu to share as it was a generous portion. It was fresh and light. I cannot recommend this place enough! We will return!
Amazing place ,food and service !! Highly recommended!! We walked in on Saturday around 18.00 for 2 people without reservation and luckily they had a table and they even offered a better table with a time limitation if we were okay with that. Service was really good and fast, staff was knowledgeable on all menu items. I got the burritofor starters and beef carpaccio, and for main the pici cacio e pepe, a red wine and tiramisu shared. The portions were really good, and the food was tasty and balanced. Will definitely go back again with a reservation this time!!
Fab place, food was great, service was lovely. Cant wait to return and try another yummy dessert! Thanks for squeezing us in.
Downstairs is very loud due to music and people trying to talk even louder to be heard. Our server were doing her best, but had perhaps a few tables too many, that made service good, not great. Food is also good, just not great yesterday.
Usually sceptical about Italian restaurants in London but Trullo was really good. Excellent service, the Skate was genuinely excellent. Highly recommend.
Imaginative and absolutely delicious Italian food
Underwhelming service Underwhelming food
V good food and service!
I love it when I turned a place from want to go to favourite. Doesnt happen enough. Trullo certainly didnt disappoint. Tasty, relaxed, special, friendly, etc. Can only recommend. Food
Pleasant last minute surprise. With a small 5 min wait we were able to be seated. The service from the start of the hostess welcoming to our waitress was pleasant. Waitress was well versed with the menu and made great suggestions. Both our pastas were phenomenal. The fresh sour dough bread omg! Cuttlefish pasta was dairy free! Dietary restrictions: Im allergic to dairy and they were able to accommodate without any issues.
This is a proper grown up restaurant. Attentive service and lovely atmosphere. Food was not only tasty but unlike other modern pasta restaurants the portions were generous. I would highly recommend
Lovely food, ambiance and service for a good price, would definitely recommend!
Such an unexpected treat after wandering the grounds of Highbury and taking in several miles of the area. We were worried because we didn t have a reservation, but they managed to squeeze us in and as each dish arrived, tastebuds celebrated the freshness and carefully layered flavors. Though everything was outstanding, most memorable were the butter leaf salad with mint, broad beans and salted ricotta, the fennel and Jerusalem artichoke dish, and the cuttlefish ragu pasta, the flavors still linger on the palate. The sweet finishes of the lemon tart and roasted loquats with praline and crème sauce were the perfect culmination of the meal. Can t say enough-the restaurant was cozy, romantic, and the staff were perfectly attentive, competent and lovely. Highly recommend making the trip to this little spot.
The service was brilliant, but maybe my expectations of the food were set too high as had heard great things.
Absolutely delicious! The fresh pasta with a pork and veal ragu was my favorite! We were visiting England and it is my favorite meal that we have had.
Good food but feel like you re on a conveyor belt, constantly under pressure to make sure you leave on time. Otherwise great.
Great food, friendly and attentive staff, and good value for money. I really appreciated that they told us the prices when they were telling us the specials of the day. Food
Excellent Italian food served by fantastic staff. Great wine. Fair prices.
Five star experience. Wonderful food. Service was on point. Will definitely visit again
Yummm! One of the best pastas I ve ever had in London, we ordered it twice and the beef tartar is just next level. Highly recommended if you were around and looking for a great Italian
Fantastic spot for a lovely dinner! The highlight was definitely the service - all waiters were very friendly!
An incredibly classy and friendly Italian restaurant, with so much flavour in each bite. The pannacotta is like no other!
Excellent service and food. Will definitely be returning!
We have been fortunate enough to be looked after by the fantastic team at Trullo all season. Today we said thank you with a small gift. Londons Number one Resturant.
A lovely dining experience at Trullo. The menu was varied and with plenty of wine by the glass to accompany. We enjoyed the quail with nduja and the chicory, beetroot & walnut salad to start, and then delicious pasta mains of chicken livers with sage and marsala, and crab with chilli and lemon. A nicely proportioned cheese plate rounded off the meal.
Nice restaurant with cosy feel, delicious pasta and good wine list. Mains are less exciting, stick with the pasta.
Everything about this place is *chefs kiss* Love that there is a daily menu, planning to be back soon Food
I went with my parents last Tuesday there. After a light starter (sourdough, which was really good and olives), we shared two pastas, both of them were exquisite, specially the Pici which it was fantastic. Finished the meal sharing a T-bone with polenta (which we have never tried). The T-bone was perfectly cooked and the polenta very tasty with the gorgonzola fonduta. Also, staff is very attentive and make you feel special all along the dinner. Just a small negative thing, the places its a bit dark which creates an intimate atmosphere, but if your table is not under a lamp can be a bit too dark. Other than that, great experience. Would highly recommend it to anyone
The resto should be incredibly proud of the dishes they re putting out. Top to bottom phenomenal work between the top class pastas and the meats were fantastic and inventive. There s a reason they ve been open so many years.
Excellent food, great service and nice ambience. We had the carpaccio and lamb confit to start and the beef shin ragu and taglieri with crab for our mains. We finished with a panna cota and the nespole, which were amazing. The prices are also very reasonable with just the right portion sizes.
really great food and managed to fit us in as a walk in when they were fully booked, service on the lamb was a little slow but we were enjoying the atmosphere and wine so wasn t a big issue
This restaurant was a gem! the food was super tasty and delicate. More on the pricey side but it worths it! We will be back.
The lamb was wonderful
Honestly, exactly how restaurants should be. Small menu of things done really well. Plenty of staff who were very friendly & polite. Restaurant buzzing. Obviously the pasta is amazing but I d happily snack on the sourdough and salami every day (with a lemon tart on the side).
Food was amazing but we waited too long for a table, and then too long to be served.
Ok and good but not stellar. Despite the name the menu looks like British cuisine (apart from pasta which is good) Go if youre in the area Food : 4/5
The food itself was really great, nothing to complain about. But the service was mid at best. The server barely talked to us, the food was taking ages to be served and the server forgot about our appetizer. I ordered ravioli and I got 5 of yhem... The restaurant was extremely loud, we couldnt even hear each other. And I wont even mention the DOG inside the place that serves food...
Amazig fresh food with uniq
To start: we had a good meal. However given the prices you would expect to have more than good , rather an exceptional service and amazing food. This was not our experience. It was very informal which is not necessarily wrong but paper table cloth? The waiting times were long and the lamb tasted too wild. All in all ok, heavy on the wallet!
Amazing food, amazing staff!! Chefs cooked up a storm!! Can t recommend enough!!
Spent night for dinner with colleagues. Amazing restaurant, lovely staff and delicious food. Brought me home. Love trullo!
Very busy and noisy on a Saturday evening , we had prebooked a table for a medium sized party but still had to wait in the entrance over 15 mins for our table to be ready, the staff were helpful but overstretched. Meal was very good when it arrived although one dish was late in coming.
It was that good, I thought about it the next day
8.7/10. Candlelit restaurant. Nice ambience. Perfect service and value for money. The pork fettuccine were excellent, as well as the Caccio Pepe. I would also recommend the beef ragú pappardelle. The crab fettuccine, on the other hand, were decent but not comparable. For dessert, the panna cotta was delicious. Hands down, best I ve ever had.
Perfectly cooked food and lovely relaxed atmosphere. Only niggle was that pasta dishes arrived half way through our antipasti. I know it s Sunday night but it would be nice not to feel rushed. Food
Wow, after all this time.... Tonight, for me, @Trullo sealed its reputation as one of the best restaurants, international, there is. It was faultless, divine, exquisite and DELICIOUS. Grateful.
This is a really decent Italian restaurant. We came for our anniversary and it was a nice touch when they gave us a printed menu with happy anniversary on it. All in all the service was attentive and friendly until some awkwardness towards the end of the meal. The small plates were tasty but not the best flavour combinations Ive had. However the ragu was excellent and my partner had Eel Ravioli and it was well cooked. It was all very good but probably not outstanding for the pricing. This may be that its a victim of its own success and is somewhere thats been hyped up to us so we were expecting more. Ive recently eaten at Flour and Grape and manteca which have a similar offering and while Trullo is a head and shoulders above manteca in terms of flavour, Id say its menu and quality isnt to far removed from Flour & Grape despite being a bit pricier. Unfortunately, the experience was ruined for us due to our 1 hr 30mins being up at our table. This information was shared at the time of booking but we ate fairly quickly and only managed 2 courses during that time. We didnt drink any alcohol due to being sober so as you can imagine it wasnt as if we were dilly dallying eating our meals. The staff were apologetic that we had to leave but all in all the experience was awkward and ruined our special meal as we felt rushed and couldnt order dessert. In all fairness, they offered to move us to the bar for dessert but we felt uncomfortable and just wanted to leave by then, because I could see a senior staff member get annoyed at our waiter for not moving us along in the background. Id like to emphasise that the staff are lovely but 1hr 30mins somehow ended up being not enough time to order and eat 2 courses and it shouldnt have been a responsibility that we had to shoulder. Is this restaurants priority to get as many bums on seats in a short space of time or is it to create beautiful dishes and authentic experiences that create memories for its diners?
Lovely evening here. Nice relaxed vibe. Maybe a little bit pricey overall.
One of my favourite local restaurants, have never been disappointed with the food and service here. Returned to celebrate our anniversary as I love the intimate vibe, the staff made us feel very special and super attentive throughout the dinner. Fontanelle and lamp rump were fantastic. Highly recommended!
Lost count of the times we ve been here. Sometimes it s amazing, some times it s just very very good. We predictably have the ragu pappardelle, fish is always perfect, and the Amalfi lemon tart is a must - concentrated lemon flavours out of this world. The only bum note ever was an arancino that didn t really taste of the promised smoked eel. Service is lovely, atmosphere great.
Amazing food, great atmosphere and lovely service.
Perfect
Still turning out great food after more than a decade. Conversion downstairs surprisingly stylish.
Cozy vibes, superb pasta & tiramisu, and a great dessert wine selection
Nice food in a cosy setting
A wonderful restaurant, there was a steady flow of delicious dishes arriving at tables. This place serves excellent food and the team are dedicated, the service was superb. It was sophisticated and cosy at the same time making it a special meal and feeling relaxed. We will be returning!
Best Italian in the area
Loved this place! Unfussy Italian restaurant with great food
Food was great across the board! Service was attentive but it took a minute to get the bill. Would definitely come again <3
Delicious pasta and everything else. We had the anchovies with crostini and beetroot salad to start, then the cacio de pepe and cavolo nero pasta. All delicious and atmosphere relaxed. Try to get a seat in the basement if you can.
unbelievable
This place transcends the traditional Italian pizza/pasta fare. A very original and well executed menu.
Wow! Trullo is just Trully amazing! Had one of the best diners Ive ever had in London. Had beef carpacio, sliced raw scallops, chicken liver papadelle, pici cacio e pepe, pork chop with polenta, cod with smoked eel and spinach, pana cota with prunes and lemon tart! All of them were just out of this world! Trullo and Manteca are the best in town!
Beautiful food, and I mean just stunning, delicious, mouthwatering food. Polite, helpful, attentive, and far from obtrusive service. A nice, cozy, yet efficient atmosphere and setting. Took my partner for a three-course birthday lunch, and we both left stuffed, happy, slightly tipsy on the amazing cocktails and wine, and absolutely singing the praises of the front of house staff, and everyone in the kitchen. Well definitely be going back, and Ive been telling everyone I know about this little north London gem.
I would definitely recommend this place. We went there as a group of 3 on the 31st December just before the nye and it was so good. The place was very cosy, the waiters were friendly and the service was excellent. The food was amazing, we took caccio e pepe and pasta with crab. The tiramisu is excellent, same for the homemade lemonade. I ll probably go again there during my next visit in London !
Had such a lovely evening tonight, from the moment we walked in the door we were looked after with care. The ambience was refined, the food was mouthwatering - particularly the seabass. Special shout out to Caoimhe who ensured that we had the perfect experience, shes a huge asset to the team. Definitely recommend grabbing an earlier table for a more relaxed and personal experience.
Good but not incredible food. After 45 minutes ours starters finally came . They were fine , small portions as expected but still a bit mean. As four people sharing dishes it s odd to serve three crostini with a dish! I asked however for one more crostini and they gave us another full portion which made up for it. Monkfish Carpaccio was the tiniest portion and barely half a mouthful each. At 16.50 this felt like a rip off. We ordered two different pasta dishes which were all very over salted almost to the point of being inedible which was a shame. We didn t complain as we were on a celebration evening and didn t want to affect the atmosphere. Delays in the service meant we were late in finishing our meal and got rushed to order desserts etc before having to vacate our table. They did however strike off the cost of the desserts in acknowledgment even though we had not complained . Possibly they were having an off night. Overpriced but that s not unusual in London !
Recently visited Trullos wine bar next to the main restaurant. Super cosy, great selection of wines and the bar tender was very attentive and friendly, too. Will definitely return.
This is a cosy but elegant restaurant, the pasta dishes were divine - highly recommend the beef ragu. We tried some foccacia to start which I would also really recommend, and shared a main of lamb chops. They have a nice wine list, the only issue we had was the pasta boiler breaking, so we ended up waiting a fair while for the pasta. The staff were really apologetic and assured us that theyd already taken the pasta off our bill which was nice.
I had a 6pm booking and we were a little bit late but the team were so understanding and when our table was needed again we were told we could keep drinking our wine in the bar the food was incredible and so delicious. The beef shin ragu was 10/10 so was the panna cotta and prunes were incredible! Vegetarian options: There were a couple but not many
What terrific restaurant, everything is delicious and unique! Congrats to the Chef and all staff Food
