4-5 London Rd, London SE1 6JZ, United Kingdom
Paladar is a critically acclaimed Latin American restaurant in the heart of London SE1. Our creative dishes are 100% gluten-free and offer an insight into the flavours of the region. All our wines and spirits are from South & Central America. They are available to buy in the adjacent bodega (bottle shop) to take home at 50% of the restaurant price. In addition to our indoor tables, our covered courtyard garden offers the opportunity to dine al fresco during the summer and under the warm glow of infra-red heaters in the winter. The Chef's Table is perfect for a party of ten and our atmospheric Amazon Lounge for parties of up to 22. We are LGBTQ-owned and (well-behaved) dog friendly! Our stated closing times are last seating times.
The food speaks by itself, honestly a unique taste, not every restaurant has such quality! I even called the chef to congratulate since I felt in my country! Secondly, the place it's a full art exhibition. Honestly the paintings from "RosasMarin" transport you to a different time, zone and atmosphere. I was told he's inspired by women work and the hardships they have in life, So what a theme! The details next to the paintings make it very accessible for any art collector. For both the food and the paintings I will come back thousands times to this restaurant!
Amazing restaurant!!! The food was delicious, and the staff were so lovely and friendly. If you’re after something unique with a fantastic mix of flavors, I highly recommend this place! 🤗
100% gluten free, great food, nice atmosphere. Quite expensive but worth every penny. The Habanero cocktail was delicious! The outdoor seating looks very nice too, will try book to sit outside next time.
A magical experience. The flavours in every dish we ordered were impeccably balanced and creatively melded. The texture and taste of the food was excellent without fail. Truly the work of a culinary artist. It is refreshing to go to a restaurant where equal attention is paid to flavour, presentation and ambience where the experience is centered on the quality of the food. Portion sizes were substantial - not too small despite the beautiful presentation. I would recommend the set menu for maximum value for money.
We had dinner with a big group of people and had a large selection of dishes to share. Food kept coming out of the kitchen at a steady pace and the service was very good. The dishes are streetfood style, very tasty, medium sized portions so you can eat a variety of things. The aubergine dish and a tuna starter were our clear favourites. Plenty of choice for our vegetarians.
I recently visited this amazing gluten-free restaurant for their lunch set menu and found it to be quite the acquired taste—perfect for those seeking something unique. The atmosphere was serene, as the place was almost empty around lunchtime, which made for a peaceful dining experience. However, once we were seated, Ecuadorian music suddenly filled the air—perhaps a welcome for their first customers of the day. While I appreciated the cleanliness and the friendly staff, my partner did have a strange encounter with one of the waiters, who seemed to be staring at him from over my shoulder throughout the meal, which made things a bit uncomfortable. The cocktails were also priced at £16+, which felt a little steep for lunch. All in all, it’s a nice spot if you’re after something different, but I likely won’t be returning.
Really great place with tasty food, amazing service, and a lovely atmosphere. It's a good balance of authentic Latin food, made in a dynamic and thoughtful way. Jose who served us was very attentive and considerate. He made the experience even more special. Thank you.
Amazing experience. The service was awesome, and the food was some of the best we have ever had. Our favorite was the Cochinita pibil and the grilled chimichurri prawns. Our favorite dessert was the pumpkin flan. We may pass on the califlower and the churros next time. My drink was fabulous. Overall, had a great time, the staff were chatty and even kept the kitchen open for us to have dessert. The inside is modern, trendy, and clean. Highly, highly recommend if you’re in town or live in London.
Very nice vibe and food. Bit pricey for the amount of food though, tho taste was very very nice.
I wouldnt recommend this place. Its overpriced and overrated. The meats are not of the quality expected and the arepas were so dry, we had to choke them down. The rest of the meal, though pretty to look at, was entirely forgettable. Frankly, its not Latin American food, even fusion, as I believe they claim. Wont be going back. Edited to add : Our review was met with a racist comment saying people like us are unlikely to know what Latin American food even is.
Had an outstanding meal at Paladar, cant fault a single thing we ate or drank. The highlight for me was the pork belly arepas.
Excellent food, drink and service!!
A group of us had a Christmas meal at Paladar recently and it was one of my favourite dining experiences of recent times. Everything about it was great - the atmosphere, the decor, the warm and friendly staff, and most of all the food. We had the Christmas sharing menu which allowed us to enjoy a broad range of dishes, all so intricately and beautifully put together, and all delicious. And 100% gluten-free which suited me and one of my friends who is coeliac. With the wine it came to £125 but definitely worth it. Cant wait to go back! Dietary restrictions: 100% gluten-free
Excellent.
We had a fabulous meal here as a couple in November. The food and drinks were great but what really made the night was the service. We sat in the courtyard which was a beautiful setting. The cocktails were delicious and our server, Alberto, was excellent. He showed us pictures of all of the dishes and told us which ones were his favourite. Then they surprised me with a birthday song and dessert. Alberto was so helpful and attentive. The restaurant has a lot of art work on display too and they change the artist frequently, so they let us walk around and view the art. It was a great evening and we d definitely go back.
Super restaurant
This restaurant is amazing, it feels like walking into south America. The food is excellent and reasonably priced and the service and presentation was great. Is a fine spot for a date.
Paladar is exceptional! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was 10/10. Highly recommend the chicken thighs and lamb skewers!! I would travel here again and again
Great Customers Service , Awesome Food.
This nearby restaurant is the best in the heart of london with creative dishes to satisfy your taste.
Gr8 service.
Best ever
Good food and service
Paladar Hotel is a unique and comfy place if you need to get away from all the busy and tired working days. I recommend this for all
Beautiful setting wonderful staff and very delicious food
Wonderful restaurant. Great service and food!
Really excellent south American restaurant with a superb set meal. Various flavors not usually found in a routine restaurant.
The festive menu was delicious, could work on the desserts, except the churros, the pumpkin flan and the dolce ice cream nothing else was great on the plate.. but the starters the mains were fabulous and I loved the decor of the extended garden. Warm and cozy. Overall fantastic.
Wonderful South American food and wine and very friendly helpful staff. A noisy bistro like atmosphere, so lively rather than sedate. On a busy road. We have eaten there a few times.
Very good food! Loved it, took me back to Mexico
Incredible food & service!
Very rude staff, tried to blame me for their mistake and resolved the issue by chucking the menus on the table and telling me to Enjoy my dinner . Food very mediocre thankfully company of my friends ok. Extremely overpriced and previous visitors commented on this huge increase from before. Food
Flavours that will stay with you for a while.. The tuna starter is a pure orgasm in the mouth. Been there a couple of times and never left dissatisfied. Great atmosphere with lovely people. All gluten free Dietary restrictions: All gluten free
Food was delicious but slightly small shareable portions for what we paid for , staff was lovely with big smiles and very attentive. Lovely atmosphere with classic salsa and Latin music being played throughout. Overall would highly recommend !
A hidden gem in London Paladar is a real treasure! The chicken was a marvel, so flavorful and tender that every bite was a pleasure. The atmosphere is cozy and the staff are adorable, attentive without being intrusive. An incredible discovery that I recommend with my eyes closed!
As ever food was excellent - absolutely must try guacamole and plantain... Also very good cocktail mixing for our lunch! Food : 5/5
Amazing food and amazing vibes staff were so friendly and the food was delicious
Just awesome. Well-crafted flavors, perfect welcome, delicious cuisine and cocktails.
Being coeliac its been a very long time that I had such a delicouis dinner. Great food, great ingredients, nice atmosphere, good, good, good... no other words. Also for anyone without any allergy this is a place worth to go for dinner.
Good food.
Staff incredible and food amazing! What an absolute hidden gem in the Waterloo / Southwark area. If you are in the area, its an absolute must in Latin American cuisine is your thing. You will not be disappointed.
Came for lunch with my daughter who s coeliac as the menu looked interesting. The restaurant is a tardis of relatively intimate spaces including a bar, basement and delightful outdoor courtyard filled with sub tropical plants. We were served by Alberto who is passionate and knowledgeable about the food and very friendly. High notes were the tuna starter, cauliflower main, churros, soursop cocktail and complimentary tasting of Tequilas and Mescals. With a coeliac in the family we ll definately go back for this unusual and delicious food. Dietary restrictions: The entire restaurant and menu is gluten free so excellent for Coeliacs and those with gluten intolerances
Paladar is the perfect spot if you want to while away an evening with friends. An impeccable (and gluten free) menu ams great drinks list. The lunch menu is also banging, tho last time I went we were accidentally away from the office for a couple of hours, as the pace is VERY laid back. Dietary restrictions: All gluten free and they have an allergens list available
I recently visited Paladar for the first time, and they ve definitely won me over as a lifelong customer! We were celebrating my friend s birthday, and they went above and beyond to make it special they surprised us with free celebratory drinks and even brought out a festive sombrero for some fun photos! As someone with celiac disease, I m always cautious, but their gluten-free menu was not just safe everything was absolutely delicious! The warm atmosphere and our server s incredible attention to detail made the whole night unforgettable. Highly recommended for any celebration or just a great night out! Dietary restrictions: Incredible gluten free menu
I have never been so well-treated in London before. The staff is warm, welcoming, and super attentive. Alberto looked after our table, always friendly, full of positive energy and good recommendations. It was my birthday and they were incredibly generous, treating us to some very good tequila and sparkling wine. It was such a lovely gesture from them. The food was delicious, top quality and fresh ingredients. We managed to get a table in their lovely interior garden, which made it more special! Will definitely go again. Dietary restrictions: Amazing spot for celiacs or anyone sensitive to gluten.
Really nice. The perfect combination of fancy and relaxed. Food, drinks and service all brilliant
The food was incredible. We tried a bit of everything and absolutely everything was delicious. My favourite were the tuna tostados which really surprised me as I do not particularly like tuna sashimi. Every bit was an explosion of flavour. We also had the desert platter to share. Delightful. Absolutely will be returning!
Paladar was a huge disappointment. We paid over £100 each for two cocktails and a set menu, which turned out to be shared plates for four people. The portions were laughable when they brought the shrimp, it was just two pieces chopped in half, meaning one tiny, frozen shrimp per person. The aubergine dish was a single thin slice of aubergine to be shared among four. For the price, this was completely outrageous. The food was basic, the portions were insulting, and the overall experience felt like a rip-off. Definitely not worth it.
Amazing culinary experience and very friendly staff - a perfect combination. Not sure it s a Latin American cuisine, feels more like fusion to me, but it doesn t matter, the food is just great. Definitely recommended.
excellent service, tasty food, awesome pisco sours
It is not suitable for vegans. They told me that the empanadas are vegan and were meat. There is only 1 vegan option on the menu other than side and it is VERY spicy (the cauliflower). Besides, its not delicious, it was poorly cooked! The rice, salad and so on were ALL spicy, how Latin American surprised me! I could only eat the fries and spent 45 pounds I dont recommend it
Dietary restrictions: Gluten free place Food
One of the best meals I ve ever had, served by some of the nicest staff ever!!! Pisco sours, plantain chips, croquettes, ceviche, chicken, dessert platter
One of my favourite places in London. Fantastic for coeliacs, but dont need to be gluten free to find the food delicious. Pro tip - sit in the courtyard. Highly recommend the trip.
Can t get enough of this place. The food is incredible, especially for my wife who is coeliac (the entire restaurant is gluten free). Great place for a date. The cocktails are amazing (recommend the pisco sour) and the food is delicious and so well presented. This is a hidden gem on the London restaurant scene.
I wish I could give them 6 stars! We had an absolutely delicious meal with lovely service. Everything was just wonderful.
Paladar is absolutely incredible!! I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Each dish was stunning, full of flavour and beautifully presented. If you visit you must try the squid! 10/10!!
We have been here a few times and its always great highly recommend!
Truly excellent gluten free south American food, wonderfully helpful and friendly staff, fun birthday celebration! (I got to wear the sombrero!) By far the best Latin food Ive had in the UK. Dietary restrictions: Entire menu is gluten free
The decoration environment is very nice A small restaurant where many locals come Food is delicious and cheap The service is very good and enthusiastic It should be Spanish and Latin American food! Had the classic octopus feet and ate a hard green banana for the first time Fried banana slices are just as delicious as fried sweet potato slices Pork and pork belly pancakes I returned home in a second, and the overall meal was spicy, I liked it very much! Satisfy your craving!
A hidden gem and very authentic Latin American food. Amazing service. Highly recommended!
The prices are a bit high for the quantity and quality of the food. It is very tasty but not exceptional.
Paladar is a fantastic Restaurant. I recommend the Tostadas, Squid and Eggplant dishes. The staff are friendly and obviously enjoy working here. Food : 5/5
I went with family for a celebration meal and it was the perfect setting. They have a beautiful courtyard, with plants and flowers everywhere. The food was great. We shared all the plates and enjoyed every one. Highly recommended.
I loved this place.. really cute Latin American place
Some of the best food you ll find in London. Amazing flavours, great atmosphere and friendly staff! I went with a coeliac friend and it was just so nice for her to be able to look at the whole menu, not just some special gluten-free section. Highly recommend the empanadas and tapioca / cheese dice, and we also had the aubergine and the cochinita pibil - absolutely delicious! Dietary restrictions: Whole restaurant is gluten-free
All menu is gluten free
The food was sooo good, and everything was gluten-free! The garden was also really nice to sit in. Definitely coming back!!
Amazing
Lovely restaurant. As we were a large group (13) we had the set menu. Everything was delicious. As a coeliac pescatarian the staff made sure that I knew which dishes I was fine to eat . It s always daunting trying somewhere new as a coeliac but Paladar made it so easy and reassured me at all times
Quirky decor, stylish food, relaxed atmosphere. Modern Latin American dishes inspired by food from various countries, extensive wine list and attentive but unobtrusive service. All food is gluten-free. Well worth a visit. Dietary restrictions: All food and some beers are gluten-free.
excellent food and tastefully decorated space. the service is very cordial, especially the young lady who serves the guests. we enjoyed the ambiance and delicious food.
This Restaurant is absolutely beautiful, the staff is very friendly, the food amazing, I love it.
Gorgeous in every way - food, service and atmosphere. Highly recommend
Possible to eat anything on the menu
Alberto and Nadia made my birthday meal so special last night! The food was incredible and the atmosphere and service was impeccable. Alberto kindly gave us a tour of the restaurant and showed us the wonderful art work on display. Thank you!
An absolute beautiful place to eat, the ambiance is immaculate. The food is spectacular and the service is warm and welcoming. Dietary restrictions: Its completely gluten free friendly!
Overpriced (15%service charges), portion is small and taste average
Paladar is my go-to restaurant in London where I know I wont ever be disappointed by the food, drinks or service. I love bringing people here so I can share how amazing it is with others. Top quality food.
Incredible Latin American food and amazing courtyard space. We had the sea bass ceviche & pork tacos, highly recommend!
I could not commend this place more highly! It is my new favourite place in the city. I was in London for work and did a Google search for gluten free food near me. This place came up and Im so glad it did. The atmosphere is fabulous, the food is delicious, its reasonably priced and the staff are so friendly and attentive. Although I hadnt booked, they offered me a seat in the reception until they could accommodate me. Everyone made me feel incredibly welcome as a solo diner, and they even showed me their beautiful secret garden. I will definitely be back!
Amazing food, amazing atmosphere. My first time here and can only highly recommend it!
Ordered through Deliveroo on 7 August expecting a gourmet treat for my gueara . I still cannot believe the food is from the same restaurant almost all praise Everything crispy like plantains, pork belky was, hardened and could not be chewed. The guacamole was so incredibly salty I decided it was beyond saving, after trying to rescue it with lime Im willing to think this was some weird accident, but i wont risk it again
The restaurant was a fantastic find. Our daughter suffers from celiac disease and in this restaurant she was able to eat anything without worrying. The cuisine is impeccable in terms of taste and presentation. The flavors are incredible. The Latin flavor in an elegant fusion is fantastic. The staff is very friendly. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free
This was the most delicious food Ive had in the UK for two weeks. All the food was great, and the servers were nice. As for the taste, if you can give me a 6 on Google Maps, Id be happy to give it to you.
Pricey but worth it for s special meal. Wine and food is amazing.
Best Gluten Free restaurant in London! Dietary restrictions: Perfect for people with celiac as the entire menu is Gluten Free Food : 5/5 |
Really enjoyed the flavours and it was a great idea to share.
Great dinner with a friend on the lovely terrace out the back. Food was excellent, and fairly priced. They were out of the ceviche which was a shame, but all the other food we has was delicious. Tuna tostadas - some of the best ever! Good wine list too!
We were transported to South America! The food was incredible and the service so friendly. We will be back! Special thank you to Adam
First time coming here and I loved it! The atmosphere was really nice with traditional salsa music playing in the background. Food was beautifully presented and really tasty. The customer service was really friendly and welcoming.
I am genuinely surprised by the high rating this restaurant has on Google, as our experience was far from deserving of such praise. From the moment we arrived, things started on the wrong foot. Despite having a reservation, the host was quite rude and dismissive, which set a negative tone for the rest of the evening. The service throughout our visit was subpar. We noticed that every table around us received a complimentary item, yet we were completely overlooked. When it came to our order, the wait time was excessive. We ordered two bottles of wine, but only received one. To make matters worse, the second bottle, which never arrived, was still included in our final bill. Speaking of the bill, I strongly advise everyone to carefully check theirs before paying. We noticed discrepancies between the prices listed on the menu and those on our final bill for several items. This kind of mistake is unacceptable and leaves a very poor impression. Overall, our experience was disappointing, and I cannot understand how this restaurant has such a high rating. We won t be returning, and I suggest others approach with caution.
Amazing food, beautiful garden and everyones so friendly. There is no way anyone can tell that the food is gluten free! Dietary restrictions: All good is gluten free
Phenomenal Gluten Free food! Wait staff couldn t have been friendlier! Food was phenomenal!
Great experience! I love the mix of different Latin American styles in one place, higly recommended to know more about Latin cuisine and I think even Latin Americans can have a surprise. Very good service!
Incredible!!!! Coeliacs, you MUST go here! Definitely would recommend the tuna tacos, lamb skewers, octopus and churros all were mouth watering and delicious. Felt extremely safe because the whole menu is gluten free. The aesthetic of the place is also extremely beautiful. Very satisfied. Dietary restrictions: Great for coeliacs / gluten intolerant
Excellent food! We ordered Chef s special tasters menu pairing with Argentinian Wine and it was sublime. Stunning ceviche, scrumptious octopus, succulent lamb, and an absolute showstopper of a cheesecake dessert. Every dish was distinct, flavourful, and utterly delicious. With exotic south American flavours, it was a nice break from western and asian cuisine. It was the perfect place for our final dinner in London (for now). We definitely would come back and will be recommending it to our local London friends.
So good. Pibil!
Food was delicious and service was excellent. Definitely worth going back to.
Just brilliant. Lunch included the lamb kebabs and the aubergine mains. Highly recommended
Excellent food, service and ambience. Highly recommend! Food
It was nice, wasn t blown away but was a nice visit. Great staff and service. Food was prompt. Enjoyed myself thoroughly.
Delicious. As in everything is delicious. I even asked if they made anything that did not taste good. Well, we did not find the answer. We were simply looking for a restaurant that would provide a few good true gluten free options for someone in our party that lives with Coeliac disease. She was in heaven when she discovered everything was gluten free, everything. If you find yourself turning up your nose to anything gf, you will be missing out to all the fabulous flavors Paladar has to offer. The service and atmosphere were wonderful. I would happily recommend Paladar to anyone. Dietary restrictions: Everything is gluten free, everything!
First rate. Everything we ordered, we would order again. Food and drinks.
10/10 all round here. We went for lunch with our 1 year old son(sorry about the mess he caused!) The staff were so friendly, food was great and service was fantastic! If in the area worth a visit. Highly recommend Kid-friendliness: highchair, staff went above and beyond to cater for our son
We had the most wonderful lunch at Paladar. From the moment we walked in I knew it would be great - the staff are so friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant has a great atmosphere and is nicely decorated. We sat in the covered garden which felt very special - you feel like youre on holiday! The food was 10/10 from start to finish - especially the tuna tostadas!!! I cant wait to go back. Highly recommend this place!
Paladar was a treat for dinner as one in our party of 4 has celiacs disease. The menu is 100% gluten free and 110% tasty. We tried a bunch of different dishes on the menu and ate family style. The octopus and ceviche were our favourites. Their drinks were well crafted and we were never without water. We did the desert plate and the purple corn churros were the bomb! I can t say enough about how great the service here was. We will definitely be back Dietary restrictions: The menu is 100% gluten free!
As a Mexican, I didnt have high expectations about food in England. Many people told me before I arrived that London food was really bad... and they werent wrong... until I meet this place. O M G, that was INSANE. The pollo in achiote was so freaking delicious. My husband, who is vegan, found delicious vegan options for him as well. Everything was too good that I couldnt stop eating. I felt that I was going to explode but just wanted to force myself to keep trying. We had the guacamole banana chips, the achiote chicken, the mole, potatoes, a side of rice, the cheese cake, and also the churros. The service was also exceptional. They all were very kind and friendly. One more thing that really surprised me was how the restaurant looks inside. Its very beautiful, especially downstairs so green and pretty. Im so so SO happy we stopped by
Great spot for punchy flavours and a great atmosphere. The Cochinita Pibil was great as was the tostada. The place has great vibes and the garden looked like a bright summer spot. The service was a bit patchy as we ended up waiting too long between courses though all the servers were extremely friendly. The place was definitely one for birthday / special occasions as the prices are a bit steep but a great experience overall.
INCREDIBLE! This restaurant is a must try if youre in London. Everything is gluten free, and absolutely fantastic. The conchinita dish was seriously to die for. Our server Alberto was friendly and attentive. If I could rate this place 6 stars I absolutely would. Wonderful job everyone Dietary restrictions: 100% Gluten Free
Good
Better than ever
Thanks Nadia and Lorena for a great evening & good food :)
One of those rare hidden gems -- the food, drink and atmosphere are all at that extra level ...
Signature cuisine, very well prepared and delicious. Very friendly staff. Well decorated place. However, some details need to be improved: good atmosphere, but the music is a bit loud; somewhat small portions; and they charge 15% taxes on the final bill, not reflected in the restaurants menu.
Great gem in Elephant and Castle. Staff were extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful with recommendations. The food was HEAVENLY. Everything was so delicious and beautifully presented. The decor is great - colourful, lots of plants everywhere, modern and clean, super cute for a romantic date or birthday celebration. We had intended to get the set menu but that didnt seem available so we did end up spending quite a lot more money than we had expected. Dietary restrictions: Great option for Gluten-free eaters as everything on their menu is GF!
Amazing food and service! Must try if you are in the area Dietary restrictions: Gluten free Food : 5/5 |
Great place to eat latin american food. Art exhibitions on display constantly and good variety of cocktails.
If you get the chance, ask for a table in their courtyard area tucked at the side and back of the restaurant. It is beautiful and calm there. Waitress happy to explain the menu which is a mixture of small and large plates. We had some veggie friends who joined us and there is certainly enough choice all round. The flavours of the food and sauces was absolutely stunning. My new find and just a 10 minute walk from Waterloo station.
This amazing place just keep getting better. The cooking has always been wonderful, with great flavours of authentic modern Latin American cooking, phenomenal cocktails, a great wine list and absolutely charming service.
Decent place: portions are generous, space is nice and its good value for money. Drinks could be better (the glass of red we tried had been opened for a while) but Id come back for the set menu. Chimichurri chips were a great idea!
Good one
Highly recommended - everything was delicious (tuna tostadas were my favourite) including the drinks (try the mezcarita). Service couldnt have been more friendly. Good option in walking distance of Waterloo, but with a local feel. Only downside was that the weather wasnt warm enough for the garden but we were happily accommodated inside, and its a good reason to go again and try it on another occasion!
Great dedicated gluten free restaurant. Lots of options and the food tasted great!
This restaurant is amazing! We passed by by chance and ended up finding this very authentic food. Guacamole is crazy, and the cocktails transport you right to the beach. And the desserts are amazing, incredible. But what really won us over was the atmosphere and the attention of the service, we were celebrating my partners birthday and they treated us like royalty, we almost felt at home! In short, what a discovery! The food is delicious, the atmosphere is great and the people are super nice. Oh, and a warning: the mains are huge, so dont go overboard with the starters! hehhe Vegetarian options: There was also vegetarian food but since I wasnt one I didnt pay much attention. They had a separate vegetarian menu, which I suppose makes it more convenient and direct for vegetarians to decide what to eat.
Very good restaurant. The dishes are elaborate and delicious
The rating speaks for itself. Got to this restaurant at 5:30 with no reservation but they were able to fit us in (and had a sleeping baby with us that they didn t look down on which is always nice) Cannot speak higher of the service and the food- flavour combinations were explosions in your mouth.
Such a vibrant venue from the decor to the music to the friendly staff. Enjoyed a birthday dinner here with my friends (one is vegan and one is coeliac) and because of the gluten free & VG options we were all able to share plates and eat together which was so nice. Highlights were the Green plantain crisps, taquero guacamole & Potato & salsa criolla, yellow-corn empanadas, roast aubergine, beans & Green herb steamed rice. The plates were beautifully presented and each mouthful was an explosion of flavour :)
We did go in around 5PM so the atmosphere was laid back and the service was fine. What I could not understand was the lack of flavour in everything we ate. The lamb was tough, the plantain tasted stale like it was prepared a few days back and the dusted corn dried out my mouth and I needed lots of water to make it go in. Maybe it was the time we went but we just did not enjoy this experience.
Cant rate this highly enough, everything was gluten free, fabulous food, fabulous wine and fabulous staff, had an amazing evening, never felt rushed or ignored, just felt special and enjoyed every minute.
The service was a little hit and miss. When we came in we felt really hurried because the waiter said we needed to order as the kitchen closed at 2.45pm. Our booking was for 2.30pm and there was another booking for 2.45pm so Im not sure why they are taking bookings for these times if they close their kitchen then. There was no atmosphere at all and there were people constantly trapsing in and out talking to the waiter. The food was okay, but not amazing. The squid main course was very overpriced for it what it was. We felt it was all quite overpriced, and the 15% service charge felt too steep. I wouldnt recommend.
I normally dont give a 1 star rating and this would have been a 5 stars. But the last few minutes completely ruined the experience. This was my second visit to Paladar, so this was me giving them a second chance. The place is nice and the food is extraordinary and the waitressing team also very good and attentive. So, why the 1 star rating? Simple: the hostess! On my first visit I already was a bit un ease with her attitude as she comes across a bit short and maybe a little rude. Thats the reason I wanted to give it another chance because, everybody can have a bad day. The first time I was on passing with a friend so we were relatively quick, but the second time I was out on a day out, making this visit a special one. We had delicious food and wanted to order some coffee. But no one was coming to our table after desert to our surprise (and the waitress) we were given the bill before finishing our meal. The poor waitress was really apologetic as she too knew that this was not the way to go. I tend to tip on top of the service but on this occasion I decided not to, I was about to ask to remove the 15% service charge completely. But decided against as the rest of the team is a no fault of the poor customer service skills of the hostess. On my way out I did spoke with her and said that next time if she needed the table at a certain time she should have let us know before we ordered or if we were taking too long she could have also said something before the bill. Also I found the fact that she sent the waitress to deliver the message really poor management and leadership skills. You are supposed to protect your team, not be there so you safe face as manager. Her excuse that they have a maxim time of 120 minutes per table does not really holds any water as we arrived at 17:17 and left at 18:20. And the table next to ours was already there before we arrived and after we left. So it was really not because of time. The whole situation was really uncomfortable for us and it even had a whiff of some sort of discrimination that she didnt want us there. Terrible situation. And unfortunately what was going to become a must. Is now a definite I will not be coming back. The food is delicious but please avoid this place as the service by the hostess has the potential to leave you with a sour taste and ruin what could otherwise have been a fantastic day out.
Amazing food, hugely recommend, but its sadly just not good value. 11 GBP for four small churro shards for dessert seemed a little ridiculous. But it was very good food and ingredients - just small portions and too expensive. The filling for the empanadas couldve used something more interesting. Dietary restrictions: Amazing for Gluten Free
One of the best meals Ive ever had. The dishes are fairly expensive, but the presentation and taste easily make up for it. We genuinely did not have a single complaint, or any feedback on what they couldve done better. The atmosphere was great as we were seated in their backyard garden and the service was top notch.
Cheerful, cheerful atmosphere with the desire to start dancing. For a Spanish person like me, the atmosphere was a 10 and the service was very helpful. The meal was very good... perhaps I would say abundant, I would have appreciated better recommendations regarding quantity. But all 10
a total change of scenery, a most pleasant taste journey. elegant dishes, a very warm welcome, a friendly atmosphere and harmonious decoration. I recommend, and I will come back
100% gluten-free restaurant. Also recommended for other types of allergies since they are very pending. The atmosphere is pleasant and the food is very delicious. The ceviche is highly recommended. Very friendly waiters.
One of my favourite restaurants in London. Delicious South American food served in a tapas style - if you can go with a group therefore you can try more (/all) dishes, but great regardless of group size. Big flavours and a great atmosphere. Great wine and cocktails too!
Had some fantastic cocktails (mezcalini was delicious) and some wonderful food. More tortillas with the dish would have been nice but everything was really tasty and unique. Food
Amazing staff, absolutely delicious creative food! We were in the garden room which was just amazing, would go again and would recommend! Had some amazing dairy free dishes
My second time visiting this restaurant and I do not live anywhere near this place. Delicious food and amazing service, the staff are very passionate about the dishes, that s also how you can tell the food will be good. I highly recommend their crispy plantain with guac, pork belly arepas and tuna tostadas. Maybe it s because these were the first dishes to come out and blew me away with their flavours! Oh! Don t forget their cocktails too, one of the best margaritas I ve had in London! I m already looking forward to coming back a 3rd time!
Nice food which was all gluten free which was great. I thought It was over priced however and needed sides at £21 to make it a decent size. The 15% service charge also is excessive in my opinion. Dietary restrictions: Everything is gluten free.
We made reservations in advance; I truly had a lovely dinner. The food was yummy, and the service was perfect. We ordered several servings of the empanadas because our youngest loved them. There were no kids menu, so you have to order a few side dishes to feed them. The fresh lemonade is not that great, so I recommend ordering something else. I ordered the shrimp or prawn dish it was delicious and small in serving.
Absolutely lovely restaurant. We had an aubergine each and trio of sides and it was just the perfect amount of food. It is a pricy menu but the food and the service is brilliant.
I loved it! Im gluten intolerant and with the dishes offered it was difficult for me to choose. The waiter was most polite and pleasant, directed me to dishes and it was a great discovery. The dishes are very fine and I must say that as someone with a rather fine palate, I am picky. Just a downside where there was a small group next to me that was quite noisy but it was still acceptable. I think in the evening it is much quieter.
Quiet lunchtime for a group of 7. Some interesting dishes on the menu. Music a bit loud, Drinks a bit expensive. Probably more atmosphere in the evening.
Delicious!! Would absolutely recommend and come again next visit: 10/10
A colleague with coeliacs recommended Paladar for a team night out as everything on the menu is gluten free. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great. I could particularly recommend the cocktails. I will definitely come again next time Im in London and would not hesitate to recommend Dietary restrictions: Perfect for anyone with gluten intolerance. Everything on the menu is gluten free
Nice food, wine, and very friendly staff. We will be back.
Exquisite
Delicious Latin American food! And perfect for coeliac since the whole menu is gluten free. I recommend it 100%.
Still can t believe that I never been there before! Delicious food, great atmosphere and very friendly people. I highly recommend this place! Ps: the main dishes are quite big, so do not exaggerate on the starts!
I visited this restaurant for the first time along with 9 other guests and had the sharing lunch menu. The food was lovely and the wine just as good . My only criticism is the portions , slightly less than expected for 10 beefy guys . Food : 5/5
The best not-fully-discovered yet restaurant in London. It s bustling and well liked, but it should be infamous and impossible to get seats. The great thing is it s not. Fantastic food, fantastic service at reasonable prices. My wife and I have been going for birthdays, Valentine s, Mother s Days, anniversaries for 6 years. Never ever declines in quality. I hope this restaurant is here til I die. It s the only restaurant we ever recommend. And it s the only one we need to.
I have visited the restaurant on a couple of occasions and had amazing food. Last night the food was disappointing.
Very tasty south American food, and surprisingly filling for its size. Im sure you will want to try all the sauces
Good food, but felt overpriced as the portions were on the smaller side and it wasnt anything exceptional. The cocktails were a big let down as were also very small and certainly not worth £18! The bathrooms were dirty and really let the place down.
What a fabulous place. Great food - lovely staff - and just a super night out. And with coeliacs in the group - just no problem as everything is GF. Brilliant.
A great restaurant, with a garden, which offers succulent dishes! The cocktails are great!!
Good Nice Food
Delicious food, tapas-style. Unusual tastes but good!
The host and staff were all very helpful and nice. The atmosphere was cozy and familiar. Their cocktails and gin selection is amazing, the taste as well! Definitely made with high quality ingredients and passion. Food was amazing, especially the eggplant, chimichurri fries, cassave fries with truffle and the tuna starter Would have loved to try the ceviche and beef, but appreciate the recommendation since they were not available. Slightly pricey, but worth it :)
Food quality is excellent, the service is very good and the atmosphere is beautiful, this restaurant never disappoints
Really good food and service. I was with friends who had dietary requirements and we were well attended!
We were a booking of 7 people and got lucky as they moved us to the Chef s table in a semi private room. Delicious food and cocktails, charming and knowledgeable wait staff and a buzzing vibe. Will be back!
Probably the surprise of the evening, the food was delicious, lots of vegetarian options, which really packed loads of flavour. I wasnt expecting it all to taste that good for some reason. It is a small venue but well worth a visit just for the dishes alone. Friendly staff and good quick service as well.
been here several times and dates with my partner, everything safely gluten free. thanks for making everything special and perfect.
Great food. Lots of dishes that were new to me. Really friendly and efficient service. Ill be back
Super tasty food, great service and atmosphere. Would definitely come back!
Excellent food and service. Everything we tried was delicious - the tuna tostadas and corn churros were particularly good. Bear in mind the plates are quite small so you will have to order a few per person.
Went here to celebrate a gluten-free birthday and it was great to know the birthday person could eat everything! All the starters were great as well as the dessert but the eggplant main was a little disappointing as it lacked a crunchy texture. But all in all, a great meal and would be back!
SUMMARY: Delicious tapas-style Latin American food with a cozy romantic atmosphere. Make sure to book ahead, and I d recommend getting multiple small plates and one main in order to leave full for not too high a price tag. Delicious Latin-American tapas. The dishes felt like excellently done versions of classic Latin-American dishes. Every dish we got was packed with different flavours and was presented and finished beautifully. The atmosphere was perfect for a date or a nice dinner with a small group. The aubergine and tuna dishes blew us away and I d definitely get the plantain chips and empanadas too!
Food was good, service was excellent, vibes were chill.
Exquisite food without pretension, and warm, wonderful service. Ive dined here twice now, and it was excellent both times. The vibe feels like youre being taken care of by family. Cant recommend highly enough. Dietary restrictions: Completely gluten-free. A fantastic menu.
Great food served by very friendly staff
Good for parties.
Dietary restrictions: So so good for coeliac folks! Food
Although the food was incredibly tasty the portions were a joke. We felt ripped off tbh. Upon informing the waitress of this we were informed (albeit very politely) thats just how it is, it will be the same if you come again. Hmm, yeah.
Love, love love this place. Welcoming atmosphere and delicious food, all of which are gluten-free. I am already looking forward to my next visit.
Guys, here is one of the best experience we had so far, and not talking only about food, because we enjoyed every single minutes we spent there. The staff was wonderful, the atmosphere fantastic, the art so great to see, the music cool ! I cannot emphasise enough how much I recommend this place Such a vibrant Latin American restaurant in the heart of East London. The food is creative and totally gluten-free plus the cocktails (and mocktails) are inspired by the ingredients and flavours of Central and South America. We tasted the weekday set menu Tapioca and cheese croquettes, guava and balsamic reduction (V) Crispy pork belly, arepa, guacamole, agave sriracha chilli sauce reduction Shredded chicken, criollo-corn empanadas, serrano chilli salsa Seared prawns, Colombian Pacific coast salsa, plantain toston, suero costeño Roast aubergine, fried beans with salsa negra, Maya hummus (V) Green herb rice Cassava chips & chipotle mayo Purple corn churros, coffee dulce de leche & chilli chocolate sauce Dietary restrictions: 100% gluten free
Dietary restrictions: Everything is gluten free Food
I hosted my birthday at Paladar s new private room and was very well looked after. The private dining room has amazing decoration and is very intimate for a group of friends. We were very well looked after by the team who helped us with everything including the set up and the take down. Not to mention the food which all my guests said was amazing. The booking process was really easy and Charles the owner was lovely, responsive and accommodating - you could tell he wanted us to have an amazing time. Thank you Paladar!
