It was a wet windy Saturday outside but inside was an oasis of calm and deliciousness. This place serves up some absolutely amazing food for a set price and the service is on point, they have the level of attentiveness set perfectly. As for the food that's next level and a world class wine list to match. Don't hesitate book a table NOW.

Had the chef's menu, and the highlights of the meal definitely were the crab tartlets, the truffle pasta, the chargrilled turbot and the amazing pain perdu. The service was attentive and friendly, and we were recommended an amazing wine to have with the delicious food. Definitely one on the list for any special occasion!

Fantastic dining in Fitzrovia! A small restaurant with great low-lit atmosphere and exposed brick, creating a cosy, authentic and romantic vibe. The wine menu is extensive and the Stephen Vincent Chardonnay was one of my favourite wines that I’ve ever had! We had the chef’s tasting menu which was a selection of dishes, including a pasta, a fish dish and a meat dish - finished with the restaurant’s signature Pain Perdue. Every single dish was phenomenal with a great range of flavours and both French and Asian influences mixed in, which I loved. The truffle pasta was a standout for me - a dish done in many restaurants yet I feel like I’ve never had it this good before! I’d visit again immediately and would choose this place for a special occasion. I just have to deduct a star for service unfortunately - on arrival, despite having a booking, we were told that there was only bar seating available. No problem, we said - but could we please be moved when a table became available (we asked this twice). The hostess promised us we would be, but 3 dishes in we had still not been moved despite there being visibly empty tables. We then chased this and asked to be moved to one of the empty tables, and we were then moved. Ultimately this is a small detail, but I feel the hostess should have been more attentive to moving us - when enjoying a £100pp tasting menu at a Michelin starred restaurant, it is understandable that the guests ideally don’t want to have this at the bar and attention should be paid to facilitate this as soon as possible!

We went for the three-course lunch menu on a busy Saturday. Staff were super friendly and attentive. Our dishes were beautifully presented and very well cooked. They catered to our needs as I am pregnant. Overall pleased with the experience and would recommend to visit. Favourite dish were for the both of us the Beef with honey carrots.

I unfortunately can’t recommend this restaurant. We went for the midday 3-course menu. There was nothing special about it. For starters we had the fish carpaccio and spaghetti, fish was nice, spaghetti had nothing special that you could not get anywhere else. For mains we had the gnocchi and pork shoulder. Half the pork serving was fat, and the meat was tough, had a nice flavour, but nothing making it special. Gnocchi was the best meal, they were toasted o. The outside and soft on the inside, very nice sauce. Dessert we had the French toast, very nice caramelisation and soft core. The disappointment comes from being a Michelin restaurant, the dishes did not seem elevated or innovative. Service was very kind and attentive.

Birthday meal. Elegant and very tasty. Michelin star restaurant but not super expensive. I love everything about the place: fantastic food and drinks, attentive service, atmosphere and clean bathroom. Excellent choice for a nice occasion. I would recommend it for a casual meal too if you can afford it. I would like to come back.

This place truly surprised me in the best way possible! I ordered a toast that, honestly, was divine. Easily one of the best I’ve ever had in my life. The meat was incredibly tender, and every single ingredient tasted so fresh, you could tell with every bite. The waitresses were super attentive, always ready to guide you through the menu with a smile. Without a doubt, I'll be coming back!

I had an exceptional dining experience at Ninth! The Sea Bass was cooked to perfection and paired with special potatoes that were absolutely delicious. The highlight of the meal was the incredible Pain Perdu, which I highly recommend. The service was outstanding; the staff were knowledgeable and accommodating, especially with my dietary restrictions due to pregnancy. They took great care to explain the menu and suggest suitable options. I didn’t have any alcohol, but the attention to detail and customer care was impeccable. I highly recommend Ninth for an unforgettable dining experience!

Safe and by the book 3 Course Set lunch menu. Whilst there are no thrills, the food was all prepared and cooked well! FOOD All the food was cooked well. The starters were very nice. The Seabream Carpaccio had a lovely grill chilli on it which went nice with the kumquat. the Lamb ragu was also very nice. The mains were fine, we had the Beef and the Breaded Sea Bass. These were cooked well but no part of this was inspiring or different etc. Desserts are a must have, adn the Pain Perdu with Tonka Bean ice cream is a must! SERVICE Exceptional. Very knowledgable staff who where also very friendly. ATMOSPHERE Nice setting and also a good buzz, even on a Monday lunch time! PRICE £38 for a 3 course set lunch menu? How can you say no.

Standard upscale food and atmosphere, but service was lacking and didnt have a Michelin worthy experience. 3.5 stars Food: 3.5 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4 Cost to worth it rating: 3 Opentableable: yes Return worthiness: maybe Highlights: - Cabbage: charred with miso was the sleeper hit of the evening. Simple yet the miso sauce was extra delightful. 5 stars - Pain perdu: caramelized exterior with custardy exterior. Nice vanilla ice cream paired with it. Standout of the night. 5 stars - Sea bream carpaccio: fresh thin slices with a bumpy inside an orange wedge like texture to them. Enjoyed the small rounds of kumquat and green spicy pepper surrounded by a citrus flavor. 4 stars - Braised beef: tender chunk of meat that was tasty. Small amount of celeriac puree which was light and glazed carrots were crunchy with some sweetness but didnt need the mojo sauce. 3.5 stars - Lamb shoulder pasta: el dente larger pieces of pasta with the meat that was a bit salty with the chorizo added in. 3.25 stars - Early menu: 3 courses for 47-52 pounds including a glass of champagne. - Bartender: single guy hustling to take care of all drink orders--making cocktails and pouring wine. Midlights: - Cauliflower: romesco was fine but not as interesting as the other dishes. 3 stars Lowlights: - Service: hard to get the attention of the server. Time we saw her was to give us the bill. When we asked for dessert she said she needed the table back. Then it took 45 minutes for the dessert to arrive. When we asked to check up on it, she bruskly told us it takes a minute. Was good to try but with so many stellar restaurants on Charlotte street and this having a star, was expecting better.

Overall disappointing especially due to service not up to Michelin star restaurant standards. We got a tasting menu. The dishes were good but nothing out of the ordinary like you would expect for the tasting menu. For one of the dishes the side came only when we finished the main. We came to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and the birthday cake came to the table next to us not us. The lady that received it was clearly surprised and said that her birthday was a while ago but the staff still did not realize they brought it to the wrong table so we never got it.

Weekday evening meal on 16th October 2024. Fair food, ambience, and service, but lighting too dim to read the menu. Resorted to using the torch on my mobile phone. Nothing deserving of a Michelin star - surprised they have one! No wow factor at all for any aspect. Presentation of food was mediocre. Food prices are inflated, I suppose because of the one Michelin star rating. Waiters wear jeans, and two were wearing trainers. Not even smart casual. Customers were all more smartly dressed than waiters. Well below expectations overall, and wouldnt want to go back. Many no star restaurants perform better than this one. My rating is based on expectations for a star rated restaurant, hence the disappointingly low grade. Oh dear!

The welcome was lukewarm, with no real interest in how I was doing. I wasn t offered a drink before being asked about food, and there were no recommendations offered. This was a shame as a side with the main was really needed, and I would have ordered, had it been suggested. The crab tartlets were tasty, though I was surprised they were served hot, which made the tartlet case a bit soggy. The seabream carpaccio, however, was simply delicious. Used cutlery left on the table until the main came - not ideal, and had to ask for replacement. The pork shoulder was flavorful but tough to cut in places - a steak knife would have been useful. Some gristly bits were too much and had to be left. The grilled chanterelle mushrooms and pickled cobnuts were well-balanced, but there was no follow-up to check how the food was. I might have asked for a side if they had. The portion of meat was a bit too large. Less meat and another vegetable on the plate would have made it feel like a more well rounded dish. I was given a recommendation for dessert (after asking). This pud was pleasant and I enjoyed it. Offered coffee, however no alternative milks are available (I drink oat), so no thanks. While paying, no ask on how my meal was. I agree with other reviews to some extent, that while I m not bothered so much about the dress code, the overall service here does seem to fall below par for a one star. Regardless if you re here for the set lunch menu (which I was) or à la carte in the evening. Would I be back, highly doubtful. Would I recommend, not particularly.

The dishes we had were delicious. Up there with Michelin grade food. The pork dish in particular was as good as I ve tasted that meat cooked. The problem here was the service. It was disinterested and unprofessional in so many small ways. The one big way was that we sat for twenty minutes before having our order taken. That should never happen. None of the staff are rude but everything they do falls short of top standard and often falls short of basic service levels. Their dress code of jeans and trainers is absolutely fine if you deliver elite service levels. If you provide poor service the dress code grates as it appears a reflection of shoddy, disinterested, unprofessional attitudes. A few small examples that all add up over the course of a meal: - waitress takes order but is looking away into the distance at other tables. Clearly paying no real attention. - waiter picks up dirty and discarded serviette and folds it up, then replaces it on the table in front of me with dirty stains showing. Is it that wild an idea to replace it with a fresh serviette? - waitress picking up my empty plates from the table whilst my partner is still eating her main course. - When bill is delivered and card placed down, the waitress looked at the table twice and then proceeded to pick up plates and cutlery to lay some other tables. This is at the end of the night so there were no customers expected. It was just to prepare the tables for the following day. She even came back, glanced at the bill again and then picked up glasses to finish preparing the other tables. These might seem small things but seriously this is Michelin starred food at a top price whilst the service is half arsed and they appear untrained. It really ruins the experience and does a disservice to the chefs.

I didnt have a very good evening at ninth. The dish (rissotto) was good, even if it was only a small quantity, but the service was not up to scratch at all! The table was not ready when we arrived despite having made a reservation. The drinks took an eternity to appear (one of the sides never even turned up lol). Not to mention the gluten-free bread, which was bland and slightly burnt. I cant get my head around their 1* michelin lol

The whole experience was in general super super good. I really enjoyed the starter and main dishes, but I must admit the dessert was not really up to scratch. Perhaps the dessert snob that I am has the bar too high, but I simply did not think it was as good as the rest. Nonetheless, I highly recommend going as my friends dessert was quite good and all our dishes and staff were great!

Came for lunch and received a very friendly, attentive and charming service by all staff members. Ordered cocktails as an aperitif. Was disappointed by how minuscule the clarified margarita was for £15. When your pre-lunch cocktail arrives as a thimble, it s rather off putting. The food was fine. Perfectly tasty, very salty. Nothing refined. Nothing you won t get elsewhere for less money. There were two deserts on the set menu and, although we were the second table to arrive for lunch, the Almfi lemon cake had already sold out . I wanted to like this restaurant and I recognise that you don t get the full Michelin star experience for lunch, however, I ve been to many similar places over the years and it s just not worth bothering with. They even brought us a little gift of some of the delicious sauce that came with the potato dish. When you read through the menu ahead of time it sounds like a very classic menu, but its not. Followed by the Michelin guide, I am keen to experience food at the Ninth. The service from the staff is brilliant. I really appreciate it till the end of my dining time. The food caught my interest before I arrived at the restaurant. I was looking for the salted beef. It was amazing. The meat is so tender and full of flavour, really recommend it for those who wondering to try it. Coming to the main part, the main dish. I ordered two plates, one was the role deer and the second one was a vegetable dish, the roast king oyster mushroom. Both of them were magnificent. Trying deer is a whole new experience. No fishy smell at all. The meat is soft with a rich flavour from the sauce. While the mushroom is ok. It had the same components as the deer, being a good option for vegetarians. Lastly, the Pain Perdu was amazing. The toast is so soft including an ice cream to fill in your mouth. A great combination to end the day. But the poached pear is too sweet. But the yoghurt ice cream can help to reduce that sweetness. Looking forward to coming back and exploring new dishes

Fabulous welcome from the lady from Liguria. Immediately showed a sense of fun while being professional. Then we received the same enthusiasm from our waitress, also from Italy. Couldnt have been more impressed with both of them. Would actually come back because of them. The food was also great and the wine list was pretty on the mark too.

Food was lovely. Ordered the set menu for 4 people and we were shown great service by Tamsin. She was very attentive - we were allowed to order half duck breast, half pork and she even brought us an extra dessert as she overheard that my partner was celebrating her promotion (which was not mentioned on the booking). Thanks Tamsin!

Good food but the dessert and bread were the highlight of the meal for me. The winter truffle pasta was not strong. The truffle shavings had very little flavor which was disappointing which made the pasta taste like boxed macaroni and cheese but less flavor. The starter snacks and salad on the fixed menu were amazing. The meal started strong but was just not stacking up on the mains. The sole was good but the miso broccoli was more impressive. Duck dish was good. Pain perdu was fantastic. Service was great but feels more casual and relaxed in this sense.

Whenever I am in London, I always meet up with a certain friend who leaves it to me to choose a restuarant. This time, I chose The Ninth (1 star Michelin rated). We went last night, and I was greeted with staff who had a friendly demeanour. I was allowed to choose a table and when I was joined by my friend, we delved into the menu to see what dishes there were. They do have a set menu for approx £95 excluding service and drinks and they can substitue meat dishes for vegetarian and fish. What I liked about the menu was that there were good fish and vegetarian options. The menu is also a sharing menu. We ordered the crab & seaweed tartlets and these were really good. We had ordered the sardines but our server had not noted it down so when we enquired about them towards the end of the meal, they were brought to us but I dont think I fully appreciated them because by that time we were stuffed. We ordered the cured mackrel which was good and such a pretty dish to look at. We ordered the prawn and spagetti which I my opinion was salty and rather than serving with 3 prawns in their shells, the dish should have been served with smaller and more prawns. I was not really a fan of this dish. I think I should have ordered the truffle pasta. We ordered the whole seabass with potatoes and broccoli as a side. All 3 items were good. For dessert we ordered the pain du perdu (custardy French toast) served with ice cream. We shared this dessert but secretly I thought I could have ate one serving by myself. The dessert was really good together with the crab tartlets. Our bill came to £172 with service (no alcohol). The restaurant does also a lunch set menu.

Nice wine selection too.

In short, good food. Nothing was disappointing. Food was tasty, fresh, well seasoned. The best dishes were the carpaccio beef, the potatoes and the chocolate cremo. Having said all that, no dish was *exceptionally* amazing. For a Michelin restaurant we expected slightly more than that.

The first time I ate here I had a wonderful meal from the a la carte selection and I was excited to return. The second time I came, in January 2024, I ordered from the tasting menu. Sadly, this did not work out so well for me, partly because I have celiac disease so I cant consume gluten. I appreciate that I am the one that is broken, not the restaurant, and that the restaurant has no requirement to cater for my dysfunction. However, it proved too difficult to make satisfactory adaptions to the tasting menu, with dishes being made gluten-free by omission. I am sure this is an excellent restaurant for those without dietary restrictions. Dietary restrictions: The tasting menu was difficult for gluten-free, better to order a la carte.

Top quality food and service. My only issue was a spelling mistake on the menu about where the tea was from. It read tea from Satenwa, Malawi when its from Satemwa, Malawi. I know it sounds ridiculous but the only reason I care is because I did some work and lived at Satemwa estate for a bit where the tea is grown. Iberico pork and the pain perdu was truly top tier.

I was looking forward to great Michelin star hosting and food given the reviews and reputation, but unfortunately was left disappointed for my fiancés birthday. Lack of ingredient availability meant we couldnt order a drink we wanted which got things off to a bad start. The dishes came out very late and were not tasty for the price - expected more from a recently awarded Michelin star restaurant. The beef sourdough was definitely a standout though - very tasty meat and flavours. The pasta portion was incredibly small and salty and we were left feeling quite hungry generally. The lamb was fairly fatty and was also a small portion, and came out very late. The staff acknowledged and apologised for the lateness. We were deflated by the slow service, small portion size, lack of taste and lack of attention to us as guests, so we did not plan to stay for dessert and asked for the bill. As a goodwill gesture the staff did offer one dessert to share on the house which we appreciated, as well as some sorbet as a gift to my fiancé, however by that point our evening was already tainted and I was left regretting my decision to choose The Ninth for my fiancés birthday dinner since we didnt receive a Michelin star dining experience. Maybe I caught the restaurant on a bad day which happens to us all when we are at our jobs - just unfortunate that we were customers at that point in time.

The service was just right, we received just the right amount of attention from our waitress so as to keep the interruptions to a minimum. My wife and I went here in a Friday evening and both had the tasting menu without the wine (we ordered that separately). The Ninth was a solid 4/5. The food was good, the service was good, the atmosphere and general ambience was good. I think what stopped it being higher than a 4/5 in all categories was my comparison with other tasting menus I ve had in similar restaurants. Including drinks, our combined bill was £272 and for that, you want it to feel a little bit more special. When putting the cutlery down, it s nice when it s done softly and done from each person s respective side every time. When serving each dish, an explanation for each dish for 30 seconds is really appreciated. Almost selling you the dish (even though you ve already bought it). These were small things but I think these are what separate some of the nicer restaurants. Google won t allow a 4.5/5 rating but that s what I would give the food. Location is nice too. Charlotte Street has a lovely buzz which isn t too much like you d find in Soho but also doesn t feel quiet. For our experience, I d say something closer to £200 was an appropriate price to pay. Nonetheless, cool interior and nice staff!

We ordered the set lunch menu + sourdough & butter. Sourdough was quite nice, but the butter was not the most flavorful that i ve had. It lacked the layers of buttery taste. Strozzapreti with romanesco & pork & veal ragu was seasoned strongly; it was quite salty and not much in layers of flavors. Clementine & beetroot salad & coconut yogurt & fig oil was alright nothing too special about it. Chargrilled mackerel, buttermilk, horseradish , cucumber & apple was quite good. The comparison of chargrilled taste of mackerel and freshness from the cucumber and apple is harmonious in a sense. The buttermilk underneath was balanced well, too. Delica pumpkin risotto, radicchio and ginger was alright. Nothing too special to talk about. Perhaps one wouldn t like it bcuz the ginger taste is quite strong.

Vegans - Dont bother eating here. The service was great, and our omni friends loved most of their dishes. The vegan food was not great. Several of the vegan dishes were the normal menu minus the sauce or dressings that probably would have made them great. But without replacements they were boring, and not very balanced or tasty. Also none of the dishes were designed to have enough protein for a balanced meal, so vegans, you are better of going elsewhere. Dietary restrictions: This is not a vegan friendly place
