Clos Maggiore in London

Clos Maggiore is an institution in London for Christmas and for this, we visited it for a set-lunch-menu. The atmosphere is the most festive and romantic one you can think of, and the restaurant is set directly at Covent Garden, so you cannot miss it. The food was amazing. Two minor let downs worth mentioning. A bit of a chaos with all the people waiting for their tables as everyone wants to be there, and the woman who was responsible to refill our wine glasses wasn´t as present as she should have been, let alone we prediced she mixed a bottle once or twice. I am happy to say I´ll return there in spring, so this was fun!

The food was okay but not many options. The service was amazing, we had an Albanian waiter I think his name was Edmond. He was very helpful and spoke my options and helped with suggestions. Lovely place, would come back again because of the service.

Booked weeks in advance for a very special birthday. Terrible table, shoved in next to the clearing area. Photos show our view all night. Appalling. Asked to be moved 3 times. Request ignored. Made worse by the arrival (at a free table next to us) of a family of 4, with 2 children under 5 (was unaware children were allowed in the restaurant at the 9pm sitting). On leaving, discovered that the hostess with the leasest had thrown our scarves, hat and gloves on the floor of the cloakroom cupboard. Ridiculous. Amazing food though as always. But a terrible experience and thoroughly appalled. Shocking.

the place is beautiful and everyone talks about it as a must visit during Christmas time. but we were disappointed - only the first floor was decorated, we were seated on the second floor without warning, which did not match the advertisement of the place. the staff is not friendly, it was unpleasant. when we ordered only a starter and wine, the waiter showed his bewilderment, which was generally disgusting. cozy atmosphere, but because of the waiters, who looked like they were waiting for the end of their shift, the impression was not very good. the tartare was good.

Absolutely amazing experience. The staff were great, friendly and smiley. Very welcoming. There was a wait for us to get seated but the hostess did a great job of making us feel seen and she also apologised and was super nice. The waiters did great. Food was Michelin star level; and they didn t rush us at all even though we got seated a little later than expected. The decorations for Christmas were beautiful and they gave us an extra treat for anniversary. I am blown away - usually in London the service is not very good at these restaurants, but clos maggiore was something special. Would highly recommend.

Had my second visit to Clos, last time during summer, seated upstairs, a few years ago and this time for the weekend lunch menu during a weekend. We were seated downstairs next to the bar, which was really disappointing as had such lovely seat the last time. Considering the location, it was fairly peaceful but nothing like our seat before. The atmosphere is beautiful, summer or Christmas, and the service is amazing. They are able to cater for dietary requirements(veg + gluten free) without making you feel awkward about it, and are happy to check with the kitchen any additional requests as well. However, the food overall has been a bit of a let down. My partner s side dish never arrived, and my meals were average - even for the lunch offer they felt a bit overpriced. I remember having this feeling the last time as well, so this restaurant is not a recommendation for the food, rather for the atmosphere and wine pairings and attentive service. It is definitely an experience, so wouldn t recommend missing if you re into restaurants as an experience.

Had a fantastic pre-theatre meal last night, the food and service were excellent, set in a beautiful setting. The staff were fantastic, very friendly and nothing too much to trouble. I am unsure what restaurant the negative reviews were from but our experience here was extremely positive. Yes, its slightly expensive but this is London, in the middle of Covent Gardens and the food is a la carte, you get what you pay for, its not a Toby Carvery so people need to think their expectations. I would definately recommend here for anyone looking for somewhere special to eat.

this remarkable place. The atmosphere is just cosy and definitely gives off romantic vibes. Its incredibly sublime. The staff? Oh, they are ever so attentive and make you feel so special! And the wine list, ugh, simply amazing. A little heads-up - some rooms might feel small, but they certainly ooze an intimate and wonderful vibe. I seriously relished the wine and the dinner there. The food? Scrumptuously delicious! I highly recommend this place for couples, or anyone really who enjoys having a lovely dinner in a fabulous French ambiance. Trust me, youre going to love it.

Pros: - beautiful setting, the ceiling is so lovely, and the atmosphere really delightful. - the staff are amazing - the wine is fabulous Cons: - some of the food wasn t up to the standard I d expect for this place. We did the tasting menu, where one of the courses was incredible, 2 of the courses were quite nice, but 2 others weren t so rich in flavour/ were quite disappointing. - it s also a bit hectic when you first walks in as the front of house is so narrow and people are rushing up and down to get people to their tables. Would definitely go back if they have change their menu to see if it was a one off!

Exceptional! First Xmas dinner of the year here. Was a very nice setting, staff were friendly and food was very enjoyable. Sitting above the cobblestone streets of Covent Garden in the heart of it all was also quite special. Despite my reservation two weeks before Beware of the beautiful Instagrammable photos and videos of a large room beautifully decorated for Christmas ... we found ourselves upstairs in a very small room, it was the evening of my birthday .. really disappointed and the food that arrived cold for the pasta and truffle mash. Placed next to a window that is not insulated, we were cold all evening.

The food was very good but the service wasn t. We waited forever for everything. After the waiter brought us the bread, we asked for salt and pepper and it took a long time until we got it. We finished our waters and had to ask for more, our waiter wasn t checking on us much. We ordered an appetizer, which was forgotten. The waiter didn t acknowledge that he forgot it, he said he would bring it out with the main dinner course so it could be eaten together, but he didn t ask if this was ok. Then, our main course arrived but the appetizer still didn t come for another 10 min or so. We made reservations to celebrate a birthday and this wasn t acknowledged until we already paid the bill and got up to leave when the waiter said to please sit back down because they had a complementary birthday dish for us. It was just awkward. On top of this, a snail fell from the garlands onto our table almost landing in the bread basket. The food was really good and the atmosphere was nice but the service was not good at all for a supposedly good restaurant . For the price, I won t be able to recommend this place.

A truly delightful place, the atmosphere inside is fantastic, very intimate, a few tables with great attention to detail. Excellent food, a choice of wines that you rarely see, 123 pages! Really everything at the top. Obviously dont expect to pay little, on the contrary...

I ve been to Clos Maggiore before and it was phenomenal. My husband took me for my birthday- we arrived a bit earlier to ask if there was any availability. He hadn t asked for the conservatory in the booking (which was fine by me), but when he asked about other seats, the host said you should have been organised and mentioned it in your booking . This isn t something he was aware of having never been there, so to make that comment left a sour taste. She then proceeded to question me three times about whether it was actually my birthday which again didn t make sense to me when it had already been stated twice. The food generally was great- unfortunately, the chocolate soufflé was not cooked. It had not been baked for long enough and was simply raw batter which was not an ideal end to the meal. Appreciated the little cake they gave on the side for my birthday, but expected a lot more from them.

Experience was bittersweet, we were seated over 30 mins after our reservation time, and only offered a drink after we complained about the wait. Thankfully after we were seated we found the food and our server excellent, however towards the end of the evening (before midnight) we felt like we were being rushed out, being asked if we wanted the bill and if we wanted our coats. I suspect the rushed service was due to us going near Christmas, so I d probably avoid it at this time, but go again another period as the food and service (apart from at the start and end) were very good.

Very pretty romantic restaurant to celebrate special occasions.

Really disappointed with this restaurant. The food was average at best and overpriced, dishes kept coming out really late and cold and to top it off the staff were extremely rude. I think it being overhyped on social media has made the restaurant laxed on their customer service.

Have been meaning to come here for years. I finally made it, but won t be back. The decor is very Instagram-able, if that s what you re after. Impressive wine list, although marked up 300%. Couldn t find the bottle of wine I ordered in the cellar and I had a hard time selecting something to eat that was inspiring. Top it off with a soundtrack of cheesy elevator jazz music and you have yourself a mediocre, expensive evening in central London.

Well decorated premises next to Covent Garden. French food, good preparation and correct flavors. A wine list with 2,500 references is a bit overwhelming. The appetizers were the best of the dinner. A crab cake, some homemade macaroni with truffle and a very different, original and excellent-tasting steak tartare. The main course is a venison loin and a beef tenderloin. Good point of both meats. Accompanied by a deer sauce and a wine sauce respectively. For dessert we had some excellent roasted pears. From the beginning we had the feeling that it was late. If you are in the area and are tired of English food it is a good option.

Unprofessional

Very poor and pretentious service. Waiters made a mistake pouring a glass of Pinot Grigio for another table but served our table. We said no but they repeated to return to our table to ask if we ordered it. We sent it back 3 times and still ended up with the glass on our bill while getting rushed out of the restaurant. Do not recommend such a pretentious spot unless you want extra charges because they cannot imagine making a simple mistake. Customers shouldn t be billed for anything sent back multiple times that s a bare minimum for service, especially at a fine dining restaurant. We deserve better.

I booked a table for two as I was celebrating a 2 year anniversary with my girlfriend. I was disappointed to hear that apparently my booking did not exist in their system, despite receiving two email confirmations and a text message. A french man at the entrance made no effort to help, despite me showing proof of my booking simply just told us to eat elsewhere. Hearing ce nest pas mon problème was the cherry on top as I am a native French speaker myself. I cannot review the food therefore and Im sure it deserves all the praise. However, I have never felt disrespect that much when simply going to a restaurant I booked.

Luke-warm leftovers of its former glory. We had a birthday lunch, which resulted in my birthday completely ruined. I had to go home straight after and spent the day on the sofa, sick. I tried to call the restaurant in the evening to warn them not to serve the same meals. No answer. I sent an email expressing my disappointment - this was two weeks ago; no answer either. Avoid.

Beautiful setting, service & atmosphere around Xmas time. Food aside, it s worth booking just to experience that. Our table got changed last minute before we were seated and it seems my girlfriends birthday dessert got sent to the wrong table. Unfortunately we didn t receive it and another couple received it instead. The only downside to a lovely evening.

Clos Maggiore is hands down our favorite restaurant in London - and we re from NYC. It never disappoints: from the warm, gracious service to the romantic setting, and always superb excellent food, it is, quite simply, the very best.

Had a lovely evening celebrating birthday. The food was really good and the dishes were well balanced. Nicely decorated interior created an amazing atmosphere. Cannot forget about the service which was impeccable. Truly recommending this place for any kind of celebration.

My amazing partner booked us a table here tonight...I was in total ore of this restaurant. Thr most romantic place we have ever been. The food was second to none and melted in our mouth. We was so impressed that we are even thinking of hiring the private dining for our wedding next year. If I could give you guy 100 out of 100 I would. Magical. Thank you for an amazing experience. Service was appalling, was sat for over thirty minutes before the waitress could spare their precious time and come with the bill. Needed to repeatedly ask for demands before they were met. Considering that its a restaurant with such high reviews I was taken by surprise by such an abysmal service.

My first visit was excellent. However having been several times since and then missed a reservation - although physically attended to say I wasnt able to stay for the lunch; and I was still charged the £80 cancellation fee. Which I felt was a little too Draconian.

Booked this for my 26th birthday. The service and ambience are lovely. However, the food, for what it is was very overpriced and somewhat underwhelming. We got the tasting menu so we could sample multiple dishes and yet we were both still quite hungry by the end, can t say I ve ever felt that with a tasting menu before. I thought the monkfish and venison were quite under seasoned and lacked the flavour and complexity fine dining dishes should have. I ve wanted to try this restaurant for years but unfortunately I don t think I will be returning.

So beautiful here. We did the tasting menu and was really delicious and reasonably priced. I m pregnant and they managed to swap dishes out to suit pregnancy. They made us feel very special and the service was outstanding. Thank you for a brilliant evening

It s funny, but candles aren t allowed on desserts here for safety reasons. The waiter said the ceiling could catch fire It also wasn t easy to switch and get a nicely decorated table with flowers. The room with the fireplace is almost impossible to get into Food

Typical gourmet french restaurant with emphasis on the ceiling decorations and fancy servers. Ofcourse the food was delicious but that steak was rarer than rare, lucky my pregnant self didnt order that! Monkfish and the pork belly was nice despite ofcourse portions being small was a nice aniversary dinner and ambience was peaceful would consider coming back when I get a payrise :)

Overrated.... We went and the atmosphere was cute but we ended up on the second floor and definitely not as great. The waiter was not friendly at all. The food was meh. Definitely recommend going somewhere else. Not worth the price.

We had a fantastic meal when we visited yesterday. We had the vegan tasting menu with wine paring which was fantastic. Every course was well presented and you could taste the time and effort that had been put into each dish to make it a culinary masterpiece. Our servers were fantastic and couldn t do enough for us, they were so knowledgeable and friendly, We loved our experience and wanted to thank the management for making it extra special. I felt fleeced visiting this fancy place, in my eloquent mouth leaving a bitter after taste. Food is average for a world class star, food below par. For baby size portion, the price is extortion. Pretty lights and decor, will not make me come back for more. The only thing to write home about was the sourdough and the potato mash with truffle, Rest I was ready to leave asap with my duffle.

French food restaurant with a wide variety of dishes. Incredible atmosphere and service and great selection of wines. I tried both the pasta and the tartare, both of which were very good. Second meat also very well cooked and just right. The wine we chose was an Italian vintage, I dont understand wine but it was good. The only negative is that the portions are somewhat small. Haute cuisine does not have to be at odds with the quantity on the plate.

I made a reservation for 6 adults and 2 children for afternoon Tea and whilst the champagne was lovely and service good the menu listed is incorrect and we did not receive any scones - all we received was a slice of cake due to upgrading so it turned out to be a very expensive slice of cake & champagne at £48 per person so be aware if you are looking to book afternoon cream tea you will need to eat prior or after

We had a wonderful dining experience at Clos Maggiore. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted, and the staff were polite and exceptionally efficient. We were seated in a gorgeous conservatory surrounded by beautiful flowers, which created such a charming and intimate atmosphere. The food was outstanding we started with the sea bream carpaccio, which was fresh and full of flavour, followed by the trout for myself and the chicken for my husband, both of which were cooked to perfection. The desserts were equally delicious, and we were delighted to receive a special anniversary dessert as well. The pre-theatre menu was excellent value, especially with the included glass of bubbles. Highly recommended!

I understand were over COVID. However I tried to cancel this booking as was unwell and thinking itd be sensible to not risk spreading in the restaurant. However they wouldnt accept the cancellation and charging me for it. Sorry but being considerate of other guests doesnt seem a consideration here.

We spent our anniversary at this fabulous restaurant. High quality food, the venison I chose was Michelin starred but our starter was also better than many starred restaurants. Very nice environment and not too formal service... excellent. In my opinion one of the best choices in Covent Garden. Remarkable wine list as well as the choice of fine spirits. The small happy anniversary cake prepared by the chef was much appreciated

Really disappointing experience. Food was great but took incredibly long time. Waited an hour and a half for mains, and almost 3 hours across the 3 courses. Shame the service lets the food down. For such a price point and quality I m disappointed

Food was amazing, service was good at the start however they messed up our main course order. The wrong dish came to our table but the waitress soon realised it was wrong and took it back to the kitchen. This made us wait an extra 15 mins for our mains. The waiting wasnt a problem but the waitress or anyone didnt apologies for this mistake they made I fact no one mentioned it at all like nothing happened. A such nice restaurant like this really shouldnt have this kind dissapointing service.

Had a delightful evening celebrating my fiancées birthday at Clos Maggiore. The ambiance was incredibly inviting, with a beautifully decorated interior that created a romantic atmosphere. The service was impeccable, with our server being attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. While the dishes were all tatsy, some truly stood out. Unfortunately, the menu lacked a bit of balance, as some of the other dishes were just ok. Despite the higher price point, we believe the experience was well worth it. The combination of exceptional food, service, and ambiance made for a memorable celebration.

Greeted by a lovely, polite and friendly moroccan lady. Felt the overall warmth right away! Amazing food. Each bite was delicious and so very worth the price . We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary this night. Lots of people but not loud and happy to have been able to get this booking. They were lovely and gave a complimentary dessert which had the anniversary writing on the plate. The salmon / cod dish with truffle mash was exquisite to say the least! The lamb/chops dish was so soft and delicate. Flavour in every single bite ! The chef is clearly wonderful! The decor is picturesque and nice music playing. Great food, great service, in a genuinely gorgeous setting. It seems made for insta, but it predates Instagram and you can tell because it s so charming. It s like a little oasis within Covent Garden. The food, while not quite haute cuisine, is very, very good, and the waiting staff were all lovely. Would recommend the tasting menu with paired wines

A very disappointing dining experience. Booked this restaurant for my birthday dinner and one of their staff was very impolite and impatient to us. When ordering the food, he didn t even let me finish my sentence and got so impatient and said Our company s policy is one main course per person . ?? I was still talking and this person just couldn t wait and interrupted me. When we finished our starter, he immediately came over and cleared up our table in a very hurried manner. He was moving around the cutlery and plates and he kept bumping and touching my hands when I was not even moving. Same thing happened to my friend, she was still having her bread on her plate (with her hand placing on the plate) and the waiter moved the plate whilst her hand was there. I asked if he could slow down a little bit because he kept touching my hands with the plates and he only replied with sure without even looking at me and did not apologise at all. We requested for another waiter to serve us later on and he was really nice nonetheless. I feel sorry for the company or the restaurant to have hired this waiter with such impolite mannerism, he really ruined the reputation of your restaurant and my birthday night of course. Edit: The owner had promised that an investigation into my poor experience would take place but I have still not heard back from them in a week. Perhaps following up with me has slipped their mind, or is not considered a priority. However, this experience will not slip my mind and I write this as a warning to others. Your money is better spent elsewhere.

From the food the decor and the tremendous service that was given to us in particular Our host Giles, who was very kind and warm, his attention to detail with the menu was second to none. I highly recommend this restaurant and would definitely return again one day.

Dining at Clos Maggiore was a truly extraordinary experience. From the moment we arrived, the service was phenomenal warm, professional, and attentive. The ambience is exceptional, balancing sophistication with comfort, making it perfect for both romantic dinners and special celebrations with friends. The appetizers were a delightful start, each dish presented beautifully and full of flavor. The wine list is extensive and well-curated, with knowledgeable staff guiding us to the perfect pairings. The main courses were spectacular, showcasing the chef s skill and high-quality ingredients. I will say for the price, the portions were pretty small. In summary, Clos Maggiore exceeded all expectations with outstanding service, a magnificent atmosphere, and incredible food and wine. It s a dining destination not to be missed, and I eagerly look forward to my next visit. Highly recommended for an exceptional dining experience.

2nd visit. Consistently high standard of service and food. Budget for circa £70.00 per head but they do have lunchtime and theatre menus. Restaurant is in a period house converted, so for obvious reasons disabled access is not ideal

Really was looking forward to the restaurant but clearly understaffed as we say 45 minutes between courses for the tasting memo and were there for more than 4 hours with the slowest service we have experienced. The food was great but there were people who got up and left similar to us as it looks even 30 mins to get a waiter to pay the bill. Was not worth it.

Our server Giles was so fun and attentive. He knows a lot about each dish and joked with us throughout the night. Every dish was wonderfully designed and cooked to perfection. The presentation was gorgeous as well. Each dish feels like a piece of art. Food

Could eat 3 nicer meals at the local for less. Food was fine but far from memorable. Instead, what was memorable was the 45minute wait between each course and the £100 per head bill. Nice cocktails, decor and wine list, however.

An all-round phenomenal experience. We were seated in the beautiful conservatory and service was outstanding. Staff members were very attentive, patient, and knowledgeable. The food was in a league of its own and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal!

Really nice, cosy, and intimate atmosphere yet the tables were spaced apart well too. Food was great, particularly enjoyed the look of the steak tartare, it was like an earthy mound. Great vegetarian menu as well. One of the highlights was our sommelier (Jules), friendly, energetic and loved sharing his knowledge on the wines. Its always great to see someone passionate about their craft and can articulate this towards others.

The beef tartare had a light cream sauce which enhanced the sweet tender beef. The lamb chop was only one piece but it was of a generous size and well seasoned. I m not particularly impressed by restaurants using plastic flowers on the walls and ceilings but as this place used white plastic flowers they do make a nice backdrop for photos

Terrible service. Very rude girl waiter with red hair. After receiving the payment, she snorted and rudely threw the check on the table. I recommend the administration to pay attention to the behavior of the waiters.

What a wonderful experience at London most Romantic Restaurant Clos Maggiore. It is absolutely a 5 Star experience with beautiful decor, fabulous service from Jazz, Fatmir, and the sommelier Fabritzio. The food was next level , the pics attached really do call out just how good this was. Thanks for helping us celebrate our Anniversary.

We had travelled to London on a super tiny getaway visiting dear friends and this is one of the restaurants they had taken us to. We dined indoors- while it was quite enchanting, it did seem a tad bit tired in some areas. (I preferred Lyles and Kolae) The food wasnt anything to write home about, but the service was impeccable, our server was incredibly knowledgeable, and the atmosphere inviting and relaxing. All in all, a quaint dining experience.

Came here with my mom on our trip to London. The food and wine were great. We did have a problem with one our meals, and the manager handled it with some grace although he did seem a bit accusatory about the issue. However, he followed it up with a complimentary dessert and the removed the item from the bill. Overall it was a great experience, but I do think there is better options out there for a bette price point

The decor is a dream. The food could be much better concider the value and the prestige of the place. Service there is room for improvement. We would be much happier if we had been invited to finished our drink on the terrace outside, instead of be pushed to leave the place. Food : 3/5

This is my dream restaurant. It was my daughter s treat, together with theater tickets, for the whole family. The decor is beautiful, very romantic. Our party of 6 was shown to a corner table in the flower room, menus were presented and drinks offered. Everyone chose the pre-theater 3 course menu, that included a glass of bubbly. Fresh butter and baskets of bread were brought immediately and refilled as needed. The menu was explained by the very knowledgeable staff and later the dishes presented with a classy flair. Everything we chose was done to perfection and absolutely delicious. Yes, we will absolutely return. Oh, and the restrooms are beautiful as well.

We were very long my taken here by my sister in law & her husband for our joint 60th birthday celebrations. The restaurant is stunning & fab imaginative cocktails. Food was fantastic & service was great except for one small thing. No one told us that we only had the table till 9pm. We were having a wonderful time, chatting to the waiters during service, ordered desserts & were just about to order coffees when we got told the next sitting were waiting & we were handed our bill. Was an abrupt unnecessary end to an otherwise perfect meal.

I was here on 17th June for my partners birthday and anniversary. The way that Clos Maggiore had accomodated my request was simply spectacular. Jude who had served the table with other colleagues were immaculate in their presentation and was able to reccomend things on the day. I had only booked about 2 months in advance for the most visual room. The wine and the food were mosr phenomenal, i really reccomend the steak tatarre and the sirloin of steak here, presentation was so good. To kick things off further, Clos Maggiore had made 2 cupcakes for our celebration which had far already exceeded my expectations. I would reccomend taking your special/loved ones here if you have the money to spend a bit more on the occasion. I certainly will be coming back! Many thanks to the team for such a special night for me. (ps the truffle mashed potato legit made me roll my eyes)

Response to owner: From your menu Warm Leek & Potato Soup Vichyssoise Leek & Nori Terrine, Cornish Mussels 14.50 You do serve mussels. I was there last night. I have added pictures of the mussels you served, along with undercooked leeks and unseasoned vegetables and stringy lamb. The reservation was made under my husbands name. Do better. Your service and response are appalling. How do you not know what is on your own menu? Avoid this rubbish tourist trap at all costs. Disappointing food and service. We ordered mussels that were gritty and were told that its just a risk when you order them after complaining. Not a knowledgeable or acceptable response at all. The rest of our food was fine, but really nothing impressive. Our waiter was supercilious and unpleasant at times making rude comments and acting shocked when our card was accepted for payment. The only good aspect was a knowledgeable and pleasant sommelier. Clearly Clos Maggiore is only concerned with aesthetics.

I am incredibly disappointed with this restaurant. I specifically chose it to celebrate our anniversary during our special trip to London. When I made the reservation in advance, I informed them of our celebration and requested a nice table. To my surprise, we were seated right next to the entrance door. When I asked the host about this, she mentioned that such requests typically need to be made in advance. She didnt check or make any effort to accommodate us. I didnt want to argue and spoil our special moment further, but I regret not choosing another place to celebrate our anniversary. Ironically, they acknowledged our anniversary by giving us a small cupcake at the end, yet suddenly seemed unaware of our table request.

If you are looking for somewhere special to celebrate an important event, treat your special person, or simply to have a relaxing dinner, look no further, because Clos Maggiore will not disappoint you. From the minute you step through the front door, you will be met by a friendly and highly professional team who will give their best to make sure you have an amazing time at their restaurant. The ambience in this place is very relaxing, calm, romantic, and seductive. The tables are well-spaced out, which gives some kind of privacy from neighbouring dinners. The staff delivered a high-end service with sommelier talking very poetically about different types of wine and how it will compliment each dish. The food was exceptional. The menu was simple, but at the same time, everything was well-thought through with no unnecessary or extra ingredients included. We decided to order only main courses and went for beef, lamb, and duck with carrots, broccoli, and mash. Before I begin complementing duck, let me mention that I never knew that carrots could taste soooo yummy. Sheffs of Clos Maggiore are wizards in disguise. Duck tasted great. Meat was very tender, and the dish was well balanced with sweet and sour combination of souces and orange and vibrant spices of the coaring cutting through, but not overpowering the flavour. Only one minor downside for me was that I am not a fan of fennel seeds with what the duck breast was coated, but it is only my personal preferences. The rest of the dishes were very tasty too because we all went quite eating, enjoying culinary art in front of us. If you need a special treat in your Iife, I highly recommend visiting this restaurant .

Food is beautifully cooked. Very rich. Incredibly tasty. The wine menu has thousands of bottles to choose from and the sommelier is very charmkng and very helpful.

Beautiful main dining room..wonderful service. We had the Vegetarian Tasting Menu, and it was wonderful. The place was so gorgeous that it was literally filled with beautiful Asian influencers documenting their every bite.

Beautiful food at a beautiful place. We went here for lunch and took their lunch set with a bubbly (a great deal!). I had the mackerel tartare and tempura risotto, both were very delicious while my friend had the cod and the savarin dessert. Also very delicious. The inside of the restaurant was also very pretty.

Had not been to Clos Maggiore for 10 years and the first thing they said after my arrival at the restaurant was Welcome back after 10 years. It was a special event- my birthday. And I got a really nice table in the centre of the conservatory. The staff were very attentive and welcoming. Of special mention was the Polish lady, the sommelier, whose name I believe is Natalia, whose knowledge of the wines was excellent. I went for the 5 course taster menu with 5 wines and I was not disappointed with the quality of the dishes, their presentation and the matching if the wines. At the end of the evening I got a lovely small box of chocs to take away. I will definitely be back. And the wait will not be 10 year wait for my next visit.

This small and cosy restaurant in Covent Garden must be one of the prettiest in London. We so enjoyed our meal here it is ideal for pre Theatre dining. Good value menu high quality food and beautifully served by a friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Beautiful restaurant with outstanding food and service.

Been to Clos Maggiore before I was a mum and loved it! Really disappointing as I just booked online for a midweek lunch to sit outside with my friend with our tiny sleeping babies and received a call to turn us down. I understand there isn t much room in the restaurant and that people might not chose to dine with a possibly crying baby, however I specifically booked outside to avoid causing bother. As a previously loyal customer who always recommends this restaurant I m really disappointed by their lack of accommodating all people.

Clos Maggiore is a restaurant with a standard of its own. Both my wife and I have been to countless top restaurants. None were as good. The attention to details, the service, the food. Everything about this restaurant is absolutely top-notch. While the prices are high, you certainly get what you pay for. A special thank you to our waiter, Nikola, whose every recommendation was spot on. We absolutely loved the experience. Worth every penny!

What a truly beautiful and romantic restaurant! From the moment you enter, the staff is extremely welcoming and totally top notch across the board. They have a very knowledgeable sommelier and a huge wine selection. The menu, including the cocktail specialties is thoughtful and creative. Managers and mater d constantly circling and interacting with diners. You can tell how well managed this establishment is as the courtesy and professionalism permeates everyone you encounter. My husband had the crab and asparagus to start which was delicious. For our mains, I had the sirloin and he had the pork. The presentation was artful and sophisticated. Unfortunately my sirloin was oversalted, although prepared the way I like it, the meat was tough and difficult to slice through. My husbands pork was dry and also tough/chewy. The deserts looked amazing, so we will try them next time. This restaurant got so many things right, that although our mains were a bit off, we will definitely go again and explore their selections further. We do recommend.

We have been to this restaurant several times in the past for special occasions and have always enjoyed our experiences hence why we choose to go back to celebrate my wifes 40th birthday and imminent arrival of our baby, however on this occasion the experience very disappointing. Firstly my wife who in heavly pregnant was made to wait half hour before being seated despite having a reservation, no cloakroom service or refreshments were offered while we were waiting. Once seated we were given bread but had to ask 3 times for butter. Generally the food was ok but underwhelming compared to previous visits and on the cold side. Also the chair I was seated on had a large spring hanging out the bottom which was digging into my leg. This was changed once I asked but not great to have not noticed this previously. Finally I had mentioned before arriving we were celebrating my wifes birthday and was told that would offer a complimentary cupcake to help celebrate but nothing was given. Its a shame as previous memories we had are now replaced with this recent impression and therefore would think twice before returning. I feel this restaurant has past its best days.

They were so friendly and the price was really reasonable in London. If I get a chance, I want to visit again The service from the staff is also great. Its the most beautiful restaurant in the world. And Im really curious about the brand of bubble that was served together.

Very average experience, booked for a birthday celebration and was placed in a room (not conservatory). The dishes were small and underwhelming, average chewy steak for main course and mouse for desert. Nothing entirely special about the food, not worth the hype, believe it s just the fake flowers that everyone goes crazy for on the ceiling. Moreover, could almost hear myself chewing it was painfully quiet. Surprisingly, I wouldn t recommend to a friend. Take a look at the reviews beforehand and the defensive feedback from management, before you choose to go.

Week menu with two courses was such an experience. Had the cod and mousse as desert. Great wine included. Good value for money. Definitely would recommend.

While both the food and the wine list were excellent and worthy of 5 stars the rest of my dining experience was not. Our table was situated right in between the bar and the stairs coming up from the kitchen. It was basically impossible to have a conversation with the level of noise coming from the bar and at no point could we relax with the waitstaff constantly rushing in and out of the kitchen. In my opinion this table should not exist. The dining experience in this establishment is very dependend on where you are sitting (with the observatory being the place where you want to be), sadly at no point during the reservation process was I being made aware of that. I highly recommend that you insist on being placed in the observatory while making your reservation

A restaurant with a romantic setting and great service! Had a lovely time for our anniversary celebration with really engaging but not intrusive conversations with the staff as well. That being said, I would think its on the pricier side for the food - it is good but doesnt blow you away and make my taste buds dance.

Came here with a friend to have a Pre-Theatre menu dining experience at what looked to be an iconic French Dining venue in the heart of Covent Garden. I booked well in advance for 5:30pm. I arrived slightly late and they were super chill about it. Upon arrival my coat was taken away to be safely stored and was led to my table where my friend was already seated. What instantly blew me away was the interior decor, I felt transported to a traditional old-style brasserie in Paris with the dark wood bar and cabinets to the maroon coloured walls and chairs. The ceiling flowers may have been a bit tacky but we werent complaining. We took the time to absorb the menu. If you are into your wine, this is certainly the place to go because their wine list was less of a list and more of a tome! From the Pre-Theatre menu we both opted for the Mackerel Tartare for starter, my friend has the Cod for Mains and I the Pork. Complimentary bread and butter was provided which we nibbled on once our drinks arrived. The Pre-Theatre menu came with a glass of prosecco which we swapped out for glasses of house white and red. Both the wine and the bread were great and couldve eaten / drank more! The Mackerel starter was somewhat underwhelming. The pieces of mackerel themselves were great however the accompanying elements were not leaving the Mackerel do to all the heavy lifting. The beetroot wasnt pickled or flavoured in anyway leaving it a bit bland. The same goes for the pickled cucumbers, they tasted of water and only provided texture. All they needed was some salty, sweet and/or sourness to counter the fattiness of the Mackerel. The pork and cod however were both excellent and almost made up for the disappointing starter. The pork was perfectly cooked with a lovely crisp and chewy crackling which complemented perfectly with the apple, radish and greens. My friend loved the cod saying it was cooked just the way they liked it and the caviar provided that lovely pop in the mouth feel. The service at this place was as youd expect for a venue of this stature - 11/10. Just one look at a passing waiter and they would be instantly attending you. The napkin test was also passed. All in all a great dining experience that was sadly let down by one of the courses which is why I will be giving it 4 and not 5 stars. Which is why I will still be recommending this place as it is definitely one of the more unique places Ive had the opportunity to eat at.

Lovely restaurant with great service and ambience. However, food quality is excellent but portions are tiny, so if you are hungry, better have a big lunch or prepare a midnight snack.

We will remember it as one of the best restaurants we have been to. The quality of the food is indescribable as is the service and beauty of the restaurant. We took advantage of their midweek lunch offer which includes the possibility of choosing 2 dishes for the price of £30 accompanied by a glass of bubbly. The menus with the different proposals are on the site, we have booked and there is a non-refundable deposit in case of cancellation within 48 hours, as in many restaurants in London.

My favourite French/ fancy restaurant in London. The service is impeccable and the floral decor is so iconic. I ve been here many times and it never disappoints.

A bit of a tourist trap. The food is rather basic and of bland taste. Most energy seems to be put in the waiters/personnel who give a show that is supposed to resemble traditional Italian dining culture? Between meals the tablecloth is theatrically scraped to remove crumbs and when you ask a question about a dish on the menu the answer starts with have you been to Italy? You are surrounded by a lavish decor of plastic plants. It came to no surprise that most patrons were Americans. Most exceptional was the shamelessness by which the waiters instructed me to review their restaurant on google maps and hand picked 5 stars for each category, saying it is unfortunate that 10 stars was not a possibility. I guess the popularity of such a restaurant says a lot about modern day consumer idiocy.

If yuo want to go for a romantic meal yuo can not beat Clos Maggiore here the staff are so attentive but the food is wonderful my wife bought me for our wedding anniversary and my birthday would definitely recommend it and so beautiful in the middle of Covent Garden

Requested a table at conservatory for my birthday dinner (booked 5 days ago), they accepted. however they didn t have one when we arrived. We ordered 2 starters and 2 mains, starters were quite nice (scallop and tuna). Ordered fillet beef, medium, it came well done. After talking to the manager, they changed it for us. The turbot had a nice sauce, but nothing was memorable. The temperature of the food wasn t good enough. The best thing during the evening was a conversation with a friendly staff member named Giles. He was polite and funny.

Great atmosphere, there are only few tables on the main room, so need to book well in advance, but it is very unique. We came for anniversary dinner, the food was nice, maybe a bit too hyped up. What we really liked was cocktail list and a unique set of cocktails that are served in swan glasses and come in a beautiful cage, that was very memorable! I would recommend the restaurant for the atmosphere but not for the food. We also saw someone proposing while we were there, popular place for proposals.

We had a reservation and were sat immediately. My husband and I both had the pre-theater menu which was an excellent value for the price and everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. That menu comes with a glass of bubbly. When our waiter learned I was pregnant, he arranged to have a non-alcoholic cocktail made and it was also delicious. The atmosphere was beautiful, but the service was impeccable. I wish I had caught our server s name. He truly made it a 5 star experience. This was our favorite restaurant experience in London.

We had an amazing pre-theatre dinner here before going to see Matilda. I would highly recommend this place. The service and food were all amazing! To start with, we each enjoyed a glass of bubbles, which is definitely a very nice touch. For food, we both started with the warm leek & potato vichyssoise, which was lovely. Then I had the roast cod and my partner had the risotto of reggiano parmesan and both of us very much enjoyed our mains. The cod was cooked perfectly and the warm salad of monks beard & sea herbs was a very interesting touch. I had never heard of monks beard before, but I really enjoyed it. Then for dessert, we both had the delicate mousse, which was a delicious ending to the meal. All of the staff were amazing and the ambiance was gorgeous. This was probably my favorite meal while in London. I definitely hope to be able to go back.

Very romantic restaurant, my girlfriend was really happy about the experience for our anniversary. Service was excellent, all the team was well experienced and flawless, we also had a chat with the Sardinian sommelier and it was nice to talk to him about wines and the award winning cellar of this restaurant. The food was very tasty and well presented, the lamb dish is incredible, loved the truffled mash too. I would have preferred a lamb jus served with the main, instead of a Gravy , but it was still delicious so final score is definitely 5 we ll be coming back for sure.

Booked the table 2 months prior.We arrived one hour early and sat and had a drink whilst we apreciated the beautiful decor which i had been looking forward to seeing. We sat down for our 9:15pm table on time.We was asked if we would like water and order a bottle of still which never arrived 9:35 pm and we still havent been asked what food we wanted nor had anyone take any notice.Still no water arrived and our menus were closed still. I waived a waiter over and askd to oay for the drinks and he asked why.I told him we have waitd over 20mins to order and he replied i wanted you to finish your drinks first I asked for the bill and he went off somwhere...another waiter came over with some butter for bread that we never had. We left upset and the front desk said good bye have a lovley evening not noticing that she had only showed us our table25mins ago. Disaster and so disapointing

Love this place. The Food is exquisite, the wine list colossal and the staff excellent. The downstairs dining room has a more relaxed/casual vibe, yet still classy. Whereas the upstairs dining room I find is more quiet and intimate. Just an amazing place and will continue going back time and again.
