DARKHORSE, NOT ONLY BY NAME We've been quietly emerging into prominence for the last 8 years. Little known to start with. now unexpectedly excellent. We're a thriving local's gem, here to be discovered.
Great Sunday Roast the lamb was so soft and pink. Everything seasoned wonderfully. It wasn't very busy and we were able to be sat 40 minutes early for our table, but the service was slow. Food came out quickly and hot, but the service was slow. Great friendly staff and cocktails were delicious.
I had a great experience here, amazing food and friendly / attentive staff. I had a surprise extra guest join my group and the waitress helped us move to a bigger table with no issues and the order and bill were handled smoothly. One of our group had an intolerance and the staff were knowledgeable and attentive when working out what options to choose. We were all impressed with the quality of food and drink - specific compliments for the truffle soup. Very chill atmosphere, some classy extras like branded ice cubes too!
Love restaurant in a nice area. Staff are excellent, very attentive. Service was fast. Sunday lunch was ok. Pork was a little tough, dry and the crackling was chewy with basic veg and not much variety.
I recently dined at Dark Horse Restaurant in E20, and I must say the experience was outstanding. The food was exceptional—I was so hungry I completely forgot to take pictures! I started with a delicious fig dish, followed by a perfectly cooked duck for the main course. Each bite was memorable. The service was attentive throughout, making sure we were well taken care of. The wine selection was impressive, offering something for every taste. The ambiance is modern and “New Wave,” striking a balance between being a great spot for friends or a more intimate, candle-lit evening. Highly recommend!
Pros: Ordered the Sunday roast with a glass of wine for £28. The porchetta was tender and seasoned to perfection with a smoky flavour. The carrots were amazing, I almost mistook them for sweet potatoes! For starters, I had the arancini, and the sauce it came with was unexpectedly delicious, definitely recommend. Cons: The only thing I didn’t love were the potatoes which were more on the crispy side than fluffy so perhaps a bit too much oil. Overall: Food was excellent, the staff were lovely and very attentive, only making the evening even more special.
The Sunday roast was exceptional, the quality of the ingredients were very good. The mushrooms croquettes were delicious. We couldn’t seat inside as we didn’t book in advance, but definitely we will come back. Highly recommended.
We had a work team dinner at Darkhorse, the service was wonderful, thank you Nicole for looking after us so well. We had the sharing menu as we were a large group. Absolute winner not only was the food delicious and some of the dishes were totally new to some of us but the experience of having the sharing menu absolutely works in a large group. Highly recommended! Will definitely be back. Well done Darkhorse team and thank you to the Chefs in the kitchen !
What a lovely brunch, the service was impeccable. I work in Hospitality and this place inspired me. We came with my partner and had great food for brunch, superb bloody mary and the terrace is a lovely spot. Very well priced brunch! We will be back and that shakshuka was wondeful. 😍
The bread was freshly baked. The cherry Manhattan was sublime and I had some of the best cooked fish I have ever had. I would highly recommend this place, every time.
All around a poor experience to be fair in the Stratford branch the manager or whatever he is by the name of jonney is unprofessional, was weirdly rolling his eyes and kept on talking about his personal life when taking my order. The food was dry and the drinks were luke warm. Wouldn t recommend
Very good and friendly service, would highly recommend
We had a great time , food was great, atmosphere was good and staff were friendly defo recommend
Excellent restaurant in E20. Brunch menu is particularly good. Outside seating is also available.
Excellent food, ambience and service an overall perfect dining experience
Delicious food. Massive meat portions cooked to perfection. Friendly and efficient staff
Great food, pleasant friendly atmosphere
The only issue i have is with the service charge, when did it become the norm to charge for the service automatically at such an outragous percentage and not at the customers discretion, just wrong
Delicious food, great service!
Bar was wet, when advised the staff, not interested, my shirt was wet , no apology, no tissues etc offered. Very rude and no customer service. Walked straight out.
Simply the best restaurant in the area. Just wow !
Great, cozy European kitchen restaurant with fresh beer and delicious pasta and steaks. Nice wine selection, cocktails with a twist, lovely desserts (try affogato!). Warm ambiance, friendly service, perfect for a date night or casual dining. Seasonal specials are a must-try!
We live the wine, food and service! Thank you!
My daughter booked 15 of my friends for my surprise 80th birthday. What a sensational three course meal to everyone s choice! The wine was well chosen and the staff couldn t be more attentive and friendly. We were going on from the restaurant to the ABBA Voyage concert. Mum, me, was dressed in full ABBA regalia along with other friends. The staff played ABBA music and three of us were dancing apart from the other diners , who were there to enjoy a quiet Sunday beautiful meal. To be honest we were out of order, but no unruly behaviour at all. We were told the other diners enjoyed it as well. We re definitely going back before for my 90th! The owner s mother enjoyed her 80th, but more quietly. Just can t thank DARKHORSE enough for an exceptional meal with fantastic hospitality. Definitely from everyone of us! CANT THANK YOU ENOUGH! not filling in all the questions for 15 but everyone was totally amazed with everything they ate and the service and atmosphere was top class! DARKHORSE deserves to visited and appreciated! Jo Hurley, Leigh on Sea
Friendly dishes and modern cuisine. Good atmosphere and average service.
Brilliant local restaurant- the menu excellent for meat lovers, fish lovers & veggies alike. Superb cocktails, great wine selection, both inside seating with great music vibes, or outside alfresco in the square. Highly recommend. Staff were great too.
If it s a warm welcome, homely atmosphere and a great dining experience you re looking for, then you ve found the right place. We are extremely lucky to count Darkhorse as our premier local restaurant and are dedicated repeat customers. Elegant fine dining, Darkhorse exemplifies the two cornerstones of any good restaurant; fantastic food and personal service. But let s not forget the extensive bar and great mixologists. Sit at the bar or counter and watch the chefs work their magic, whilst sipping on your favorite cocktail, book an al fresco table outside with a chilled rose, enjoying the architectural dream that is E20 living or impress your date with the more formal option of a corner table inside, with a bottle of the lovely house red, (I highly recommend) all without breaking the bank. Darkhorse has something for everyone and like us, you will be returning again and again!
Great vibe, great food, even better service! An absolute gem of a spo. If youre lucky enough to be nearby, you need to try the cocktails. Absolutely top tier.
Great options for gluten free
Amazing, food is excellent, service was excellent and the cocktails were too!
Amazing place, delicious food, great service, good cocktails, really liked the atmosphere also. Sunday roast was fantastic. Will definitely come back. Food
We sat outside but the interior looked nice. Food was lovely to be fair, but there were four of us and we all agreed that the portions were on the small side and for the price of the desserts, you d think you d get a portion that would bring a smile but instead they were really skimped on. Probably won t go back as we don t mind paying for good food but do mind not getting value for money.
Poor service. Waited for about an hour for somebody to come to our table outside, but at 10pm when they did come we asked to order some drinks and they said they re closed , despite google saying they close at 10:30. So you pretty much have to get last orders for even drinks in before 10. Pretty poor. The menu looked quite dated and disappointing too, if I m honest. No vegan options apart from sides.
Matt and team have turned this place into a home from home for me
I ve been going to the Darkhorse from the beginning and I couldn t recommend this place more! The food is always on point, the drinks are exceptional and the service is first class. The owners and staff are just the nicest people you could meet. I keep going back for all of these reasons. I highly recommend this place. It won t disappoint.
Absolutely fabulous evening - great venue, great food and fabulous service. Highly recommended.
What an excellent place to grab a bite to eat prior to a trip to the cycling track, the ABBA show or anything in that area. We had the pasta - beautifully presented and very very fresh. Service was attentive and just right with lots of smiles and good beer to go with it. Will be going again when back in the area.
Tasting evening event. So good
Really nice food, nice staff, nice location. Im looking forward to going again. Food
What a lovely surprise!! The food was excellent, really well seasoned and tasty and the service was what it should be everywhere! Kind, welcoming, attentive, professional, smiling!! The atmosphere was also lovely! Definitely will be coming back regularly!!
The best place in the Olympic village in Stratford. The scrambled eggs were creamy and delicious and their quinoa red pepper salad really compliments the eggs. Top spot!!
Yesterday, my family and I visited Dark House, and it was one of the worst dining experiences weve ever had. Despite not having a reservation, we were seated quickly, which was the only positive aspect of our visit. The waiter took about 20-30 minutes just to take our drinks order. We then waited another 20-30 minutes for the drinks to arrive. We ordered three main dishes and two starters, along with bread and olives. We had now been at Dark House for one hour and had only received our drinks, still waiting for our food. To our surprise, only the starters came out (we wanted it all at the same time). We reminded them about the bread and olives, and that came out shortly after receiving our starters. Another drink order was taken at this point, which took about 20 minutes to arrive. Incredibly, we waited another 45 minutes to an hour for our main courses to come out, and the food was not even that delicious. We received a few apologies from the waitstaff, who explained that the kitchen was busy and they were short-staffed. However, this is not our problem as customers. To make matters worse, people who arrived just before us had received their food, eaten, and paid their bills before we even got our main courses. Several other tables that came in after us also received their food before we did. It was honestly ridiculous. Overall, this was definitely one of the worst restaurant experiences Ive had, and I will not be returning. I expect someone from the restaurant to reach out to address this appalling service.
Great food, nice decor and lovely staff. The pork chop was deliciously charred, the buratta nice and creamy and the crème brûlée super delicious. Highly recommended!
Very popular and welcoming all the diverse people families of the world Peaceful and walkable distance from Stratford International DLR and National Railway stations and Westfield Stratford. Food
Excellent Sunday roast! I could happily have eaten a plateful of each of the component parts - my pork was delicious, with proper crackling, the roast potatoes, beans and carrots were equally really well cooked and full of flavour. The Yorkshire pudding tasted like a home made one and the gravy just continued the quality trend of the meal.
Warm space with very friendly staff. Decent food
I m celiac and I ordered my meal gluten free, but they forgot and gave me gluten. After I pointed this out to them they picked the gluten off my plate and didn t apologise. Ordered Sunday roast. Food and atmosphere were mid (aside from being served gluten). Pork was nice but the roast potatoes were dry, not crispy and the portions were fairly small. Dietary restrictions: Very bad place for dietary restrictions - they don t take allergies seriously.
Lovely food. Friendly staff.
Excellent food, very good Sunday roast, good selection of items on menu. Plenty of choice on wine beer and cocktails. Medium price range. I would be happy to dine here again. Update. Visited again today, for the 6th time. Its still excellent, cant fault the restaurant or staff.
Delicious food, good service and good value!
We had Sunday dinner, 2 adults and 3 teenagers. Everything was perfect, nice atmosphere, friendly staff and fantastic food! We had Roast lamb with yorkshire pudding and more, it was just perfect. All of us strongly recommend to eat here.
Food was lovely and service was great and very quick. Thank you
I absolutely love having the little gem on my doorstep. I have been going here for years as the food is absolutely amazing. The service is also outstanding as they are friendly, welcoming, and very knowledgeable on the wines or the food. Even at times when I havent booked they will squeeze me in. The Sunday roast is also delicious. If you are thinking of trying this place 100% give it a go as you wont be disappointed!
Lovely, modern but cosy pub. Great food!!
Top quality food and service combined with lovely ambience! Roast Cornish Sea trout, buttered greens, roast Italian new potatoes and the Bakewell tart were excellent!!!
Solid place for a decent meal. I had the pork, my friend had the sea trout. We enjoyed our meals in the restaurants pleasant atmosphere. The music was nice and not too loud, so we were able to chat. The staff were attentive and only gently moved us along as they were trying to close. They only have one draft beer and limited wine by the glass, but everything is high quality, so no real downside to dining here.
Great evening, amazing service, brilliant food. Loved it.
Great food!!
Sunday roast was sublime with generous portion and good quality
The dark horses in interesting hotel. An arrival particularly at night there doesnt appear to be a clear indication where the entrance is? The reception area is continuously in a low light by day and by night. The trouble is it becomes a turn off to the older generation who struggle with low light to read documents and are mindful of footing. It would be interesting to know what lighting there is in the event of an emergency. The reception staff are very friendly and accommodating The dining area is well laid out, and is busy. The staff are very attentive although the food could be improved. We opted for the steaks which were well cooked. However, the salad was simply a collection of green leaves with a hint of brown with no effort I thought to make it appealing. The rooms are very clean and well laid out with a kettle and lovely biscuits to welcome you there.
Good food at a reasonable price. Service was good too.
It s a nice place with good decor and menu but I was disappointed with the service - I can t have garlic, and I ve been told by the waiter I could only order fish dishes as all the meats are marinated in garlic So I did order fish that was with chard in the menu. When it arrived it was just a fish fillet on it s own. To my surprise the chard is also marinated in garlic, and the waited told me that only after I enquired about it with my food being on the table already. They have side vegetable selection of dishes (which we ordered) that are garlic-free and none of them were offered as the replacement.
Lovely food in a special building. A bit pricey but Ive never had a bad drink or dish here. Seems to me that every wine, every morsel of food has been chosen by a real enthusiast. (Just dont drive there; finding parking is a real heartache and the enforcement company have laid many traps for the unwary)
Fantastic cocktail selection, plenty of their own and any old favourite on request !
Sunday roast was good. Staff was nice.
Brilliant place , have been coming here for many years since it opened. Great food, great service and great drinks
Great restaurant for a family gathering. Delicious food, beautifully served. I definitely intend to return.
Excellent steak and deliciously moist roast chicken. Grab a counter seat to watch the incredibly efficient kitchen staff. Really great.
Great quality, good prices
Great meal here with the family. Service was great and food even better. The sirloin was delicious.
Nice atmosphere and good food
The desert let both the starters and the mains down. The sour dough bread was also very good. All in all Avery lovely meal, late lunch, was enjoyed by myself and my partner.
Tasty Sunday Roast
Today I had my first experience, having Easter lunch with my family. The food choices are impeccable. The carrots, were absolutely delicious
The only inconvenience is the parking, which is a nightmare. Food is great! A bit of a twist to the familiar Mediterranean tastes. Relatively cheap, considering 2023 trends so far.
I recently dinner at The Dark Horse with my kids and family, for our Easter Sunday meal. We loved it so much, that my eldest child told the waiter, theyd give the restaurant 5 stars if the dessert matched the level of the starters and the mains. So here I am, on behalf of my child, whom at times is a harsh food critic, giving a 5 star review! Well deserved!! The food was absolutely scrumptious and we will 100% be returning. Kid-friendliness: Very accommodating and friendly towards my children.
Amazing wine As a Spanish person I give a 10 to the Croquetas de Jamón and the Chorizo
It was a great place for a date night
Really good quality food and drink. Been a few times and never disappointed. The price is worth it! The special events and Sunday lunch are very good.
We booked a table for 10 before we went off to the matinee of ABBA Voyage and had the most amazing time. The food was exceptional (so tasty from the charcoal oven) and the service was just brilliant - really friendly and very efficient.
Expensive non-pasta Italian cuisine that s more like mediocre pub food. Dishes are poorly executed and any flavour is due to excessive salt. Slow and disorganised service.
Excellent food and friendly staff
Darkhorse in Stratford London is one of our favourite places to go for a treat meal. We have visited many times and we miss it a lot since we moved out of London. My girlfriend has severe allergies to nuts, eggs and sesame seeds and this is probably the best place we ve ever eaten at that accommodates her allergen needs. They have their own menu for allergens but the staff are also very helpful and willing to talk to the chefs and make some adjustments or substitutions if needed. This has made my girlfriend feel very comfortable and relaxed every time we visit. I also love this place and I think they have some of the best food I ve ever had at a restaurant. (the onglet steak is amazing) The prices are reasonable for the quality and the service is always friendly and professional. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves great food and for anyone concerned about allergies. Hoping to visit again in next weekend!
Had a great experience tonight at the dark horse. The food was amazing as was the atmosphere. We decided to stay and have a few drinks at the bar after our meal and it was great to watch Matt and Rhys work their magic with the cocktails. True professionals, masters of their craft. Not the first the time we ve been here and certainly won t be the last. Highly recommend this for a quality night out.
Great location, interesting menu and very crisp chips!
Delicious food, great service, awesome cocktails, and an amazing soundtrack. Whats not to love! Food
Amazing dinner
I had high hopes for a pleasant lunch with friends at this restaurant, but unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. When we arrived, we were surprised to find that we were forced to order from a specific, overpriced menu, which seemed to be tailored for Fathers Day. When I kindly explained to the manager that I only wanted the main course and didnt need the full package, I was met with a dismissive attitude. Despite having confirmed the availability of the regular menu items, the manager refused to accommodate my request. Their lack of empathy and rudeness was disappointing. Its disheartening when a restaurant doesnt prioritize customer satisfaction, especially when we had booked in advance and had no interest in the special occasion offerings. The managers inflexibility and lack of understanding overshadowed what could have been an enjoyable lunch with friends. Overall, this experience fell short of my expectations, and I would hesitate to recommend this restaurant based on the poor customer service and lack of flexibility we encountered.
This is a very good place, 15 minutes walk from the main station and very worth the effort. The casual, welcoming atmosphere greets you as soon as you enter. The food was very good and beautifully presented. All in all, excellent value.
Love this place, it s our local favourite place to eat. Small but well chosen menu and there s always a nice vegetarian option and a fish option.
A firm favourite & my go to Sunday Roast joint!
Everything, from the service to the presentation and taste of the food was amazing! Highly recommended, we loved our cocktails and I personally recommend the pork neck
We had a meal for 13 here after our wedding and we couldnt have asked for me. The food and service were excellent. We have been regulars for the past 5 years and Darkhorse always delivers.
Amazing food and menu! Suitable for large groups.
Very nice restaurant with excellent food and very kind staff!!
Good food, excellent wine, beautiful environment, attentive and fast service. adequate prices. Highly recommended for those who live in and around Stratford. (My first review was sent with only one star by mistake).
Nice spot. Great food. Good sharing menu..
Great food, good wine list and cool atmosphere, feels grown up. My only problem with the place is where it is. There is nothing else around there to do after or before unless you like pretentious bars. If it wasn t for that I d be going back a lot, please open one in central London and not luvvie central.
Average food and poor service. Just returned from Sunday lunch. Waiter just dumped our food down and didn t ask if we wanted anything else. Also no check back to see if the food was okay. For £28, you can get much much better in London.
Took my nieces and nephews to the DarkHorse to meet their Grandmother, some for the first time. From booking to the last handshake at the end of the evening these guys were amazing and so accommodating. We didnt ask for too much I hope, but everything was a yes. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing especially the steak. And loved the music vibe...
Lovely dinner spot, perfect for date night! They have a very impressive wine menu, the service is fantastic and very friendly. I ordered the grilled pollock for the main - really tasty. The squid arancini balls are amazing and a must try. Overall lovely meal, I will definitely be back :)
Overall good atmosphere, however the food was under cooked and I ended up with food poisoning and missing work.
The name dragged me in! Flew in from Dublin this morning, walked past & reversed when I saw the name!! Then thankfully, happily watched my daughter Lara in The Veledrome up the road win Gold & Silver this evening in The #UCITCL & came back in on the way back to the airport. Thank you Matt & Crew. Nice place. Highly recommend. T
Very nice roast chicken
Loved the choice of food, everything we had was delicious
Absolutely brilliant meal. Lovely food, friendly welcoming atmosphere and top service. A new favorite. Probably the best restaurant in the area! Sunday roast was top draw, as was the fresh fish!
Delicious food, we had already made a reservation in the Netherlands. Friendly service, delicious food, good ambiance. Because we were having a nice chat, we forgot to choose a dish. The waitress gave us plenty of time to figure something out. Bottles of tap water were constantly being added and replaced. When we ordered dessert. It turned out that the server had not passed this on and we had to wait a little longer (which was not a problem for us) When we got dessert, we got it on the house expense and didnt have to pay for it. 4 spoons were also given (we had only ordered 2 desserts) Nice that they thought of that. A nice, beautifully decorated restaurant, highly recommended.
Great experience and great food!! Dog friendly Food
Delicious Sunday roast
Amazing! Fabulous value! Best service and to food & drink sublime well done DH x
Great restaurant!
A good Sunday roast ruined by insanely salty gravy. Service was slow and not responsive to the complaint when raised (twice). Would not recommend unless you fancy overpaying for a block of salt on your plate.
Banging Sunday roast
Visited for Sunday lunch and had a great time. We had a selection of starters which were all generous and very tasty. I had the porchetta roast which was a treat and a step up from the usual roast pork. The meat was very tender and my companions who had steak said it was perfectly cooked. Dark Horse has a great wine list which is definitely the best value around. I dont know of any restaurant in the area with so many choices under £30. You can order within your budget and always be happy with what youre drinking.
Went last night for drinks and nibbles, and we throughly enjoyed this gem of a restaurant. The staff are fantastic, as are the drinks and starters. However, Matt was absolutely amazing serving us our cocktails which were exceptional. Will be back!
Great vibe, food, drinks and music. Very much enjoyed Sunday lunch. Slightly on the expensive side (I paid £70 for food and drinks), but thoroughly enjoyed it and was quiet enough to have a good conversation so I didnt mind.
Very nice venue Friendly staff Food delicious.
Best Sunday Roast and most accomplished service team in town. Always a real pleasure to be back:
Food is excellent! Went here for valentine s dinner and everything was perfect
First time visiting this restaurant and I m sure it will be my last. My starter and main course was too salty; I couldn t eat it all. My party had the same experience with their food. It s a shame because it was my birthday, but instead of celebrating we were complaining about the food. Drinks were nice though.
it was recommended to me for the sunday roast I was very impressed for the quality of the food and for the variety of this dish. The place is cute and the staff is kind
little bit too expensive for the food, nice starter
Food came out promptly the prices are fair and I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Good date night venue away from the much busier central Stratford. Service was good too
Been here a few times. Food is always good, one of the best restaurants in the area
Nice food, well presented, nice service, the portions could be a bit bigger though.
Great food, open kitchen, Bertha oven, good wine list. Been many times and will continue.
A fantastic restaurant owned and managed by two professional chefs with over 60 years of combined experience. Matt is an incredible mixologist and makes a mean Godfather Sour - I definitely recommend it. Mas who is leading a dedicated team of waiters and waitresses is always very welcoming and has a strong customer-centric mindset. Although expensive, I cannot fault the quality of the food whatsoever - you get what you pay for! I recommend the 800g char-grilled sirloin steak (for two people). After living in London for five years, I have not experienced a better steak anywhere else. 10/10 restaurant. If you haven t tried it yet then you know where to go!
Not worked for me
I live in the area and I go there a lot. Food is decent and quality is consistent, I am giving one star because of the poor service. If you are hungry, dont go there, because it takes them 45 mins to bring food for a party of 3 (30 mins if its just one person). Water and bread arrives 15 mins after you place the order - yes, 15 mins, just to bring some water and the bread arrived cold, its not like they are taking the time to warm it up. Also one waiter in particular is very rude. He is a black man, with a (seemingly) Spanish accent. There was once when I arrived with a bike, he gave me a seat without saying anything but later I felt like I am getting discriminated just because I have a bike, when he would move my bike around without asking me, saying that if everyone brings a bike, the restaurant will become a parking lot. My food is delayed when he was busy chatting with his colleagues. And when I asked to speak to his manager because of his attitude, he refused to bring anyone saying he is the manager. He was equally rude to other tables, to a point where the lady in a different table would ask for an other person to serve them and again he refused to bring any one. As a regular cyclist I understand that not every restaurant welcomes bikes, but I would expect to be notify when I arrive so that I can go elsewhere, without having to go through this horrible service. I am very disappointed to have received this level of service from a seemingly decent restaurant for which I am a regular.
Really good meal, melted goats cheese with honey and rosemary was a rich, heady starter. Onglet steak was very tender, the others with me said their pork chops and the chicken starter was tender and juicy. Relaxed and unpretentious service.
horrible. food is mid but other than that everything sucks. starters took an hour to arrive, music was really loud, giving me a headache. don t recommend very dissapointed
They really seem to know what they are doing in the kitchen. Probably the best pork chop I have ever had. I have been there three times now, every time all of the dishes were great.
The pollock and coffee was good. The environment was great too. Apple crumble was a little too sweet and sour for me though
Exceptional meal for 3 here yesterday afternoon. Everything was delicious from start to finish. Perfect cocktail and a delicious Malbec.great service too Such a lovely setting with outside dining. We will return. Would love to try their Sunday lunch.
its ok.
We went in for an early dinner before going to the London Stadium. The menu is a great. We had salted caramel espresso martini upon arrival. Food was perfect, we had the Sirloin on the bone with butter greens and a glass of wine. Staff were lovely and our food was perfectly cooked. Would definitely recommend to anyone and we will definitely go back when in the area again.
Fantastic food, cocktails and service as always
Lovely restaurant with very good food, interesting and tasty cocktails and helpful staff. The olives for a start were delicious and different to any others I had tried, the 2 starters were both stand out - mushroom croquetas and the goats cheese. A solid espresso martini and a cocktail that I can t remember the name off but was new to me and really drinkable. Sea bream and the onglet steak both done about as good as anyone could hope for, the sea bream especially was totally balanced and tasty. One of the staff also allowed us to order crispy new potatoes upon request, the only mild disappointments was the buttered greens that I get could have been more varied/interesting and the toffee walnut desert, with the coconut ice cream the flavours were complimentary but the pudding was just a little too tough on the outside for my liking.
Amazing food, great service, good value for money
Very good atmosphere chill and great service
Vibrant restaurant with a menu on the high-end in terms of quality (and also price, but its worth it!) You could be satisfied with both nibbles and drinks, same tapas or a full meal as they have a nice selection for all courses. A vegan menu is available. The staff is very professional, the drinks are excellent and the bar is able to accommodates personal preferences about drinks. Surely recommend!
Food was good and atmosphere was pleasant however the wait was very very poor.
Really enjoyed our meal, l had roast boar , my wife and grandson had a fish meal, all Really good, staff very friendly, nice setting and a fair price.
We to our delight discovered the Dark Horse Sun downers (early bird) menu.. The quality is consistently high and price reasonable.
Very clean restaurant, high quality food, excellent service. I recommend it 100%
Lovely restaurant in Stratford s East Village that serves delicious tapas-style starters and a very good steak and Sunday roast. The mahogany interior design is lovely and they have a great alcohol selection to pair with their menu. Service was great and food was super tasty, would definitely come back again. I highly recommend the sirloin or lamb Sunday roast, both portions were generous and so delicious :)
Visited on the 30th July 2022 after the Commonwealth Games cycling at Lee Valley velodrome. We had olives to start with our drinks, fresh pasta and fish for mains. Service was good, food cooked to order and delivered pipping hot. Great to sit outside on a hot summer night and enjoy it all.
Good steaks
Always amazing food Lamb was delicious!
Really enjoyed our outdoor meal here, particularly the pork chop. Good wine selection and well made cocktails too.
Incredible food !!! Cant say more, im speechless! :) great design, very professional staff, its a pleasure to visit this place :)
We had dinner here on Friday night. The food was amazing and the drinks were really special. Matt is an amazing bartender, I can recommend his old fashioned. Best I ve ever had
Fantastic food, wonderful cocktails, and a lovely atmosphere!
Good food, nice staff still serving food after 21.00 on a Saturday night.
Good location. Great staff.
I really wish I took photos inside especially once evening set in it was stunning, as it was so warm we chose to sit outside but its a lovely place with a lovely character inside. The staff was friendly and attentive but also gave us plenty of space to enjoy our time and conversations without constantly interrupting. We used the sundowner set menu and chose the 2 courses, really good value for money. Loved my pig chop it was so succulent and cooked to perfection. We shared the 2 desserts the Creme brulee was divine and so was the hot chocolate brioche pudding I cant recommend enough! Our cocktails was quite strong and tasty definitely got our moneys worth. Definitely add this place to your list! Everything was on point cannot complain
Lovely place, friendly staff will deff revisit
Nice food great place amazing cocktails I recommend it
Fantastic food and very attentive and friendly service. Absolutely worth a visit.
Lovely meal. Food fantastic. Staff very polite. We will definitely go back.
Have a great time every time we come to Dark Horse. The food is fantastic and the staff are great. Will keep going back for more and feel very lucky to have them in our neighbourhood. Vegetarian options: Never struggle for veggie options on their menu!
A large charming establishment with seating for dining parties of all sizes. Exquisite Mix of tasty Mediterranean influenced British cuisine. Superb Customer service!!!!! I cant fault it at all. Clean
What a fabulous restaurant. We went before the Abba show. Delicious food and great service. The Hake risotto was sensational. lovely waitress and barman
This place is great if you want to eat a good dinner.
Superb food, should really cost more considering the quality, excellent. Service was great, friendly staff, lovely setting as well. Will be back for sure.
We had a selection of small plates - all of which were wonderfully put together and presented and all delicious! Service was fantastic as was the location- highly recommended!
Nice place, Lamb was delicious
At £20-30 a meal, Darkhorse is my go-to nicer resturant to take people. The food is excellent, especially the Sunday roast which is tasty and balanced. The resturant is often fully booked so book ahead especially on Sundays. The desserts are to die for.
Great quality menu and food service.
Never had a bad meal in here, always absolutely delish and love that they update the menu often. Was a bit cold inside! I know its the height of winter but I had to sit with my coat on which wasnt great... but over all really good
A lovely restaurant with an open kitchen by the bar so you can see the care taken over preparing the dishes, comprising of very good ingredients. The staff are a little bit young and inexperienced but keen to be helpful.
Hidden gem! Surprised how quiet it was there, really nice food, friendly staff, will definitely be back
Went to the restaurant today with my friends and had a terrible experience. The restaurant was too loud we couldnt hear each other talking as they were hosting a office Christmas party so couldnt be helped. However we had ordered normal coke and received diet coke when sent back we received the same diet coke however this time without the bottle and in a glass cup to cover their mistake. We didnt complain as we didnt want to make a fuss over it. It took over 40mins to receive our order while tables who were seated and ordered after us received their order alot quicker. We were never checked on like the other tables were either, not sure if it is because we are POC, but couldnt help but feel that way as we were the only table of colour. We then had to wait an extra 20mins to get a waiters attention in order to get the bill as it was quite clear at that point they were trying to avoid our table. We did not feel welcomed and will definitely not being going back again.
Was the worst service ever, took forever with my order. I was expecting the food to be better since I waited so long but my pork chop was too salty and so hard to cut into, wasnt able to eat half of my food because of it. Overall the only good think was the potatoes fries. Never going here again the food gave me a bad stomach ache.
The food was terrible(bland).we had to wait for over 40mins before being served!! We were the only POC table at the restaurant and other customers who came in after us, had their food served!! We also asked for coke and the waiter brought over diet coke bottles and glasses and then we told him we wanted just normal coke. The manager then comes over later with just glasses with the drinks already poured in ( without the bottles). When we took a sip, we knew it was diet coke. It was so sly!!! We saw others being served normal coke with the bottles. No one attended our table but they would attend everyone else and ask of they were okay. Deeply saddening experience!! It does not feel good to be treated like that, especially when you havent done anything wrong!! Seems they only treat a certain demographic well!!!! Do not go here!!! Spend your money elsewhere ( they are so over priced too)
