Brilliant food, service and quality, highly recommended

If you want food that tastes the best, rest assured, the food here is stellar. Modern British/ European style, generally its an assortment of small bites with brilliant and complex flavours and textures that combine light and rich with near-perfect balance. The atmosphere is low key, but that helps create a non stuffy vibe. Professional, attentive service. £150 each for four courses (which youll definitely want) plus a drink. Its a bit dear, but honestly, you easily get what you pay for, and when youre finished, youll probably think you couldve willingly paid more. Order the welcome snacks and mont blanc for dessert.

What a disappointment. Firstly, the food. Have you ever heard British cuisine get stick for being bland and boring? This place is the reason why. The flavours were incredibly dull, even when a lot was actually going on with the dish, you could only taste one or two things. Besides the underwhelming ingredients, the execution was also poor - the lamb main course was 60% fat and it hadn t been rendered in the slightest, making it difficult and, frankly, unpleasant to eat. The only way to describe the wine pairings is inoffensive and that s a compliment. The wine added absolutely nothing to the dishes, poorly selected wine with absolutely zero imagination. The only saving grace was the service which was very professional and friendly but unfortunately it doesn t make up for everything else. If you re after great British cuisine but want a positive experience, try The Dysart in Petersham or Dinner by Heston in Knightsbridge. Portland is not on par (or even in the same league) as those places.

Is there a restaurant that youve always loved, one that has stayed at the top of your favorite restaurant list for years? A place where you and your friends go to celebrate all of life s important moments, and even after a breakup, when youre feeling down, seeing an available table there is enough to instantly lift your mood because who needs a relationship when you can have great food? You hope it wins every restaurant accolade in the world, but theres a bit of a dilemma once the whole world falls in love with it, itll become so much harder to get a table. Portland is that place for me. I m so happy to see it reopen after a renovation this year, and I love it just as much as ever.

We had a family lunch in the private dining room to celebrate following our civil wedding in April. The food, value, service, small touches were all impeccable. Our family still talks about it. Portland also let me drop off some name cards and set them out ahead of the date. Top notch in every way.

I loved my experience at Portland last night! Not only was every bite of the food incredible (and the bonus extras of the fresh bread, butter and hollandaise, and the beautiful treats at the end) but the staff were so kind, welcoming, and helpful. I had to step out to take a call from my teen daughter, who had a tough day at school, and when I explained this to my waitress, she brought out a small pot of honey to bring her as a gift. How incredibly thoughtful. Would totally recommend this place for many reasons, and I will definitely be back!

I admit I was a bit sceptical before going as I like big portions and thought, fancy restaurant, small portions totally judging and happily wrong! Everything was delicious! The soda bread was the best bread Ive tasted. The mackerel and chorizo starter was too good! A great blend of salty and spice. The service was great and knowledgeable, The duck breast was cooked to perfection - look, just go, you need to try it for yourself! So good, my purse was empty by the time I left, but it was worth it.

Relaxed fine dining in a cozy restaurant. The set menu is well worth its price and presents some beautiful and well composed dishes. The bread serving is quite memorable, it comes with hollandaise and butter. Finally the staff was attentive and friendly, which made for an overall relaxed and fun experience.

I went to the restaurant for a birthday and we had a great experience. The staff were very friendly and had even signed a card for the occasion. We had the 6 course tasting menu which was very filling, diverse and well considered.They were also very accommodating for a gluten allergy, substituting where possible and creating a different course option where not. They do ask you let them know in advance for this which is perfectly reasonable. I would definately recommend this place to anyone. Dietary restrictions: Very accomadating

Went to celebration my Bday in Portland everything is so amazing and they gave me a Bday card and and cute honey as a birthday present that was very sweet. Foods are delicious. Nice staffs and great service

I ve never had food like this before. The staff are really nice and what the chef has creating is some of the most magical dishes I ve ever tasted. It s hard to compare it with anything else that s out there. The price is also really good for the level of quality of food you re getting.

Small & intimate about 40 covers in main restaurant .The service was excellent last night we went to celebrate my birthday.Cara & her team could not be faulted . We had the tasting menu which was excellent £89 for 6 courses in fact there were more like 8 courses . If I had my way again I would have chosen the pairing wine option I saw more experienced guests take this and it seemed to work really well as it was we had an excellent Californian Chardonnay. Highly recommend for that special occasion

Went here on a Saturday evening and had the tasting menu. The food was delicious and the courses were served well timed. Staff and service were great and the atmosphere quite relaxed.

The food was exceptional, everything we had was a taste explosion, we were given plenty of time and the cocktails & wines were great, I took my partner there for her birthday and she was very happy, service was great but a little too gushing for me.

Words fails to describe how good this was. Had the tasting menu with the cellar wine pairings. Certainly wasnt a cheap evening but worth every penny. Staff were great fun as well.

Great service, friendly staff and the food is absolutely delicious. The highlight was the mushroom&parmesan macaron and the somerset saxon chicken with confit leg.

Quite literally maybe the best dinner I ve had in London

This was food art. So beautiful, so delicious and the staff were friendly and funny which made the atmosphere cosy and unpretentious. The chef and cooks have so much talent and were simply delighted to share which was delightful. Not only that, anyone (including us!) who was celebrating an occasion received a handwritten card signed by all staff. Just a great experience 100/10 would recommend.

Go here! I went for my bday and wasnt feeling great upon arriving. The staff was remarkably accommodating while my wife had her dinner and got me tea. I had the amuse and did get to have a few bites and what I had was incredible. I thank the staff for helping me salvage a rough day.

This review is a long time coming, as my partner and I celebrated our anniversary here in January. Even after several months, we continue to look back on our evening with joy and wonder. Portland is a truly special place. Humble, elegant, inviting, inspiring. We walked in to be greeted warmly by the host, who congratulated us on our anniversary. This was lovely, but no match for what followed. At the table, we found a card that had been signed by the entire team! I have never experienced such a welcome, let alone in an establishment boasting such an accolade as a Michellin Star. Our meal was remarkable. Each dish we tried was equal parts nourishing and beautiful. The flavours were delicate and balanced, and the plates were gorgeously constructed. Excellent wine as well... I was moved to see the team in the open kitchen consisting of nearly exclusively women, something that defies the unfortunate stereotypes of the restaurant industry. I am proud to have experienced the work of such a team, and I am prouder still to share my experience here. I just hope I have done it justice. Thank you, Portland.

Expensive but worth the experience I had the 95 pound one and I enjoyed most of meal but the meat with bread was salty for me. And i personally do not enjoy bread with meat replacing it with potatoes will be more better

Had a little self date here for lunch and it was lovely. Every dish was presented beautifully, portions were very fair meaning I could enjoy a 3 course meal with the accoutrements without feeling over stuffed. Nice wine as well. It was a treat as the price is aligned to their reputation and Michelin star.

Unfortunately, it was a disappointing meal. I had expectations as Portland was recommended by a friend and I heard great things. However, I think the service was a bit funny the day we visited and the food was just not at a one starred level. My friend was running 30 min late while I got there on time. After my friend arrived I felt like they wanted us out ASAP. The entire meal was not enjoyable and it fely very pressured, i thought I was sitting in an exam! I ordered the beef tartare and my friend ordered the trout as starters. The tartare was good, but my friend said the trout was tastless inside. I ordered the venison wellington as the main. The venison was well cooked, but the bone marrow sauace was very over seasoned. The only two things we loved were the desserts. One cheese cake, and the other was the apple and pear pie. One other thing I have to comment on after visiting Clipstone (their sister restaurant) back in September is that they share the commonality of placing knives on phones. I understand if the phone is in the way of placing cutlery on a small table it must be annoying for the server. However, as a one starred resturant I think it you should have good service and hygiene in mind. Not passive aggressively placing cutlery on a phone. This was very disappointing. As I paid for the bill and went to the toilet, I tried to pick up my coat downstairs as the server had placed my jacket downstairs. I was looking for it so I dont need the server to go down stairs, and another staff came to me asking what I was doing - thinking that I was asking suspicious? She sounded inpatient and pretty rude although I did tell her that my server told me that she put my coat downstairs. She said to go up and check with ther server. Please keep in mind that I dont think anyone who comes here, ready to pay £100+ has the intention to pick pocket. The tone was just not welcoming to me. My coat ended up being brought up during the time I was in the toilet. My friend said both long coats were being place on my seat and one was sliding towards the floor. After she picked up hers, mine was hung on a short hanger next to our seat touching the ground (it was white). These are just service details that made me not want to come back. The vibe was very rushed and the service didnt feel welcoming/genuine. I understand they want as many customers in as they are located in a very central area in London, however there are many other one starred restaurant that are just better.

Great food, wines very interesting and excellent explaining and extension from the sommelier. Whole staff team were so welcoming and just a very nice evening all around. Venison wellington superb.

Delicious food and fantastic wine pairings

The dishes and wine were superb but somehow the service lacked warmth and engagement. Not bad but given the price point and star, I expected more.

I personally went to many Michelin restaurants, from bib gourmet til 3 stars. I d say the food was ok, more dimensions would be perfect. Ingredients are great, can tell that they use good quality of ingredients. Also, there was something wrong with my food, so they gave us chicken wings + caviar on top, and two free drinks as a complimentary. Service, some give us really good service but some are just ok which I d say, a little bit above average. Casual atmosphere and really nice paintings on the walls.

A beautiful experience with artesian food which challenges all your taste buds. The staff were lovely and attentive. The tasting menu had some real stars of the show (leek with egg confit) to name just one and the wonderful chicken dish with a tart. One to remember for sure. Just lasting points I would have like to have eaten slightly quicker we were there for 3 hours which felt abit excessive for 3 courses but its all part of the experience.

I dont really know if I enjoyed the food at Portland Restaurant. The email when booking explained that being a party of less than four, we would have the table for two hours maximum (which is completely understandable, especially at peak season and considering recent challenges in catering). However, from the moment we were seated (for a table we arrived perfectly on time at 12:30), we felt immediately rushed to start choosing drinks and making food selections. Even when we asked for a few more minutes, we were given literally two minutes. I was meeting a French business associate for the first time in-person, with whom I barely had a chance to speak without regular visits from pressurising waiting staff. Being his first trip to London since the pandemic, he asked if all restaurants in London were now like this (to which I said absolutely not). After a whirlwind two courses and coffee, under 90 mins later we were brought the bill without even asking for it (and without my guest even finishing his coffee), before being asked (politely but suggestively) if we minded leaving as they needed our table. I was quite disappointed and embarrassed, although didnt kick a fuss given the fact I was with a new business partner. If however I was with my wife or friends, I would have questioned the abnormal practice and certainly would have asked to speak to the manager. So anyway, the food seemed technically brilliant, flavoursome and perfectly presented, but nothing tastes good when you feel rushed, unwelcome and anxiously bitter. I dont plan on returning purely due to this sour experience, which is a shame, as everything else probably seemed on point.

Incredible food and dining experience if you want a focus on quality seasonal produce.

Really just beautiful to be honest. I cant think of anything that I would have changed about our dinner here. Top tier food without all the formality and faff of some other restaurants in central London. A great menu that had a few unusual prices (try the duck hearts, they were sublime!) and served by the friendliest of staff.

Seasonal and reliable in the best possible way- 3rd time @ Portland. Would recommend my best friends (Y/N: YES! Setup: Business lunch, party of six at a fully booked Friday afternoon. The dining room is relatively small and open space. So far it has always been lively but never noisy The style is minimalistic and very uncomplicated. Menu: I opted for the pescatarian dishes from the lunch menu. The price/ value ratio is unbeatable for a Michelin star restaurant. Great selection within three course with an additional selection of mouthwatering snacks. Food: Portland convinces me through their understanding of their produce, using seasonal ingredients. Always cooked with a cheeky twist but consistently delivering top quality dishes Service and drinks Service was super friendly - serving one of my favourite selection of orange wines and fig leaf negronis. I was going to give four stars as there was a bump in the lunch however Jennifer our amazing server did everything to make it right and truly saved our experience! We had lunch there today and bought a bottle of Vevue Cliquot vintage rose. They charge the SAME CORKAGE at lunch at dinner which on line I saw reviews etc showing it was lower at lunch. Not true It is £30. The beef Wellington was delicious however I asked for very rare and my moms was but mine was not. Jennifer was helpful and made up for it. The cheese course was lovely for my mom. I really like the pink firs potatoes. The offering a little amuse Bouche at start and then a little sweets at the end were a nice touch and although it was £30 to serve the delicious champagne it was still awesome and well it is a small restaurant so they need to charge. They include service however Jennifer was so professional so good we left her extra £10 whixh she more than earned! It was worth it and I d eat here again. My mom had cheese course but skipped apple and oatcakes. All around wonderful meal

I was so impressed with the vibes, the food, the wine that sommelier recommended for the first time. For some reason, it is just okay this time. Nothing really surprised me. I m thinking if they changes the menu or chefs?

A fabulous, casual Michelin experience with the flexibility of a la carte or tasting menu that fits with everyones needs. Great selection of food - the truffle risotto was very special as were the small bites. Wine list is small but very good - however they have a fantastic £30 corkage as well and we took that option as I had brought a bottle. Service impeccable and very friendly. Well priced as well - 75 for 3 courses or 95 for the tasting menu. Highly recommended for just a casual dinner or something more special.

Quite a pleasant dinner at yet another London restaurant showcasing the British ingredients. We took the set menu and most dishes on it were quite enjoyable but none were really exceptional. The wine pairing was a little disappointing. The atmosphere was quite lively but relaxed and the waiter really added to it, making us feel comfortable. My rating: 4.0.

Came here for a cold winter night meal for celebratory meal. It was a meal of ups and downs. The sharing starter of oyster mushrooms with fried egg and black garlic sauce was incredible. So good that we ended up using the bread to soak it all up. Conversely the main, the pollack was a strange dish with green dusting, fried squid as accompaniments. The squid didn t do much to enhance the dish but rather broke the continuity of flavors and texture. Portland was one of my favorite restaurants in London. Would I go again given the inconsistency? I would probably recommend to go again given the great atmosphere and service but food can be hit and miss unfortunately.

Portland is by far, the best Michelin star restaurant (or any restaurant) I have been to - in London and other countries. The food is innovative, creative and tastes amazing whilst the service strikes the delicate balance of being attentive, thoughtful and alongside you when needed. I appreciate the fact that the restaurant is relatively small in size yet it doesn t matter where you sit or whether it is a date night, business meal or lunch with the family, you have the space to enjoy yourselves. I have been fortunate enough to have visited Portland several times and not once has the menu been the same. What a great testament to creativity and innovation. As for the snacks . I could create a meal of its own just with these.

Incredible food and amazing service, the smoked trout was unbelievable. Truly an unforgettable experience! The wine pairings were also excellent and the service was very good. I was equally impressed by the cocktails, the mezcal paloma was delightful.

Had a really pleasant dinner here with my fiancé for Valentine s Day. We opted for the tasting menu with wine pairing; the food was delicious! Our favourite was the trout and dessert. The wine pairings were amazing had to note down a few and will defiantly be purchasing some. The staff were really kind and attentive. Overall great dinner and night. Thank you.

It broke the idea that fine dining was just expensive and tasteless. It is delicious and casual, and allows you to experience various tastes and textures such as sweet, bitter, sour, salty and spicy. None of the dishes I ordered were half-cooked or made me feel like this was a simple, generic, run-of-the-mill dish. Highly recommended. With two desserts and wine added to the lunch course, it came to about 180 pounds. It was a bit pricey for a casual daily meal, but it was really delicious. This store I have no choice but to give 5 stars to. There appears to be a room on the first basement floor for multiple reservations. I think it would have been better if the first floor table was a little further away and had an independent space.

Biggest waste of money. I only treat my loved ones with Michelin star restaurants once a year as I can t really afford it so when I go I really look forward to it. But it was a real disappointement, the food was extremely salty, maybe someone in the kitchen accidentally dropped too much salt in? (I usually like my food salty but this was far from being the level of a Michelin star). We were rushed to choose from the menu when we first came in and I also felt that we were pushed to order more wine constantly. Really unpleasant experience, we ll definitely won t be back.

Lovely experience. We loved the sophisticated but casual vibe. Great food that will most certainly delight your senses. We especially loved the food and wine pairing of the tasting menu which was exceptional! Very knowledgeable and clearly passionate sommelier!

I love this place. Ive been twice and cant wait to go again. The food is really delicious, small portions but very rich so the quantities are just right. Everything was delicious and the staff are so lovely; they are super helpful and knowledgeable about the dishes. Vegetarian options: They have a decent number of vegetarian dishes, at least one for each course and a number of vegetarian side dishes. The Rosemary potatoes are the most delicious potatoes Ive ever tasted (and being Irish Ive tasted a lot of potatoes )

We went with my wife, her sister and my brother (plus their respective couples) to the private dinning room. We had the tasting menu which was good but not impressive for a michelin restaurant. Ingredients were super fresh but dishes lacked of the wow factor. Service was great with a dedicated waitress in the room. Atmosphere was great, relaxed and cozy. Would recommend as it still a good value for money.

Not cheap but excellent food with very good presentation. Definitely effort was made to make each dish looking super nice and very tasty as well. I guess that s why they have a star. Service also very good, friendly and informative. Would go back again.

Amazing food, service, and atmosphere. Lovely and chilled out, and not fancy or stuffy. Almost a cafe vibe which is great for a Michelin star place. Great lunch menu at a good price, and a great wine list, again with prices starting incredibly reasonably.

Food was great and service was flawless. The only reason for deducting a star is that we were sitting downstairs in what felt like a cave.

What an absolute treat! We had the very reasonably priced weekday prix fixe lunch menu and were completely blown away. The dishes were delicious, perfectly executed, and feasts for the eyes. The service was casual but extremely attentive - our server gave us great recommendations when ordering and brought us more bread when she noticed how much we enjoyed it. Love this place and we will be back for more!

Wow, 5 star restaurant

I wish i could give a 6th star. Last night i hosted a large group in the private room. Everything about the experience was exceptional. Planning an event for a large group is so stressful - people rsvping late and then cancelling and then at the last minute deciding they wanted to attend. Roxie who helped manage everything was so wonderful. She made it all so easy. And then the evening.........we did the Feast menu and every single item was beyond delicious. And the stand out of the evening was the service. Izzy took care of us with a command of the room that made for the most magical experience. Graceful, intuitive and joyful. And we had one gluten free person and that can so often feel like an afterthought and that person felt like they were so well taken care of.... We will absolutely return. Thank you to the entire team!

Had my birthday dinner with an old friend. Received a birthday card signed by all the staff soo sweet The dishes were all very delicious from amuse bouche to dessert. The portion of food is just right neither too full nor too small the service is warm professional as well as efficient. The plating is neutral with a touch of design. The dining environment is cosy and relaxing. It is a good place to go after work. Would definitely come back sometime.

This place never disappoints! When you want something nice but not specifically French or Italian, this is the perfect balance. Is it British? I m not sure but it s good anyway. They change it up so you get a surprise every time.

My partner and I got the tasting menu with wine pairing and it was just perfect. We felt very cared for by the staff and particularly enjoyed learning about the wines with the very knowledgeable Sommelier. Would strongly recommend for a special date night!

Pretty good

First of all, the service is bad. We need to pure wine by ourselves as no one came to serve us. They didn t clean the table after everyone finished the last course. The table was messy, and when we asked for group photos. They still didn t clean up, I wouldn t expect that in a high-rated restaurant. But! The food is nice, I especially like the Isle of Mull scallop and Burnt leek. And! It is one of the tasty Michelin restaurants that would not go wrong. Overall, I would still recommend this place for my friends.

Portland Restaurant delivered an unforgettable dining experience for my husbands birthday celebration. We opted for the 3-course menu & a couple of nibbles. Each dish we tasted was a culinary masterpiece, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The lobster starter and mango dessert were absolute highlights. Exceptional food, excellent service, and great value - a must-visit for a top-notch dining experience!

Visited with my partner on Friday evening as we had read the reviews online and wanted to try with us visiting London for the first time. We decided to go for the taster menu with the wine pairing. The food was delicious, every single dish we had was incredible. The staff were very knowledgable. The service was great, we were taken care of so well whilst we were there. Couldnt fault it at all we absolutely loved it!

Top quality fine dining in Central. Its plus points (beyond cooking to perfection), are its intimate, unpretentious setting, and that its not unreachably pricey despite its location and quality. I love it, and its still (!)) good after many years.

I dont know, I cant find any other advantages besides the affordable price. The waiters attitude when I first walked in made me want to leave. She was probably the general manager? The attitude of the waiters in the restaurants I have been to in the past has always been very good. In addition, the dishes were very salty. I drank four glasses of water, especially the pork belly and bread. How did the chef make the bread salty? Moreover, the selection of ingredients for the six dishes is very cheap, and scallops and fish seem to be the best ingredients. However, the waiter who came to check out and help fill up the water was very nice. At least I didnt have to wait too long. It was a pity that I didn t ask about my dining experience in the end. I really wanted to tell them directly that this meal was really salty!

The food was excellent and that is the first thing that matters. Unlike fine dining Michelin rated restaurants, I was quite happy with the more casual atmosphere of this restaurant. I feel more comfortable to come in, eat and go without worrying about the whole process. The dishes are carefully crafted as you would expect and the menu is well curated. The service is well timed and the staff are friendly. I was personally quite pleased with the whole experience and would recommend it for a relaxed, good value and high quality lunch. A 3 course lunch service is £49 and should be a role model for similar restaurants across London. Overall, without a doubt I would recommend this restaurant.

Our experience was nice enough but I expected more for a 1 Michelin starred restaurant. For example, we decided to get two different snacks but there were £4-5 each but you expect this to be included in the menu. We opted for the 3 course al a carte priced at £75 and my friend and I shared the lobster (very good) and partridge agnolotti (good flavour yet too salty) for starters, duck breast (cooked perfectly and great flavour) and the pork (although the pork was cooked well, some of the elements were too salty) for mains and the apple pie (very stodgy) and burnt cheesecake (good) for dessert. The sides (£7-8 each) of potatoes (salty) and kale were very average and not worth getting. The wine suggestion was great and overall, the staff were polite and friendly.

Great plates to share (or not) and great wines in a mid-century modern atmosphere with lovely service

Everything was fine but no wow factor. The welcome snacks were easily the best part of the meal, fun and well presented. The type of fish felt a bit pedestrian for the price point and there was little variation between the two dishes. Service was attentive and friendly. Saw quite a few people coming in to eat alone whilst staring at their phone, which took away from the atmosphere, although its obviously not the restaurants fault. Had a nice evening but wont be returning.

Such a great civilised lunch venue. Food is excellent and slightly old fashioned and 80s in presentation, but my delicious, salty scallops followed by a small amount of duck with smears some lovely beetroot and carrot and buttery kale generously smothered in parmesan. Not trencher-man stuff. Some nice but pricey cheeses and a Sauternes to finish off. Quite remarkably good service from people who seem to like their jobs. I ve eaten at Portland Restaurant more than fifteen times. It is always great. The waitress, Ilaria, calls me by name.

Such a lovely evening spent in Portland. Friend booked dinner here and I ashamedly hadn t heard of them before. They have a simple set menu approach with 3 courses to Taster Menu. A mix of dishes to cater for most tastes. Restaurant itself has a simple decor with an open bar and kitchen area which lets you see the magic happen. Staff are friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. They are there when needed but otherwise execute their role with little fuss. Food is delicious, well prepared and beautifully presented. Great wine and drinks list cap it all off. Good value for what it offers and well deserving of the Michelin star it has been awarded. Get yourself here before they win another and the prices inevitably go up!

I want my money back!!! It was our 3rd year anniversary and it s a disappointment. We waited 45 minutes for the starter! What a joke!!! The actual joke is that I told to the waitress that we waited for an hour for the starter and she turned and said no actually it wasn t an hour!! Yes it wasn t Im terribly sorry

Strongly recomended I had a lunch with my son in this lovely place! The staff was very professional and the food was amazing! As a no table cloth restaurant, you would expect everything to be more like a pub, but its not! It is faboulos! And I got a birthday card signed by the staff. Thank you Portland and see you soon!

My partner and I had a lovely holiday season dinner at Portland last Friday. We booked the counter thinking it would be near the kitchen but in fact faces the street. The seating was no desirable so would recommend a table if you can get it. The host moved us when a booking canceled which was amazing. Great service - all timed really well, kept water topped up, short delays between courses. Slight delay on getting the bill. Food - Great balance of flavours and mixture of cuisine. Dishes on the tasting menu were perfect size. Smaller than the main size but were just the right size leaving you wanting a bit more but not needing it. Great dishes; Shout out to the Hake with fish bisque and the hereford steak with trio of artichokes. The cheesecake dessert was a perfectly balanced ending.

Myself and 2 friends ate here around 2 weeks ago and thought it was truly excellent. The food, atmosphere, drinks and service were some of the best I ve experienced of any Michelin restaurant. I was on crutches at the time and the waiter kindly sent me down in the lift and couldn t do enough for us - a real credit to the company with his passion and personable nature. It s rare to enjoy every single dish when you opt for a tasting menu, but we really did. Thank you all

Michelin starred restaurant serving great food and good wine selection

Dealt with me bailing lunch due to work emergency really well. Kept table open during busy service and had me to return after I d dealt with it, cooking food fresh. Couldn t face me having to eat it out of a cardboard box! Outside of the service, most importantly, the food was amazing. While it s not cheap I d say it s great value amongst its peers. Crazy to think you could actually spend similar in some pubs and not get anywhere close to the quality on offer here. As a bonus it s not gimmicky which is a blessing in London today. My food was perfectly cooked, well sourced and in season. A great experience, thank you all!

Went for a lunch with a couple of friends. Great service and food. Like a super nice neighbourhood restaurant but with that little extra in terms of service, menu and taste. One of my friends have a dictionary of allergies and they catered without missing a beat. All in impressive.

Arrived for birthday table for 2 and had the 6 course with paired wines.Not very comfortable table and chairs and rather cramped. Good view of kitchen if you like open plan kitchens. Of the wines- was all good selection except the grillo and the Sauternes which is an over used/Selected Desert wine. The amouse bouch was good- but it s pretty standard at most one Michelin star restaurants. Beautiful dishes but small portion especially the starters of tomatoes the halibut, the scallops and the school tomatoes. The lamb hogget was good Exocet the smaller piece was rather chewy. The extra Gorgonzola is was good as was the main desert dish. Service was good but got more pressured as the night got on. Noise level in the restaurant was significant at one point- couldn t hear what the other person was saying .

Very good restaurant, I had a lunch here with a friend recently. Set lunch three courses for 45 pounds is incredible high standard cuisine, very tasty and nicely presented small portions. Staff is quite professional and friendly, thank you! Highly recommended!

Loved the vibe, the food and the staff

A superb dining experience. The room is quite minimalist, with a laid-back vibe, putting the incredible food front and centre. We had the three-course lunch menu, which is insane value for the quality of the food. There are a number of options to choose from, all featuring a fantastic variety of British ingredients. My wife, friend and I each chose something different for each of the three courses, and sampled from each others plates... and there was not a single miss across any of the nine dishes. Each was more delicious than the last! We all agreed it was one of the best meals weve ever had, and we have had the fortune to dine at a number of extremely good restaurants. Portland easily deserves three Michelin stars based on the food alone. The wine list was also excellent, with a great selection of wines by the glass and really helpful, accurate tasting notes. Good recommendations on pairings, too. The service was extremely good, friendly, and informative, though I did need to ask for a correction on our bill at the end (very unusual in my experience!). Cant recommend it highly enough.

Had the most wonderful time and meal at this restaurant. The food was absolutely fantastic and I can understand why they have their Michelin star (they certainly deserve more)! We were served by a lovely lady called Ali who recommended us a delicious rioja and made us feel so welcomed. She s a real asset to their team who are all so smiley and really seem to love their jobs! I will certainly be back. Thank you!

Took my partner here for a celebratory occasion and was glad I did. Aside from the food and service being great as expected from a Michelin star restaurant, but the attention to detail helped tip it over. When we arrived, there was a bit of a tongue in cheek card waiting at the table for my partner. Really reasonably price tasting and wine pairing menu.

Overall a good experience except that my halibut was over cooked and the brown butter cake had a grainy cream.

The food and service was fine. The food was not worthy of a Michelin star. If it didn t have a star, I would say the food is slightly above average. It s not bad but definitely not spectacular or notable.

Would recommend going at lunch, they have set menu specials which cost a bit cheaper than if you went for the same menu at dinner.

Not all of the dishes worked. In fact there was something seriously off in several: the Parmesan and mushroom macaron had too sweet a finish and the cookie parts were more like tiny flat dense biscuits, the bow tie part of the ravioli was inedibly thick and akin to hard dough, the fig leaf custard tart had almost no flavor. Even though we ordered 6 dishes not including the bread and two desserts, the staff told us we needed another dish - the Cornish mids - of which we could only muster a couple bites so quite wasteful. The Michelin star is a head scratcher

That hogget is not good, the cut with skin part is very difficult to chew and when ask the waitress, she said it is the natural of animal . HeHe

Not sure why this place has a Michelin star. Its marginally better than roast dinners at home. We were really looking forward to our meal given the reviews, and being owned by Jancis Robinsons son, the wine list too. What a disappointment. The staff were good but sadly the food did not match them.

Consistently one of the best restaurants in London. Opened in 2015 and quickly earned their well deserved Michelin star. Serving modern seasonal British cuisine. Ive been a number of times over the last 7 years and the standard of cooking and service has always been memorable. The lunch menu of 3 courses for £45 is excellent value and make sure you order a few snacks as well to start off with.

Good quality ingredients but can t really say that the food was that exceptional and deserve one Michelin star. The starter (crab) was delicious, but the main (pork) was just ok. Service is very decent. Portions are big enough. And £45 lunch deal is very reasonable.
