Wild Honey St James was launched in spring 2019 by chef Anthony Demetre. The impressive corner site sees Anthony’s distinctive modern European menus showcased in a striking dining room designed by interior specialist Jim Hamilton. The restaurant was awarded a MICHELIN Star in the 2024 MICHELIN Guide Great Britain and Ireland.
We loved our pre theatre dinner! The atmosphere was too notched same as food! Panagiotis and Vicky were great hosts which made our experience even better! We are definitely coming back one day! Thank you 🫶🏻
We had a very lovely experience at the Wild Honey. I had the best chicken breast among all fine dining experiences before. It is flavourful and tender with almost firm tofu like texture. Chef is absolutely lovely to talk to. Will go back again. Love this place.
The a la carte options were great -- the Sutton Hoo chicken that was featured was a true highlight, while the Wild Honey ice cream also stood out! The service was also phenomenal across the board. When he heard I was celebrating an engagement, the chef personally came to congratulate us, and then proceeding to go above and beyond, spending 15 minutes chatting with us about football and offering food recommendations in the next place we were staying on our trip. Truly a lovely meal, made even more special by Anthony. Highly recommend.
Fantastic restaurant! The dining room is modern, nice lines, elegant and beautiful. The staff is really helpful and engaging. Food is delicious, subtile after taste. Wine well paired and good flavour. Just excellent.
Good if you are hungry. There were only two dishes and desert, but I can barely walk after. Food and service was great. Top: they do have a wine list, it’s not obvious as they have drinks menu with wine in it.
We had the set lunch and I could not fault the food at all. The starter of chicken was perfection followed by moist pork and a delicious tart with not a soggy bottom in sight. Service was attentive and it’s a beautiful location to eat in. But…charging £6 for a bottle of tepid soda stream water is criminal and it’s the first restaurant ever to add a 15% service charge. Stick with tap water!
Amazing lunch. It was pretty much perfect. The venison main is one of the best dinners I have ever had. We had Vicky serving us and she was amazing, friendly and knowledgeable. She really helped make our experience memorable. Thank you Vicky!
Nice menu but beware when ordering the charcuterie meats! There’s a lot on the one plate! Wish there was more snacks but otherwise pretty standard but good meal Edit from original review 2 years ago and increased from 4 to 5 stars: came back since it got its Michelin star and I can say the food, presentation and service has drastically increased in quality. You can see in the latest pics the dishes are way more intricate and flavourful. Enjoyed every course although a little bit cheeky we asked for tea and coffee and they upgraded it to add the petit fours for £18 without our consent. They were all too sweet tbh and we wouldn’t have chosen it but we had a lovely time so didn’t complain and left it.
Service was slow and unhelpful. Food was good but for a Michelin Star restaurant one expects far more.
I know Michelin stars can create a lot of expectations and pressure for the team at the restaurant. So let me start with this: is the food nice? Yes. But is it worth the price? My personal opinion is you can have a better dining experience with a lower price. We all went for the 3-course a la carte menu at £95 per person + 15% service. We were early enough to choose the £45 Early Supper menu (also 3 course, albeit fewer choices. Offered between 17h and 18h30). If the quality of food was the same for the Early Supper Menu, then £45 is probably worth it. The quality of food was mixed. Some dishes were nice such as the venison (not quite amazing level, compared to other fine dining restaurants), some were disappointing, especially the beef. My friend remarked that Flat Iron s even better. Many dishes were simply unremarkable. I remember someone once told me that you can tell if a restaurant is good based on their bread, and their sourdough was certainly unremarkable. Their signature dish is their Custard tart, which was nice. But I think the fact that it was branded as a signature meant that I had high expectations which led me being ultimately a bit disappointed. Speed of service was good. It was interesting how the chef came in and out of the restaurant multiple (an excessive amount of) times, and he doesn t engage with any of their patrons. There doesn t seem to be a massive feedback culture at the restaurant. Had I been asked my thoughts on the dishes (chef or waiter), I would ve mentioned that I was curious why the chawanmushi was served cold when the eel was warm. Occasionally, it took the servers a while to refill our glasses for tap water. But they were still broadly attentive. The coordination also seems like there could be improvements: one server already came and confirmed allergies of guests as listed in our reservation online, and another server came later and asked if we have any allergies afterwards. There just wasn t many nice touches unlike other Michelin restaurants. There was no petit fours. I was at another 1 star restaurant last week and at the end, I was given a copy of the menu. None of that happened here. Was it a good dining experience: sure. But I think I struggle to justify both the price and the Michelin accolade.
Delicious food, service was excellent, wait staff very knowledgeable and attentive, really great experience for a special occasion, we had the a la carte but the £45 lunch menu looks like great value! I have a gluten allergy and was catered for very well.
Great staff and beautiful setting but personally disliked every course. Scallops were particularly soggy and could not eat most of the three courses.
We had a lovely time at Wild Honey for our Christmas Party last week. We had booked the private room, which was perfect for our needs. The food was delicious fine dining, with Chef Anthony even making an appearance. We were served by the very efficient Louange - who was so polite and caring. Thank you to all the staff at Wild Honey.
Top class! And really appreciate the Chef Anthony Demetre coming to chat with us!
Service was lacking I expect more from a michelin star restaurant. Food
What a lovely experience and excellent menu. The ambience was great and the service also perfect, especially Miss Vicky took best care of us.
Custard really at Michelin level! And really kind service by Vicky!
Great experience at wild honey, great service and very friendly staff!
Gorgeous food in fantastic surroundings. Michelin Star quality, but with down to earth, friendly and helpful service and a relaxed, joyful vibe. The pre-theatre menu is amazing value for money.
The pre-theater dinner was truly delicious and a great value!
The appetizers and dessert were excellent. The hot hare made no impression. The service is great.
Superb hare dish. Outstanding game cooking . Thank you chef
We enjoyed the pre-theatre menu and found the food to be full of flavour and elevated. The service level was excellent and the venue is amazing. A real recommendation. Food
An excellent meal. Finesse, delicacy and original presentation make this address a place whose cuisine we are delighted to have discovered.
Absolutely incredible meal! The sea trout was the best fish I ve ever had and the venison was absolutely delicious. Our server Vickie was the perfect mix of warm and professional. Will definitely come back!
delicious food, impeccable service and family friendly :)
Went for the pre theatre menu which was great food and wonderful value. However timings ended up tricky - despite telling them when we needed to leave to make our theatre booking the meal was served very slowly and dessert was served (after chasing) 5 minutes before we had to leave and was left largely untouched
Anthony Demetre does it again. Beautiful food at a reasonable price. Please bring back Arbutus
1. Three people took turns taking the first drink order, but the signatures werent correct and the carbonated water I initially ordered didnt even come out. When I looked at the bill later, it was included in the price, which was very absurd. 2. I made a reservation a few days ago, but something came up during the meal, so I asked to be moved, but the flow of the meal was interrupted, and I wondered if this was basic restaurant manners. 3. I ordered a half bottle of white wine and my glass was empty, but none of the staff knew or cared. I sat there for a while and asked to fill it up, and only then did they give it to me. I thought it would be really easy to pay my own money and eat properly. 4. The food was delicious, the wine and cocktails went well together, and the staff were very friendly and nice. However, the price of drinks that were not served even when I ordered them was included, and I was quite disappointed, perhaps because I had high expectations, but I wonder if a Michelin-starred restaurant can only be of this standard. no see.
Location excellent for the theatre, food fresh and full of flavour. First night back open so staff still a little behind on their routine but would happily return
Very nice meal! Crispy chicken and anglotti were excellent. Desserts were really good had the chocolate and the honey ice cream. Friendly service and decently priced compared to others.
Beautiful dinning room, attentive service. Pre-theatre menu is a lovely, dont forget you need to add a 15% surcharge on top of the advertised 3 course pre theatre price. The gazpacho soup was superb, I could eat that over and over. The dessert was also as standout, not over sweet, simple and seasonal - fresh cherries, ice cream and little crumble.
Incredibile food, excellent pre theater dinner!
Got the pre theatre meal. Food was excellent value for money, though the service was just shy of what I expected. The wild honey dessert was exquisite!
Perfect food with a really cool chef Anthony Demetre who is so nice to talk with us and share with us his tricks behind his amazing dishes. Amazing hospitality!
Service was kind of slow and it wasnt too busy. Food was nice but nothing special. Could have done more with portions.
We sat outside and enjoyed a few cocktails. The atmosphere was amazing, with so many interesting people to watch.
The set menu is incredible value, just a delightful experience all round.
We were visiting London, and as we like to do when we travel, we decided to try a Michelin star restaurant. There were four of us, and two people at our table were vegetarian. The restaurant offers vegetarian options (one per category), but the main option was disappointing to say the least. Having been to these kinds of restaurants many times before, we realize that quantity is not the objective. But to charge £95 for a small appetizer, and then two spears of asparagus with a few mushrooms as the main course, is unreasonable. At this price, every morsel better be sumptuous, and it was not. Both the vegetarians described the main course as fine , which is certainly not what one would expect at a Michelin star restaurant. We have been to many restaurants worldwide that offer exceptional vegetarian meals, but sadly this was a miss for us. And an expensive one at that with a bill more than £600 for four (including 4 cocktails and a bottle of relatively inexpensive wine). I will say that the appetizer, which was also vegetarian, was delicious. They flew in tomatoes from Italy and you could taste the difference. The tomatoes were juicy and sweet and popped in your mouth. Combined with a creamy ricotta and a delightful tomato broth, the dish was subtle and perfectly balanced. The other two people at our table were pescatarians, and chose the fish option, which was much more reasonable in both quantity and flavour. I would describe the main dish as very good, but not something I ll be thinking about for years. Maybe that s an unreasonable standard, but that s what I d be hoping for at a restaurant like this. We have returned to Michelin star restaurants in the past with anticipation. I wouldn t come back to this one. Unfortunately, nothing was memorable for us.
From the moment we arrived at Wild Honey, we were warmly welcomed by the professional and attentive staff. Their kindness created a friendly atmosphere and made us feel at ease. The service throughout the meal was impeccable, with particular attention paid to our needs. Enchanted Menu We opted for the menu option, and it was a culinary delight. The flavors and tastes magnified our taste buds. Each dish was a discovery, with daring combinations and quality ingredients. The dishes were presented elegantly, adding to the viewing experience. Sweet Surprise The icing on the cake (or rather the cupcake) was the finishing touch to celebrate a birthday. The complimentary cupcakes were delicious and added a sweet note to our evening. Conclusion Wild Honey is a place where you can enjoy yourself and feel privileged. If you are looking for an exceptional dining experience, I highly recommend booking a table here.
Slightly casual setting, but the food is amazing! I have visited twice, and definitely, one of the best Michelin single-star restaurants in London. The food is not too much complicated, but they use first class local ingredients. They have many good wines as well.
Blown away by the quality and attention to detail at this place, staff were also very attentive and lovely to interact with. Not cheap (or easy to book) but worth it!! We last visited back in 2022
Exceptional value for Michelin star. Had pre-theatre menu, great service and location. Did some shopping at Dover Street Market nearby.
Too expensive
The best food we ve had in London! Cottage pie was awesome! Service was even better!
Worth for a quick lunch
Very nice, highly recommend
Great restaurant. Beautiful dishes and, most importantly, a delicious taste that emphasizes every ingredient used.
Had a dinner at Bistrot. Lovely flavors, but need a bit more sophisticated looking dishes? Check my food blog for a full review. Food
Enjoyed my first course:- fish soup. But After 1.30hrs my mouth is still stinging from the sauce added to the skate main course ? Brown butter not sure.., the surface was very dark, I couldn t taste butter and it s was intensely flavoured. To me there was a flavour of soy sauce (this could be incorrect) but if not it was as similar. I can still taste it. Importantly the fish could have been tofu.. the sauce was so intense it overwhelmed the delicate flavour of my favourite fish. CH
We had an spectacular lunch at Wild Honey for my girlfriend and I 6th year anniversary, the food had such depth and breadth of flavour in every course, I had the Rabbit which was amazing and I asked for a good wine pairing with my crab starter and the sommelier chose an amazing wine! All the staff were very friendly and helpful and they even brought out complimentary canelés for desert as well as allowing my girlfriend to choose one of the deserts from the set menu even though we hadn t ordered the set menu which was amazing!
We stopped in for a spontaneous lunch during a sudden downpour and they accommodated us and our wet coats. Vicky was a pleasure and made my birthday special. The food and drinks were top notch.
Wild Honey serves up an unforgettable dining experience with food that easily ranks within the top 3 meals Ive had in London, scoring an 11/10. From the appetizers to the desserts, each dish is crafted with care, making each meal truly special. However, the atmosphere could use a touch-up, as it feels more like a hotel breakfast room than the Michelin restaurant quality it embodies with its cuisine.
Absolutely fantastic!
Had a lovely birthday meal yesterday and was waited on by Loange (sp?) who was absolutely lovely! Very attentive, efficient service - and the whole team made sure we made it to our show on time. The food was fantastic, well-presented, and introduced some flavour combinations that we hadnt tried before. I highly recommend it as a pre-theatre meal.
The scones with clotted cream are something from another world
Wonderfull experience ! The meal in 3 parts was great for both of us and the service was perfect. Thanks for this moment Food : 5/5
Best chef ever and service, food amazing also loved it
Highly commend VICKY for her engaging, enthusiastic, warm, thoughtful and attentive care. We all had a special experience that was most memorable thanks to Vicky!
Excellent experience start to finish! Vicky helped us out and went above and beyond. We were seeing a show after, but she ensured we were able to experience the a la carte menu (rather than the limited pre-show menu) and kept the timing on track. Food was flavorful, unique, fresh, and well presented. Highly recommend!
Disregarding prices and Michelin Star reputation, focusing solely on the food opted for a prefixed menu; my husband and I chose different menus to sample a variety. Regrettably, the meat was tough, the fish lacked flavor, and overall, the dishes suffered from a fundamental absence of a basic cooking ingredient salt.
Went for the pre-theatre dinner menu as a family of four and enjoyed the food and drinks immensely. Great experience (big props to the front of house ofc) for the price and we all agreed we would love to come back for the regular menu as well.
First class service and amazing food!
Expected a bit more from a place with a Michelin star. The food was nice, al a cart, so plenty of choice. However the service was a bit strange. Our starters arrived before we d finished the snack. Then the deserts arrived all together, which made the table very full and a bit cramped. It felt a bit rushed. The portion sizes were a bit big and came on several plates, but the food was tasty and enjoyable. One point for the management, the diner next to my table said they had a nut allergy and was then served peanuts. Which was a bit worrying as the customer had declared it to the same waiter. I d expect more care and attention to allergens following Natasha s Law being passed.
Delicious food and Vicky was amazing, so friendly and helpful. Would recommend 10/10 and we will be back.
Lovely lovely dinner before a West End show! Excellent service from Vicky - so attentive and personable! Food was top notch. Will return again
Super location, beautiful building, luxurious interior. Food was very good, particularly the rabbit ballotine and rice pudding. Cheese looked great but we were too full to try it. Super wine list, including several by the glass. Service professional but friendly. A proper restaurant for a special occasion.
Very Nice Bar
Well presented, tasty, great ingredients combination food. Helpful and extremely kind stuff. Would definitely go back just to have Vasiliki serving us!
We had a lovely dinner at Wild Honey inside Sofitel. Vicky was very attentive to our table and so kind to offer us a complimentary dessert for our anniversary. You must definitely get the Wild Honey ice cream with honeycomb
We spent a very expensive Christmas dinner sitting next to a Chinese family who had their 5 year old child rolling around on the floor, on the seats, on us, while listening full volume to cartoons on a cell phone. The staff saw this, the staff did nothing. Eventually near the end of a meal, what I assume is a manager saw what was going on and was horrified, he warned the family and offered us a change of table, but our meal was almost done at this point. 5 to 10 people saw what was going on and chose not to do anything. The child was literally on the floor rolling around, as children do. When I pay 1000$ for a fancy christmas meal, I expect better. The food was alright, nothing special. The decor was very nice. Kid-friendliness: VERY friendly to children. You can let your children roam free in this restaurant.
Loved it. Ask to be served by Viki, she is amazing.
We had a 5 course meal with wine pairing. Food was excellent, we loved the octopus as a starter, hallibut and rabbit were amazing and then the honey ice cream with madeleines is spectacular. The choice of wine was very interesting (Slovenia, Us and Portugal). The service was impeccable (Vicky was great to look after our table), we recommend this place.
YouTellSlow
Nice restaurant. Havent found itself yet.
Great food and service was good, we went following a treatment at the spa and had two courses each. The venison was gorgeous and the salad was very tasty. We went when it was quite quiet but I imagine the atmosphere is great when there are a few more diners. Overall great experience.
Fantastic lunch experience. Three courses over 1.5 hours. The fresh vegetables were fragrant and perfectly cooked. The service was excellent. The tart was a signature dessert dish but fell flat. Overall 9/10.
Tried the early dinner fixed menu, very tasty and good value. The starter and main are both amazing, but the dessert is quite average. The service is very good. Will come back to try other dishes!
Delicious and great service
Good place and delicious food and perfect service
We went to Wild Honey for their pre-theatre menu and had a wonderful time! We were served by Vicky who was brilliant - she was very friendly and knowledgeable (and recommended a great wine to go with our meal). The restaurant itself is beautiful and the food is delicious. We will be returning again soon!
Dinner: excellent food and lovely spacious room. Relaxed atmosphere. No tablecloth. The service was rather disappointing for a michelin star-restaurant... Our table was situated in a remote area on the side...disappointing too! Breakfast: correct. The bread and the pastries (croissant, apricot pastry) were stale and not crispy as they should have been.
I tried the lunch menu instead of a la carte as this is my first time here. I did my own wine pairing with sparkling and red for the bold menu, mackerel and venison. It s really to my surprise that the chef can maker these two protein to this level, showing his skills. If they can offer simpler wine paring with lunch menu, that will be even better.
The free nuts were a game changer
We had a great experience for an early dinner with my wife, for our birthdays. Food was great and Vasiliki did an amazing job serving us. We will be back soon, thank you!!
I recommend this place SO MUCH. This is why: 1. Service - The reception function is excellent. We arrived a little early and the nicest woman took us to the bar for a drink. The bartender was excellent. Our waiter was excellent. The time in between dishes was correct. 2. Food - It was truly delicious! The side cottage pie was just perfect. The only constructive feedback I have is that our icecream arrived a bit too melted. 3. The restaurant - It was beautiful, but the booths werent very clean. There was some dirty cutlery on the floor from some previous dinners, which was a bit much. Vegetarian options: They were a bit short on veggie options.
Located actually inside the gorgeous Sofitel st. James hotel, a beautiful restaurant with an amazing staff. We had the pre theatre menu which was delightful and more than enough to send us to the theater happy and satisfied
A bit disappointed unfortunately - on a Saturday night, the restaurant was half empty so the vibe was a bit off. Service was OK, they were attentive but slow and we didn t get to have our dessert before having to leave for the next scheduled event of the night (which we had told them that we had to go and asked if they could bring the dessert out but there must have been a miscommunication because they ended up just taking it off our bill). Food was good but not inspired, probably wouldn t go back.
Incredible. Th place, the good and the waitress Vicky was amazing.. I completely recommend. Gogogo
This experience exceeded expectations. The staff was friendly and the food was creative (and delicious). Vicky treated us extremely well! Would absolutely come back.
Yeah this is one of the best places in London, has a Michelin star
Unremarkable
Excellent food!
Great food and ambience, unfortunately the staff forgot about us for while, however, they were most apologetic and I would still go back and recommend.
Fabulous all round experience. Service and food were wonderful. We had the venison and halibut for main courses, cooked to perfection and so tasty. Special mention for Vicky. So friendly and attentive. Met the chef patron, Anthony, who was very warm and welcoming. Highly recommend.
Came for a business lunch. A strict and interesting environment. Polite and attentive staff. Good selection of wines. Just for our occasion, we ordered a carafe of wine. They brought hot appetizers from the chef. We chose duck with pork and venison from the menu for the main course. They refused dessert, but received a gift from the chef.
Welcoming and gentle staff. Nice atmosphere. The food was alright but not outstanding. We enjoyed some flavours, but the dishes lacked that wow factor that you can experience in Michelin Star. Its definitely a good meal and has potential in the ideas. Delicious honeycomb dessert. Special thanks to Louis and Marina. Recommended Vegetarian options: Yes Dietary restrictions: Yes Parking: Paid Kid-friendliness: Yes Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
Great restaurant! Food was delicious, we had the 3 course early supper. My favourite was the leeks and the rabbit. Would definitely come back and try more food. The staff were very friendly, a big thank you to Vicky for looking after us.
Dinner here was a amazing, we had the set pre theatre 3 course menu. The food was delicious and presented perfectly, all the staff were very helpful and provided expert service, Vikki was amazing she waited on our table and did a fantastic job.
Food are great but a bit pricy
Michelin star restaurant with top of the top service! Food: Brilliant! We opted for the 3 course set. There is a reason that this restaurant maintains a their Michelin star. Each dish had their own character and a story to tell. The ingredients were top level and the execution impeccable. Service: I had the pleasure to be served by Vasiliki during this special dinner for my wifes bday. This was by far the BEST service weve ever experienced in a Michelin star restaurant. Attentive, polite, fun! During our chat Vasiliki found out about my wifes bday and treated us with a special surprise bday dessert! Magnifique! Environment: Luxuriously warm, classy but comfortable, upbeat.
Had the pre-theatre menu. Good portions. The trout and ox tongue were amazing. The rabbit main was a bit on the dry side.
Giving a restaurant a name can be difficult here its easy as its starvis the honey. Not that thats the only star, thid restaurant has a choice of 2 lunch menu s a 49 and 79 gbp for 3 courses, worth every penny. Staff pay attention to customers, even offering me a newspaper as i was alone. The food exceptional, the crab starter excellent, allowing tge rich flavor of the crab to shine. Has sea bass as main, proving that a bood piece of fish and a good chef make for very good food. The dessert the wild honey icecream plus the extra s that cam ewith the coffee had ne adding a few thousand extra steps to burn it of ( and yes all that was for me) the honey comes from their own hive on the roof. All in all a very very good meal
Very tasty food, great service, and excellent value for a Michelin starred restaurant.
Food is lovely!
a great place, great decore, and actually the french food!
Had a wonderful dinner after seeing a show. Our server, Vicky was extremely friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and the ambience was beautiful. I highly recommend this place.
Went with my wife and my mother for the pre-theatre dinner menu. Food was excellent, particularly the cornish cod. We also ordered a bottle of white wine which was at just the perfect temperature. Services was friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was ellegant yet relaxed. Given the hour it was a bit empty but we had a great time. Would recommend a try given the great value for money.
Brilliant food, its always a question when a restaurant is in a hotel but wild honey is one of the best ones, good food, with fresh high grade ingredients, decent price too
Love the experience here. It s a big pricy but absolutely worth it.
Splendid food served with generosity and humour. Ive been 4 times in as many months and will go back soon.
Amazing working lunch three course. Had lunch here with two friends, the day before the coronation. Beautiful interior. Can be nice seating in circular tables but less so in tables for two as too close to the next table. The Christy ox tongue was amazing- huge portion. The rabbit was Beautiful- Almost like organic chicken, beautiful sauce: quite a heavy dish. The floating island amazing- light with vanilla sauce. Service was attentive and effective. Will be back soon- Perhaps when the menu changes.
Fantastic decor, service, ambience and most of all... food! The waiting staff are superb in their attention and would be a credit to any venue. The food was absolutely stunning and a perfect start to the evening out, pre-ballet
Nice
Good place if you have the money to spend, I thought I could get a standard menu but there was only an option for a pre-packaged menu at a cost of £85 The food was delicious, the best fish Ive eaten A bit expensive for the average pocket
Lovely lunch! Highly recommended!
Excellent food (including dessert) prepared well, and amazing service. Thank you for a great evening!
Our meal here was more of 3.5/5 but I cant give that star rating on here. I say that because although the food and service was both good, it did really lack something. No atmosphere, it didnt give me anything to want to tell people about or have to return at some point in the future. But as I say, if you are dining here then the staff are great and the food is nice so you wont have a bad meal. Just dont come for a special occasion.
A thoroughly enjoyable and high VFM set menu. A bit of a struggle to get the waiters attention which is frankly less than what Id expect at a Michelin starred venue. Food : 4/5
It s my first day ever visiting London today and wow, the rest of the trip has a lot to live up to. The food was incredible and the cocktail very tasty, but the main star of the show is the wonderful front of house team. Vicky went above and beyond to make sure I was having an enjoyable experience, and every other staff member was incredibly friendly! Next time I come to England, I ll absolutely be back!
While we have no quibbles with the food, I agree with the other reviews that something wasn t quite right from a Michelin star restaurant. The service was very forgetful and sometimes ignored us. It was a good experience though and as I said the food was very nice. Especially loved the honey dessert!
Since its a Michelin restaurant, I was nervous about the dress code when I entered the restaurant. The customer service is solid, but I was able to talk to them in a very friendly manner, and was able to relax and enjoy a delicious meal. I didnt know much about wine, so I asked for a wine that would go well with the dish, but he recommended a reasonably priced wine that would go well with the lamb.
Very nice place, with extremely delicious food.
Lovely staff & very good food!
Slow service and disappointing menu. When I booked this, I didnt expect a lunch for two people from their Working Lunch three course menu would take nearly 2 full hours. A gentleman sat down and ordered off the à la carte menu, would get all his food in the short time between our second and third courses. The macrel dish was incredibly fishy and didnt finish well with the onions. The side dish to the cod was under seasoned and ate dry with the large beans. The cheese filled pasta was good but a bit more plain than expected. The high point of the meal were the deserts and saved the rating. The Gypsy Tarte was much more balanced than expected and ate beautifully with the creme. The strawberry creme pastry was flaky and delicious. The pigs head appatizer was beautiful and carried the notes of a southern bbq pork sandwich. Maybe recommendations or feedback by the staff would have saved the meal? Their last lunch menu on their website was from January and was not the same menu we ate off of. When I went to pay, and didnt leave a tip on the machine (because I left a £20 note on the table and they didnt know), I was asked what was wrong. It seemed a bit forward, especially when lunch took 2 hours.
A very grand hotel restaurant. We went on a Sunday afternoon. Half the restaurant was and we were sat in a clump as you went in, far too close to other tables, meaning we had no choice in being a part of other people s conversation. The food was very tasty but very basic. Cold butter and dry bed. Service was clunky. Dinner is probably much much nicer than lunch!
Nestled within the Sofitel London St James Hotel, Wild Honey presents an atmosphere of grandeur combined with comfort and has the honour of boasting a MICHELIN Star. Chef Anthony Demetre focuses on flavour rather than pretentious presentation, complementing the overall vibe of the restaurant beautifully. However, there was some inconsistency with certain dishes meeting the MICHELIN Star standard while others fell somewhat short. The service, while gracious and courteous, was slow as we found ourselves spending three hours on a three-course meal. Despite this, portion sizes were impressively generous for a Michelin-starred restaurant, making sure you feel satiated between each course. Tip: Make your booking through The Fork to get a complimentary alcoholic drink (Negroni or champagne) with your £79 3 course set menu! Our meal started with an array of three amuse-bouche. The aubergine tart and lightly grilled cheese cube stood out, but the third was reminiscent of a McDonald s Filet o Fish, which was less impressive. The Dorset Crab appetiser provided a tropical twist to the traditional seafood dish by adding Alphonso mango to chawanmushi of the brown crab. While a bit of fusion confusion, the flavours were delightful and there was an ample amount of white claw meat. The accompanying crab pate toast sandwich was a hit! The Isle of Orkney Hand Dived Scallop was succulent and perfectly seared. Coupled with spring peas, broad beans, and miso sabayon, this dish offered a satisfying blend of texture and flavour. Slow-Cooked Veal Shin was served in an unconventional manner but the veal shin itself was spectacularly juicy, tender, and packed with savoury flavours. Served with a smooth, velvety sauce, this dish proved to be a delightful sensory experience. The Denbighshire Rack of Lamb was tender and lightly flavourful without an overpowering gamey taste. However, it could have used better temperature control and a richer flavour profile. The Classic Crisp Choux Bun was pleasant, but not particularly outstanding. However, the Wild Honey Ice Cream was the grand finale, featuring Bermondsey honey taken straight from the raw honeycomb wall and served with warm honey alongside the softest and fluffiest lemon madeleine. This dessert rounded off the meal perfectly. Full review @jagglet on Instagram
This is a great place to visit! Im always glad to be here. Here you can enjoy delicious food and relax in a cozy atmosphere. Dishes for every taste. wonderful music.
In one word - great!!!!!!!! Went to this place as a group of four to celebrate my wifes birthday.
I had a wonderful time there. The food portions are way bigger than I expected. The food is delicate and delicious. I think I really enjoy the duck appetizer and flan dessert. Shoutout to our server Vikki for being so wonderful all evening. I recommend people to try this if you are in the area.
I had the 3 course lunch menu. I said I wouldnt drink because it was daytime, but they repeatedly asked 4 times, and it felt like it was my fault for not ordering a drink. Course 2 out of 3 courses was over, but there was an absurd incident where they were suddenly given a menu and asked to order. After the explanation, I received the dessert 20 minutes later. A dressed up white waiter asked if we needed more bread. I said yes, but he never came back. Moreover, when he asked to bring the bill, he said he would, but he completely ignored it and didnt come. I met him on the way out, but he didnt say hello at all. Am I being forced? Is it irrational? Is this really the service of a Michelin-starred restaurant?
Attention to Dietary Restrictions The restaurant was accommodating to dietary restrictions, offering options for vegetarians, vegans, or those with good food.
Wonderful experience for a special birthday lunch! Classic French cuisine with a twist and warm friendly service. It was especially memorable to have a good chat with chef Anthony Demetre
We dined at Wild Honey before seeing a West End show, it was the perfect location for a preshow meal. Our service was excellent and we both had the prefixed early dinner menu. The portions were filling and the section was nice since my husband prefers meat and I lean more towards veggies and there was something for both of us. You get the Michelin Star quality food without all the faff of fine dinning.
Amazing food and service (5/5). The food is worth the money (5/5) Regarding wine, there is still room of improvement for quality and choice (4/5 for wine) Food : 5/5
Amazing staff and chef is phenomenal
Great early supper menu in terms of value. Food is good, though lacking creativity in terms of taste while having in mind it is a Michelin Star restaurant.
A cozy gastropub with a welcoming ambiance. The menu featured elevated pub classics with a gourmet twist. The craft beers on tap and friendly staff made it a great spot for casual dining and socializing.
Wild Honey at St James is a perfect place for a special evening (our occasion was celebrating getting married, which was very kindly picked up by the team and we were surprised by a lovely plate of petit fours!) The atmosphere is excellent, and all of the staff, but especially Vicki made our evening, she was very thoughtful and really made us feel special. We came for the early sitting with a 3-course dinner, which was impeccable! The lamb shoulder especially, but the mackerel broth was brilliant too. I for one can t wait to come back for the next anniversary!
Amazing food!
Had a lovely early dinner here, the food was delicious. Good size portions, fresh, and an interesting take on European classics. Staff were lovely and helpful, very attentive. We were looked after well by Vicky who made sure everything was great and was very friendly. On top of that the prices were reasonable. Would definitely come here again!
Gorgeous food. Lovely venue
My wife and I enjoyed a set menu before we went to a show at a nearby theater. The food and service was excellent with no complaints from us.
Amazing experience from start to finish. My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here and I couldn t be more pleased. Entire waitstaff went above and beyond. Especially our server (Louange)!!! 10/10 highly highly recommended. New favorite restaurant in London!
£70 for 3 course meal at a Michelin star restaurant alone bumped it up to 4 star. Very good attentive knowledgeable staff and good creative technique especially with the rabbit dish !!!
Great restaurant! The pre-theatre set is great value for money. The a la carte menu is also excellent.
The food was exquisitely prepared and delicious. One of our favorite Michelin dinners in London. (Note that this is a hotel restaurant so a number of reviews are actually about their brunch or lunch, which I imagine is very different than a tasting menu dinner.)
The food here is up to par for a michelin. But the service was just awful. We spent the majority of our time with an empty plate and empty glasses. We waited for 15 minutes after we ordered a glass of wine, and had to ask two different servers who brought the wine 5 minutes later. We had 4 different servers throughout the night, completely disorganized. I am surprised the restaurant has a michelin, the food is there for a 1 star, but the service is not. Finally, the atmosphere, it s like any high end hotel dining area, nothing special. Again the food was great and worthy of a star but michelin usually ties with an expectation of experience. This was an expensive dinner with good food and extraordinarily slow service. We practically had to beg to order drinks and food.
Came here for my beautiful cousins wedding. Absolutely lovely establishment, lovely staff who made us feel very welcome, food was amazing and overall an amazing day. Kid-friendliness: Accommodated my children no problem
What a wonderful dining experience. The flavors and presentation of the meal definitely earned this Michelin star. I have eaten all over the world and this place became one of my favourites. The restaurant is beautiful and has a great ambiance. One of my favourite parts of the experience was our server Vicki (and Panos too), whose relaxed but attentive service made the evening one that we will not soon forget. Thanks again. Dietary restrictions: I am gluten free and they were so accommodating.
Glorious! I was very fortunate that the team made room for my family and friends. The food was delicious, the wine was superb and the service was exceptional. I was fortunate to speak with Chef Anthony Demetre, and it is clear his passion and warm welcoming attitude flows through the team. There is a clear spirit of - what can we do to make our guests happy, rather than making them conform to the restaurant. I have only received service like I experienced tonight at restaurants where I am a regular. Big thank you to the team.
Myself (meat eater) and my girlfriend (vegetarian) food the atmosphere too be fantastic as well a the service and the friendliness of the staff. The food was well presented and served, especially the honey from the honeycomb. The food we both felt wasnt tasty as we thought it was going to be. The recommended wine was top notch though!! Vegetarian options: Limited choices.
Had the pre-theatre menu. Superb value for a Michelin Starred meal. Food was very good. Mackerel Bouillon to start was one of the best dishes Ive eaten all year. Menu choice limited on the Pre-Theatre menu. Was 3 choices per course up until a couple of weeks ago when they changed it to 2 choices per course. Nonetheless, all dishes we had were of a high standard.
We had a wonderful early dinner here for my birthday. Our server Vicky was brilliant - gave great recommendations and took care of us the whole evening. Wonderful place for a special occasion.
Excellent experience! Delicious food, top-notch service.
Came here as a birthday celebration and did the 3 course menu. Staff can be a little too pushy where you don t get privacy. You can also meet the chef.
Wonderful evening. Our waitress Vicky was welcoming, attentive and knowledgeable. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious (sizeable portions) and we were able to take our left over dessert home in a lovey gift box. Very good wine list. Would recommend.
Came here following the Michelin guide. Pleasantly impressed with the service! The staff is very pleasant and welcoming! Everything was very delicious and exquisite. Waitress Viki is incredible! We will recommend it to everyone.
Great food and service. My current favorite in London.
Had their pre-theatre menu. There were nothing special about the dishes served - veggies accompanied mackarel was extremely bitter, I couldn t even eat. Only dessert was satisfying considering Wild Honey as a michelin starred restaurant.
Having walked by many times, I finally booked for lunch and what a find. A little nugget of joy in the heart of London. The food was superb if petite portions, such a good lunchtime choices shout out for the Paris brest. Definitely will return. Also good attentive discreet service over our long ladies lunch. Vegetarian options: Salad with the most delicious dressing and pasta dish that melts in the mouth
I had a lovely meal with my boyfriend at Wild Honey. The staff were fantastic, really attentive and friendly. Vicky was a superb waitress. She made us feel special and made a huge effort to look after us. The food was amazing, I d highly recommend the rabbit. Thank you for the great evening Wild Honey
Thank you so much for the marvelous hospitality, exemplary service, and outstanding kindness you showed to me and my wife on our recent visit to London. The pleasure of meeting a passionate chef with such great respect for his ingredients, creativity, and understanding of how food is presented and composed is humbling. Your ability to use all of each ingredient completely in your dish without wasting any aspect of it was amazing. While we believed our meal with you was the best we had during our three week journey through Great Britain visiting five other Michelin star chefs, it is more than that because of your gracious hospitality and friendliness. The feeling of being comfortable in your restaurant is immeasurable. Thank you for an experience which we will treasure and a forever memory. We are grateful.
My Wife and I had a lovely evening at Wild Honey. The food was amazing - complement to the chef and the team in the kitchen - and just as important as the food in order to have a good time in a Restaurant is the service. Here Vicky and her colleagues did a wonderful job and ensured us an evening to remember. We will come back!
Great team, and very good advices concerning the dishes and the pairings! Definitely worth the price
Great service from Vicky, it really made the evening perfect. Delicious food and wine. And great atmosphere. Would definitely come again
We had lunch there and it was delicious. We enjoyed the use of seasonal ingredients and well balanced dishes.
The best place ever! I have a lot of dietary restrictions. I have travelled all over the world and it has been very disappointing that no matter where and how great of the restaurant, I end up with the vegetable from a steak plate or a mediocre risotto. Well, let me tell you, this was not the case at Wild Honey St James. The staff were amazing. Chef Anthony himself came to see me ensuring that he understood my restrictions and prepared an amazing one of the kind menu for me on the spot. Everything was well thought and well prepared. He even presented them to me himself. I cannot say enough, the experience was incredible! If you ever wanted a MICHELIN started resturant to try, this is definitely on top of the list. thank you chef Anthony for making our special occasion, even more special!
Decent food, very service focused (though inconsistent across tables and very.much focused on topping off the water as the success criterion)... Ok atmosphere... When you think about the Michelin star though, underwhelming.... Also perhaps they do this more for Americans, they include a significant tip and a pound for a charity.. it simply did not feel right. I was going to tip more than that anyway, but this practice left a bad taste..
Wild Honey St James: A Culinary Gem in Londons Heart Stepping into Wild Honey St James, nestled amidst the vibrant bustle of Londons St. Jamess district, is like stepping into a haven of culinary delight and refined elegance. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, a seamless blend of classic charm and modern sensibilities. The décor is opulent yet understated, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The friendly and knowledgeable staff at Wild Honey St James epitomizes the epitome of attentiveness and expertise. They are well-versed in the intricacies of the menu, guiding guests through their culinary journey with expert recommendations and insightful commentary. Their genuine warmth and genuine enthusiasm for the cuisine add an extra layer of delight to the dining experience. Wild Honeys three-course prix fixe menu is a culinary adventure that tantalizes the senses and delights the palate. Each dish is a testament to Chef Anthony Demetres unwavering commitment to seasonal ingredients and impeccable technique. The presentations are visually stunning, meticulously crafted with an artists attention to detail. My personal favorites included the delectable beef pie, a symphony of flavors and textures encased in a golden crust. The filling was a rich and savory blend of tender beef, aromatic herbs, and melt-in-your-mouth vegetables. It was a true comfort food classic, elevated to new heights of culinary excellence. For dessert, the Congolese chocolate dessert was a revelation. This decadent creation was a rich and dark chocolate experience, infused with the vibrant flavors of Africa. The texture was smooth and velvety, melting in the mouth like a dream. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable meal. In conclusion, Wild Honey St James is more than just a restaurant; it is an immersive culinary adventure that elevates dining to an art form. The combination of its refined ambiance, impeccable service, and exquisite cuisine makes it a must-visit destination for discerning diners seeking an unforgettable dining experience in London.
Probably the best pre-theatre dining option in the area: 5-6.30pm. Impeccable service, food presentation and amazing value. Kid-friendliness: Not for kids.
Vicky was an amazing server! She was able to recommend a set of courses and drinks that would all play nicely together. The ricotta gnudi with truffles is definitely worth the extra charge. If you go, definitely get a glass of their house-made vermouth!
We had a lovely meal here for my girlfriend s birthday! The staff was fantastic, especially our server Vicky. I would definitely recommend it for any special occasion!
Fancy grown up cocktail bar. Really makes you feel special. The ice cubes are very fancy. Crystal clear, with their name in.
We did the set menu prior to visiting the theatre, and it just wasn t what I expected from a Michelin star restaurant. The appetizer was quite fatty and didn t have much flavour beyond that. The main was good, but again, you just expect a lot more from a place like this. Personally, I wouldn t go again
Food delicious and a decent wine list, but it s really the service that warrants this place a star. Engaging and attentive in the most personable way. Our waiter Vicky has a talent for hospitality that can t be taught - thank you so much for making a very special evening for my dad s birthday!
Starter was a little under seasoned Bararta and sardines.Sea bream was at best average skin was not crispy and stalk of a herb was left in dish I thought it was a bone from fish The rabbit was very good full of flavour the dessert was excellent. Waiter tried to take plate while other people were still eating I hate that when you go to a restaurant. The manager noticed the problem s and apologised offered a glass of dessert wine which was delicious overall left a bit underwhelmed
Wonderful place, especially for an occasion. The staff were enthusiastic and friendly and made the night special. Food was delicious. Will certainly return.
We were very disappointed by the food which was surprising given the reviews and Michelin star. The atmosphere is lovely and the service was very good (although we had to wait 15 min for our table - nothing offered while we waited). They had run out of two options on the menu, one of which i had wanted to order, and also had no draft beer as the tap was broken for several days. The beef main had a significant amount of fat that had not been rendered down, and the side dish was too rich as an accompaniment. Very disappointing for a highly rated and expensive restaurant, we found it very hard to believe it had a Michelin star.
A good restaurant with friendly service. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian dishes are offered.
I had a great experience at Wild Honey. I went their for a team dinner with my company, their made a bespoke menu for us based on the dietary requirements we provided. The service was impeccable. The food was absolutely delicious and, although it was only a 3-course menu (other Michelin star restaurants offer 5 or 7 course menus) I definitely left feeling full and happy.
Sadly we found the food average given the price point (and this was the pre theatre menu!). Glad we went as we had been wanting to go for a while but won t come back. The venison was perfectly cooked and I didn t think that was something I d ever eat but it was very good. The fish was tiny and not particularly tasty. The wine menu by the glass didn t have many choices unfortunately and those that were on it (we tried a few) weren t great. The burrata was really plain. The service however, was impeccable and the ambience of the restaurant is special and really cosy.
Very high end service and food. Would recommend to anyone wishing to treat themselves.
Nice pre-theatre menu in a beautiful restaurant that also feels relaxed in a good way. Desserts and mains were especially good
The food and the facilities are perfect! Very welcoming stuff! I d like to point out Viki (Vasiliki) whose service was amazing with a great smile and always attentive!
Depends on whether you are going for the ambient or food....
Surprised to learn that this has one Michelin star after tryinf their tasting menu. The food is a Bib Gourmand at best. Ambience is nothing special. Cocktails were great though.
All in all not worth a Michelin star On Saturday evening, 3 December 2022, we visited the restaurant Wild Honey in London. We were specifically looking for a Michelin star restaurant because we very often want to eat at the highest level. When we entered the restaurant, we were a bit negatively surprised. Its true that the interior is very spacious with lots of room and ceiling height, and the furniture is also colour-coordinated tone-in-tone. But the seating is not pleasant: on one side there are armchairs and on the other side very long benches with many different people sitting at the same time who dont know each other and on the same bench! Quite uncomfortable, like being in a waiting room at a train station. When I asked for the menu, all I saw was a three-course menu for £75. On the restaurants website on the same day, a nine-course menu was offered for £110. When I asked if I could have this menu, the waitress said that they had not offered this menu for 14 days because of the Christmas business. Needless to say, we were surprisedthat a menu was offered on the website but not in the restaurant. This is not appropriate. The three-course menu mentioned did not meet our strict requirements. Not a single amuse bouche, rather simple dishes like a mini portion of maccheroni and the others were also very small portions. With a nine-course meal this would be totally understandable, but with a three-course meal the courses could be a bit bigger, otherwise youre still hungry after the meal. My partner had ordered a Welsh lamb chop. It was a single miniature chop and had about 80% fat, so we complained about it. Within no time a replacement arrived, which was impeccable in terms of quality and preparation. The chef knows his craft, but the overall ambience is absolutely unsatisfactory for a Michelin-starred restaurant. There are no tablecloths on the tables, the crockery and cutlery is of the simplest quality and the glasses could have come from the cheapest discount store. Simply everything is loveless and without style. The waitress was friendly, but not worthy of a star restaurant. No sooner did she want to take the order than she came back a minute and a half later and gave us almost no time several times, she was a bit pushy. In gourmet restaurants, another waiter always comes to ask. Its much more discreet. During the meal there was suddenly a loud noise in the background near the entrance. Everyone turned their heads to see what had happened, if perhaps a chandelier had fallen from the ceiling. It turned out to be a flower vase that had been used as an umbrella stand and had fallen over in the coat closet. The same thing happened again later when we went to get our coats from the wardrobe as we were leaving the restaurant. Thats just totally unprofessional to put a vase of flowers in a coat rack as an umbrella stand and have it fall over twice in the same evening with great fanfare. The restaurant manager just doesnt quite have a handle on this restaurant. Overall, we found the restaurant to be completely overpriced from a value for money perspective. We are only sensitive about going to restaurants when we feel that the price is not justified. We are prepared to pay a lot of money for a nice ambience, for good cuisine and service. We cannot recommend this restaurant.
Got lucky to see this set menu for lunch on my way looking for a lunch place... I felt it was a good setting to have my bday lunch.. Posh, nice atmosphere.. I ordered, buratta and fish, and to close off some camembert cheese... Food was good and I just felt that portions could have been bigger but I should not complain for 35 pounds for a 3 course meal
Having been in its previous location (also Mayfair) for 10+ years, moved to current address since 2019. New location gave a slightly different vibe, little more contemporary but same amazing food. A pleasant fine dining experience, everything felt just right. Highly recommend
We had the most amazing experience at Wild Honey. We went there to celebrate my partners birthday, and took our children for their first Michelin-start dining experience. They were so excited, and the food and atmosphere and service was beyond expectations!! Our server Vicky was really great, friendly and attentive. Thank you so much , this was an absolutely fantastic evening for our family!!
Incredible food and service. The pre-theatre menu is such great value and is really a treat pre (or post) show. Vicky our waitress made us feel most welcome - would highly recommend to anyone visiting the West End!
