Diners eat in the dark, served by blind waiters, from fish, meat and vegetarian surprise menus.
A really amazing, yet emotional experience. The food is glorious, and the waiting staff, all I say is that they are absolutely amazing. What a fantastic evening
We had such a lovely time. It’s a unique experience, and to be in the environment with those that live life in darkness feels very special as you are experiencing what they do. It’s a great idea and the staff are truly lovely, forgive me if the spelling is wrong, but Aaliah was just so wonderful, fun and friendly. You NEVER get service like this in a regular restaurant from staff, she was just so fun and helpful and understanding. The food was great, and what’s nice is that you don’t know what you are eating, so it’s a conversation point to try and guess what you are eating and then the reveal downstairs after is great, to see how good you know your food. A wonderful experience and a great team.
An excellent place to come together as a team. Dining in complete darkness, with blind or partially sighted waitresses guiding us, was a truly humbling experience. It allowed us to build strong trust and connection with one another as we navigated the meal. It was fascinating to discover how our other senses took over, enabling us to help ourselves and each other. Our waitress was outstanding, seamlessly guiding us through each stage of the meal. We are truly grateful for this unforgettable experience.
Really enjoyed my visit to Dans Le Noir. The experience was really incredible. Learning to eat, drink and pour water in the dark made you more aware of your actions and slowed down the meal. The food was great and I had a lot of fun trying to guess what we were eating. Service was great from Michael. I would highly recommend people to come visit. It is great for special occasions
The experience is unique! It's wonderful to experience what visually impaired people do every day. For a moment you switch sides and have them guide you entirely into a word they are familiar with. The food itself is average. I would have enjoyed something more uncommon or harder to guess. Michael, our waiter was more than exceptional! He makes you feel completely comfortable and protected, so polite and willing to go the extra mile. Service downstairs could improve, they were a bit slow and not the kindest. They also forgot to remove the digital watch of our neighbours, which certainly impacted the experience.
One of the best experiences I’ve ever done! No form of light is allowed into the dining area so they take your phone etc. & place it into a locker. I love the concept of this restaurant so much & I had one of the best conversations ever because you literally can’t do anything else having no phone or anything, super refreshing! The staff are all amazing & the food was actually really good. They accidentally broke my sunglasses & knocked the price off the bill, you can’t be mad at that! A super unique 11/10 experience - do it!
A completely different experience & very humbled with the experience. How it felt to be blind for a couple hours, eating food and drinking while trying to figure out what I was eating with people on other tables chatting away. Your phones & any smart devices that give light are taken away and stored in a safe locker on arrival and you’re seated to have a drink before the experience begins. Personally I loved the experience as was worth every penny of it. Polite staff all round. Such a dope experience in my eyes & i would and will definitely be trying it again. I spent around £180 something as we went for the 3 course meal chefs surprise & a few glasses of wine. The food was I say 3/5, it wasn’t crazy delicious. Starter and desert for me was the best, main was good. We all know wine boosts up everything. Thank you again for this humbling experience.
Great atmosphere and service, food was average. You’re welcomed to a bar area where you wait to be lead to the restaurant. Once upstairs, you’re carefully led inside a pitch black room and to your seat, by a waitress. Interesting experience trying to guess what you’re eating - definitely very alien and unsettling for the first few moments. But once settled, your senses are definitely heightened! Quite a short meal, as felt rushed to leave when we weren’t done yet, would have been nice to have stayed in the restaurant slightly longer.
Thankyou for an amazing eveing and especially to Michael who was well what can I say looked after as so well it was an experience I will never forget and to appreciate that we have our sight. The food was stunning and you could taste everything in a different way. Definitely be back
A strange but fascinating experience. I recommend you try it at least once. Once you take a seat and settle into the darkness, the rest of your senses naturally heighten, and the food was delicious whether that helped or not. Our server Katie was kind and super impressive, and Iliyan and Ivayla were wonderful hosts. We had a great chat and learned more about how the concept came about.
Great experience, good food
Had a fantastic dinner, the food was delicious and the experience was truly interesting. Served by Ghow who was lovely and very helpful! Vegetarian options: Vegan menu option
What a once in a lifetime experience
Really great and funny experience. The food and service were great. Thanks a lot to Ghow whos been so nice to us ! Just a little bit too noisy in the restaurant (we were close to the kitchen I think and the guests spoke very loudly) Food
5 of us had the pleasure of visiting on Saturday night. From start to finish everything was brilliant. Our waitress was amazing, she even treated us to a couple of songs as she is studying music. It is truly an unforgettable experience, we will all be visiting again along with more friends.
What an amazing experience! First it is a bit frightening to realise you just don t see anything but once you let fully the experience take place it s great. Great food, good and very helpful service & we felt very comfortable!
Excellent pre-dinner cocktails, we recommend! The meal itself was quite an experience. We had the 5 course Chefs menu, and while it had fairly safe options, they were all delicious. We had a lot of fun trying to work out what we were eating! Getting to the table was the scariest part because you are acclimatising, but the servers keep you safe and help every step of the way. They explain where everything is, and then aside from bringing food, they leave you to enjoy the experience, while always remaining within earshot. Making sure your plate is empty of all the yummy food is the hardest part! I definitely recommend. Vegetarian options: There is a full vegan/vegetarian menu alongside the meat options Dietary restrictions: They make sure to take any dietary restrictions in advance to ensure your food is safe for you Parking: Didnt look like there was any parking, but its really close to Farringdon Tube as well as others. Kid-friendliness: They serve from 6 years up
Definitely an experience, good food, cant see it, but you start focusing on the taste and noises around you. Its fascinating how much of our experience of the world comes from the visual domain, while we let our other senses be secondary most of the time
What a fab experience! We came for our work Xmas meal and had a lovely time! Its a crazy experience dining completely in the dark but worth it. We had the surprise chef menu and every course was amazing! It was a bit loud in the room when we first arrived which is a bit disorientating but by the end we were the only ones left (table was at 8.30) so you could then hear the background music.. big shout out to the staff especially our waiter Guillem who did a fab job. Highly recommend!
It was really lovely, waiter Michael was super attentive for extra needs. Super impressed. Food was fabulous, super tasty and was put together in a way that you could try to guess the individual components.
We came here last month as a Father s Day gift and honestly we had the best time! The food was amazing, beautifully cooked and great portion sizes too, I would love to tell you more but the mystery is part of the fun! As for the atmosphere it s an experience like no other we had the best hospitality Ghow took great care of us guiding us into the room and serving us - being in the pitch black really enhances your taste but most importantly makes everyone so much more social. I ve never talked, discussed and laughed so much with my family on a night out before Thank you once again for everything Ghow! We ve already recommended this to friends and family and look forward to experiencing again!
Incredible experience, the food was great, we had the surprise menu and it was fun to guess what we were tasting. A great combination of delicate flavours. The staff was great and our waiter lovely. I highly recommend it to everyone :) Food
Such a unique and humbling experience. Opportunity to have a fun time with friends while enjoying delicious food and an awesome service. Our waiter Ghow was so kind and welcoming. Would recommend this to anyone who s never tried it before, and would do it again 100%.
This was an amazing experience! And Ina our waitress was so kind and helpful thank you! Will definitely come back again!
Brilliant experience, would highly recommend. Tasty food and lovely service made for a great evening
Had a really unique and interesting lunch. Was looked after by the lovely Havsa. Highly recommend for the experience as it gives you a whole new appreciation for the lives and worlds of people with blindness. Food was better than we had expected it to be - sorry for spilling the water! Hehe
Such a cool experience that forces you to reflect on the role sight plays in our experience of the world ! I recommend to everyone!! Our server roberto was brilliant!
This is by far the most unusual dining experience Ive ever had. On arrival, our watches, phones and personal items were collected and safely stored in a locker; and the kept passed to me. We were invited to order a drink from the bar. There is a great selection to choose from!!! When your table is ready, you are taken upstairs to the restaurant. I totally over thought my expectations of the restaurant, and was quite nervous. The entire event was well executed. The food was delicious and it felt like a privilege to see rummages and information about what we had eaten after the meal was over. I was surprised about how manageable using a knife and fork was! Drinks are poured into shoet tumblers to minimise the risk of knocking them over. We quickly adapted to pouring water from the bottle in the middle of our table too. We opted for a 5 course meal with 2 wines. As each course arrived, you smelt the food before it was placed on the table. We had great fun guessing what we were eating. Courtney our waitress was fabulous!! She was an incredibly helpful and made our whole stay so comfortable! Highly Recommend!
Really fun and unique experience, our waiter Ghow was fantastic. Thank you
Such a fun experience! Highly recommend for something a bit different & unique. Our waiter Ghow was so lovely and friendly & provided us with great service! Food was decent & well cooked but obviously it s a surprise menu so things might not be to your exact tastes but that s part of the experience.
Our experience at Dans Le Noir, was incredible, good food and even better service. Our waiter Gau was just fantastic, he was warm, welcoming, provided great service and it was really topped off by his humour. Eating in the pitch black was a unique, humbling and memorable experience.
For the sake of experience, it was unique and unforgettable. But wouldnt go back as the price was way too high for the food you get. Ill rate the food 3/5. The starter was way better than the main. We ordered the two course menu for two people and had a couple of Negronies each and paid £156. Fabio, our guide was fantastic with a great sense of humour. I would rate him 5/5. For us it was even more surprising as we had no idea about the dark dinning cause we didnt check the restaurant details and thought we are just going to have some dinner! Anyway, worth to go once for the experience. Have no pictures to share as gave my phone at the entrance. Could have had it at least while we were drinking before the meal. Its London. Full of surprises. And thats why we like it.
What a disappointment. We came here several times over the last few years and it s just gone downhill. What was a luxury dining experience, encouraging you to guess what you were eating, is now cheap and cheerful roast dinner that happens to be dark. Staff were badly trained and didn t seem to care about the experience. Food was dry and dull, each of our was very large and not optimised to be eaten without sight, large pieces of dry fish and chicken. So sad. Not at all what it once was
My dad and I went to celebrate his birthday. It was an incredible experience! Our waiter, Ghow, made us feel at ease and it turns out its very relaxing to eat in the dark (we both realised we had our eyes closed for a lot of the meal as there wasnt much point having them open). It was really interesting trying to guess what the food was (we got the meat completely wrong) and I would also thoroughly recommend having a glass of wine as your sense of smell is much better when you cant see! The food is good and there are interesting textures that you notice more in the dark - as other people have commented, I wouldnt say it was the best meal I have ever eaten, but thats not really the point; I would say it is more about the experience, and they were really good at catering to my specific dietary requirements. Ghow even got the whole restaurant to sing happy birthday for my dad, which was a lovely way to end the meal - it is very surreal to suddenly have dozens of strangers you cant see singing happy birthday all around you! Dietary restrictions: I cant eat onion or garlic which is really specific and annoying, but they had no issues catering for me.
H was brilliant. At first, I panicked because the entrance to the dinner was pitch black and Mt anxiety kicked in but she helped and guided me and my partner and in the end had a amazing time for my late birthday present
Would highly recommend this restaurant. A completely unique experience and one that everyone should try. An evening in pitch black where you as the customer get a real insight as to what it is like to navigate life visually impaired. The food was very good but the service was exceptional, they cater well towards allergies and make you feel very at home in what can be a little strange when you first walk in. Ghow was our waiter and he made the experience fantastic for us. I ve come away from this dinner with a new level of respect and appreciation not only for my sight but for visually impaired people.
A truly remarkable experience from start to finish. Our server, Katie, was so brilliant and made our already great experience even more special. I would recommend that everyone give this unique dining experience a try. You won t regret it! Vegetarian options: Set menus have a vegan option. All courses were superb (and a total surprise!)
Its pitch black. This is my second time and Ill still be amazed about how dark it is. Food was lovely, we went for the surprise menu paired with a wine. Staff were great, our waitress was excellent. Would definitely recommend.
Loved the experience would definitely recommend
Ghow at Dans Le Noir made our dining experience in the dark truly memorable. He was friendly, helpful, and fun to chat with, making us feel comfortable and at ease throughout the meal. His engaging personality added a special touch to the unique experience. Highly recommend!
Really good Experience food was delicious and service was really good
In London, we went to the restaurant Dans le Noir? Inside, its pitch dark, and guests arent told in advance what theyll be served. Not being able to see the food makes quite a difference, and we had a hard time figuring out what was on our plates, although not completely. To avoid spoiling the experience for you, I wont reveal what we had we got to see pictures of the food at the end. I absolutely recommend this place, not least to gain insight into the challenges that blind people face and hopefully to develop more empathy.
Brilliant experience! Gar, our server, was such a great host. Made the experience so enjoyable, although I must say the food could be better. For what theyre charging id expect a lot more, but Id still recommend this as an experience 100%
I would describe this as an experience with food rather than a meal. The food is average at best. The fun part is guessing what you might be eating rather than the flavour being anything to write home about. I had hoped the loss of sight would increase the senses like taste but instead my only heightened sense was hearing. It was one of the loudest dining rooms I have ever encountered. Which combined with the darkness (an impressive level of pitch black with absolutely no hint of light) leaves you feeling somewhat claustrophobic. The most impressive part of the whole thing is the waiting staff. How they do their jobs is incredible. Certainly a novel experience but an expensive one for what it is.
This was an amazing experience from start to finish. The food was wonderful and the service was great - especially our server Roberto!
Exciting concept but a very unpleasant experience overall. This was primarily because (1) the venue is very loud, (2) you are sat next to strangers, (3) service feels incredibly rushed, and (4) food is mid. Practically, Im not sure whether they could adapt the venue to be more spaced out. Perhaps there is a solution where the other room is also used as restaurant space to space out the tables, alongside sending pictures of what we ate electronically, as well as paying on the way out. Very disappointed to have paid so much money when the execution of the concept is like this. Its too much money to pay when its so cramped and loud. Youd at least expect your own small table. I think management are fully aware of the limitations but havent made progress on improvements, possibly due to the practical difficulties given the concept and their venue?
An experience that anyone should have at least once in their life. We thank all the staff who were tireless in helping us, in what was so difficult for us and for many is part of everyday life.
Unique and delicious experience. Was not sure what to expect as it was a gift but we both had a fantastic time. It was definitely dark but Roberto was a great server and kept checking in on us. It was lovely to chat with people on our table and never felt they were too close. Food was outstanding even though I had to feel where it was and had no idea what I was eating! It was nice to see the menu afterwards and quite a surprise to find out. All the staff were welcoming and helpful. Would recommend to do this at least once. Vegetarian options: Have a separate menu Dietary restrictions: I made a note when booking and this was followed up before we went in the dining room.
Nice food and Best service Genuinely recommend everyone to experience it once Food
Michael was a legend!
I recently dined at Dans le Noir, and while the experience was unique, it didn t meet my expectations. The concept of eating in complete darkness is intriguing and offers a different perspective on dining. However, I found that the novelty wore off quickly. Our waitress, Mandel, was a standout. She was attentive, friendly, and made the experience more enjoyable with her warm demeanor definitely deserving of a five-star rating. That said, eating in darkness can be quite disorienting, and I can see how it might cause anxiety for some guests. While it s an interesting experience to try at least once, I wouldn t recommend it for everyone, especially given the high price. Overall, I enjoyed the experience, but I wasnt particularly impressed and likely wont return.
While the welcome was decent enough and our waiter Nilesh was lovely the food we were served, particularly the main course, was atrocious. Im still feeling queasy. The surprise starter was a really odd mix of ingredients (identified them all. Couldnt understand why I had chunks of fish, cauliflower, mint, cherry tomatoes and pomegranate on a mushy strange tasting houmous.... Followed by even stranger fare. Slow cooked lamb with coffee and paprika my foot. It was so tough and unflavoured I thought for a while it was liver. Boiled, still very firm, lumps of turnip and carrot. Huge chunks of squash... Unseasoned. A few parsnip crisps on the top. I had to leave most of it and Im still feeling queasy. I LOVE the idea of this restaurant. It was strange, unsettling and exciting to eat in the pitch dark. But you have to give your guests a feast for the senses guys. it could have been an absolutely outstanding experience. Nightmare school dinner throwbacks at the price youre charging... Sorry but its not on. Your chef is lazy and doesnt care about what he or she is serving. Very very unimpressed.
Dining at Dans le Noir was an incredible and unique experience! Eating in complete darkness really shifted the focus from the appearance of the food to the taste, texture, and aroma, making every bite a new adventure. It was fascinating to engage my other senses so fully. Pouring water into the glass was a surprisingly challenging task, but it added to the fun and immersive nature of the experience. The staff were attentive and made us feel comfortable despite the unusual setting. If you re looking for an unforgettable dining experience, I highly recommend trying Dans le Noir!
Dans Le Noir is simply an incredible experience - I feel like everyone should experience it at least once in their lifetime. If you re expecting a Michelin star meal, this probably isn t the place for you. You are paying for the overall experience and immersion into a world where your senses will likely have never been so heightened before in your life, which is completely surreal. This makes it still worth every penny. Kate was an amazing waitress and helped us to find the comfort in the discomfort throughout our time in the restaurant. When I returned from the toilet, I was amazed at how another blind water was able to navigate me back to my table, despite the fact I had forgotten my table number. This was definitely a very humbling experience and has given me even more admiration for those who are visually impaired, as what was a novel experience for us, is just a way of life for the waiting staff in the restaurant. We will be recommending to all of our friends and family!
A very unique experience. You arrive at the bar area, are offered a drink whilst you wait, and then are lead upstairs to the dining room. The bar staff then hand you over to your waiter/ess and they guide you to your table. The room is pitch black. No light, no eye adjustment, nothing...just darkness. Which, fter a while when you realised your eyes wont adjust, was actually quite relaxing. The food was good, tasty and served quite quickly. But I have to say, our waiter Michael was brilliant. He was so patient, calm, and explained everything so well. A great waiter to have. Would like to return again, definitely. Dietary restrictions: Vegan menu available and they ask you about allergies and intolerances when asking you to choose your menu
Dietary restrictions: Very considerate of various dietary restrictions including religious restrictions. Food
The experience was good, surreal environment to eat in. Service was impeccable. 5* service. Sadly the food was lacking for us, understand some reasonings but food wasnt hot and lacked texture, everything was a bit soft. Starter was good, main was okay, dessert not to our liking.
Great experience - special shout out to Kate who had a great sense of humour (go Halloween!), handled everything amazingly, and made my partner s and I s evening.
We came last night for my partners birthday and it was such a unique and interesting experience. Making friends with your neighbours but never seeing what they look like, having no gauge on what the room looks like or how big it is, attempting to pour your own water, experiencing what it must be like to be blind for a few hours. The food was delicious but we guessed completely wrong what we thought it was! Our waiter Robbie was great. We were horrified to hear some guests who were there at the same time as us being rude and ungrateful to your staff - so I just wanted to say thank you for the wonderful service & I hope things like that dont happen here often.
Too loud for our liking but a great experience none the less
Completely unique experience, definitely recommend!!
Well where to start, absolutely brilliant, what this place offers is fantastic food and opportunities for people who are visibly challenge. Our waiter Nilesh, was fantastic made my birthday experience brilliant. He has a real talent for hospitality. Big thank you to the team.
Went a few years ago but forgot to rate. Absolutely amazing experience. I was hesitant to go, but my GF (now wife) begged me to go. Got seated with another lovely couple and it was so interesting to have conversations with no facial clues or judgements on looks. Food was fantastic and our waiter was attentive great to be with.
Sensor dining experience in fully dark room
Absolutely incredible experience!! Me and my friends laughed so much, we had the absolute best time and we will definitely return once the menu has changed! Our waiter Ghow was awesome, he was so friendly and welcoming, he learnt our names quickly and made us laugh! We really enjoyed the food, the drink and all in all the experience of dining in the dark. Thanks Dans Le Noir and Ghow!
Great customer service brilliant food Vegetarian options: You can have either Food : 5/5 |
Great experience! The staff was super professional and helped us to make the most of it. Nice food.
Good
What a fantastic experience, great service, wonderful food, very imaginative surroundings. Will definitely recommend. Vegetarian options: Super wide selection of seafood dishes, will highly recommend.
Totally unique experience that builds empathy.
Very lovely restaurant and great staff love it
Brilliant
An absolutely unique experience which I would struggle to replicate! The food was delicious, staff were attentive and it was a sensory experience like no other. I dont want to say too much to ruin it for others except just: try it for yourself!
So overrated. We were served potatoes and beans. I doubt there s a sensory component that can make that taste better Food : 2/5
Incredible and insightful experience, food was tasty and drinks were yummy. Our server Ghow was excellent.
Food was strangely a lot better than what I was expecting. I was very happy and was a nice challenge to figure out what you are eating. Our waiter, Kate, was so amazing and made our comfortable. She is absolutely lovely. However we felt the staff at the entrance were a bit cold and awkward. Anyway, thank you for the experience
We had an amazing experience in the dark. Thank you Kate for taking such good care of us! Would reccomend this experience for anyone. Food
Clearly, if you are thinking about coming here, the gimmick of eating in the dark has to seem super interesting and that was the case for us as well, but actually this restaurant was a lot more than just that. First of all, they were right that you should get there at least 5-10 minutes early. It meant we could choose our drinks for the meal and learn a bit more about how the menu works. After that, we were able to meet our server and get led into the completely pitch black dining room. Like, no light whatsoever. This was very disconcerting at first, but our server was super friendly and supportive as they sat the three of us at our own table. That did mean one brave soul needed to be alone on their side of the table, so perhaps coming in an even number of people would be best (there are apparently a lot of 2 person tables as we learned afterwards - we never would have known in the dark). Of course, this is dinner, so after attempting to pour ourselves water in the dark (only one of us spilling a bit...), our drinks and appetizers came out. It was quite the experience eating in the dark, let me tell you. We ended up settling on primarily exploring with one hand (make sure you wash your hands before going up) and using the fork with the other hand. It actually worked quite well and the food was really good. Now, it was about that time after the appetizer course that the darkness really started settling in. Was the room really long? Or maybe it just had a low ceiling? It did kind of mess with your head, so what helped us was just to keep talking. Thankfully, it wasnt long before our main course came and it was also delicious. Exploring our plate together almost felt like an escape room - one of us would discover something and tell the others and then wed try to figure out what each thing was. It was actually really fun. We didnt have the dessert course, but afterwards they do show you pictures of everything you ate - honestly, they all looked as delicious as they tasted. Youd definitely be happy getting this food in a normal restaurant too. Overall, everyone was very friendly, we had a great time, and the food was good! Cant really go wrong with that combination.
Dan Le Noir, you have to do it to believe it. it is totally dark, but don t be put off by that, we had an amazing time, we never felt uncomfortable, our waitress was amazing. We went for the chef s special 5 course meal. The darkness played on our senses and tastebuds, sometimes we just couldn t work out what we were eating, but it didn t matter. Try this restaurant, you will not be disappointed.
My partner and I had a lovely time this evening. Aliyah was an attentive waitress who made a great experience even better! Food was very nice with a diverse menu. Would definitely recommend the surprise menu. Dietary restrictions: Good gluten free options
This was by far the best experience I had during my stay in London. The food is great, the darkness is dark, and the service is absolutely exceptional!! Kate was our amazing hostess during the evening. I felt safe and comfortable during the dinner and we had great laughs at the table.
This place is strange! But unforgettable, a feeling Ive never experienced before, even if its a bit expensive :)
The most memorable and awe-inspiring time here with a group of friends for a Stag Do. Aliya in particular was fabulous, and the whole team were super helpful with the booking process for a large group. If you have hesitations of eating in the pitch black, come to Dans le Noir and be ready to be blown away!
An incredible experience I will always remember
What a fantastic experience!! Our waiter Ghao (sorry if i have spelled the name incorrectly) was brilliant! every so friendly and the service was so slick and smooth. We will 100% be going back to Dans Le Noir? with friends.
Very interesting experience that puts things into perspective and makes you think about things. The food is decent enough but that is irrelevant in this context
Michael was the most amazing waiter I have ever had. His passion and commitment to his craft was amazing! He was the cherry on top to a mind blowing, sensory and culinary experience! Highly recommend the lychee martini and getting the barmans choice cocktails...parfait x But the sharing tables are a bit tricky... if I could change one thing, me and my partner wouldnt have been sat next to two of the most problematic and annoying people we have ever met. Would want a private table next time. Much love for the team and the restaurant though!!!! Keep it up!!!
I came to this restaurant not really knowing what to expect other than that it is in the dark. Although the experience of eating in the dark was interesting the food that was served up was like a school dinner. You obviously dont see what youre eating and this is meant to enliven your senses however the food was overcooked, vegetables soggy and the picture they showed us at the end looked a hell of a lot better than it tasted. There were four of us at the party and we all felt the same. Personally I wouldnt step through this place again
Thank you to Ghow for being such a wonderful host. The service he provided was very attentive and kind. A surreal experience to be in total darkness- certainly a thought provoking one! Food
They say you eat with your eyes & this restaurant confirms it; you are blinded and vulnerable, with no agency over the place that dares to serve inedible food at eye-popping prices (and they dont even have electricity overheads.) If the food were fresh and of good quality you could spend your meal guessing the ingredients and taste combinations but instead you discuss what the meat could possibly be - liver? Over-cooked beef? (in the end it was apparently chicken.) As my partner said half way through, Please; make it stop. Special mention to our waiter Michael who was fantastic.
Its not great in every aspect, but it is definitely worth trying once.
Extraordinary experience, fully recomend.
Michael was a great host! The whole experience was incredible.
Couldnt recommend this more
Great food, and experience. Big shoutout to Ghow for the excellent service!
The service and experience at Dans le Noir cannot be faulted, it was very interesting and we had amazing service. Unfortunately the food was really bad, at points inedible which is frustrating given the price point being so high! The surrounding areas such as the entrance and bar area in the Dans le Noir are dated and in more needed TLC.
In line with most other reviews: the concept is great. Eating in the dark is a very enjoyable experience. The service is also good. NOT a value for money dinner but a nice experience.
An absolutely brilliant experience. Huge shout out to our incredible waitress Mabel who wears full of information, positivity and immense skill. It was a pleasure to dine in a place where phones are not allowed, it encourages connection with your partner and give you a sense of appreciation for something we all steak for granted. I would highly recommend!
What a great experience Everyone should try this at least once. Dinner in the dark. Great staff, good food. A real must.
Very cool experience, food was amazing, lovely cocktails, the whole thing was made better by our incredible server Aliya. THANKYOOOOOU
Upon arrival we where greeted, sat and attended to with Michelin standards. Very impressed to begin, staff set the tone very well making me more excited for the dinner itself. When entering the restaurant the chap was clear on his instructions in directing us to the table, the entire service in fact throughout the evening was exceptional. Having recently visited 3 & 2 Michelin starred restaurants in the last 6 months, the guys/girls here where on par if not better hear both in bar area and restaurant. The general experience was amazing, I won t go into too much detail as I don t want to spoil it for those not been and intending. All I will say is it was very different and very interesting, especially sat as a couple on a table of 6 with 4 other complete strangers, not being able to see a thing and trying to establish in your head the ago of the people your talking to etc. incredible. Unfortunately, all the hype would be soon shot right down. £100 for the chefs dinner . This being 20% more dear than Micheal o Hare & Micheal Wignalls combined dinner evening at the Angel which was extraordinary, so for the price my expectations was high. Not only did it fail to meet expectations, its was genuinely very disappointing. In fact the main course, was dreadful. I d go as far as saying there s more flavour in a Wetherspoons chicken supreme. Ridiculous size portion too. A huge dollop of lumpy, unseasoned mash potato, huge cuts of a bland random carrot, chicken breast though cooked very very well, tastless. The fish course was monkfish, accompanied with a large dollop of what tasted like mayonnaise, not very nice at all. The dessert was the tastiest of the meal, felt & tasted like a banana Crème brûlée, it certainly was not what was shown at the end, in the dark or not, from a chef of 15 years I know it wasnt what was on that menu. The entire food experience was very disappointing, same thoughts shared on everyone on our table.
What a great way to dine.... without seeing a thing! No phones... watches.... distractions. Just chat, good food..... unique experience.... and possible couple of mishaps along the way! Dont panic, they expect spillage 340,000 people in the UK are blind, or partially sighted.... and you can experience dining, food and drink through their minds. An experience to behold.... Not that cheap, but the time spent is priceless
Wow!!! Honestly, it is the best dining experience ever for service, hospitality and food. This was an incredible experience I shared with my partner as we dined in the dark and laughed the entire duration. Our incredible waiter Guillaume was so friendly and informative he definitely contributed towards our wonderful night. It can feel a little unnerving as you walk into the vanta black room but once you hear the calming and relaxing lounge music and everyone laughing and having a great time the tension slips away and the incredible experience begins. I highly recommend doing this for a different, humbling, and fantastic evening of fine food and great service.
Very unique experience. Food was good and the servers were absolutely phenomenal, with special thanks to Courtney. It can be a bit overwhelming being in complete darkness but the staff make sure you are comfortable; they are there with you the whole time and you can exit if you need to. Highly recommend.
An absolutely incredible experience. It cannot be put in to words how much everyone needs to try this at least one in their lives. Our waiter Ghow was great. I could not fault him. Great service and attended to all our needs! Food was tasty and was pleased with everything I ate
Very nice experience To live the feeling of people who are blind They enter you in a place completely devoid of lights that even your hand cannot see, due to the direction of completely blind people Two plates and it includes halal cucumber
This was such an incredible experience and worth every penny. You have to put your phones in the locker prior to going in. We had a 3 course meal which was phenomenal. We were taken to our seats in the dark and sat next to other people. I didn t know what to expect going in, but I had such a wonderful time. It was very calming and relaxing. The surprise menu was great, and it was fun trying to guess what we ate. Our waitress was friendly and attended our needs They show you at the end what you ate. The staff do an amazing job at serving people in the dark. I highly recommend this unique and humble experience.
We had a super friendly waiter Ghow, he was great and made the experience what it was!!
Truly breathtaking experience. I can t describe how amazing this restaurant is, from the service to the food. Would highly recommend to anyone willing to try the unorthodox method of eating.
What a unique and liberating dining experience, would 100% go again!
We visited this afternoon - family of 4 with kids just back from uni. We all loved it. Amazing service; tasty food; a great, thought-provoking experience. Thank you so much.
Came here while on a trip to London with the family and it was above and beyond what we thought it would be. Great food, awesome staff and a wonderful atmosphere. Would highly recommend.
Amazing recommend !!!
This restaurant was amazing. I was apprehensive about the food but it was excellent. The drinks were good. Our server Ghow was the best. So kind and patient in leading us and guiding us through the experience. I would definitely return.
Got to try this once in your life and really experience total blindness. Great food and atmosphere delivered by blind, partially sighted and sighted staff.
Ive given Dans le Noir 4 stars, because its worth more than 3. Its an experience worth trying. Food was OK, service the same, it was atmospheric eating in almost absolute darkness and guessing the food you had.
Just like every other experience in London you pay over the odds and are left feeling a little ripped off. I have been here in the past and had really good memories of the experience, but this time upon arrival the team of young staff have no enthusiasm, the food was ok but for a small fish starter and unimaginative chicken with mushroom main course for £52 per head, I had to get a McDonald s on the way home as I was starving (I m only 11.5 stone), it s just far too expensive for what it is.
Amazing place and amazing experience! It was very strange to dine in the complete dark, but we loved it very much. Very good service, friendly and caring staff. The food was very delicious ! I would come back here again! Highly recommended!
Lovely experience at Dans le noir before going to a performance at the Barbican. Had the surprise menu which was very tasty. We were served by Ghal - very impressive skills to serve people food in the dark. Very pleasant to chat to as well.
From the second you walk in to Dans Le Noir youre stepping into not just one, but a multitude of experiences one after the other. The initial lobby and bar is a wonderful little area where you can relax and start to wonder up all manner of potential scenarios youre about to experience. When youre ready, you are then led through a winding passage and slowly into darkness. The atmosphere from this point I cant properly put into words, it feels simultaneously alien and familiar. The front of house clearly knew what they were doing and their constant friendly verbal reinforcements were comforting! After five minutes of cowering you start to feel more comfortable in your surroundings and then suddenly youre locked in and everything from that point feels hilarious and amazing. It really will make you rethink many aspects of life all in a short two hour window. Last note is regarding the food - delicious and quite the challenge! Abandon the knives and forks and crack on with hands, trust me! Couldnt recommend more!!
A must try experience! Our waiter was super nice and helped us through all the experience. Yes, it s completely dark and yes, I throw all the water all over the table. The food was not my cup of tea but the overall was superb!
This was one of the most amazing experiences Ive ever had. I usually dont eat in resturants and this made it a lot easier and it was a fun experience shared with amazing company. Our waitress was extremely nice as were all the staff and the food was phenomenal especially the main.
Had a wonderful experience at this restaurant our server Ali was absolutely amazing. Totally recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a unique experience and great food. Totally recommend. Dans le noir
As a concept, this is such a novel idea and draws many people to give it a try. Spoilers alert: However, for me, the food itself could be better, with some over seasoning of the risotto and bizarre flavour pairing of the dessert making it hard to recognize (avocado, strawberry and lime). Our server in the dark room, Aaliyah was wonderful though with the sort of positivity that is infectious!
Fantastic experience, food was average but tbh, I wouldnt go for the food...
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday. It was a really eye-opening experience, we didnt think we would struggle to get the food on our cutleries this much! I would definitely recommend this to try at least once! The food was delicious and it was fun to try and guess what we have. The service was amazing too, Fabio was really friendly!
An experience like no other. Very friendly staff
Our server Ghow was fantastic, even sung Happy Birthday to my girlfriend. Food was top notch, hard experience to describe but one that needs to be tried!
We had a fantastic experience for a birthday meal! Our waiter Ghow was brilliant, he made it super easy to get settled in and enjoy our the meal! We could not recommend this place more. An all round great experience, food and service! We ll be back!
I really enjoyed this restaurant and experience. I recieved a voucher for 2 for 3 courses and a glass of wine. I had read about the experience, and a friend had been but it wasnt what I expected. You arrive and have a drink in the bar and confirm your dietary requirements. You are then taken to meet your guide who is visually impaired. Our guide was super nice and patient. They lead you to the table in total darkness. I expected my eyes to get used to the dark but they didnt at all. The food was nice, I enjoyed mine more than my partner. I had the vegan menu and she had a pescatarian menu. Our guide was superb and answered all our questions. A fabulous experience I will recommend to everyone (unless you dont like the dark). Only criticism was it was very noisy with people talking. You are also on long tables so have people next to you too... the people next to us were nice luckily. Dietary restrictions: You dont choose the food it is a surprise, but you can tell them everything you cant eat.
I loved the concept of dining in the dark, you can feel the way blind people feel this world. In the beginning they will take all your stuff and place in lockers, then confirm menu options. After that they introdused us to our waitress Melanie and she was the one who took us inside. We put our right hand on her right shoulder, my friend put hers on my right shoulder. When we reached our table Melanie said to touch the chair and table and have a seat. We sat in front of each other, i guess there were some people around us, as we heard them talking. The dishes were small, but very delicious, at the end they showed us what we ate, the only thing what confused us was main dish, as we tought we ate meat, but it was chicken. It did not taste like chicken at all :) Definatley worth experience to taste food without seeing it. Vegetarian options: Did not ordered but they have vegetarian option. Dietary restrictions: If you have them highly recommend to say to the waitress.
This place is an interesting concept. You get to dine in the dark. And when I mean dark, it s pitch dark. You can t even see your hand. Menu is a surprise menu. All u need to tell them is what you can and cannot eat and then they will serve you. You can select 2 or 3 course. Also any drinks. As you like. Now my problem - As much they market that since it s dark, your other senses are fully on alert, I didn t like it. The inability to see my friends and food was a problem Ever heard the phrase silence is deafening . This was a place where darkness was blinding. The inability to see your food meant that half the time was spend in identifying which area of the place the food was on and trying to pick it up. Also sorry but I am a picky eater. Cannot eat many things. Like cannot have cured meat but can have cooked meat. So I was all the time apprehensive of what I am eating. Good place to get an experience. But the place is more hyped than what it s worth. We were 4 people and not one said that they were going to return. I will classify the food as average. Not bad but not too good either. Also not worth the price. Vegetarian options: You can tell them that you need veg or vegan and they will serve you.
Our waiter Ghow, who is blind, made the experience very pleasant. How he could navigate around the venue was incredible to us. It was definitely a memorable experience and we cherish our sight for even more now. Ghow got the room to sing happy birthday- another experience - being sung to in the pitch black by a load of strangers! The food was very tasty. We would highly recommend
Unique experience, worth a try. Each course is quite varied so it is an interesting exercise to try and guess each dish since it s completely dark in the room. Ghow provided an amazing service and made us laugh with his witty humor.
Amazing experience. Totally recommend
Really terrible food combinations that were made to confuse the diner and not to satisfy. Service was fine. Atmosphere was non existent as there was nothing to see and the only things to hear were other diners knocking their plates and cutlery about Would not recommend
A great experience which makes you appreciate all your senses. Ghaw was exemplary and made us feel very relaxed and welcome.
Wonderful fun experience, amazing funny service. Such a fun immersive time.
Incredible experience, surprised my husband for his birthday, restaurant were amazing in keeping guests quiet and hidden ( in the dark!!!) amazing staff . Great experience you must try
Such a unique and fun experience. The staff were so friendly and we had an incredible time. It was a strange experience but very enjoyable. The food was also absolutely incredible with very large portions. We had the set veggie menu and they were also brilliant with our allergies.
I can finally check this place off my list of something I have wanted to do for the last 8 years. We ate 2 courses with wine then decided to upgrade to dessert. The dark was a bit uneasy to begin with then it became very enjoyable. The sound of the other guests and waiters/waitresses in the dark was interesting. The food of high quality. The wine was ok, maybe not to the same standard as the rest of the meal. All the staff were very attentive and of great assistance. I would highly recommend this!
The experience is unique for sure and a lot of fun. Its a shame that the wait to table was quite long and we werent given a chance to get drinks while waiting really either. Our waiter in the dark was fantastic. Super attentive and friendly. Big up to Gal! The food was mostly very tasty. Had the vegan surprise menu. The pasta was unfortunately raw in parts though and when we mentioned this to staff at the end they didnt seem to care. Id recommend it if you are looking for a different night out, but the overall experience could use some refining. Its a bit $$$$!!!
I visited Dans le Noir yesterday for a birthday celebration, the experience was amazing! Our waiter Gal was fantastic and the food was delicious. Will definitely be visiting again
Fantastic experience! The food was amazing! Gawl and Fabio have been very kind and made the experience even better!
Here everything is perfect. The food could be improved but the service was certainly excellent. Keep going...
The experience was cool but only for a short while. The service was also prompt and the waiters were helpful. However the food was below average and the restaurant was extremely overpriced based on the quality and quantity of the food. Waiting to actually be given a table also didnt help
Food was great. Experience was surreal and enjoyable. Had a lovely couple next to us. Aliya our waitress for the experience was an absolute delight. Food
The food was great and the whole experience overall was awesome, normally I don t care for the food I was served for my starter but it was delicious here. Our server Manelle gave us the best experience possible, she was extremely attentive and personable and just a very warm person to be around in general. The drinks were great too, a must try if you are in London.
A really amazing experience. Food was outstanding. Ghaow our waiter was really helpful and made the experience so much better. Found it quite emotional too
Had an amazing experience at the restaurant. Definitely worth doing for an occasion. Our waiter Ghao was fantastic and provided an incredible service throughout. Definitely an experience I would try again in the future noting they have a seasonal menu!
It s an amazing experience, we 100% recommend. It s loads of fun trying to guess what you ate, and I ended up eating with my fingers i can t lie. It was a completely different experience which made it thrilling. Food was incredible! Well done to all the staff, you have something great going on
It was an incredible experience, I got this as a surprise for my wife s birthday, we both really enjoyed it. Ghow was our waiter, he was very professional and attentive, could not have asked him for more. Overall, we re definitely coming back!
This was an incredible experience! It took some adjusting to the darkness but the food was amazing and our waiter Gohw was brilliant. He made us feel at ease and made us laugh throughout. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Too expensive for below average food and wine. The only things that saves it somewhat are the experience of dining in the dark and the friendly staff. Overall (sadly) not worth it.
Amazing experience! Interesting concept. It was a gift for my birthday whilst visiting London and we both had a great time. Excellent food, excellent organic Italian wine and excellent service. Highly recommend.
We had the vegan surprise menu, food was great , better than I expected especially the dessert was really delicious. Portions were a good size! Really good service from highly skilled servers. I was scared at first but once you are seated in the totally pitch black dark room, you start feeling comfortable and you can tell where which items are and the servers guide you very well! Overall a very unique great experience ! Thanks to the team.
Great experience Ghow went above and beyond to make it fun and pleasant experience! Totally recommended
Located in a quiet street in Farringdon, dining in the dark is an excellent experience provided by Dans Le Noir! My friend and I visited and chose the three course meat / fish surprise menu and the vegan menu; both of them utterly delicious. Its certainly a very serene and relaxing atmosphere despite the voices of other diners, but it was not too busy for a Saturday afternoon. Our waiter, Ghow, was very courteous, friendly and made our experience even better with his excellent service. After we ate the three courses, we were guided out of the pitch black dining room, and shown photos of what we ate - impeccable presentation on top of the exquisite tastes. I shall visit again and I highly recommend this dining experience to others!
Wow absolutely amazing experience that think everyone should have - we left in awe of anyone with visual disturbance. Food was amazing, staff amazing and overall experience fantastic x
Excellent experience thanks to Fabio and the rest of the staff
Great experience, to find out a little how have to use your other senses. We had the surprise menu so didnt know what we were eating. When we were finished we went back to the waiting room and showed us what we had had to eat. We were just over half right with what we had Food
The experience is definitely worth it, there is something so unique about eating in pitch darkness! Service was excellent, we had Ghow who really took care of us, checking in every so often and expertly leading our little party in and out of the room. The food, however, was just ok, especially at that price point. We had the fish/meat menu, and I found most things had been overcooked and over salted. One course had such a bizarre texture and artificial flavour that I didnt finish it. Later, it was revealed to have been a vegan dish even though we had chosen the non vegan menu. I wonder if it is really that much effort to make two different desserts? The pictures we were shown afterwards were beautiful, but the flavours and textures just werent up there, a bit disappointing given that the whole point of this restaurant is to remove the visual aspect of the food and focus of flavour!
Thats definitely the most romantic and interesting restaurant we have visited in London in 10 years! (celebrated anniversary with my wife there) Our waiter Fabio was very nice and friendly, helped us not to get lost in the dark and made our visit very comfortable! The food was delicious as well, and the senses and tastes are sharper when you do not see anything around) Extremely highly recommended!
Wonderful experience eating in the dark. Very thought provoking about visual impairment and how unaware we are of what we eat
I have visited Dans le Noir before, but this particular visit was horrendous. The food tasted horrible. I was still belching it up the next morning. The atmosphere was just about impossible. There were a number of drunk patrons who decided that since they couldnt see, they needed to shout at each other. The staff tried to quieten them down, but it didnt work. It was a horrible evening
We went for the 5 course menu (one fish/meat and one vegan) and its the worst food experience weve ever had, and Im not even considering the price (110 pounds each) which makes it a complete daylight robbery but in the dark! If you like microwave dishes, bad wines, too loud atmosphere and wasting your money thats definitely the place for you.
My partner and I had an amazing early Valentines at Dans le Noir?. A whole new experience for the both of us and a very interesting concept. We surprised ourselves at how well we managed to eat with no cutlery in the pitch black! I dont think Ive ever been in such darkness, even after an hour we still couldnt see a thing. We both had the meat/fish surprise menu where every dish was delicious and it was lots of fun guessing what it was, it was quite strange each first bite of something new on the fork! Our waiter Ghow was great, we have very similar names and he remembered ours and the other guests throughout and guided us through every aspect. Thanks Ghow and Dans le Noir!
Very nice and luxury styles rooms and most better foods
Genuinely memorable dinner. Was there 2 weeks ago and still havent forgotten how strange an experience it was. Was served by Michael who was fantastic.
Does what it says on the tin - it is completely pitch black - and the service is great but the food is very expensive for what it is (£52 for a small salad and simple noodle dish).
I really enjoyed the experience of being in darkness, however the food was pretty terrible, felt like an 18 year old was cooking dinner for their friends. That doesnt even take into account how much it cost! Definitely not value for money. A real shame. They say they are wary of allergens but it was flavourless and lacked thought
Before we came, we had seen reviews saying the food was bad but we thought well surely its not that bad... I can assure you, it is. It is that bad. Its a lot of money to spend for what is essentially an experience you could replicate by putting on an eye mask and eating a microwave meal. Dont waste your money!!
As part of our stay in London, we experienced this establishment, and we were delighted. The welcome: simple, pleasant, it was impeccable, we had a great time, the person who took care of us was smiling, polite and understanding. Then, the meal: A particular mixture of flavors in the mouth, not seeing what we eat develops all our senses. We eat very well there. In addition, the waiter who took care of us was particularly kind and caring. If one word should describe this place it is kindness. Smile and professionalism await you. The experience is incredible, the atmosphere will transport you, tourist and local alike, you will have the opportunity to chat with strangers next to you, it s a experience to do. I would like to make a special mention for Michael who took care of us during this experience!
What an experience. Took the Mrs for valentines. Coughed up 170 but kinda worth it. (Bottle of white + cocktail). When I say it s pitch black it s pitchhh black. They sit u on tables with other ppl so fingers crossed u don t sit next to anyone loud n annoying LOL
Very cool and unique experience, probably the darkest space Ive ever been in. Unfortunately the food was pretty grim and the service outside of the dining room felt a level beneath the price theyre charging -- tacky laminated menus, weird space that smells, etc.
Aliyah was such a cool server!
Loved it. A must do for everyone. Our waiter Gahl was great too. Wonderful food for a reasonable price!
The waitress Manela was very professional and attentive. Made us feel very comfortable, the food was very tasteful and gives you a chance to improve your palate Food
Great experience, good food and lovely staff. If you are looking for an eye-opening dinner experience, look no further!
Firstly, Aliyah was an absolute amazing host. She guided us in and made us instantly feel calm and welcomed. Not to take away from the other staff, they are all amazing. The experience you must try. There is a sense of wonder and fascination with the unknown. You are in complete, and I mean complete darkness. The wine, the food, people you sit with is all darkness. Which takes the pressure off talking to new people...you cant see them so its actually quite calming. The food came out one by one (we did the 5 courses) each plate I buried my nose it to try and smell what I thought it was, my hands would gently glide over the surface and then Id have the fun of trying to use cutlery in darkness resulting in my face being an inch away from my plate haha Some foods I guess correctly (youll see a photo of the menu at the end) some I was very surprised by what they were and even more surprised I liked them when I wouldnt usually eat it at home. The food is luke warm but this is for safety reasons as I said you are in complete darkness. I will recommend this experience to everyone, there is nothing like it. Aliyah you made our night. My wife and I thank you. From your Aussie (not kiwi) friend, Kieren.
Darker than you expect
Very unique experience .
We will be talking about our meal here for a long time to come. What a fabulous experience. We thought we knew food but you have no idea until you try this.
Our server Ghow was excellent. He made the experience far more pleasant than we had anticipated. The food came out quickly also. Thank you Ghow x Claudia and Stacy Food : 3/5
An amazing experience from start to finish. Didnt know what to expect as it was a surprise for me. Wow. Great staff, great food. Well I thought so.
Having been before, expectations were high... The food was very disappointing this time. Starter was tasteless, the dessert was too heavy. Not at all what you pay for. But I cannot fault the staff who are wonderful. Especially our waitress.
AMAZING! We did that on our last evening in London and it was the best way to finish our vacation. The ambiance, food, the servers (huge thanks to Manël and Courtney) were just 10/10. We ll definitely tell all our friends about this place! Food
I could not believe when Ceecee said she d only been there a week. She was so professional, friendly and attentive (even in the dark). I was a bit nervous going into it but she was so helpful. Overall amazing experience with delicious food. Definitely recommend for a romantic date night.
I really appreciate Dans le Noir and the idea behind it. After the initial shock of stepping into the pitch black room and once you other senses settle into the darkness, it is surprisingly relaxing and rewarding experience. As it is meant to be a surprise menu, I will not disclose any details of the food served apart from the fact that you can choose either veg or fish/meat menu. The food was actually delicious and no, I did not guess correctly all that was served. After the meal you ll be showed pictures of your dishes. We were looked after by Ghow who is absolutely fantastic and ever so attentive. Prices are very reasonable and it is definitely a unique experience, not to be missed.
It was a very different experience, I really enjoyed it and the staff were fantastic
Love this place, amazing staff, banging food
This place is a gem! The ambiance struck the perfect balance between elegance and comfort. The food was superb, with each bite more delicious than the last. The service was prompt and courteous, adding to an overall excellent dining experience. Eating in the dark is so fun! Vegetarian options: some options Parking: Difficult to find a spot Kid-friendliness: not great for kids Wheelchair accessibility: Comfy access
The first minute adjusting is a bit unusual but once you get through that it s a fantastic experience. Michael was a wonderful host! We had a great meal, found it fascinating to guess what we had eaten. Highly recommend this experience
Be prepared to feel uncomfortable for the first 15 minutes, but you ll soon relax into an unforgettable experience. Great for long term couples wanting to spice up date night, or for those wanting a blind date. Gal was a superb guide throughout, keeping us informed of exactly what to expect and taking us through what was a culinary journey. Would recommend.
Very interesting experience definitely a must but wouldnt go back straight away too intense
Expensive, food not so great, but experience unusual This was a pretty cool experience, something you cannot ever do anywhere else so we thought it was interesting. But I have to warn you, it is very expensive and the food is nothing to write home about. The service was prompt but our server (a female) wasnt over the top friendly just polite, which I didnt really like. We could hear another server since its dark and your ears are very attune to your surroundings. He was making it fun for his customers. They ask you to select a menu based on your dietary needs, and its a surprise as to what you are going to be served and after they show you pictures of what you were served and you can have fun with whether you guessed it right or not. We opted for the pescatarian menu. We also chose the 3 course meal with wine. The cool part is being able to pour water into a glass from a decanter and cutting with a knife. Their menu is ever changing. We chose the pescatarian menu I think it is overpriced for the food they serve you and my pasta was undercooked and raw. But it is a very neat experience and worth trying at least once. Vegetarian options: They have a special vegan menu
I have to say this has been one of the best places Ive ever gone for food. Food - Absolutely incredible, value for money, and delicious. I was afraid that I was going to get tiny portions but the three course meal was more than enough. Service - The staff at the entrance and till seemed really disinterested and bored, but Ill still give service a 5/5 for how incredible, welcoming, warm, and personable our server was. Her name was CC, and she is an absolute joy to speak to. She made the entire experience so much better! - Food came out quickly, and our server was making sure our food was good to go as we were finishing our meals as to not let us wait too long. Atmosphere - Its pitch black. But, I will say that your tables are right next to someone elses. You have to raise your voice to be able to be heard from across the table, and you can easily hear other people from all around you. I wont say it made the experience worse in any way, but made chatting to my partner significantly more difficult. All customers have to give up electronics so no lights or screens can be seen, and was a welcome change of pace from my usual dining experience. All in all I would whole heartedly recommend this restaurant and experience to anyone and everyone, and believe that its well worth your time and money.
Very unique concept and nice food. Pouring wine in the dark was hilarious but over all a great experience. The quality of the food was very good just not all quite to my taste.
Im not entirely sure where to start with this place. I guess it breaks into three areas (as laid out above). Firstly food. Lets get straight to the point here, you have no idea what you are getting, it could be a deconstructed big mac. Its not, but it could be, its dark you see. I wont spoil the suprise as its a surprise menu and it might be the same when you visit. The food was of a level of elegance I didnt expect. All three courses were delicious and had a depth of flavour and eloquence of taste that wouldnt have been out of place the in the greatest restaurants on earth. Purely sublime food. Next service, our server had only worked there for 3 days, she was a young song writer, whod not been blind her whole life, so when I say she was exceptional I need you to understand how deep I mean that word. The service was of a class Id expect from someone trying to get a massive tip. Except it was genuine. As we all know just bringing plates to a table is fairly easy. The service bit is the bit inbetween. There was an ease of flow with our waitress, the conversation and all of the interactions felt natural and unforced. She was a breath of fresh air. Finally, the atmosphere, it was dark. I dont just mean dark, I mean like you hear your own soul dark. Pouring water becomes an artistic endevour, rather than something you can simply just do. The darkness is just the stage, but its the sounds that make the experience whole. The noise of your dining companions moving, the distance call of coming through, the clinking of plates on cutlery (or in my case hand on plate because I couldnt find my food otherwise). This soundscape is what makes the real experience 4D for me.
