Excellent service and delicious food.

How have I not been to this lovely restaurant before? It s right on the doorstep and really fabulous! Friendly attentive service, delicious food and a nice ambiance. I will be back!

A really friend restaurant that seems to have been there forever and its a real hit with the locals. Its abit tired looking and could use a refresh but food and service makes up for it

We chose this restaurant due to proximity of where we were staying, and what a gem. Food was so fresh and perfectly prepared. Service was top-notch, and they took the time to get to know us. I cannot wait until next year when I come back to London because this will be, my first stop.

As a spaniard would definitely recommend, very authentic dishes compared to other tapas places in the UK. Also a bit pricier as a result, but very worth it. Croquettes would be my recommendation to anyone trying this out. The gentlemen in charge also provided great service.

Delicious and authentic Spanish food

I love going to this restaurant. They welcome you like your one if there personal family friend. They dont rush you. They advise you and are really helpful with your choice. The wine list is great. I even took my 88 Yr old mum with me. They make us feel really welcome. Cant wait to go back.

Dined here for a NYE meal with a friend. The food was mouthwatering and the staff treated us like old friends. Decor was stunning and we felt like wed been transported abroad for the meal. So glad to have found this gem and will be making it somewhere to return to frequently. The general menu and tapas menu has so much choice which is one of the main reasons we chose to come here. I wanted to like this place and i expected to especially given all the great reviews. The restaurant itself smelled really damp and stale. The waiters were pretty unkempt, but they were friendly and nice. The food itself was very bland. I ve had far better tapas in so many places in London. The portions are small and the prices are pretty high. Believe it or not, the food s taste resembled the restaurants smell. It had this strangely stale taste to it, especially the potatoes and calamari which were fried. Finally, my friend and I both had very upset stomachs after eating here, there must be a hygiene issue or i have no idea what. In conclusion, this place is not nice. Not sure how they re so amazingly rated at all.

Good place to try some old school cooking. The veal escalope and the sirloin were done to perfection. Amazing stuff, polite and knowledgeable, treating us really good. Served even limoncello and fresh fruits as end of the dinner without us ordering. Main dishes portions are big so be careful how many starters you ll order. No speed service, no one will rush you to finish your food, we spend more than 3 hours there, and left with pleasant feelings. Will visit again in the future.

So disappointing. I agree with another post the reviews are what brought us to this restaurant. Waiters pleasant (drunk). Not worth the price; puddings over priced and gross. Wont be returning

If you wanted to eat here I would really recommend booking as we saw about 6 groups get turned away during our meal. Its a cozy atmosphere with friendly service. Even at limited tables, we didnt feel pressured to change our table. My personal preference regarding the food, I felt that there was quality and it was delicious

Its been a few years since my wife and I had the pleasure of dining at Bar 61 in Brixton...but a great meal and hanging with my man Tony AL Pacino was worth it!!

Shockingly overpriced for low quality microwaved tapas. Main menu and wine list also did not seem like good value. At least £25 a main for average items (chicken and chips, creamy sauce etc). No draught beer. Staff had some banter, might have been a fun place 20 years ago

Great restaurant for a chicken suppressor and tapas we have never been disappointed with this unique restaurant in Streatham would highly recommend this place

We had a warm time, the staff took great care of us and we ate very well!

Used to be our go to place for tapas but the menu hasn t changed in over 15 years but the price certainly have and it s gone from reasonably price to expensive for what you get. Shame really

Had a bottle of wine and tapas on a Friday night. Very welcoming staff and the wine was great. We had 8 plates of tapas to share and a few were very below standard. The olives and calamari were really not good but we enjoyed the Spanish omelette and chorizo. We were also given free fruit and shots at the end which was nice.

What a great place. Super friendly owners with great food. We had six tapas dishes from a very varied menu. I simply couldnt ask for anything else. You really feel like a valued customer.

Just loved this place, the best waiters in London. Great, authentic tapas and a lovely dining room raised at the back. The bar at the front could be anywhere in Espania and well be making a thorough exploration of that next time. Will definitely be a next time and cant wait.

Stopped in here on the way to a night out in Coulsdon and can honestly say it is the best bar in London. Superb olives, friendly staff and top craic. Looking forward to my next visit already.

I ordered veal escalope and what I got was a round ball of breaded veal with what tasted like cheddar and ham. The potatoes were not seasoned along with the vegetables. The cookery was very poor. The service was adequate but couldnt make up for the poor standard of the chef. I wont be eating there ever again.

Went for a celebratory meal. Delicious tapas and the staff were really very friendly and attentive, like they were genuinely glad to see you. Cannot fault the experience.

A family run restaurant with excellent service and a great atmosphere. There are two menus - one for tapas and the other for main dishes. We have enjoyed the main dishes several times, and this time tried the tapas - for a group of 4 or more I would recommend this as you can all try a larger variety of dishes. A free fruit selection at the end was a nice gesture too.

Delicious food, wonderful atmosphere & great service. We got tapas, would recommend the bean and chorizo stew & the muscles. Really enjoyed our evening and will absolutely be repeat customers now I have found it :)

Fantastic Spanish restaurant and tapas bar. Owner and staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. No loud music so you can have a civilised conversation - a rarity with restaurants these days. A little gem in Streatham.

I m sad to say we did not enjoy our meal at Bar61. The dining room was straight from the 80 s and the food was straight from the freezer and pretty inedible! I m always reluctant to leave a bad review but I felt obligated as the previous reviews on here are misleading.

Mostly i order the same thing every time I come here, prawns on garlic and seafood spaghetti and it s delicious, such a lovely staff. Recommend it for everyone who needs a delicious meal and cozy and clean place

The food tasted very good, some dishes/ chutney were exceptional but, to my mind,a dish could be improved much more ( the kale salad would be preferably enjoyed warm and not cold). Finally, I would like to compliment the whole staff for their generosity, passion for what they do and friendliness: it just made my night. good job BAR 61

Trying to eat your meal without the 12 brothers that work here disturbing you is impossible. The word intense was invented for this type of haunt.

A beloved Streatham institution for very many years because the owners are the nicest, most hospitable and welcoming people you could ever meet. The food is not elaborate but it is authentic and the wines are very well chosen. If you dont have an enjoyable evening here, its your fault!

This was a lovely restaurant to go to with a friend. The food was varied and delicious and very tasty sangria too. Also reasonable prices and not expensive. The staff were friendly and welcoming including getting to know us a little. We also received a fruit platter and a shot of delicious hazelnut liqueur on the house. I would definitely visit again and take my partner. Thank you for excellent service and a great experience.

Service was fantastic - cheery joking around whilst being attentive to our needs. Food was great too with most of our party of 7 sharing tapas. Nice that there are main meal options for those who don t like to share! Ask for the hazelnut liqueur as a digestif, absolutely delicious and I don t normally like liqueurs.

This was an unexpected find. A family run business that still maintains the same high values it had when launched. The quality of the ingredients and the taste of the dishes is just simply superb. The food was lovely and the service is top notch. Very friendly staff and great atmosphere. No rush to get you out of the restaurant. Wish there were puddings, but the complimentary liqueur at the end makes up for that. Delicious!

Dont be put off by the slightly average exterior - this place is a hidden jam. The most random and welcoming decor, charming and charismatic staff who seem to know their customers by name and a totally delicious selection of tapas. Ive been several times and always leave happy.

A lovely quaint and delightful family run restaurant. It a hidden gem. They staff are very attentive. Theres a good selection on the menu and its cooked to a very high standard. The deco is a bit dull but the standard of the service has never changed. Priced reasonably worth a visit if you in the area even pop in for a cocktail

Booked a table for 14 for a combined birthday dinner. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. We had a huge variety of tapas which were very tasty and more than enough to satisfy us - all washed down with a few jugs of sangria. Both birthday boys were made to feel special by the staff including an unexpected birthday fruit platter with candles and sparklers. Overall, a lovely evening at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended!
