Sri Lankan & South Indian cuisine & exotic cocktails served against a hip, vibrant backdrop.
Went on a Friday evening, around 8/9pm and it was pretty loud and busy. We managed to get a seat by the window. I liked how fast the food arrived and the service was great. Really enjoyed the flavours, just the environment wasn’t for us and the branch was really small/felt cramped. Hence the 4*
Had a pleasant meal at Hoppers. Starters were tasty...we had the paneer, mutton rolls. Mains were good..wasn't quite enamored with the chicken but the dosa and prawns were delicious. The pineapple lassi was surprisingly good.
We went there to discover new food. We took a dosi, an egg hopper, 2 karis, a chutney and a sambol, and paid approx. 40p The food is absolutely amazing, staff is nice. If you have trouble with spice, the lamb kari is nice. However if you want an extra kick, sambol is there for you!
Nice little place in central London. Nice and tasty food. Ordered the bone marrow and egg hopper, both are really nice. The day special is very special and worth trying. So definitely ask for the special before ordering! Just be aware that some dishes are a bit spicy🌶️.
Managed to get a seat for ~40 minutes before the next reservation on a Saturday night. The waitress explained the menu and recommended dishes based on my spice tolerance, and it was perfect! The hopper and chicken kari paired well together, quick to come out too. The atmosphere was cozy, highly recommend :)
The food was authentic and tasty. The price was reasonable for central London. The ambience and service were great. Love the Lamb Roti starter and Guava Lassi with chilly salt ❤️. We did order egg hopper, regular dosa and a roti. I would say the hopper and dosa wasn’t as impressive as expected, I preferred the roti personally. We also ordered prawn kari and pork kari as recommended by the water. I like the prawn one but not 100% sure about the pork. My husband liked it though. So it could be just due to personal taste. I would go back to try other dishes on the menu.
Highly recommended and one of the best Sri Lankan restaurants in zone 1. We were a group of 5 for lunch, and ordered quite a few items from the menu. Staff was polite & attentive and service was quick. They were fast to act on our feedback, and got it resolved. The egg hoppers, podi dosa, chicken kari, prawns kari, and green chicken were too good. They were made using fresh curry leaves and herbs. We also ordered mutton poriyal which had a great flavour but mutton and was chewy and hard. We also ordered number of cocktails and drinks, arrack attack was a great one; and tropical lager was also very nice. We will visit again.
What an experience! We had epically good food here and such lovely service. Although we were running late due to many closed roads around Parliament, the restaurant took us without question and were extremely kind to our family. The rolls were spicy and delicious, the chicken appetizer and the paneer tikka really lovely, and the hoppers —> OMG they were completely amazing, I had to order another to sop up the absolutely delicious eggplant curry - another must-order item! highly recommended down to the fresh chash (Masala buttermilk)!
Such an amazing collection of tasty dishes that I was sad to be full. Egg hopper is so simple yet added so much. Vegetarian options: Veggie tasting menu accompanies the meat option.
Delicious. Would 100% come here again
Delicious food but terrible service! The server was rude, didn t offer to explain anything on the menu, tried to take my friends drink before finishing without asking - then when she said she wasn t finished he bent down to look if anything was left in the glass. We were constantly interrupted throughout our dinner and it felt we were rushed out as soon as we sat down. I would go back but not to the Soho branch!
Amazing food and atmosphere, staff were very helpful and efficient. Portion sizes were quite small and are pricey for the type of food they offer.
The food here is Amazin!!! The service was fast, we walked in and there was space for two people . I recommend the squids and the chicken . Try the bread also it s supper different and delicious
The food is lovely. Unfortunately the service is targeted on moving you on as fast as possible so you dont have time to enjoy the food or relax into your evening. You get 1.5 hours for a group of four. I realise now that the booking email says that, although I didnt spot it before arriving. The wait staff didnt tell us about the time limit on seating us. Instead they approached us every 5-10 minutes to ask if all OK, do we want anything else etc. It was intrusive and made us feel really unwelcome. When we left I mentioned this to one of the best staff, who then pointed out theyd let us stay 20 minute past our alotted time per the email. I honestly didn t realise this and I dont want to make things difficult for hardworking wait staff. But equally for a dinner booked at 6.45 pm we didnt expect to be chased out at 8.30 having been made to feel uncomfortable for the prior 45 minutes. Maybe thats us expecting too much but I wouldnt recommend Hoppers if you want to do more than have a quick meal. Its a shame because the food and cocktails are lovely. They just dont want you to try too many of them!
Die hard place to try Sri Lankan food. Whenever I visit London will come again.
I ve heard nothing but praise about Hoppers Soho and was so disappointed by my entire experience 1. The food portions were small and overpriced which doesn t reflect the generosity of the Sri Lankan community 2. We had to join a virtual queue for an hour and a half - but there are so many alternative food options in the city 3. The staff didn t tell us about how long we had the table for and quite literally chased us out as soon as we were done eating - despite seeing our drink glasses full. The treatment was a little rude and definitely not in line with the incredible things I ve heard and read about the restaurant. Terrible shame. The beer was incredible though - if they start a hoppers bar where you aren t chased out in 30 minutes I might go there.
We have been to the other Hoppers and the experience and service has been awesome. Unfortunately for this location the service was really poor. We were given a seat at 9:30 and the servers were always in a rush. They kept highlighting that we need to order now and the kitchen is closing. Didn t explain much on the menu like other locations, focus was to get us out of here. The Maryleborne location is much more vibey and the hospitality there is exceptional. People in that location are genuinely invested in customer service while here it looks like they simply exist in all honesty
Really delicious. Really recommended
Good food
Good food. Would recommend chicken kari and masala dosa. Hopper wasn t anything special.
Every bite was delicious. The waitress made sure the spice levels werent too hot for us and they got it just right. Im definitely going back.
Absolutely delicious. I went with the vegetarian meal option because it was my first time with Sri Lankan food, and I was blown away. Every bite was perfect and surprising. Highly recommend!
Order: chilli cheese dosa, green pepper corn chicken (if you can handle spice) Skip: banana chips Food : 5/5
What a delicious meal, in a great setting, served by a wonderful team! Tanya - thank you - this place is run so well, and it was all delicious!
The food here is so delicious. The flavours were so amazing. We would recommend
Very good food and atmosphere. Halal and reasonably priced
Bill with 1gbp automatically added for their association
Lovely restaurant with a few locations. Soho is small but the food was fantastic juat a bit different from a typical Indian but full of flavors
A very busy Sri Lankan joint. Had a good chicken kari at lunch time. Tasty, but small, no rice included. Soho prices 30£ with a glass of wine). OK but do not plan to return.
Fantastic food, efficient service.
Dont miss this gem for vegetarian delicious food. Try a hopper!
Couldnt fault the evening, staff was very helpful and welcoming, very accommodating as we were running late for our booking. Lamb biriyani was exquisite. Get the egg hopper and some nice dipping sauces or curry to go with it. Absolutely fab evening, thanks very much to the team, we really enjoyed ourselves!
Very very pleasant surprise at this restaurant in the heart of Soho. We were going to eat Indian and finding a Sri Lankan restaurant we thought it was the same thing. Well no! It s just as tasty as Indian cuisine, just as spicy on certain dishes but quite different. A nice discovery and a very smiling and considerate welcome. The only downside for me: the noise... but is there a restaurant that isnt noisy in Soho?
We ordered hoppers, kothu, black pork and the condiments and drinks. The hoppers the middle was nice the sides have to be thin and crispy, the sides were bit thicker. Kothu was nice small portion for the price. Overall good, nothing spevial.
Had Green peppercorn chicken in starter, podi dosa ( it doesnt come with any chutney or sambhar but the taste is awesome), mutton curry along with basmati rice. Portions were generous and delicious. I would highly recommend this place. I had no booking but got a place to sit. walk in without any wait. Had a strong desire to gatekeep this place.
Excellent service! Attention to allergies is seriously taken into account! It is only thanks to this that I truly enjoyed my dinner! Thank you !!!!!
What a place! Feels like a hole in the wall, cooks like a Sri Lankan tour-de-force. I admit this review is from pre-covid but honestly one of the more unique and exciting ethnic restaurants in London. Cant wait to go back. hoppers themselves are good but must try rest of menu, some deep and complicated flavors in the other dishes.
If I could give this place zero I would. I booked for my (Sri Lankan) family from Australia, which they asked to hold my credit card against the booking - no issue. When we arrived with my 6 5 sons and nephew, the female manager indicated to a larger table where patrons were finishing up their food and she asked us to wait. She then proceeded to clean down the smallest booth for the four of us. I said that this was far too small and could we possible eat at the empty bar seats (5) - she said no . I then asked if we could add a stool to the end of the booth to give us more room - she said no . Then I enquired if it was possible to ask the walk ins with no booking - a group of 3 who just arrived in front of us and who were seated to a much larger table - to move to the booth, the manager said no . I then asked if it was possible to put two empty single tables together, I was told no, they are for walk-ins - absolutely preposterous given that the restaurant closed at 3pm and here we were at 220pm given inconsiderate and unacceptable options to accommodate physical size. How is this acceptable, when there were clearly several empty seats and table options to seat us. I put this down to someone wielding power over us. My nephew asked the manager what solution can you give us - she pointed to the tiny booth and said this is your table . Put simply, the female manager was rude and unaccomodating and couldn t give a toss about what we had so looked forward to coming from Australia. We left the restaurant as no options were provided - she d rather see us leave than give us an empty table that we could comfortably sit at. Is this how you run your establishments Hoppers?
The food here is nice, but I feel like I just cant justify the price. I think that £5.75 for a dosa, and £1.50 for a tiny bowl of chutney is just too much. I also felt a little rushed, as I was told I only had an hour to eat, because someone needed the table. Another thing I wasnt really a huge fan of was the fact that an extra charge was added to my bill without me being asked. While I think that supporting charities is a great thing, I think it would have been nice to have been asked or told first. Overall, I found the food here to be quite nice, but too expensive, so I probably wouldnt come here again.
Great food and service
Ok food, average atmosphere and we felt sick after eating here
Love this place, been 3 times now as excellent food and service in a non pretentious environment at the heart of Soho.
Definitely over priced and small portions. Tried to order dosa and realized that you have to order chutneys separate .. this is the first time we ever heard it. For us there is nothing to remember special about this place. On top of all of this, there is a charity donation of a 1 added in the bill and a service charge. Pretty annoying and we won t be going back to this place again.
Yumm. If only the portion sizes were a tiny bit larger cause the food was delicious and I wanted more.
Great food! Super unique flavors. Make sure to try the green pepper chicken, chilli broccoli and kari with a hopper.
Delicious Sri Lankan food. Great service! For some reason we forgot to take pics! Perhaps the food kept us busy! Toddy there, is a type of beer, not the Sri Lankan toddy from the coconut or palm tree! He he
First visit. Location reflected in the price. Food was excellent very tasty, although portions bit small which added to price. Service very very quick and fairly personable
Food poisoning On vacation in London, we booked this restaurant with our partner. The meal went very well, the food was good. When we returned to the hotel I started to get sick, then so did my partner. We were sick all night and saw our end of vacation compromised.
Service was great. I had the lamb Kari, the meat was so hard I returned it.
Food was excellent. The hot squid was pretty spicy but the curries and all the other dishes we had were not too hot and tasted amazing. Recommend getting some yogurt as a side if heat is not your thing
Was very dissapointed by a couple of things. Thesquid is very different from what you would find in Sri Lanka. It lacked crunch, color, flavour, and taste. Nothing about it reminded me of back home. (2/10). 5 pounds for a hopper, my mother would have slapped me the margins on that are insane (it would cost you 1/15) of that price to make it at home. The purpose of the hopper is to be light and easy to go down not some XXL version of it that eventually looses its crisp (3/10) The atmosphere was the worse, it was louder than a rave inside wtith people screaming and laughing I would barely hear my wife who was seated in front of me. The mutton curry was more Indian food tasting, small, didnt feel fresh or made to order, and it was served at room temperature. (2/10) At the end of the day, felt that it wasnt authentic, overpriced, and overhyped. I hope you could do better next time.
Good food, quality service. Rather small portions and expensive. A 1 quid optional charity donation has been added to the bill. If I wanted to donate to charity I can do it myself, I don t want to be contributing to your tax writeoffs.
Exceptional food and quick service! As a vegetarian we tried hoppers, string appam, biryani, jackfruit curry, deviled panner. Everything so very very tasty!!! Guava Lassi was such a new flavor, perfect summer drink without being overly sweet Vegetarian options: Lots and lots of veg options
Michelin Recommended! Authentic Sri Lankan cuisine is quite excellent. The dosas were delicious, as were the three curries. Highly recommended! The service is quite courteous, and the quantities are also very big. It was an intriguing change of cuisine for me, and I loved testing Sri Lankan food. We ordered the Devilled paneer, chilli cheese dosa, and their most popular podi dosa with aubergine curry. We thought the paneer and chilli cheese dosas were amazing, however the aubergine curry was even better. My besties and I had an excellent experience with the service. Highly recommended!!
Amazing food and service. After being in Sri Lanka, I love to see Kottu on a menu. We overstayed our reservation and they didn t seem to mind Vegetarian options: Large vegetarian menu and plenty vegan options.
Great little Sri Lankan / South Indian restaurant in Soho. Dosa, Dahl & aubergine curry were authentic and delicious. Friendly laidback service.
Great food with a brilliant team Make sure you pre book a table as it can get busy - I can see why! Good was exceptional as well as the iced tea Highly recommend the bone marrow - was cooked to perfection
Unbelievable meal in here a few weeks ago. Had heard great things and this absolutely delivered. Couldnt fault a thing and service was great. Will 100% be back.
Enjoyable dinner tonight, food tasty but should have been more authentic, needed more chilli IMHO. Squid was the standout for me. Service was good as were the cold uns !
The food quantity was way too little for the price being paid and the hostess was in haste and didn t let us complete the meal ,and had to ask for cutlery, lack of attention to the customers . Would not recommend it s not worth the money .
Amazing food. Will be back to try the rest of the menu
Definitely not Michelin. A large number of the items felt like they were toned down making them almost bland. The restaurant is a sri lankan tamil cuisine. The food is usually nose dripping spicy but not hoppers. Most small independent restaurants serving the same cuisine have had much better food both in taste and authenticity of items (veechu roti, idiyappam). The service and atmosphere were nothing to complain about with original non cliche soothing tamil songs being played.
Excellent food, excellent drink, excellent service from Husefa (if Ive spelled this wrong I apologise). Second time at Hoppers and was even better this time - it was my birthday and all the staff made me feel very appreciated! For first-timers Id recommend pairing a couple of the small plates - in particular the bone marrow, devilled paneer and mutton rolls - with a kari: my favourite is aubergine but the chicken is also very very good. Sambols are excellent and the hoppers are perfect for dipping. In terms of drinks, the toddy lager is very very nice, the arrack attack is a belter of a cocktail and arrack itself - especially the infused arrack - goes down far too easily. Best restaurant in London, cant wait to go back!
Small food and drink portions for what you pay, we also had a small table between three of us in the basement giving us very little table space for the food. Food tasted good and staff were nice.
First time tried Dosa. The cheese one was very delicious.
Food was good. But they had a biased receptionist south asian guy who only greets non indian people with a grin ear to ear but keep a poker face to Indians who come in ( I observed this while at the restaurant similar treatment given to Indians who came after me but non-Indians were greeted and treated very well). Very biased welcome, greetings and treatment based on ethnicity. With this biased attitude they also ask for donation in their bills! Train your staff properly. As a visitor to London this is shocking!
Superb, authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. Intimate restaurant with a fabulous vibe. Well be back!
Went hoppers not first time food was always amazing but only in soho I don t know that day food wasn t really teasty but is good place to go in general time not at night mostly
Rude place with medium food. Our reservation started at 20.30 for 6 we were done at 21.30. The amuse of cleaning spray was particularly zingy. Don t accept reservations you are unwilling to serve. Pure commerce, zero dinning experience, nil love.
The welcoming was very good, I was immediately seated and given some water. The service is great and the food was delicious. However I think the vegetarian dishes aren t all excellent - I was with vegetarian friends but I reckon it is worth coming back to try the meat dishes. The best orders of our evening were the daal and the potatoes filled dosa. The jackfruit stew was a bit bland so wouldn t recommend it. Overall an excellent place and very good price for the quantity they serve
Incredible food! Lots of vegan and vegetarian options, I struggle a bit trying new food but everything was delicious, full of flavour, looked great and the cocktails were very punchy (in a good way) :) The vibe was great and it was super packed so we had to wait a little bit for mains, and to pay the bill but other than that everything was perfect and Id highly recommend Hoppers!
Excellent. We had the jackfruit. Loved it
My dad and I came here a few weeks ago and had a great time so decided to come here for my birthday meal with the family, five of us in total. Our table was booked for 6pm and we arrived on time to find our table wasn t ready and the people on our table were still eating their food. Of course I appreciate that that these things happen but the lady who greeted me asked us to wait outside which wasn t great considering we were there on time. The staff did let the table know we d arrived and brought them the bill so we were sat at 6.10pm. We ordered drinks followed by food. My mango gimlet was nice but the two lagers weren t quite cold. The bone marrow and roti were as delicious as before and the recommendation for the squid was great. One of the ladies serving noted that it was my birthday from the online booking and said she d sort something out and returned with coffee liqueur shots for the whole table which was lovely but I can t drink caffeine. I told her this and she just shrugged and walked off. Not a great response. The rest of the food arrived and all everything was good save for the lamb in the lamb kari being a bit chewy and the rice was rather wet. No one asked whether we d like more drinks at any point and even when they took my empty cocktail glass they didn t ask. We would have had another round at least but didn t feel particularly welcome to. Overall an average experience, tasty food but lacking in good customer service.
We enjoyed our food outside so can t speak much to the vibe inside. This is hands down one of the best meals I have had in a long time. The bone marrow dish was especially out of this world!
Food was super amazing!!! And we met Saurav Ganguly!!!
Great cosy restaurant with nostalgic South indian/Sri Lankan decor. Food was delicious. Service was great Food : 5/5
We did the vegetarian menu which comprised of banana chips, three appetizers then main (dosa or hopper or rice +curries). It was delicious and I cannot recommended it enough!
Awesome food. Great experience overall.
Fish was good. Staff were smart
This is one way to destroy the authenticity of Sri Lankan Tamil food. Its all gentrified and tastes terrible to someone whos grown up on it. It almost has a weird North Indian influence which ruins everything. If you want authentic food, its best to stick the local Tamil-owned restaurants in areas like Tooting, Croydon etc.
Food was alright. The Appams were nice but seriously overpriced!
Excellent food, super friendky staff. Made our day in Soho!
I dont understand the Michelin recommendation. We ate there today, and the food was simply not good
Very authentic and fresh and tasty
So good.
It is very strange to charge separately for chutney when dosa is ordered. Please make it a single package dosa+chutney+sambhar.
The indian guy was extremely rude & misbehaving. He asked me why did i come inside where The door was open and it was my first time. i did not know that i will have to wait and press buzzer. He has refused to give the takeaway package. Avoid Food : 1/5
I was excited to dine here but a family emergency meant I had to cancel in the afternoon. I sent an email to reservations within the allowed timeframe and tried to find my original booking email but couldn t. I also tried to call but there is no phone number. I then received a call asking if I was coming which I confirmed no and said I had canceled my booking via the reservations email. They nevertheless charged me £80 for a no show . I have emailed reservations over ten times over multiple weeks and no response. Really disappointing and unfair.
It was an absolute hit this place! Super delicious authentic Sri Lankan food!. The dosas were amazing and the 3 curries were simply amazing. Super recommended! Service is super friendly and portions are very generous as well
Food is decent, not cheap but my god the music is awful in that place. Playing loud pumping house music?? Cmon.
Food was excellent, certainly a place to share dishes - we got so much and all was tasty. Try the hoppers too (like crepes to dip into sauce)
A great place on the Michelin guide! Food came relatively quick and it was super yummy! Tasted very authentic. For the quality of food, the price is also quite good. The staff was also very friendly. For booking, it is recommended to book online, but they also have some walk ins. The food was a bit spicy for me, but if you are into that you will enjoy it. Vegetarian options: good selection Dietary restrictions: yes Parking: soho square should be ok Kid-friendliness: yes Wheelchair accessibility: tight
We went here on our last night in London. We made a reservation 3 weeks ahead, and would recommend it. We were seated quickly. The ambiance was nice, dimmed lights and a homey atmosphere. We ordered from the a la carte menu. The mutton rolls were good, but the sauce was rather hot so it started the meal with quite a kick, would recommend the lassi for this. If you cannot handle spice, this is not the place as the food is amazing but it has quite a kick. We tried the paneer, the chicken and lamb curries and rice with podi dosas. The onion chutney is out of this world. The portions were really big, we had to take a lot of leftovers to go. All in all a very nice experience and good food
Great menu but lacking the punchy flavours we were expecting. The portions we re expected to be sharing but this is only true for the buriyani. Having said that, it s still worth the visit.
Enjoyed our meal and had a comfortable experience.
Had dinner on 20th April. Food and service were great. The standout was the egg hoppers. Amazing. Atmosphere was a bit muted. Food
Been wanting to go as it has been around for so long and i was so disappointed. Just very average/standard Indian/Sri Lankan food that you can get anywhere in London.
perfect deserves a star
Surprised our friend with a birthday dinner here and we had the best time. The actual restaurant itself was gorgeous and moody. Every dish we ordered was packed with flavour and the hoppers were perfectly made! We only wish we could order more. The staff were very lovely. The one thing I would note is that the booths are quite small for four people. We squished in tight and still had a leg hanging off the side. Quite uncomfortable for the duration of dinner but not a big deal at all.
Excellent food and great value for money. Some if it can be pretty spicy! Try the chilli cheese dosa!
Okay for Westerners, but not for typical Sri Lankans who enjoy hot, spicy food. Additionally, typical Sri Lankans eat mutton and not lamb.
Amazing food.
Fab dosas lovely staff, great crowd Went therr a second time, still great fresh cooked food. Recommended dishes Egg Hopper Appam
Transport yourself to the vibrant streets of Sri Lanka . This restaurant captures the essence of Sri Lankan cuisine with its aromatic spices, bold flavors, and hearty dishes. From traditional favorites like hoppers and curry to mouthwatering street food delights, every bite is a taste of the islands rich culinary heritage. With warm hospitality and an inviting ambiance, dining here feels like a mini vacation to Sri Lanka itself. Dont miss the opportunity to indulge in the flavors of this beautiful island at Hoppers !
We opted for the tasting menu. I would recommend if you never had sri Lankan food. The bone marrow was absolutely delicious, same for the Dahl, black pig, everything. I would go back again and again. Not extremely spicy but spicy enough!!!
Absolutely brilliant meal. Accommodated us having an extra person on our booking and the food was incredible. There wasnt anything I thought could be improved with any of the dishes we had. Service was friendly and efficient, and the food was such great value. Cant wait to come back on my next visit to London, but if you ever think of moving to Stockport or Manchester, Ill be the first in line!
Great food, fast service and awesome atmosphere. Would definitely recommend the Dosas, they were delicious! For main dishes, the chicken Kari was delicious as well as the Bone Marrow + Roti dish. Theres also many vegetarian options, such as the Aubergine Kari, and many others.
Added this place onto my list for quiet a while now and finally decided to try it out during the Easter holiday. Had the banana chips with a tropical beer to start with. The chips were the usual chips you can get from a corner shop but less salty. The IPA was light and fruity. The egg dosa with mutton kari weren an amazing combination. I also had the mutton rolls to take away, together with the rest of the kari that I couldnt finish. Only downside is the kari was not packed very in the small box and it leaked through the carry bag and almost got eaten by a dog on the Central line back home. Also, I cant see the tasting menu and no crab curry on the menu as well.
I personally feel these reviews are a bit disproportionate and overly positive! I was excited to try this place with a friend after researching different cuisine restaurants in Soho I d not tried before. We had chilli cheese dosa, hopper, aubergine & prawn curries & sambols. We found all the food decidedly average, the flavours didn t pop & honestly the curry tasted quite bland, like you d get just as good quality from supermarket. Really disappointed because the reviews made the food seem outstanding! Incredibly expensive for mediocre food. Also. We booked late so were cramped in the corner, my fault, but I found the rushed service & having to leave abruptly 1.5 hour after wasn t very relaxing. Wouldn t return
Absolutely fantastic
While I REALLY want to support Sri Lankan peeps. My beef roll was overwhelmed with cardamom, the bone marrow was very sweet and lacked depth of flavor, the shrimp was frozen before being cooked and I could tell that it couldnt soak up all the spices. The best part of the meal was the Hoppers, partha and seeni sambol. The service was excellent and the marketing and atmosphere was spectacular.
Love loved. Amazing service. Delicious food and amazing for veggies. Had aubergine kari and dosa. Soho exclusive cocktails perfect but one food star removed for the espresso martini equivalent bc it was undrinkable.
Nice food
Food was good but the pricing on masala dosas to not to include sambal and coconut chutney and charge extra was a joke!! My example is serving roast without gravy and mint sauce or chips without ketchup it mayo!! Come on guys you really dont need to scoop that low to charge 1.50 each for a tbspn for each !! Not cool and honestly for such a small item was a deal breaker for what could have been a great meal! Please sort it out thanks Bebe
Ordered via deliveroo - food was very good. Platter for two was delicious and it came within 30 minutes. Highly recommended.
Really bad service. Giving the bill at the beginning of the desert, no time to enjoy it. In the booking we was supposed to have the table until 22.30... Please dont accept 21.00 booking if you want to close early!!! Moreover to be sure we leave quickly, the team put the air conditionning, it was so cold.... The food was really good but we finish the dinner in a really bad mood.
Absolute deliciousness. Food was 5/5. I loved everything I ordered. Tables very small and extremely busy.
First time trying Sri Lankan food. It was amazing!!! Staff were super friendly as well.
Tasty food, lovely service, delicious hoppers! We arrived at 5:30 and they said they were fully booked but could give us a table so long as we were out before the next booking arrived (roughly 6:15) This was fine for us, but once they heard it was our anniversary they told us they could extend the table stay until 7! In the end the food was so delicious we ate really quickly and could leave for 6:15! The staff were so lovely and made us feel special even though we weren t booked in, and they even gave us a free drink to celebrate!
Average meal. 3.5, felt a bit rushed as soon as we said no to dessert the waitress brought the bill. Enjoyed the lamb kothu but portions are very small
Food was very good. Service was fast and friendly.
had a lovely lunch at this small restaurant. we had various koris and sambols with egg and string hoppers, plus devilled paneer, bone marrow and rotis. wonderful punchy flavours that we washed down with masala buttermilk. service was very friendly and efficient. we had a great time
I really liked this place! I couldnt choose the best dish because everything we ate was delicious: buriani, kari, dosa, starter, everything was delicious!! The place is small so I recommend for small groups and booking in advance from the site. We happen to share the table, personally it didnt bother me and we werent cramped. Friendly service with very useful advice, especially if not the type of cuisine. The bill was in line with expectations. I will definitely go back Kid-friendliness: Yes
Amazing restaurant
I did not expect the food to bang the way it did! 10/10 recommend! Food
Amazing food and service by Jeet and Aish! They were so kind with accommodating us to a different table when we asked them to and the food was delicious as always!
Of the locations I ve been been to, this is my favourite- much better ambiance than the larger ones. This was my first time ordering a la carte as opposed to the tasting menu, and I d recommend that on return visits to target the best dishes. The bone marrow is always a highlight - we had to order a second round this time! Chili paneer is also excellent.
Lovely lunch, gluten, will definitely go back, thank you. Dietary restrictions: They also have a gluten free menu, very accommodating with alergies Food : 5/5 |
Curry seabeam is my favourite will definite visit again! Their curries are not like any where elsd please do give it a try! Only downside is the seating area which has not left much room between each table. Food : 5/5
Great food and drinks , nice atmosphere, highly recommend
A must visit! Food was delicious, one of the best biryanis I ve ever had. Their chicken and lamb is halal. We took the chance of walking-in and had to wait around 30 minutes (was definitely worth the wait) but would suggest making a reservation in advance, especially for larger groups as the space is quite small. Although, it s a bit on the pricier end. Dietary restrictions: Halal chicken and lamb
Nice food.
Tucked away in a busy side alley of Soho, Hoppers beckons with its unassuming facade, distinguished by the revered red Michelin boards, signaling an epicurean haven awaiting discovery Promptly seated, we embarked on our exploration, beginning with a refreshing tropical beer that tickled the senses with its invigorating flavor. While my wifes selection of the Dumbulla Punch cocktail fell slightly short, the Mango Gimlet offered redemption with its subtle yet satisfying notes, albeit in modest portions. Our taste buds were sizzled by the fiery allure of the curry leaf peanuts, a flavorful introduction tempered with a warning for the spice-averse. Though the banana chips were passable, the butter squid and mutton rolls stole the show, delivering delectable bites that left a lasting impression. Transitioning to the main course, the chili cheese dosas danced with their harmonious blend of flavors, while the Egg Hopper left something to be desired in terms of complexity. However, the prawn curry and chicken curry emerged as true stars, each boasting a distinctive flavor profile that captivated our palates. Despite the culinary delights, the abruptness of being hurried out after 1.5 hours, while still relishing our mains, cast a slight shadow on an otherwise exceptional dining experience. While we acknowledge the necessity of table turnover, the lack of consideration for diners detracted from the overall enjoyment. In reflection, Hoppers stands as a testament to culinary ingenuity and excellence, earning a commendable 4/5 rating for its outstanding cuisine, intimate ambiance, and attentive service, marred only by a minor lapse in hospitality.
All the dishes we ordered were outstanding. For those who like spicy, this is the place for them
I cameleer for dinner with my mum and husband. We had to book as the restaurant is very small with only a few tables. We ordered a few different items from the menu to share. The food was incredible. The devilled paneer and the beef rib fry were outstanding and mopped up with multiple hoppers and dosa! The reason for only 4 starts for ambience is a woman and her daughter came in for dinner with no table reservation and got in an argument right next to our table for quite sometime. It ruined our meal a little as they continued to be rude to the staff. I would eat here again in a heartbeat! Thank you for the yummy food!
My go to place every time I m in London. It s a very popular restaurant thus the Reservation is a must. Perfect egg hopper. And I appreciate the good taste of egg yolk. (It s not often you get to taste the eggs that has a taste of which it should be. Mass produced eggs are tasteless) Srilanka in London! Recommended for those who love Sri Lankan cuisine. Hoppers, curries and chutneys are delicious.
Great food. Liked the curries. Prices are standard SoHo prices. The service of an already prepared food was quick obviously. I don t appreciate being charged 12.5% service charge and £1 charity donation without being asked. It almost felt like being asked to pay to just order. As we didn t need any other service . And to top it up with a £1 charity donation without being asked is very rude.
Want to be sick, go to this cheap garbage restaurant . Serving Unhygienic food causing food poisoning! #hoppersoho
Dont like their dosa , horrible taste, unhygienic
Bad food bad service
Please local authorities should visit their dirty kitchen as its bad smell from their dosa
Dietary restrictions: I need gluten free food and had a few choices. Food
Incredible food and cocktails. Loved the black pork curry and mutton rolls. Definitely slightly spicy but approachable for most people.
First time in a Sri-Lankan place and I just love the food. Very well flavored, spicy just right and served in beautiful dishes and settings. I will be back here for sure.
Unpleasant Experience I recently dined at this restaurant and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The staff exhibited behavior that made us uncomfortable and seemed discriminatory - refused to give us a proper back resting chair because we did not make reservation instead walked in. Though the restaurant had lot of empty tables and chair they just refused to provide one! The service was subpar, and we felt unwelcome. I hope the management addresses these issues to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all customers. Wouldn t recommend this place!
Probably a 3.5 would have been better considering their pricing as well. It is good but nothing exceptional.
First off Ill say that the food here is lovely. Masala Dosa lovely and light. We ordered prawn kari and lamb kari and both were packed with really great flavour. The portions were a little bit small. But the most frustrating thing about the experience was the speed at which we were ferried in and out. We had eaten our meal, paid and left the venue in less than half an hour. It felt like a cafe experience at restaurant prices. It was an anniversary meal so I was hoping to relax a bit more. Lovely food but dont expect to hang around for the price
Not good
