24 Great Windmill St, London W1D 7LG, United Kingdom
Great value, sustainable chop house and steak restaurant serving high welfare meat, all cooked over a charcoal grill alongside seasonal British produce in the heart of London's Soho. Based in the epicentre of London's theatre-land near Piccadilly tube station, Oxford Circus and Regent Street, our restaurant is perfect for dinners, lunches as well as pre-theatre and post-theatre meals. We look forward to welcoming you with a healthy dose of Chop Love soon.
Excellent steak place down a staircase in Soho. Doesn't take bookings so a bit of waiting (1 hour at 1900) was needed. Went to town on this one by absolutely taking all the good cuts - which was hilarious because they ran out of smaller sizes by the time I went and ended up with 3 chunks of over 700 g each of different cuts of meat. Nevertheless, they got seen to. Great kudos on the friendly and reliable service. Also something remarkable happened - the steaks were cooked actually as requested rather than a grade or 2 more cooked then desired. Great job for the temperamental world of steak restaurants. The wines were reasonably priced and had a decent range. Also did beers and some cocktails. Overall highly recommended in an excellent location in the heart of Soho
Well, it's safe to say that it's definitely worth all the hype! After booking a good few months in advance, we finally came down for our Christmas Sunday dinner! The staff there are super friendly and always checking in and cleaning tables, and the atmosphere was incredibly cosy! When the food came, the man was really lovely and explained where each piece of meat was before leaving us to enjoy. The food was unbelievable. I have honestly never had food like it, especially a Sunday roast up to that standard! I have never had beef with such flavour, and the pork was the best I have ever had. We were both too stuffed for dessert, but wow, was it great! My only nitpick is that my cocktail was tiny, but it was very strong. Personally, I prefer my drinks a bit bigger and less strong, but that's a preference! Overall, it was the best roast I have ever had! Would definitely recommend it!
We entered the amazing location, and we decided to let the chef "Francesco" to help us with food and wine combinations, after asking us few questions, he amazingly selected appetizers and main for us! The wine selected was perfect as well. The chef also managed to leave a tiny little space in our stomach, which allowed us to be able to try the amazing cheesecake made in house.. Service was incredible, waiters were always available if needed. Bill is perfectly aligned with the quality of the experience!
Blacklock never disappoints when you want a good quality steak. I have eaten at a couple of the locations in London and the food is always great. Good service, Phil was extremely good at his job and looked after us well. Came with 2 friends and everyone loved the meal and all came out of here praising the meal we had. Can't beat the big steaks! Always a no brainer.
Amazing Sunday roast. We ordered the all-in platter (pork loin, beef rump, and lamb) with all the trimmings to share with our friends visiting London. The meat was tender and juicy, and the Yorkshire puddings were fluffy. We enjoyed all of it. The service was great. Our waitress gave us more trimmings as we were also sharing the platter with our little one. Dessert was white chocolate cheesecake which was delicious. Overall a great place conveniently located for a casual dinner out with friends!
Meat, great quality meat, perfectly cooked and simple presentation! Service was good, a lovely waiter recommended dishes and they chose well. No fuss, and no messing around. Just good quality food and good service. Well priced, not cheap but still offers good value when you consider quality, service and location.
We had 750g porterhouse steak, medium level which was perfectly cooked. Meat was tender and juicy. Chips were also good, crisp and not too oily. Service was fast and attentive, our steak took 45 minutes to be ready. Atmosphere was lively. Love the place.
We had 750gr portherhouse here before and we liked it very much. This time we preferred 750gr rib. Their fries and cheesecakes are great. The meat is delicious but the service time is a bit long and the meat is not hot for some reason. It gets so cold towards the end.
Top price-performance ratio
Food and Service are more than excellent. Even during the busy Christmas season they keep the standarts high.
managed to get a last minute walk in for the Sunday roast. service was really fast once we sat down and the servers were very friendly, even making a few jokes with us at the table. the food was absolutely incredible! the portion size was huge and everything was cooked perfectly
Place was busy and we hadn t booked but staff found a table for us. Go early, at 5.30 already packed! Staff were friendly and efficient, food was excellent
Favourite restaurant in London tbh, it s always a good time and we book in for our next roast as we leave. The all in mon-sat is excellent value for money and the staff are brilliant - 10/10 lads would do again
Very good food at a reasonable price! Service exceptional - very friendly and doing the small things very well! Glass was never empty and gravy refilled without having to ask. Will go again.
Great place, Sunday roast is amazing
Have been a regular for mslany years, but last time the meat was a little over cooked, might have been a one off, lets hope!
Bit of a wait for a table but worth every minute as the steak was divine. Normally have peppercorn sauce with steak and was given an extra house sauce, which I think was Blacklock Gravy. I have a new favourite sauce now......
A small , busy , friendly place for casual dining , great quality meat and excellent service . Simple menu well done. Nice range of price options available from good to lavish, nice wine list. Vegetarian options: Limited but available. Its really a meat lovers paradise. Wheelchair accessibility: Only accessible by stairs
Fantastic chops. We always go for the All In. Beer is served by the schooner / half pint which is novel. Always a good vibe and busy; so a reliably good option in London. You usually need to book in advance!
One of the best experiences!!!!
I ordered their burger, thick cut chips and coleslaw. I cant fault the cookery of the meat but everything tasted a bit too bland and boring. Especially for the price! The cheesecake was nice but the spoon it comes with is better suited to eating soup!
Amazing absolutely the best Steak in London
Superb Sunday roast
They say its fully booked but a lot of tables are clearly available..
650g prime ribs cook with medium is really amazing! The best
My sister and I dined here last weekend. We had the pre chop bites, the all in with chips and parmesan kale as sides and a bread and butter pudding to share. I also had a pint of beer, a glass of red wine and what I can only describe as a boozy blackforrest gateaux drink. The food and the service were top notch and I would highly recommend Blacklock to everyone. The venue is in a basement and its compact but the tables arent on top of each other and although quite noisy when full it was still a great place to be. Thank you
Great service, lush dessert (get the cheesecake), damn good cocktails and its cosy inside so perfect for winter. Dont share the chips, you wont want to share.
Federico was fabulous, couldn t fault him. . Food was lovely but came out warm so went cold quite quickly. Hot plates would be ideal, especially as there s so much food
Absolutely wonderful place. Just a plain door in the street that opened up in to one of Londons best kept secrets. Food was delicious. Service from Nicholas was the best. Will be coming back very soon. Love, love, love this place x
Outstanding service which is rare these days! Stunning food that delivered on taste, quantity and quality!
Such a fabulous place! We walked in on a Tuesday lunchtime and managed to get seated. The place was buzzing and full of people having fun. Our waiter was brilliant and really added so much value. We ordered a 700gram steak to share- honestly one of the tastiest I ve had. And then to top it off my other half had the cheese cake and they gave me a free bonus bowl of cheesecake topping because I have coeliac disease and missed cheesecake! Just an absolute gem of a place! Would highly recommend, and even more so if you have a gluten allergy!
It was very good and not too expensive for the location!
Porter house steak
Very friendly staff, the garlic bone marrow is a good supplement to the sirloin. The fat included in the steak is a bit too much though. Chips are cripsy, but nothing special.
Super service by John, really enjoyed the food and atmosphere, definitely worth a visit!
Absolutely amazing food
Great place to take your mates for a meat feast - the All in is a great tasting selection and good value for a hungry table. Definitely this one on your list
1st dinner at London , good start . Wonderful all in platter , lamb was outstanding than pork/ beef . Remind to save some room for the cheese cake . Food : 5/5
Requires advance reservation, crowds, but nice experience Give me a complimentary solution The service is excellent
Fantastic and the service was incredible
A lovely, filling meal. The sauces accompanying were divine and the meat was delicious. A fabulous dining experience with exceptional staff.
Banging food wise as all blacklocks are but Id recommend a different branch over this one, its quite small and the service always feels rushed / intense.
Very good meat. Perfect service!
Delicious steak
Fun friendly red meat-centric restaurant.
A little bit noisy and cramped But unbelievable food and excellent service. It is so worth it. The chips are life changing. Food : 5/5
Love the food tasty flavoured perfectly. Too busy needed to book in advance. Staff are very friendly. Prices are okish
Service was great, the restaurant is small but very busy. The food was less than average for what I was expecting, we both had the pigs on toast which was great. Then we shared the chops. The starter thing they give you on crackers is horrid. Husband had a hot bottle of lemonade with loads of ice. There was plenty of meat but honestly Ive had better. The belly draft wasnt cooked well, we expect a crutch and the pork chop fat wasnt done. It was on par with a Witherspoon if I am honest. Portion of chips was poor. The gravy was lovely and I paid nearly a fiver for a bone with less than half a teaspoon of tasteless marrow. Wasnt worth the money if I am honest.
Delicious!
What a great Sunday roast dinner with all the trimmings and a massive Yorkshire pudding!
Great ppl, love the food
omg yum yum! delicious food and great vibes!
I normally dont leave reviews but the service was awful. We got seated in the middle of the restaurant and got our drinks ordered as my friends have gone to the bathroom. After that, it took 15-20mins to be noticed that we havent ordered yet. It was busy but not extremely busy to the point of needing to rush around. The waiters were focusing on the other customers and ignoring us. Some people who arrived after us got served first etc. Food was good, the meat was cooked perfectly other then the beef that was a bit over done but overall I give it a 4/5. Near the end, we asked for the bill in which the waitress said they will get the bill for us. 15mins later, still no bill. My friend was trying to get someones attention and was ignored. We finally got our bill after 10mins and the waiter was just silent during the process. Not asking us if we want our receipt and just stormed away after we paid, lmao Overall the food was good but disappointed on the service. Macdonalds has better service then this
London isn t about just fish & chips! Blacklock is a must have to go. We loved the broccoli salad with the amazing steak, and the dessert is speechless. Cheers from Brasil! Food : 5/5
As veterans of the Shoreditch and City branches, we were keen to see whether Blacklock could maintain the standard in a third branch. It was fully booked on a Sunday lunch and walk-ins were being turned away. Service was friendly and pleasant throughout and the rump Sunday lunch was really nice, with great vegetables and plentiful tasty gravy, succulent Yorkshire pudding and generous beef. It would be a travesty to not have the white chocolate cheesecake for dessert which was as delicious as at the other branches. It s impressive that Blacklock continue to maintain this standard in every branch!
Amazing food We had the sharing platter. Which was amazing. Beef dripping fries are to die for. Highly recommended.
My husband and I were very impressed with Blacklock! We found the restaurant by Googling Best steak in London . The host, Phil, was able to work us in without a reservation after 20 or so minutes. He was super welcoming and we loved his sense of humor. For an appetizer we ordered the bread & gravy and pigs head on toast which sounded interesting but came highly recommended by our server. (It was pretty great). For entrées, we ordered the Burger and bone in sirloin with a side of chips & meat drippings. Our server, Lucy, was phenomenal! She was on point with all the food recommendations, had an infectious laugh and was instrumental in making my birthday special! We would recommend coming to the SoHo location whenever you are in London!
Amazing foods and great selection of wines
Brilliant, sharing plates is awesome, as were all the sides, great staff too.
Great place, excellent food
Vegetarian options: Roasted Cauliflower Food
Reservations were not possible, which is actually very normal in a big city. When we entered, I gave my mobile number... and the waiter said, max 20 minutes and we will send you a message... 9 minutes later we could sit at the table. Handy system! The steaks were very tasty, and so were the crispy fries!! The waiter helped us a lot with translating/understanding the menu. The only downside was the noise in the shop...it wasnt really a romantic dinner...but otherwise highly recommended
A very warm and romantic dining environment and friendly staff. Booked a reservation on Monday night and it was still packed!!! However their most popular steak ran out but it s okay cause the other ones are still yummy!!!
Popped into Blacklock before a show, so was a little rushed to get in and out. But it worked out well, or almost did. The service was great, staff knowledgable and friendly. Had a fantastic boulevardier to drink. We ordered lamb, chips and a walnut salad. Great combination, chips had a great texture and flavour, crunch whilst fluffy on the inside. The lamb which rich in taste and perfectly cooked. What didnt work out? We didnt have time for dessert!! No cheesecake for us. Well you know what that means, I will just have to go back one day! And im looking forward to it!
Went for Sunday lunch and tried the shared roast. It was plenty and really tasty. I definitely recommend it although the beef was a little too rare for me so you may wish to consider this. The portions were plenty and the price was really good value. We had lashings of gravy as it kept being topped up and it was delicious. We also tried the cauliflower cheese which was just what I wanted, cheesy and crispy on top. Drinks were reasonable like most prices in London. Service was good. You absolutely need to book as many people were turned away.
Blacklock Soho is an absolute gem. The staff are incredibly welcoming and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. The food is simply outstanding perfectly cooked, generously portioned, and packed with flavour. The cheesecake is fantastic and the perfect way to end a meal. Highly recommend. Embankment Group.
Ate alone and loved the experience.... Comfortable in every sense, friendly/accommodating staff and great food.
Absolutely superb .. Definitely coming back and will recommend to all the tourists on my tours .. Thank You Food : 5/5
Wow,wow and wow we booked this place for Sunday dinner at 1pm and everything was excellent the friendly service of all the staff ,the food was amazing ,the atmosphere and ambience of the small room was great .We will definitely be back here when we are in town again
Typical English pub, excellent beer, lunch on Sunday taking advantage of the typical roast, chosen with 3 different meats: pork, Wellington and chicken. Everything excellent and well cooked, helpful staff.
I always have a great time at blacklock! First time since Covid and it s still just as delicious. We went all in and the chops were delicious - so flavourful and tender. Great sides too, despite being in a meat/chops restaurant, we loved the salads! I ll always keep coming back, so so good.
Really friendly service and great steak
Its an underground restaurant, so it looks unassuming from the entrance but you have to go through the inside door an down the stairs. The room isnt very large and filled up quickly after it opened at noon. Most people had reservations, but they tried to accomodate walk ins where possible. It did get quite noisy once the place was full, so not a place for intimate conversation. It was still packed when we left around 1.45pm. The service was magnificent. Massive thanks to our server who talked me through options that could cater to my particular dietary issues. We didnt get an official starter like mushrooms on toast. Instead we ordered the seasonal limited edition Christmas in a Bun and it was cut in half for us. For sides we got beef dripping chips and the broccoli salad with walnuts. Mains we got a sirloin and a prime rib. We got the garlic bone marrow to go with our dishes, which was outstanding. We were too full for dessert, but the white chocolate cheesecake looked like the one to pick. Or the other one that sounded nice was bread and butter pudding. The total for food and drinks (beers and a mocktail) came to £173.25 (including service ). Many people come for the Sunday roast with Yorkshire pudding. Think the cauliflower cheese is only available then. Follow here and the IG link in profile for more travel and food and drink tips, ideas and reviews! Vegetarian options: Its a steak house so you cant expect numerous vegetarian options. There is one meat-free main. Dietary restrictions: Ask for allergens information and you can scan a QR code on the menu for information too. Kid-friendliness: Ok for older kids not very young children or toddlers Wheelchair accessibility: Not ok for wheelchair users as theres no lift to get down to the restaurant it looked like
Got reccomended to visit the soho one, in Great windmill st. Went along today ( 20/11/2024 for my birthday. We had the all in & it was just incredible ,from the 3 tasters each & then to the main chops & chunks of various meats sat on fresh ciabatta bread which then soaked up all the meat juices..4 sides & also wonderful crispy beef dripping chips ..cannot fault a single thing. We had dark rich chocolate sorbet & also a zingy raspberry sorbet to finish both simply divine. The staff were attentive & so truly wonderful. I popped to the loo & on returning my sorbets were sat on an happy birthday plate with a lit candle glimmering away ..A very simple but a most beautiful & generous touch. I will be back there again very soon ..
Subpar, mediocre food. Everything was just very okay, which is poor value for the price. Other steakhouses offer much better fare.
Our steaks were cooked perfectly. The chips were amazing. The sweet potatoes were melt in your mouth. No room for cheesecake but will find that out once home. Lucy was amazing, impeccable service and attention and her recommendation of mixing 2 sauces really made the difference in the meal. Best meal and experience Ive had in London so far.
The roast was absolutely amazing however one waiter in particular really ruined the whole experience with his attitude, baring in mind this man was not our server just a very rude little man who needs a lesson or two in customer service.
Lovely place, great service!
Wonderful pub in terms of environment but above all in terms of quality of food! The meat is amazing and the staff always available to provide advice. Excellent beer and desserts
Nice experience for Sunday loast. Need to book a seat if you dont want to wait during a peak time.
This is one of the best meals I have ever had in my life! Great service too.
Absolutely incredible experience and meal. One of the best we have ever had! Took my dad as a treat and couldn t have asked for more. I asked the staff to do a little something special for my dad and they went above and beyond. Can t thankyou or recommend you enough. 5
Amazing burger and chops. The waitress was amazing and the beer was fantastic.
Was recommended to go here by a well travelled friend. Whole experience ce was great, place, people and food. Would 100% return. I also thought the meal offered great value too. Well done team Blacklock
An absolute must for Sunday lunch
The staff are really friendly! - sunday roast(all): The pork and beef were good! There were a lot of vegetables, especially the cabbage, which was delicious :) However, the lamb tasted fishy and was tough. I was very disappointed because I like lamb. I think the Yorkshire pudding was made well too. I liked that the gravy was not salty and did a good job of enriching the taste.
Very affordable place with good vibes and delicious food! Loved here so much. A piece of cheese cake was amazing too Food
Located in Soho, a truly beautiful and pleasant place! Excellent food, excellent service, prices in line with the quality of the food, the staff were super nice and helpful! Ill be back... for the Sunday roast on Sunday you have to book! I didnt do it
Chop heaven! Mouth watering food! We had the All In to share, a treat for the taste buds! Service was above and beyond, making my boyfriend feel as special as he is on his birthday! Highly recommended coming here if you want great service and delicious food!
Faultless experience. Wonderful fillet, surprisingly generous considering its only £22. Youre there for the meat, but its really worth mentioning how great the attention to detail is with sauces and sides. Probably the best bearnaise sauce Ive had in a steak restaurant, creamy and packed with tarragon. The Broccoli side dish was inspired, with fresh dill running through it. Asian slaw is also a winner - sweet, sharp, and cleansing with caraway seeds. Even my peach non-alcoholic cocktail was gorgeous. And finally, I was talked into trying the cheesecake (when I dont even like cheesecake) and I must add that it was delicious. Not too sweet, the biscuit crumb is broken up into lovely little rocks, and a beautiful jam on the side. Joanna and the team are super friendly as well, and couldnt do enough. Honestly, for meat lovers, why would you go anywhere else?
Nabbed a last minute day of reso. We got the Sunday roadty all-in meal but for one to share since we dont have big appetites. They were so kind to accommodate our request. All the meat was incredibly flavorful and perfectly cooked. Loved the beef, pork and lamb in that order.
Absolutely loved our meal at the Soho restaurant last Saturday. Food was amazing, cocktails were stunning and the service was first class. We will definitely be going back when we visit London again. Any chance you could open one in Norwich?
A simply brilliant T bone steak for two. Cooked to perfection, sides were delectable. Moody staff but maybe because we took a late slot. Reserve in advance or put your name down and explore soho in the meantime!
Ill start off by saying - the food was AMAZING. Me and my partner got the All In, the bites and main food came so quickly (the bites even came before drinks that we ordered at the same time!) , it was so gorgeous and cooked perfectly, the chips are to die for!!! However, the trouble began when we finished the main course. It probably took around 10 minutes for our dishes to be cleared away. Okay fine, its a Saturday, around 4pm, it happens. We eventually have it cleared away, and wait another 5 or so minutes to be asked if we want a dessert menu, yes okay wed like to see. Waited another 5-10 minutes to be asked what we wanted, ordered the apple crumble (so good btw!!), and it takes maybe another 15 minutes for it to come out. We finish, and we have it taken away maybe 10 minutes after finishing, wasnt asked if we wanted the bill. We waited 30 MINUTES for the bill!! Couldnt get anyones attention, no one came over, but they were quick to take orders from people who just sat down!! Eventually we grab someone whose cleaning the table next to us (from a man clearly also frustrated at the waiting times and the fact it took 10 minutes and 2 waiters to get a dessert menu... he took the service charge off), we ask for the service charge taken off. They ask why, and we say as weve been waiting so long after finishing the main meal. We get the bill, its wrong!! It was £138 when we maximum spent £70, no wonder we wanted to take the service charge off!!!!! They sorted the bill out and kindly took off the drinks and dessert so we only paid for the main, but it honestly left a sour taste in our mouths considering the price of the place and how highly rated the it is, it could be a really good experience with better staff. Also, way too cold in there!
Lydia was the most perfect waitress so informative and friendly food was PERFECT Food : 5/5
Best service I have had to date at a spot in London! Food was great as well. 10 out of 10 would go back
Amazing food, my son took me for my birthday. Staff were all lovely and the gravy is to die for !
We initially had a bad experience here with the all in platter but we gave it a second chance and are so glad we did!! This time we went on a Monday night for their butchers cuts and had the most incredible porterhouse steak ever. It was so juicy, literally melting in the mouth. Also their chop house sauce was absolutely delicious, highly recommend you order it! Their beef dripping chips were also very good, and the service was excellent, as it had been the first time too. Just go for their cuts of steak rather than the all in platter!
One of the best restaurants i have visit in London, if you want to taste a real steak , you have to reach this restaurant, the steak was amazing and the sides also, the staff is soo friendly , They will serve you as if you were in their home. The place was full, better to book a table before you plan to go .
Got the porterhouse 750g, it was really good, especially for those who enjoy leaner cuts. The cheesecake is amazing!
Excellent place, very friendly staff, good food
Love this restaurant, it never disappoints. Can recommend the All In option and you cant leave without having their famous white chocolate cheesecake. Really friend staff, great food and great value as well for what you get!
Amazing food, spot on hospitality, the best dessert (cheesecake) I ve ever had.
Just stopped off
Arrived at 6 pm on a Saturday night, and the wait was about an hour right on target as the hostess estimated. Unfortunately, our server was not very helpful with menu recommendations or advising on portion sizes for sharing, and she was largely absent after taking our order until the end of the meal. Thankfully, other waitstaff were attentive and stepped in when needed. Steaks, sides, and cocktails were all solid, and the wine on tap offered good value.
Solid Sunday roast. A little loud, a little slow, but they were very busy. Would brunch again .
We had lunch at this restaurant and were very pleased with both the food and the kindness of the staff. However, the wait times were quite long, as it took an hour for the meat to arrive. Despite this, the meat was excellent and perfectly cooked, making the wait more tolerable. The place is beautiful, with a cozy atmosphere that made the overall experience positive.
A 10! Dietary restrictions: Very attentive to the issue of gluten
ordered for take away, looked the man in his eyes and specifically asked for no compote on my cheesecake. took it all the way home to open it and see the same man covered my cheesecake in compote
Best roast I ve had in London so far
The best steak ever and the service is even better. Special thanks to our waiter Kamil for his recommendations and his service. Friendly and happy person always with a smile. The best of the best. Definitely Im going back
Our first Sunday roast was here, and we had a great experience. The picture doesn t make it justice but I was real good.
Nicholas was a fantastic guy who helped unbelievably and went above and beyond. Made the experience what it was! Fantastic service all round. Good food too.
The best Sunday roast Ive had
Its a bit hot but the servers are really nice and welcoming and the food is delicious!
I had the Sunday roast and it was the best of the three places Ive eaten so far. The pork in particular is surprisingly tender. The picture shows the amount for 3 people, and 3 men could eat it all.
Very authentic and cost-effective, it s best to go early Warm and thoughtful service
I may have said this before, but this is one of the best meals I have ever had.! Maybe one of the best meals you may ever have!!!!! In the top 2 of my favourite chop houses!!!
Had a great Sunday roast dinner and nice drinks after walking all day. Make your reservation in advance. Ours were made five months in advance only because we planned our trip in advance and flew from Oregon. My 2nd Blacklock Sunday roast ever. First one was in Shoreditch a couple years back. Can t wait to come back to London.
Bad attitude of staff, do appreciate its busy but seriously, the staff need to work on their attitude.
This place is no joke. Flew from Singapore and knew had to give their Sunday roast a try. Did not regret. Where have you been my whole life?
A genuinely amazing Sunday roast! Both meat and vegetarian options were incredible, with all the sides adding to the experience. Staff were friendly and attentive and the venue wasnt too crowded.
Tried my first Sunday roast here and it was incredible. Lovely place in a great location!
We came for Sunday roast and enjoyed it a lot. We ordered the all-in, which includes 3 types of meat along with your typical Sunday roast items and it was delicious. I especially liked that it also came with 3 additional sauces along with the gravy, so there was more variety of flavors. Definitely recommend making reservations, some people lined up as soon as possible to try to grab seats and there werent any available.
Fantastic sunday roast!
Everything I wanted and more. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was a total vibe. Do yourself a favor and save room for the cheesecake waitress came out with the entire pan and scooped out the most delicious cheesecake I ve ever had with a side of berries. Can t wait to comeback!!
James, our server was the loveliest. He we so attentive and honestly made up 50% of the reason why we enjoyed our dinner here. We were out for a little celebratory dinner and felt so special. The food was tasty and well presented. We had no reservation, but was able to put our names down for a waiting list, had a drink in the pub beside it and got a text saying our table was ready within 20minutes.
I mean it was quite pricey. We got a steak medium rare for like 22 pounds and it was quite chewy. I mean like I had to chew for a good minute. Maybe medium is a better choice. We got the all in and only a few cuts were really nice like the pork belly or the lamb. The others were just chewy again. The starters that came with it were really nice. The sweet potato side was well made the fries were just like normal good fries, nothing special. The only reason this is a 4 and not 3 star is because of the cheesecake. I dont know if you can define it as a cheesecake but it pushed the review up by a whole star. They charge you 12.5% for service charges, so be careful!
Busy and buzzing atmosphere. Great service and location. Perfect for a preshow meal, the food was amazing totally recommend
Best of the best, nuff said.
Dined for anniversary dinner. Reserved a table a week before, the waiter was very cool, fun and congratulated us for the event. The food was amazing! The dessert white chocolate cheese cake was the craziest! I d love to buy one every week for my house
Average food. Nothing special, wont go back
Brilliant steaks great cocktails amazing sides. Best Blacklock in London
I ordered a medium-rare steak but received one that was almost well done. The service was practically non-existent, and the black pepper sauce was far too salty. The waiter only brought me water and then added a 12.5% service charge without even asking. I have no idea what kind of service was provided to justify such a high fee. I had to wait 5 minutes just to get my bill why the delay?
We sampled three different steaks to experience a variety of flavors. Each was well-seasoned and perfectly cooked. However, a downside was that sides are not included you have to order everything separately. The service exceeded our expectations. The two waitresses were exceptionally friendly and attentive, promptly refilling water as soon as they noticed it running low. One drawback was the restaurant s ventilation. While its expected that a steakhouse would have some strong aromas, the lack of proper airflow made the smell of meat and fat a bit overwhelming.
Team meetings at BL is always good. Ordered off the chalkboard - 850 porterhouse- 850 prime rib - 650 something else. Full house on a Thursday lunch time is always a good sign that this place is doing well. Took 20 mins to cook and the meat was well rested. The chef knew what he was doing. Medium rare. Recommend as always. Great service.
Amazing place. Staff super friendly, and the food was delicious. Highly recommend the chop sauce, pigs head on toast (not as bad as it sounds) and the cheesecake. Wines amazing, and atmosphere nice. Highly recommend, especially in Winter as it ll be nice and cosy. Not cheap though!
The meat wasnt great but the cheesecake was very delicious and rly woth the price. service also very friendly
Amazing food, very welcoming and cosy atmosphere. Our evening was made by the exceptional service by Fred, who was kind and friendly with advice (and a very generous portion of cheesecake!). Would recommend to anyone.
Had a great time, was taken care of wonderfully by Tom, Megan, and Jo! The steak was tender and juicy, and the chips and béarnaise sauce were delicious as well. The wine was not bad, but I d order a more full-bodies red next time. My only gripe is that it was very warm in the restaurant, bordering on stuffy. Otherwise had a lovely experience here :)
Lovely tender food.
Need to book 3 months in advanced
Great experience for my first day in London and I just casually walked in. The food was great and nice location. Great for meat lovers.
Delicious food, highly recommended again! The grilled cauliflower in particular was better than expected steak was also great, and the white chocolate cheesecake was definitely worth it.
Sunday roast was 5*. Great quality good and good value.
Very tasty! The high Google reviews are not fake. It s my first time to eat such delicious white chocolate cheesecake. I will definitely eat it when I have the opportunity to come to London in the future!
We had an amazing time at Blacklock. Had some very nice laggers and steaks. The service was amazing, our waiter was very attentive and charismatic. We were also kindly given a few complimentary items.
We had a very late Sunday lunch here and glad we did. Both the service and food were excellent. As we all ordered the same thing, they piled all the foods onto one big plate. They looked like a mountain when first brought out to us. Highly recommended.
The beef is tender and delicious, highly recommended!
Definitely the best steak we ve ever had in London. Reservation is definitely needed! We arrived 1-hour early before the time of our reservation, and the staff kindly accepted our early arrival, which we truly appreciate it! We ordered the 900g prime ribs for two people, and it was so delicious! They roasted the meat perfectly with medium, no blood coming out, and the meat was still pink and tender! We also had the bone marrow, it was tasty too! But we found out it might be nicer to pair it up with some bread because of the nature oiliness from the marrow. We didn t order the bread because we were too full, and would love to try it again when we revisit next time.
Typical English pub with very good meat, well priced and very nice.
Food 10/10 . Service best we had in London Lucy was awesome! Pleasant / quick - the happiest I ve been
The restaurant is very beautiful, the atmosphere is nice, the food is nothing better, especially the burgers, you have to order them, and the sweets are dangerous
Simply the best Sunday Roast in London!
Perfect food, amazing atmosphere and even more amazing was Chris who looked after us so well, what a guy, we all loved him!! Highly recommended xx Food
Simply great meat with very good service. They speak Spanish and the service is exquisite. We come back again and again.
Amazing meat and excellent service. Of all the places Ive been in London, this is where I ate best.
First time at Blacklock and will definitely be back. Food, service and atmosphere all top quality!
The staff was friendly and the food tasted good.
Recently came to Blacklock prior going to a theatre performance and will definitely be coming back! I came with my family for an early dinner and the service was fantastic. We were told upon arrival that the steaks were about a 20-30 minute wait as they were needed to rest before serving. I had the cauliflower steak with what I believe was a garlic butter oil / sauce and it was absolutely delicious highly recommend! My family had the meat steak and both said it was delicious too! The atmosphere was brilliant and the service was fantastic. Nothing too much of an issue. Thank you for an excellent experience and evening. Again, I will definitely be coming back!
We got the All In with 4 people, and though it was tasty, the ratio between pork, beef, and lamb was a bit off. There was way too much lamb, and very little beef. It was tasty, but not mind-blowingly good as I expected it to be. The beef-dripping chips were delicious, as well as the sweet potatoes. The cheesecake was a bit too buttery for me, but my dessert-loving friend enjoyed it very much. The cocktail I had wasnt too spectacular, and quite little for the 9.5 pounds. Service was great and very polite. Minor note: the table where I sat had a spotlight shining right on my face, but I didnt want to awkwardly ask the staff to move it. Overall a nice lunch experience, but it didnt meet my expectations. To be fair, I think I set them too high.
While we had to wait for a table the experience at Blacklock Soho was exceptional. The service provided by Ellie was friendly, informative and prompt. Jo, the manager, was amazing in catering for one of our partys health allergy to pork which made this a totally enjoyable dinner. Highly recommend this restaurant, the food and the people.
Very nice experience in UK stake
We ordered the All In for only £27 per person and it was totally worth it! It came with a huge pile of meats and we especially loved the lamb. I usually don t like lamb, but here they cooked it perfectly. The garlic marrow sauce was a great addition and went well with everything. Highly recommend!!
Great juicy steak, but what impressed the most is their service! Don t miss this place if you visit London.
Thank you Daniel and team for the excellent food and service. Cheesecake was even better
A place recommended by a guide when I went to Brighton! As for the real Daejon-tasting beer, I prefer lager over ale, and it comes with thin ice like Halmaek! If you eat just the steak, you might get hungry, so I recommend eating it with a salad. Lastly, be sure to eat the white cheesecake with ice cream. You will regret it if you dont eat it!! The staff was so kind and bought us a dessert at their own expense. Thank you for giving us a pleasant meal in London
Good experience and Victoria has phenomenal service !
Incredible lunch at BlackLock Soho, we had 8 people come for lunch and all very happy with the experience. I messed up and booked in at the wrong branch but they were able to accommodate for this which was incredibly good of them!
We visited for a family meal. The food is wonderful, some of the meat was rarer than normal preference, but the flavour was superb I had thin chops of belly pork with sweet potato and broccoli and walnut salad which was amazing. The rest of our party were very happy with their options. The restaurant was busy but service was generally good, Highly recommended
This place is good but I prefer the Covent Garden branch. I ordered the sixth rib eye steak for me and my wife and unfortunately it was a touch too salty for both our palettes. The pigs head toast was wonderful and I would recommend it. The famous Chop gravy was also too salty but thats a matter of personal preference. The crayfish cocktail wasnt really polished in terms of the cocktail sauce being a bit...well, bland. Im sorry to say, but I much prefer the Covent Garden branch to the Soho branch much more and its not even close.
Celebrated my birthday there and we received amazing service by one of the staff (I can t remember his name unfortunately! I wish I did!) one of the best steak and the beef dripping chips was amazing! All in all, must go, make your reservations! Amazing team!
The food and the service were amazing. Visiting from Ottawa, Canada and my friend and I booked a reservation for our trip back in February.
Good food Good service Attentive staff Ordered the sirloin sunday roast, the beef was amazing, veg was cooked perfectly, yorkshire pudding was good(but not the best), re-filled gravy was only oil but it was alright coz the first batch tasted just fine.
Great food at ana amazing price. Try the rump cap. Beautifully soft. Well worth it and for the money incredible
our cab dropped us off at the wrong location. the host at Soho was kind enough to seat us anyway (on a Sunday evening no less) the roast was fantastic; we went with the All In to sample everything. and the white chocolate cheesecake was amazing too. couldn t recommend more!!
Absolutely love Blacklock. Meat lovers paradise! One major gripe though is the booking system. I find it quite hard to believe that 3 months in advance I cannot get table on a Saturday night at 7pm?
Great atmosphere and food
Excellent service, surprisingly good cocktails and great porterhouse steak with fun sauce options. Really enjoyed dinner here.
Had a dinner with friends for my 19th birthday and it was wonderful. The food was cooked well and the cocktails were great as expected. Service was the key note for our time there unfortunately didn t get the waitress name but she was phenomenal! Took lots of pictures and the staff were attentive to top up our drinks. ordered rump steak, grilled baby gems, fries and gravy Was also surprised with their famous white chocolate cheesecake and a candle for my birthday, It was adorable. I d come again! Vegetarian options: My friend required halal / vegetarian option and they were very helpful and attentive to advise her on her options and were careful who they handed alcohol too thank you for this accommodation.
loved it. The atmosphere is great, and the staff is very helpful. The food is delicious, though. Overall, it was a fantastic experience!
Best roat dinner I ve had in a restaurant. Polished my plate of to nothing.. and I m a fussy eater but that was 10/10. Highly recommend to anyone.
I feel like I am cheating a bit as this is my favorite restaurant in London. The food and service are suburb. The Sunday roast is perfect. I will sometimes eat here twice on a business trip. I go for the Sunday Roast and then for the standard dinner. I am never disappointed.
