Heard lots of good stuff about Kiln and finally got a chance to visit. There’s no booking but we managed to get our seats pretty quickly. Love sitting at the counter and watching the chefs cooking with woks, grilling and the clay pots over charcoal. The highlights of the night were the glass noodles in clay pot and curry chicken livers. They are so good! My friend wasn’t a fan of chicken livers but she enjoyed the dish a lot. The John Dorry was alright, was expecting it to be more flavourful. Overall good service and would love to come back to try other stuff on the menu.
Well made delicious fresh and really tasty. Food was great and I really enjoyed the simpleness of each plate. Staff were attentive very friendly and always present. So appreciated! Location was great, central London. Place was cozy ~ bar sitting only. Where I sat it was close to the grill, my face was very warm but no complaints since it was rainy and chilly outside. Enjoy myself.

Really flavorful north Thai dishes, I recommend the clay pot noodles. The staff were lovely, in particular Miranda who gave recommendations, seated us downstairs very quickly and was super attentive to our needs! Would defiantly come again!
Fantastic restaurant in Soho offering Thai inspired recipes in a unique "open kitchen" setting. I really enjoyed my time here and wish I could have tried the entire menu since it's great for sharing as well. Loved every single dish I tried and definitely recommend it if you like bold and interesting flavours. Wine list is solid as well. Price unbeatable for the quality and location. 5+++
I had a really nice meal here. They don't take reservations, so we queued before they opened on Sunday. I highly recommend it to be well prepared before you come in, you may have to queue for a while. The food is stunning and super delicious. It brings me to a street market food place in Thailand. We sit at the bar closely watching them preparing the food. Very good experience here.
A modern take to Thai food. I have been going to Kiln for a while now, and the first time being almost 5 years ago. The food here is still good to this day, but the menu hasn’t changed much. Everything is delicious, and for the quality that it is I think it is well priced. I also love sitting on the booth and watching the chefs cook. However, i do feel that if you sit downstairs, the experience is completely different and can be a little underwhelming. I also think that it did not give me the same kind of wow factor as the first time I tried it. Don’t get me wrong, the food here is still amazing and still worth going to.
I recently dined at Kiln in London and had a mixed experience. The food was absolutely outstanding—each dish was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The standout for me was the vibrant, authentic Thai cuisine that clearly showcases high-quality ingredients and skilled preparation. The customer service was equally impressive. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall dining experience. However, the major downside was the temperature inside the restaurant. It was brutally hot, making it quite uncomfortable to enjoy the meal fully. It felt like there was no air conditioning, which is something they urgently need to invest in to improve the dining experience, especially during warmer weather. Overall, Kiln offers great food and service, but the lack of air conditioning significantly detracts from what could otherwise be a perfect dining experience.
Very delicious Thai food in London! They only do walk-ins now, definitely recommend getting there early to secure your place in the queue. We got there at 5.30pm on a Friday and were called in at about 6pm. All the seats are around the bar which creates a really immersive experience and vinyls are played on their record player which creates a nice atmosphere. The food was really delicious. We started with the grilled chicken and lamb skewers which we had to order seconds for because they were so good. For mains we had the glass noodles and pork curry which were very nicely spiced and super comforting in the typical British cold weather. Well worth a visit!
The atmosphere of the place is great, you have to wait about 1.5 hours for a table, but after signing up in the queue you receive a text message when a place becomes available. Unfortunately, the minuses were a weak starter (boiled chicken - medium) and a very spicy curry, which the service lady did not adequately inform us about. I know that food in Asia is spicy, but even when I was in Thailand, I was told it would be spicy and I advised people to be careful. I asked the waitress which curry she recommended, she said one was very spicy and the other was spicy. I took the less spicy one and yet I think it took away from the pleasure of eating. Normally, being informed about the high severity scale would have saved the matter and the experience. The pasta from the 3rd photo is very tasty. The menu changes often so I will definitely come back :)

Probably the best/most interesting meal I ve had in London this year. All the dishes were chock-full of flavour, with top quality ingredients shining through the red-hot chilli punch that most dishes here seem to pack. Almost every dish was a hit and there were only minor disappointments: the Cull Yaw skewer was sold out within 15 mins of opening, which made it feel like a marketing ploy rather than an actual feature of the menu. The cocktails were also a let-down. Full of flavour, yes but not nearly boozy enough for the price paid (the one glass of wine we had would not have been much to drink by itself but paired brilliantly with the food). Lastly I need to address the issue of the Jungle Curry dish. This was the most challenging dish I ve eaten in a long time: seriously chilli-laden and full of vegetables I was unable to identify. The smoked fish with the deeply umami-infused broth was a revelation and this could just be the best dish being served in central London at the moment BUT it felt like very poor value for £14 given that it s essentially a soup with a miserly piece kipper on top. Overall though, I would highly recommend this place if you want to get away from the endless variations on brown plates of food served up in many of London s eateries. The flavours here are seriously forward and impressive and the chefs are doing a top job with high quality ingredients. Just go (and arrive early to snag a seat!).
I am certainly glad I tried it after so many months of hearing the hype of it and seeing it be one of the most sort after restaurants in London. And I see how they are appealing to foodies and those who want to be part of the scene. Would I go again anytime soon? No. Not at least for a year. We had some nice dishes, including the rump cap, autumn greens, chicken and soy. Cooked very well. The shrimp relish was far too spicy, I saw other customers complain about it too. You couldn t even tell if it was shrimp, it just felt like soggy breadcrumbs (or something like shredded paper) inundated with chilli, and some bitter greens with it that didn t help counteract anything- the balance was really off. The sour curry was ok, but balance was off and it was really watery. Sticky rice, dry and like cardboard, and I ve had far better at my local Thai places. Clay pot noodles, fine, but again just not sure what was particularly unique outside of glass noodles with some sauce and char based on the fire cooking. Good ambience and staff make an effort, but outside of people desperately wanting to be part of the scene, I d say try once, tick it off, but find much more interesting and authentic Thai places where you don t have to stand outside in the cold for an hour.

I can see the hype of this place. Not many places in London can replicate Southeast Asian street food, charcoal grill and all, and capture its simplicity yet tough execution. Our mackarel was amazingly tasty, as with the glass noodles; and the grilled chicken was sheer joy, which I can easily have everyday with some sticky rice. That said, Kiln isnt perfect either. I didnt know wtf heap of mess that duck laap was supposed to be. Unbalanced and disgusting texture. The old sheep cumin satay was slightly tough, and frankly, it wasnt up to par to an avg tokyo yakitori bar and not what one would expect. Kiln has some chinks in its armour, but still a nice place to head to when you cant get to Vientiane and sit by the Mekong. Service was laid back. Weird cacophony trying to be cool music from cheap speakers achingly agitates the ambiance. Try to sit upstairs instead and watch the show.
Glass noodles and the John Dory, what a glory
Southeast Asian restaurants recommended by KILN Michelin The main one was so spicy that it made me cry, but it was so refreshing. It felt like the chili peppers were all spicy from millet, and it was so spicy that it hit my forehead. The main dish is pork and it is half-cooked pork. I personally don t like pork, let alone half-cooked pork, but his family is still good at making it. It doesn t taste like pork. If you want spicy food to satisfy your craving, this is a good choice.
Awesome experience and service. Very tasty and flavorsome Northern Thai dishes. The sausage and clay pot noodles are a must try.
A restaurant fantasy. I warn you that if you dont like intense flavors, spices and daring food, this is not your place. For everyone else, it is your ideal place. A very creative and delicious meal. Well priced and very friendly staff.
Very bad, tried it twice
We ve always been a fan of this Thai-Asian fusion restaurant. The open kitchen adds to the vibrant atmosphere, and the menu is designed to encourage us to order tapas-style, perfect for sharing with a friend. Among the many dishes, the glass noodles are our absolute favorite. The menu is constantly evolving with the changing seasons, and the prices are very reasonable.
This place is definitely worth it, it s small with only counter seating so the wait may be long, but the food is awesome. I found this place online with many people recommending it and they weren t wrong. I ordered the kebab, sausage, and clay pot; all were excellent. Definitely would recommend for great Thai food while in London.
Food and drinks are decent. Especially skewers and slow grilled chicken. Keep taking to my friend how delicious they are when eating. The service was great until the very last moment when I encountered a series of rude behaviors while making the payment. I noticed an error on the bill, and after it was corrected, the revised bill was rudely handed just in front of my face. I attempted to tap tap area twice, but the card machine didn t respond. My phone was then rudely taken away without permission to tap quickly. So far I was still trying to be considerate. Then the payment failed and I was about to switch to another card. When I just reached out to the receipt, the card machine was taken away quickly again. Throughout the entire process, there was no communication or explanation and it all happened so quickly with bad manners. Can t tell if these are his intention. But I am sorry, I have to say those behaviors continuously ruined the whole experience.
The food was delicious, the decor very nice, and the waiter gave us great advice. Remember to come early, because it is very popular: arriving at 5:30 p.m., we ate at 6:30 p.m. I highly recommend!

Kiln Soho A Thai Culinary Paradise I can t recommend Kiln highly enough! Having visited twice in one week, this restaurant has solidified its place as my favourite Thai dining spot in London. First Visit: A few years back, I first visited Kiln on a friend s recommendation her Thai fiancée, a doctor, had called it her favourite Thai restaurant. She wasn t wrong! We were seated downstairs after a short wait, and the food was nothing short of spectacular. The Thai sausage was irresistible, the service was impeccable, and the team were attentive, well-mannered, and fun. It was an experience that stayed with me. Lunch Visit Years Later: Fast forward to a few days ago: after a morning meeting, I couldn t resist stopping by for lunch. This time, I was seated upstairs at the bar, directly facing the kilns and the grill. Watching the chefs in action was a highlight of my meal! I ordered: Northern Thai Herbed Sausage Still as incredible as I remembered. Radish, Beetroot & Carrot Salad Freshly prepared and vibrant. Pounded BBQ Beef with Todoli Citrus Absolutely sublime. Annalise, my host, was brilliant, helping me select the dishes. I also had the pleasure of watching Hartley s first day on the grill his skill was incredible. He even recommended his favourite the BBQ beef. Second Visit That Week Dinner with a Friend: A few days later, I returned with a friend. We arrived around 9:30 PM and waited about 45 minutes for a table. The wait, however, was enjoyable as we caught up over a glass of chilled white wine recommended by Patrick (I think that was his name). Once seated, the food was again phenomenal, with the same depth and layers of flavour that Kiln is renowned for. However, the sticky rice was slightly overdone and quite hard something the lady seated next to me pointed out, and I had to agree. A minor hiccup in an otherwise exceptional dining experience. Kiln is more than just a meal; it s a celebration of passion for cooking and dedication to excellence. The chefs take immense pride in their craft, and it shows in every dish. Must-Tries: Northern Thai Herbed Sausage Grilled Bavette with Smoked Chilli Glaze Slow Grilled Mackerel The ambiance, the food, and the team s warmth make Kiln a truly memorable experience. Winter evening, cold and rain. With 2 children. They made us wait inside and immediately freed a table. Excellent service, exquisite food with solutions suitable for the little ones. Really top.
Came here recently for dinner on a Saturday night had reservations so we were seated right away downstairs. The restaurant is fairly small. Our table was shared with another party. Food was just okay, nothing really wow us. Tried the Jin Toob with Miyagawa (meat was too tough), Slow Grilled Chicken & Soy (too bland), Laap Sausage, Slow Grilled John Dory (no flavor), Mackerel Salad, Sticky Rice, Three Pepper Jowl, and Radish Salad. Prices are reasonable but portions are on the smaller side.
I decided to go Kiln because i had a recommendation from a friend. It was a first date dinner and the person i met has been so mamy times to Kiln and she used to love it. My experience was a nightmare. The waiter was so nice and professional and she suggested to have a drink before our spot was ready for us, 10/10 experience. Once we sat, we ordered dishes and something to drink. The wine was really and so its the beer i ordered but the tap water was not even close to be drinkable, it tasted like chemicals. I like spicy food but the first meal we got was not eatable! Not even for native Thai! The other plates were just ok, and we even left food on the plate. My expectations were so high but i felt so dissapointed, i usually dont give such low stars rating but this time i really need to rate Kiln with 2*. I attach the few pics i took because after the second dish i lost interest in taking pics and our mood was ruined. Maybe it was just my experience, i hope guys who work there will improve the food and expecially the tap water!
Genuinely a great place. The staff never stopped moving and were attentive. Yes you have to queue to even get on the list to sit at the bat, but we were lucky and there for an early dinner so did nit have to wait the 2 hrs some people were, by the time we left! Great vibe, tasty, interesting food, and I would go again.
I don t think it is authentic at all and the taste was not as good as expected. It was so crowded inside and the seating was not comfortable at all. If you are looking for authentic Thai food, I won t recommend you to this restaurant!
Really really good in terms of almost everything! The foods are very delicious and professionally cooked. How they use spices and how they cook are well mastered. Ingredients are very fresh and clean. The logistics and organisations are in a good manner. Services are very friendly. And it s really good for the value. Highly recommend.
Nice place. Kind of hyped but the food was good and a very nice wine bar atmosphere. Some spicy stuff was reaaally spicy, and nobody thought of warning us about that, so careful.
I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The amount of food was too small. Besides, what really stood out was the extremely poor service. The staff was rude and unhelpful, making the entire experience unpleasant. Bad Bad Bad.

Not worth the wait or the cost. Disappointed that there were no glass noodles on the menu. After waiting 30 minutes for a seat and another 40 minutes for the food, the grilled whole fish was decent, but the sautéed greens were overly salty. The seating area was extremely noisy and crowded, with people constantly standing behind me, waiting for tables and frequently bumping into my seat. This made the entire dining experience uncomfortable, and the stools added to the discomfort by straining my lower back. Service was great and friendly. Be aware that a 12% service charge and a $1 donation will be added to the bill without prior verbal notice or consent.
The person on the door was extremely rude to us. We arrived and there was a long line at the door. It was our first time there, and so we weren t sure id the people were waiting to get their tables or to give their names. Someone from our group went to the front to ask the person if we should wait at the back of the queue or whether we give our names and come back later. The person responded something to the effect you are wasting my time with this question, just stand in the line . After our meal we mentioned that we found his behaviour very odd and rude to which he responded that he doesn t care. His name is Rob and he claims he is the manager. The food was okay, but not worth the 2 hour wait. We were rushed to leave after 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Overrated & overcrowded place.
We went on the weekday at 6pm, queued over 1.5hrs to be seated. Overall experience was not worth for queue at all, it s not about the amounts of portions, I ve been to Laos , Thai, Yuannan multi time and what they got inspired from are well too basic, I couldn t feel any connections from these places at all, they are not known to use the ingredients and seasonings for the dishes , most of the food are flat tasted. We came with pretty high expectations and what we had was insanely disappointed.

Crazy amazing food with incredible vibes. The energy in here is next level, everyone is having a good time. You enter into a dark space, and light and warmth coming from the kitchen of coals and grills. They really KNOW spice. We were a group of 4 asians and it was spicyyyyy, BUT a good spice. FLAVOURFUL. Also the meat was cooked to perfection. A gorgeous sear yet so tender. Cocktails were quite nice but would be better if it could have a little more attention, a little more depth to better match the journey that the food can take you on. Ate here a few times. Best if you can get a table downstairs. Some of the curries are super spicy though so make sure you ask the waiter if your spice tolerance isn t very high. The clay pot noodles are a must have! Vegetarian options: Plenty of options for veggies.

Ordered the grilled rump cap, grilled soy chicken and claypot noodles - all were a hit! Was a good experience watching the chefs prepare the food in that open kitchen service crew were attentive too!
My favourite restaurant. Never known anywhere with a vibe like Kiln. Always 10/10. Will always try and come to this restaurant when I m in London. Love it so much.
All my high expectations of trying this place were dashed by the person taking reservations at the door. Once the queue was over (9pm), he informed us that the first available table would be after 1 hour and 45 minutes. When I pointed out that it would be 15 minutes from closing, he smiled at us with superiority. Its a shame, I hope that this negative experience of mine can be of help to others.
We didnt have to queue, 12.30 on Sunday. We took the advice to order 8-10 dishes for our party of 4, to share. The portions were very small, barely enough for a taste of each. Even the rice portions were small. There were about 8 mussels in the mussel dish, tiny pieces of kipper in the kipper dish etc and we were left hungry. One dish was left out altogether as it was not brought to the table and it was possible to miss this as everything came out in random order making it impossible to know how to pace our eating. At £100 for 4 I was pretty disappointed and embarrassed for my guests, especially as the previous time I had visited I had enjoyed the experience. Dietary restrictions: They were vague about the gluten free options and it very much restricted the sharing choices.

Food was extremely average, regardless of the long wait. Definitely overhyped. Noodles were very burnt at the bottom, meat fat wasnt fully rendered, and overall not worth the wait. Felt pretty unwell the next day.
Spectacular flavors
I honestly don t understand the hype surrounding Kiln. The food was far from what I d call authentic Thai, and nothing we tried was cooked properly. Every dish we ordered was either underwhelming or poorly executed. It felt like they were trying too hard to be innovative at the expense of delivering proper flavours. To make matters worse, the staff were too arrogant to address our concerns. They seemed uninterested in finding out why we were dissatisfied, which made the experience all the more frustrating. Given the reputation this place has, I expected much more. Sadly, we left feeling disappointed and like we d wasted our time and money.
The food was so nice but a bit too spicy for us.. The beer was so good! It was pretty light so it went well with spicy foods. Claypot noodle was my favourite menu. One waitress made a mistake of serving the food that we didn t order, and there was a miscommunication when I told her that we didn t order that menu. She walked away when I apologised and was trying to explain the situation. I m pretty sure she didn t intend to do it, but wasn t a pleasant experience. The atmosphere was really nice but the background music was a bit too loud as we sat right under the speaker. Overall, it was a nice place for dinner!
No reservations taken. Food came out when ready, 1 hour between the first dish and the last dish coming which is absurd. The flavours were underwhelming, the glass noodles had no flavour and minimal meat. No chopsticks which was odd. Over rated eatery.

Wonderful experience at Kiln the other night. The claypot noodles and monk fish curry were delightful (as was everything else). Love the youthful vibe inside too.
10/10 experience. what more can you ask for; banging authentic Thai food, chat with the chefs whilst they prepare your food and casual warm settings cosy with the blaze of the fires. I mean there are highlights but all the dishes were on point. Cull Yaw cumin skewers, slow grilled chicken Soy, claypot noodles and that fiery laab stood out from my continuous visits there.
Everyone that hyped up this restaurant is lying. We ordered the soy chicken, thai sausage, clay pot noodle, red curry monkfish, and sautéed soy vegetables. the first three dishes ranged from decent to good, and we were happy to pay the price for those that we ordered. Our gripe really comes down to the last to dishes. The monkfish is £24 for two golf ball size pieces of meat. Understandably, monkfish is an expensive ingredient, however transparency is much appreciated when you are that comfortable charging your customers for that amount. The large gap in pricing also mislead us to believe it would be more substantial compared to the rest of the menu. the red curry seasoning was bold and vibrant but the monkfish was oversalted. This leads to my next point about the soy sautéed vegetables. It felt like these leaves were washed in salt water, marinated in brine, and cooked in reduced soy sauce. The salt was so infiltrated in every cell that even diluting the dish with fresh water couldn t solve the issue. Although we didn t eat this with rice, rice would not have helped either. I also suspect that the leaves were overcooked and limp. As an Asian person, I have had my fair share of sautéed vegetables, so it feels weird for trained chefs to mess up something so basic and ubiquitous to Asian cuisine. I think whoever designed the menu that made the dish to be this salty is egregious. We know this decision was intentional, as the staff had to warn other tables that this dish is salty. I feel like enough people had to complain about this issue for staff to become aware, and instead of listening to customer feedback, you still chose to serve bad food. I cannot in good faith recommend this restaurant to neither food lovers who are willing to pay the price for a novel culinary experience nor to those who are just looking for a decent meal at a good value, because Kiln is neither of those things.

Modern take on thai food. The chicken liver was interesting, tasted almost like satay. Som tum with cockles was light and refreshing to cut though all the herbs and spices in the other dishes. Laab sausage was a much better choice than the grilled chicken. Place was quite cramp. I have people brushing again my back the whole night while I was eating cos I was seated near the door. Wait can be quite long, now that they dont do reservations anymore. Go up to the host and leave your number for them to contact you once the table is ready.
**If you don t have a reservation and are trying to walk in prepare yourself for a 2 hr wait.** I think this is truthfully a 3.5 star review. Really what brought down the star is the wait and procedure to get seated. We came on a weeknight and put our name down with the host at 7:15 pm. Estimated wait was 1-1.5 hours. We got a text to come back to the restaurant at 8:45 pm, but unfortunately we waited to be seated against the wall of the restaurant until 9:20 pm. God bless the host who was trying to juggle seating, putting people on the wait list, and also bussing tables and bringing orders to those seated. He was trying his best and it was just too much for one person to manage, and it was hard to track him down. not sure if it was just an off night, but the over 2 hour wait with 30 min of standing in a narrow hallway waiting to be seated really killed the dinner mood. On to the food, which was delicious! Most were small plates and meant to be shared. Not ur typical Thai food but an amalgamation of Thai and south Asian flavors and inspirations. The highlights we liked were the clay pot glass noodles and the chicken liver with pickled garlic. Flavors were fantastic and so good we added another chicken liver order. The northern thai sausages were also delicious. The other dishes were good to so so. The jungle curry with mackerel was unfortunately the weakest dish. Watery sauce, salty but lacking in flavor, with mackerel with spines still stewed in the curry it was not memorable and felt like an afterthought. We also had a dish with cockerels with marinated cucumber and many were not open so harder to eat. Atmosphere: small restaurant with counter seating on the ground floor and table seating below. Casual and you can see directly into the chaotic kitchen where the action happens. I will say sitting by the grill would be much warmer and perhaps difficult in the summer. Not great for families with children and those that need accessibility access. Service: servers were great and took time to make recommendation. Everyone was nice and courteous despite a chaotic night with a lot of diners. All in all, there were standout dishes and perhaps coming for lunch is the way to go. But I m not sure the food is worth such a long wait. Was really excited to come here, but the food was very lackluster and inauthentic. Felt like a poor attempt to appear to be Thai food, but just failed.
Very rushed, also very cramped downstairs (two couples on a four person table which was far too cosy, also this was after a long wait despite booking). Expected some great food, some were really tasty but the fish curry was too bitter to even eat. We were still finishing our cocktail and food when the bill was slammed down. Overall food was worse than expected, for price as well, very disappointing

Food was over hyped and over priced, was really looking forward to the monkfish curry but for £24 we got 2 tiny mouthfuls of monkfish and the curry was quite bland. The pork loin was 75% fat so that was disappointing too. Had high expectations and was disappointed, especially for how much we paid - would not recommend.

Really great food, definitely got a bit of a kick to some of the dishes as you would hope and expect. Sitting at the counter is always a fun experience. Great service once you are seated. There is always a bit of a wait but you can have a drink while waiting. Good cocktails and the tamarind iced tea helps you keep your cool.

Food took a while to get to us. The pork chop ribs are okay (slightly overpriced). It was cooked with very fatty pork. Half of the pork pieces were just fat with no meat on it, texture-wise it was not quite pleasant to have a mouthful of fat and not meat. I am not sure why this meal is so expensive. I am confused as to why this is rated as the top Thai restaurant in London and why it has a 2 hour wait. Vegetarian options: There are not a lot of vegetation option (only 3)
Cant fault the food. The glass noodles and the steak were favourites! Loved the chicken and soy too. However our evening was pretty let down by the 3.5 hour wait. I understand on a Friday night it will be busy and we were totally prepared to wait but they let us wait in the queue for 1 hour before getting to the front to tell us it was another 2 hour wait from there, which turned into 2.5. It wouldnt take much to let people know before they wait for an hour, and Ive never been somewhere which is so off with estimating wait times. Good food but have had food just as good with a better system in place. A real shame.
This restaurant was mid. After seeing it in multiple different videos, recommended by celebs, and various lists, we decided to check it out. We sat in the basement with no windows, no air con, no fans. We were sweating our nuts off from the moment we sat down. Service: mid. You can t change anything on the menu if you re not keen on an ingredient. If you have the 3PM reservation, unlucky, as they will pressure you to make all your decisions as soon as you sit down as the restaurant closes soon. Like don t offer the reservation if you don t want people to order more food. Food: it s the only saving grace but it s also not AMAZING. Much better places to spend your hard earned cash on in the area
Its completely OK to have a walk in policy. However, if you have to policy to text back for a table, then you have to do that. We get your a busy, popular restrant. But, leaving people hanging and not texting to say you wont get a table is polite, and ensures the people that want to eat at your restrant dont ruin there night. I went back to the restrant to ask how things are going with the queue, and couldnt get any details on if the booking would happen and when (in time to change my plans) Pretty rude really. Also very embarrassing because I ruined the whole night for all my friends because I said we should go to kiln. Restrant looked cool tho...
I guess its fine to sit in the second half of the restaurant, but the first half, by the door, is just not pleasant. You have people standing behind you waiting for a table, the door constantly opening, and people screaming because the music is just too loud. Its almost like they make it unpleasant in order to favour the turnover.
This is an expensive novelty experience. Food is pretty authentic. Spicy. Youll be going somewhere else afterwards however to get a proper meal as youll still be hungry unless u r prepared to spend £70+ each or have the appetite of a sparrow. £6+ for 1 small sausage as an example. Go for an experience not if you actually want a meal. Jollibee is good afterwards.

The food was decent, but extremely overpriced for what they are, even for a central london spot. Considering the price, it is very much underwhelming. The bar floor also blasts music to a point where you have to shout at your friends, if you like that you like that I guess. Wouldn t recommend.

WOW. Kiln was extraordinarily brilliant. I have been trying to get in for months and tonight was our moment! We had the best evening. The food is exceptional, so are the drinks, but for me its the whole package : the music, the vibe, the design, the lighting, the staff. its all 10/10 brilliant. Its the perfect autumnal/wintery restaurant to hunker down in and fill up on warming dishes in a really energising, casual, sexy atmosphere. My new favourite spot without a doubt. Will be back for noodles!

Delicious Thai fusion food. I loved the place, the format and the food. They serve without reservation, waiting a little. Apart from the bar upstairs, there are also a few tables downstairs. On the bar you can hang your things on a hook below. Wines and natural cocktails. Paint! One of my favorite places in London right now. Its not very expensive for London.
The quality of food at this restaurant is very good. They excel at spicy Thai flavours, and all dishes are really good. However the staff could do with some significant improvement. We ordered a specific dish as part of our meal and it never arrived. After asking for it after waiting for 45 mins we were were rudely told that it had sold out . No one had told us at the point of purchase that this dish had run out, so we were expecting to be served it. We were not offered anything else. We also waited a long time for the pork dish. Whilst it was delicious, no one told us at the point of purchase that it took 45 minutes. Staff generally were all over the place. Drinks took a long time and dishes were served as hoc and not in a logical order.

Ive been coming here for a few years now, and while the food remains consistently excellent, there hasnt been much change in the menu over time. That said, everything they serve is full of flavour and well-prepared, making it great value for the quality you get. One of my favourite aspects of dining here is sitting at the counter where you can watch the chefs in action its a vibrant and immersive experience that really adds to the meal. However, I must say that dining downstairs offers a different vibe altogether. Its not bad, but it lacks the same energy and can feel a bit underwhelming in comparison. Although the initial wow factor I felt on my first visit has faded slightly with time, the food at Kiln is still top-notch and absolutely worth a visit. Whether youre new to Thai food or a seasoned fan, this place wont disappoint.

Yum! Delicious! I was a bit warm sitting at the bar in front of the open kitchen and their open grills but I saw first hand the wonderful symphony of ingredients used and the easy choreography of the chefs within a tight space. I am so glad I had the chance to experience this food. The overall combination of flavors were tasty and not overly sweet (thank goodness!). This is definitely a return visit restaurant.

Mid September 2024. Such is the buzz for Kiln that the arrival felt a little claustrophobic - tiny restaurant with a queue of 30-40 odd people, many of whom gathered inside around the door and right beside the tables. I had people pushing me when trying to proceed to my table where my boyfriend was already seated. Thankfully we had a table downstairs which was much quieter. Although for those who wish for the visuals and for those who can handle the heat, upstairs may have a more fun atmosphere with more visuals to admire. We ordered the following: -Soy glazed chicken thighs. Good but not life-changing. Juicy. Crispy skin. Only a lime to squeeze on top - felt like it was missing a flavour pairing drizzle or sauce. 6.5/10. -Bavette steak. Perfectly cooked medium rare with the most glorious bed of what tasted like an elevated teriyaki, with lots of other zesty flavours and some crunchy toppings. So good! Arrived an hour and ten minutes after ordering. 8.5/10. -Cul yaw and cumin lamb skewer. Seared beautifully and deliciously seasoned but still fridge cold in the centre. 4/10. -Cornish greens and soy delicious, light, really umami 8/10. -Claypot glass noodles. Pretty good. 7/10. -Hake curry - Such a taste sensation! Tasted the sauce alone first and found it to be very sour, yet, when you have it with the hake it all comes together and is heavenly. Really delicious dish and harmoniously sweet, salty, tangy and sour. 8/10. We got our dishes at odd times and most came slowly, but the steak arrived much later than everything else and I was getting full up before it arrived. This is something you should forwarn customers about. Service was friendly and sound.
Walked in on a Tuesday and waited for 30 min to be seated. Good experience to sit by the counter and feel the warmth of all the claypots. Small portion of food, I personally found the dishes too salty but fairly, full of flavours.
This was my fourth visit and I ve consistently enjoy the food, flavours and the regularly changing menu. Between the two of us, we shared the aged cull yaw skewer (nice), grilled langoustines (the sauce on them was amazing), three pepper jowl and belly curry (good flavour and level of spice), lap mee grey mullet (had it with the curry which cut through the spiciness and rich ess) and the claypot noodles (so good, a must). The service was helpful and friendly.

Cozy, energetic spot with a bar overlooking the kitchen upstairs and a straightforward 4 table dining room downstairs. You ll need a reservation. Small plates. Incredible straightforward cocktails. My favorite was a cacao-mezcal and strawberry puree cocktail. Chefs kiss ferrr sure.

Ended up there for a late lunch. The place has a good vibe and service. Found the food to be a mix of hit and misses. Really enjoyed the glass noodles, stir fry greens, rump. The sour curry was ok and the mutton was just overwhelmingly spicy. I think the recommendation of 6 7 small plates is a little high, I would recommend 4 5.

The food was great, prices are reasonable, and the chef is nice but everyone else seemed like they were in a huge rush to get you out and were pushy and short with everyone. made it feel fast casual and kind of ruined the experience!
The staff was SO rude to the point that it ruined the taste/experience. Our server (long haired guy) pressured us into getting dishes we didn t want even though we said we wanted different items. He told us what he suggested multiple times and stared flatly at us when we chose the wrong choice. The bar area is small and we overheard the servers talking poorly of customers and joking about their nationality. There was some other stuff but I don t feel like those were bad enough to get into. The food was good but not good enough to be belittled and endure such bad vibes. I m sure all the servers aren t bad and clearly many people love the food but I m merely sharing my experience and I wouldn t go back again.
Amazing Thai restaurant with spectacular food! Super tasty and exquisite, truly capturing the authentic flavors of Thailand. The staff were incredibly professional and friendly. The only downside was the 1.5 hour table limit, which felt rushed, especially when enjoying the experience. I believe the restaurant could maintain profitability even with a slightly longer table time given its popularity. Allow to stay at your table for at least 2 hours.
The food is obviously the selling point. And it s incredible great menu. But difficult to understand the menu without waiter explanation. I ve been 3 times and still struggled to get it. Both wines I had were terrible. Cocktails also poor. Which is a shame for such a great food offering you d hope the drinking offering would be a great pairing. Also just service was very slapdash. Felt I had to chase waiters, no real check backs. It s become volume over quality.

Would have loved to give this place a great review, the food was great. I got a lamb dish and got maybe 1oz of meat. I left hungry and 25£ poorer. The whole point of eating is to get satiated and this restaurant miserably failed.

I wanted to try out Kiln for a while - I went for a solo trip on a Monday lunchtime. I feel like this place would be better to go to with more people, as a lot of it is small plates, you get to try more things. It s a bit tricky with just one person, which is a shame - so I ll be open minded and try this place again. So I chose the claypot noodles and the soy greens and a cherry soda. You can sit at the bar or the open kitchen or there is also a downstairs with tables. I really enjoyed sitting at the open kitchen watching the food get made and the interesting and charismatic chefs cooking. (Note: Don t sit here if you don t like sitting in hot places) The person serving helped me select my choices as I wasn t sure about how many dishes to choose (2-3 per person - I chose 2 because I am not a person with a huge appetite - sadly). Really enjoyed both my dishes, though only comment was that together they were a bit too salty for me. I did ask near the end if they could give me a box for my leftovers (they don t offer this), so I did my best to finish everything. I enjoyed my time there, the food was nice but it isn t stand out to me, though as I said, I d try it again with more people to get a better idea of the whole menu. Vegetarian options: It didn t seem like there were a lot of vegetarian options on the menu.

A very cool restaurant with first-class food and a great team! I was here with my 19-year-old son and we really enjoyed the visit. The dishes were excellent and offered little surprises. The non-alcoholic drinks were also creative and delicious. You have to allow for a short wait.

Service was also great as we were advised on how many dishes to order and their levels of spice. We ate 75% of the menu. We were sat opposite the open grill/flame where they cooked the food so it was HOT. If youre sat here get you water with ice and prepared to be permanently flushed Ive been here once before a few years back but this second experience with the (updated menu?) was better.

A site that will soon become, if it is not already, a true reference in the city. The prices are not exaggerated at all, knowing the area it is in and the product they offer. We had to wait half an hour but it was worth it. They serve quickly and the food is delicious. We ordered a stir-fry of vegetables with a light sauce, a red hake curry that was just right on the spicy side and very tasty, some noodles that werent anything out of this world, but were still very good, and a kind of stuffed sausage served in four cuts, accompanied by some very spicy peppers. I handle spiciness very well, but those chiles were too much. However, the sausage was exceptionally good. However, the strong point of this place was the chicken. I have never eaten chicken as juicy and as good as the one I ate there. You probably wont do it again anywhere else. Exceptional, impressive, only for the chicken I would repeat. It is very worth booking at this place. He has the makings of being one of the citys great Thais.

We sat downstairs in the basement the music was far too loud for a room that s small especially those sitting right under the speakers. The first thing waitress said to us was the menu can be confusing - then why not change the menu to make it clearer. We were told to pick 5-7 dishes for 2 people, and the portions were incredibly small - definitely charging Thai street food at 20x. When the red fish curry arrived it looked and tasted like tom yum more than curry, fish was like sardine and full of bones which was just unpleasant to have. The only rice available was brown rice, why is there no Thai jasmine rice? No chopsticks or knifes were offered which made it hard to eat some of the dishes. Kiln is marketed as Thai street food but I don t feel like it captured the essence even slightly, this place is at best fusion Thai and marketed for the western community at extortion prices.

I really enjoyed the food in Kiln. They changed my mind about Thai food. I read reviews before I went and a bit worried about the atmosphere as some people said they didn t like. For me, totally fine! It was perfect for a casual weekend lunch. I sat at the counter with my boyfriend, the staff were very nice and gave me lots of information whenever I asked them questions about the food. I loved Laap sausage, also Glass noodles were full of flavours. I love cooking and cook lots of different types of food at home but I won t be able to make the Kiln s glass noodle. I ll go back for it for sure. My two teenager kids were more interested in Sushi on the day we went, so they had sushi in a shop along the street and came later to join us. A lady staff happily welcomed them in and made space for us at the basement floor so we all could sit down together. The pork took a long time to get to the table but we were told it would take 45 minutes to cook when we ordered so we were okay
