Wow, what exceptional food, it s our new favourite place in Islington. My only complaint was we couldn t tip by card, next time we ll bring some cash. Food

This restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience, with a few standout dishes worth highlighting. The Beef Vine Leaves, as a starter, are a must-try. They are flavourful and beautifully prepared. The Lamb Chops were cooked to perfection, juicy, and packed with flavour, making them the highlight of the meal. However, the experience wasn t without flaws. The baklava with pistachios was a letdown, lacking the freshness one would expect. The ambience could also be improved, as the bright white ceiling lights detract from the authentic atmosphere the restaurant aims to create. Service was a bit slow, likely due to a large group dining at the time, but it didn t overshadow the overall meal. I d definitely return to explore more of the menu, as the quality of the main dishes shows great promise.

We absolutely love Liman, everything about it is wonderful. Really lovely friendly people, amazing food, great atmosphere and good value. The lamb chops in particular were out of this world!!

I went to Liman for dinner with my friend, and it was an amazing experience! The food, service, and atmosphere were all top-notch. The chopped lamb was incredibly flavorful and tender, perfectly prepared. And the konafa for dessert? Absolutely wow! One of the best Ive ever had. Highly recommend this place for a fantastic dining experience.

One of my favourite restaurant in London. If I have to choose one dish, it s got to be Lamb Chops!! So tender and yummy!

Its kind of a basic-looking place, but the food is excellent and so is the service; My starter of courgette fritters was tasty and not at all oily. My main of grilled bream was really good and plentiful, with two good sized fillets.

We absolutely loved our lunch here. We opted for the lunch special which was 2 courses for about £15 as it had everything we wanted. It was a steal! We were with our 3 year old who ended up falling asleep just before the mains were served so they kindly packed up his order to go. There was also a toddler seat in the bathroom which had a refreshing change as they are so rarely seen! Would definitely return! 5/5!

Excellent food. The chef is the owner. The kitchen is open so you can see the food being prepared. Good selection of Turkish wines. Definitely plan to visit again next time we are in town.

We regularly eat Turkish food, but this restaurant took it to another level! The food was absolutely delicious, beyond our expectations. The staff were lovely, and the service was excellent. A special shoutout to Funda, who was amazing her dish recommendations were spot on! We live in the neighborhood, and this will definitely become a regular spot for us. Huge thanks to Funda and compliments to the chef(s)!

We had an excellent lunch, each of us having the very reasonably priced 2 course set lunch plus a couple of extra starters between us, superb calamari and braised aubergine. The flavours were very fresh, falafel were not at all dry and the lamb kebabs were beautifully cooked , juicy and still a little pink. Our waiter was great, friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself is attractive. We will definitely return.

Popped in before going to the cinema, just to grab an early light dinner. We had a few of the small plate dishes to share and they were excellent. I particularly liked the scallops and king prawns which were cooked perfectly! The braised aubergine was also really tasty. The waiters were extremely pleasant too. Definitely a nice spot for a date night. Will definitely return. Tip top.

Had a very pleasant dinner there. We had a mixed mezze, scallops and halloumi to start, followed by sea food casserole, lamb shank and salmon. All dishes were delicious and well flavoured, good service and chilled atmosphere. I can t wait to visit again to try more. Highly recommend.

Liman is one of the best Turkish restaurants I ve experienced. Excellent quality and variety of food, fresh and cooked to perfection, with good portion sizes. The ambiance is good and the seating well distributed so you re not on top of other guests. The restaurant is always clean and consistent. Service is ok and the maître D is reserved but in control. They are very accommodating with times, numbers and children. I have been here many times and am yet to find something on the menu that wasn t pleasing. I d highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, especially fans of Mediterranean cuisine.

A wonderful restaurant! Islington is full of restaurants, but Liman is far superior, and thankfully not on Upper Street. The owner is also the chef and so the quality of the food is his reputation. The food at Liman is so delicious, with a wonderful range of interesting starters, meat , fish and vegetarian dishes. The staff are always friendly, welcoming and helpful, particularly Ahmet our waiter.

The food was great, both the lamb stew and the skewers were as tender as butter. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience, with pleasant background music, tasteful decor, and very friendly and efficient staff. Well visit it again

On 7 July 2024, I was one of 4 covers and had a Lamb Skewer with salad and rice. The lamb was on the rare side and I thought that was how it was meant to be. It made me violently sick and the loo was my friend all night. Service, Atmosphere and portion sizes were good but getting sick 30 mins after my meal was a downer. Approach with caution.

A bit more of an upscale vibey Turkish restaurant with mood lighting and acoustic covers providing background ambience to the bustle of lovely staff and open kitchen serving up large tasty portions. They do a vegetarian moussaka!

Really tasty food with excellent service. The staff were very accommodating to food intolerances and it was a really nice evening out with great ambiance. I can t wait to go back again!

best turkish restaurant i ve been to, take away is exceptional as well

Food was tasty, only had a starter and main, but meat was good amount, the bread and salad was a bit stingy especially the rice portion. It was so tasty though, we were hungry but made do. We was going to eat in but decided the weather and are room was enough for us to stay home. If you eat in you would probably be fed better.If you are going for a delivery, ring for your order and pick up and check it before you leave.

Fantastic, had the cold meze appetizer which consisted of a number of delicious dips and warm bread. Also had the grape leave appetizer and baklava for desert. All wonderful and friendly warm service. I d come back!

What an amazing find. The food was absolutely delicious and I wouldn t hesitate to recommend Liman. A table of two, we shared a hummus to start. My wife had the chicken shish and I had the lamb beyti - everything was beautifully cooked and perfectly seasoned. As for the baklava some of the best we ve ever had. Service was warm and friendly. We ll be back. C

Was meaning to try this place for some time, finally went at the weekend. Glad that we did, great food, service and ambiance, will certainly return soon.

My friend and I visited Liman for the first time on Sunday. We ordered the hummus, halloumi, falafel, tabbouleh, warm goats cheese salad and veggie moussaka - everything was delicious. They have great vegetarian options. We also tried their margaritas which were 10/10. Loved the music playlist also :)

Delicious food, service ok, waiter not the most attentive, we ordered some side dishes that he didn t deliver. Atmosphere ok, a bit too loud, sat by the main door, people coming in and out leaving the door slightly open, it was cold and not very relaxing.

Hard to fault, service was great, atmosphere had a nice buzz about it on a Thursday evening, all the food we ordered was superb especially the salmon and the courgette fritters.

Came here for a late lunch on Thursday and was pleasantly surprised how fantastic the food was. Lamb kofte and lamb shish were one of the best we ve had. The meat was so tender and all the sauces were obviously homemade. The set lunch menu was reasonably priced at 17.90 for two courses. Baklava was divine.

Huge servings, very nice service and chill atmosphere

I booked for a group of 5 people and the booking process was nice and easy. I had to wait for an email confirmation which didnt take too long to come. The food at this place is brilliant, really fresh and full of flavour. Very tender and juicy meat cooked perfectly. It was a real treat. The staff are friendly and the service was decent, however they were short on staff so when the restaurant got busier, the service became slow.

Easily one of the best restaurants in London!

The lamb chops are next level. Seasoned and grilled PERFECTLY. Had the Berries mix (cold meze, hot meze and meats) and it was very tasty. I will come back to try the rest of the menu! Lovely and quick service as well. Cute and cozy vibes. Overall, great dining experience.

Without any reservations, bustled into Liman Thurs ~7pm.. place was full but got a table for 2 With the heater blaring on full blast (thank you!), the vibe was cozy.. and comfortable Servers were hyper-attentive.. and made us feel very welcomed Got two starters + two mains Starters Halloumi fries: aaamazing! better than average, some of the best I ve tasted in London. Fresh halloumi.. heated to perfection.. bathed in a light oil and vinaigrette.. served w/ warm buttered thin lavash-style bread and tomatoes Falafel: solid! Crispy, fresh and what you d expect from a good Mediterranean restaurant. Humus was good.. though could have been more of it given four falafel pieces (nobody wants to bite or chew dry falafel!) Mains Salmon: good! On par with expectations, nothing to write home about.. 7.5/10. Spinach with the dish was tasty Sea bass: tasty though the tiny bones weren t my favorite. Accompanying mashed potatoes and spinach were delicious Likely will be back.. great vibes, welcoming, cozy, healthy food. Was great for a first date where music wasn t too loud and atmosphere wasn t over the top

Very solid Turkish meal. Some great starters and really good portions. Main meat dishes are good but need a bit more flavour, service a little absent. Would recommend for decent sized groups.

Food was nice - great selection of dips but service wasnt great. We had to ask several times for drinks and they never came until we asked a third time. We had the banquet starters and mains but only had the waiter come over once at the start where they took the order.

I was having a lunch in a Sunday but had to come back home due a emergency call from work, so I took the main food as take away. Well, it was really delicious. I will come back and post some pictures next time.

I genuinely enjoyed my experience of this restaurant - service & food we re great! We ordered - Grilled Salmon - Sea Bream - Liman Ellie s Salad - Fresh apple juice TAKEAWAY - Chicken kebab with yoghurt I personally had the sea bream and tried the salmon both were really good! I hear the chicken kebab was good also! Had the following not happened, I would have marked this a 4/5 star experience for sure! 1. We ordered the chicken kebab to go for a friend but there was a mix up with our order and I think the two waitresses pressed separate orders for our kebabs, one regular and the other with the yoghurt we wanted the one with yoghurt and waited quite some time for it As we waited we got the bill but were charged for both kebabs even though we only ordered one! This was quickly resolved however which we appreciated. 2. More importantly, I had food poisoning later that evening from my food, I knew it was from there as I hadn t really eaten much aside from toast earlier in the day as it was a particularly busy day. It was so disappointing as I say the food was enjoyable on all accounts but yes it certainly didn t end well for me sadly.

Good Turkish grill. Not over-smoky(given its location, quite difficult to have charcoal griller) the lamb chop tastes juicy. The rice pudding is also lovely. Great service.

Great food without doubt

Visited for a team lunch (11 persons) we pre-ordered the starters and mains so everything went very smoothly. Amazingly I think it was all cooked by 1 chef ! And the place was busy. The food was excellent as was the service. Good range or pale ales (bottles) and efes beer. Everyone rated their food (see pics) cant fault this place. Excellent Thank you

Rude attitude

About a 7 minute walk from Angel, this restaurant offers a decent selection of Turkish cuisine. Like most places, the menu has increased in price - youll pay about £6 - £9 for a starter, rising to £18 and more for a main. I had the mix grill for £25 - still rather expensive for a few pieces of meat and rice imo. The quality was good though, cooked well and the lamb and chicken were tender. The only issue with this (small) restaurant is they really pack the tables in, it feels a little cramped and conversation with friends was a little strained as a result. Overall a decent choice for an average night out meal, rather than a special occasion.

Turkish in London which isn t Halal, so I decided to get the Cauliflower which I was really disappointed with, I had to drench it with the sauce, which actually was really nice, just to get some flavour. The fish my friend ordered was very nice but nothing really wow. I won t be going back, the staff weren t attentive and I didn t feel like it was worth the money.

Mindboggling food, best food I had in london crispy falafels, creamy hummus, juicy chicken and mutton chops. Loved every bite of my food.

Amazing dinner. Couchette fritters were a big hit as was a Cacik. Moussaka was very good but wouldn t get it again.

I was a bit skeptical about the place being a vegetarian but really enjoyed their super soft and fresh falafel and moukassa veg in the main course.

As always, beautiful food, atmosphere and excellent service. Its a bit spenny so I only go for occasions but I go knowing that all is well. Love to end on the delicious baklava which is not overly sweet and washes down well with mint tea. Thank you.

We had a lovely dinner in Liman. The chicken skewer was great but the seabass was probably the best seabass Ive ever tasted. And Ive had a lot of seabass in many countries. The only negative was the music. There was some sort of lounge compilation playing where excellent songs were murdered very slowly

We wanted to try Turkish food in our recent visit to London. Liman restaurant exceeded our expectations. The food was good and tasty. There are several vegetarian options. Dietary restrictions: Meat is not halal but they have plenty vegetarian options

Came here on a Sunday with a friend for lunch. I had made a reservation in advance seeing how many reviews this place has got so I assumed it would have been packed on a Sunday but it was literally empty apart from one table outside. We went with the cold mix mezze as a starter and it was fantastic. It came with 5 types of dips essentially and some seasoned pita bread on the side which was so so delicious. Bread was soft and fluffy and went well with the hummus, baba ghanoush, cacik, tabbouleh and braised aubergine. Then for mains, we went for the lamb skewers with rice and the chicken in yoghurt sauce with croutons. Again, both were super delicious and flavourful. Lamb was cooked to perfection, soft and tender and super well-marinated which went well with the rice. Chicken was juicy and tender also and the tomato and yoghurt sauce was so moreish I kept dipping the lamb into the sauce too. Interesting ingredient choice of croutons in the chicken dish which added more crunchy texture to the dish and made it fun to eat. Service was good but I wont say outstanding, staff were nice and friendly. I loved the interior design with the modern choice of pink chairs and glasses on wooden tables. Its very stylish yet it feels cosy at the same time. Can see it being a great date location too. Would be happy to come back soon!

Great Turkish food within 5 minutes of Angel station. Really good vegetarian options including a great leek stew. May be worth booking as its not too big, but we were lucky being mid-week. My friend had lamb skewers and the meat looked amazing Vegetarian options: Great tasty leek stew which I could swear tasted of smoky bacon. Delicious

I m always skeptical heading into Turkish restaurants in gentrified areas, oftentimes I walk away disappointed with subpar taste and portion size BUT Liman does not disappoint! From the lovely friendly and accommodating staff to the tastefully decorated interior, you ll walk into a warm (both figuratively and literally) environment. The food was well presented, bursting with flavour and maintained the Turkish standard of ensuring you walk (roll?) out of the restaurant full and happy. We ordered quite a few starters and main so I won t describe them one by one, just feast your eyes until on the pics! Go go go there :)

After 5 years since the last time here, the restaurant didnt disappoint. Exceptional food, quality and taste! The salmon with spinach with potatoes was perfect. I just missed the amazing entry bread with humus. The fresh juice top notch!

Doesn t live up to reviews. Food nicely presented and good quality but unexciting and vegetarian options rather bland. Staff efficient but not very friendly. Little atmosphere. Quite pricey considering. Sorry, won t be coming back.
