Just got clams fish shrimp and scallops i think i died and when to heaven the clams where so sweet the rest of the order was so fresh i cant wait to go there again way too go

I paid $25 for a lobster roll which was bland. The amount of crab meat is decent but really lacks any seasoning or flavor. Id probably come back to try their fish and chips but I wont be having another crab roll for some time.

Great fish and chips! Big portions of haddock and fresh cut fries. We ordered the family meal which was delicious and plentiful for a family of 4. Nobody was left hungry.

Order anything on the menu, Ive never had a bad meal here. although famous for their fish and chips, you can t beat their burgers or smoked meat sandwiches. They make several types of Poutine as well. Staff is very friendly.

Fish well cooked.

The food was delicious, ordered two s.f. platters and a lobster roll. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. However the young lady working there was very rude to us. Three people were dining and we did not receive any extra plates. We also had to ask for lemon and extra tartar sauce. By the end of it the employee was very short and rude and we caught her rolling her eyes in disgust.

When they said they d be fast they meant it! We got our food, ate, and left in the span of 40 minutes. The fries were super salty (just how l like them), the tartar sauce was good, and the clams were nice as well.

Always excellent fish, but tonight had the Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich - Just as good as their fish - lots of meat, warm, on warm rye style bread with Swiss and sauerkraut, and hot mustard on the side. One of the best, if not best Montreal Smoked meat sandwiches I ve ever had. Definitely will order again!

Everything on the menu is 5 star.

Got a three-piece fish and chips it was very good. The fries were a little oily, but thats perfectly fine with me. I mean, deep-fried food, what do you expect? However I have an immense amount of respect for them because when I was there waiting for my order, an elderly gentleman came in and he was a little confused with the debit machine and the lady behind the cash register actually went out of her way to help him and she even said okay honey so theres going to be a couple of options on the screen I want you to pick the no tip option okay? I have a big amount of respect for that because they 100% could have taken that old man for a ride and they didnt.

I visited this shop for the first time and was disappointed with the food. I ordered 2PC and chips. The chips looked half burnt, and the fish was tiny and overly battered. On a positive note, the customer service was good, and the serve time was quick.

A real seafood shack!! Absolutely delicious food. The lobster roll are in season, generous amounts, Im a garlic bread. Would add more sauce, but the freshness of the lobster really does the trick. Accompanied by a poutine, a favorite. Will come back to try the other options as well. Plenty of parking, plenty of space to sit. Very fast service. And great value for portion size.

I had take out fish & chips today. The fish was crispy and light and the fries were delicious! My only complaint was the food was swimming in fat. The same great flavour with less grease would be fantastic!

The food is not hot when you pick it up. And the charge to much for their coleslaw. Went for a second time and was disappoint again. We cant wait for Peelers in Sackville drive to open up this summer before we can get great Fish and Chips.

We had heard good things about this place but we had never visited it. I placed our order. Two, two piece fish and chips, coleslaw. We did receive the order quickly but if you re eating in it should at least be presented on a plate and not the paper takeout basket. Of course today s standards plastic knives and forks. The portions of fish were a good size. The fries were ok but soaked in oil. The fish once you fought your way through the batter was ok. Again the batter was soaked in oil. I know it is all deep fried but really there are better fish & chip shops in HRM. We visited it for the first time and I doubt we will return.

I went there today and the girl at the cash was a sweetheart and very nice but we froze will we ate couldn t even take off our coats. The fries were awful cooked way too much and the fish was really tasty but full of grease so not one bit happy, and it wasn t very busy do that wasn t the problem. Parking: Lots of free parking

The staff was very kind, my son wanted pizza from next door, and they allowed him to eat it inside their place, while I had their amazing fish and chips. Super accommodating, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere. Kid-friendliness: My son who wanted pizza, was able to have an item from a store next door, I know most places dont usually allow this but they didnt seem bothered when I asked. Still very plesant and patient. Together we ate and were happy, because of this experience I will go back. I made sure to tip, and cleaned any mess we made upon leaving.

As a previous reviewer says, the quality has gone downhill, fish & fries are overly greasy, and its not nearly as good as it use to be. Saw the employee take previously battered deep fried fish out of the fridge and redunk in the fryers. I guess the days of made-to-order are done. Fish and chip portions are smaller and quite a bit more expensive. The coleslaw is good, and they give you sufficient tartar sauce. I wish I would have read the latest reviews before going, instead of going with my past experiences years ago which were great. Will not return or suggest coworkers/friends go anymore, despite this having been the only place in the area that used to have great food and prices. Will now have to find another place for fish and chips. Also, why is it so chilly inside the restaurant?

This is the place for good fish and chips at a decent price. They have other yummy seafood too.

Since moving to Nova Scotia in 2020, we struggled to find really great fish and chips. We stumbled upon Sydelles and are happy we did. The decor could be nicer, but it does not take away from the great people who own and run the place. The batter is the star and makes the fish sing. Great place for great fish and chips.

Holy smokes, today is the 2nd Ive eaten here, both times were exactly the same, excellent service (even though they were so busy) and absolutely delicious food! We got the family box(same as last time) and it was perfect! Lots of fries and perfectly cooked fish! I couldnt get over how fast they had my food ready! You guys are running a great spot! :)

Huge pieces of fish! I had the haddock tips as well since Ive never had them before. Nice thin batter, but were a little chewy, which I guess I should have expected.

Amazing fish and chips!!!!

I went in around lunch today for the clams, but they were sold out. I came back at supper time after they got some in and the appreciation and gratitude from staff for the return business was amazing. He remembered me from earlier and threw in some extra as a thank you. So not only is the food delicious, the staff and service is fantastic as well. Cant wait to go back.

It was really good fish. Super crispy. Owner was hilarious and so nice. The sweet potato fries were also fairly crisp. I feel like its so hard to get sweet potato fries to be as crispy as regular fries and in my experience, everyone makes limp sweet potato fries. This place does a decent job. Frings poutine was also decent, its just a few pieces of onion rings on-top of regular fries covered in gravy and cheese. I dont know why I expected the entire plate to just be onion rings only with gravy and cheese, no fries. Either way the onion rings were fantastic.

This was the best batter I have had in years.

I have eaten there several times, the food is always fresh and tastes great. The staff are always friendly and go out of their way to ensure you are well looked after, A business worthy of your support!

Been six years since my original review. This is my first time at the new location. A big improvement over the old spot. Fish and chips is still good. Newfie style (thin crispy batter - no holes) fish isnt greasy and its so hot it melts the plastic fork. But the portions are definitely smaller and the fish was a little overcooked/dry. But its still my second place favorite for fee & chee and miles above the rest.

Years ago it was pretty good a little greasy but a 8/10 well it has gone downhill in every aspect.. food quality Food portions Pricing Fries have no taste and the fish is no longer made on the spot.. my fish was chewy and yellowish color indicating not fresh haddock.. twice this has happened now. I will not be back

Excellent fish and chips! Classic! Recently tried the burgers and they are very good, the fries are perfect! Very friendly staff! Parking: Small, free, parking lot shared with other businesses. We havent had a problem getting a space but I could see it being busy on peak times/days. A lot of people getting takeout though so parking turnover is good. Kid-friendliness: Accommodating to kids, there are three large booths but they might be full. If youre planning on dining-in with small children you might want to wait for a booth. Asked for extra plates for the kids and they brought extra plates and napkins, which is always nice!

This establishment is more than just a restaurant with great food and excellent service. Its run by an individual named Dave who goes well above and beyond for the community, often helping those in need without seeking any recognition for it. The food is undeniably delicious, with generous portions and fresh seafood, but its the staffs exceptional hospitality that truly sets this place apart. The kindness and warmth they exude towards every customer make me want to keep coming back. Overall, I cant commend this place enough - its more than just a restaurant, its a beacon of goodwill in the community. If I could rate this higher than 5 stars, I certainly would!

Not enough good things to say about this place. Friendly hard working staff, and the food is amazing. Check out these lobster rolls!! Good luck getting that quality for $20 anywhere else. Very friendly staff, food was fresh (sea food was our selection) and the portions were just right in an age where no person should be eating much what passes for a portion today. To top it all, the food delivery was very fast even with several customers in the restaurant and only 2 staff members (I assume were the owners). I will/would visit again.

The food was mediocre, at best. The tables are sticky. Disliked the fact that eating in didnt even warrant a plate. Take out dishes for a hot hamburg sandwich and fries (served separately in their own dish). $4 for a bottle of pop was a bit much. Wont be back.

I always enjoy going to Sydelles.I was very happy to hear that they were going to reopen their doors after a fire years ago! Its been open now a while. They are located directly across the street from the subway on cobequid road! Their fish and chips are always on point and have the perfect amount of batter! Its always the perfect crisp, and the homemade fries are a fantastic addition. This summer brought lobster rolls and Halibut specials! Dave gives out very generous portions! I believe they are the best in the HRM. The amount of lobster and the size of the sandwich justified the $20 price tag. Next time, Ill probably remove the lettuce as it kinda takes away from the delicate taste of the lobster.

We tried Sydelles yesterday for the first time and it was amazing!!! It was actually our second choice, we called Katch first and were very rudely told to order online. We decided to try Sydelles instead and see if they would take our order. The difference was a complete opposite experience. The girl was polite, helpful and courteous. Order was ready quickly. Food was INCREDIBLE- we will not go anywhere else. Everyone needs to go here!!

I ve tried Sydelles a few times now and have been very impressed. The highlights for me are definitely the poutine and haddock tips. Their gravy is delicious and their cheese curds are somehow the best I ever had. I m not even a curd person but these have an old cheddar taste to them that I love. The batter on the tips was perfectly light and they were cooked as they should be. Service is friendly and super fast. No need to call ahead, your food is prepared instantly. You can tell the owner takes pride in his business and he donates a lot to local fundraisers which doesn t go unnoticed. There s lots more on the menu I m looking to try, definitely will be back!

Ordered the family pack and was very pleased! The fish was fantastic! Lots of it and plenty of fries. We had takeout, so didnt really appreciate the atmosphere, but the service was good and quick. Hopefully next time it will be just as good. Because there definitely will be a next time!

Amazing food.

Quite a lovely place to stop in for a bite. The fish and chips weren t greasy, but had a thin and crisp batter with delicious flakey fish. The fried scallops were soft and buttery inside a lovely crispy shell. They came with a lot of fries, which were a little underwhelming. Because the fish fry was so crispy I was surprised that the fries were a little greasy and heavy. The ceasar salad was heavy on the dressing, but was still tasty. I would just ask for less dressing next time. I loved that you could just look back and see into the kitchen, which was clean and organized. Really nothing to hide. The owners, a husband and wife duo, slinging delicious simple fried food. Next time I m there if the French fries are crispy I would give 5 stars.

Sydells was a fixture on Rocky Lake Drive in Bedford forever it was a favorite with the Municipal/Dexter truck drivers, so you know it was good! I had the 2 piece finch n chimps at their Cobequid Road location today with Carisma s Kijiji Rep, Karl the food was delicious! I think their fish is better than John s Lunch less grease, more fish, very fresh. I d say pretty darn close to Willman s quality, maybe better? Great fries . And the Coleslaw was delish! White and purple cabbage, nice touch! Fast friendly service, clean, well-priced . Maybe the best fish n chips in Metro!

Even though I went to CPA, only went to the old location a couple times. Going to the new location now makes wish I went there more. Classic fish and chips, good poutine and nice setting. Good stuff, thumbs up from me

Fish didn t taste fresh. Seemed like it had been reheated instead of cooked from fresh. Fries were super greasy and once again tasted as if they had been reheated. Owner was not polite when confronted about the quality issues. Instead, they went on to say how their food was award winning. Unfortunate as I would have been happy to try again before leaving a review but their rudeness has eliminated that option.

Service was excellent, fries were good, but the fish was not fresh, it was either frozen or old. Too bad, I was so looking forward to this meal. Other reviewer commented about being refried, that is common, it doesn t make the fish old ( it had a rubbery texture and not the translucent flakes that fresh has) . It s an easy fix, hopefully the owner sees and takes the steps to make the food worthy of the past reputation.

Editing my review, just to absolutely be more than thankful to quite possibly, the best place around. Has always been my local favourite, and my familys as well. The owner is a fantastic man, who has gone above and beyond to provide wonderful service to those who live here, and those who come to visit. The food is beyond fantastic, and you can tell that its made with care, the times are fast, and the staff is great. I couldnt ask for a better local eatery, let alone a better group of people. Thanks you guys, keep up the great work!

I was surprised at how large the menu was and most stuff seemed reasonably priced to my knowledge. Staff was friendly. Would definitely eat here before any of the chain places without a doubt. This place has a lot of potential cant wait to try again!

Best fish and chips around!

The staff were friendly and the service was good . But in my opinion, the fries are way to thick and so was the batter on the fish. My scallops were over cooked and I feel like there should have been a couple more for the price . The old Sydelles was way better . We wont be back any time soon.

Sydelles is a GREAT place for fish and chips. Covid restrictions had us eating our meal in our car, but that didnt dampen our enthusiasm for our meal. We shared a 3 piece and fries plate. Plenty of food, enough to take some home for a night lunch. The fish was firm and fresh, the batter light and crispy. The hand cut fries were excellent. The coleslaw, while tasty is a little bland. A word of advice, please put together a small kit of salt and pepper with each order, as both the fish and fries require more, We will definitely be back!

This used to be my go to place for fish and chips, and I went frequently when it was on Rocky Lake Drive. Ive been back twice to Cobequid Road and I have been disappointed both times. I dont know how you can make haddock taste tough, but they did. The service was very good, but I wont be back.

Excellent service! We bought the fish and chips and they were delicious! We also tried the Montreal dog and it was DELICIOUS! I have never tried anything like it! The combination of all the ingredients tasted great! I totally recommend this place , its food and amazing service.

The last 2 times we have had Fish and Chips the fish was small and over cooked. In the past they had great Fish and Chips, but something has changed and it is not the same level of food as in the past. I dont think I will be back

Second time I came in for smoke meat sandwich and they had none. Decided to try their club sandwich instead. White or whole wheat I was asked. White I said. I got whole wheat. When I asked about my white bread theysaid they were all out. So why ask if I wanted white or wholewheat?? Dont know about their Covid protocol but the table I sat had had food scraps on it.

I got a refund at Sydelles tonight because the cook would not wear a mask. I mentioned to the girl working that he was suppose to have a mask on and she told him to put it on but he refused. He was adamant that he was not wearing a mask so I got my money back and left .As did the people behind me who overheard him.Hard to believe that customers need masks and vaccinations and he feels he doesnt even need mask.
