One of my favorite fine dining places. Food is outstanding and service couldnt be better.

Food is good, but I think is a bit expensive for what you get. The atmosphere is what you pay for!

Food and drinks: What a delight our celebration was over dinner. Beef Wellington was done to perfection. Branzino was tender and delicately complimented with a butternut squash cream sauce. The menu is well marked for gluten with plenty of choices. Even desserts, a raspberry chocolate cake to die for! Service

Food was terrible. Started out with bread that was like hot dog rolls cut in half. Only downhill from there.

Everything here is just okay. It s priced as if it were higher end though. Many of the meals are classic high end meals from the 80s and 90s, however they aren t done well enough and do a disservice to the old style cooking. Not well seasoned, not cooked correctly, and relatively bland. Nothing stood out as bad other than the Cesar salad which was obviously pre mixed and sitting in the kitchen waiting to be plated. On the other hand nothing stood out as really good either, and for me that s not a win. Also, the parking lot is filled with fancy cars parked exactly how you would expect their aging customers to park.

Beautiful historic building with several indoor/outdoor dining areas with 2 full service bars. Great venue location for private dinners & special occasions. Above the restaurant are a handful of guest suites if youre visiting from out of town. Rooms: Each of the 8 guest suites have their own unique charm, keeping true to the cozy historic origins of the nearly 200 year old inn, but still providing amenities of the modern day. Food and drinks: There is a fantastic restaurant on the first floor, with multiple dining rooms - each with its own fireplace. The food is noteworthy, to say the least. There are 2 bars that are open year-round... the bar on the lower level (known as the terrace is enclosed during the colder months, but open-air during the warm months. The outside dining area is phenomenal, with plentiful seating, live music once a week, and beautiful scenery that makes you forget where you are. Noteworthy details: Intrigued by the supernatural? Many believe to have had ghostly encounters while spending a night in one of the 8 guest suites on the top two floors!

Had dinner with coworkers, it was good nothing too great but nothing bad either. Would recommend for others looking for a nice dining experience.

Restaurant is wonderful and back patio is one of my favorite places to eat outside. Music sometimes.

We went for a mothers day brunch. Were all good except for mine. I had crab cakes which to me tasted store-bought. I know they made them but they lacked more substance than what im used to I would have appreciated more body more crab. Another person had scallops, which they thoroughly enjoyed, 2 other persons had been entrees which both enjoyed

Made a reservation for lunch for my son s graduation. We were 3rd on the list of families making the reservation. They called my wife to confirm and asked if we would be ok sitting outside in a climate controlled room if necessary. Well, we were outside, not in a climate controlled room, isolated from the rest of his classmates whose families were inside. So much for post graduation lunch with the rest of the families. Very poor management and extremely disappointed in our experience.

Outdoor patio is a wonderful addition. the food was spectacular, (wife particularly loved the tuna) and the service was very professional. All I can say is WOW! Has to be the best dining experience on the Main Line.

AMAZING!! This has been one of my favorite restaurants of all. I had my wedding reception here and was SO HAPPY with how it turned out. Patrick helped coordinate the event and he is THE BEST - Extremely professional and detail oriented. Would recommend the GW for any event. To cap off the night, we had fireworks right outside the restaurant. It was such a special day/night!!!

This place is wonderful for any occasion. The staff was friendly and hospitable. Food is amazing. Well worth five stars. Nearby activities: Valley Forge Casino is 15 minutes away.

Gorgeous property! Was here for a wedding and it was immaculate. The service, the atmosphere, and the view. I would love to come back for an event or just to stay to experience the rooms. Perfect for a weekend getaway.

Fantastic experience at the, GW! Sarah, our server, was such a sweetheart, new her stuff and made wonderful suggestions frome the menu. The ambiance was welcoming and beautiful, soft and inspiring us to come back again. We didnt have a look at all of the rooms but the dining room was stunning. Always love a good hunt scene, as a horse enthusiast. Cant wait to return.

Excellent place

I debated even writing a review but I feel I must to help others. This restaurant is beautiful and the ambience is lovely but the food was so disappointing. The baked burrata appetizer said it had figs and there were no figs at all not even a hint of figs .the burrata was melted and completely tasteless - I could have made this at home, it is not hard to get right, and it was terrible. I was so sad that the dinners didn t live up to expectations either. Mediocre at best. My husband commented at one point that my home cooking blew this restaurant away lol. For over $130 I should have cooked at home. So bummed about the quality of the food because the restaurant itself is so pretty.

My family enjoyed our Easter dinner at the General Warren Inn! The dining rooms are charming, each providing a unique, cozy and celebratory atmosphere. The service is impeccable. We appreciated the friendly, comfortable and professional interaction with our server, as well as his recommendations for what to order. For my entree, I enjoyed the bistro steak. It was delivered exactly to temperature (rare). The demi glacé was tasty, but I could have used less of the sauce, plus a good char and more seasoning on the steak itself (and yes, I mean simply salt and pepper as that s all a good cut of meat really needs). The stand out dishes for our party included the halibut special, which was flaky, tender and excellently cooked. The Easter special of lobster claws and waffles was also very well received as a strong nod to brunch, even though the portion could have been larger. Don t sleep on the dessert here. The carrot cake was delicious, plentiful and clearly made in house. Walkability: Not walkable at all

Ambience and entrees are great, especially their signature dish, beef Wellington. However, they advertise a happy hour in the terrace, but they charge full price..

We went to eat dinner here with my husbands coworkers. It was a little secluded, which was nice because there wasnt much traffic, but it wasnt far from the main road. It looks nice outside, and feels cozy inside. Everyone was very nice. Our server was Nancy, she was very lovely, attentive, and patient. The food was presented very nicely, it tasted great. I never knew of this place, but I would definitely go back. FYI, there are two parking lots, one at the bottom where you have to walk up a ramp and the second at the top near the entrance.

Just had dinner here for the first time with some friends I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the food and the service and it s a great price point to be perfectly honest with you based on other restaurants that I ve been to in the area I highly recommend this especially if you re taking out Family and friends

Dined here for a wedding reception and everything was exquisite. Our server Bryan was exceptional. Above and beyond is not praise enough. He was a joy to have been waited on. Not pictured was the Caesar salad and beef wellington which was delicious. Only remembered a photo of desert. In the oval dish was their pumpkin creme brulee and the swirl tart was the Bakewell tart. Just amazing. Will definitely be coming back again

New Year eve dinner with my fiancé. The steak was tough, asparagus weren t cooked fully. Service was mediocre at best. All for a cost that was expensive for quality of the food. Would never recommend it to anyone.

Came here for dinner. The grounds and the restaurant are beautiful. Everything has a traditional elegant feel. Our server was excellent. We ended up getting a bottle of wine, salads, beef wellington, and desert. Everything was well seasoned, well cooked, and very tasty. I have to highlight how much I enjoyed the beef wellington and the pumpkin crème brûlée. I would definitely recommend these dishes. It was a little pricey, but absolutely worth it! There was plenty of parking, can make reservations online, there is a coat check up front, and restrooms are well kept. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant if youre looking for a nice place to eat out.

Charming restaurant and B&B. Nice atmosphere, with friendly service and huge portion sizes. Menu has something for everyone, including a nice array of appetizers; also, great selection of wine and cocktails. Will definitely visit again, and perhaps, stay at the B&B.

We decided to have an afternoon meal here Easter Sunday. Limited menu. The room was hot and stuffy. They were busy but the service was friendly if not efficient. We ordered various entrees. The cardboard under the Lobster claws was awful. It was hard and tough. I had to ask if it was edible (it was a flat croissant)! To be fair, the rest of the dish was good, not great. Others enjoyed the salmon and pork chops. Nice to go once in a while.

Went for Easter Dinner with our 80 & 90 year old Moms. We were seated in the back sunroom and had a very good time. The Moms truly enjoyed the more quiet area and the background music. The Lobster, Beef Wellington, and French Cut Chicken were all excellent, as were the cocktails and wine. The service was impeccable, a truly good time, and a fantastic place for a special dinner.

The General Warren Inne is phenomenal!! I cannot say enough about this place and the people there. From before checking in to well-after checking out, Erica and Patrick were SO welcoming and accomodating and helpful. Just the kindest and most on-point group of people here who genuinely love the Inn and actively care for the quality of their guests stays. It has total historic charm and still is full of life with vivacious yet such soothing and tranquil energy. This place has the ability to provide whatever you are looking for, as a vibe and as an experience. I am elated that we made the choice to stay here, I could not be happier with how this panned out! Also, the food is unbelievable - the chefs *can cook*, and Amy who waited on us in the restaurant is amazing! My husband and I got to do a lot of stellar things in PA, but staying at the General Warren and being a guest here was an extraordinary component in the joy and fulfillment we experienced on our 10th wedding anniversary trip. They definitely made us feel special and took really good care of us, but Im certain that will be nearly every guests experience here! I *highly* recommend staying here!! :-) Rooms: The rooms are very well-kempt and charming. We got a tour of all of them, each has its own personality. The bathrooms in some of the rooms are small but it wasnt originally built with bathrooms (est. 1745), but the rooms were larger than I expected after being in lots of BnBs in St Augustine and Savannah. Safety: Its in a quiet location and felt very safe the whole time. My job at home is centered around physical and personal safety, and I felt relaxed and at peace here the entire stay. Walkability: There is a lot of room to roam about the hotel and garden areas; but its within the hills and two-way hilly roads, so youll need a vehicle to get anywhere else. There are towns and convenient shopping centers really close-by via car. Food and drinks: Delicious!! Above and beyond our expectations.

My husband and I had our wedding ceremony and reception at General Warren. It is such a beautiful property and has amazing staff working and delicious food. Patrick was a dream to work with from the moment we inquired about our wedding to the very end when the wedding was over. He s very experienced and professional and made sure every single need was met and concern was addressed. He even made it possible to have a 7-piece band perform at our wedding! The staff who worked our wedding were very professional. Our guests said it was the best wedding food they ve had and loved the intimate and beautiful atmosphere. Our guest count was under 60 people and we wanted to have a daytime wedding. This was perfect for a Saturday buyout. My husband and I stayed in the presidential suite the night before our wedding, and the housekeeping staff made sure our stay was perfect. Bottom line: If you are planning an event, you will not regret doing it at General Warren!

Great place for food and celebrations.

Business dinner. Excellent food. Very expensive.

We just spent over $300 for a dinner for 4. That would have been okay if the food was good. The salmon was way over cooked, three out of four of us had it. One piece was a nice size but the other two pieces were teeny tiny. All were incredibly overcooked. The rice with peas that came with it was dripping in butter and totally flavorless/bland. The roasted carrots that were the veg with the dish were also dripping in butter and we all had pieces on our plates that were like burnt little nuggets. The snapper soup was thin and very light colored and not particularly tasty. This place is incredibly over-priced for what you get. For these prices, the food and service should be amazing. The server seemed frazzled, not particularly friendly, we had to request bread & she seemed annoyed that we asked for it. The bread is cheap potato-roll flavored nasty rolls. For these prices you d think they would give you a delicious artisanal roll. SO disappointing for what should have been a great Fathers Day meal.

We hosted a rehearsal dinner at the General Warren 3 weeks ago. Since we are from another State I was concerned that everything would go well. Patrick, Tim, and the entire staff made sure everything was perfect! We received so many compliments from everyone that s attended. I cannot thank them all enough.

Went here with my husband and parents for Father s Day dinner 2023. (I also had my Covid wedding here in nov 2020 which was perfect, so this wasn t our first outing here) The vibes during our fathers day dinner were nottt it. Food was great, service was decent, but our server Gwen was just not it. She was stark, stale, and frankly needs to retire! Sorry not sorry. No interaction with her was pleasant. Not a smile, nothing about her demeanor was friendly. She told my mom to move her menu so she could put her drink order down. Like ok?? Gwen proceeded to stand over us while we prepared her cash tip!!! It was so odd and unprofessional. Very pushy vibes to get us out at the end and turn over the table.

The General Warren inn is an absoutely wonderful place. Old and rustic with amazing history. Ask Patrick or Tim about it when you visit. This has been our go to place for special occasions, from weddings to birthday and anniversary dinners. Patrick and Tim are the most cordial and accommodating hosts. When we visit, they make us feel so welcome and appreciated. The staff, some of whom have been there longer than our wedding 16 years ago, also remember and welcome us back. The food is just fabulous. The chefs preparations are exquisite and delicious. I have had some dishes over the years that didnt quite suit my taste but I have never had a meal that was poorly prepared and served. I remarked to Tim at my last visit, how impressed I am by the food. Where do all of these wonderful tastes come from? Excellent chefs. Executive chef Smith leads a very talented team and the pastry chef, I believe this name is Andy, makes some beautiful and delicious creations! And the coffee... The cocktails are always perfectly created and the wine list is impressive. And there is much more! This is, in my opinion, a perfect blend of talent and hospitality. Top notch restaurant and inne with beautiful suites on an even more beautiful, well maintained property . This establishment is well worth the visit!

We had a celebration of life event and they took care of every last detail-they treated us like family! The food was delicious, service was great and Tim s hospitality and professionalism was unmatched. I had the privilege of officiating a wedding at The General Warren Inn on 9/23, and I cant help but share how truly perfect the experience was. This charming venue exudes quaint elegance, creating a wonderfully romantic atmosphere for couples. Tim, and the attentive staff, were incredibly helpful and responsive, addressing any inquiries with utmost professionalism. Im not only thrilled but truly honored at the prospect of officiating here again in the future. Its a place where wedding dreams come to life.

Had our Wedding here New Years Eve. Patrick and his crew did a fantastic job with the set up for the wedding and the dinner! We stayed overnight in the William Penn suite and had a great night watching the ball drop at the upstairs and downstairs bar! Highly recommend for small weddings and for a date night!

We attended a Memorial Luncheon at The General Warren. The service was excellent and the food was delicious.

The food was mediocre at best. The service was good, and it was our anniversary and they wrote happy anniversary on our dessert plate, which was very sweet. But the food was really just sub par as well as the desserts. Could just be what I ordered, but I wasn t impressed and it didn t live up to the great reviews I saw.

Great place to celebrate a special occasion or host a holiday lunch/dinner. Both indoor and outdoor settings are gorgeous, beautiful venue. Quality of service was impressive and food was delicious. Highly recommend.

We stopped by for a drink and to see the venue for a dinner were having for some family and friends. Sean was so incredibly kind and accommodating. He showed us the room we would use as well as the overnight spaces, in case we, or any of our guest wanted them. Offered up a current menu as an idea of what our might look like. It was such an informative and pleasant experience, we made our decision right there at the bar over a couple pints of Guiness! Couldnt recommend this place more highly.

My first time at The General Warren and I was a little underwhelmed. The restaurant is beautiful, the service is excellent however, be prepared to wait for everything... it seemed like they were very understaffed. The good drinks and food make up for the wait.

Had a terrific Easter brunch at the historic General Warren Inn. Have not been there in many years. The place looked great. They must have completed some renovations recently because it was really updated. The food was terrific and the service was very good. The only reason they don t get 5 stars is because the menu is traditional without many inventive items. But what they make, they make extremely well!!

The beef Wellington was absolutely delicious. There were four of us and every one was raving about their appetizer & dinner. The drinks were great too! The service was excellent, friendly & very professional. The best meal and atmosphere I ve had in a while! Highly recommended!! I cant wait to go back.

An absolute must if youre celebrating a special event. Elegance without pretension.

Lovely restaurant, atmosphere was tranquil. The 3 stars is about the food. Bread basket, meh, and the tasteless white rolls were not warmed. Steak frites, the steak slices were swimming in a sauce and the fries were pretty tasteless. . Too much sauce in my opinion. The children s menu had Mac and cheese, well it was Kraft Mac and cheese. I would expect better from a fine dining, white table cloth establishment. Then to top it off a make kitchen staff member used the ladies room (I was waiting outside the door), which is fine, but at least put the seat back down!

I am glad to be dining here again. It has survived at this location for over two hundred years and is still going strong.

We wanted to try this restaurant while we were in the area and were very glad we did! The service was impeccable, the food was excellent, and the building and its history was really interesting! We both started with the lobster deviled eggs, which were very good. Then we both got steak (one a version of the au poivre with some substitutions to address a lactose intolerance and one a beef wellington). Both steaks were cooked perfectly and very flavorful. The beef wellington was delicious! For dessert, we got German chocolate cake that was also very good. We would absolutely go back! Vegetarian options: There are vegan menu options, particularly on y dessert menu. Dietary restrictions: One member of our party has a severe lactose intolerance and the staff were extremely knowledgeable and helpful in figuring out what they could order and what substitutions might be necessary. Parking: They have a lot of parking in their dedicated lot.

My wife and daughter stayed her for 2 nights in the George Washington suite and absolutely loved the room and the staff. She said that she would absolutely stay here again.

The General Warren absolutely met all expectations!! My wife and just celebrated our 43rd wedding anniversary there. I initially went because I heard they had a great Snapper Soup, and it is. But now I don t know if I can order any entree other than the Steak Au Poivre. It was a excellent!! Everything was great, the service, the servers, the drinks, the food. Just everything. We ll definitely be back and we ll tell others about this place.

I cant say enough wonderful things about the General Warren. We just had our wedding there last weekend, using their intimate wedding package, and if I had it to do again I wouldnt change a single thing. The food is fantastic, and they made our cake in-house. The price was perfect; it was like taking our family out for dinner and drinks. There are eight hotel suites upstairs, and our wedding booked them all. They were clean and so comfortable, furnished with antiques. My hair and makeup artist came and did all my preparations in our suite. We had the entire property to ourselves for a lot of the weekend because they are only open for dinner. The venue is meticulously maintained, so our photos look gorgeous. Patrick, the owner, is very easy to work with and answered all of my anxious bride emails quickly. The feedback from our families was mostly, Wow, how did you find this place? Its amazing! Every single staff member I talked to, from the owner to the bar tenders to the waitstaff and the woman in charge of hospitality was professional and warm. We also enjoyed the breakfast pastries in the mornings (made to order so they come out nice and hot)! The morning after our wedding, my new husband and I went back to the ceremony site for a few minutes alone and he said that we should come back for anniversary dinners in the coming years. I cant think of anything more perfect. If you have a wedding with 50 or fewer guests in the area, I cant recommend this place enough. Our wedding ran perfectly and smoothy and our families were very well taken care of all weekend!

Dine here often. It is an hour away, but we ll worth the drive. Atmosphere, food, service are all excellent. Celebrated our anniversary here two weeks ago. Music on some Sunday nights. Outside dining, covered and uncovered are available. A must visit if you are in the area.

This place is a surprising gem! Very quaint and beautifully decorated. We had a large group and we ate at the downstairs outside seating area. Everyone enjoyed their food, and our waiter was wonderful. Ill definitely be back!

First time there, service and food was great.

Used to be a favorite but last night was awful. Stale food store rolls lousy ceasar salad and out of 8 meals only 1 was decent. Even the cocktails were lousy. And the wait between ordering and getting food was ridiculous. Meal took almost 3 hours.

General Warren is one of our favorite restaurants. We frequent the establishment once a week and love the patio and Sunday entertainment. Food, drinks, service, and ambiance are all delightful. Highly recommended!!

Just had a small wedding here and it was absolutely perfect! Its the cutest place. The coordinator was super helpful and prompt in answering any questions I had. The food was delicious and the servers were friendly and attentive.

We hosted our wedding reception at GW and it was truly everything we dreamt of and more. Patrick was incredible to work with, being extremely responsive and considerate of our needs and wants throughout the entire planning process. The day before, we dropped off all of our decorations, and they were set up flawlessly for dinner the next day. We also had our cake made there and it was beyond amazing!

Meeting old friends tonight at the General Warren, as the merry season begins, reminds one of all that remains to be cherished. I met Jen, the gifted bar~tendress and hold, in deep pockets, the highest regard for her 28-year history in service to the House; as well as her speed-skating efforts to serve all in a manner, deserving. She is lightning quick in spirit and candor and knows the cocktails, specialities and secret pours of nearly every dear client who crosses the Inns threshold. Any woman who has been serving society and the Inns patrons for nearly three decades, deserves accolades beyond an Oscar. It is a tender reveal to see the humility, grace and humor that is required to elevate the pillars of such an establishment. Patrick, the extraordinary proprietor, George as host and Jack, the finest server...along with all of the staff, are wonderfully cordial and kind; the experience of dining here evokes iconic pleasures. I must mention the exquisite STEAK FRITES and Rosé offered, soothed my senses and reduced my levels of stress from a roar to a gentle purr. I shall be returning again and again for rejuvenation of spirit and spark to keep Winters shadow distant.

We had the best evening at GW. We had dinner at the bar . Jane our bartender was not only amazing, but fun and entertaining!!!! We had a blast. We also enjoyed the food runner Joey E. The restaurant looked like a lovely Christmas inn decorated beautifully!! Great job . Thank you for a great night.

Good menu, not overpriced for what you get and I really liked the portion sizes which tended to be a tiny bit small. This left me room to enjoy some dessert. The atmosphere is amazing, and even if the food was a mere 3 stars, I would go again just for that.

Historical restaurant and inn located in Malvern Pa. This building dates back before the revolutionary war 1745. My wife and I last dined there to celebrate our anniversary. It is a favorite of ours for dinners with friends and family. They have an excellent menu with seasonal changes and locally influenced additions. Reservations are reccomended. OpenTable has been the easiest for me to make reservations here.

First time visit with my wife and sister in law a very pleasant experience. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable and helpful in our selection of menu options. Our drinks, entrees and desserts were all delicious, enjoyed in an upscale decor.

Charming restaurant, good food and service, but on a busy night, it may take you 15 minutes or more to find a parking space, going in and out of driveways, making U-turns in dead end parking areas, searching in various disconnected parking areas. I mentioned this difficulty to the manager when I entered the restaurant, and his only response was that this is what happens when you have a successful restaurant. He couldn t care less.

We had our wedding and reception here. It was beautiful. The rooms are gorgeous. The staff are kind and helpful. The food is delicious. They have dinners for any budget. The ambiance is exquisite. This is the perfect place to make memories.

I would award zero stars if it was an option. Manager s behavior was shocking. Our group spent nearly $1,000 on dinner. The bill was picked up by a recent arrival from Europe. He included a tip that was adequate but not up to the amount the manager thought was needed (let s say there was a $50 difference). Rather than deal with it quietly and calmly, this guy decided to take the approach of public humiliation and announced loudly that this isn t how things are done in America. Our group was taken aback. When we tried to speak to him about it, he retreated to his office to do paperwork . Only after refusing to leave would he emerge to announce he has had it with these people from other countries. He won t need to worry about that in the future and neither our company nor anyone in our group will ever darken his door again. Now for the food. Appetizer was snapper soup. It tasted like it came from a can. Not bad, just no character. I wouldn t order it again. Main course was ahi tuna. This was ok but in remarkable. It was served over a bed of fregoula in a sauce that apparently was a purée of the other ingredients listed on the menu. Four little slices of tuna. It gets a meh. Dessert was supposedly a cannoli tart. Let s just say the pastry chef has probably never been to Italy. Texture and taste was decidedly un-cannoli like. It was accompanied by a giant scoop of a cool-whip like substance. Although I won t be back as a matter if principle, the mediocrity of the food is enough to keep me away as well.

Everything from the moment we walked in was great. We were greeted right away and taken to our table even though we were a little early. The snapper soup and beef wellington were fantastic!
