Undoubtedly the best Chinese food in Malvern. I have been eating at The Star for over 15 years and it has always been excellent. Brenda, Ken and James are always so friendly, courteous and attentive. The food is truly superb and the beer is perfect. We will always choose the star!
Always had good experiences with ordering from the Star, food is always fresh & tasty so would highly recommend. Just really confusing as they’re currently a 1/5 on the food hygiene rating website
New to Malvern, we were on the hunt for a local Chinese takeaway and so we took some advice from Facebook, deciding on The Star. We arrived and had a little nosey through the menu - loads of loads of options, meat fish and veggie. We ordered with the friendly lady behind the till and waited in the entrance area (nice seats and tables, so we were cosy while we waited!). Food was ready quickly within about 10/15 minutes. We noticed there was also a dining in area that we are tempted to try next time. Food was delicious and plentiful. Price really good for the quantity and quality you're getting too. Our new local Chinese! :)
We've just moved to the area, so we were really happy to find The Star just up the road from us. Ordered a takeaway for collection and it was ready in less than 15 minutes. Everything freshly cooked, brilliant service and the place seemed nice inside, with quite a few people dining in. Will definitely be back.
Had a lovely meal here. The food was great. Service was quick and the staff were all very helpful. Not a flashy restaurant by any means, just good quality and sensible prices. Definitely recommended.
Very highly recommended!! Superb food, with a great vegetarian selection. Excellent ales from the bar as well as Chinese beer. Staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. Background music brilliant too! Prices much cheaper than expected, given the excellent quality
I found a stone in my food! An actual small stone. When I called to tell The Star, they weren t interested, terrible response. Wouldn t even entertain a refund as they re too busy!!

6 of us called into The Star for a beer after a days walking. Didnt realise that it served Chinese food, so grabbed a dine in meal too. Good beer, good food with a friendly and prompt service. Good background music as well. Recommended.
We placed quite a large order this evening to takeaway as we had a family get together. The food was amazing, nothing was missing from our order and everyone said how much they enjoyed their food and how fresh it was. We ve had experiences in the past elsewhere where the food has been very salty and greasy, but our meals this evening were far from this and we will definitely order from here again. The staff were very friendly also. Thank you
The best Chinese in Worcestershire, let alone Malvern. Proper meat, amazing flavours, loads of veggie options, gluten free options and so fresh. Good beers, welcoming regulars and very friendly staff. In particular, James, wonderful man! Can t recommend this place enough. Best HPA in Malvern! You need to try The Star if you haven t already! Do yourself and your life a favour and do not frequent this restaurant, It was an absolute ripoff tbh, £72 for the worse three mains, bowl of chips, two fried rices and one starter Just a disappointment Food : 1/5
Only discovered this little gem a couple of days ago, , my food was lovely the proprietors so friendly....Great to have a drink while u wait for ur takeout if u dont want to eat in, which was not a long wait and dogs are welcome...doesnt get much better . I hav just found my new fave chinese food place

Great food,I personally love their veggie chicken in black bean source, but my friends are all horrible carnivorous animals and they all raved about their meals, so I suppose thats good! . Anyway, the beer is wonderful and is clearly looked after by people who know how to serve the best pint for miles by miles . The staff are very friendly to the point of being loveable , so all in all Id say its the best eat out you could possibly have in Malvern or even the whole county. Rick

The outside doesnt do this place justice but once you get inside, its a quirky mix of pub/chinese with a well stocked bar and extensive menu. Estrella was beautiful. The quality of the food was especially good with plenty of choice for all palates, including vegetarians - a huge menu! I would have like (1) information on Gluten Free meals and (2) Tofu options. The chap serving us was polite enough but not really friendly... 5 STARS based on everyone in our party of 8 being very happy with their meal.

Absolutely without doubt the worst meal I have ever been served ordered special fried rice which was a reheated in the microwave oily mush of rice and some sort of dried out meat that resembled dog chews I find it hard to believe that this place can survive serving this sort of food.

Excellent old school pub with a twist in that it is also a Chinese takeaway And restaurant. Great selection of good ales lager and cider. Very nice inside and friendly helpful staff.highly recommend a takeaway from here great food. A++++++

Top Chimese food
Visiting the area for a few days and after reading good reviews for here decided to have a takeaway. Ordered online and collected within half an hour. Really good tasty food. We had the sharing starter box for two, salt and pepper chicken and chips, chicken with ginger and spring onion and egg fried rice. Would definitely visit again when in the area and recommend for anyone wanting a nice takeaway.
Ordered via the website which was was really straightforward. Booked a time to collect and it was ready when we asked for it (Ive been to many takeaways where this isnt the case) the food was really nice and I would definitely recommend the starter platter for 2

The best Chinese in Malvern by far, friendly staff and lovely ales also contribute to the experience. Ive never had a bad meal there and Im positive I never will.
Really sad as it s quite far for us to drive to get this so it s a very rare treat, the spring rolls and chicken balls were missing which they gave me a refund for but then also the prawn crackers were stale and the chips were stale and cold :(. Really sad as had a lovely take away the last time we had one a few months ago

Lovely Chinese takeaway! We were in the area and they were recommended by the cottage owner were we were. They werent wrong! Its also really awesome that its part of a pub, so while we waited we got a pint and chilled. Lovely service too, very polite and welcoming

Excellent Chinese restaurant as well as traditional old English pub. Very polite, friendly and courteous. They have a very good menu and outside seating is available. Will definitely be going again Well worth a drive out as this place has a character all of its own with a twist!

Food is lovely. Service is friendly. Midweek a very relaxed atmosphere and not made to feel that we should rush off after the meal. I can recommend the vegetarian chicken in satay sauce.
One of the best take aways/restaurant for chinese food for miles and miles around with the added benefit because its also a pub of the MOST AMAZING BEER. Really doesnt get any better than that.

I had a very bad experience yesterday due to a large party with some very drunk people at the adjacent table. A constant noisy barrage of extremely bad language, which was ruining what was supposed to be a celebratory meal. After the starters we asked the staff if they could request that the language be moderated. They had a brief word with one member of the group, but the result was that it got even worse. We asked to be moved elsewhere (otherwise we were going to leave) and fortunately there was a table at the bar, which was quiet and pleasant. The serving staff were apologetic (as Im lead to believe were some members of the large party), but frankly its debatable whether they should have allowed this party in, and certainly shouldnt have been serving alcohol to some of them who could barely stand. There was no offer of a reduction in the bill, or free drinks, or anything like that. It seemed to me that the revenue from 20 or so heavy drinkers and eaters was more important to them than their reputation as a decent restaurant. Ive been coming here for years, and the restaurant is usually quiet. The takeaway food and real ale are good too. This was originally a 4 star review prior to yesterday, but its unlikely Ill be going back there for a while.

I have tried them all in Malvern and the Star is miles ahead when it comes to the quality of the food, you do pay a little extra and it s worth it. The bar is a relaxed pleasant area where you can have a drink whilst waiting for your take away, the Beer is top quality and so is the service. 9 times out of ten we have a take-away if we eat at the restaurant we request to have the food in the bar area. I do have a problem with the star which is the main restaurant, its lacks atmosphere and is not a pleasing environment to eat in which is such a shame because it lets down the food and service. The enormous water feature at the back of the restaurant is irritating and distracting too. If the restaurant was modernised it would be Five Stars
Great for takeaways! The staff here are really friendly, the food is great and service is quick and efficient. Consistently good, this is my favourite Chinese in Malvern. The pub is also good, with a few ales that change and the standard selection of lagers, etc. Atmosphere is warm and friendly.
