Wish there was a bit more vegetarian option, pea fritters / cheese and onion bits.
Amazing food stopped by for a nice bite to eat the person that served was very friendly. Will definitely be revisiting.
Absolutely fantastic fish and chips. The cod was amazing, thick and beautifully cooked. Please pay by cash so they can maximise their profits and minister the bank's.
Very disappointed with our fish and chips. The chips were pale and stuck together and the fish was so over trimmed it was a strange cylindrical shape. Tasteless, unremarkable fish and chips, but the worst thing was the price - £25 for 2 fish and chips! Maybe wouldn't have minded paying so much if they had tasted better.
Friday night so very busy, but worth the wait which wasn't long all things considered
We've been here a few times and it has been fairly good but this time the meal was awful. A "medium" mixed meat and chips consisted of undercooked chips (and not many of them so I wonder what small would be like) absolute mush for the chicken doner (if I was fed it with closed eyes I would have said it was cat food) and the doner meat was pale and tough. The staff were not the friendliest and one in particular (she knows who I'm talking about) could do with a course in customer service. That is the last time I will use this place and would certainly not recommend it, a shame as it used to be good, what happened ??
Never had such hard work trying to order chips.. obviously a new member of staff but come on guys train your staff and let them know to keep there attitude in check when dealing with customers at the very least! The pic shown is a large chicken and chips and you will see the lack of chicken and the chips for that matter in the pic. £8.70 for child's portions. Extremely inconsistent place.
Amazing Gluten Free fish and chips. Phone through the order, and only waiting a few minutes to receive. Great understanding of coeliac so good has separate fryer, uses different utensils and placed in boxes in a separate area. They didn’t have GF vinegar, but did sell it, and wasn’t overpriced.
Best chip shop in Worcestershire. Its family run and been going for over 40 years must be doing something right
Greatest chippy in Malvern.
lunchtime fish and chips..... place needs a good clean and the order was not cooked fresh but out the hot counter and tasted stale as if it was last nights but it certainly cured my constipation. maybe leave it another 7yrs before visiting Food
Our favourite in Malvern
Staff miserable and batter not cooked properly. Haven t been here for years despite being on our doorstep. Prefer driving further to Yates Hay.
Great fish and chips with a big menu, lots of choice. Few parking public parking spaces outside. Usually a queue inside with no seating.
Dried out chips, fish just about passable, though smaller than we had come to expect. Very disappointing compared to previous visits
Scammers Over charged £20 for pie and chips Food : 1/5
We used to get fish and chips every other week on a Friday but the fish is far too unreliable - especially when you are a family of four and two get a decent piece of cod and two get flat tail ends that are over-cooked. People say things like get there early when it s fresh etc but that s nonsense. They should only be frying fillets of cod with decent thickness creating a good sized flake . I ve had too many chewy tails now to ever return. If you are the sort of person who goes to a fish and chip shop (clues in the title folks) to eat keebabs and burgers you might not notice or care about the fish but we do. Sorry - I used to sing your praises but not in recent years.
Crispy, crunchy and oh so good fish and chips.
Im a regular. Can soneone tell me whats happened to portion sizes? Bought large cod and chips tonight, cod very very nice (as always), but really reduced amount of chips. Left wanting which is a first.
Tail end chewy fish today rather than cod fillet as other people have said. Soggy Chips also. This is the second time we ve had this since Christmas. It s also the last time
Overpriced, small portions, had chips a couple of times and never great
It was ok but not special
Nicely cooked fish and hot. pity chips were almost cold, would appear that they were standing around while fish cooked.
Exellent quality. Fish and chips
Cold peas,,why?
As a local customer I popped in and grabbed a cone of chips on the way back from the train station. The lady made them, added salt and vinegar, asked me to pay - and then refused to take a card payment under £5!! She pointed to hand made sign with a biro pen min £5 written under we accept card payments . Tbf I only ever spend £20 plus as I usually go for the whole family. So I was a little surprised to find in this day and age a minimum card payment. The fish is also cooked in large batches and left to dry out. I ve been there on quite a few occasions where the fish has been a tail end and dry. I don t understand why fish and chip shops can t cook to order like down the coast. They clearly put profit over customer service and I shan t be going back as there are plenty of other good chippies in Barnards green.
Feels expensive
Went to pay with a Scottish £20 note and was told that they dont accept them. Thought Id fallen into a time vacuum and gone back 30 years. Clearly this chippy has not evolved. Get with the times guys, its 2023!!!!!!!!
Good chippy with friendly staff. Fish was nice and crispy
Always reliable and great fish and chips never fail to impress
Order incorrect (overpriced mushy peas somehow did a vanishing act after ordering). Service quite grumpy and no salt and vinegar on chips despite asking. Very slow wait (granted they were busy) and overpriced compared to alternatives nearby.
Very disorganized shop tonight.slow service and when I checked the order in the car before leaving they had forgotten part of the order. The chips were awful. Just a mush of potato stuck together. I have bought fish and chips from this shop many times and not experienced anything like this. It was Saturday 5th August. at 6.50.
1st going there food was excellent 1st class chippy Ill be back
Terrific fish and chip shop!
Fresh food, large protions - love it!
Hi , trouble is that most fish and chip shops , cafes etc are generally struggling in 2023 with the economy as it is. We have been using Barnards Green Fish Bar for years. Is the chippie perfect , no but I have never had a bad meal and my only complaint is that the chip portions are to large.Chips will vary throughout the year depending on what potatoes are used. Please if you have had a bad meal phone them up and inform them you were dissatisfied with the meal. If you feel that you comments are not taken on board then take your custom elsewhere. Parking: Street parking outside the shop.
Best chip shop in Malvern, in my opinion.
It was ok. Had kebabs for me and the wife. The usual bulk fare from a chip shop. We ve had fish and chips recently too. They were ok too. You know what I mean.
Delicious fish and chips!
Not long moved to Malvern and this is the second time I have been here. Quality is consistent and food is lovely. Thanks.
Excellent fish and chips and lovely friendly staf
Tonight was dry cold steak and kidney pie definitely not a pukka which they used to serve . Luke warm sausage. Chips good . Seems now doing click and collect which slows everything down I mean if you cant go to the chippy an que how important must you be
Arrived an hour early, as said I had put through as ASAP order. Was told on way Confirmation on my order delivery between 18 10 and 18.30 not asap. Appreciate cannot change the order but arrived at 17.20 so, wasnt on its way when contacted, and actually cold. Not impressed. No one to eat them very disappointed use this chip shop every week
As good as any in Malvern I havntvteally found a bad chip shop yet
Absolutely shocking behaviour from the chippy ! Got a large mixed meat and chips and for £8:90 you get Absolutely no meat !! Its shoking ! Rang up spoke to the manager and was apauled at how he spoke to me , no manners and had no respect . Avoid this place if you want to waste your money !!!
Beautiful food. Clean tidy and friendly staff. Will definitely be going back to the. For my fish n chips .
delicious and on time delivery too my husband loves a kebab and he was delighted i had cod and chips and that was lovely too.
The best fish and chips with fantastic service
I personally won t go to any other chip shop. Maybe more expensive then the other chip shops in Malvern but you pay for what you get. The food is great and is always hot and amazing staff as well
Superb cod.
Fish not freshly cooked. Small chips only enough for a child. Tasted OK but nothing was that warm. Have had a lot better.
Had 5 fish and chips, 1 pie and chips. £72!! Crazy times. Worst of all the fish was terrible, dry, flavourless, chips not much better either. I reckon £45 of it went in the bin.
Excellent
Best fish and chips in Malvern
Most excellent fish and chip shop. Fresh fish, yum
Gluten free poor
A nice decent fish and chips
Grate staff
Very nice fresh fish
Great portion sizes, competitive prices and friendly staff, great place to go for a traditional fish and chips, great flavor too!!!
Best tasting for miles. We travel 6miles each way for ours when we have a fish & chip shop 1mile down the road.
Had a choice of two other fish and chip shops including a mobile one at our campsite. So pleased I chose Barnards. The fish was beautifully cooked, the portions where excellent and the service was good.
I really liked it - fish had a thin crunchy batter, chips were thick and potato-y. I prefer my mushy peas sweeter (less salt) but overall a very nice takeaway.
Fantastic food never had a bad meal yet
One of best cod -chips and curry sauce ever, well done Al and all the great team you have.. ..
Best local fish and chip shop, no doubt. Wide range of food on offer. The fish and chips are superb. Prompt and covid-safe service. Gluten free fish and chips on a Friday and Saturday and have never given our daughter with coeliac disease any issues. Highly recommended.
Great Fish and Chip shop. Fast efficient service from lovely staff and fantastic food
Wow!! Our last night on holiday and we fancied fish and chips! We was so impressed with tonights take away from here. We ordered the mini fish and chips which was cooked fresh and was great value for money! It was easily enough for a small adult! We also had meat and chips which was equally as delicious! The amount of people coming in while I was there, you can tell this is the place to go!
Always wonderful
Gorgeous. As proved by the queues Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.
Good portion of chips at last.
Been here a few times now, really enjoyed the chips very tasty and fresh, the battered sausage was great and Im told the fish was good as well
Best chippy in the UK. Reason I love it so much is because of Elliot (who deserves a pay rise) makes the finest chips I ve ever put my lips around 10:10
Top fish and chips.
Great fish and chips. Fast service and great prices.
Good food and value for money
Best fish and chips in Malvern, very friendly staff!!
Very good chippy
Nice, friendly and affordable
Saw the reviews and went for it I was just passing by but not a great choice... 1st I think he deep fried the burger and I was given no salad in it but eating it was sickly as the cheese was white and creamy with a soft deep fried patty.... Standard chippy chaps there is one down the road I wish I stopped at now and the price was a joke... Sorry but not great
Best haddock Ive ever had, lovely treat dinner
Had fish and chips from Barnards Green Fish Bar many, many times and has always been to a very high standard. Staff are friendly and courteous. Long waits on Friday evenings which is a testament to the quality of their food!
Excellent food and delivery. Social distancing observed by delivery driver.
The best!
Nice fish, very fishy
Fabulous food and great prices. Friendly staff
Super lovely service! We didn t mind waiting the extra few minutes for fresh fish to be cooked as it was the best fish and chips we have had in the UK! Highly recommend
Great gluten free selection.
Best fish and chips in the Malvern area, always worth the drive to get them from here...
Very tasty, generous portions
Amazing fish and chips!
Best chippy in malvern
Probably the best fish & chips in this part of the world :) Freshly prepared food for very reasonable price and even though Im not one of the smaller person, Ive had a big problem to finish my cod with chips so its definitely worth to wait few minutes during busy periods.
Great fish and chips. Huge portions. Highly recommended
Ok place
Great fish & chips at good prices
Whole family enjoyed extra large fish & chips, veggie burger salad chips & battered sausage chips for 2 adults 1 teanager 2 smaller children £ 22
Nice food
I agree with most of reviews below, that this an excellent fish and chip shop. Massive portions, fish super flakey. Bit pricey but worth it. Re covid there was only one member of staff that did not have a mask, but they were behind a plastic divider, and there was a sign that asked only 3 customers queue in the shop. Another plus they had a box of umbrellas for us to use while we queued in the rain.
Decent enough portion and quality of chips. Would come here again.
Excellent chips and their fish are first-rate!
Awesome fish and chips and the best kebabs in town. Wonderful. And have managed through lockdown to stay open safe and friendly. Cant fault them.
Shows how popular this Fish Bar is when I waited in a queue of 30 when across the road in the other Fish Bar there was just 1 at the counter. Always worth travelling to if you want the best.
Great service from the team, and just as great food, particular fan of the Barnards Green Specials, great value for money, also chicken Kebab meat is amazing, Great prices too.
Great fish and chips. Ill be going back.
Very good service and food very good, and good portions
Large queue ( good sign) but not a long wait. Large cod and regular chips. Still had to leave a lot of chips!
Always excellent quality and service!
Good fish and chips. Slightly expensive.
Excellent fish and chips, the que, which moves quickly should speak for its self...
Nah
Standard. By standard I mean excellent as always. Its the standard for this chippy. Everything is always spot on, never an issue. Good value for money when you consider portion size by return. Always clean and tidy and the staff appear fresh, polite and helpful. Keep it up.
Sorry, not overly impressed. Gave this fish shop a go because we have seen good reviews but we were disappointed. Fish (haddock) was chewy and the batter soggy. Batter on the roe was really thin. Chips werent great...lots of little bits and no big chips...biggest was probably only about an inch and a half long, if that. Saving grace, my grandsons Donna was really good. Maybe they were just having a bad day, I presume this must be the case as most reviews are good, but as we drove from Powick to get there, we wont be giving it another go.
The food is great and the portion sizes are incredible but it is quite pricy. I suppose you get what you pay for
Best fish and chips in Malvern, always busy - which reflects the quality.
Nice fish and chips
Best fish in malvern,
I come back from the sea side to go to this chippy, its the best.
Used to be best in town but recently revisited and the chicken kebab was honestly the worst Ive had in 40 years of life. Dire.
Although the Fish Bar is excellent ,I was actually next door at the Hing Tai Chinese
I ordered with yourselves for an office leaving meal. Called the night before to place a bulk order, arranged timings, and proceeded with the order. I arrived a tad early the next day and the food was all ready and waiting (for 11 ish people) . Very pleased, would order again, not sure if yourselves offer the crunchy orange chips, but would be there all the time if so. Curry sauce was amazing too, portion sizes were great, I actually struggled to eat mine, I had fasted all morning as I was informed of the sizings. 10/10
Tasty
Well Tasty
Yeah good service and great food
Very good chips and good service
Great fish and chips
The best fish and chips within a 30+ miles spotlessly clean, very friendly staff and a quality product, well worth a visit you will not be disappointed.
I ve always been really happy with the service but yesterday not only did we get the most smallest fish I ve ever seen! Classed as medium my gold fish is bigger than what they call medium! Not happy 4.50! I thought the revamp looked nice but clearly your making cut backs! And now they charge for sauce with a special a lot has changed and not in a good way, the lady who served us was nice that s the only good thing that came out of that! We won t be returning
Good value for money. Great f and
Five star fish and chips everytime.
Busy shop but food is superb and great service and excellent value for money
Great food
Really excellent takeaway food
Excellent service
I think it was just an off night. Great theyre open Sunday evening, great they offer Gluten free, great that theyre friendly, happy staff. I started to wonder what the fish and chips would be like when they commented to each other the oil was filthy, and then said to us they hadnt had time to change it all evening. I was still looking forward to the gluten free battered fish (a rare treat), but sadly as I opened the parcel of food, it was so soggy all the batter was stuck to the paper, and many of the chips had too. Shame. But Ill try them again.
The best fish & chip shop in Malvern.
Great fish and chips, cooked fresh, you cant go wrong.
Probably the best pice of fish I have had in a long while
Great food
Great fish n chips, friendly & helpful staff...
Poor quality
Expensive but excellent quality
Yummy...what more can I say#
Great chip shop
In short. The best chippy for miles around. Excellant
Great fish and chips and they do gluten free Friday and Saturday....
Great food but service is often slow. How do they run out of ready fish so often even though theres a constant queue on Friday night? Put more in!
Its ok and very clean, but not blown away with the taste of the food and a bit expensive.
Excellent fried halloumi and chips
Big portion!
Best fish and chip shop in Malvern! Serves gluten free fish and chips on Friday and Saturday evenings
Food is great but its like a rugby scrum to get served.
Organised a large group meal. Pre ordered and when I arrived it was all ready to collect and all individually labelled making it easy to dish out. Really good quality and service
Amazing Gluten Free fish and chips on a Friday and Saturday evening
Best around you simply will not beat this Chippy for quality
