Abbey Rd, Great Malvern, Malvern WR14 3ET, United Kingdom
Elegant, historic hotel offering polished rooms, some with hill views, and a relaxed restaurant.
I really enjoyed my stay in The Abbey Hotel. As the name suggests the hotel was right next door to the abbey and in the centre of the town and yet out of my bedroom window I could see the stunning Malvern Hills and the beautiful hotel garden. The staff were so nice, accommodating and made me feel very welcome - nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was also beautifully decorated for Christmas. Checking in and out was extremely easy as it was online so no queues at reception just peaceful calm. Thank you so much to all the staff and especially the lovely Denis.
Very warm welcome from the reception staff as I arrived, room was easily accessible for me (I use a crutch most of the time to get around) only two little steps to walk up. The room was spacious and the bed was nice and comfortable. I did have a slight mishap with pressing the wrong button on the tv remote causing it to go to a blue screen but one of the staff was more than happy to come and show me how to fix it (I had accidentally changed the source -oops!). The breakfast had a good selection , the cooked options were excellent and the staff were friendly. I did sit for a little bit on my second evening in the Priory Bar, the staff were again very friendly and I must say you do a very nice hot chocolate. Check out was nice and easy.
I stayed one night at the Abbey Hotel. Absolutely stunning building, beautiful interior and perfect customer service. Beautiful room with bay windows overlooking the car park and Malvern Hills. Christmas decorations throughout the hotel, felt very festive. The breakfast was very tasty, the poached eggs were cooked perfectly. Thank you.
There is nothing I can fault about this hotel. I have just stayed 2 days for the College of Sound Healing conference. The hotel is beautiful and set right next to the Abbey and at the foot of Table Hill. The energy in Malvern is amazing. Calm, still and yet bright. All the staff at the hotel from check in, Room staff and restaurant and bar staff could not have been more helpful. I had a large double room with a huge bed that overlooked the front of the Abbey. Heating the bells in the morning was so nice to wake up to. The food put on for us (approx 150 people) was incredible with a great selection of salad, main dishes and incredible desserts. I will definitely book to stay with my partner in the future as I want to explore the area more. And the natural spring water well just up the the road.
We stayed here for the weekend of our wedding. The team is amazing and couldn't do enough for us. From the initial enquiry to the check out, the day after, they helped us with whatever we needed. The bedrooms were huge and all guests that stayed commented on the size. The Breakfast was lovely too both mornings. We would recommend this venue to all.
Lovely weekend stay. Excellent location. Very nice hotel, lovely lounge and bar area. We had a bedroom at the front of the hotel which was spacious and comfortably furnished. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back.
A short stay last week. I had not visited Great Malvern for close to 20 years. Wonderful visit. Weather was poor but the town has a great energy and if anything the low cloud and mist added to the experience. The Abbey hotel is perfectly located in the town to explore. The service was great including front desk, bar and restaurant. The hotel itself sits within an attractive shell, which I only wish you got a better sense of when inside. The long corridors and slightly odd layout + basic rooms were fine and did not detract. The place for sure would benefit from modernization but I would still highly recommend and if offers good value for money.
This is an unusual blend of bland corporate and beautiful country house style hotel. The main building is clearly older, think Abbey style, which has been well maintained. Reception staff are very pleasant and welcoming and able to answer any question you might have. There is plenty of lobby space to sit and read or chat while the bar will serve a wide range of drinks. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Well heated and clean. The car park is a good size and located very close by. Do register your car with Reception! The hotel has a lift to help with access. The restaurant is a good size so there is plenty of room for guests. Staff work hard to service all needs.
Great hotel in a beautiful location and good food Rooms: Large and comfortable Food and drinks: Good quality food and good choice of drinks
A great one night stay on our way to Stratford upon Avon. Very comfortable room. A great restaurant, and very friendly staff. Rooms : 5/5
Close to the theatre and town. A lovely hotel with a lot of personality. Nearby activities: Close to Malvern Theatre Rooms : 5/5 |
We arrived to find we had been allocated a lower grade room (looked more like a travellodge family room. ) wasnt able to have the curtains open due to being overlooked by the adjacent corridor. Bathroom, badly cracked basin, mold in the shower cubicle. Food not as expected. Got our order wrong, so my husbands food was cold by the time my arrived corrected. Compared to one of your sister hotels it rates poorly. Rooms: Executive rooms are not 4 star
We stayed here whilst we attended a wedding recently. The rooms were very clean and well maintained . The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast had really good choices and the staff kept the tables clean and tidy for people to use Food and drinks: Food we had was of excellent quality. Didnt have to wait long for it to arrive.
Lovely hotel. Very warm room. Good buffet breakfast. Excellent location for a quick hike up to the beacon (40 mins from the hotel).
As always the hotel staff were welcoming and friendly and we had no issues checking in at all. The room however was not as good as our first stay. The coffee machine was broken. The seals on the windows were not great and let in alot of noise and cold air. This was not offset by having the curtains closed. This is very much not the normal for this hotel and just a one off. The bar and breakfast were as good as always with great food and drink. I will definitely stay again but not in that room until the window issue is resolved.
Lovely little weekend break. Great staff, clean comfortable rooms. Fantastic breakfast great value for money. Definitely recommend this place. Thank you.
the hotel is right in the centre of the town. right from the start had truely wonderful service from all staff we were in contact with. price for our stay was good value for such a wonderful room and good food.the place was spotlessly clean.all staff smartly dressed. room was very clean.bed very comfortable.it was good to see managers being hands on . staff in the resturaunt were really swell trained in their duties.you have very good chefs.thank you for making us so welcome. will certainly visit again.easy to check in and out.it was so good we could pay a fee and use our room until 4pm on the day of our departure
We could not have made a better choice of hotel. Delicious food, impeccable service and the staff were super friendly and helpful. We loved our stay there and would recommend it to anyone. Nearby activities: Close to shops, historical buildings and amenities. Easy walks due to ramps ad well as stairs as the area is hilly.
Interesting imposing hotel brilliantly located adjacent to the Abbey and Great Malvern town centre. Rooms: We had an Elgar room in the newer extension of that name. It was perfectly adequate if a little bland. I can t compare it with older original rooms that may be more characterful. Nearby activities: The Abbey on the doorstep plus all that Great Malvern and the Malvern Hills have to offer Walkability: You can easily walk most places in Great Malvern and up the Malvern Hills from the hotel.
Brilliant weekend, lovely hotel, good food and great location.
We booked 2 consecutive dance holidays with yes2dance at The Abbey 4 followed by 3 days so a full week. The staff were always friendly and helpful despite the mayhem we were creating pn a couple of days. Room eas clean and serviced every day. We had breakfast and evening meal which in a group can be a challenge but they handled it without drama and I enjoyed them all. Additionally if Ian and Penny of yes2dance are running a holiday and you dance then highly recommended but you have to be quick as they sell out fast.
The Abbey Hotel never disappoints - the staff are all very welcoming and hospitable, the rooms are always very comfortable and spotlessly clean and the breakfasts are superb! It is always such a treat to revisit and to take advantage of the fact that the theatre and cinema are just a stone s throw away - perfect! Rooms: The rooms are spotlessly clean and spacious with very comfortable beds and furniture. Nearby activities: The theatre and cinema - a 5 minute walk away.
Visited the Abbey for a dance break hosted by Ian and Penny. We really enjoyed our stay. Our room was clean, warm and comfortable and close to the ElgarSuite where the dancing lessons were held. Food served in the restaurant was excellent and we particularly enjoyed our evening meals. Breakfasts were tasty, personally would have preferred Greek yoghurt/ walnuts and more healthy continental options. Staff were very friendly and attentive. My wife is disabled but mobile and she managed to get around the hotel. In our opinion access and the layout of the hotel would be challenging for people with more severe mobility difficulties. Hotel is ideally situated at the foot of the Malvern Hills and near lots of cafes and small shops. Nearby activities: Walks up the Malvern Hills
Lovely overnight stay, not expensive, good full breakfast. Couldnt make WiFi work at night.
Rooms: Well appointed very clean with comfortable bed Rooms
Very friendly and helpful staff. Our room was modern, clean, tidy and comfortable. The lounge bar was very quiet, comfortable and inviting with meals being available all day, plus a beautiful spacious restaurant downstairs. During our stay, we had to test our fitness by going on the Worcestershire Beacon Walk which is adjacent to the hotel. We were blown away with this beautiful historic hotel and would recommend it to anyone.
For us there is only one hotel to stay at when visiting Malvern and that is The Abbey. As ever, we have not been disappointed on this occasion and look forward to our next treat.
Food and drinks: The food takes this to different level. It was outstanding Rooms
Rooms: Comfortable and clean Rooms
Only downside was the power of the shower and the parking being miles away from the entrance. Unless you get on street parking which is outside.
A very comfortable stay at The Abbey again. Room was lovely. Breakfast was very good. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms
Noteworthy details: Wifi could be improved Rooms
Rooms: We had a very comfortable room with a huge bed which was very comfortable. The en-suite bath and shower were of a good standard. Although not modern everything was immaculately clean and well presented. Rooms
We have visited The Abbey Hotel every year for the past 6 years and I can confirm that over the period the quality of service, comfort and sustenance has been impeccable. Our overall experience is easily an 11 out of 10. We whole-heartedly recommend The Abbey Hotel, Great Malvern and all who work there.
Lovely hotel with great architecture, large rooms in the original building, less so in the newer extension but still not bad at all. Its my go to hotel in the area every time
Not worth the price with poor food. The hotel itself is a lovely building, and the location is convenient. The staff were friendly, and the room was adequate (but not four stars in my opinion). However the food is really poor and vastly overpriced. I had a steak for dinner, which was over £30 with a sauce. It was tough and overcooked. I had a brownie for dessert (£10!) which was tiny and had the consistency of cardboard. Breakfast was similarly poor. Limited choice, and the scrambled eggs were completely inedible. Overall I wouldnt recommend. I was staying here with work and Im glad I didnt have to pay - I wont be back. Food and drinks: Very bad
Beautiful, period building nestled in the foothills of the Malverns, the Abbey provides an excellent and welcoming base for exploring the many trails, or the local town. Staff are attentive and friendly, the hotel is well maintained throughout and has a cosy feel. Bedrooms are spacious and fitted out to provide all the things you need. Restaurant breakfast and dinner superb. Look forward to visiting again
It has been a delight to spend a few days at The Abbey. There is ample car parking within attractive well maintained grounds. (The car park is located behind the hotel but it is possible to drop off or pick up right outside.) The entrance is rather grand and Reception is welcoming and efficient. The public rooms are spacious and comfortable. It is extremely well staffed with charming professional personnel and nothing seems too much trouble. My room was perfect with wonderful views over The Priory, the gardens, distant hills and the sunrise. Nice hospitality tray, ample power points and plenty of hot water in the ensuite. Excellent breakfast, good lunch/snack menu and well prepared and presented dinners.
Very pleasant experience. Incredibly helpful and supportive staff. Room was fine and reasonable amenities. Good simple food. Not as expensive as I expected. Very cute town and interesting history.
Lovely hotel and well placed. Fabulous weekend making good use of the dance floor, a few issues with the noise from the bar area disturbing there sleep, better planning from the hotel putting the dancers in 1 area over the bar and dance floor would have helped the situation. The food was very good and hot.
Rooms: Room was spacious and clean, not a good view from room as a large concrete store was right outside the window. Bathroom lights flickered. Walkability: Very easy to walk into town Food and drinks: Food quality was good, albeit a little pricey as were drinks, typical of hotels. Limited choice of wines and beers. Noteworthy details: Staff were pleasant
Easy booking. Central location. Comfortable room. Great breakfast. Second stay with the hotel and will return.
A brilliant Dance Weekend with CCJ.
Great wedding night room. Fabulous breakfast, nice staff.
Fantastic hotel, great location for the town, but also plenty of rural locations to explore and visit by foot or short drive. Plenty of history in the area and the hotel feels like its full of charm and suits the area. Staff have always been freindly and helpful, food is of a decent quality and a fair price, cleanliness and quality of room couldnt be faulted. Will be returning again
Stunning building, amazing location, the rooms are very clean. Delicious food and the staff were genuinely nice and very helpful. Thank you, everyone, for looking after us!
A great hotel to stay for Malvern Theatre Great welcome and super staff. Fabulous breakfast
I cant rate the rooms as I was there for a day conference but the service was excellent and the staff helpful and efficient. Its an old rabbit warren of a building in a lovely location - very much my preferred type of hotel.
Excellent for a dancing weekend Rooms: Rooms were clean and spacious Food and drinks: Wonderful meals and service
We enjoyed it stay at this hotel which is presented sympathetically within its historic buildings. Room well equipped and comfortable. Staff very attentive and friendly. Rooms
Had a coffee with a friend. Lovely setting. First waiter not so well trained as the second. Eg. could have offered a slice of lemon with the sparkling water.
My second visit and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Exceptional stay at this lovely hotel. Nice room with comfy bed and large bathroom. Very helpful and friendly staff. Good choice of food available at the restaurant and reasonably priced. Good free breakfast available too. Overall great hotel with plenty of character features.
2nd visit to Abbey Hotel (Ian and Pennys dance weekend) Rooms: Clean, comfortable and cosy. Fantastic weekend - extended by one day Rooms : 5/5 |
Love this place
Stayed here for a wedding at the same venue, room clean comfortable and spacious. Staff exceptional in their service and friendliness. Appreciate the free WiFi and the onsite parking, plus incredible views from the window. Rooms: Decent sized double with large bathroom, just what we needed. Food and drinks: Room service offered a real varied menu at great convenience - definitely recommend the Malvern Pudding. Breakfast was brilliant, great price included and a good range of hot and cold food.
Beautiful hotel, first class staff, conveniently located.
Lovely large room, beautiful views. Staff are attentive and helpful
A classic English hotel with style. Friendly and very helpful staff, great rooms, free parking (unusual for our time), great location for day trips, long walks etc. You can really relax here. DANGER: Not for the hasty transit tourist who chases himself from one extreme to the other.
The hotel itself is beautiful on the outside, the general staff were really pleasant. The manager we encountered was unnecessarily rude and inhospitable.
Rooms: Comfortable bed. Clean. Very hot towel rail and puzzling shower taps. Walkability: Hilly with steps in places Food and drinks: Varied cuisine. HBA beers was a favourite.
This is a nice comfortable hotel. We stayed in the Elgar rooms, ours was spacious, large bed, nice bathroom. The rooms arent noise free as we could hear the neighbours conversation quite clearly at 1am in the morning one day. The food was excellent, very attentive staff. Car parking could be an issue if they are hosting a wedding and an event on the same day. Luckily we arrived early and found a parking space, but we did hear several guests arriving later were having difficulties parking.
Beautiful hotel in a wonderful location. Rooms are comfortable and the food is great. One of my favourite hotels to visit!
Rooms: Warm and comfortable Hotel highlights
Weve visited before about a year ago. Back then, my wife who has a plant based diet for health reasons, found it impossible to have something different for her meals every day. This time it was even harder, as some of the choices seemed to have been removed from the menu. One night she ordered the vegan burger, as shed had it before and enjoyed it. However, when it arrived, something seemed to be missing. She took the bun off the top, which was practically inedible, to find what I can only describe as a pavement pizza inside, a bit like sandwich spread. It was very disappointing and she couldnt eat it although she did try. The options when staying for seven nights as we did, are very few. And really did spoil the whole experience. Having said that, the staff are amazing. Some are still learning the trade, but some like Jonnie in the bar and also Karolina went above and beyond. We did have an issue with the bed being too hard, but it was resolved with a mattress topper almost as soon as we reported to reception. As Ive already said, your staff are amazing. The pictures below shows the view from our window of the church next door , the view across the Severn valley and the room itself. Rooms: Our room was really spacious and had great views. We had our two dogs with us and that wasnt a problem. We didnt sleep well the first night as the mattress was too hard, but when we informed reception, they put a mattress topper on it, which resolved the issue. The floor in the bathroom needed attention, as some of the tiles were loose and cracked. Other than that, it was home for seven nights. Nearby activities: The hotel is situated right at the bottom of the Malvern hills, so is great if you want to walk in them. We did every day and usually ended up in the Red Lion on the way back. Theres a cafe on the way up to the summit called St Annes well. It caters for veggie and vegans alike and I can really recommend the homity pie. Food and drinks: If youre plant based like my wife, the choice is really limited and you will struggle, but theres more for veggies. I didnt have an issue, but as always, it depends on the chef on duty. I found their burger buns almost inedible.
Yes Lovely Rooms: Very Comfortable. Nearby activities: Shops , Country side to explore. Food and drinks: I enjoyed the food
Nice hotel
Husband booked this hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary I was pleased with his choice, on checking in we were informed we had been upgraded complimentary which was a lovely thing to do, our room was on the first floor with outstanding views of the abbey and the surrounding area. It was a very comfortable room with a double bed and sofa and chairs. Well equipped with a coffee machine, large TV , iron and ironing board and beautiful robes and slippers to wear. We don t eat our evening meal here, we ordered a bottle of wine and then headed out. The location is perfect. Close to the town centre and easily walkable to the restaurants and bars Breakfast was gorgeous everything you could want, from cereal, cold cheese and ham, pastries and a full English , perfectly set us up for our day sightseeing l, I would most definitely book here again and will recommend to family and friends . Thanks Abbey for an enjoyable and memorable anniversary.
Always enjoy staying here. Having the old cathedral right out your window makes for wonderful views. Enjoy drinking from the springs and walking around markets on the weekend
Had a lovely break at the Abbey for my Birthday with my Husband. Great location, gorgeous looking hotel, warm welcome, great room with everything you need. free drinks voucher for booking directly is a great touch & your bar man was very friendly and knowledgable. Only thing to let you down sligtly was the breakfast room staff. Was very chaotic and unorganised. need to spread out the breakfast time slots, and not let eveyone book at 9am, especially when you have weddings on. The younger lady on Sunday tried to put us in a board room to eat! very cold in there and full of unused pictures etc. had to put my foot down and say we would not be eating there! Was told it was the receptions fault, but by the by, dont blame others, just rectify in best way possible, i.e. if the restaurant is full, let us eat in the bar, in nicer, warmer sorroundings, or offer breakfast delivered to our room.
Service excellent.Breakfast varied and good.
A four star hotel in a great location that is not a typical bland and corporate four star offering. My room was spacious and comfortable. The whole hotel was charming and elegant. An excellent breakfast was served that was the best I had during my trip to the UK. Plenty of public spaces to relax in, complete with comfortable sofas and armchairs. Ample free car parking. My only issue was with my key card not working on a few occasions, which meant having to go back to reception to have it reprogrammed.
Faded grandeur relies on location, not product. Rooms: Reasonable. Got water readily available for a shower but with very narrow baths. Bath mat did not do its job of holding feet in place. Food and drinks: Overpriced. Service very average. Dining room and menu despite for an overhaul.
I spent 5 nights on a Ramble Worldwide holiday walking the Malvern Hills. I had a comfortable single room with modern facilities. The breakfast was great - I had porridge freshly made and there were lots of fruit and yoghurts etc to add to it. I particularly liked the dinner menu as there was a different one each night and 4 choices of Starter, Main and sweet so always something to my taste. Beautifully cooked and nice sized portions without being too big. I hate being overwhelmed by portion sizes and the plate piled high. It was a very comfortable and relaxing place to come back to after a 10 mile hike and there was always lots of hot water for a shower or bath. Would highly recommend. Rooms: I had a small but adequate single room Food and drinks: Good menu choice and very tasty
We stayed for two nights at the Abbey Hotel. This was our first trip to Malvern (beautiful town) and the hotel did not disappoint. The staff were very welcoming and organised an early check-in and an upgrade. We could not fault the food/drink. We stayed for a wedding on Saturday night and the food was incredible. The in-house DJ was excellent. A very enjoyable visit and we will stay at the Abbey Hotel again. Loved hearing the bells from the Priory peeling on Sunday morning. A completely lovely weekend. And those pillows!
This is a great hotel in the Malvern Hills. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and breakfast offered a wide variety of breakfast items. The bar was comfortable and the drinks reasonable. The staff was excellent from making the reservation, answering questions before arrival, during the stay, and during checkout.
Great stay, and absolutely no complaints. Highly recommended. Rooms: Very clean and well equipped. Comfortable bed and good sized room. Food and drinks: Food was five star and couldn t fault anything as service was exceptional.
Great stay at the Abbey. Even if the bedroom was so hot in july. But we had 2 fans. Great service and breakfast. I will recommand it!
Attended a wedding reception here. A lovely hotel, friendly staff. Lovely location. The rooms (lobby, toilets and event room) were clean and fresh with a character to them. Cant comment on rooms as we didnt stop, but I will definitely keep this hotel in mind if the opportunity arises. Oh! The food was tasty, too! Buffet was filled with a great variety of nibbles. Filled a hole!
Excellent 3rd visit will be back. Nearby activities: Museum and living well Walkability: Eay to walk into town, park, theatre and church
Very welcoming polite helpful great service at meal time good food and menu Rooms: All you need for a for facilities clean Rooms : 5/5 |
Lovely hotel. Great staff. Nice overall experience. You could find faults or flaws if you really tried but all I will say is I ll be back!
Great place for my friends wedding!
Had a fabulous couple of nights here, hotel was super and the town of Great Malvern and the Malvern Hills were just what the doctor ordered! The town has lots of lovely coffee shops, bars and restaurants and the hotel is literally across the road from the steep climb to the hills. The hotel was a great mix of old and modern and the room was super comfy- we will definitely be back!
Lovely place to stay. Great food and superb staff.
Rooms: Spacious and clean. Very comfortable bed. Walkability: Close to hiking trail Rooms : 5/5 |
Lovely stay. Beautiful part of the world.
Nice friendly staff set in a beautiful location with stunning views over the 3 Counties from the rear of the building
Stunning hotel in a great location :-)
Always stay at The Abbey and love it every time, everything just works; location, staff, bedrooms, restaurant first choice in Malvern.
A lovely post Xmas Break festive decor and lovely staff we enjoyed luxury Club Room upgrade with stunning views! And we had snow!
A lovely hotel with freindly, helpful staff.
Ive just been to see the venue for my Neices wedding next May what a beautiful place, polite people. Lovely setting, but I cant say about the rooms or service until May thank you
I stayed for 5 nights as part of a Ramblers group holiday. Despite initial problem getting to reception and my room, my stay was very enjoyable. I requested a non pet room prior to arriving, and i was allocated 110 on the first or rather lower ground floor. The room was handy for the restaurant and not overlooked. Loved the large bath towels. Dinner was a choice of 4 options for starter, main and dessert as we were a group. Good choice every day, well presented, and efficient service. Staff were smiling and genuinely made guests feel special. Breakfast good as well. Location great for the old town and access to the ridge of the Malverns. Only downside the steep walk up from the car park. Signage could be better especially if entering on the accessible level where there is no signage to get to reception or bedrooms on that floor. Drop off doesnt work for solo travellers and confusing on arrival. Rooms: Spacious but creaky floorboards, annoying at night Walkability: Lots of stairs and levels; steep walk up from car park
Really friendly greeting from helpful staff. Rooms were great - spacious, clean and comfortable. Location is brilliant. It was unfortunate and not, perhaps, the fault of the hotel that a wedding party thought they had rights to the whole building blocking corridors and bar access and wandering around noisily through most of the night as well as disrupting the breakfast buffet. Would stay again but check first that there were no weddings!
Food in bar was disappointing. Staff were excellent. Nice hotel.
Great looking building in lovely surroundings. Perfect for exploring the hills and town. Room was compact but comfortable. The decor and bathroom were a little tired, breakfast service was fine. Staff pleasant. Would recommend based on location
This hotel is fairly new. The staff were brilliant, the food really good, and the room very comfortable. We will be back.
Superb ! Rooms: First class Food and drinks: EXCELLENT FOOD AND BAR
Central location for Great Malvern. I could check in on-line prior to arrival, along with booking extras if needed. Clean modern rooms
Came back having been really happy last time we were here. Staff so welcoming and friendly. Food lovely Room (we were upgraded - Thank you!) was fantastic. Will be back, but for longer than our recent 2 night stay. Definitely recommend Abbey Hotel.
A first class Hotel
Attended a wedding, the food and service was brilliant. Great location.
Overall, price did not reflect experience. Adequate, but certainly not luxury as expected. I stay in hotels weekly and this failed to live up to expectations for price. Rooms: Room was too hot with no air con. Threadbare duvet cover. Two power sockets only, one used for fan. Decor and room tired and in need of an update. Food and drinks: Breakfast was adequate but quality of food failed to meet standards of budget hotels. Overall disappointing for the price.
Room was nice. Bed was big. I unplugged phone as the light was bright and next to the bed. You couldnt shut the room door quietly. Rooms: Bed was big and comfy. Couldnt shut the door quietly Food and drinks: Breakfast was lovely. Evening meal was ok. Waited at least 10 minutes everyone I went to the bar. Drink was ok
Abbey hotel is a charming character hotel with amazing views and location. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Food and service are second to none. Will definitely go back .
Its very rare we give full marks but The Abbey deserve it. The location is great with plenty to see and do around and about. The room was great with everything you need for a comfy stay. It was immaculately clean and well maintained and during the night it was really quiet. Breakfast was plentiful and well cooked with lots of choice. Mainly we need to mention the excellent staff. They are polite and courteous and seemed genuinely happy to help. We came to the Abbey 45 years ago for our honeymoon and it was good then, but in all areas it is now excellent...thank you.
Lovely hotel, great location not far from town. Close to restaurants and pubs. Staff at the Abbey very polite and helpful. Will definitely stay here again. A really relaxing place with a great breakfast to start the day off.
Could have been brilliant but we weren t invited to the wedding with the thumping music. We just wanted a nice quiet hotel room. Cost a fortune to not sleep Rooms: The hotel has too many stairs that go up and down and back up again for guests carrying suitcases! Then there is the fact that the hotel was hosting a wedding to which we weren t invited except to enjoy the incessant thump of music. Then the bed! Two singles pushed together to make a king - that s not unusual you say! Well the mattresses were different - heights, feel , everything. My husbands so hard he got up with a bad back. Mine so springy I got stabbed in the back/sides/fronts ! Have you ever slept with your head on a rock? Try the pillows at the Abbey Hotel. The shower you ask, well over a bath , acceptable. But a meer drip. Good points there was plenty of hot water!
My husband and I spent 1 night at The Abbey on our way to North Wales. It was a wonderfully comfortable break in our long journey. The food is delicious and they have a selection of non dairy milk, which is good. The staff are all friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely - clean and comfortable with all the things needed to make tea and coffee. Rooms: Our room was clean, comfortable and larger than we had expected but this probably because we had forgotten that wed booked an executive room. Food and drinks: The food is delicious. They cater for a variety of dietary requirements, such as vegetarianism and veganism. They also stock some non dairy milks. At breakfast, you can choose from buffet style and cooked.
Nearby activities: Theatre just round the corner Rooms
Always good service, friendly staff
The room was small but neat. The shower area is not for you if you are claustrophobic. Dinner was very average. The Abbey attached to the property is ancient and a walk around is very much recommended.
Great place to stay, nice rooms, good breakfast. Great location
The Abbey comes with great promise, but the experience was not quite up to the level we had expected. The hotels location is excellent, very central and right next to the abbey. We received a very warm welcome by the friendly and attentive staff, and we also appreciated the free welcome drink (as we had booked directly). But we soon got the impression that the hotel felt a bit dated and in need of a face-lift. Our room was just OK. A bit annoying, though, that it was not possible to open the windows by more than just an inch. Bathroom a bit disappointing, with shower over bathtub. The hotel could be fabulous - and perhaps was in its heyday. But it felt that it hasnt quite kept up with time, which is a shame.
Lovely break. Would not hesitate to go back.
Nice modern rooms in an historic setting.
Location is very good with easy parking at the hotel too. Only a couple of minutes walk to the centre with its great views, pubs and restaurants. We were in a room on second floor and one of the worst mattresses I ve ever had to try and sleep on. The decor of the room was very dated and very, very tired. The receptionist wasn t really interested as she asked me how was my stay I honestly replied very poor sleep due to awful mattress, she simply offered that I wait to tell the head housekeeper. Breakfast was OK but very basic standard fare buffet style and make your own toast and hot drinks so no service provided, overall not worth the £160 price tag. The hotel looks great from the front and the ground floor was decorated in keeping but after that it has most certainly seen better days. Rooms: We all were on second floor and all 4 rooms were old and dated.
Stayed at this wonderful hotel again and never disappointed ,super service, friendly staff, fantastic room, and the food excellent. Be sure I will be making a return visit..100% satisfied. Rooms: Clean and comfortable with views over the Malvern Hills Walkability: Fantastic walking along the Malvern Hills Food and drinks: Great menu and fantastic variety.
Lovely place to stay!
This was our second visit this year, but the most restful ever over many years. Our welcome was warm, our room brilliant and all the staff working in perfect harmony to ensure our visit was wonderful. We enjoyed our room, our luxurious bed and bedding, the grounds, the hotel facilities and the food from the recently updated menu. The Abbey is particular in being responsive to customer needs and this is why we come back again and again. All the staff in front of house and behind the scenes deserve praise, no less the hotel manager.
Sri has been terrific! Lovely to chat to and a natural host. He made us feel instantly welcomed and valued. Love this place, will absolutely come back and for anyone thinking about it, ask to speak to Sri.
Was treated for my birthday afternoon tea was delicious Food and drinks: Lovely afternoon tea Service : 5/5 |
We upgraded to the club room, advertised as the biggest and most luxurious room . Big it definitely was, luxurious it was not, dated furniture and dated bathroom suite for £165 a night. The hotel is supposed to be a four star, but in my experience dated bathrooms with shower curtains and rusty shower poles are NOT four star. Breakfast was very average and dinner was lacking seasoning all round. Malvern as a destination is amazing though, very picturesque-bring your walking boots. Walkability: Perfectly situated
The reception staff were very helpful as the communications between my companys booking system and The Abbey had not completed the booking. Thank you for that. Hotel was lovely as usual and the staff were grand.
Unfortunately we were given a room with scaffolding in front of the windows and windows that did not close which was both noisy with lorries arriving early in the morning plus not feeling the room was secure. We were advised we could not change rooms until the next day as the hotel was fully booked. There was no compensation offered and the manager just shrugged her shoulders. Very unhappy.
Beautiful hotel, great staff and lovely rooms Rooms: Very clean could not fault it Walkability: Very central to the town very accessible
Excellent all round. Hard to fault
This is an awesome hotel, they have beautiful and comfortable rooms and helpful staff, especially the reception staff at the front desk, especially this gentle lady named Zalene. When I arrived that day I found out that I had not booked a room due to my own negligence, she did her best to help(like an angle to me). Help me, a foreigner, from living on the streets.
Wow, Why are all the staff not only professional, but so naturally happy and smiling and welcoming. Is there something in the water, the beautiful location or in the air or how you treat your staff. Apart from a mess over the first nights food (Wed 3rd) that we had supposedly not paid for. In fact we had over 26 people from 3/8/ to 7/8/ and my wife and I were booked in and paid for five nights. Fortunately Paul Harris dealt with it with diplomacy and politeness. It appears a disconnect between the lettings/group staff and the reception. The accommodation was exceptionally good. The food was really good quality, but the staff WOW especially Caralena, what a star, Heather, Harry, Mia, Zelaine, Ramona, Demetrius, smart, polite and welcoming and so good at their jobs.
Third time we have stayed at this hotel and have booked to return next year. Need I say more. Walkability: In a matter of minutes you can walk to a lovely park, Malvern Priory, shops, cafes, pubs and the foot of the Malvern hills.
Recently visited to celebrate our wedding anniversary, our room was lovely and clean. We arrived a little before the check in time but our room always ready and we were able to check in which was helpful. Breakfast was delicious, plenty of choice. All the staff were friendly and attentive. Great location Only a short walk to bars and restaurants and visiting the Malvern hills. Only downside is the carpark gets very busy!
Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and found the staff very helpful and friendly. Great location for walking around Malvern Close to several pubs, restaurants and cofe shops. Wouldnt hesitate to stay here again.
From start to finish, The Abbey provided a great, central place to stay wirh excellent and friendly staff. Rooms were lovely and very clean.
Nicely positioned friendly hotel Rooms: Comfortable clean room Rooms : 5/5 |
Lovely hotel and a bonus they accept dogs (but not in the bar or restaurant) great location drinks very expensive and not a great selection of wine and beer
This place is amazing
We had a lovey stay here, the hotel was lovely and in the perfect spot for our walks. The food within the hotel was also really good and we did not have an issue. Overall enjoyed our time and would visit again.
Such a lovely place to stay. Profesional and helpful staff.
We had a fantastic wedding day last year and returned to spend the night for our anniversary and it once again was a fantastic place to stay. Highly recommend!
Fabulous hotel great food freindly staff and wonderfully comfortable beds. Walkability: Centre of the town nice park over the road Rooms : 5/5 |
A great hotel that deserves to be on everyones shortlist.
We have stayed her maybe 20 times or more over the last 10 years or so and always found the Abbey be a superb venue, with excellent staff and facilities, and having just chosen to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary here - be sure we will be back again as soon as we can arrange the time off. Many Thanks
Very efficient welcoming staff. Location in Malvern is fantastic. Very comfortable and clean.
Very nice place but disappointed by my fish and chips Food and drinks: Disappointed with the dishes
Wonderful period building in a lovely location. The room was clean and comfortable, albeit a little naff. Rooms
Rooms: Excellent Rooms
Great location.
Lovely location for access to the town by foot and Three Counties Showground by car. I came across polite and friendly teams in reception, bar, restaurant and cleaning.
Rooms: Good size Rooms
Great location for the theatre only 5 mins walk. Hotel ok bit dated nice free breakfast. Not very happy with defensive reception staff when I asked why I had to provide my date of birth and a credit card when I had already paid in full. They just kept saying its security.
Lovely hotel, great staff , making our dance weekend amazing, will be returning in 2026
Rooms: Small not good value.. Basement!!! Rooms : 2/5
It was a busy day in the hotel,a wedding and birthday party,we found it difficult to park due to people there for their celebrations, however there would usually be ample parking available I suspect, reception were very helpful in getting us parked, situating us under the drop off canopy which was most appreciated..Great check in system..room was lovely, shower was good !! Hotel has a lovely atmosphere..we were in the restaurant for our evening meal, you can eat in the lounge area too, same menu...excellent menu, something for all and very reasonable prices..staff very attentive and knew their stuff,I wouldve liked to have left a tip, however, this is where the only thing of our stay disappointed us,,the bill had an automatic 12.5% service charge,I do not want to be forced in having the tip decided for me,I have a golden rule of not being told what I will tip hence the 4* review not 5. Everything else was 5* but this will always let it down for me...ultimately the hotel has let the staff down here as I do not leave a tip of any kind if forced.. if this wasnt on there then I would have absolutely left one..food was lovely, the steak and ale pie was probably the best Ive had, plenty of meat..pizza Im told was great to,we liked how you could add a choice of toppings, making it individual..reception again fave us plenty of milk n tea as refills when asked..breakfast was also lovely, there was always plenty of the full English,I never saw anything running out, always being topped up,a very tasty breakfast, again one of the best weve had, husband particularly happy there was black pudding !! Overall an extremely lovely stay, hearing the Abbey bells ringing out on the Sunday morning was lovely too !! Rooms: Very comfortable, great shower
Rooms: Dire Noteworthy details: To be avoided Rooms : 1/5 |
Stayed in a classic double room for 2 nights. Very clean and comfortable, only issue was loose noisy floorboards. Very good choice available at breakfast, lots of staff on duty looking after guests well. Fast efficient check in and check out.
The Abbey Hotel and surrounding area is steeped in local history. The venue itself is picturesque and set in a fantastic location close to the Town and at the foot of the Hills, including the Worcestershire Beacon. I was greeted with a warm welcome from the reception staff, who told me everything I needed to know for my stay. The bar and restaurant are both furnished to a very high standard with plenty of room for me to choose where to relax, either in the comfort of a sofa or lounge chair and enjoy refreshments in the well serviced bar with views of the distant countryside and overlooking the Abbey, adjacent to the Hotel. The room itself was very comfortable, clean and well serviced. Plenty of room and well furnished. The complimentary glass bottled water and border biscuits made a welcome and seemingly luxurious change from standard hotel offerings and the WiFi was easily accessible with good coverage and speed. The bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows and cushions to choose from and I enjoyed a restful night sleep. I enjoyed a cooked breakfast in the morning which was delicious and freshly prepared to a very good standard. The lighter options such as cereal, pastries and fruit, yoghurt etc were also available with plenty of fresh food to choose from. Checkout was seamless and as it marked the end of my stay, I was immediately left wanting to return at the next available opportunity, I will be staying here again for sure.
My wife and I have stayed at the Abbey on a number of occasions in the past. We keep coming back to the hotel as it is so friendly and laid back. The rooms are to a very good standard and the food quality is excellent. We find the staff to be very helpful. The hotel itself is set in a perfect location and there is no doubt that my wife and I will be returning to the Abbey at a future date.
A lovely stay :) Rooms: Really clean and spacious :) Nearby activities: Great walks! Food and drinks: Anupam was an amazing local Indian restaurant. Absolutely delicious.
What a fabulous grand hotel in the heart of Great Malvern with easy walkable access to the Malvern Hills. Quality running right through the hotel the lovely staff to the quality furnishings, the food, the atmosphere and the lovely lawned garden at the rear a great place to sit and chill. Rooms: Quality furnishings, beautiful bed linen, heavy double curtains that keep the huge room cosy and quiet. Walkability: Right in the heart of Gt Malvern with direct access to the Malvern hills just a few minutes walk away. Noteworthy details: The gorgeous little garden at the rear of the property backing on to Malvern Priory a quiet place to sit and chill.
Lovely hotel with lovely service, rooms, staff and great views
Very enjoyable stay, only one night this time but still a nice break. The staff were all friendly and helpful, rooms were excellent, breakfast was also excellent. The only very minor downside was we all prefer tea and coffee to be brought to the table in a pot rather than make at a machine. Lovely hotel, excellent location and we will definitely be staying again
Room was ok but nothing special, felt quite tired and worn. Hot water stopped working in our room multiple times Nearby activities: Great walks
Lovely Old Style Hotel with its own charm, in an excellent position to explore Malvern and the surrounding hills and countryside. Reasonable rates for both accommodation and food with a helpful staff to ensure a comfortable stay. For anyone with walking difficulties, ask for a room by the lift as with most old British Hotels, there are some steps around the corridors, also most rooms have a bath with shower over, you have to ask if you need a walk-in shower.
Spent a very enjoyable Coronation weekend at the Abbey. Staff always very attentive and very good breakfast. Always very quiet for a good night slept. Views always lovely.
We very much enjoyed our brief stay. Breakfast was good. Our room was nice and incredible value for money. We were very impressed with the addition of a free drink.
My first visit in many years to this superbly located historic hotel. Sarova Hotels have evidently invested a lot of money into refurbishing the rooms and dining areas to a high standard, to good effect. Our Elgar King rooms were smart, comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast was good, service was friendly and efficient. All in all, a delightful place to stay, good value and in the heart of glorious Great Malvern, with magnificent views of the Priory and the Malvern Hills.
Excellent service beautiful food and great location
Wonderful stay, staff are all lovely and attentive, great rooms , fab breakfast and we enjoyed a great evening meal
This is a Great Hotel in Central Great Malvern! Lovely Room with excellent bed and bedding! Great Food throughout the Weekend! Breakfast was Amazing and can ask for Vegetarian Sausages and other breakfast specialties. Excellent Staff Service over both days. Really Enjoyed our Stay Thank You!
Just love this place.
The only downside was the shower was disappointing (as a 6ft person you couldnt stand under it and there wasnt a great deal of pressure). The staff were great, the bed was large and comfortable. Good breakfast and a nice bar.
We stayed at The Abbey for a long weekend in April. Its quite expensive and I would stay somewhere else next time. Great Malvern is beautiful though so we will be back for that! Positives - the surroundings, and by that I mean the building, its locale, and the picturesque countryside - are lovely. We really enjoyed the area the hotel was in, it was nice & quiet. The interior of the hotel was clean and very pretty. Breakfast was good with a separate vegan breakfast menu which is lovely. Negatives - the king size bed was two single beds pushed together and the mattress topper did not cover the large uncomfortable lump that the two beds made in the middle. Pillows were enormous and rock solid. Room was boiling and window barely opened. We tried to turn the heat off which left it on low - more bearable. The bathroom door has a lock but it doesnt work, you can just push the door open. The bathroom sink is incredibly low. The room itself got so bright in the mornings meaning we couldnt sleep in - the sun streamed in the bathroom window at dawn, which in turn streamed through the glass bathroom door meaning we couldnt make the room dark. There is an in-room phone with a luminous green screen, not sure why that is needed! The room was so bright, so hot, it was generally uncomfortable
Good hotel, good rooms, good breakfast, excellent parking. Very handy for Malvern town centre and theatre. Nearby activities: Well worth a visit to the theatre.
Visited for dinner. Excellent food and staff in a traditional hotel setting.
My wife and I just attended a dance weekend at the Abbey. Cant fault it, room, food, staff. Will definitely return if we can Peter B Rooms: Excellent
Rooms: Lovely and clean Rooms
I was very impressed by the way staff catered for my vegan diet - one in particular remembered my dietary requirement from one day to the next and this personal touch was most helpful. Other hotels I have stayed in havent displayed that level of attention to detail. Rooms: Comfortable Walkability: Fairly central
Spent 2 nights here. Wonderful staff in a good location. Rooms were comfortable and there are good views over the Severn Valley from the bar and restaurant. Rooms: Nice size and comfortable beds. Tea and coffee making facilities and good selection of toiletries. Rooms are quiet. Walkability: If you have mobility issues advise the hotel in advance to avoid having to have step free access to your room. Food and drinks: Breakfast is buffet style. Full English breakfast available. Good selection of drinks at the bar and not excessive in price for this type of hotel.
Nothing really to fault. We had a problem on two occasions with the electronic door keys but this was rectified quickly. A beautiful old building with lots of atmosphere. Quiet and comfortable. We are regular visitors and we have always enjoyed our visits
Great night stay and Murder Mistery 57 Visted the Abbey Hotel, Malvern as a package with Murder 57. This was a Murder mystery (Marriage Bureau plot) dinner, 1 night and breakfast. All great. The Hotel was loverly and welcoming professional staff. It was clean and tidy. I visited with another couple and both rooms very similar. One was in the newer part and ours was sort orlf above reception. Both had a bath, Complimentary coffee and use of a fridge. Bed was comfy with no complaints. The dinner was lovely l, tasty and well portioned. The soup starter was apparently very spicy and feedback was welcomed. The breakfast was also great. Buffet style but included hash Browns and black pudding. Coffee machine with good coffee and good selection of juices. Overall can not fault it. The Murder mystery was great fun. Fully recommend it. 2nd one Ive done and enjoyed both. All the role actors stay in character and you can have a good laugh with them, cant recommend enough. Special mention to Jan, he was behind the bar on the evening 23/2/24 and then creating at breakfast. Excellent customer service, friendly and very professional. Overall great experience. Thank you.
We travelled as a small group of friends and were received warmly by the hotel staff. Nothing was too much trouble and we were always greeted with a smile. The room was compact, but it had everything I needed and was comfortable. Breakfast was very good too. The Abbey Hotel is in a great location in Malvern, I will definitely go back!
Another super stay, as usual. Staff very pleasant and surroundings relaxing.
I always enjoy staying here. An exceptional level of service and very comfortable. A traditional hotel in the best sense of the word.
From the time we arrived at the Abbey Hotel we were made to feel valued and welcome. Without asking we were offered help with our luggage. The duty manager came within a few minutes and collected our assortment of items which she cheerfully took up to our room for us. All the staff at the hotel are helpful and friendly, and seem to enjoy their job. Our room was lovely and spacious and the walk in shower was a real bonus as I am recovering from a broken leg and can t get into a bath yet. The hotel s location was perfect for us as we were able to walk to the shops or the Priory next door, but pop back to the room for a rest when we needed. We really enjoyed our stay and intend to return when I am fit as we still need to climb the Malvern hills. Rooms: Our room was spacious and had great views of the Priory and countryside Nearby activities: Great Malvern is a fascinating town with plenty of historical interest which is all accessible from the hotel
Lovey hotel right next to stunning views and lots of walks and shops to browse through. Our room was very comfortable and clean . Food was delicious would definitely recommend
Gorgeous views from breakfast room and from our Executive Double (401). Warm and relaxing throughout. Enjoyed the spacious and relaxing bar. Well-organised and good quality breakfast, especially superb croissants. Really got great pleasure from the welcoming and efficient staff, who multi-tasked and showed impressive teamwork - congratulations. Noteworthy details: praiseworthy option NOT to have housekeeping in your room - especially if youre staying just two nights.
I stayed in 430 and the following issues.... *The bathroom window doesnt shut meaning I was cold throughout the shower, and whenever I went to the bathroom *The shower top bit was broken so either too hot or cold water and had to shower with cold and the hot water would have burnt me.... I now have a cold and struggling at work *The light on the left side of the bed wasnt working - I always sleep on the left and half way through the night needed water and banged my leg looking for any switches *Only one plug socket which is next to the tv I told the reception and she didnt seemed fazed Not happy with the experience
Food and drinks: Great breakfast Rooms
Shoutout to Demetrius for being incredibly resourceful.
IMPORTANT : Accepts dogs :-) Lovely old renovated hotel, literally attached the Mavern Abbey. Couldn t ask for a better location. Lovely, recently decorated room (freshly painted !). Nice bar area. Would have preferred a shower cabinet instead of bath/shower, but small issue. Good value overall. Heartily recommended. Rooms: Freshly decorated Nearby activities: Fantastic walks round the Malverns Walkability: Hôtel is fine. Malvern though has some very steep hills.
Nice hotel Walkability: Centre of town Rooms : 3/5 |
Lovely stay in comfortable hotel.
Very pleasant stay
The staff are friendly and efficient, the food was excellent, the room was spacious and the bed so comfortable. Add to that the spectacular hotel itself and beautiful surroundings- this is a fabulous place to stay
Clean, spacious and welcoming. Friendly staff, and delicious breakfast.
This is great value for a comfortable mid priced hotel. Complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits. Bath/shower,iron,hair dryer, comfortable bed and seating and no lack of heating on our cold mid winter visit. Breakfast was well above average for the price point of equivalent hotels. The only oddity was the complimentary bottle of water, which was from Harrogate instead of Malvern! Happy to recommend.
