Lovely country pub, fabulous home cooked food...fabulous Sunday lunch!
We had a great Sunday lunch with nice wine on a chilly damp sunday for the 2 of us and our dog. Dogs allowed inside too.
After a walk on the hills with my brother and girlfriend, we came to the Chase Inn for lunch. This was our first visit here so were not sure what to expect. I have to say that this is one of the best all round experiences I have had for a few years. It is a comfortable albeit bijou pub restaurant tucked away in the Malvern Hills. The menu is limited but there is certainly something for everyone. My brother hade Chilli Con Carne with rice and chips, my girlfriend had Ham, Egg and chips and I had a Double Burger, Chips and Coleslaw. We all enjoyed our food which was well cooked and very tasty. My brother is quite food fussy but delighted in the chilli, commenting how flavoursome it was. The chips also had an extra something which I found delicious. Overall the food was excellent and, with two bottles of spring water and a pint of larger shandy, came to a reasonable £54. The staff were absolutely delightful and deserve a special thank you. A well earned 5 stars.
Fantastic place, really enjoying our few hours hanging out. Staff were friendly and welcoming and very attentive. Would visit again.
This place is wonderful! Great beers, great food, and even better views and atmosphere. Cannot stress enough how badly you should stop on for at least a pint.
Food was delicious! Also area to sit outside with a view. Inside is a bit dark and small though.
Excellent pub with good choice of beers, a tempting menu and a lovely sheltered garden with extensive views. Attentive service too. Ideal stop after a walk on the hills
Lovely people, prices and place. Great food. Great drink selection. Don't tell anyone about it though, it's the perfect size and I don't want it to get too busy.
Good experience,good food,good service,good atmosphere.Recommend.
Lovely old pub, great welcoming atmosphere.
Proper boozer
Nice cafe in a beautiful place
A lovely place to stop off for a drink on a fantastic warm day..bar staff very attentive and friendly excellent service and all was very well presented and clean....
A fantastic, quiet, local pub, with a breathtaking view.
Lovely little country pub
Great food, superb views from pub garden. A little gem.
Not a bad place to stop off for a beer or two after a good walk on the Malverns
Fantastic views over Herefordshire and the Breacons in the distance. Great local pub atmosphere.
Pleasant nice pub. Limited room to eat and no real space for drinkers
Nice cosy atmosphere with a lovely fire next to the table. Beer garden would be lovely in the summer Im sure.
If you can find it, youll be back! I dont know of many places that serve draught perry.....
Very nice food! We came to eat after visiting Malvern. Very friendly staff would highly recommend.
Excellent Sunday lunch, friendly staff and comfy atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Nice garden with pleasant views
Had a lovely stop off here with friends on a walk. Very dog friendly and the food was great.
This pubs garden enjoys a wonderful view, west over Herefordshire to the Black Mountains and the staff are lovely. Great pit stop on the way home.
Lovely little hidden away pub in the Malvern Hills, beautiful beer garden with stunning views. Will definitely be going back
Beer was good and a nice pub visually, but the food was really poor. We waited 40 minutes for the food to arrive and the pub wasn t busy. When it did arrive, we couldn t cut the overcooked pie pastry as it was so hard,; all the food was extremely salty. Overall, not a good experience foodwise.
Hidden gem. Nice Ales and food. Great views.
Fabulous pub to sit in the garden and watch the sun sun below the horizon supping one of their excellent beers
As lovely as this little pub is with stunning views we booked a table for 10 people for Sunday lunch at 12.30 to celebrate our daughters 40th birthday. One of the first to arrive we ordered lunch. Just over one hour and forty minutes later we were still waiting for service! Food finally arrived the meat varied. A couple of small roast potatoes only on a couple of plates with no yorkshire puddings on two plates (they had ran out!). Vegetables quickly blanched so extremely hard, we couldnt cut through the broccoli and parsnips. We were not charged for this disaster of a birthday Sunday lunch but they should be better organised. If they have reserved tables they should be given priority and not serve people first who have not booked.
Absolutely love coming here, always a good vegan option available, friendly staff, dog friendly (obviously, its Malvern) and great atmosphere. Views not bad either!
Friendly staff, lovely sandwiches and fantastic views from garden
Great food, great views!
This was just a quick lunchtime (snack!) visit having chosen the pub for the view presented on the website! Sandwich, whitebait and cheesy chips were all pleasant. The garden is reached via a narrow and slightly uninviting pathway around the side of the pub, making it a bit of a trek to go the the bar or use facilities. They do however bring food outside once youve ordered. The views are extensive from the upper terrace of the garden area.
A lovely place to spend time, refuel & enjoy some liquid refreshment A proper pub Food
Great food and views from the garden - be careful though they close late afternoons until the evenings.
Booked early it got busy as the lunch progressed. excellent value for the money . staff very helpful Vegetarian options: Just on the menu Parking: Get there early
Good Sunday Lunch served by pleasant staff
Very old traditional pub with excellent views across to Wales. Food is good quality.
Such a beautiful old pub. Grrat atmosphere, dog friendly, kid friendly . Great pint. Sadly disappointing food. Beautiful view Food : 2/5
Amazing food, and the views were stunning. Hopefully return one-day.
Charming and friendly country pub
Lovely little pub with a good selection of beers, friendly staff and lovely beer garden
Great place to stop when walking on the hills, good to sit in the garden in the sunshine.. Revisited in 2022 beer choice more limited and food not quite up to it 2023 Stopped off for sandwich and beer... both good
Food was OK staff were lovely and friendly onions rings were amazing 1
Excellent Sunday lunch for our group of 7. We did pre book and pre order our food. Lovely.
Good beer.
Lovely pub, great food, top service. Fantastic family neal
Loved this place but difficult to park however would recommend
Wonderful atmosphere, great beer choice
Friendly, unfussy pub - very convenient for the Malvern Hills. Nice beer and sound food.
Excellent that is all I need to say
A very welcoming venue with outstanding views and delightful staff.
Excellent pub at the edge of the hills. A great garden, with views. Good service, beer & food options.
Nice old style pub, great choice of drinks and food but most people go for the stunning views over the Herefordshire countryside.
Friendly service and lovely garden - slightly limited ale selection.
Lovely pub. Friendly staff, good food and a great selection of real ale and cider on tap. Beautiful beer garden to enjoy the evening sun located to rear of pub. Well be heading back again for certain during our stay.
Beautiful pub with a good wine selection. Games to use so you can play chess by the fire.
We went for a rare day out. Had fish and chips, sandwiches. All were fantastic. Drinks we spot on with a good choice of local drinks too.
Beautiful garden overlooking the Malvern Hills. Lovely little pub. Friendly staff. Lovely place to relax with family or friends.
Really nice pub with friendly staff. Incredible views from the garden. Decent beer and cider on draught.
Brilliant food but not Mon or Tues
Very friendly staff, lovely views from garden and good selection of ales.
Nice place but not keen on food and waited a long time
Great view of the Malvern hills
Popped in for a lite bite lunch with a mate. Great setting, lovely garden and good food at a decent price!
Traditional country pub with great views
Really friendly place. And dog friendly too.
Gorgeous view. Could do with more parking
Just had a delicious meal at the Chase. Simple menu, great outdoor seating area. Competently managed by Charlie & his team.
Nice location and decent beer
Delicious food and beautiful garden! My family enjoyed our dinner here.
A brilliant discovery down a quiet country road. Only found this inn on the day before the end of holiday. It serves lots of hungry and thirsty walkers from the Malvern Hills. Would recommend a lunch in the beer garden.
Beautiful pub- gorgeous views and very nice staff..lovely owner ( we also love swan inn ) very good food ..but bit sad about dreamweavers not served there anymore well..two years later and views are the same gorgeous and breathtaking but food very disappointing ..burnt chips, fried eggs were dry and more like hard boild...we waited over half an hour for food.. so go therr for pint yes for food big NO.
Such a cute little pub!! Dog friendly and lots of choice of drinks. Would highly recommend the pear juice!
Lovely pub. Hidden on the Malvern Hills. Fab views. We travelled by bike.
Lovely country pub and gardens. Great food and beer
Fabulous beer and cider. Lovely rear garden with lovely views . Great service by beautiful young lady
Fabulous.... visited the weekend of 17th/18th September and enjoyed some potent still cider and a roast lunch in the beer gardens to the rear. Wonderful views and delicious food, served speedily with interesting garnish. Staff were more than helpful, the landlords cheerful smile and sense of humour were a breath of fresh air..... I highly recommend visiting this wonderous establishment, you will not be disappointed.
Wow. What a find: Great beer. Great service. Great food and great, the best, music
garden pub with some local character, family friendly serving roast lunches and roast sandwiches accompanied with Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes or chips, good value but not gourmet.
Like a time machine, it feels very 90s without the cig smoke. Average selection of drinks, food ok. Arrived at 17:55 but had to wait 5 minutes for food to start being served. Felt like Micheal Douglas. Close to hills, worth a detour.
Good prices great atmosphere.
Fantastic! We booked at short notice and was met by friendly faces and a pre laid table in this lovely cosy gem of a place. The menu was small but a very good variety. Food was served after a short wait. We were very impressed with the dishes we ordered - kids enjoyed too! We recommend this place highly. Thanks guys.
Fantastic Sunday roast dinner.
Lovely country pub. Fab views
Well managed visit, fully Covid aware. Great pint and good food. Service excellent.
Disappointed, we sat for at least 30 minutes before our order was taken. Others came after us and were served and eating before we had even ordered. When we did get a drink, it wasnt the best. Shame as this was our first pub experience post lock down. On the plus side Covid measure were in place and most people were following them.
Good pub with a nice beer selection. Did was pretty good but small portions
Very good cider, lovely staff thanks .
Lovely little pub with great views from the back garden
Lovely location with great service. The food was tasty and big portions too. Definitely worth a visit.
Busy, small delay in food being prepared, but staff helpful, courteous and attentive
Service: attentive, friendly. Food:very tasty and good value. Good veggie/vegan option. Gorgeous location. Great to see the professional manner that a member of staff dealt with an unnecessary criticism from another party. I will definitely be back!
Very nice food lovely garden with spectacular views , could use some shades for tables ( appreciate this might hamper the view!l) but very hot when we visited
Fantastic views, great beer, friendly staff. Love it here.
The steak and ale pie was one of the best Ive ever tasted, and the beef sandwiches were about half an inch thick in meat, great service and location, with a cracking view from the beer garden to the rear
Great boozer, stunning views from the beer garden.
The Chase is a favourite haunt of ours with many happy memories, especially as a welcome spot for lunch when walking the length of the Malvern Hills. The weather was kind to us, so we were able to sit outside and enjoy the views of the Herefordshire countryside. The pub was busy and, understandably, the sandwiches we ordered took their time to arrive. However, the service was friendly and the food was excellent. I thoroughly recommend the Herefordshire Beef sandwiches - great layers of tasty beef! For our vegetarians the vegan sausage sandwiches also went down well. Excellent beer! Some of our group were not sure about continuing the walk up to the north end of the hills but the lunch and the rest meant that enough energy was restored to continue. We look forward to our next visit!
WOW a hidden gem in the Malverns great beers and ciders with home cooked food.
Always a good selection of beer and reasonably food.
A friendly, quiet and pretty watering hole near the top of the Malvern ridge. Good beers, food quite good too.
Great spot for a drink after walking the hills. Lovely beer garden too.
Great little village pub. Beautiful garden with a cracking view. Friendly staff and a good selection of Ale. Food looked superb although we missed out on that this time.
Nice beer, nice service and ok food.
Gem
Good selection of beers and barman very accommodating
Very relaxing and friendly service
The staff were friendly, welcoming and looked after us. 3/4 good real ales not the ubiquitous Doom Bar stuff. Great food with a good choice on the menu. Traditional English country pub set on the west side of the Malverns. If that wasnt enough there was an unspoilt garden with fantastic views across Colwall and beyond. No wonder Elgar was so inspired. A great location when trying to factor in a walk on the Malvern Hills
A great lunchtime venue and the views outside over the rolling hills are a great! A no nonsense pub menu with real home cooked meals!
Splendid Sarnies n beer at .midway on a days walking the Malvern Hills
Lovely pub garden with pretty flowers, good seating and stunning views.
It was very nice.
Visited with my lady for a special vegan event, lovely food, very nice garden with a stunning westward view, friendly welcoming pub!
What a little gem this is. Great beer, excellent simple no fuss nosh, views to die for. Highly advise you pull off the main drag and follow to country lanes to this pub.
Great little Pub.
Perfect
Good pub food
There is only food at noon, and the rest of the time it is just a bar. Its very popular and the decoration is very stylish. Its a good place to have a drink with friends after climbing the mountain. It feels great to make a living in winter.
Lovely Sunday roast, friendly staff
Came across the Chase Inn whilst out on a walk. Lovely little local with friendly staff, great beers and food. Highly recommended.
Great little cosy pub, good food and excellent views
Surprisingly we missed this on a CAMRA Worcs/Malvern beer trip as its a great pub in a lovely location with gorgeous views. 4 decent real ales on offer and the food seemed popular and looked good.
Lovely place
Cosy, old world
Decent pint like
Good food, great beers and warm welcome.
Good view outside the back
Great food, excellent ale beautiful view
Great pint with one of the best pub views in Malvern
Beautiful old inn with a lovely beer garden with fabulous views.
Beautiful garden with stunning scenery! Set out perfectly for our new social distancing. Dogs allowed and staff very friendly! Steps into garden can be awkward for those with mobility issues but worth the effort!
Good food & drink & great views!
Fabulous pub. Easy walking distance from the malvern hills
Food nice could have done with a chicken dinner rather than only having beef on offer
Love it, great beer garden xx
Great tucked away place. Food could be better
Good beer and a great view from the garden.
Bar staff are as great as the views.
Highly recommended stopped here on a walk look forward to returning. Food fresh delicious.
Table service only but lovely range and nice staff. Great pub.
Maybe a nice place to sit down for a drink, but Sunday Roast turned out to be a massive let down, small portions and really bad potatoes, besides they expect you to pay before your order arrives, just to compare with some other pubs in Birmingham I find this place with low standard, shame coz we were really awaiting decent meal....
First class lunches all round for the family: fish pie, beef and ale pie brimming with gravy, herefordshire beef burgers and classic ham, egg and chips. All super tasty. Staff were friendly and helpful.
This is a wonderful hidden gem. Friendly and welcoming. Fantastic view and log fire to snuggle up to. Really recommend the beef and ale pie as well.
Great beer and great views from the garden
Fantastic pub with a beautiful beer garden. Food is amazing. Recommend the fish and chips.
Sat in the garden with a pint of Bathams... What could be better
Lovely garden with views
Fabulous lunch in lovely location with friendly staff - highly recommended!
A proper pub and a cracking walk to it over the hills
Great little pub, great views, nice atmosphere. Great team running it and the steak and ale pie is amazing
This used to be my favourite pub in Malvern. Superb beer, food and service in a garden with a superb view of Herefordshire. Changed hands so not any more. Beer choice is poor, Jobsworth staff: arrived just after 2pm: too late for food, not even a sandwich. At least the view is still good.
Only walked by it
Excellent atmosphere, Excellent Beer.
Authentic country pub
Lovely place. Stopped for a few drinks. Very friendly.
Great traditional family pub serving wholesome quality meals at a reasonable price 10/10. Amazing views in the beer garden too.
Large portions, good menu
Great place. Just make a stop there and you will dont want to leave.
Manager , no personality, communication skills. Not suitable for a country pub.
