Cosy European-style lounge & bar featuring creative tapas, sangria & imported Spanish beers.
My husband and I have come to Remy Tapas multiple times in the past and really enjoyed the food; however, we recently had such a bad experience that we are unsure if we will return. I called tonight to book a table at 8:15pm. When we arrived, the restaurant was busy and it took 15 minutes for us to get seated. While we were waiting, my husband overheard one of the waiters swearing at the computer screen when he was trying to input an order - not off to a good start. After we were seated, we were ready to order drinks and were ignored by the waitress. She served the table on one side of us food and another table behind us drinks, but walked past us without checking in, even though we were clearly waiting. We had to call another waiter over who took our drink orders, then got told the beer my husband ordered was not available so he had to order another one. He came back to give us water and I asked for food menus. He came back and gave the table next to us all their food menus but then walked away and forgot to give us ours. I flagged down another waitress for the food menus again. Once we had a look and were ready to order, we waited 10 - 15 minutes and again, no one approached us. I called one of the waitresses over and told her we were ready to order, but she said she had to get another waitress to take the order. She left and never came back. We sat for what felt like a long time again and ultimately decided to leave as the service was clearly disorganised and chaotic tonight. When we got to the counter, the manager looked perplexed at why we didn't have food on our receipt. I told him we'd been here for 45 minutes and no one came to take our order. He gave the most unenthusiastic and half-hearted apology and still charged us for the two drinks that we did not even finish. We've never had to leave a restaurant mid-way like this before. Luckily we weren't dining for any special occasion, but it was still really disappointing. We ended up going to another local restaurant for dinner where the service was 100% better. Judging by some of the other reviews, Remy Tapas seems to be a real hit and miss and they really need to review their customer service standards.
Had a wonderful time here! Went for an last minute birthday dinner for my dad headed in at 8:30. The dishes came along quickly all together. Food was absolutely delicious - just on the expensive side for tapas for how much food you get. We brought our own cake and sparklers, the staff were very friendly and accommodating by setting up the cake and candles. They took photos and had lovely conversations with the Owner! The service was lovely, warm and inviting. Would definitely come again!!
Very tasty food! We shared a selection of tapas plates and enjoyed every one of them. Quick service, but well paced so we could enjoy each course freshly prepared by the kitchen. In holidays and a friend had recommended we visit here. Chilli Gambas, Paella’s , Black mussels & Jamon Tabla can highly recommend !
Delicious Sanish tapas food with good old fashioned friendly service! We booked a table last minute Saturday night and had the best time. Tasty food, shared plates perfectly timed, great ambience with live entertainment made for the best night out. Topped off with a beautiful Italian bottle of rose. Highly recommend 👌
A lovely spot. Nice cocktails, good wine and delicious food. Great live entertainment on a Saturday night with a Flamenco Guitarist offering entertainment. Make sure you book a table as it gets very busy.
Was here with a few friends of mine. Some things were quite good. Loved the mussels, jamon and the rest of the tapas we ordered were tasty. Unfortunately I felt there were a few things that could be improved on. When we were set at the table, we were given no water or menus. Had to ask for water a few times. The main dish I was looking forward to was the black ink paella. It came in an hour and a half of ordering, and it was served in a pan on top of wood board. The serving pan is not what the paella is cooked in, so not sure why you would make it look like it was. (The pan was not hot to touch at all) What was served was more like a risotto than a paella. Was off to a good start but I left a little disappointed given the service and the experience.
Lovely ambience with dim lights and background Spanish tunes playing. The food was very tasty and reasonably priced and lovely service. We will definitely be back.
The food here is very nice and there's a huge range to suit all tastes. We had the patatas bravas, fried rice balls, croquettes, whitebait, steak, lamb backstrap, seafood paella and churros. All dishes came out in a good time frame, were well portioned and enjoyable. The churros were a little hard though and not like the ones you get in Spain. Restaurant is quite noisy so it's hard to talk, even at small tables. They leave the front door open so it's a bit chilly if sitting at the front. Will return.
Food was really good staff were really freindly I will definitely be coming back and one of the staff people love my Mercedes f1 short the button up one
Delicious Food . Friendly Staff
Fantastic food, wine and atmosphere Thank you Paul and team for a great day. All the staff are friendly and welcoming. The food was outstanding the seafood dishes a highlight.
Good food and service. The paella in particular was delicious
Over priced at $107 per person for the tiny dishes we received to share were pathetic kids meals sizes and the Service was very slow and not welcoming. Who needs to get robbed in the streets of Melbourne when you come here. The pizza on the way home was the highlight of food
If youre looking for great service, great food (and plenty of it) and a fantastic ambience then this IS NOT the place for you! Last night paid $110 for a supposed feed me menu and the servings provided were so small I actually had to stop by Maccas for dinner on the way home! The service was non existent and care factor was 0. Will not be returning and I suggest if you want a great night out just go to your local pub!
Best service best food and even better people always a joy going to Remys
Paul and the team are the Real Madrid of Glenferrie Rd...muchos gracias.
Been there twice now. Food are very good. Price reasonable
Food was so good, full of flavour. Absolutely loved it.
Owner Paul is the loveliest man and a pleasure to see. He is so warm and Welcoming every time we dine at the restaurant. The food is always amazing!
Great service from the manager, excellent ambience and atmosphere with simply delicious Spanish cuisine. Estrella Damn on tap too
Took two friends there. It was our first time. Love the seafood paella. Super friendly staff. Will definitely come back. Highly recommend.
Great food, great company, great atmosphere. Highly recommend a local neighborhood high end tapas favourite #melbournefoodcollective #melbournelife #melbournefoodreviews @melbourne.food.reviews
The food was ok, prawns were overcooked in the paella and with the jambon but the service was simply terrible. First, we had to wait so long for the menus. We had a 7pm sitting till 8.30 as per the email confirmation. We didn t receive our first set of tapas till 8pm. The next tapas came out at 9pm. And main was served at 9.20pm. After waiting 1.5hrs after we ordered - the waiter says the chef only then started making our paella!! Ridiculous! We lost our appetite and honestly didn t even feel like eating after we sat hungry for most of the night. The waiters were not even apologetic to the delays. Never going there again!!
We came last night at 7:15 and were waiting 2 hours with no food. Only after inquiring to 2 seperate waiters about our food (as the first one didn t even follow it up) we received a plate of olives. The rest of the food took another hour to come. We had completely lost our appetite by nearly 10 o clock when the rest of the food came. The waiters were completely unapologetic and did not communicate anything about the whereabouts of our food and seemed to avoid us, after our multiple attempts to chase it down. We have come before many times but won t be returning as we are so unbelievably disappointed with the service.
What an amazing dining experience, from impeccable service to delicious well cooked Tapas and meals. My daughter has been going here for a while and wanted to have her birthday dinner here. To say her mother and I were impressed is an absolute understatement, what a meal and what exceptional service and hospitality, definitely worth more than 5 stars
0 stars really Absolutely terrible service! Arrived and waited 30 minutes just to receive menus. After another 30 minutes of no attention, I had to ask a waitress to take our order, who never returned. Finally asked the manager, but even then, waited and waited for over 1.5 hours with no food. Turns out, the manager forgot to put the order in. We were told the food would arrive in 5 minutes but ended up waiting 2 hours and decided to leave without being served any real food. We weren t charged for a few small tapas dishes but were still made to pay for a bottle of wine despite the awful experience. The place was busy, but others who arrived after us received their food with no problem. No one came to check on us, top up water, or offer any form of basic service. I will not be back and cannot recommend this place to anyone.
Disappointing night, booked for 6:45 dinner given 2hour sitting asked if we wanted water this did not appear for 15 mins, ordered Wine, waiter not sure if they have it disappeared for 15minutes before arriving with the wine, after 45 mins we had to ask for a menu and immediately asked if we were ready to order prior reading the menu ,20mins tried to get attention of a waiter to order this was ignored finally got Paul owner/manger if we could place order, took the order but was not placed. Left 8:50 with 3out of 5 ordinary dishes presented, nothing to rave about . Free meal but charged for the wine. Poor management and no interest in saving face. One Star is too many
Extremely disappointing night. After waiting over 45 min and several attempts to get order taken spoke to manager who took order then did not place order. Waited another 30 min till this was realised ( when I again approached manager) Very apologetic said the meal would be free and would be on table in 5 min- another 20 min 2 of 5 tapas dishes orders arrived, then just under the 2 hour mark a third plate was brought. Staff consistently unresponsive to requests- no attention Finally left after 2 1/4 hours with 2 dishes undelivered and manager demanded payment for bottle of wine. Clearly poor management and apparent lack of genuine remorse for total lack of service , and apparent lack of ability or interest in rectifying a problem brought to his notice.
I should have paid more attention to the Google reviews about the restaurants poor time management before coming here, as they were spot on. It felt like the staff were disorganized and didn t manage tables properly, which allowed us to slip into the forgotten stage. We waited two hours for our food with no updates or communication. This experience was incredibly frustrating, and I won t be returning
Came here for dinner with my partner for our anniversary and wow, service was incredible the lovely manager Paul looked after us and ensured we were well fed and looked after! The food was beautiful and full of flavour and was the perfect amount. Can t wait to come back again soon!
I have been coming to Remys for a number of years and it never disappoints. Always my go to for that special moment!!!
Service and attention was spectacular. Highly recommend ..a must for all pedantic dinners. Parking: Easy to find ...nor a problem
Best Spanish restaurant in Melbourne! Everytime I can, I would always go back especially when Paul is around, such a great service!
Love this place - always taking my family and friends here for the food and the experience. Thanks Remy for your hospitality. Food
the best Spanish in Melbourne, owner super friendly, went way and beyond to make us feel special, croquettes, the best I ve ever had, prawns to die for .a must visit when in Malvern, 11/10
A Hidden Gem of Spanish Cuisine. Remy has quickly become my favourite local spot. My first visit was with two friends, and we were absolutely captivated by the experience. Trusting our server to curate our meal was the best decision we were treated to a delightful array of dishes, each one flawless. The service was impeccable; our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and ensured we were well taken care of throughout the evening. The experience was so exceptional that I returned with my partner just two weeks later. I requested a particular dish from my first visit, only to discover it was a special that was no longer on the menu. However, our server, recognising us from our previous visit, made it happen once again. This level of personalised service and attention to detail truly sets Remy apart. The staff consistently go above and beyond, and every dish is bursting with vibrant, authentic flavors. A huge thank you to the team at Remy for making each visit memorable. This place is a true gem!
Fantastic. Best Spanish place Ive been to in Australia. Reminded me of Spain. Especially their tapas. Planning on coming back.
Disappointing food, service and over priced. Jamon croquettes sole flavour was garlic Valencia paella was burnt with crunchy pippies and tough chicken (did not eat) Lamb backstrap meal promoted served with asparagus- two shrivelled skinny spears Service was slow and clearly not sufficient service staff for number of patrons. Was anniversary dinner and intended to be a special night. Unfortunately fell short. Given prices charged needs to do better,
Our server, who also happens to be the owner (talk about a multitasker!), made us feel like VIPs from the get-go. When he offered to feed us, we knew we were in for a treat, so we tossed the menus aside and put our trust in his capable hands. And wow, did he deliver! The food? Pure culinary magic. But its Pauls charm and genuine hospitality that take the cake. This guy doesnt just run a restaurant; he pours his heart and soul into every bite, every experience. My husband and I have claimed this gem as our go-to spot for our anniversary each February, and Paul even remembered our exact table from months ago. Who does that? I tell everyone about this place. It never disappoints. Not once. Thanks, Paul, and hats off to the chef! Cant wait to be back!
Lovely spot for a date night, we got the jamon & chorizo potatoes, calamari , chicken paella and their special mussels.
This was by far the best meal I have eating in recent memory. The food was amazing, the service team was incredibly helpful and so was the team in the kitchen. It felt as if I was eating a home cooked meal. The vibe of the restaurant is unmatched. We will definitely be returning as soon as possible
Last night we ventured out to this cosy restaurant. The feeling and vibe just walking in, I know we d be in for a treat. The manager Paul assisted us with choosing our tapas, wow oh wow sooooooooo tasty and delicious!! The garlic prawns were mouthwatering wanted more, everything we tried we loved. Desserts were delicious as well, fantastic night wining and dining with staff being very attentive. Highly recommend this place Gracias : )
Absolutely exceptional dining experience at Remy Tapas! From the moment we walked in. The tapas selection was both diverse and delicious each dish bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the food they served. The attention to detail in every aspect, from the carefully crafted cocktails to the perfectly cooked dishes, made for an unforgettable meal. Highly recommend Remy Tapas for anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience!
Remy exceeded my expectations! The atmosphere and service were superb, but the real star was the food - gambas and pinxtos were my favorites. Definitely worth repeat visits.
A beautiful atmosphere on arrival. My first thought was, this would be a great venue for a private party or function. The food was wonderful and there was plenty of it! My favourite dish, Calamari, was deliciously tender. The service was excellent and the staff very friendly & obliging - no request of them was too hard.
The dining experience was enjoyable, from the delicious food to the welcoming ambiance and staff. I opted for the Paella and it exceeded my expectations, just like it did for my friends. I look forward to returning to sample more items from the menu on my next visit.
Amazing Food & Atmosphere, had the feed me menu & vegetarian. Booked in again next week. Staff were fantastic. Thank You guys.
Celebrated my mothers birthday tonight had the feed me menu that the manager suggested and it was amazing. I can not believe I have not been here but will be back with more friends very soon cocktails and wines were amazing thank you for the great night paul.
Updated review: Upon leaving, the manager insincerely apologised for our experience and proceeded to say that we were rude to wait staff and that other tables complained about us. This was a complete and utter fabrication - we then proceeded to (nicely) ask the people seated around us, who denied having any issues with our presence, and even added that they were still waiting for their meals. We even offered to pay for their meals if we had impacted them in any way. The issue is not the money, or the sub par food. It s the service, the smugness and the complete lack of accountability . The manager Paul needs to learn how to provide authentic customer service without blaming the customer. - Ordered the $75 feed me menu at 7:30 By 9:30 all we had had was 4 courses spread out of either over cooked protein or extremely fatty lamb. We voiced our concerns over the delays of the courses and quality of the food and were told that because one of the diners requested no seafood that it affected the order of the meals coming out. Bottom line, if you cannot accomodate the request and still keep the meals coming - don t willingly agree to provide the service . Service levels have been questionable. Unfortunately this is not a dining experience I wish to repeat.
What an awesome little gem. The food was amazing, the staff were so helpful and happy. My partner and I will be coming back - thank you Remy, you made our night
We came for dinner last night and left so happy with our experience. We had about 6 tapas and my favorite was Gambas Aljillo but all plates were so tasting. Highly recommend Remy
amazing food. had the best experience here and enjoyed every second. will be back!!
Beautiful place. Great food full of flavour, great service and reasonably priced. First time there and will be back.
Great service and great food
The best tapas in Melbourne!
Had a great time at Remy. The food was full of flavors and tasty. Service was great, we were sitting outside and everyone kept checking on us to make sure we got everything. Will definitely come back!
Fantastic authentic food which is fresh and with a great depth of flavour. Nice atmosphere and helpful staff.
The food here is incredible! The main courses are wonderful. Lots of delicious tapas to choose from, and fancy drinks that compliment any dish you order. The atmosphere is perfect. The service was amazing. They offered so many great suggestions for food, and drinks. They really understood the menu. The hospitality was kind, which was appreciated. We will definitely be back.
This is my fav restaurant for Spanish Tapas. The food is delicious and doesn t disappoint. I especially loved their wagyu beef with chimichurri sauce that was on their special. Service is great and the staff is so friendly.
Nice restaurant & ambience but rather average tapas & food
Paella was delicious. Very nice wine. Great atmosphere
An absolute delight, wonderful food and attentive service. Thank you for having us!
The wonderful host Paul always makes us feel welcome. The food is amazing and it s always our family favourite!
My family and I have been to Remy a number of times and the food has been consistently really good. I have been to Spain a number of times and the restaurant does a good job of capturing the feel of a bustling Spanish restaurant, with lots of Spanish favourites on the menu. We tend to visit Remy for special occasions and the service has never disappointed - very friendly and helpful. My family and I ate the night before at a high-end Latin American restaurant in the CBD and found the food better and the atmosphere more enjoyable at Remy. Fortunately, I am not alone in my appreciation for the restaurant - it was packed last night (a Saturday), with hardly a table to spare. They deserve the recognition. We havent had any bad dishes there, but loved the beef cheek special, the Paella (the large size seemed to disappear quickly with four of us) and the various tapas that we ordered.
The food at Remy s was excellent, with every dish we tried being enjoyable. However, the dining experience was the worst Ive had. From the beginning, service was slow and disorganised. We faced long waits to be seated (with a booking), have our orders taken, and receive our food. Despite multiple inquiries, our dishes arrived erratically, and some didn t arrive at all within the 3 hours we spent here. At this point we gave up. When we went to pay there were several mistakes on the bill, even after we pointed them out. Just paying the bill was another difficult experience. It s such a shame the food was let down by lacklustre service.
It is a brilliant place for food, service, and atmosphere to celebrate an occasion. It is on the expensive side so good for a very special occasion. Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian options
Please think twice before dining at this restaurant if you have allergies. After stating four times that two people in our party had severe nut allergies and requested no nuts in any of our food. Our dinner was cut short as two people had an allergic reaction to a sauce that was served to us, only to find out it contained cashew nuts. The manager said it was recorded on the docket, but it was still served. The manager took no responsibility and I ask what about your duty of care and all he said was it was written on the docket. I could not recommend this restaurant to anyone with allergies as no care was taken.
5 stars all round 1st time at Remy and I was so impressed with the quality, the taste and the presentation of every tapas dish we tried and the Valencia Paella was the best Ive ever had! Beautifully presented restaurant with such a warm atmosphere and friendly staff. I will definitely be back to try more dishes.
Nice tapas and pinchos. Love the Estrella beer on tap. Good wine selection too. Only let down was the seafood paella. Not much seafood in it and there was no crust at the bottom of the pan like traditional paellas. Not worth it for the price you pay. Been here twice that was enough for me.
Brilliant food- amazing tapas & seafood paella
Amazing ambient, amazing food, excellent service, had a great time with friends, well be back very soon.
I really loved the special foods and drinks, the service was good and the ambiance was sizzling, have booked to return with more friends!
Went for a casual dinner, was very satisfied with the food, service and the atmosphere. Staff were friendly and professional . Amazing services would recommend my friends and would love to be back . Food
On April 18th, 5 other ladies & I (a total of 5) attended the restaurant for an evening booking. Upon arrival, we informed the manager that we were only five, although the original booking was for six, & there were no issues with this. We sat down, were given the drinks menu while we waited for everyone to arrive. I was asked if I wanted water, which I did, but it never came. Noticing that the restaurant was filling up quickly & the waitresses were busy, we remained patient throughout the night. The manager checked if we needed the sixth seat, & we confirmed again that we were only five. They removed the plates, glassware & cutlery on this spot. We requested the food menus & began deciding between the two banquet options: one for $68 & another for $75. When we asked the waitress about the difference, she mentioned that the larger banquet offered more food. I specifically asked if dessert was included in the larger banquet, & she said yes. We then ordered five banquets. The food started arriving very slowly, but we were not in a rush, so this was not an immediate concern. However, the first few dishes were all vegetarian (e.g., pumpkin dish, potato dish), which raised some concerns about value for money. Eventually, the meat dishes started arriving, & we were satisfied. Each dish was split into two plates, so we received two servings of each item. When a meatball & bread dish arrived on a single plate, we politely inquired if we were supposed to get another serving. After calling over a second waitress & then the male manager, we were abruptly asked, So you want more bread? Our main concern was not just the shortage of bread, given we were 1 short (only given 4), but also whether another meatball dish would be coming, as we had been receiving two servings of each dish up to that point. Another dish was brought out with approximately ten pieces of bread, which felt like a negative response back to our question; we just wanted a fair split for the banquet food. The remaining food arrived, & everything was tasty. After the last dish, we were asked if we wanted dessert. When I asked what desserts were included in the banquet, the waitress didn t understand, I tried paraphrasing using words such as set menu, $75 package, so she brought another waitress over. We were then told that no dessert was included, which was disappointing as we had been told otherwise initially. We raised this but no soluton. Despite the disappointment, we didn t make a fuss, or raise it again. One of my friends paid the full bill of $554 with her card. Afterward, she felt that she had overpaid. Using my iPhone calculator, I added up the costs: $75 for each of the five banquets totaled $375, plus $78 for drinks, totaling $453. She had paid $554, which was $101 more. We went to the counter to explain this to the male manager. His first comment was, Oh, but you booked for six people. I explained that although the original booking was for six, we had confirmed from the start that we were only 5. He claimed that he charged us for an extra banquet to cover the sixth person, which didn t explain the $101 difference since the banquet cost was $75. He seemed perplexed & did not offer an explanation or apology. I explained to him from the first minute I walked into the restaurant, to the confirmation of 5 people when he came to visit our table, we knew there was only 5. His response was, oh but you got more food. We stood there in awkward silence for a bit. After adding up each drink with my iPhone calculator with the manager, to what felt like I had to provide the overpayment, he didnt bother adding anything up or reviewing. I asked for a refund of the $101 so we could leave. He refunded the amount on my friends card, & we left. It was the strangest dining experience we ve had, with an overcharge & no explanation. We visited the restaurant as a culturally diverse group with over 40 years of combined experience in hospitality & had never experienced such poor service & an overcharge in Melbourne before. On a positive note, I rate the food 5 stars!
Paul and his team at Remy Tapas welcome all their guests like family. The menu offers an authentic Spanish experience. There is a great range of cocktails and always something surprising to try with the daily specials. Some of my favourite tapas include the jamon croquetas and the garlic gambas. The perfect venue for date night or a intimate celebration with friends.
Excellent value, service and food These guys manage to create a small restaurant feel although they can handle big bookings Food
Food tasted great but unfortunately service was not. Food was ordered at 7pm, last dish for my order was not on the table till 8.45pm. When we enquired, they said it was coming. Still nothing. Till 8.45. Ambience was extremely busy and packed where you couldnt really talk with the people you were sitting with. Staff didnt seem to happy to be there. From a true Spaniard, this didnt represent the culture of Spain. Pros: - Food - Music (Guitar) Cons: - Packed - Loud - Service - Timely Food
Wonderful food and atmosphere . The live music on a Saturday evening was a plus . We really enjoyed our evening at Remy .
A great local eatery in Malvern. Food always excellent with a some fantastic daily specials, and the staff are wonderful.
Thank you Paul for a great service the food was amazing, thank you from Jose. Your now on Facebook
Great food, well priced. Would go again Food
Always great to get a Remys hit of Spanish. The tapas is always yummy.
Paul is a hard working friendly owner who has a passion for food and a good atmosphere, a good experience, will definitely be back here! Paul is a friendly and hardworking owner who is passionate about food and good atmosphere, good experience, will definitely return here!
Paul and the team went above and beyond to make our evening fantastic! The food was delicious! Can t wait to come back for more delicious food, and an amazing atmosphere.
This is a great Tapas place. The staff were attentive and made the whole experience fun. Quality food and a good wine selection. The only thing I would suggest, would be to apply some fabric around the ceiling and walls to deaden the sound, as it was very loud in the room. Made it difficult to have a conversation. But we still had a great time. Well be back.
Out of 6 tapas, we had only 1 pleasant dish. We approached the manager to let him know and he said he ate the same dish the night before and that it was yummy. Poor manager and service and we were charged $162.00 for all the food we didnt eat. Our advice dont choose to eat here.
Delicious Tapas and Paellas from the kitchen. Our only gripe was the slow (but friendly) service from staff. I felt they needed at least one more server on the day.
Love this place. Got a good vibe, the service was lovely and food really delicious. Thanks for having us
The calamari melts in your mouth...
A must eat venue, the staff, the food, absolutely brilliant. Just save me a table.
Great portion in the tapas selection. Main size was well served.
Really delicious food and great vibes. The artichokes, shrimp, empanadas and paella were all delicious.
An incredible dinner from the food to the service, One of the best meals we have had . Vegetarian options: Great selection
Great food and live entertainment. The service could have been better, but could just be a busy Friday night.
Excellent Spanish dishes. The waiters were very friendly and checked up on our table regularly. We sat outside of the restaurant and very much enjoyed our spot whilst listening to spanish music which was playing in the background. There was also a musician on Sat night.
Quaint restaurant with friendly staff. Food is outstanding & they have Estella on tap too! Highly recommended. Food
Amazing in every way. The food was superb. The service outstanding. The menu was just what we needed. We will be back as soon as possible.
Enjoyed the experience on Saturday. Tahlia looked after us well, George was great at the bar, Paul, his Chefs, great team. The frozen Pisco Sour rated right up there! The tapas, pinxchtos and paella were delish! Looking forward to Flamenco Night Vegetarian options: Great options Parking: On Glenferrie Road and inside lanes Kid-friendliness: Welcomed
Best mussels and payella
Great tapas, paella underwhelmed
So i visited this restaurant last week, I ordered tapas and a steak .. Requested at medium rare. It came.. well done .. I kindly politely returned the steak in full and ordered 2 additional plates .. Upon settling the bill, The steak was still charged. There was really no reason to argue with them. Enough said?
Went for valentines last night and it was amazing. Had a few different tapas and want to go back to try them all! Great atmosphere and staff were all so lovely
I ll try to keep my personal dining experience on Saturday night at Remy Tapas y vino very short. We were very shocked and disappointed in the quality of the food, in particular, the paella was definitely not authentic and it was dry and possibly microwaved, the chicken in the paella was cut into tiny cubes as was the chorizo. I would expect much more in terms of the quality that was coming out of the kitchen. To me they have disrespected the true essence of Spanish cuisine. For the price you will pay, one should expect far better. The dessert seemed to also be microwaved and very soggy as it was no where near a what a type of strudel based dessert should be. Will I be going back, as the old say goes, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. What astonished me was how busy the place was, I sometimes wonder what type of palates people have. Definitely won t be going back.
Absolutely brilliant- beyond measure. Paul and the staff are unmatched in their food and service. An incredible, authentic Melbourne institution that is unbeatable. The passion comes out through the quality of their food, drinks and passion. Every dish is a delight and youll not find a better vibe. Thank you for having us!
This was hands down the best south american/latino restaurant Ive been to in Melbourne. Firstly your hit by the loving and vibrant atmosphere, the staff are so warm and friendly. We had several Tapas dishes, the garlic prawns and scallops were amazing, melted in your mouth. The paella was divine, the ribs were cooked to perfection, the pisco sour cannot describe you have to try yourself! To be honest the main ingredient is Paul the host and owner of Remy he is amazing, he spends time with his guests and really adds to the atmosphere and ambience of Remy, such a beautiful soul. Cant recommend this place enough.
Bit noisy at peak times but food and cocktails are superb.
We ordered a bottle of wine $60 for the table which was brought to us by the manager/owner. We realized we ended up with a bottle we didn t order (might mention here what we got wasnt on the wine list so couldn t see if it matched what we originally ordered ) we motioned to the owner who took forever to attend our table as he was very busy chatting with the couple on the next table. We were told some ridiculous story the supplier puts some one off bottles in the crates & somehow we ended up with one of those even though we later saw the same brand was sitting in their wine stocks (but still not featured on the wine list) never offered an apology & that he would get us the wine we ordered, just told us it would be same quality (funnily we googled the wine it was on special for $16 a bottle) Felt very duped never need to go back
Great atmosphere, live band, felt like a place in Spain..great food and cocktails Vegetarian options: Separate vegetarian tapas menu
This is the ONLY place to eat calamari. It is TOTALLY... THE BEST melts in your mouth
Excellent food and service.
Great food Good service Restaurant atmosphere is cool and beautiful
Remys - always fantastic. Food delicious. Atmosphere warm and welcoming. Try the sangria.
A hidden gem that dishes out delicious and authentic spanish cuisine. For all the times we ve dined, we ve enjoyed the atmosphere and services.
Amazing food not one dish was a disappointment and the staff are super friendly a must try
Lovely little place with pretty good food and lovely service
The Best Spanish Tapas in Melbourne! The staff are always so helpful and attentive. The food is unbelievably good! This will always be my go to place.
Ate here for the first time last night and it was Simply delicious tapas with fantastic service from Paul and the team. Reasonable prices for the high quality. Great date night destination!
I like the food and environment here! So relaxed and enjoyable. Highly recommend!
Vegetarian options: Great variety of vegetarian tapas.delicious.
Let me tell you .. We have been to Remy s, today we brought our close friends to experience these delicious taps, cocktails and yummy food. The staff was very nice and polite, Carol our waitress was very friendly and attentive. I had plenty to choose from the extensive variety of gluten free options, thank you to Remys!!!!
Great tapas and service.
For a pre-booked group birthday celebration on Saturday night,we agreed to the $60 per head set menu. After being assured that vegetarian dishes were included, we waited well over an hour for any food to appear. We were stunned when the tapas stopped after four dishes, two of which were meat and two seafood. Everyone was still hungry so we had to order extra paella and a couple of vegetarian options off the menu. The worst was yet to come when the bill arrived, listing numerous items no one had ordered. We spent half an hour with the manager assuring him we hadnt had scotch fillet etc and he insisted that the kitchen said theyd sent the food out, but it certainly didnt come to our table. Eventually the $400 we were overcharged was knocked off the bill. The friendly waiting staff were run off their feet and there seemed to be utter chaos as evidenced by our experience. Its great to see a restaurant thriving but this is the worst experience Ive had and it seems like they cant cope with the crowd of diners they pack in. I feel really embarassed that I organised this restaurant for my friends milestone birthdays and it was just disappointing and ultimately stressful.
The food is amazing. The staff are happy and relaxed. Enjoy the feed me menu but make sure you leave room for the paella at the end. Excellent.
Not the best Spanish food in Melbourne but tasty and generous serves. Wonderful service and a cosy atmosphere. Recommended
Celebrated a milestone birthday here with 30+ guests and all had a fantastic night. The food / drinks were delicious and generous, service on point and vibe made it a night to remember. Paul and wait staff couldn t do enough to ensure everyone was looked after and having a good time. Highly recommend this venue for a small or big event. Thank you Paul and Remy! We ll be back soon!
Everything was great but the banquet was a little light on
The service was poor. Didnt get asked for a drink for about 10-15mins after seated. Had to again call someone over to place an order for food as we were ignored. The tapas were quite good but the paella was average. We then waited over 5mins at the front counter just to pay our bill. We still werent achnoledged so i had to ask one of the waitresses if they wanted any money. Poorly managed.
Food was fine but extremely slow/bad service. Only a 2 people table, we ve waited 15 mins between each tapas, another 15 mins for a drink, another 15 mins for someone to bring us a food menu so we can actually order food. We won t be back for sure.
Ok food, they still ask for tips even with those prices
Forgot my entire meal 10:25pm and not a single bit of food for me yet Gave us a salad already partly eaten by another patron (we saw the whole thing!) no offer of discount and bad attitude from older man (owner?).
The food was excellent , and the service was wonderful . The servers were attentive and friendly except for the manager? ( the only guy not in uniform ) . My brother was having problems using the Apple Pay to pay the bill and he just walked off without bothering to help him or saying anything - I just felt there was an element of racism there . Everyone else was beautiful :)
Great food and atmosphere-the best advice is to not order mains, but share plates, constantly coming out! Very Authentic Spanish Tapas
Unbelievable!!! Amazing amazing amazing!!! Highly recommended ! Definitely be back
I dont know what went wrong tonight. The service was almost non existent. The food was average. The mussels were bland.sause was watery Waited over an hour for our mains and were cold in the end. Has the place changed owners . We stood there for ten minutes guy at the front desk was on his phone didnt acknowledge us and then couldnt find booking. I could hear other patrons complaing and saw food plates go back to the kitchen. Utterly disappointed
Pretty underwhelmed. Got the feed me menu but felt like it was mostly made up of bread. Service was also lacking and staff did not seem engaged at all with the customers not how I remembered it
Good food and even better service. Let the owner feed you, and allow the kitchen to just show off. His range of jamon dishes is enviable. Good for family dining or something a bit more intimate.
Got the feed me selection at $75 per head, food was minimal to say the least, fish was off and the rest of the food was bland. Definitely do not recommend! Oh and they seated us next to the toilet door, that table should not be there at all as every few seconds the door opened up. Total bill was $435 for 4 not worth it. Lesson learnt and dont understand why this place is busy.
Disappointing food - paella was absolutely horrible! To top it off we were charged for a dessert that was not available and when we asked to have it removed from the bill were presented a bill with a significantly higher amount! A very unpleasant end to an evening and we are definitely not going back !
Love this place, huge range of tapas and great service.
Great food, great service, great vibe. Highly recommend. Food
Nice and delicious!
We go here a lot food is amazing as is the staff
Had a nice meal once here, but I ordered two paellas, one large and one small. They came out the same size despite costing at least 30 dollars in difference. But worse of all, the place was busy and clearly, the paella was frozen and more of a risotto consistency, no soccarat.
Made a booking for anniversary lunch. Confirmed Booking. Turned up and the restaurant was closed. No notification regarding cancellation of booking.
Fantastic, friendly service and the food is to die for..
Every time I come to Melbourne, I come to Remy. The service has always been excellent and the food is always delicious. One thing I love about Remy is they are always changing the menu and so Im always getting different tapas. I cant wait for my next trip to Melbourne.
What can I say about Remy Bar...? Everything and anything. It was absolutely delicious. I can see why it was completely booked out when I visited. The team were all so friendly and welcoming even though it was super busy. Ive definitely found my new go-to Tapas Bar.
Made a booking for 8:30pm on Valentines Day and it was clear management had allowed the restaurant to be overbooked even though they were understaffed. We waited 25min to be seated despite our booking and then waited 10min before we were given water or menus. After trying to hail a server for a further 20min to order drinks we decided to leave as we clearly weren t going to be served any time soon. Really unfortunate way to end our night and it was clear management prioritised cramming in as many people as possible over acceptable service.
Fabulous venue great food beautiful ambience love everything about Remy Tapas
We went there for our valentine day. That was a real mess. First we Had Book weeks ago and had to line up when we arrive for 15 minutes passed our booking time. After two hours sitting we still didn t get the main dish. Food ( from our entry dish) was all right but nothing special. The service was one of the worst indeed. Only student working there. The owner is obviously thinking of making as much money as he can with spending as little as possible on staff and service. After two hours waiting we decided to leave without eating our main dish and dessert. Not nice at all.
Generally good food and very attentive and friendly staff. Great cocktails . Difficult to find parking. Would recommend to anyone for a casual gathering and for a few nice cocktails.
Horrible experience! Despite having a booking they had us waiting for 25 mins to be seated. Once seated, no body came to take our drinks order for another 20 minutes, by this point we havent even been given the food menu to look at. About 1 hour and 20 mins into the whole experience, we still had not received our drinks NOR had our food order taken. Shocking customer service, we just got up and left, as did many other people who were at the restaurant. It is clear that the manager only cared about filling up the place to full capacity for $$ and neglected service. Would not recommend to anyone!
Good service, ambiance and most importantly beautiful, yummy and delicious food. Will be back :)
First time there and I just loved it. Theres a great selection of delicious food and wine to choose from and the ambience is warm and inviting. And when the musicians started it just completed the whole enjoyable experience. Will definitely be back!
Experience sadly ruined by a lying and time wasting older man, presumably the owner / manager. Was it busy? Yes. Did we have a booking? No We asked if there was a table available and we were told if we waited (they had a barrel you could sit at outside) the next available would be ours. Firstly, after about 15 minutes the table was nearly available - great Secondly, they are just leaving, maybe 10-15 later Thirdly, we are just clearing the table and finally its just being setup this being 90 minutes later. Then, nothing. Not table, no offer to serve food and the older man avoids all contact with our table and sends one of his young girls out to deal with his lies. Her response was even worse. No apology, simply do you see how busy we are? Disgraceful. Time wasting clearly to continue stringing us on to have drinks.. Reading the below comments this is a common occurance, even with those who have booked. Dont spend your cash at this disgraceful venue, pop across the road to the Turkish joint - Nicosia. They treated us amazingly!
Best experience and great service and divine food
Lovely food
Such a fantastic vibe, plus the authentic Spanish food. For me I love sharing plates which this has many of as I like to try everything. Oh and you must try a Pisco sour for a cocktail
San Sebastian you have competition; well done! Great food, wine and service. Thank you for a lovely evening.
My husband and I have been wanting to visit Remy for some time now. We are locals and walk past it regularly. It s got a wonderful atmosphere and has quite good Google reviews so we thought we would give it a try last night. Whilst the customer service we received was wonderful, the food itself was quite average (including the cocktails we ordered). I was quite disappointed with the food. For us, it tasted very bland and lacked flavour. I ve given this review two stars purely for the wonderful waitress we had last night. I most likely won t be back.
Amazing little tapas bar made even better by the incredibly friendly and welcoming staff
Terrific food, atmosphere and service. Highly recommended.
Food was good. Drinks were good. Staff was exceptional. Very prompt and helpful. Helped make a special family occasion, very special. Thank you.
Wow! Beautiful food and a great experience. We LOVED it. We ate at Remy tonight to celebrate my wifes birthday. We read some of the reviews and to be honest we nearly didnt book because of them. So glad we didnt take the advice of some people who clearly have forgotten this industry is still recovering from a horrible period with lockdowns etc. When you dine out, please remember the people in this industry have suffered greatly. Many of the great people who were staff pre covid have not returned so many places are trying to make it all work with out staff. A few months of trading does not mean these businesses have been able to catch up. Lets support these restaurants and if you have to wait a little longer than usual then try and keep it all in perspective. Ultimately...if you cant say something nice then just dont post......they dont need to be kicked again. Thanks Remy for a great night. We appreciate the service, great food and the beautiful surroundings. Keep up the great work. You have a great restaurant you can be very proud of. We will be back!
Always great. Been here multiple times. Great service, great food. Staff are really nice. Would recommend.
Very nice place and good food!
Dining in: Authentic, Honest and vibrant. Every time I bring the family here we are met with joy and great food. Fridays and saturdays boast a Spanish guitarist. Great selection of Spanish beers and reds. Takeaway: Paul and the team are amazing. Whenever we have family events we get catering of huuuuge Spanish paella delivered to us (we live in Malvern and they feed approx 20 people). Paul drives it himself. Goes the extra mile to make it fit with his busy timetable. The food is always exceptional. A easy and great option for catering. Recently had a bunch of doctors over for an outdoor event. Everyone is raving about how amazing the paella was! Talk of the department. Inamul
Great ambiance, delightful (& helpful) staff, terrific food. Definitely be back. Highly recommend.
Paul and the team at Remy are absolutely amazing! I have been dining at Remy for around 7 years and every time I eat here, the food, ambience and service brings me back. Paul is personable, extremely hospitable and we have gained a lovely friendship over the years. My husband and I love Remy so much that we decided to have our wedding celebration at the restaurant. Paul was attentive to our needs and he created the perfect setting. The head chef and the team delivered an incredible menu - everyone LOVED the food!!! We can t wait to visit Paul and the team at Remy after our honeymoon for another great feed - we are craving the food! Thanks for everything Paul!
Underwhelming food and shocking service. Remys is past its heyday. Rocking up for a meal with friends we had no booking but were sat quickly despite it being busy. The food was bland - the winners were a tasteless paella and tough churros with a chocolate sauce so runny it never held onto the doughnuts. The biggest kick though, was the service. Multiple requests for menus, water and even (yes, even) the bill went unanswered. In between, 3-4 wait staff seemed hellbent on looking busy but altogether doing nothing. Case in point was the continued insistence to remove plates with food on them but leave empty dishes or an empty water bottle on the table. The only unprompted request from staff was for a tip at the end of the night. Perhaps if management spent less time shmoozing up front and more time running the place things would improve but I doubt it - Sadly Remys epitomises the decline of Glenferrie road for solid dinner options. All good things must come to an end I suppose.
Visited Remy Bar de Tapas Saturday evening, with the family. Enjoyed the amazing tastes of Calamari, Scallops, Zuccini & Cauliflower fritters, Seafood paella, meatballs & amazing deserts- (churros & pavlova). Lots of choices on the menu for GF Great staff recommended wonderful Red wine & Rose, which complimented the tastes amazingly! Will be making this a regular visit after a break due to illness! Congratulations to Paul & Staff for a great atmosphere, menu choices & overall great service & value for money. Carol & Frank
Another fabulous meal, service and vibe at Remy. Thanks to the totally amazing chefs and staff. Loved the chilli margarita too!
I love this place. My meal were always cooked perfect. Staff are all super friendly and professional. We always try different dish every visit
Great food and service
great food and great service.
Second time here and will be back. Food was exceptional and our waitress was brilliant. Honestly couldnt fault our experience. Thank you!
A little on the pricey side for what it is although the food and drinks are to die for especially the pina colada
I took my partner to Remy Bar dr Tapas y Vino last night to celebrate a special occasion. It has a lovely atmosphere with mouthwatering food and the waiter was incredibly friendly and funny. He made some great food recommendations and helped us order the right amount. The only comment my partner and I made is that a lot of the food tasted quite sweet, but I cant take points off for that. Make sure you keep space for the delicious desserts too. Well be back soon!
Always a delicious dining experience . & the service is impeccable
Amazing service, quality of food but most important how professional their staff are. I will be coming back many more times.
Grat tasting food not cheep gets very busy so service can be slow
A lively place serving an excellent range of tapas and sharing plates. The staff are professional, polite and accommodating.
Never go to remys on glen ferry road took 45 minutes for salad and lamb shanks and they weren t even busy and a guy kept in giving us plates HORRIBLE service
Great food, service and atmosphere. Ill definitely be back next time Im in Melbourne.
Did was great... thankyou
Kind of Hit and Miss. Some of the food we had was lovely while others were either bland or undercooked. The Staff while friendly and helpful were clearly understaffed and struggling to keep up.
My Wife and I went to Remy a few weeks ago and the service was shocking. Firstly, they took ages to seat us even though we had a reservation and the restaurant was basically empty as we were one of the first customers of the evening. This was a recurring theme throughout the night, slow to take our orders etc. Secondly, when we got to our table, we advised the waiter the table was unsteady and they moved us to an adjacent table (we would have been happy with some folded paper under the foot to steady it). The restaurant manager obviously wasnt aware of this and got very angry with us, like it was our fault?! Communicate with your staff mate!!! He then proceeded to stare at my Wife and started to tell other patrons that we had moved of our own accord like it was our fault they couldnt manage the space in their own restaurant. Newsflash buddy, a table built for 2, no matter where you put it in your restaurant is never going to be big enough for 3 adults. Lastly, the food was okay but not for the price you are paying. Do yourself a favour and spend the extra 10-15 minutes to head to Chapel St or the CBD to get better food and better service. I would give this place negative stars if I could after that experience.
Thankyou so much Remy Staff .we had the most beautiful time here for my sisters birthday .Even though it was later in the evening the children (teenager and almost teen ) were acknowledged by the staff .Service was delightful -food exciting .
Came here for dinner recently with a large group for a friends birthday. The new location is a lot larger and on a Thursday night was absolutely packed. We got a whole lot of different tapas for the table. The artichokes were excellent. Meatballs were good. We got a couple of different prawn dishes that were nice. Service was good. Would def recommend. Really huge menu with lots of great choices.
Delicious traditional Spanish cuisine. Lots of tapas on offer. Full marks to the Chef and his kitchen staff. Great fast friendly service. Beautiful venue. Entrées: Gambas Serrano, grilled prawns wrapped with jamon; Bacalao Croquettas, cod fish croquettes; Lamb Al Palo, grilled lamb backstrap. Main: Valencia Paella, chicken seafood paella together with Parmesan and Rocket Salad. Desserts: Crema Catalana and Pastel de Manzana. Drinks: Sangria Roja Remy and guava drink. A most enjoyable dining experience!
A neighbourhood gem. Great food, vibes and accommodated our birthday celebrations by serving the cake we brought with us.
Great food
Really great service and really great food. The team members know their products well.
Delicious food! Amazing service and friendly atmosphere :)
Amazing food
The food was great as usual. However, it was so busy, probably due to Christmas celebrations, that it was impossible to have a conversation and our meal took ages.
Good ok, but really bad service
Delicious food, great place to eat out!
