9 Church St, Malvern WR14 2AA, United Kingdom
We are a family owned and run tearooms where we take simple ingredients, work with love and care to create tasty wholesome home baked and freshly prepared food for our customers. Located near the top of Church Street in Great Malvern (above Elts shoe shop). Locals, visitors and walkers have been made welcome for over 110 years, making us one of the longest established tearooms in the area. We offer a varied, traditional menu and take pride in being able to cater for all dietary needs from vegetarian or vegan to gluten-free or dairy free diet.
Delicious food and tea, comfortable place to sit. Pleasant staff. Incredibly accommodating to Dairy Allergy. Highly Recommended.
Lovely food in the cafe, and they also do an amazing catering service. Caroline catered for my lunch party of 40 guests... I had so many compliments about the food, including an amazing chocolate fudge cake! I'll definitely use them again for catering.
Quite simply the best afternoon tea we have ever had and we have had lots of! Scones were unreal , warm and fresh . A must if you enjoy afternoon tea and the price is so reasonable. This surpasses London 5 star hotels in my eyes and tummy !
Delicious Bluebird afternoon tea - service was speedy, all-round delicious selection and caters very well to those of us with dietary requirements. They have gluten free, dairy free and vegan menus as well as the usual menu. Really impressive. Reasonably priced too. Parking nearby in car park.
Lovely little gem, really interesting place. Excellent scones with a choice of flavours of scones and jams, and teas. Good value. Service was functional rather than over-the-top friendly.
Good little find, traditional afternoon tea very reasonably priced, great selection of sandwiches and cakes. Dog friendly.
Really lovely service at this sweet tearoom in Malvern. They accommodated seven of us for a cream tea on a Saturday afternoon without much notice. The scones were freshly baked for us and everything was great. It was reasonably priced as well! A big thank you to the team there.
An afternoon High Tea was prepared for my friend without a prior booking and the sandwiches and cakes on the stand were delicious. I had a Cream Tea and the scone was fresh baked and was perfect. It was a lovely surprise to find this wonderful place. The staff were so friendly and helpful if we ever get the chance to go back to Great Malvern we will head straight for this tea room.
Excellent service, great scones
Wonderful. We had a nice stay in this outstanding Tearoom.
A delightful tea room. Plenty of choice regarding traditional tea and cakes, all day breakfast, jacket potatoes etc etc. This tea room also caters for vegans, gluten free et al. Good friendly service.
Steeped in history, Elgar visited often. Food good, atmosphere fab. Polite respectful helpful staff. Food : 5/5
What a find
A lovely place with friendly staff, we had tasty sandwiches followed by an amazing lemon drizzle (one of the best weve tasted) and had a great conversation with local author, Jan condon. Will definitely go back on our next visit to the malverns.
We ordered 5 afternoon teas for pick up for my birthday, there was 4 types of sandwiches, 7 slices of cake, two scones with cream and jam, and tea, coffee, and fruit tea for 10 pounds per person!!!! The cakes and scones were homemade and delicious, the sandwich fillings were cheese, tuna, egg mayo, and ham. My husband is vegetarian so he was given egg mayo, brie and cranberry and a phenomenal coronation chickpea (smelled amazing we were all jealous!!) In a separate box. My son has autism and they wrapped his sandwiches seperate just for him, he was thrilled. Vegetarian options: My vege husband had egg mayo, brie and cranberry and coronation chickpea, (which were hoping to recreate!) In a separate box too. Dietary restrictions: Amazing alternatives for vegetarians and for picky eaters like my son who has autism. Kid-friendliness: They didnt make me feel annoying when I asked for some sandwiches to be separate due to my sons ASD. Really sweet kind people there
Great tearoom. Highly recommended, and one of the best Victoria sponges Ive ever eaten!
Very slow service. Rather tired and outdated, as opposed to characterful ! Nice coffee though, hence the extra star .
Good value breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. Gluten free, dairy free and vegan menus available. Lovely traditional tea shop that caters for everyone.
Ordered scones for cream teas on Mothers Day. Freshly baked Sunday morning and absolutely delicious. Thank you
Lovely place lots of character. Staff are excellent and food is perfect
A quaint tea room upstairs and a little hidden away but lovely fire, service and food was yum. All in all worth looking out for.
A very nice tea room, on the first floor overlooking the main Street. Lots of good home made food, friendly service. Dog friendly, too. Highly recommended.
Enjoyable, good food & atmosphere.
Im a very fussy vegan eater but the food choice was more than ample, the portions were generous, tasted great, and were very reasonably priced. Will definitely lunch here again when we next visit Malvern. Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian, vegan, gluten and dairy free menu.
(American, here.) I often tell people the best thing I ve ever eaten was the scone with currant jam and clotted cream at the Bluebird Tearoom. Not exaggerating. My visit was 5 years ago in Summer of 2018, but better late than never to leave a review.
Victorian tea room with lots of atmosphere and charm. The scones were homemade and with delicious jams
I first came here about 35 years ago, and it has barely changed in that time, and therein lies the problem. In my experience the food is ok, but theres a lot of competition in Malvern, and many of the competitors are much more modern, both in interior and in menu. However, one persons dated is another persons traditional, so it depends what youre looking for. In my case, woodchip wallpaper isnt it, but theres nothing wrong with the food or service.
I just popped in for a cup of tea and a cake. Very impressive menu. I had a delicious flapjack with my tea I will certainly make a return visit and sample more cakes from the menu and also like the sound of the all day breakfast. Service was very good with friendly staff.
A little gem, great selection of teas.
Quaint old style tea room offering a range of food for all tastes, including an excellent all day breakfast as well as a range of lunch options and all day / afternoon tea choices. (Great cake too!)
Shush dont tell anyone! But... The place serves the best scones on the planet.
Quaint
Nice place to eat after a long walk
This is a quaint café and lovely that it is so dog friendly. After being seated, our dogs were immediately offered a bowl of water. Brilliant staff and service, and delicious coffee and cakes.
Seriously the best scones I have EVER tasted! A fabulous start to my wifes birthday weekend. Thank you.
My favourite local cafe, always friendly welcome. Lovely choice of tasty food and drinks. Very accommodating if any food intolerance concerns.
Cosy and quiet, with lovely home cooked food. Delicious! X
Went here for lunch. Really beautiful little tearooms. Food was fantastic and staff were lovely and friendly. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options. Would really recommend for a nice bite to eat on an afternoon. Dragons Breath tea was awesome.
My wife and I visited here today. The breakfast was the best in Malvern for us, and we live here. Do visit. Its quaint, great food and kind service.
Really enjoyed the banana and pecan loaf. Charming little tearoom and friendly service.
lovely little cafe friendly staff food was excellent cakes where excellent and very tasty would definitely go again when in the area
Love this place have done since the first time I went there 10yrs ago as part of my first date with my husband
Great atmosphere and lots of food with a large variety they have vegan and gluten-free and dairy free menus if you need that and great panini s
Excellent cream tea with a very good choice of scones. Very large pot of tea for two people too
Quirky and quaint. Great place for tea and a slice of cake.
Just had a delivery of birthday tea so had it for lunch instead! What a fabulous idea for a different present. Everything about it was delicious and very well presented.
Awful cafe. Very disappointing. The service is terrible. Overrated.
This was a bit like stepping back in time. But in a good way. Excellent home made soup, sandwiches and panini. I was very grateful for the numerous glasses of cold water. Great service.
Would definitely visit again. Super friendly staff, delicious scones and other food, great portions and great prices. I was exploring Malvern Hills and stopped here for afternoon tea.
Great choice of food. Lovely loose leaf tea selection! Friendly staff.
Really good tea room . Plenty of choice.
Really lovely tea room good food and friendly staff.
Cosy and friendly tearoom. Staff very helpful, with a friendly greeting. Great food, and reasonably priced.
Lovely breakfast.
A small and traditional tea room, with stunning and delicious afternoon, as well as great soup and Jaked potatoes. Very friendly staff and dog friendly. Very Covid safe. A must go place in Malvern.
Beautiful, I love it here!
Lovely place, good polite service. Went for lunch with my wife. Ordered the quiche with coleslaw and mini jacket, my wife the small cream tea. Both excellent, lovely presentation and full of flavour. Tea was very tasty. Definitely will return.
Fantastic food, delicious tea and a lovely old world atmosphere. Highly recommended
Superb cream tea.
Lovely little cafe. Friendly staff. Wish it had a stairlift, Im disabled & can barely make it up the stairs. Great food, when I can make it up there.
A lovely afternoon tea with plenty of cakes, sandwiches and scones for two days worth of yumminess. Very reasonably priced and the benefit of having it delivered was huge for my grandma - especially in the current climate. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for an afternoon tea. Thank you
Exactly as expected. Superb!
Lovely tea rooms with friendly staff. Attention has been paid to making the tearooms Covid safe. Lovely scones!
Could have been a bit quicker service otherwise lovely food and excellent with the Covid precautions
We ordered the afternoon tea at the Bluebird tearooms. The scones and the assortment of homemade cakes were really good and not very heavy. The interiors are very quaint and cute and the service was really good!
Friendly staff, good coved restrictions in place, lovely food

Popped in for breakfast with my favourite daughter good COVID precautions friendly staff excellent breakfast and drinks .......
Malverns best scones! Afternoon tea here is very much recommended.
As youd expect in old Malvern everywhere is up or down a hill. The tea rooms are upstairs. The toilets are up more. Sitting by the heater in the fireplace was warm. The drinks were fine. The facilities clean. The service was quick. The staff were happy. Local art for sale on the walls.
Beautiful old tea room great tea and cakes been open since 1913
Love it here, always made to feel welcome. Great food and nothing is too much trouble. Visit weekly.
One of my favourite places, which I always visit when in Malvern. Traditional cooking, straightforward and good, at lunchtime and good selection of food for afternoon tea all very reasonably priced. Comfortable and with fine views across the main road to the Malvern Hills.
Great staff and location
Lovely olde worlde tea room, super cakes and sandwiches, will definitely visit again
Nice home made food in homely surroundings.
Such a lovely tea room one of our favourite place to go
Best Scone Ive had in a very long time! Lovely Family run Tea Room. Definitely going back
Lovely tearooms. Great food. The unusual flavoured scones were delicious. Friendly service. Traditional, local and unrushed. A welomed break in a busy world.
If you imagine a British tearoom, then it will look like this. This one even has a long history, with it being a favourite of Elgar. Cakes were great too by the way.
Really pleasant typical English Tearoom, simple food well prepared and very good value.
Loved the afternoon lunch with sandwich, scone and tea for five pounds.
You cant go wrong with a scone at the Bluebird - especially their savoury ones with cream cheese
How tea rooms should be. Try the scones, all of them!
Lovely place, great service and lovely food. Have been coming here for years.
Nice little place but a bit tired and food over priced. Small portions
A lovrly traditional tearoom im the heart of Malvern. Fresh, locally served food, fab cakes, friendly service.
Lovely food and great service. Highly recommend. Its a hidden gem!
Best scones
Had a very nice breakfast.
Very nice and excellent value. It is upstairs and didnt appear to have wheelchair access.
Small little tearoom with simple good food
Excellent service, nice food.
This is exactly what a Tea Room should be! We had the blue bird afternoon tea and were so surprised to be offered a variety of scones and jams. To top it off, the scones were warm and beautifully freshly baked, some of the best Ive ever eaten. The waiter was also really friendly and the whole place felt so homely. We have already decided to come back again next week.
Awsome scones
Quality Scones, friendly staff. Vegan options. 5*
Beautiful relaxed atmosphere, lovely staff recommended :)
Allowed my dog to dine, fantastic food, service a bit slow( but hay I aint complaining)
Lovely place to sit
Lovely afternoon tea
Lovely little tea room once frequented by Edward Elgar. Amazing scones- had to go back the following day to try another variety! Staff were friendly.
I found the place very cold I didnt see any heating on and the little fire was only on for decoration another lady next table to mine was saying how cold it was and the food the all day breakfast was cooked good but to expensive for a very small portion for the same money I had twice of everything at sainsburys in Kidderminster.
Delicious food, lots of vegan choices. Friendly, helpful service and good value for money. Will definitely go again next time we visit the area. Kevin & Clare
Allow plenty of time to get served, this was down to the popularity of the tearoom and the friendly relaxed nature of the staff. Food was delicious as was the selection of tea available. They have a great gluten free menu too and seem very allergy aware. Superb place to pass a few lazy minutes with a friend.
A lovely, welcoming, proper tea room that bakes their own cakes including gluten free ones, one of the servers (proprietor?) does sign language as well, if you visit Malvern then is a must do!
Enjoyed lovely signature cream tea, presented on lovely china & all at an excellent price
Lovely selection of teas with freshly baked scones and cakes. This is the place where the composer Elgar spent his afternoons by the way.
Great scones nice coffee
Great cup of tea, oldy worldy sort place, quite expected to see Miss Marple Walk in, its lovely and well worth a visit.
Always a lovely place to stop for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. Good value and very helpful staff.
Service excellent. Food tasty, I would have liked a bit bigger portion. Lovely atmospheric surrounding.
Lovely homemade food at a very reasonable price.
Lovely home made fare. Gluten and dairy free options. Best scones around !!
Lovely quaint tea rooms with tea served in china tea pots with china cups and saucers, delightful.
Lovely place to come and have your teas coffees lunch breakfast staff are so friendly makes me feel like home just by the town centre lovely views from the window
Lovely dog friendly tea room. Also offers gluten free choice if you like. Fresh, homemade scones and cakes and relaxed, friendly service. We appreciated the lady offering our border terrier a bowl of water and it was a pleasant view out onto the town. Definitely recommended!
Really lovely tearooms, great meals and cakes and loads of vegan options :)
Fabulous . Wonderful and cosy . The cream teas were amazing.
Always a pleasant experience but I wish they would get rid of the wallpaper/woodchip.
Lovely friendly place for afternoon tea
A curious little place. Service was a little on the slow side and didnt really have much flow to it (i.e. we arrived and it was unclear whether we needed to sit ourselves or wait to be given a table and we then had to pin the server down so we could order drinks/food and then again to pay the bill), however, the lady who served us was friendly and helpful and the food was very enjoyable.
The portions of cream for the cream tea were rather small compared to the size of the scones. The sandwiches were so thinly buttered that they tasted as if having been prepared with none.
Quiet and quaint. Lovely owners who excel in personal service
Have a wide range of gluten free and dairy free options on the menu.
Good varied selection of food. Also had Gluten and Dairy free options.
Nice cup of tea and hot scones with Strawberry jam.
Delightful
very nice afternoon tea in a very interesting building. be sure to read the history upstairs
Very friendly and helpful, excellent gluten-free options.
Lovely little tea room, come here every time we go walking in the hills
Lovely selection of GF food, including scones. Good service - not great for disabled access though.
Always lovely and enjoy the scones.

Excellent afternoon tea, scones are amazing!!
Excellent scone and Assam tea served by Caroline and Barry.
They cater for vegan and vegetarian food and its very nice food
Charming, quiet little tea room, with an excellent selection of homemade cakes (and 7 kinds of scone!)
A sandwich, Scone with Jam and cream and a pot to tea with a fine view of Belle Vue Terrace - can I say more. (I also recommend the breakfast too) The Food is all-round excellent. Service can be Slow at times however this is a small establishment
