Austin Fish & Chips in Maple Ridge

Used this place for 17 years since we moved to Canada my wife brought home take out tonight And it was by far the worst I ve ever had from here garbage fries and dry fish somebody blind must have been cooking tonight not impressed at all hopefully just a one off as it has always been a no brainer for fish and chips/ edit recently went back there and im glad to say food was back to its normal great fish n chips

Disappointment again. Last time, the chicken strips were chewy and stringy. Not fully cooked? This time, the strips were better, but quality still had gone down. And what happened to the French fries? It seemed like they were only partially cooked, too. Seriously, considering not going back, given that every meal is over $70, the last 2 were not good at all. Most of the food was thrown away.

Wrongfully charged me extra and then starts arguing with me for $3. Careful before you pay.

The fish was below average and no beer batter, no coleslaw or veggies and the fries were just average. I won t buy from them again. Too much money for the poor quality of food

Food is good, all you can eat is quality, take out is great with lots of choices. Staff is friendly and Resturant is wheel chair accessible

We used to be regulars and moved up country 3 years ago. Stopped in for a treat while down here for work, and it did not disappoint. Delicious as ever!! Don t tell my husband I was here. He will be so jealous!

Had the 2 piece pollock and chips for lunch. I have rarely had any better any place else. Service was great. The Atmosphere was alright for a Fish and Chip place in a mall. But it was not the Pan Pacific. Parking: Its in a mall. Plenty of parking.

Recently move to Maple Ridge and was getting to know the places around town stopped in for dinner and was very happy I did. Very welcoming and great food

Ordered for the first time and service was good, prices fair. The portion was good but fish pieces small and my opinion a need a bit more fries. Nothing seasoned, gravy also needs seasoning. And the tartar sauce honestly the worst tartar sauce I ever have had. Tasted like miracle whip salad dressing and nothing tartar about it. I doubt its homemade so change your supplier and if homemade Im sorry change recipe.

Really good fish and chips. This is one of our go-to places for Skip or a quick dine in. Nothing fancy, but their fish and chips are good for sure. Their tartar sauce is really good. Note that if you like malt vinigar with your chips, they only have it for dine in customers. White vinigar only for takeout or delivery.

If you order take out fish and chips you HAVE TO PAY EXTRA FOR MALT VINEGAR AND TAR TAR SAUCE! how do you justify charging for that....who says Id like fish nice and dry please prices doubled and portions are halved. After eating there for 20 years I definitely wont be going back!!

The Cod & Chips 2pc dinner was adequate, nothing special but hot and crispy fish, slightly overcooked fries and good coleslaw. The coffee was truly awful but I expect such from most restaurants. The Chilliwack location is MUCH better.

Chowder was bland

Came here for dinner on a Friday night, was greeted by an incredibly nice woman and got seated right away. Ordered all you can eat cod, very reasonable prices and great portions. The fish was delicious! I will have to return. Really recommend, you HAVE TO get the deep fried banana sunday.

I had a craving for fish and chips tonight and Austins in Maple Ridge didnt disappoint. Not only were the chips delicious but the fish was so tender and the cole slaw with a touch of lemon....sooooo fresh! Thank you Austin Fish and Chips. As Arnold would say, Ill be back

Really fresh and tasty. Batter was perfect, not too light and not to heavy or greasy. Such a yummy looking menu of choice as well. I cannot wait to try some of the other items I saw people ordering that looked great also. Friendly attentive staff and good price make this one a win-win. Sorry C- Lovers.... not even close.

Dietary restrictions: Its a deep fried fish and chips restaurant. Great halibut! Parking: Mall parking. Easy access. Wheelchair accessibility: Outside of a mall. Walker and other forms have easy access.

I usually get fish and chips from here on my birthday. Took a friend for lunch and ate so much including the fried pickles!

The polluck fish was ok but the fries were terrible and not fresh. It was as if they took leftover fries that someone else didnt eat on their plate from the previous night. The fries tasted very tough. I actually got sick couple hours later. Wouldnt recommend.

2 Piece cod + poutine cost 22 bucks, they didnt even bother to fry the fries just microwaved it or put it in the oven, very low quality fries, the fish was mediocre as well, also their menu prices online are off compared to what you actually pay in-store, For anyone looking at this review, just get the fish and chips from brownies chicken, they actually bother frying the fries and the fish is superior quality for less money.

Why do they close so early? Came by at 630 pm and they were closed.

Pretty disappointed.. ordered fish and chips last night which was pretty close to closing I ll give them that. BUT!! When you are ordering fish and chips you expect white fish.. I would never in a million years would think I would have to state that I want white fish. So we ordered no one asked which fish so I assumed they just did the classic which is white fish. We received Salmon which is a no go in this house so it went in the trash. We couldnt call last night as they were closed so we called this morning. They won t even offer a replacement meal. Say that they confirmed the order. Horrible customer service in my opinion. No one confirmed salmon fish with me. Waste of $70. I honestly would avoid this place if they can t make it right with their customers.

Ordered door dash and they subbed halibut for cod. Basically cost me 80$ for terrible soggy not what I ordered family dinner. Never again

Each time I visited Austin Fish & Chips it was very pleasant. Friendly easy to talk to and very concerned about each and every meal. I have never had any issues or concerns. Price is acceptable

Would have been 5 stars except the popcorn shrimp is an absolute ripoff. I ve attached a picture of what I got for $9. Everything else was tasty but this was a joke. Won t be ordering the popcorn shrimp again. The fish and chips are good portions sizes.

Food was terrible! Ordered $130 worth of food for the family, and what arrived was fish n chips that were overcooked and dry! The fries were dried out, and looked as though they had been sat out for while, and the fish tasted rubbery it was so overcooked. Definitely wont be ordering from here again.

Oh wow, 1st time having take out from this place. The staff are awesome and the Halibut and chips and coleslaw was 5 stars!!! I recommend Austin Fish and Chips, servings are huge!

Amazing salmon! The fries are just average but I would definitely order the fish to go and make a salad or something to go with it. The Cole slaw is pretty good. Not too heavily dressed. Light and citrusy.

Definitely a great place for Fish and Chips. We also got the prawns as an appetizer, Huge deep fried prawns and the deep fried oysters, soooo good! Fish was fresh and not Sysco. Recommend, for sure!

Not same owners as the Pitt Meadows store. Pitt Meadows taste and quality much better. Decor and kitchen in need of an update. Popular with seniors. Ordered all you can eat but the subsequent servings were not crisp or dark like the first serving. Overpriced. Stay away from clam chowder.

The fish in chips were gross. Way too much batter on the fish we didnt even know there was fish in some pieces and it was dry and just overall bad. The chips (fries) were old fries reheated and we didnt even eat them. A total waste of 50 dollars and I would not recommend. I will say Ive eaten there once before about a year ago and it was better.

Being a Brit I often get a craving for a good quality chip. The chips here hit the spot. I mean they arent the corner chippy chip you eat with a wooden fork back home but theyre pretty good. Nice crispy fish too. The service was also impressive. We will definitely be returning.

Had the halibut and chips and an order of calamari. Fish was delicious, the batter exceptional, cooked to perfection. The chips were bland. The calamari had a flowery texture, vaguely tasted like cheetos and seemed reheated to me, as it wasnt at all crispy, just kind of chewy. The fish saved this review and thats why Im giving it 3 stars. And nothing was soggy which Is always a plus. Work on the chips and calamari and I might consider going here again.

Great service, great food.. BUT, i wish they would offer a non-breaded grilled fish option. Not everyone at the table wants to eat deep fried. One healthy option would be so enticing, and far more likely for me to return with my family.

Nothing good about it. The all-you-can-eat portions are very small and they didnt ask if Id like more of anything. The tartar sauce tastes like sweet mayonnaise and the service was poor. Must have been a bad for them for so many things to be wrong?!

Family owned restaurant probably, ordered their 3 piece cod + fries, side of onion rings. Fries were spot on. Fish was crispy, inside was most. Not soggy at all. Onion rings were average. Only thing I think they should do is not to waste so much paper in their packaging for take out; there must be a better way to do it.

I had the Halibut. It was the best I have ever had. I will be back in a few weeks for more. I wish that they had a liquor license because fish and chips with a beer would be even better.

Not very tasty but the cod was fresh. Cole slaw is simple shredded cabbage difficult to chew specially for seniors with teeth issues. Fries are bland. Does a good business but I think you could get better, like C-Lovers on North Rd Coquitlam

Good chips and the fish is super. You get fish with a little batter, not batter with a little fish. My daughter and I came in just about it closing time, which we didnt know, so the waitress was borderline cranky. Including the coleslaw everything was really really good I say tasty. Well worth the money.

Such a disappointment from the original on Austin in Coquitlam. Glad I only had cod and not halibut because it was terrible. Wife added gravy and could not eat it. Feel sorry for the original location as this really hurt the reputation

Still delicious and savoury as I remember. The fish and Chips got more crispier. But sad to see that drink refills are limited to one.

Ordered cod & chips (pick up). Meal was basically inedible. Fries were hard as a rock, cod itself was ok but batter was hard and chewy. Feeling really sick after trying to eat. No one could finish even a single piece of fish and ended up throwing out the pieces we tried. When I phoned to let them know, they told me to bring the rest back in. I brought back more than half the original order, only to be told that no one else had complained and that everything looked fine. I noted that you can t really tell what something tastes like by looking at it. The woman behind the counter yelled and screamed at me and finally refunded our money, and told me never to come back then screamed at me that I was cheap. Not a problem there! We have been ordering fish and chips there every so often for a number of years but NEVER again. Absolutely disgusting - food, service and conduct of staff/ownership!
