I went to this restaurant for first time today. Was really excited but the way everything turned out was disappointing. We ordered chicken and prawn and specifically mentioned not to deep fry but still when we received it, it was deep fried. The server was pretty polite with us and took away the food and asked to get us a fresh one. But when food came we realised, it was same chicken they served, they just removed the skin and served us. We were super annoyed, and wanted to leave without eating. We expected them not to charge us for the items we didn’t even touch but we ended up paying for it, coz according to their owner they had to make it twice. Didn’t make any sense to me. Never going back!!!!!!
Best sushi place ever! The price is super reasonable and great amount of food! Quality and quantity both are incredible! Their service is alright but we go there because of their sushi!

Please don't put yakibsoba in a reg sushi container. Made a big mesh of my car. Otherwise very good!
They're so kind here very friendly Always treat us well We dine in weekly Most of the time we get veggie sonomono ebi sonomono 2 deep fried and spicy California rolls Regular California roll Dynamite roll And if we go in the afternoons or early dinner we get the love boat for 2 It comes with 2 miso soup 2 sonamono Chicken teriyaki or beef teriyaki Mixed tempura An assortment of nigiri and sashimi Great options for kids meals if the kids are picky there's always chicken nugget fries and rice
Second time this year I've been to this local restaurant, the food is always consistently good albeit this time at lunch they were short staffed. Normally would give them a higher mark on staff... Doc Livingston, local realtor and I had a meeting and arrived right at 12:00 and stayed till about 1:30. Right in the middle of the lunch rush. It gets quite busy in there and it was fairly noisy. If I knew it was going to be that busy I would have delayed lunch till 1:00... by 1:30 The place was almost empty. Yes a huge lunch rush kudos to the restaurant for their consistent good food and fair prices. Both of us had the bento boxes. My order was spicy salmon. I eliminated the tempura bringing the price down on the bento box by a small amount and had them bring me appetizer or side a sizable Gomei. Doc had the Sashimi bento box and asked for extra ginger which they supplied quickly. We had tea, although alcoholic beverages are probably available I didn't check. I would ask them next time to bring a teapot to the table if they have them. They seems they brew them and bring a carafe around and top up people's tea. Great when they are adequately staffed. This lunch time when we were there midweek they were short-staffed. My food was delayed, but it went arrived it was to the standard I was used to. Note to the manager they adjusted the order and bought us an extra dish that we had not asked for as a sampler and a gratitude for the wait. This restaurant does a huge takeout business... So if you're looking for takeout sushi in the Maple Ridge area, consider this place as they have three tables to place the takeout orders on near the front door. The atmosphere there is definitely in need of a update. It is not a fancy Japanese style restaurant. There are others in Maple Ridge that have significantly better atmosphere. I go here because the food is usually a five-star every time. If you're looking for a nice decor, fancy restaurant you'll need to choose another one. If you're looking for good food at a fair price, and usually excellent service, this would be a place to go! Located centrally in Maple Ridge... Easy to get to. Will I go there again, Yes!!!
Delicious! I have my usual spot but my friend wanted to go here. The food was delicious, fresh and large portions. We had the chicken teriyaki box and a couple rolls. Crispy roll and a mango roll yumm! Will definitely be going back.
We were excited to try the restaurant after reading all of the great reviews and were were even more impressed then we expected. The staff were all very friendly, they have a great menu selection. The food came quickly. The salsa were fresh and delicious. The sushi rolls were big and amazing. The tempura was lightly bartered and hot. Everything was perfect. The only thing we were a little disappointed about was that the bathroom was dirty. We are looking forward to coming back again.

I m new to maple ridge and was wanting to try out this sushi place to hopefully find my new spot because I love sushi. Absolutely delicious food that is so good every time. As someone who works in the food industry I tend to find something wrong with everything but this food is just soo so good always. The prices are very reasonable, And the service is so friendly and patient even when they have people waiting for takeout and a full house and are very busy. Would 150% recommend this place

Ordered takeout here the other day and everything tasted a bit off. Have you ever had sushi and the mayo was faintly reminiscent of cheese? It was very understated, but it didnt taste very fresh. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but my 9yo son agreed, it was not a try again place.

I usually go to Shinobi for sushi but a friend asked if I wanted to go to her spot. We went tonight and it was soooo good! I liked it better than Shinobi! Service was fantastic. Food was excellent and the portions were good. The seating is comfortable. Thumbs up!

This is our go-to sushi place in Maple Ridge. Great balance between price and quality. Good value. Take out is ALWAYS incredibly late. They lost a star for this and weve been considering going elsewhere.

The staff members are nice and helpful but overall standards could be much better. We were served sushi on a chipped plate. Sashimi was literally raw fish. Gravy boat was dirty.
Came there with 4 kids. We ordered quite a bit of food. In general, the sushi we ordered were mediocre. Nothing special. No wow effect. I ordered what they called a Spicy Beef Ramen. I am not sure what most people know about Ramen noodles but what I got looks to me like instant noodle. Taste was pretty bad. I could have made a better bowl of beef instant noodle soup myself. Paying $13 for it was not worth it in my opinion. I tried to talk to the female server about this, but she kept on saying she doesnt understand much English. So I gave up.
I want there on Friday. I ordered the Boat for 2 which includes tempura. I told the server that they forgot my tempura and they said no, it s not included in the boat special. Talked to the manager and kitchen even said it s not included. Then when I went to pay I showed them the menu which clearly stated that tempura is included and all they offered was $3 off the boat special which was $60 LOL So you forget Tempura which cost WAYYY more than $3 and try you charge me for it anyways and only offer $3 off? No thanks. Never coming back and telling everyone to avoid. These guys are scam artists. Hard pass if you care about your money.

Can t get a simple California and dynamite roll correct with no avocado. Messed up on 4 different occasions their fix was to try and order somewhere else. The language barrier is brutal and sadly will no go there again.
Food is good price is ok
We were worried about this location, but were absolutely starving after a day at the lake. This is definitely one of the best hole in a wall type restaurants. Food was superb and the young man he was our server was absolutely hilarious and just such a treat to be taken care of by. 10 of 10 out of 10 out of 10 will always recommend Kid-friendliness: Great for my 12 year old. We had a rockin time with the server.

Decent food, good sided portions BUT they screwed up my pick-up order AGAIN. They also have a habit of underestimating the time for pick up. Tonight we waited 40 minutes longer than they said, along with some other less than happy customers. Its almost as if they purposely tell you less time in order not to lose a sale.

Amazing sushi I highly recommend this spot for authentic Japanese cuisine.
Super disappointed with my experience here tonight. Called and placed an order. Had it read back to me to confirm and was told it would be ready in 30 minutes. Got there 28 minutes later an there was no order in the system for me. The best they could do was take it again and have me come back in another 30 minutes! No discount or other compensation or apology was offered (other than the 10% discount they always offer for paying cash). When my husband went back for the second time they didn t acknowledge the situation at all. No apology, no discount for next time (not that there will be one now). We loved the pricing and food here. But the whole experience left us pretty disappointed.

Best combos. My fave is the Sushi & Sashimi Dinner combo. You get 1 dynamite roll, 6 pc nigiri, 6 BIG pieces of sashimi, 5 pc tempura, miso soup AND sunomo salad! All for under $30!! It was so good I ordered it two nights in a row! #noregrets The sashimi was fresh and super yummy! Will definitely go back to try other items on the menu.
This is where I eat every single day. SUSHI SAMA goes the extra mile for their customers. I want to thank all the staff there for being top chefs in the Japanese cuisine in the local area. And very energetic polite servers that always put a smile on all the customers faces.

I do not understand why this place has such high ratings. The staff are friendly but look like they rolled out of bed and are wearing yesterdays clothes. The inside of the restaurant looks terrible and is not clean. The food was OK at best and now my stomach feels gross a few minutes after as the food settles :(

This is my favourite sushi place in Maple Ridge, unfortunately every time I ve called around 3-4 pm it s a 45 minute wait due to the staff being on break. For the past 2 months I have went to a different sushi place everytime Uve told me it s a 45 minute wait. Who knows, maybe I ll find one I like more if I keep trying new places !

Been coming here for 5 years. Unfortunately I had moved away and had to eat sushi s from somewhere else for a while </3 Nothing compares to Sama. Finally back and thrilled to be spending my rent money on their take out. Best bang for buck, amazing flavour, super kind front end and staff. I love coming here, keep up the good work guys. 10/10.

We ordered from them through skip the dishes, but they put our receipt on someone else s order, so what we received was completely wrong. Edit: the receipt inside the bag was for a different order, while our receipt was attached to the outside of the bag. The restaurant packed the order. It was not the driver s fault.

I never write reviews but I love this sushi restaurant so I just need to. I am allergic to fish and I always have a problem with cross contamination. I usually get kinda sick every time i have sushi and it s annoying but this restaurant is the ONLY ONE I have not gotten sick from. It is now the only one I ll ever go to I have this sushi like one a week minimum

I cant beleive that I have paid top dollar at so many sub par sushi restauraunts all over the lower mainland when some of the best tasting and most affordable sushi I have ever had was just 1 block from my home. Keep up the good work!
Havent tried this place yet, so cant comment on taste. However I asked them to cut my salmon in thinner slices coz its easier to eat, front desk said they cant do it and all the fish has been pre cut = not fresh. Would not consider ever trying.
Only 2 tables and very poor service. One meal brought out and than waited approximately 5 minutes for the others, after that never saw the waiter for more tea and water. Meal was okay.

When I went to pick up my order it was all over the place, staff was complaining about working there right infront of me then they missed roles and soups in my order. I have tried calling them multiple times and they just never pick up their phone. My experience with customers service here has been by far the worst Iv dealt with in a long time. I have to drive 20min back to the restaurant to try and fight for a refund. Hope they can at least figure out how to pick up the phone in the future very unimpressed and will not be returning and hope they will at least give back the money for the roles I didn t receive eventually. (Food wasn t bad though just terrible customer service that put as all off this restaurant)
cute place ran by super nice people; food is good quality and i always feel welcome in the restaurant, not like im being rushed or am somehow unimportant. also a decent amount of vegetarian options :3 Vegetarian options: vegetarian rolls, appetizers, soups, sides, etc are available although im not sure about cross contamination. im a vegetarian myself and theyve always honoured that fact.

Had takeout here the other day. Was pleasantly surprised by their service and blown away by their ngiri. This will be my go to sushi spot in Maple Ridge. I called them to put in a takeout order after finding them on UberEats. Food was ready in 25 minutes. Much to my joyful surprise their prices are also better if you go through them instead of Uber! When I arrived to pick up my food I was greeted by several very kind staff, informed that my food had just been packed and was quickly on my way. When I got home I discovered that they had thrown a few extra ngiri in my order for free! Im not one to complain about free eel! We had ordered Gyoza, French Kiss Rolls, California Rolls, Spicy Tuna Rolls and Ngiri for two of us to share. It came to a very reasonable $40 and was more food than I had anticipated! Everything was done very well, full of flavor and color, and was a delight to eat. The thing that stood out the most to me however was the ngiri. Outside of being given a few extra pieces, it stood out as the most fresh ngiri Ive had in memory.
