I freaking LIVE for this sushi place ... 10/10 for the Canucks rolls. It is literally EVERYTHING you want from a sushi roll. You want that tuna spicy, you want crunchy, you want tobiko, asparagus, tempura, crabmeat, freaking lotus root. Just get it mmmmmk oh and also that ginger you know that damn good shit they put on the side well its also just perfect. The only reason I put atmosphere lower is cuz there is none you order online you pick that delicious bag of mouth orgasm up and you leave knowing that you are about to thank God that wonderful sushi chef is living in the same town you in right now ok byeeee

Ive been coming to Shinobi Express for the past year and its the only sushi restaurant in east Maple Ridge that deserves 5 stars. Other places have the classic teriyaki bento boxes that are less expensive, but if youre ordering sashimi and want food made to order this is the place to go. Takeout usually takes 30-45mins, but I have no problem waiting for my usual order - express bento box D. The house roll is my second go-to order. Side note - the tuna gomae isnt the traditional boiled spinach with tuna sashimi on top, its a green salad with sashimi and dressing on the side. It wasnt what I expected the first time I ordered it, but still tastes amazing and has a generous amount of sashimi. The only downside is that I order often enough that they know me by name when I walk in the door to pick up food.

Picked up my sushi - was ready to go and all was great. No sesame seeds on the cucuber roll this time so appreciated that, thank you. Sashimi was just right.

Man, these guys dont mess around when it comes to salmon sashimi. The slices are massive and are actually worth the price you pay. Had the avocado rolls too and the avos were perfectly ripe and not hard or brown on the slightest. Will be back for sure.

This was a solid bento box for $12.95 I added a cream cheese Cali roll as well came to $22 with tax. Was full when I finished everything. Would order there again.

Wow this place is super fresh and tasty. Ive lived in vancouver, North van and Richmond and this place definitely stands out for flavor, portion and quality, tasty ingredients.

While the food was very good and fresh the hour and 15 minute wait beyond the time they posted via the website (and 30 min longer than what we were told when we arrived for pick up) is enough that I wont return - they really do need to refine their on-line order system

While food is good in the area, punctuality is poor and attitude is getting poorer. Ordered pickup for dozen times and only once was on time and the rest of times were late in between 10-30 minutes. They used to apologize for being late on orders but recently they have not apologize at all, in fact they starting to respond like 5 more minutes, you can wait there , so they can take payments or orders from the line behind me. If not for the food taste quality, I would give them 1 star only. Please improve as I will only order one more time to see if there is any improvement or I will give my business elsewhere.

Just wondering .we have ordered from here many times, always fresh. The last couple of times we ordered the rolls were cut, laid flat, whereas previously rolls cut, but left standing. Doesn t seem like same amount of food., seemed less. Not sure why the change?.Much preferred as before. Of course we never counted rolls either times, but prev. had some leftover, but not now. Do they want it to appear like you r getting more?

The slowest sushi place I ve ever been to. Every time I come to pick up they are 20 mins late. Tonight s order took them 90 minutes to make. 5 rolls. Honestly, I ve tried them a couple times to give them the benefit, but every time I m disappointed with their order time and constant of being 20 mins late

Ive noticed the past year their miso soup and rice that comes with the Donburi, to be overly salty. I always get the same thing, and lately Id have to throw away the miso soup and half the rice. :/. Still my fav spot for sashimi hands down.

Not very express. I have ordered here over 10+ times and the food is good. But if you plan to order for a specific time and you are in a rush between 5-8pm they for the life of there business can never make there quoted time. Always 20-30 minutes late and because of the horrible quoted times you have massive line ups vs customers picking up the food and leaving quickly. You have been opened for a while now and should know your ticket times. Fix your issues by now. Editing ..ordered many times and recently has been much better the girl on the phone quoted a time and the order was ready for it. Food has always been good.

Do not order off of Skip. Portion sizes are ridiculously small compared to the dine-in Shinobi, prices are higher too.

This is the first time that I tried the express Shinobi, I usually go to the one on 224th Street. Reading over the reviews they were sort of mixed so I wasnt too sure what was going to come of my visit. It was great. The food was on time I ordered online and the time that they specified was a time the food was ready. The amount of food I got was more than I thought I would get so I was quite pleased. Would definitely go back again food was great customer service was great overall an excellent experience.

I ordered off skip the dishes ordered a Maple Ridge roll and two pieces of nigiri red snapper and the food was super tasty the only issue I have is on skip you have the option to let them know any specific instructions as I asked for a large thing of house sauce and no Wasabi but I got what I asked not to have other the that really tasty and didnt take too long to make and skip

Best tempura, best gyoza and the quality of fish is sublime - thank you always and shout out to Judy who always made sure we were well-taken care of! When we found out that the Shinobi on 224 closed because of a kitchen fire, we were devastated. To this day, we are proud and loyal customers, and joyfully welcome Shinobi Express to the Cottonwood neighbourhood! We missed you guys! We re glad you re back and thriving!

Good food but you re guaranteed to be waiting a ridiculously long time for take out. Ordered online for a 730 pick up time, had to wait until 825 to get our order.

We ordered the Favourite combo A, Spicy Maple Ridge Roll, Crispy Crunch Roll &, The Crazy Salmon Roll! All soooo good!!

The food is great BUT their policy seems to be to not make your pickup order until you have shown up and paid for it. Theyve always been this way. Palliotis used to do the same. This policy makes me not want to order pickup from them. I wish they would change.

We have lived in Maple Ridge for 23 years and always enjoyed Shinobi. Finally tried Shinobi Express and WOAH, I would highly recommend staying away from here until they work all the kinks out. I ordered food at 6:55pm and was given an 8:05pm pickup. Once I arrived on time I was told it would be another ten minutes, to just wait in the car. 20 minutes later...nothing. At 8:25 I was told another ten minutes. At 8:45 we finally said we would need a refund if they cannot guarantee when it will be ready. They tell us wait five and it ll be ready, and it finally was at 8:50. Had they been honest when we called that they are backlogged, I could then decide if I wanted to wait an extra 45 minutes. Other customers had waited 2-3 hours there as well. And many were turned away at 8:20 for the night because they couldnt keep up. We received three cans of pop as an apology however on a $100 bill that doesn t quite cut it. Shinobi Express - please be honest with your customers about the wait time!!

This place has long waits for a reason. It is THE BEST. We have been patiently waiting all month while they work out the new kitchen and test their capabilities and it was worth it. The low reviews here from people who are upset about the wait times are upsetting to see. This restaurant had a LARGE following that was waiting for months for this place to open. Couple that with Covid restrictions and opening during lockdown mean that they faced some pretty crazy demand when they opened up at their new location. Plan accordingly and thank me later. You wont find better sushi in Maple Ridge.

Ordered Party Tray D, and made a complaint because the sushi rice was not properly cooked. I was not even able to chew the rice. Shinobi offered me to exchange for new Party Tray D, and guess what I found in my sushi roll, HAIR! It was disgusting!!! I was so upset that I decided to write a review and share my terrible experience. Terribly low quality food. This new Shinobi Sushi Express is not recommended.

Hands-down the best chicken teriyaki rolls ive ever had.

The food was really good on 224th so we thought to try it. However the express is not doing well with the timing of their orders. It can take 2 to 3 hours to get food. We ordered at 5:15 and wont get it until after 7. Know others who have did the same thing. Will not go back until they fix that.

Ordered over $100 worth of food. Showed up to pick up and it ended up being 20 minutes later then originally told and when I got home with my food I was missing $20 of my order. I can understand the food being late when its busy but not missing a large portion of what I ordered. For what its worth, the food we DID get was very good so theres no issue with quality

The sushi is delicious! But.. It took an hour and a half for my small order to be ready. It was a Friday, but an hour and a half is too long to wait for a place that has express in its name. Maybe this is an indication that more locations would be a good idea? Its obvious people love the sushi.

Nothing express about this joint, I wouldnt reccomend unless you order 4 hours before you pick up. Better luck overnighting sushi from Japan then getting a meal when they say itll be ready.

Very impressive customer service. I was in a rush to order online and forgot to tell them about my husband s lemon allergy. When he opened the box, there wasn t lemon on his sashimi while the rest of my family s food did.They knew from our past orders that we had requested no lemon. Besides their high quality of food, their professional services make a long wait worthy!

So, this place is called Shinobi express specializes in take out... right ? Every. Single. Time. The food is 30_60 minutes late. Who wants to spend an hour waiting in a parking lot for take out??? All that said, the quality has definitely gone downhill from their old location. The rice is not as good, the rolls are messy. Will not order from here anymore. Sayonara!

After going to the location on 224 for 3 years before it burnt down, we were excited when this location opened. Unfortunately this smaller location cant keep up with the orders coming in and the quality of the food is starting to suffer. My hot food (gyoza, yakisoba, don bowl and teryaki) were all cold by the time the fresh sushi was ready. Placed an order at 4:30, given a 5:20 pickup time. Arrived at 5:15, paid, and was told 5 more minutes. My order was not ready until 5:50. This is the 4th or 5th time the estimated time has been way off, and hot food has been cold and soggy. Unfortunately Shinobi has lost us as a customer. Hopefully the location on 224 can be rebuilt and they can resolve these issues.

Disappointing seeing that your posted business hours are for 9 pm. I called 32 minutes before closing time and offered to come and pick up food promptly. There are not many places to enjoy food in Maple Ridge. As a local wanting to support local businesses during a pandemic, its a bit discouraging, especially on a Friday night not being able to enjoy some take-out after a long work week. Just a suggestion...as I also worked in hospitality for 20 plus years....take care of your happy regular customers so they keep coming back. This is the 3rd time weve been turned away for food service.

Nothing special and slow to pick up. Lettuce in the beef teriyaki roll was a little weird/soggy. Mango avocado roll was excellent. Miso soup was watery, tempura was average.

They got one of my rolls wrong and charged me double for it. We also ordered California rolls and a spicy crunch tuna. 6 rolls for 3 people. Non of us could get our food down it was so gross. Lacking flavor or was so fishy it was just disgusting. Waste if money. Once again remorse for cheating of Maple sushi!

Shinobi sushi is the only sushi in maple ridge that I will eat. It s always fresh & they have great special roll options. It does get really busy so make sure you order your food well in advanced! I see a lot of people complaining about wait times but honestly I would rather wait an hour for their sushi then get a subpar sushi in 20 minutes somewhere else.

Fish was super fresh and quality. Spicy tuna has sauce on top instead of mixed in, and tuna chunks were really thick. But still good.

it saddens me to have to give such a poor review. If you have not read the reviews from MANY others in the past few months, do it. Far too many customers are waiting, waiting, waiting, for far too long past when they were promised their food would be ready. Itis happening too often! it is NOT acceptable. Let me start by saying the do have good sushi, not great but very acceptable. What they do not have is ANY sense of time. On SEVEN occasions now I have ordered from them. (I think that shows i do have patience). I have gone there and ordered. I have gone online and ordered. I have phoned and ordered. Their online system tells you when it will be ready. I ALWAYS give it an added 15 minutes. Yet when i get there, I still have to wait 20 more minutes. When I phone in and ask how long it will be they tell me 45 minutes. I ask for it to be ready in one hour...nice to give them extra time. Still had to wait 20 more minutes PAST the one hour. When i have gone there and ordered directly, same thing, never ready when promised, always at least 20 minutes late, twice over 40 minutes! So then last time i thought I will call in, take the time they suggest, go early to pay....should work right? NO, AGAIN, IT IS 20 MINUTES SLOW. Today was the last straw. Called at 5pm. They could have it ready at 545. I said i will be there to pickup at 6pm. Got there at 545, paid, SHE said it would be ready at 6pm. Got back at 6pm sharp, not ready. At 610 i said give me my money back i am done. THEN the chef said ...one more minute....almost done...i waited two minutes, finally got it. They have lost my business. Lots of sorry, sorry, Lots of promises like before that they would do better. Offered me a discount for next time...NOT INTERESTED! It is not about the money, it is about doing what they promise. THEY DONT So if you want good sushi and do not care if they get it done when promised, then go here...EXPRESS it is not.. If you want good sushi AND have it ready when you were promised, go to ABURIYA on Dewdney just east of Edge street. Been there over 50 times and NEVER once have they failed me. Shinobi is closer but i will drive to Aburiya.

You guys advertise stuff on your menu you dont even have and when asked about it all I got was some lady being rude and stand offish when asking a simple question after Ive called 3x and had to go in person? No thank you.. there is a way better place up the road more than happy to serve you.

Nothng Express about this place whatsoever.It was equally poor when previously located on 224th. Why do people wait to pick up orders much longer than the pick up time given by the restaurant? The catch is that when you arrive for pick up they give you the impression the order is ready,you pay,you are now committed,and then youre told it will be another 20 min wait which turns into 30 mins. The food is equivalent to others in Maple Ridge and far from worth the wait

The place has good food but the wait is horrible and as much as we are fans we need to find a better alternative. The additional 30min wait typically starts after you pay for your order (which is 60min after you are told to arrive) - so it s about 90min to get your food on a Friday. Thank you Shinobi, but you need a better system. Currently at 107min (or 37min late) sitting outside in the rain. I wish I could just get my money back!

Best sushi in Ridge hands down. Problem is their punctuality. Every single time I come here they say ready at [whatever time] and when I go to pick it up I have to wait 15+ minutes. Should change the name to Shinobi Eventually.

The BEST sushi in Maple Ridge! It s very important to mention that express does not mean fast! Freshest sushi I ve found in ridge and just as good as at their original location. Except for the fact that this location does take out only, hence the title. Yes, I ve had to wait a bit for my order however, it s 100% worth the wait. They are a busy restaurant for a reason!

I absolutely love Shinobi.. Im even more excited they moved to my neck of the woods. Although they are so busy all the time it can be a wait.. but if you know that be sure to order earlier. They are extremely friendly and Ive never walked into a sushi place where they know my name, and say hi Devon, bye Devon ! So I love that about them. Not to mention their food is sooooo good. I recommend the caterpillar roll and the Philadelphia roll.. as those are my favorites.. but knowing them, anything they have is delicious.
