Very disappointing experience. ordered two dishes for takeout and had to wait an entire hour to get my food. No updates or apologies during the wait. The food wasn t worth the frustration. I won t be coming back.

Yup confirming what everyone has been saying recently...theres an ownership change so I definitely agree the food quality has decreased but overall still acceptable if you want something quick and affordable.

Update October 4, 2024 as in many other recent reviews, the food quality declined in this visit. It was still good 4 months ago. Probably a change of owner or chef. We might give it another try after some time. Hopefully it is just temporary. I liked this restaurant and hate to shop around.

I just found out recently that it has changed hands and the taste and ingredients are not as good as before!

Update Oct 2024: This place has gone downhill by A LOT. The sauce of the curry chicken and rice is THICK, not liquid at all. It also doesnt coat around the chickens and potatoes. Too much peppers and potatoes and not enough chickens now. Will not be returning. My favorite Chinese take-out place in Markham! Quick service, delicious and authentic Chinese food (especially their baked spaghetti bolognese and curry chicken), good portion size and fair pricing. Im just confused about which dishes will come with free drink and/or daily soup and which dishes dont. It could have been stated more clearly in their menu.

I ve been a regular at this restaurant for the past two years, but I ve noticed a decline in food quality recently. Today s experience has convinced me to stop coming here. I ordered black pepper chicken with fries, vegetable soup, and lemon tea. The chicken was thin, small, and very tough. What used to fill the box now sits half empty. The vegetable soup was extremely salty, containing mostly potatoes, with tiny shreds of cabbage and an unusual amount of lemon seeds. Thankfully, there was still lemon in the lemon tea, but the tea itself was very watery. This place used to be a reliable spot for food, but I suspect there has been a change in ownership. It s time to say goodbye.

I have ordered from here before but was quite a while ago. The food was not very good. I tried the Sweet and Sour Chicken last night. It was delicious! I think it is new owners. I will try some other dishes. 2 Days later I ordered the s&s ch again and added young chow fried rice and Cantonese chow mein. All 3 dishes were delicious. The Cant CM was a tad bland but noodles were good. I really dislike cant noodle that is too wet. SS CH VERY good again and young chow also very good. Thanks M&Y

The dish is just so so. Mediocre at best the thing is they force you to pay by debit card even though their pos machine does take credit card!! will definitely not come back

New owners!!! Warning! No longer good food at all. Just waisted $70.My favorite spaghetti bolognese in town is NOW GONE :(. All the previous reviews are no longer relevant!!! Even the borsh is now not good. ALL 5 dishes were such a desapointment and we threw most of them out. My entire family is so that WE LOST the go to feel good food WE WENT to ONCE A WEEK. NO MORE! A SAD DAY INDEED. Does anyone know if old owners are opening a new one?

The quality of food has dropped drasticly since the last time we were there. The owner changed resulting in the quality being poor turning the restaurant from great to a mediocre. We use to go there a lot and it was one of our favorite restaurants but now I think that this meal will be our last. I am very disapointed as i alwayd looked forward for meal from this restaurants. I do not recomend this restaurants.

Place is a hidden gem. Affordable prices and great portions. Food are hot even for take out when I take them out at home. Flavor wise is good. Cant really complain while comparing it to other asian diner places in the area.

Ordered pad Thai and it was excessively sweet with extra peanut sauce. I ve had pad Thai in several places but believe me this place is the worse. I went back to address my concern and they did not replace it and said there is nothing they would do. Worst experience. Do not recommend.

Hidden gem. In a hidden plaza. This is an authentic restaurant, with great food, great prices, and great staff. They have converted to a take-out only model of service, but the food quality remains the same. Just too bad you can not dine in now. Would highly recommend trying out all of their authentic dishes and supporting this local business!

Their food is amazing and you must try the general Tao chicken the best I have ever had.l also love their sweet and Sour Pork. I recently tried the chicken wings they were nice and crispy .

After all the good reviews, I decided to give this place a try. Honestly, their Spaghetti Bolognese is the best! I love trying new dishes, but every time I order from this place, I couldnt help but order this again and again. If I go often enough, I would choose something different but its not convenient to where I live. But I do look forward to trying other dishes, if I dont crave for their Spaghetti Bolognese next time! The staff at the restaurant is always friendly and well-mannered, whether they are on the phone or in-person. What a hidden gem!

This is one of the best hidden gems at Unionville main. Authentic Hong Kong cafe dishes with generous portions. My go to is the black pepper chicken with fries and milk tea. Try it you won t regret it. Captured this photo back in 2019 and 4 years later, I am still getting it. They have been take out only post Covid.

Ordered 7 dish ($100) and none of them taste good/authentic. One of the worst Singaporean vermecelli ever (no taste with just yellow colouring). The Yeung chow stir fried rice was made with some cold cut ham.

Have been ordering take out from M&Y for years. It used to be our favourite place for takeout. Getting very disappointed recently as food quantity has dropped so much. It became unacceptable with the dishes order today, vegetable is very sandy, general Tso chicken is dry and frying batter is too thick.

M and Y has been our go to restaurant since we moved to our place years ago. We used to dine in almost every weekend before COVID. But eating there almost every week hasn t really changed because we have been buying takeouts from them since COVID. Their food taste amazing and the portions are very generous and everything becomes even better when they are very reasonably priced. Their daily specials always include a great mix rice, noodle and spaghetti dishes. Regardless what your taste buds ask for, you won t be disappointed with your order!

This place has become our go to for Chinese take out. The prices and quantity are great, and the food delicious. Love how we could easily order online and our orders are always ready on time. Staff wear their masks properly.

This restaurant is located in a plaza near Markham road and Hwy 7. They are offering take out only for the time being. I tried out their baked pork chops with rice set meal which comes with soup and drink for only $10. Their pork chops is very tender and thick, portion is good and price is unbeatable. It s one of the best in town, highly recommended!

Had stir fried rice noodle with beef and it s really lack of flavour. Also ice milk tea was not the typical milk tea you will get, just taste blend. Only reason you would go there is for the value of the meal.

First time to try there foods, ordered online and went to pick up. Found out I could get cheaper price if I called to order. Because they always had tea set or special daily menus. Foods were ok. Could not expect too much in these price.

This is my favourite Chinese Cantonese style restaurant. Not msg, fast, good and tasty. My recommendations are pork chops baked rice, all the curries, all the typical lunch menu dishes.

Price is great, food is really good. Probably one of the better HK cafe in Markham. Price to quality ratio is probably #1 in Markham. Would come back to try again for lunches and dinners.

M and Y was recommended to me by a friend. Its a small restaurant offering lots of classic Chinese dishes. Currently takeout only, they have blocked off all the seats and tables. You can call ahead to avoid long wait-times. We got the beef fried rice noodles, taste ok but nothing to write home about.

M&Y Restaurant is a small unassuming place on a side street near downtown Markham that serves great tasting Chinese food. Their food is so delicious and very affordable, especially when ordering from their combo menu. Typically, three dishes, including rice and soup, cost only $33.95. Thats a great deal these days! Its been quite a while since Ive been here so I ordered Beef with Chinese Broccoli, Pork Belly with Preserved Vegetable, and Braised Chicken in Hot Pot. All were absolutely delicious! They had so many other great choices, Ill just have to come back another time. The only thing I didnt like were the foil containers that they use, as opposed to the leakproof plastic ones available from most places these days. Theyre currently open for takeout only, with their dining room remaining closed since COVID protocols were put in place. Check them out!

Without Yelp, I would of never known this place existed. This is my definition of a hidden gem. My restaurant ticks off all the things I want in a HK style cafe. As long as you dont mind the old school look, this is a place for all HK style cafe fans. This place is tucked in a small plaza. There would be no way you would know about this place without something like Yelp. Walking in, there are a few seats, but the place is definitely on the small side. There are a couple of booths and a large table in the middle. The seating is definitely tight here. Good thing is turnover is really quick in a place like this so you wont have too wait too long for a table. One of my biggest rants with Chinese businesses is if they lack English on the menu. Im a firm believer that you should have English menus available no matter what type language is predominantly spoken. My restaurant has English for every single item they sell here. Even the daily specials have English written as well. Prices here are very good for a HK style cafe. You can expect to see prices $1-2 cheaper than others places. We had a baked pasta, bbq pork and duck on rice and a side order of wings and fries. The portions here are very generous for what you pay. Taste wise, the food is on par if not a little better with what you expect for a HK style cafe. Its a quintessential HK style cafe, decent food at a great price. Like I mentioned before, this place is old school. The decor is out of date, some things are held together by duck tape, etc. Its a no frills approach to eateries. If youre used to this kind of thing, it wont bother you at all. Come in with realistic expectations, you will be fine. This is a place thats favoured by the locals. Everyone who came in was a regular. The staff here knew them all and what they wanted. Its got a real homey diner type vibe. We were knew but the staff were very friendly and helpful. They made our kids feel real welcome as well. Overall, I loved this place. It will defeinitely be on my regular rotation eating out. Our bill came out to $29 taxes in. That was for 2 entrees with soup and drink and a side order of wings and fries. You cant beat value like that.

Got curry beef brisket and rice lunch special plus a hot and sour soup. Both delicious. Beef brisket very nicely cooked, tender and flavourful. Curry sauce not spicy, but Id say perfect flavour. That was $10.99 plus tax. Hot and sour soup is on the sour side but that is exactly what I love. That was $4.75. all very generous portions. I could have the soup alone and that would fill me up and still have another full serving left over. Had leftover brisket as well. So much food. They get busy during lunch with a lot of phone in take out orders. I walked in and ordered and wait time to get food is about 10 mins. Very efficient and friendly staff. I will return to try other items on their menu. Definitely recommend.

Great place to get inexpensive Hong Kong style Chinese food. A lot of bang for your buck. I usually get whatever is on the daily specials because those are great deals. I really like the tomato and cheese pork chop on rice or the curry beef brisket. You get way more meat than youd expect.

Not sure what happened to the old Google page with all its reviews but M.Y. restaurant has been around for a while now and theyre serving delicious and affordable HK cafe food. My favourite local HK cafe! They have daily specials on the white board when you go in store which are great value and comes with soup and a drink. The staff are quick and friendly and have adapted to provide contactless pickup.

Very mom and pop owned chinese restaurant. Resembles HK cafe but a less fancy version. Food was good and good portion sizes. They have lunch specials but change every week so it s best to call them or just order in store when you can see the full menu.

I simply cant recommend this to anyone that are English only speakers. Here is a short summary of my experience: Phone Call #1: Tried calling in my order, they couldnt understand. Requested I call back with the # on menu. Phone Call #2: Called with the Menu #. They still couldnt understand. They suggest I might have an older menu. Requested I order in person. In Person: Picked up a new menu and ordered. Requested I pick up food in 10mins Pickup: Lady at the front couldnt understand if I was picking up or ordering food. Thank goodness the lady that took my order heard me so she was able to yell to the pickup lady what I was there for. That being said, the food was quite good. If you do want to try this place and can only speak English, youll want to order online. Otherwise expect to be frustrated :(

Ordered online. The process was easy and some to follow. My order was ready on time and waiting at the counter as you walk in the door. Ordered the set dinner for 3 and the containers we filled to the top. The vegetables were fresh and the dishes were hot and delicious. Very good value for what you pay.

First time bought takeout food a few days ago and came back the second time for some other food. Surprisingly the food quality is very good (comparing with the similar Hong Kong style restaurants). The owner (I think she is) said that the business has been there for 4 years. You dont really expect the food to be that good considering the not so fancy outside decor. Portion is big and prices are reasonable. If you like the Hong Kong style cafe/restaurants where they have almost everything from breakfast to congee to rice dishes and dinner combos, this place is a must to try.

Solid Cantonese-style restaurant, on downside was the online order didn t go through so had to reorder it when I was there but the portions and flavours of daily special were solid. Explains why there were so many people picking up!

Local chinese restaurants with long history. Friendly accomodating staffs, fast turnaround, reasonably priced and most importantly delicious food with variety. My family grow up on their food.

Good prices and a big menu. Cant go wrong here if you want something quick and filling.

HK-style cafe food at great value. In general, is my go-to Chinese restaurant over more mainstream places like Phoenix or Congee Queen (although its not entirely apples to apples in terms of what you would order). Expect an experience similar to the typical HK-style cafe you get at places like First Markham Place, but just located in this more east part of Markham. I like them mainly because I think they do their menu well, and the price is so reasonable. Theyve become one of my favourite comfort food places in the neighbourhood.
