Small cute cantonese Chinese restaurant in the heart of First Markham place. Parking can be a little troublesome during peak times. But this is cheap with decent quality! Note: Food took a little long to come out when it's a full house.
The duck was quite disappointing. It took a long time to come and there was no seasoning in the meat itself, the sauce was the only seasoning which made it taste bland when you got to the thicker portion of the meat.
This is a small restaurant in the heart of Markham in the busy First Markham Place is a nice break from the fancy places that are putting a huge dent in our wallets these days. The restaurant is one of the few places that provide a variety of double boiled soup at a very reasonable price. Most of the regular dishes are appropriately $16 each. You can’t beat the price and the food do taste good!! If you want a hearty meal without paying for the fancy decor, this is the place worthy to stop by and enjoy a good meal.

No frills, cheap and cheerful Cantonese restaurant located within First Markham Place plaza. Came here for lunch and ordered their $12 lunch menu items. They all come with a soup and hot beverage of coffee, tea or hot lemon water. It's more cost effective than nearby First Markham Place foodcourt. Had the spare ribs fried noodles, stir-fried eggplant chicken with steamed rice and steamed preserved vegetable tilapia with plain rice. All items were cooked to order. Tastes were well balanced, not too oily or added MSG. Staff was friendly and efficient. Cutlery and plateware are all clean. However, floors could use some scrubbing, walls and doors could use a fresh coat of paint. Surprisingly, ventilation is alright, I didn't get the greasy smell on my clothes. Many phone and walk-in customers ordering lunch menu items for takeout.
Good food but service disappointed me a little. They're known for their soups but when I got there they only had 3 options. Then she returned to say only 2 options. Then a walk in customer wanted the one I ordered and I fully can hear and see that. Then the server told another server to take the last option so they can give that customer my choice of soup. I found that rude. But overall the food was great.
A place for homestyle Cantonese dishes! This place has been around for 11 years. But, it’s my first time trying Wei’s Kitchen. The owners are from the province of Guangdong (formerly of Canton) just south of Hong Kong which is where my parents originated from and so the dishes are inspired from this region. Here for the lunch Specials which are around $7.99 - $8,99 and includes a clear homemade broth and a drink (HK style coffee or HK Milk Tea). So I grew up with this kind of comfort food .... my fave Steamed Minced Pork with Salted Fish on rice. The Cantonese style Chow Mein is really well done. The noodles with the right crispness with shredded pork & bean sprouts. The Stir Fried Beef with rice noodles were also tasty with a good ratio of noods and bean sprouts. Affordable, tasty place. The sign says Wei's Kitchen, but the menu says K & F. Service was good, but it took the waitress quite a while to take our order. The teapot had some tea stains (?) that I could wipe off with a tissue, so that seemed a little unclean. Food was good, but the salty fish and chicken with tofu bowl I ordered had very (and I mean very) little chicken and fish. At least there's a complimentary Chinese soup dessert at the end!
Food was not that great after upgrade atmosphere
Terrible experience with the servers at this restaurant. The ladies there were bad mouthing every customer in cantonese which I overheard and were also extremely rude in answering their questions. Food was average, and portions were small. Never visiting this place again...

A very busy Saturday night in Markham Square and it was very difficult to find a parking space. After a few rounds, it was difficult to find a parking space. I helped a Wei kitchen that I haven t used in a long time and is a good place for making soup. The dining room is small in size, has no decoration, and the dishes and chopsticks are very messy. There is indeed no service that satisfies you and me. Also cash or debt only restaurant. No hope, no disappointment I ordered Taiye Five Favors Duck (5 favorites Duck) - you can skip it. Deep fried garlic chicken-is fried chicken legs. Home style 8 treasures (home style 8 treasures)-It used to be fried in eight kinds of shredded meat and buried in a plate, which was the king of stir-fry. Braised tofu with vegetables - is a relatively large portion. White Pepper Pork Tripe Soup - give it a try. The total bill, including tax and tip, is CAD100.00 in cash. Whether it is determined or not depends on whether there is a next time.
If youre not Chinese, consider going with a Chinese friend to help you with the menu. Despite its size, the place offers high-quality food that you wont find elsewhere, making it a pleasant surprise. Part 2: If youre a regular patron, their friendly staff, like , remembers and recalls your previous favorites. You feel happy when you repeat your order, and you will feel happier if you try some new ones.
Their dishes are really tasty with no or very little MSG added especially salt-baked chicken. The only thing is that they used to give out free dessert for everyone at the end but not anymore (as of February 20, 2024). Also, prices have increased to point that the final bill for 2 dishes would come out to be around $40 now.
You can have dry-fried beef river without rice noodles or dry-fried beef with rice, but without the beef, the meal is super fine and the price is high. Very disappointed on my first visit.
Ive eaten there twice and it was good, but I wont go there again. The service attitude, which Im from Canada, can be described as rubbish. - I talked to two people when I came in, and then they pointed me to a certain restaurant, and neither of us even responded. Sit down, another staff member took the two menus from a distance to the table, and then fell to the ground. The girl turned around and walked to the left without even looking up. She was really confused, so we decided to leave. Alas, another Asian lady at the door said the food was not good? I asked a staff member to grab this menu and order some food underground! There are people in the food industry who really influence the sun and are rubbish

There were hairs in the fried rice and it was too oily. I had diarrhea after eating it. There was hair in my fired rice. The cooking oil was stinky, my friend got sick after that.
-Rude staff didnt bother suggesting other dishes or substitutes of sold out dishes or ingredients. No eye contact just seemed annoyed -too much msg -asked for more tips -small portions -Black bits in food possibly from chef not cleaning wok properly I would giver zero stars If i could. Never ever going back.

There were only two fish left in the restaurant. The fish we ordered first turned out to be given to someone else, and they didnt tell us until we had been waiting for more than half an hour. Will not be returning. In addition, even though our table ordered the first dish, they came over after we waited for half an hour and said the fish was gone. Then I asked him where the chicken was. They said they were doing it, but obviously they missed the order! Because the people next to us arrived later than us and ordered later, then all their dishes were served and half of them were eaten. I really don t want to go to this restaurant again

HORRIBLE. DO NOT COME HERE. First of all, we were going as a family, when we walked in there was a woman there who was cleaning a table, I don t know why she started rolling her eyes, even though we didn t say anything to her and were just waiting, but she seemed very annoyed. When ordering, another woman came to us and AGAIN started rolling her eyes, and didn t seem happy or caring to help us. Second of all, we still gave them a 15% tip after finishing when paying the bill. I understand that waiters mainly rely on tips to live well in life, hence why I still gave them 15% tip. I don t know why all the waitresses in this restaurant seem all unhappy, not caring, and unwilling to provide decent customer service. I suggest the owner to look over these major issues and fix these before things get messy. Third, the food is okay but the portions are TINY, very small portions with a normal taste you d get anywhere else. Finally, when paying the bill, I noticed that the receipt s store name DID NOT MATCH the store s outfront sign name, which is absurd and outrageous. WILL NEVER COME BACK.

Worst Chinese restaurant Ive ever been to. People there are rude, and they make it very clear that you are not welcomed. Food are terrible. I wonder how could they stay in business.

The food was so-so, and I shouldn t have been misled by high-rated Google reviews. The pot of eggplant with garlic sauce was dripping with oil.. so greasy.. it was so terrible that a bowl of rice had to be ordered separately for 2.5. Seriously!? At the end the servers were looking at us with despise of our tips!
Don t visit this place ever. The food especially pots and fried rice were small sized, oily and salty. The servers were not caring and rude to us. How many times did I wave my hands to start my order!? Food was overpriced. There is a plethora of quality food options in the First Markham Place, so I won t ever return to this:)
Most underrated hidden gem in all of Markham. It looks like a hole in the wall but they offer some of the best chinese food ever. Must try dishes are the following....salted baked chicken thighs, steamed pork with squid, and their deep fried eggplants. Great pricing and super nice staff (not sure if they speak much eng)

If you care about hygiene, this restaurant is not hygienic. The portions are not big. I ordered the recommended shredded chicken, pork ribs, bacon and eggplant stew, and a fish soup. Because the fish head soup is added with Angelica dahurica, it is very bitter... How should I put it? Overall, I think its okay, but my teammates said it was not delicious.

This place used to have decent quality Cantonese dishes with reasonable prices (pre-pandemic). We recently had their sweet and sour pork and it was all fatty meat, and their portions have gotten significantly smaller - which makes their prices not reasonable for the quality and portion you get. Unfortunately we will likely not be returning.
I ordered noodle dish and beef stew, both are under-cooked. There were small pieces of beef in the pot along with Chinese radish. So ridiculous. Will never come back!
Excellent place for food
Loved the food here. Tasty and good portions. The duck and bbq was sold out, so that speaks to the popularity of the place. We will return soon for trying out other dishes. I know many are complaining about the food prices going up here, but with inflation going up, I dont blame them. Lets support local restaurants and businesses.
Recommended by a friend years ago. Never disappointed. All dishes are spot on.

This place offers some traditional canton & Taishanese foods. The price is affordable. My favorite foods are the salty roasted chicken & steam chicken, minced pork...etc. Many restaurants did better b4 the pandemic. Due to inflation, many restaurants are hard to maintain the food quality & price. Therefore, the foods there are still okay according to the price. The restaurant is kind of a family small business, pls dont expect it can keep as clean as the big restaurants.

This place shouldn t be called Ah Wei Kitchen, it should be called Suo Hi Kitchen. It tastes terrible. Order pork belly chicken, and they put sauerkraut in it, which makes it taste spicy and sour. And that salted fish and tofu stew, right? Your uncle Wori, it has no taste at all. Believe me, it will taste better if you make it at home. In short, any meal you can buy next door will taste better than theirs. I really can t believe that someone with this level of skills is still opening a store. Really, I should just go home and farm. Those who gave good reviews probably have a problem with their taste.

Really like this little place. Good food and good price. Causal atmosphere. Most dishes are quiteite tasty. Smaller portions which matches the price. I go there frequently. If you order off the menu make sure you ask for the price first.

The stew soup is good, but once I went there, the chicken in the hot dish was not overcooked, so I havent been there for a long time, but its good quality and cheap, so you can eat whatever you want.

Very nice home styled food
This restaurant is a little run down; however, it does exhibit some sort of homey charm. We just ordered the combo A with four dishes. The sweet and sour fried pork cubes is one of my favourite dishes, so nothing wrong with that. The chicken dish was amazing with deep chicken flavour since it was free run chicken. The stir fried beef with mushroom was just cooked with the correct doneness. The bok choy with garlic was really fresh with a slight vegetable sweetness. It was just a well done meal and we had sweet potato soup as a complimentary dessert. The staffs were also attentive and friendly. A good place to be if you are craving for some Cantonese dishes.
The place could really be kept cleaner. The floor is filthy and it makes you wonder about the kitchen... The food is just OK. Lots of traditional home style Cantonese dishes.

Anyone out there looking for an authentic chinese experience at budget rates, with excellent service gotto chk this place out. The food was just great. Loved their beef amd mushroom and the roast chicken dish. The green bean with minced meat was just too good. The salty crispy bean was divine and worth dying for. The staff there were so sweet and welcoming. Service was excellent. Will always hit this spot.
Best dried salty fish and pork patty in town with an abundant of salty dried fish favour and just the right yield and bounce texture with the flavour in the meat patty for only $6.99 during lunch special including chinese soup and hot drink. Great salt and pepper whole chicken leg. Will try the steam boil soup next time.
Food: 5 out of 5, love their food. It kinda remind me of home cooking. Especially how my grandma make those dishes. Ambience: 3.4 out 5, they have upgraded their tables and chairs 2 years ago. Its a clean restaurant, nothing fancy. Service: 4 out of 5, service is there but theres always room for improvement. Price: 4 out of 5, its pretty cheap. However, their portion have shrunk a little, as they dont wanna charge too much. Overall: 5 out of 5. Its their food that makes it right. And its pretty healthy compare to other places. Dont forget their soup. Soup you have to order separately are the high quality one. Definitely a family restaurant. During weekend its pretty packed.

Ordered congee and found the pork was not fresh, complained and the server was not responsive at all, later on got a stomach arch which Im not sure if its related. Some dishes tasted good but services were not satisfactory.
