Pork souvlaki, fried calamari & roasted lamb shanks are on the menu at this simple Greek restaurant.
Decided to give this place a 2nd try after two years and ordered take out. Quite pricey and food quality was not that good. Also don't think the waitress is too much into customer service
One of the best Greek food in town. Cool owner, Javed is super nice and friendly I loved their foods so many choices to pick from and I love their chicken Souvlaki so moist and juicy. Yum😋😋😋👍👍👍 I highly recommend you to try 😉
First time trying this place. Clean, and spacious. We ordered the following: 1. Chicken souvlaki with fries and rice 2. Lamb souvlaki with fries and rice Both orders include a salad, and garlic bread. Chicken and lamb was soft and juicy. You can tell they took effort and time to make a good meal. Friendly staff, great service. Would definitely return.
Loui's has been in the neighbourhood as far back as I can remember. Used to frequent it quite often but went back recently for the first time in years. Overall the food was decent, and is honestly one of the better Greek restaurants in the area. For just over $20 you can get 3 skewers of pork souvlaki with a Greek salad and a side, and if you're a little less hungry you can get a meat on a pita for ~$13. Service was great, our waitress was very pleasant and kind. In terms of the atmosphere, I'd like to suggest getting some sort of fly zapper installed, because there were some flies flying around that were becoming a real nuisance, and from what I saw in other reviews this is a pretty common occurrence.
I was a frequent customer at this establishment. Never again. The extremely unprofessional, disrespectful and rude front desk lady makes the entire interaction a difficult hassle. I ordered the pasta only to be served a dry mess. I called and complained while the lady said “it’s just how it’s made” and offered no solution or any apology. I’ve ordered this dish over 10 times I think I would know how it’s supposed to be made. Shameful. Get better staff. Won’t be returning.
Out go-to Greek place. Love the gyros. I typically replace the sides with vegetables. Service is typically good. The place is a bit small but could get parties of 8 if you book ahead.
I had the lamb chops served with a side of potatoes and vegetables and it was great. The lamb was prepared excellently and the sides were also very scrumptious. The portion size was also very generous. I would recommend also getting the Greek fries for a crispy side dish.
Whenever I crave Greek I crave this place! Made to order meat, succulent, and delicious! Their pork is my favorite, has the right amount of fat! Prices are reasonable too, I believe ownership changed a few years ago, but the cooks appear to be the same, so the food is still top notch. We've been going for years! I give them 9/10!
Amazing food and great portions!
Great food and service. Restaurent is full during lunch time
Delicious Greek foods. Unfortunately, some flies flying around the dining area.
The steak meal was delicious! So juicy!
Rude staff.
The food is delicious, generous, very nice flavours and they give you garlic bread to start.
They should stop selling the gyro here.... they not real...other food looks ok..
Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair parking in front. Entrance and washrooms accessible. There is no ramp directly in front. Food
Great food, very satisfied with the service. Would highly recommend.
6 pcs of super dry chicken with minimal seasoned potato and rice for $30 and that is considered their large platter! I do not mind paying around that much for a meal at all as long as it s fresh, flavourful and not hard as rock. Avoid this place, see picture for the appearance and size of the chicken pcs.
This was our first time here. Great family and kids friendly atmosphere. Food and service was great too. This place will be one of our go to places to eat out.
Used to eat here all the time when I lived in the area years ago. Happy to see that the place and food has not changed at all - still the best Greek food by far in the area. Service was also awesome. Came in at lunch and asked how long it was going take. Without my asking, the woman who took my order asked the chef to rush the order. Not necessary, but was very considerate. My only complaint and reason for not giving 5 stars is that they are soooo frugal with the tzatziki - and always have been. When you pay $25 for a takeout lunch you don t expect to pay 1.50 for 2 tablespoons of a condiment that consists of yoghurt, cucumber, garlic, lemon juice and . dill? You get the same amount no matter what size you order. Another man that was eating in the restaurant had to ask for more while I waited for my order too. C mon guys - stop charging for a little extra sauce or at least give proper size portions. Those 1 oz containers are a joke
Excellent, but small greek restaurant right in Markham. You can get your favourites here - souvlaki, gyro, greek dessert. Definitely worth a visit.
Small place in a strip mall- too pricey for its food ..slouvakis come with one strip only and too many fries and salad, a lot of food but not a balanced meal Spanacopitas are tasty Recommended dishes
I have to be honest this review should have been done earlier. My wife and I periodically order from here whenever we have family get-togethers and Greek food is on everyones mind. They have never disappointed in choices, portions and flavour. The reason I am just posting this is because of a so called Greek take-out place located in the immediate vicinity of yonge st and king st Richmond Hill. Today they reminded me why places like Louis Kouzina are worth giving 5 stars.
TLDR: The platters are a great value for three people, but a must need side dish will cost an additional $5. Regarding the appetizers, The Trio, which contains three sauces - hummus, tzatziki, and chickpea - was unique and had a sweet taste. The tzatziki was particularly good and was the highlight of the meal. However, the spinach pie was disappointing and not as good as what Ive had from other places. Moving on to the entrees, the gyros were excellent with a great balance of spices and the tzatziki sauce. It had a flavor similar to Chinese lap cheong sausages. The lamb chops were good, but I mistook them for steak due to the lack of bones. The gaminess was still present but the spices helped to cover it up. The pork slavosky was standard and nothing particularly noteworthy. On the downside, the chicken was dry and lacked any chicken flavor. It tasted more like tzatziki sauce than actual chicken. The quail was hard and dry, and frankly, not edible. Additionally, we ordered a side dish which cost $5 for a small plate, but it was good value for money.
The Pikilia platter was awesome! Great service!
Great place for families. Everyone enjoyed their meal, big portions, fast and friendly service and reasonable price.
Family business with good quality of foods.
Best in Markham.
Great food. Has become a bit pricey. The pork souvlaki is always well prepared.
Unbelievably disappointed in the food and service here... if you like bland unseasoned and overpriced food youve got the right place, as an added bonus the staff will show you zero respect!
Food was very expensive for the portion you get. As well as the food tasted not fresh. Wouldnt recommend this place to anybody. Might as well go to Jimmy the Greek for half the price.
Great food, great value and portions are more than enough. My go-to items are lentil soup and the vegetable plate and I can honestly say Ive never been let down. Vegetarian options: There are a few vegetarian options and they wont add feta cheese on the salad if you ask. Parking: Lots of parking in a large plaza.
Excellent greek food!
Good service and food.
I had a truly awful experience at this restaurant. The pork souvlaki was completely burnt and should never have been served in the first place. When we asked for a replacement, they brought back something even more burnt! The pita bread felt like it had been sitting around for a week; it was stale and chewy. The tzatziki sauce was watered down to the point of being flavorless. To top it all off, the owner was incredibly rude. He threatened to call the police when we refused to pay for this terrible food and had the audacity to call us broke for leaving only a 20 percent tip. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone.
Did not know there was such Greek restaurant in this neighborhood.
Excellent, always fresh!
Loved everything about this place
Service is great and we all like the complimentary desserts which comes with a choice of three. Its a great dinner
They don t pick up the phone, how do you expect people to order take out?
Gave my 1st try to this place since the review is outstanding. We ordered a large meal that was about $29 after tax. Food was mediocre, portion is definitely smaller than I expected. Fries don t seem to be fresh. I hate to say we love to go to jimmy s the Greek at Markville mall, but this time we like to try some small businesses, but got disappointed. Cashier lady was sweet and nice tho.
Bad customer service!! Server don t even smile. Doesn t even seem like she wants to be there food is alright I guess
Food is good but the service lacked pizzazz. No smile, no personality Overall would not return Very overpriced!!!!! Food : 4/5 |
The Restaurant the food is nothing close to Greek 7
Excellent food at reasonable prices. Great service
Mediocre food! Mediocre place & Mediocre service. Definitely my first & last time to eat here!
Fast n friendly service.
I chose pork souvlaki on a bun and it was generally good, but the pork pieces are somewhat on the small side and a little chewy; its hard to find good pork souvlaki. The tzatziki was actually quite good, which is something that I find can be a real hit or miss item. Ill visit again but next time itll be the chicken souvlaki or gyro in a pita. **Update: After another visit, I had the small plate chicken souvlaki with the roasted potatoes. The chicken was tender and flavourful, the potatoes could use more salt and pepper, but overall the food was good and the serving is quite large, excellent value for the money. Ive upgraded my review to four stars.
Delicious food and friendly staff.
I absolutely love this place! Best Greek food on the planet. Great prices, great food and amazing service! Servers are super friendly! Two thumbs way up
overall very nice restaurant. everyone is friendly and the paintings somehow make me feel like Im sitting in greece. good food and large portions.
Great food and service! (Catered)
Very underwhelming place, but the food and service are spectacular. We ordered the kebab wraps, they were fresh, simple, yet very satisfying.
Just delicious. Very fresh and tasty.
My go-to restaurant for Greek cravings in Markham. The chicken souvlaki and Greek salad are my favourite!
Good service. Good was okay.
A small nice Greek restaurant in the neighbourhood, serving all the Greek favourites, Greek Salad, souvlaki, gyro, Calamari, Moussaka, etc. Family run with great prompt service, popular with take-outs.
Had the traditional Chicken Souvlaki dinner. Not too many Greek restaurants I run into that it serves such a well-seasoned delicious meal. Rice was on point, chicken was still tender and not dry, and the Greek salad of course was also very tasty. Would highly recommend if you like Greek food in your in the area
Very nice little restaurant, we ordered chicken souflaki and lamb it wad deleeesh The girls who served us very pleasant as well. 5stars Parking: Its on the Plaza, so there plenty of parking
My absolute favourite restaurant! My family and I have been going here for years. Even now that we live north, I still make the hour drive just for their delicious Greek food. I couldn t recommend this place more!!!
An unparalleled local delicacy. I am a true fan of the whole package, from menu to food quality to portion sizes. Nowadays, service is less of an issue, but Louis has never disappointed in the past. As a bonus, their food is almost as amazing as takeout as it is dine-in!
Great prices, lots of food, gyro and pork souvlaki was tasty and juicy
These pictures are from a pre-covid dining experience but I have also purchased takeout from them a few times during the pandemic as well! I really liked going here with my coworkers when I used to work nearby because the pottions served here are HUGE -[TARAMOSALATA] $7.50 It looks like a pink paste/goo haha but dont be scared! The reason for its color is because it is made out of a blended combination of red fish roe, extra virgin oil, garlic, and lemon juice! It is also served with grilled pita slices This is definitely a saltier dish that they serve but I honestly love how much of the taramosalata that they give! I love spreading it on a freshly toasted piece of bread -[CHICKEN SOUVLAKI-SMALL PLATE] $14.50 So THIS is the small plate but I am 99% sure I was unable to finish this in one sitting because of the aforementioned large portions! Comes with TWO skewers of chicken souvlaki, a greek salad and your choice of one of the following: fries, mixed vegetables, rice, or roasted potatoes! (I highly recommend their roasted potatoes ) They are extremely flavorful and just warm me right up when I eat them Definitely give this place a try if youre looking for delicious Greek food for a good price
Amazingly good Greek food. Their souvlaki is done very well. The chicken is soft and juicy and not hard and dry like so many other places Ive had souvlaki. Also loved their Greek fries and the salad was so fresh and refreshing. The portions are good This is an amazing Greek restaurant. Love it
Im not sure if anything changed due to being takeout only, but our most recent experience here was very underwhelming and overpriced. The pork souvlaki and calamari were decent, but the chicken souvlaki was very dry. The portion sizes are definitely not worth the prices either. They also gave us buttered hot dog buns which we were not sure if they were extras or because they ran out of the more typical pita. To top it all off, we also asked for an extra small bowl or container to split the food, and were told no because the containers are very expensive.
Received nasty smelling calamari and it was undercooked in some areas while burnt in other areas. The vegetables taste atrocious, and even though I used to love eating at this place with my family back when you could eat inside the restaurant, they still occasionally served the calamari under cooked. Shame they couldnt properly cleanse and purify the calamari before properly cooking it instead offering disgusting and repulsive food.
dat chicken souvlaki sandwhich!! always on point. Their greek salad is a disappointment though
Great local and authentic Greek food.Food is always hot and yummy. Staff are always friendly.
Great tasting food and good service. Even though the owners have changed the quality has been maintained!!
Im a long time customer and placed a take out order for a small chicken souvlaki plate today. I was SO disappointed when I got home and opened it up! Their portion sizes always included two full skewers pre-pandemic and mine looked like half a skewer of chicken! The plate isnt cheap either, and I cant justify spending 16.99 over a huge serving of fries with very little chicken. Super disappointing!! I always loved coming here for a great sized portion. I cant help but feel ripped off.
Fast service good food.
Small plates are delicious here ! I would recommend this if you are hungry ! Portions are well sized at the price. My go to place for souvlaki dinner around the area. Very home style. A++.
Establishment has really gone downhill over the last few years. Used to be a great spot in the city to get greek food. Now half the pork souvlakis I get are poor in quality and size and the price continues to go up. On top of that you cant even call them to pick up anymore. They never pick up. Really disappointing considering how often I used to go there. Terrible management.
If you are in the mood to get ripped off please go to to this restaurant 10.75 for a chicken sandwich with 4 pieces. Bruhhhhhhhhhhh i was so disappointed.
Fresh calamari, amazing hummus, great souvlaki. Generous portions. Will return.
A little pricy considering the portion size but overall a good experience. I ordered grilled salmon with rice & veggies. Salmon was cooked well (juicy) but the cooked carrots and veggies were chewy; I guess they were cooked from frozen. The lettuce salad was good.
Delicious food and friendly atmosphere
Great food. Worth repeat visits.
One of the best greek food I ever tasted. They are really generous with the portions too. You can t go wrong with this place if you re in a pickle deciding on what to eat.
Excellent service and great food.
Great service & great food! Will come here again!
Delicious! My go-to is the pork souvlaki small plate.
Our go to souvlaki place, excellent for dine in and takeout. I prefer the pork souvlaki, but the gyro and chicken is good as well.
Easily beats out most of the Danforth. Havent tasted pork souvlaki this good since Corfu. Looking forward to trying the lamb next time.
Great food......awesome service.......the place needs a bit of an update in my opinion
Great food, great service, causal atmosphere and reasonable prices.
Loved the atmosphere and the food
Gyro was really good, salad seemed soft an old
How excellent the food is here - I always get the Gyros Pita and they are more generous with the Gyro if you dine in! You cant go wrong with a Traditional Village Salad too! Come early to ensure seating at lunch, and I hear that you can call for a reservation if you are a group of 6 persons.
Excellent food, friendly staff, reasonable prices. This is the perfect place for good Greek food.
Has to be my favourite Greek food place ever. Friendly staff, great size portions. Love the greek salad dressing. The chicken in a pitas and pork souvlaki dinner are always a hit in our house. See you soon
Good fast take out spot for Greek. Quail and gyros are pretty good
Great food. Good prices.
My favorite restaurant in the area. Even, with the strange times we are living. I go there to support the business, but also because their quality and service always has been wonderfully given. Please support this business...you wont be disappointed!
Food is great! Love it when greek food cravings hit
Ate here once, wasn t memorable but it s the only greek food in the area and it wasn t bad either.
Nice place, will come back soon
At here a couple of months ago and took out tonight. Both meals were amazing ! Keep up the great food and look forward to eating in again one day!
I ve ordered from this restaurant many times (catering and regular take out). The food is great but they are stingy with the tzatziki. We ordered a few platters for a party (for ten people) and they gave me an individual sized portion of tzatziki you would normally get for a small souvlaki dinner for one. Asked why the sauce is so small and got charged extra for an extra sauce. Today, I order two large souvlaki dinners and got a small tzatziki again. I like their food but they need to seriously reconsider giving more sauce as it costs pennies to them.
Delicious and authentic Greek food. I usually get the chicken or lamb souvlaki along with the lamb shank plate for the family. Only issue is that it is quite overpriced and they charge $1 for a small amount of tzaziki. I think you would have people coming more often if you had deals or lowered prices a bit
Could be better.
I always ordered my food through nr greek but i decided to try this restaurant i bought chicken suvlaki dinner and the food was really good The service was great
Ordered Chicken souvlaki with rice for take out. Chicken is a bit dry but like their rice. Quick service too.
Excellent food - great value - always consistent - highly recommend
We come here often for the Grilled Calamari and the Lamb Souvlaki. Bonus: complimentary garlic bread is awesome!
Their souvlaki are very tasty. Quality and quantity are always consistent.
I have been coming to this place for the last 5+ years.Authentic Greek food, local family owned vibe, wonderful and consistent service. Never failed me! Quick service for take out or eating in
Super tasty and fresh, its so hard to find good, authentic Greek food! Slightly pricy but the portions are good.
My go-to place for authentic Greek cuisine in Markham. Ive been coming here for years, whether dining in, or just grabbing a quick pork souvlaki on a bun greek-style. Delicious, consistent, reasonably priced, and super friendly staff.
Good food
Good greek food. Love their sauce on the rice and their gyro
Good service, good food, good prices!
My favorite Greek restaurant in the GTA
Never had a bad meal here, been eating there your years.
Friendly staff and good food. Not much to be said!
If you are looking for fresh off the grill Greek food then you are in for a treat. Many places precook their food then throw it on the grill to warm it up. Thats not what they do here. They start to cook it when you order. Its takes a bit longer but well worth the wait. Friendly staff, portions are generous and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend.
Great place to grab lunch, its quite small and they dont take reservations so get there early, Ive had both the small Gyro and Pork Sovlaki and theyre perfectly sized for lunch and taste amazing
This is a nice place for Greek food. Best value and delicious. The grilled octopus is outstanding. We love the pork souvlaki.
Full disclosure; I am not the biggest fan of Greek food. With that said, here, we, GO! Loui s Kouzina is a relaxed environment Greek restaurant located in the plaza at Woodbine and 16th Avenue in Markham. In step with the Greek theme, much of the decor features bold Greek blue and white colours. The feel of the space is brightened, literally, by the welcome amount of natural light that flows in. These guys have been in the area since 2008, so they must be doing something right. To be honest, my favourite item to get here is their trio dip appetizer. Youll be served several slices of fresh nan with which you can scoop up tzatziki, hummus, or taramosalata. Taramosalata is a blend of red fish roe, extra virgin olive oil, garlic, and lemon juice. There is nothing mind blowing about this dish, but for me, the flavours are relatively simple, while at the same time vibrant. Its a great way to get me on board! My personal favourite is the taramosalata :) I also tend to get the small pork souvlaki. All of their small plates are served with salad, tzatziki, and one of: fries, assorted vegetables, rice, or roasted potatoes. In general, this restaurant aims to please with simple ingredients, which is highlighted by these two dishes. To their credit, Ive always been satisfied eating here, and Im sure you would be too. Dont expect life changing flavours, but do expect quality.
This place is a hidden gem. You would never even know one of the best Greek restaurants in the GTA is nestled in where it is. You have to check these guys out. Good prices and the food is excellent quality. The home made tzatziki is killer.
This restaurant tends to be busy. Food is delicious. Short wait times to be served.
Delicious Greek food
Great spot for lunch or dinner.
If you re in the area and craving Greek food, I recommend coming here. This restaurant is easily walked by and missed, but it s great. The food is always cooked fresh and is consistent while the staff is friendly. I always get the chicken souvlaki plate and I m never disappointed with either the portions or taste. The restaurant is small and has a bit of a wait if you come during busy time. Luckily you can do take out as well.
Food was....alright. We ordered lunch for the office on a Friday. We called in our order and food was prepared quickly. The portion sizes were massive and matched the higher than average price($15.77), but the quality of food wasnt....amazing. I got the small gyro plate with potatoes. The plate contained a lot of meat, but it was a bit dry. This was the complete opposite of the Greek salad which was extremely soggy. I heard a lot of hype over the potatoes, but they didnt measure up to its name. Sorry to say that the best part of the meal was the hot dog bun garlic bread that came on the side. Overall, it wasnt my favourite place for Greek food. Might return one day to give it a second chance, but probably not anytime soon.
Clean and pleasant
Good food. Good service. Cant complain.
Great food and service, the Souvlaki was tasty. Just wish there was more of it!
Very friendly staff and excellent Greek food
food is delicious, vibe is ok and service is a little too slow
Great food
Delicious moussaka and Greek food!! Awesome local spot :)
Great food. Portions are generous. Made to order. They always get orders right despite customization during their busiest time.
Best Greek food in York Region and very affordable
Fresh meal....Clean restaurant..
Really good pork souvlaki
Fresh food
Great food, friendly service.
This place seems to have new owners. The food went downhill. Another place to cross off our list.
It used to be the best Greek place nearby until Astoria opened up a little further north. Overall, food is great, love their lamb and grilled octopus!
I only ordered fish and chips, and it was very good. Fish is fresh, crispy, fry is hot and crispy, the sause is tasty. I am really happy about it I just wish if I could have taken a picture and show you.
Food is great with reasonable price
Went in for lunch.. seemed pretty busy.. got the large chicken soulavki plate.. Greek salad n two sides.. I got the potatos n rice .. the diff vs small plate is one more side n supposedly 50% more meat... Comparing to others in my party it seems like it probably wasnt that much more meat.. Sides were all fine.. Chicken leaned more on the dry side.. but was acceptable.. Overall my meal was ok.. nothing stood out.. My coworker had small pork plate.. a few pieces of pork was way over cooked n not edible.. Also got the trio and sagnaki... Both were again fine.. but nothing exceptional... Decent opt for Greek food in the area.. just nothing remarkable..
Not so spectacular
Yummy food as always..service was good..waitress smiling would be a bad thing
I seriously love this place! Delicious, simple and very comfortable!
excellent experience amazing food and awesome service
Great food and service
GYRO is delicious and not over salted like most places. Salad was fresh and they use good quality feta cheese
Fresh food, fast service really nice place
Tasty Greek. Good for a quick bite or for a sit.
Delicious
Really good Greek food! The Gyro is awesome.
Calamari here are very very good!
Delicious food, clean and wonderful atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and will come back for sure.
I havent had a great Greek Souvlaki on a bun as good as Louis Kouzina for such a long long time! The trio appetizer is a must! My two friends from Mexico have never had Souvlaki just loved it and everything else they had! They were so impressed with the restaurant and one of the best meals theyve had since being in Toronto since June this year! Well be going back soon! Love it!!!
Amazing food quality and portioning is good. A bit pricey.
Great service and delicious food! Will definitely be back. Absolutely love the Greek salad!
Delicious, fresh Greek food. Family owned with excellent service. Good for dine-in or takeout. Edit: owners have changed, not as good anymore. From 5 to 3 stars.
