This a little small restaurant with always line up. It opens at 11 am and people are already lining up at 10:50am. My go to is the hainanese chicken with is highly recommended, the chicken is very juicy and the rice is very fragrant. I had a pineapple bun with butter which was also very fragrant and delicious. The pork and chicken with black pepper sauce was average but the portions and price for all the items are very reasonable. The milk tea is average, I think the selling item at this restaurant is the hainanese chicken.

Always huge lineups but well worth the wait. One of few places in town that has amazing Hainan chicken rice and authentic HK cafe style food, all at affordable prices.

It was a very disgusting dining experience. First of all, when the meal was served, I felt something was off. Did they not have quality control for their dishes? The rice was scattered, the chicken was messy, and the cucumber was dry. I looked up and saw that the servers were all busy, so I didn't ask for a replacement because I had eaten here before and had a great experience. But as I continued to eat, I realized that it wasn't as good as it used to be. And just as I finished my meal and was enjoying my iced lemon tea, one of the servers threw my bill on the table without any explanation. I didn't ask for the bill because my tea was still unfinished, but she didn't offer any explanation and walked away. When I paid for my meal, they gave me change, but I didn't have time to pick it up before she almost took away all the remaining change. I thought their service was very poor, so I left a 10 cents tip and left. Then their service staff came out and said that delivery orders did not need a tip, but dine-in orders did. I explained that the reason I was not tipping was because of their poor service. Before I had even asked for the bill, they had slammed it on the table, and without my permission, they had pushed another table up against mine. You could have explained that each table has a certain dining time, and that there were many people waiting outside, in which case I would have asked for my bill to be brought to me, rather than having it slammed in front of me. I am not tipping because of the poor service, not the quality of the food. And by the way, the quality of the food was also poor. And your service staff did not provide good service to me while I was eating, if not completely no service. She just put the food in front of me and had a bad attitude. I don't know what her attitude was like when I left the restaurant. She said that I should never set foot in the restaurant again. Don't worry, I won't be coming back. I gave 20% tip at Cafe De Hong Kong yesterday. That's where I'll be from now on. The service there is good, and there is quality control. It makes me feel like a restaurant should have an attitude. They deserve every penny. And you are worth nothing. Your restaurant deserves only one star, if possible, I would even like to give it a negative rating. The extra two stars are awarded to the previous version of your restaurant.

We came at 4pm on Friday, got seated after 5 mins. Everything we ordered was great, but the food waiting time was quite long, as i observed they have many takeaways. ✨ Highlights: Hainanese Chicken Rice, Beef Brisket with Curry on Rice, Iced lemon tea The shop is tiny with only 22 seats, so be prepared to queue at busy hours.

This is a small Hong Konh cafe but the food is great. Very close to HK style and their Hainan Chicken rice is worth the wait. If you don't want to wait, order take out, reheat is not a bad option.

Ordered take out from here and perhaps its not a good gauge of its quality but I was disappointed with the results. First, the positives: the cold lemon tea was very good, not too sweet and very lemony. And the chicken in my rice casserole dish was cooked very well and the flavour of the tomato sauce was very good (I don't like it when its too tinny or too ketchup-ee flavoured). Here's where the dishes went wrong: 1) the HK steamed rice rolls and the fish siu mai where hard and tough in texture, it wasn't steamed well and did not have the nice, soft, bouncy chew. 2) the HK egg sandwich was just sad....there was hardly any egg in it. 3) the baked chicken with fried rice and tomato sauce was the best dish of the order especially since the rice was actually fried and had egg and corn but I did not like it was very clumpy, like it wasn't properly mixed before being baked. And there was one very lonely, sad slice of cucumber that was very soggy and just didn't need to be added to the dish. Fresh, diced tomatoes were added to the top as well and I could pass on that as well as it didn't add anything to the dish. The satay beef noodle soup was alright too but nothing to rave about. This place is incredibly busy though but I think its because the portion sizes are decent and the price is very affordable. 2 mains, 2 sides and 2 drinks came to $35. I wouldn't NOT come back here but I also wouldn't go out of my way to come back here either.

Yummy HK food, you’ll find all your standard HK fare. It’s a no-fuss restaurant, very small space - love the feel of it. The pineapple bun burgers are delicious, easily my favourite thing we tried. The French toast is perfectly done, crispy as it should be. All the sauces in the dishes we ordered were delicious, the meats & eggs were done perfectly. And of course, the Hainan chicken & rice is delicious. It even sells out many days! Service is fast, but because the space is so small, you may have to wait for seats. Food comes with a drink.

The service attitude is unacceptable. Lao Feng wants you to give us tips. He feels that you are not giving enough and will chase you out of the restaurant. Unacceptable customer service, not allowed to leave the restaurant unless fulfilled the amount of tips desired by the greedy waitress that barely serve you. Would not recommend this restaurant

Ive been to this cafe a few times and food was always good except for today. Im giving it 4 stars because, most of the time they do really well. I used to love their Hainanese chicken rice dish but today it seems like theres less chicken and it just looks kinda sad. One staff member (older auntie) was honestly so rude. Ive seen my fair share of Cantonese servers, she takes the cake. The other staff member (younger woman) was super nice, which is why I didnt want to leave this review with less stars. One of the dishes we ordered took super long, and when we asked about it, the older woman just said its steaming and stormed off. After a long time, it still never came, and their excuse was it takes 20 min. It was 20 min....anyways we said no need, cancel order...like cmon (we know you forgot). I really think this place has potential and one off day is fine. But that aunties attitude needs to change. My parents will not come back, but Im happy to order takeout. Hope theres improvement in the future.

2024 October 3.5 A. $11.49 S3 $7.25 Still pretty good. Pricewise still very competitive. Was a bit disappointed with the BBQ pork this time as it lacked flavors.. almost looked store bought. November 2021. 4 Continues to be a great option for HK style dishes. New menu options recently added. Decently priced. The BBQ pork with beef omelet with rice was very good. The egg was done well and the beef and pork were tender. The Baked pork chop and chicken steak with black pepper on tomato sauce on fried rice was also good with melted cheese on top. With a drink under $10 its a great deal. November 2020. 4 The molten salted duck egg sandwich was great. The milk tea was good too. Their appetizer was good with the exception of the siu mai which was so so.. the fish paste wasnt springy enough. The place itself is very small. About 7 tables or about 25 seats. Price was ok. Worth going for a visit.

I have eaten at this restaurant several times, and I have also tried other restaurants. I always like the Hainanese chicken rice in this restaurant the most. Boneless Hainanese chicken rice is delicious with meat. I have to give credit to the chef in the kitchen for making the chicken meat not too soupy but still tender and smooth. Although the restaurant space is small, it is the characteristic of Hong Kong teahouses. The space is small and the taste is good. Special praise to the ordering lady, she can remember the food ordered by each customer without using paper and pen, and cleans the table very quickly, even though there are so many people waiting for her table every day. Of course, there wont be the service of a five-star hotel here, because it will always be an ordinary restaurant. The only drawback is the limited parking spaces in the parking lot. There is such a friendly service attitude in Hong Kong, if you understand what I am talking about . Milk tea and lemon tea are both OK. It smells like tea. The Hainanese chicken is OK, but the fried rice is just missing. Some rice may have too much water, making it too chewy. Hainanese chicken rice does not come with chicken soup. The curry sauce for the curry pork chop is thick enough. The pork chops are evenly fat and lean and delicious. I didn t know that the pineapple oil was freshly baked, and it tasted like a tinge of heat when eaten, and the bottom of the bun was dry. But the taste is okay. All in all, its acceptable. The price is very affordable. A meal costs $11 to $12 for a hot drink, and $1.25 for cold drinks. It s so hard to find today. come on

Pineapple oil (Skin is crispy. Dough is soft and waxy Hainan Chicken Rice (The chicken is very tender and tasty. The rice is very fragrant Onion and Ginger Chicken Liquid Toast (I was worried that there would be too much liquid, but as long as I carefully wrap every bite of Western Toast, it will be just right in the end. The Western Toast is fried beautifully, and the outside is thin The layer is a bit bland, and it would be nice to have more flavor. It s very greasy after one portion. Pork Chop Crispy Bun (Pork chop is okay. Bread is average. Sauce is too little. Overall too dry. Swiss chicken wings and cheese noodles (Swiss sauce is not flavorful and not rich enough. This is my kind of HK cafe. Good service, super tasty food without breaking the bank. Their hainanese chicken is probably one of the best I have had and that includes trying it in Singapore and HK. I find too many HK restaurants are focused on the look of the food and to make it IG ready (you know who you are!) and they forgot about the most important thing: Flavour! Our favourite Hong Kong restaurant so far! The restaurant is relatively small, hence not many seats, we had to wait for maybe 10-15 mins before we were able to get a table. There is a book at the entrance where you could write down your own name and number of pax. It was the first time we went, so luckily there was a couple kind enough to tell us, as we thought people were just standing outside and waiting to be called. It was so difficult to choose what to order, we ended up having baked pork chop rice, one with tomato sauce the classic, another one with curry sauce. Omg they both are so good, seriously no joke. Apparently the hainanese chicken rice is also one of their specialty, almost every other table has that dish. Staff is super friendly and patient, made suggestions and recommendations. Would definitely go back and recommend anyone who hasn t tried it to go try it!

If youre looking for an authentic HK cafe that is affordable without all the bells and whistles, this is it. It might be hard to get a table during peak hours but its for a good reason. The hainanese chicken rice is the most legit thing ever. The French toast is also amazing. I only had a picture of the French toast because I ate my rice the moment it landed on my table. The food was so good that my eyes were just rolled to the back of my head every bite. I updated this review based on my recent visits. This place is very small with limited seatings. It seems to be very busy most of the time so expect to wait. From what I saw, most customers orders either the Hainanese Chicken with rice or the Curry Beef brisket, which I love. Except sometimes the beef brisket has nearly 1/4 inches of oil on top of the sauce.

APRIL 2023 UPDATE: dined in here a couple times recently and enjoyed the Hainanese chicken rice and curry pork chop rice. The food is so worth it the price point with most dishes under $10. The space is very small so theres always a line. *** EDIT: came to grab a quick lunch over the weekend and they were slammed with takeout orders and dine in. Theyre definitely efficient given how busy they are. Food is good. Space is very very tight. *** The food here is quite good, I havent tried much beyond their snacks since I come here when Im craving HK snacks. The fish siu mai is hard to find and tasted good with bouncy texture. Everything has been fresh and tasty. They have 12% discount for pick-up orders now.

Came around 11:30am on Saturday with a group of five. There were a few people in line ahead of us, but we were seated relatively quickly (~10 min) at a very cozy booth near the door. Service was cordial but they were very understaffed given the high volume of dine-in and take-out orders. One of the drink orders was wrong, and there was a significant wait between dishes arriving (i.e. three people in our group were done eating by the time the dishes came for two other people). We also made an additional order for a pineapple bun w/ butter that never came. We didnt address the missing/incorrect orders though as they were so busy and it didnt bother us enough to bring it up. That said, the pork chop and chicken steak w/ rice I ordered was cooked well, and the black pepper sauce was great as well. Wouldve liked some more vegetables but overall portion sizes were good for the price. Good spot for classic HK cafe style dishes, as long as youre not in a hurry! 3.5/5

If you have a party of more than 2, go somewhere else unless you want to wait at least an hour. Their wait list is a joke, they prioritize 1 and 2 person parties to maximize turnover, and their seating capacity is only 20 people. Dont let the crowds fool you! The food is nothing to write home about - we ordered the Hainan chicken rice and a combo with a satay beef macaroni and egg sandwich, the satay was so salty I could feel my blood pressure going up. The Hainan chicken was OK, but nothing special. Price is decent, but not worth waiting for. I wasnt full after eating here. The worst part was the service or lack thereof, when we asked when we would get a table because we were already waiting for 45 minutes with a baby, the guy said give me 8 minutes. When he gave us the bill, he had the gall to give us attitude and say see, I said 8 minutes, you got your table in 5. Yeah, what about the other 45 minutes we wasted??

Overall the service and food was good and quick. The space is very small and fits maybe 20ish people max which can result in a long wait during peak lunch hours. Price was very reasonable and like a lot of other Hong Kong cafes, they only accept cash or debit. Parking can also be rather difficult if parking in the outside lot as it can be pretty packed and hectic during busy hours as well.

Long wait to get seated for a table of 2 due to limited tables and small store. Several items on the menu were sold out when we tried to order them. Service was slow, probably due to the numerous take out orders. My moms french toast took a very long time to come out. I finished my pineapple bun before my moms french toast came out. The food was okay, but not something that justifies the long wait times. The milk tea was bland and took a while to come out too.

I had their satay beef noodle with egg sandwich and a ying yang tea, and my partner had the curry rice with milk tea. This place is SMALL and only has about 6-7 tables and most seat 2 ppl only. Thus you almost always have to queue a bit; we waited about 15 (although it seems like ppl were generally waiting 20-25 mins for a table of 2). The prices are pretty much unbeatable for casual HK style cafe food! The quality is good for the price and while ive had better HK Milk tea, theirs isnt bad at all! My photo didnt do the food much justice but it tasted better than it looks. It is a bit cramped in there and a bit stuffy, so not the most comfortable seating, but for the price i def wont be complaining.

I will definitely not patronize this restaurant again. Its really hard to buy for money. Before I went in, a friend told me that the food was not good, but I thought about trying it. Maybe everyone s taste is different. Went in and ordered Meal C and Meal E. At the beginning, he put the beef satay that I ordered on the segregation table (on the wrong table), then went back to the kitchen for a while and took it out for me. (I don t know if he has changed it, but the tip was already swollen before they were taken out.) I don t care, the restaurant didn t cook it well. Although other wild foods are not good to eat, especially his cup of frozen milk tea, which has no tea or milk taste, just like a cup of strange-tasting frozen water. I can do the math, just treat it as a personal request/taste. But if you want to miss the order later, if you ask me if I have arrived, I can take care of it and treat it as if you are busy. When I went to pay the bill, I asked him if there was any cash discount or only cash? He told me there was no discount and he would take cash. Then I asked if he only accepts cash or can he accept debit? He was very reluctant to answer like this at first, so he could receive a debit. When comparing the debits later, I couldn t choose how many tips to compare or not to compare, which made me feel weird (normally I like the total number of tips to be the same). So in the end I told him that I would give him cash (I had already decided at that moment that I would not give tips because the service was not good from beginning to end, the food was not good, and if you want to force someone to give you a fixed % of tips, I really couldn t see it) To the point solution than). But when he saw that I had a lot of tips, he told me that I could put my tips in a pocket. I really dont want to ask him about his tips? He didnt answer me. He only said that I could talk to them if I was dissatisfied. I think I am extremely dissatisfied with what you said. You just told me that you must give me tips. Finally, I begged him to put down two coins and leave. It can only be said that money can only buy pain.

Hong Kong Cafés are popping up everywhere in Markham. I came across this one in the Langham Square in South Unionville Ave. Theres a small dining area so not recommended for large groups. The menu is pretty simple and serves up some Hong Kong style comfort food. The main attraction here is the Hainanese chicken served on a bamboo style plate. The chicken melts in your mouth, and you have 3 dripping sauces: sweet soy, ginger oil, and spicy sauce. The portions here are generous, and we could not finish our whole meal. Got some food to pack up. The prices here are super reasonable, and most entrées come with a complimentary hot HK milk tea or coffee. You may upgrade to a cold or premium hot drink for extra charge. The wait time wasnt too bad after 2 pm. We got a table in about 20 minutes. I will definitely come back and try some of their daily specials. #whenhungerstrikes #markhamfoodie #hongkongcafe #hkcomfortfood

We finally got a chance to try this place as it is ALWAYS packed. There are about 10 tables here and can seat about 15-20. It s a really small space hence the long lineups. You leave your name and how many you have in your party and you wait. We arrived at 6:50 and waited for 20 mins on a Tuesday evening (They close at 8). We ordered the Beef Brisket Instant Noodles, Tomato Chicken steak baked Rice, Black Pepper Chicken Steak and Pork Chop on Rice as well as their Egg Yolk Molten French Toast. The prices here are very reasonable, however expect the portions to be small. The entrees come with drink, and we all got the iced lemon tea which was OK. The beef brisket was tough, but their curry sauce was good like the HK style one. The Tomato chicken steak baked rice was really good, however we found a piece of wire from the dish scrubber in the rice. (see photo). The owner I assume, made us an order of the baked rice. The black pepper chicken and pork chop on rice was OK. The owner came and apologized and said that their chef made a mistake while making the Egg Yolk Molten French Toast and they did not feel satisfied serving it to us. (I have NEVER heard that before, and I REALLY wanted to try it). He actually bought a plate of the French toast which was kind of burnt to show us. Honestly, I just feel like they did not want to make anymore or were out of ingredients as they were busy. We noticed that others that came in after 7:30 pm did not have options on the menu as they were sold out of beef brisket, chicken steak etc, so come early if you want to try. The service was good.

Description in a few words: not worth the wait Service and attitude quite poor from the older lady serving us. She delivered the food to our table with no utensils. When we followed up about the utensils, she got defensive and replied with a what did you order and from where?. I was quite stunned to hear her ask that question given shes the server, and at this point, it shouldnt matter -provide the customer with basic utensils. The milk tea also came way too late - we were about to leave until it came. And then we felt rushed to gulp the milk tea down after having our plates taken away and eager customers staring us down while hearing the waitress say to waiting customers that well be done soon. This tea restaurant is small but very popular, and you can often see people queuing up at the door. There are not many seats in the store, and the takeout ratio is high. Personally, I think dining in is the best way to taste it. The signature must-order Hainanese chicken rice has a fragrant chicken fat flavor, and the rice is dry but not greasy. The protagonists chicken is very slippery and does not smell like snow. The chicken leg meat tastes great. The three-color sauce matches the taste of Hainanese chicken rice. It feels like everyone who has eaten it will fall in love with it. The hand-shredded ginger and scallion chicken rice is also good, with a Cantonese-style taste. There are 4 different snacks in the Da Si Xi snack platter, 2 pieces each. My favorite is the Swiss chicken wings.
