First time here and definitely return! Bright, clean spacious Hong Kong style cafe. Very friendly and courteous staff. Ordered Satay rice noodles , beef tendon & brisket rice noodles. Both orders came with beveragesโฆlemon tea was my choice. Plenty of parking in front of cafe as well as behind the building.
Good portion sizes on the Guilin Noodles. Flavourful toppings of tomato, minced pork, and mustard greens
I usually come here for their breakfast or all day combos. They're a great deal and delicious. Today I got the pork chop and eggs, for $10.99 very good. I was very happy with it for its price point. I also like their cold lemon tea and the French toast with peanut butter inside. Local diner vibes :) not complicated food.
There weren't any other open resto options around in the morning when my fam came here to dine. We ordered a bunch of stuff from the early morning menu. The satay beef on vermicelli had the tiniest amount of beef portioned in. The soup had no taste whatsoever. The beef brisket and tendon noodle soup was mid as well. The beef itself was tender but MY GOD WERE THEY STINGY with the protein. Also, the broth STILL had no taste. The pork chop was pounded out thin and then smothered in gravy. Gravy was ok, pork chop itself was overcooked to smithereens. Same w/ the accompanying egg. Sunnyside up egg gets you a fully cooked one apparently. My bro got an egg sandwich as an accompaniment to his pork chop and received egg that was also overcooked in the sandwich as well. The lemon tea tasted bad, the milk tea was passable. If I could sum up the food in one word it would be: bland. It didn't seem like they seasoned anything at all! I know HK cafe food is supposed to generally be lighter but that doesn't mean NO seasoning loool! Oh yea, some other reviewer mentioned that the server forgot to bring eating utensils to the table. This was also the case for us. Brought all the dishes and left. Returned 5 min later to see if everything tasted already when we thought she was finding cutlery for us in the back.
In business for 20+ years and it is an icon in this area. It survived both the 2003 and 2020+ hard time and the shrinkflation. The size of the macaroni with ham returning to an attractive size, see the pictures, more thicker ham and more macaroni. Isn't it good? The $7.99 today cannot compare to those $2.99 days w/eggs + ham + toast + macaroni/ham strips.
Inexpensive Hong Kong style Cafe for tea, brunch or snacks. We got the instant noodles with braised beef, The pineapple bun with butter, and some milk teas. Everything was up to standard and very inexpensive. Food was served within 5 minutes of when we arrived. This is a No Frills spot to grab a quick bite, it's even faster than any fast food places. Don't expect kind service or any special decor in the restaurant. There are washrooms available on the ground floor.
I used to be a regular here before the pandemic, and I recently had my first experience since the world changed. Unfortunately, I have to say that the food quality has taken a noticeable nosedive. We popped in for a quick bite in the afternoon, and the menu offered a range of options from an all-day menu to daily specials and an all-day breakfast menu. We decided to try the curry beef with rice, which came with a daily soup and a drink. If you wanted to switch to a cold drink, there was an additional charge of $1.50. The food arrived swiftly, but I have to admit the presentation left much to be desired; it looked like the dishes had been hastily thrown onto the plates. Flavor-wise, it was a disappointment โ you could clearly taste that the curry was diluted from a concentrate. Some vegetables were properly cooked, but the raw mushrooms were quite an unpleasant surprise. We also ordered a cold milk tea, which was just alright; sadly, the tea flavor didn't shine through, leaving it somewhat bland. To top it off, when we requested a takeout container for our leftovers, we were charged $0.50 per container. The service didn't help improve the experience either; the servers seemed inattentive, and I had to flag them down every time I needed something. When the bill arrived at $19, it felt expensive given the quality, service, and portion size. I feel there are other restaurants around the area to better spend $20 on food.
[Updated May 11, 2024: Appreciate very much the owner's honesty that they spotted that we paid more than required.] I ordered a hungry man special today. On the surface the meal seems no different from a breakfast. However, the bread is well toasted, the eggs are well fried, the steak is tendon and the spaghetti in soup is chewy. The tea element of their HK style milk tea is rich, though less creamy and silky. The red bean curd pork hock noodle in soup is highly recommended. The pork hock is nicely preserved. The attendants are very nice, polite and attentive. The place is also clean. The sun room is sufficient and delightful.
good service with good food, recommended.
Very clean good atmosphere nice service
Best HK cafe style I brought my son from NewmaRket 45 min drive to come here.
The set meals in this restaurant are very small, and you can hardly feel full. The attitude of the waiters is still okay. This time, the government waived food and beverage tax and came here to have a meal. As a result, the prices of all meals have increased. It is really unkind. I will think twice next time. . .
Good food, good service
I went there for the first time today to try out the taste. These tastes feel very authentic and delicious Although the garlic buns are a little burnt, they are still delicious. The salad is very thin, the ham is delicious, and the salad dressing is not too much or too little. The lamb chop is not too smelly and has a strong lamb flavor. The fish fillet is very tasty and the side dishes include broccoli, tomatoes and corn. Spaghetti is tougher Fried chicken wings, they have a leafy flavor and are crispy enough. The French fries are also very delicious and delicious. Hong Kong-style milk tea is rich enough and the tea base is fragrant enough I think it tastes better than the milk tea in Hong Kong. Parking: There are many parking spaces near the restaurant, but Im not sure how many there are.
The price increase is outrageous and unacceptable
Good and tasty food, will keep coming back.
Very delicious! ! ! ! And the price is affordable and the food is served quickly! ! Come again next time!
Very good
The government wants to help us save money, but this restaurant must have missed the memo. They hiked up the price of every menu item by $1! That s like an 8-9% increase! Should we support this daylight robbery? This price hike makes me want to flip tables.
Stocking milk tea amazing Btw the boss is very handsome!
There is a handsome guy inside
Delicious food, great price, and the servers are nice. Highly recommend!
Best food and service in town!!
Pineapple oil and lemon tea are enough
Excellent food and service. My kids love to eat here.

Have been here multiple times. Food is great. However the restaurant increased the price on ALL its items by at least 1 -2 dollars with the GST tax break dec 15. Will never go there again.

Stir-fried pork with double mushroom sauce is delicious
Comes here often for lunch, good food, good service!
5 stars for food and service, but giving a 3 star because the staff consistently start mopping at 8pm when the restaurant closes at 9pm. Once they start mopping, the whole restaurant smells like chlorine. If they stopped doing this, I would change my rating back to 5 stars Update: just ate here and they hadnt started mopping when I left at 8:10pm, so it looks like they read my review and took my suggestion. As promised, bumped my rating to 5 stars

Ordered coconut chicken rice Chicken is very smelly The wrong seasoning for the rice was coconut milk and it was not the seasoning for Hainanese chicken rice. The boss was very generous and gave me a 10% discount! So generous!

Love coming here - one of my fave HK cafes. Their egg sandwich combo with satay beef vermicelli is our go to order along with the Guilin noodles.

Good food, good prices, good everything! I had their lunch special of baked minced pork with cheese on rice. It was good, and it came with a soup and drink.
Love the food! Would come again!
Nice Hong Kong styles neighborhood cafe.
Won t come again
Taste bad, soup taste like a water.
Overcharged my bill. Watch your bill total! Also raw eggs and not fully cooked chicken for that breakfast combo. Wont return again.
Ordered take out chicken steak with green onion and ginger on fried rice. Its very greasy! The bottom of the container was so oily, fried rice was soaked in oil. Not enjoying it at all. Im trying to find take outs that are not too greasy for my husband who has high cholesterol. Wont order anymore. Taste is good though.
Taste good
They had very bad service, and foods are no fresh at all!!! Only care of their tips!!!
I have eaten other Hong Kong tea today and give Metropolis five stars. If you are not a busy eater and want to have a full meal with good taste and good value for money, we recommend you to eat: curry beef brisket, various kinds of stir-fried beef river, and pineapple sweet and sour chicken. The boss and waiters have always been very nice and work quickly. Compared with other 4-star+ restaurants, the food here is much better.
Economical, affordable and delicious
Vegetarian options: The portion is small for special at 14.99 No too impressed Food : 3/5
*Came back a few times but the most recent visit completely changed my mind on this restaurant. Highly recommend any baked meat on rice for drink the Honey lemon is great. Service is much better than before. Prices are very reasonable and food is great. Food : 5/5
Convenient food but hard to park for lunch. Always comes with a soup and tea.still loving it. Very good
Dined there twice in the last month but wont go back again. There are other HK-style cafes in the city that offer way better taste and value. Price is affordable but portion is small. On top of that, the carbs out-proportion the veggies/protein. Food
1) The waiter uses the same gloves when cleaning, delivering food to the table, and collecting money. 2) Food standards drop
