Serene, sophisticated fixture for housemade pasta, premium sauces & refined Italian classics.
Great service. Not a fan of the bread but the dishes were delicious. Calamari was great and the pasta was good. Little on the higher end worth a shot. The atmosphere was definitely comforting.
Great food, warm service, a family feeling spot. Local business contact who knows the family who owns the place invited me for a visit. Spectacular lunch, wish I was more hungry because their pizza and pasta both looked so good. Why didn’t I get the Carbonara …oh yes it’s because they had a non-breaded grilled Calamari option ( my favourite) and it was absolute perfection. I left something at my table and realized when I got to my car, I was walking back when I caught our sever standing on the walkway ( in the freezing cold) looking for me….these folks were so kind. 10/10 spot, free parking nearby too.
My wife and I have had many delicious meals at this family owned restaurant. We enjoyed our dinner as usual the other evening with our only complaint being the delay in getting seated at our table. Once seated, we enjoyed another tasty meal. The pizza and salmon were delicious. Falco’s is a must try for visitors and it’s a great place for the regulars.
I visited Folco's Ristorante for the first time and absolutely loved it! The atmosphere is cozy and warm, just like home. I only tried one dish, but it was amazing. The staff were friendly, and Lee was incredible—not only serving us but also working as a bartender. She quickly understood exactly what we wanted with our drinks. Great experience, and I’ll definitely come back!
Decent food, little over-priced, loud. Good customer service. Bread was stale, did not have the 2nd piece. Tomato in bruschetta was not ripe, rather flavourless. White fish pasta ($36) was perfect. The Creme Brule Cheesecake($16) had no custard flavour, it seemed to be a slice of plain cheesecake with carmelized sugar on top. Too loud. All of us at my table had to either shut up or shout, unable to communicate because of reflected voices from the surrounding tables. At times we were shouting over them, perpetuating the overall up-volume cycle. Maybe changing to booths wilth glass riser partitions, and installing acoustically absorbent panels coating the drywall ceiling would stifle the din. The food and beverages, delivery, delivery time, attentiveness, suggestions, washroom access, etc were all very good. We were quite a while seated (approx 3 hrs) and staff were kind in asking for the table in 5 to 10 minutes; we could see the lineup at the door. Unfortunately we won't return, because of the acoustic issue.
On a spontaneous lunch date, this was our first visit to Falco's. Both our dishes were fantastic; elegant but with a home cooked feel that felt nostalgic too. We will definitely return to try more from the menu.
One of our favourite places to go for special occasions. Last night, we visited for dinner and had a spectacular time. Marta provided exceptional service and showed great care in ensuring we had a wonderful celebration. The only thing is that we missed the cheese bowl pasta...Guess we will simply have to return another time😉
Today we visited Folcos for Mother’s Day. Jordan was serving us and we had such an amazing meal and service. His attention to detail was phenomenal. I appreciate that he repeated back the order to us as we had multiple adjustments made to the menu which he happily accommodated, he made it a wonderful time for us. I had such a good Mother’s Day because of him.we’ve come several other Times, but never received as good service as we did today with him. I hope management reads this and praises him as we will be back and that he is the one serving us.
Very nice Italian restaurant. Food was fresh and amazingly good. Homemade pasta is always the best. Simple flavour is something that can t beat.
Very friendly service went above and beyond, had a negative encounter with one of the other patrons that was dining at the same time as us, but the staff there was very understanding and welcoming. Keep it up. Shout out to Matthew Folcos for the amazing pasta wheel.
Great pasta and services!
Attached a bridal shower there and the food was superb
Honestly pretty bland food. Wasn t my favourite. I went with my friend who ordered the bolognese and I got the ravioli, the only way I could finish that ravioli was by mixing some of her bolognese sauce into my dish. Overpriced place.
I used to love their scallop pasta, but this time it was not as good as it used to be, the pasta was overcooked and the sauce was not spicy enough, a little bit disappointing.
I had some friends from Brazil visiting me who would like to eat authentic pizza, and we had much more than that. It was such a wonderful experience. The food was excellent, and the service was exceptional. Vegetarian options: Pizza vegan
Disappointed!!! Sep 2024 Couples We were very disappointed! Ordered CALAMARI FRITTE $19, CAESAR $17, Mattys Meat Lover pizza $25 the cheapest wine was $56 ? Ordered Sparkling water $.7.25 Food come fast, Clamary was cold and chewy, Caesar was ok, disappointment was the pizza !!! All the ingredients were in the middle not evenly placed on the Pizza Dough look like someone drop it, no testy ingredients, also the dough was Chewy. Disappointed!!! Ambience was ok, sometimes very laud, We tried and we will not go back. Ch:85008 Sep26.24
why are you guys closed at 7:30pm on a sunday with no notice???? lmao
hopefully, the girl from yesterday night s call shouldve expected this review but I AM TRULY DISAPPOINTED from what i had to deal with at this resturaunt. i made a reservation here for a FRIEND s BIRTHDAY. i never call to confirm a reservation but last night, i had a feeling i should so i did. they said there was nothing under my name ??? at first, i thought i called the wrong resturaunt but then when i checked my call history, i saw their resturaunt under my call history so i called back. she said nope, nothing under that. i asked if she could make any accommodations because its 7:30PM - CLOSE TO THE TIME of when restaurants close and she said no. i was so frustrated because it was our friend s birthday and we were all so stressed. she said this resturaunt was fully booked for the rest of the night when we called between 7-7:30pm but then..my friend was able to make a reservation for our party of 6 and got us a reservation for 8pm.. which is odd because the woman on the phone told me the resturaunt was booked up? also, at the end of the phone call with the girl i spoke to when booking.. i confirmed with her three times saying okay, october 16 for a party of 6 at 7:30PM!!!! and she even said yes three times. this place was a mess and i wish they dealt with us better.. truly disappointing. heard the food is good but to be honest, none of us will be visiting after this kind of service was provided.
My go-to place for authentic Italian food in Markham!
Our server Stefan was fabulous and very attentive, he even brought out a sweet treat for my husbands birthday. Thank you again for the wonderful service! Food
We chose Folco s to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. We have celebrated many family occasions here. Not anymore. Unfortunately it was a big disappointment. None of our favorite dished were available including the burrata and cheese wheel and we were there on a Saturday night. We found the food to be overpriced and both our dishes were just plain average and quite boring. They don t even offer a glass of wine offering for less than $22. Really - you can t offer a house wine at a reasonable price. FOLCO s have a Provincial licence to permit bring your own wine with corkage fee but don t actually offer the service. It s all about the money these days rather providing a superb dining experience. My business is going elsewhere. Too bad.
My girlfriend and I went here for dinner and the food was amazing. We both ended up ordering a second main to take home and have the next day because we just couldnt decide what to try! Staff was very friendly, service was speedy, has become a new Toronto area favourite!
I loved their specials. It will surprise you. Their wine collection is good. Food
Obsessed with their pizza, one of my all time favourites. Just note they don t make it on Friday/Saturday nights
The overall experience was great. My son and I watched while Chef Folco explained the pasta dish while melting the cheese in the wheel. Food was flavorful and presentation was great.
Delicious!
Excellent kitchen, very professional and friendly staff, lovely older style decor, can be a little loud at times inside. Excellent wine list, including some private imports from Italy. Vegetarian options: Eggplant Parmigiana is outstanding. Caprese salad very generous, and cheese therein is best in the city.
The workers here seem like they dont know what they are doing. The manager seems to be aimlessly wandering around and doesnt know how to serve the customers properly. Food was decent (positive note)!
Ordered their wild mushroom ravioli, it was one of the best ravioli I have ever had.
Everything fabulous but noisy Kid-friendliness: Saw others with children. Saw children s options on menu Food : 5/5 |
Incredible gem tucked away on Main Street Markham, the staff are extremely friendly, and the food is excellent, for dessert the in house made cheesecake is quite literally the best I ve ever had in my life, 10/10 would recommed!
Food is exquisite, service is excellent and atmosphere is very pleasant! The care and detail taken to prepare the food shows AND tastes! The bruschetta here is to die for! DO NOT skip dessert once you ve finished your main. Life will not be the same after trying the Crème brûlée cheesecake - WOW!!! Thank you Famiglia Folco!!
Food was bland, not real Italian. Not good service and not worth the price.
Highly recommended
They list themselves as closing at 10:30 p.m. but when we arrived, they said they stop serving at 8:30 p.m. Thats ridiculous. Please dont list yourself as closing at 10:30 then? Thought we were safe arriving TWO hours -- yes, TWO hours -- before the listed closing time but NOPE. Abominable. This has actually happened before, years ago, but we decided to try again. Lesson FINALLY learned. Definitely wont be going back.
My friend and I went on mother s day! It was busy n good vibes. We ordered the food and mentioned no meat since my friend does eat meat yet the pasta came with prosciutto! After we asked them to check they said sorry and got us new pasta with just the sauce no veggies no garnish just the pasta n sauce! If u are not an Italian don t bother going here! I wish i took pictures of both the pasta dishes to show!
Amazing food, amazing place. Would highly recommend this restaurant for pasta
Dinner was amazing, right from the appetizers, wine, salmon on a bed of pesto pasta and desert. The service was friendly and suggestions for our main dish were excellent. The salmon won this time. My wife and I will return again soon to try the lunch menu. Very please with the portions and the flavors were spectacular. Truly a real gem in the heart of Markham. Awesome Italian food.
Had lunch this week here. Nice spot. Nice waitress. Daughter of the owner. Service was ok, food was ok. Servings small. Very expensive. $60/p for pasta dish, shared appies and water, including tax and tip. No alcohol. Waitress missed one person s main which was annoying. It came out late after everyone was finished. I would not recommend or return.
Had a great meal, got the specials, one salmon and the other was lamb. For a special evening this is a great place to go.
We booked the private dining room for our wedding reception. Could not have asked for a more perfect venue for a small party (12 adults 3 small children) Angie was extremely accommodating and our guests raved about the food, atmosphere, portion size and of course the service. The perfect end to the perfect day.
Great food, atmosphere & the owner was forever present welcoming guests & checking up on food.
Everything was fantastic! Food was so good and special shout out to our server Jordan! Jordan was so attentive, made great recommendations and overall was a really nice person. The hostess was also super nice and welcoming. The food, service and vibes at Folco s are always top notch thank you!
Been going to this restaurant for years and it never disappoints. Authentic Italian food and the service is always amazing!
Very cosy restaurant on Markham Main street. highlights of our meal included the cheese wheel pasta special with panko crusted chicken which was amazing. The Tiramisu was amazing. It was light soft and creamy. The lemoncello Tartuffo was also a hit. Some of our other dishes were tasty but not home runs. Service was friendly and servers came to full our wine and water on a regular basis. Restaurant is on the loud side. Overall very good and recommended.
They are VERY Hospitable !
Hands down the best Italian around! Amazing staff and Fsmily! Highly recommended.
food was good but the service was slow.
The food is delicious and the services is excellent.
February 2024 update: unfortunately lowering my rating due to an unfortunate experience of food poisoning. We came here for dinner and ordered the fried seafood platter for the table and several entrees. The pasta dishes were seasoned and cooked well but there was an excessive amount of oil that it pooled at the bottom of the plate (especially in the fettuccine di Piemonte - see photo) which not only looked unappetizing but may have been one of the contributors to the upset stomach afterwords. The more problematic dish turned out to be the chicken parmigiana. It tasted fine enough but almost as soon as we got home, my partner who ate this dish had a stomach ache and ended up with food poisoning for the next day. He hasnt had any other food before or after that meal so were quite certain it was something in his dish. ~~~ I brought my mom here for her birthday and we had a great time. The service was quick and friendly, and the patio was nice. We ordered a bruschetta crostini appetizer (part of their specials) but it turns out they werent serving it that night. They defaulted to a tomato, parmesan crisp and spring mix salad and let us keep it since they were going to toss it anyways. And they made us another bruschetta dish that more closely resembled what we originally ordered. We also got the wild mushroom ravioli and Sofia Mia pizza. Both were delicious. There isnt much ravioli filling but the mushroom flavour was reinforced by their truffle oil cream sauce. This dish couldve been a bit hotter in temperature. The Sofia Mia was delicious. I would order that again and again. Loved the sweetness of the figs with peppery arugula and salty crispy prosciutto. The pizza dough is also amazing. They also use a brick oven!
I would have given 5 stars but we were a little miffed about one thing. We had reservations for 4. We were told that after 6 pm, there is a 2h limit for the table. After 90 minutes we were all done and were waiting to pay our bill. A guy (not our waitress) comes to our table to tell us that we will need to leave soon. I just found that to be very odd, if not rude. Party foul on Folcos! Wheelchair accessibility: This restaurant is not Wheelchair accessible at all!
Service was super friendly and welcoming. Wish I got the Penne al la Vodka. Instead, I went for the Pasta special with panceta, which was finished table side, in a cheese bowl, by the owner. Dish was heavy and one noted. Mens room could use an update. Excellent dinner atmosphere & decor. Nice evening out with friends.
Food was okay, I got the carbonara which was a bit too salty for my liking. I didn t realize the fried calamari would be almost doused in balsamic glaze, maybe would ve preferred that on the side. The escargot were very smothered in cheese and believe were wrapped in prosciutto. The place itself was very home-y and small which gave it a very cozy vibe. There was a birthday celebration happening so I can t really fault the servers for their lack of attention to our table. Overall it was a decent place for a cozy Sunday dinner.
Amazing food with incredible service.
Amazing service and great food
I took my gf here on saturday to celebrate her bday. When I was doing research, I found out that this was one of the only restaurants in the GTA serving tableside pasta in the cheese wheel. Calling in to the restaurant, I had been told that the chef usually does the cheese wheel pasta on saturday night so you can imagine my immense disappointment when I found out upon asking, that the chef was actually out of town on THIS particular saturday night when I wanted my gf to experience something special. Anyways, we were sat right away upon arrival and the servers hung our coats on hooks near the entrance (within visual range). We never actually got a designated server (idk if the hostess forgot about us or not) but throughout the night we took it upon ourselves to flag down a very young gentleman named Jordan who provided great service to us throughout the night. Seafood platter for 2: This was actually a lot of food. I was skeptical when we ordered it but it came with a ton of seafood which justified the near $40 price. The seafood was also cooked well. Everything was so tender. The calamari rings in particular. And the battering was light and crispy. We also really liked the fresh citrus dip on the side that the platter came with. Dipping the seafood really helped to cut back on the richness of the batter. Ravioli de maddalena: So this dish was actually a lil disappointing. It was supposed to be the signature pasta of the resto but aside from the nice flavour of the veal (which my gf didnt particularly enjoy either since she said it tasted like lamb), the pasta was too thick and the simple butter sauce didnt coat the noodles well enough. Fettuccine carbonara: We both unanimously agreed that my dish tasted superior. The sauce clung to the noodles way better. It was more rich and full bodied. The noodles were actually al dente and had better chew. The egg yolk on top was a nice added touch. Tiramisu: WOW. This dessert was a showstopper for sure. Most legit italian restos will have a really delicious, homemade tiramisu and this place was no exception. It was just as good as the tiramisu we had at Il Postino on Main St Unionville. Absolutely sublime. Would come back but only if I knew the chef was in the house that night making the tableside cheese wheel pasta!
I came here with my cousin last week and we were so disappointment. We had very high expectations considering the reviews. We started off ordering drinks ( mojitos ) and they were NOT good. The bartender clearly did not take the time to properly mix these drinks. They just poured things in a glass and found some mint and just threw it on top - it was not good. However, our server was excellent and she allowed us to return the drinks. We ordered the Rose instead. When we got our drinks there was ALOT OF STUFF floating at the bottom of our glasses. It looks like chunks of something, not sure what it was, or if that was even normal, but we decided to drink it anyway. This wasnt even the biggest issue, but it certainly set the tone. The issue was the menu and the amount of food you get for the price. We started with the cantina platter which was a whopping $19.00. This came with 6 small thin pieces of bread and the smallest little ramekin ( probably a teaspoon) of pickled vegetables from a jar that clearly came from Longos. I have it at home it tastes exactly the same. Calling it a platter is a very BIG stretch. For our main meal I ordered the Fettucinne Di Piemonte. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the dish looked amazing, however ZERO FLAVOUR, like none, and it was SWIMMING in olive oil. I think I could have bottled it and had enough to cook with for a week. My cousin ordered the Sofia Mia pizza. The dough was so chewy and hard, and there was literally no figs, or goat cheese on the pizza.. it was dough with two handfuls of arugula. It was very hard to eat. We were super disappointed with our meal from beginning to the end. Our server was very polite however, and did a great job. Overall I would not recommend this place for drinks, if you arent ordering the wine ( and maybe not even the wine ), I would not recommend for the appetizers as they are grossly overpriced for what you get, and the meals were lacking in flavor. In the words of Gordon Ramsey What a shame.
Everything at this restaurant exceeds expectations. My ONLY complaint was that our table wasnt ready by our reservation time. We ended up eating at the bar but the food and service was well-worth the small change of plans. Parking: Not many spots in the back lot, but weve never had trouble finding a spot on the street closeby.
Pretty little family run restaurant, located along a street full of independent business. Front of house staff define hospitality and made us feel at home. Caesar salad ordered for the table was a hit. As was the calamari fritte. My ravioli was just as I d hoped it would be, a good balance of pasta to filling, dressed in classic butter and sage. My father can be a little hard to please but he really enjoyed the carbonara. Prices are fair for the quality of food. It feels like the chef/owners strive to maintain a standard and select ingredients to reflect this. Home made pasta here also demonstrates a commitment to quality. Even the espresso was a cut above and definitely one of the best I ve had in a while. If I was in town for longer I d definitely return.
Excellent food and service
Wonder place and people. Comfortable and romantic setting.
Great home cooked Italian food.
Fantastic but a little too pricey for my blood.
Overall experience is good. Portion is a little smaller than expected with the price.
Pricey but well worth the money.
Amazing dining experience must visit.
Delicious food and large servings. The server was great with kids and the restaurant has a good kids menu. A little on the pricey side but worth it.
Excellent pasta, carbonara is SO good! Great cappuccinos. Crème brûlée cheesecake is amazing!!
Very disappointed with the quality of food. Squid in the seafood risotto was so chewy we all left it. The lemon chicken was tasteless and the veggie pasta was also blah in taste. Not returning here.
Excellent Italian food. As good as what Ive eaten in Italy.
Happened to walk by and come across this amazing restaurant. Ordered the caprese salad, lamb rack with mushroom ravioli, penne alla vodka, and tiramisu. Everything was delicious. Tender lamb, nicely cooked pasta and a very soft tiramisu. The customer service was great too. We will definitely be coming back for more!
Came here for date night with the boyfriend and we both had an amazing time. We shared the Escargot, Fried Calamari, and Beet and Kale salad special for our first course. Everything was delicious. The salad was dressed a tad heavily, but flavours were very nice. The escargot was cheesy and delicious, and the calamari was seasoned wonderfully - perfect with lemon! For our second course, we shared the Rack of Lamb special. Oh my gosh, it was so good. The lamb was so delicious - I don t know who was cooking the food but the seasoning was ON POINT. The ravioli was also brilliantly done. Brava! Come check out Folco s. Ask your server about the specials! They knock it out it out of the park here! Speaking of servers, thank you Stefano for your wonderful service. We had a wonderful time. Will be back soon.
Spent over $200 but service from the waitress is terrible. We waited on our table for over 15min & ask for someone to serve us. When the waitress finally came, she only ask if we are ready to order, not even introduced herself. We then for dinner specials and instead of explaining the dishes, she pointed us to check the menu on our phone & briefly talk to the name of the dishes. Overall the food is great except the veal tenderloin which is liked well done when we asked for medium, and the pasta is so sourly lemon which is very disappointing. Didn t get a chance to tell the waitress until we are almost done & all she said is we should have told her earlier and she can do something about it. She also mentioned it was fresh pasta made with lemon and so that s it. It s just a very terrible dining experience!
Good food, good service I m not a fans of Italian, but the pasta highlights my dinner.
What a wonderful experience! The staff are pleasant and warm. They welcomed everyone with so much respect and with their friendly spirit. The minute we walked in to the restaurant, Ms. Juli and Ms. Angie welcomed us and seated us at our table. Our wonderful waiter, Mr. Stefan was very very helpful and cheerful. He helped us to chose a very good bottle of red wine and our main course. The head chef, the owner of Folco s, greeted us at our table with a friendly smile and a great conversation. Overall, I highly recommend this beautiful restaurant for excellent authentic Italian food.
Not your regular Markham Italian Restaurant. I ve dined downtown at the best Italian restaurants and this place is definitely on par. From arrival to departure, the staff are passionate and warm. Stefan, our waiter is very outgoing, Julia is an amazing social butterfly, Angie is a sweet heart, and Diana is the most down to earth head chef I ve met! I ordered the grilled calamari to start with and was amazed! And followed by the Ravioli de Madalena and have never enjoyed pasta like that. Let s just say the plate don t have to be washed other than sanitized. My wife had the Fungi Salad and I sneaked a little and loved it too!
Nothing special with the food. I played it safe and ordered spaghetti and meatballs. They cant even get the pasta or the meatballs right. Overpriced.
Very nice place.
We had dinner there and the food were awful, the mushroom ravioli is not fully cooked, kids spaghettis meatball is so sour and hard, wondering where the good reviews are coming from? the owners friends and family? Big disappointment at this place
Food and service was excellent!
Food and service were great! Added to the list
Seafood platter for 2 a MUST. Make a reservation at 430pm and was greeted by friendly waitress. Food serve was tasty and fresh.
Have come here a few times and have always enjoyed the food. A bit on the pricey side but I would say worth it. Enjoy!
Frist time there I will be Back
Newly renovated, great friendly service, excellent fresh specials. Carbonara is amazing, the rack of lamb special is excellent and a huge portion!
Cozy space and food was nice!
the bruschetta is probably THE BEST bruschetta ive ever had. it was really delicious and i truly enjoy the bread as well. however, the penne alla vodka was a little mediocre solely because there was way more tomatoes involved than the cream... and the pasta itself was a little peculiar looking. NONETHELESS, i still liked it?just wasnt living up to the penne alla vodka name (needed more cream). but the bruschetta? got my toes curling and my eyes rolling at the back of my head. that was EXTREMELY GOOD. the bruschetta is to die for. the lasagna was also good! also, the kids menu looked sooo good too! i recommend you bringing a child. the service was also super great. the lady with the bangs and the pearl necklace who was serving us was sooo sweet, i loved her very much. she was so kind. the other staff were also very nice. i really liked the service here. i highly recommend!!! Kid-friendliness: they have an extremely good kids menu that i wanted to have. i was planning to bring a random child and say the meal is for them so i can eat the kids menu.
Service and food is always excellent!! Bright comfortable space.
A nice Italian restaurant to try. The atmosphere and service was very nice. Enjoyed the food, calamari was nicely prepared and the pasta mains were enjoyed but missed the wow factor (Penne Alla vodka stood out the most as a dish to have again). Reminded me of home style cooking. Desserts were a definite highlight. Tiramisu and chocolate gelato were a true treat.
We managed to get a last-minute reservation on a Saturday evening. So glad we did. Everything was so fresh and delicious. Will be returning again soon. Highly recommended. Vegetarian options: I had the eggplant option. It was spectacular. Parking: Found parking behind the building.
Highly recommend, if they are not busy.
Amazing food and service.
Amazing food. Lasagna is awesome. Creme Brulee cheesecake is a must have.
Great homemade pasta.. Minutes from Suresh Law. Food
I went yesterday with my two friends, I ordered ravioli and the plate came with insects rouin my dinner. The chef needs to pay attention to the health and safety of their customers
Ravioli always the best and a good Italian red wine
You will never find a warmer or more pleasant staff anywhere else. Also, the atmosphere in this home style restaurant makes you think of Gilmore Girls. Almost makes you forget the average food and below average portions. Food
Outstanding Italian cuisine.
One of the best italian restaurants in city! Love it.
Food and service was top notch. We will be back with our family.
This is an Italian Restaurant that doesnt serve pizza for the 2nd time. Is pizza not an Italian dish!! The reason why they dont offer pizza is that they are always busy.
Absolutely love coming to Folcos. The pasta is always good and delicious.
Service, Food and Wine excellence, will definitely be back.
Had dinner with the girls last night and it was fantastic!! I had the Bruschetta and the Penne alla Vodka I m already scheming how I can get that pasta again My girls had the mushroom ravioli and spaghetti & meatballs. Very nice atmosphere, friendly and our waiter Stefan was a gem! - so nice and attentive. Definitely coming back
Get the pasta in the wheel
Awesome evening, great food and service.
Amazing local Italian restaurant. The service was excellent. Everyone working there had great smile on their face. Food was top notch. Highly recommended are the Escargot for appetizer and the Vitello Marsala for main. Don t leave without trying the Lemoncello Tartufo. It s exceptional. We had a great meal and will come back for more.
The food was alright. I was sitting at the patio, so the service was very slow.
It was a beautiful night to sit out on the patio. The food was exquisite. The salmon with strawberry garnish on risotto was one of the best things Ive ever eaten. Just the right blend of sharp and creamy, soft and crunchy. A true masterpiece. The dessert of hazelnut coffee tartufo was equally excellent, crunchy hazelnut coating on coffee tartufo with soft clouds of whipped cream. Here is a chef who understands texture and contrast. Bravo! Service was first class also. Parking: Go over to the next street. Avoid driving on Main St at all if you can.
Food had fruit flies in it, as did the wine. Service was great and our waitress was amazing all things considered.
Sophia was very helpful and attentive. Food was outstanding
Great experience! Food is amazing, especially the rack of lamb!
Friendly and knowledgeable service in case you need help deciding what to order. Food is delicious and the portions are appropriate for trying multiple courses and not feeling too stuffed at the end.
This is probably the best boutique Italian restaurant in the Markham area. The service is always very good. Even though the place is a bit small, it s always very clean and well-maintained. Many of the ingredients are actually imported from Italy, so when we taste them, it reminds us of our trips in Italy. We recommend their risotto and pasta dishes. It s generally authentic (but changed a bit to suit our Canadian palates - like the spaghetti is softer, not Italy s al dente standard). But overall, a good romantic/date night choice for couples. Yes, there are better Italian restaurants in downtown Toronto or other parts of GTA, but this is pretty much top-notch in Markham. So this is our go-to Italian restaurant in this area.
In love with this place, the food and the service is great!!
WOW Very last minute. Daughter taking me out for a birthday lunch. Penne alla vodka and fettuccine carbonara were to die for soooo good. Our young lady server was so nice fun happy and knew what she was doing .she needs a raise. Wouldn t think twice about coming back. Tomorrow I m free :) High praise
I didn t see what everyone else saw. Good sucks environment sucks really bad
Food is good, but restaurant is not wheelchair accessible. Im in a wheelchair while recovering from leg surgery. There are two steps to get into the restaurant proper. We had made a reservation for my sisters birthday and noted on the online reservation that we had someone in a wheelchair. We were booked for inside but I was unable to get up the stairs. Thankfully the patio is accessible and it was a nice day, but there was no washroom access. Wheelchair accessibility: Only the patio is accessible.
This was our first time here, and firstly, this is an amazing Italian restaurant . The service was excellent, and the staff were super friendly and attentive. The food was outstanding. The pasta was fresh. There is so much flavor in the sauces. Highly recommend, we had a wonderful time, and we look forward to trying out the other dishes on the menu.
Food had hair in it and gnocchi was floury and uncooked in centre. Service was extremely poor. Server/owner is very rushy when taking orders, very transactional and does not understand personal space. Will reach right across your face to get menus on other side of table. If youre not ordering wine or desserts, dont expect a smile. Dont even expect a water refill. In fact, you can probably expect to be stared at while youre somewhat still trying to enjoy your dinner after it quite literally gets thrown on the table like youre a worthless customer. If youre not there to spend all out, she will make it clear she wants you to get out. Atmosphere would have gotten a 3, if there wasnt an angry server storming around. She kills the vibe.
Stefan was great
Food was great, but pizza wasn t available which we didn t understand why We waited about 45-50mins for food. I definitely recommend the penne ala vodka Vegetarian options: Not many available especially when pizza isn t an option. You can remove meat off any dish but can t substitute with vegetables which is lame
The food is okay. Their signature ravioli dish was a little too al-dente. I have had this dish on a prior visit, but not as good as the previous visit. The lasagne was nice. But the atmosphere and service are quite poor. First, we had made reservations for 2 and when we arrived at the restaurant we asked for the window table. We were told both window tables were not available, but one of them sat empty for the 2 hours we were there. The restaurant has hardwood and have no wall coverings so the restaurant echos quite a bit. The music is loud so everyone has to talk over the music which makes the restaurant even louder. The female server we had was also loud and was yelling at a table from across the room. She proceeded to stand over me and continue loudly speaking to a table of regulars across the room. We have been there 4 times in total, but we will be heading to a different Italian restaurant. There are plenty. I would not recommend this restaurant for a quiet romantic date night.
Lots of space and beautiful ambiance
Didn t like my dish Let me start by saying the staff is very friendly and the owner is a very sweet person so I wish I could leave a positive review. I ordered the Pollo Limone, and it was almost inedible. The amount of lemon in this one dish was so much my tongue started to hurt after a couple bites. The noodles were overcooked and the sauce did not emulsify leaving an oily mess. I tried the other pasta dishes and although they were better I wouldn t recommend them either. Overall not a very good experience.
Overall the food was great. We had the grilled calamari, the lemon pasta replaced the ham with chicken, and the veal mushroom spaghetti. Portions were good. Service overall was good but felt like we had to ask for things that should be usual at Italian restaurants such as butter, balsamic vinegar for the bread. I think we had to ask for something else but can t remember what it was. The pasta was very oily. Grilled calamari was excellent. The alcohol menu was rather pricey for a 9oz for about $21 and for two people, it made more sense to order the bottle $56 instead. Tables were rather close together and felt a bit loud at times. Atmosphere as alright, wasn t as high end as their pricing would suggest. Overall a good place. Parking: Parking was a bit confusing. It was at the back but no clear indication if we were in the right lot
A must visit in Markham Village.
It is a very nice place, the food is very good and the temperature is excellent.
I called and made a reservation for 6.30 pm 2 adults and a child. The person who took my reservation mentioned that no reservation was required as they were not busy. I got to the restaurant on time and the was told I need a reservation. I was even asked if I had made the reservation for today Total incompetence on the part of the staff. I called several times to speak to the manager but I was put on hold forever. Inconsiderate staff and totally clueless of customer service
Food was delicious, highly recommend the lasagna and the seafood pasta. Busy night, so it was a bit loud but the staff was very friendly and overall a great dining experience!
We were there a week ago to celebrate my sons birthday. Unfortunately the evening was marred by fruit flies and other large flies that kept attacking our table/ food The restaurant was packed hence could not ask for alternate seating to the window table we sat at. The fried Calamari was delicious and so were the garlic toasts with pickles. The chicken escalop was accompanied by pasta seasoned with arugula pesto which lent a pretty bitter taste. I would have been happy with a traditional basil pesto. The beef meat balls were so so. The saving grace were the delicious strawberry ice-cream and carrot cake. Ive had better food at Folcos on previous occasions.
The pizza is really good yum yum
I came from downtown Toronto to their restaurant to eat at 9 pm, and the lady who was sitting at the table eating came out to tell me that the restaurant was closed, basically I came to eat with my wife from 30 km away of the street because I saw that on their website they were open until 10:30 but instead it was closed. dont go there. Its a really unpleasant place.
Staff was friendly and accommodating. Food was delicious
We are super excited to be part of this community. Whats not to like serene, sophisticated fixture for housemade pasta, premium sauces & refined Italian classics. Yum.
Our order was supposed to be enough for 5 people. The amount of food relative to what we paid was a joke. Very disappointed.
Told us a table was available. Then Kept us waiting for 10 mins then said oh no only a seat at the bar available. HORRIBLE service.
Fabulous food experience. Staff were kind and knowledgeable, food was tasty. Great way to celebrate birthdays and milestones.
Very unprofessional, placed a reservation for New Year s Eve for a group one month ago. They accepted and confirmed it in writing. They called me two weeks before to say they canceled my reservation as they are closed. I asked why they accepted it to begin with, or why they didn t call sooner, they replied sorry . Now with two weeks before new years It will be impossible to find alternatives. I don t recommend this establishment.
I came in after 9pm and the staff was very nice to ask if the kitchen could cook for me. The waitress recommended ravioli as I only wanted to have a small portion dinner. The food is an average and not hot enough. Actually, the ravioli is only mildly warm. The cream source is a bit sticky than expected. After coming back from washroom, I found that they have cleaned up my table! Although I have finished the ravioli, I have half glass of wine on the table. Then, a waitress came and brought back my wine and said didnt realize I was not yet gone! Maybe they are rush to close. I may have to come earlier next time if I want to try again.
The food is just okay, due to the lack of staff, we have to wait almost 45 minutes for the first dish.
Good food but noisey.
Love this place! The staff were very friendly, the food was fantastic. The patio was loud but nice. Started the meal with probably the best Calamari Fritte Ive had. Battered lightly, complimented by yellow and red pickled peppers with a balsamic reduction. So tasty! My wife said the spaghetti bolognese was very good. I am happy to report that the melanzane parmigiana was superb. And the recommended wine, Popoli Aglianico, was full bodied and flavourful, with a noticeable notes of berries. Unfortunately you cant buy it at the LCBO. Ill be back.
Awesome brushetta and knoccis but disappointed that this authentic Italian restaurant did not offer pizza
Best carbonara I ve ever had! Great atmosphere and service, can t wait to dine again.
Phenomenal service with authentic Italian food that I don t have words to describe how delicious it tasted!
Great meal, friendly staff. Will be back! The fresh pasta and portions were amazing
Unfortunately, they ran out of pizza dough when we visited. The pastas were nice.
Magnificent. Italian dishes done right. Even the spaghetti bolonaise is close to the Hong Kong style. Ok. Maybe not the closest to the Italian original but they seems to know who their clientele are!
1st time there. I had the porchetta with fettuccini. The portion was substantial and it tasted amazing. I would definitely dine there again just to try the other dishes.
Service was terrible. Other than the waitress who was very helpful and respectful. Food wasn t good. No seasoning. I would not recommend. The only reason why this is getting a 1 star it s because they gave me ice cream but it also isn t good.
On August 31, my family and I decided to try Folco s for my husband s birthday dinner. Below is a completely honest review of my experience: I will start off by saying how delicious the food is. The pasta was wonderfully made, every dish was seasoned well, and the portions were great. However, I can t say the same about the service. I understand that the restaurant was incredibly busy but an hour wait time for water and bread is ridiculous by any standards. Our server for the evening, Evelyn, kept reassuring us that the wait time for food was because the kitchen was busy, but an hour and 30 minutes later is the when food arrived. Even then, it was only 2 out of 6 dishes we ordered that night. We mentioned that we wanted a specific dessert at the end of our meal as well but never received it. Additionally, no candle was added to any dessert as requested. The birthday candle was the only reason we were sitting patiently for more than two hours but we never got it. Besides, two other tables were celebrating their birthdays that night so it really showed their lack of care. I couldnt believe the service that night, it was horrible. Again, we understand that the restaurant was busy but to come back and confirm our order only for it to never arrive? It was ridiculous. Will we be coming back? Despite the service, the food is definitely delicious. Though, if the wait time and service is always going to be this haphazard then I say you re better off skipping this restaurant.
Pizza was below average. The gnocci was probably the worst Ive had at any Italian restaurant. Bacon in Gnocci? Doesnt go well
Always great food and service Best place to eat in markham
Borderline 2 star, highest 3 star. Everyone s preferences are obviously different, but I found that the combination of a lot of what they had did not complement each other well (ex: ham with escargot, the ham overpowers the escargot; bacon with truffle, bacon overpowers truffle). But also the carbonara and ravioli pastas were just sitting in very watery sauce. Cute place and service was fine! They were pretty busy though.
Amazing atmosphere, service, and food was delicious. If you love pasta and Italian food this is the spot!
The food was good, but too expensive. We went with friends and werent able to chat because the noise in the restaurant was deafening.
Excellent food..nice atmosphere..Friendly and knowledgeable servers.
Late to post this. Total garbage food and service.
We went to Folcos on a Friday night and had a nice time. We ordered a range of dishes from the fried calamari app, carbonara, veal ravioli, a veal special, and a veal marsala. My favourite was the veal marsala which was super flavourful. The veal ravioli was just alright, I wish it had more flavour. We also had the creme brulee cheesecake which was really unique! We were a party of 4 and service was timely and professional The restaurant has a rustic charm and we will definitely be going back!
Top notch quality Italian cuisine, a very at home like environment, Folco s is great! Definitely would recommend it to anybody wanting to enjoy good quality Italian cuisine!
First time here and I must say its best to make reservations. Place was busy when we arrived for 6 pm reservation on a Saturday. Service, atmosphere and food was good. Only had problems with 1 dish out of the 4 that we had ordered. Vitello Marsala is the dish to stay away from. Veal was just way to tuff to cut and chewy. Your best to make into tiny bite size pieces and it becomes workable. I will be back one day just know what to stay away from. **No pizza available on Saturdays**
Loved the food!!
We went with a group of 15 people and the service and food was amazing! We recently booked 3 more reservations to bring people. Loved it and great service, family owned is the way to go!
Will visit again! First off, the servers were excellent. They knew the menu, they knew wine and made excellent suggestions based on the food we ordered, and were attentive throughout (but not obnoxiously so). The food was very good and the servings for the lasagna and chicken parm were very generous! Dessert was just okay (had the tiramisu and it was a little soft and runny).
Great food and service. Pasta is fresh and super tasty. Highly recommended.
My first time ever at Folcos and we were excited for a date night out. We started with the grilled calamari which was quite tasty. We wanted to experience their fall specials that were sent out prior via email, so for our second course we tried the squash apple soup and it was amazing. For dinner my girlfriend had the rack of lamb with mushroom ravioli which she raved about. I had the veal tenderloin with the roasted tomatoes and pesto pasta, this dish was where I felt the overall experience and dinner fell short. The Good: first off the veal tenderloin was exquisite with a salty crust and it was beyond tender, tasty and overall amazing. The Bad: the pasta was the issue. In an Italian restaurant you expect great pasta. Well this dish was anything but great. The sauce was watery, lacked flavour and even extra parmesan and pepper did not help. I pushed it aside and focused on the amazing veal tenderloin. When our waitress finally checked in on our meals I conveyed my love of the veal and displeasure with the pasta. Her immediate response was, would you like some salt, or more cheese for flavour. I said no that is not going to fix the issue. It made me wonder if the chef tasted the sauce before serving. She did say she would mention it to the chef. The waitress came back and said she discussed the issue with the chef and it was suggested that it wasnt an issue with the sauce it was the pasta. Well i am celiac so i asked for their GLUTEN FREE pasta, trust me i have eaten enough Gluten free pasta, it was not the pasta at all. I just felt like the issue could have been dealt with better. When the specials arent given a price and you pay $49 for a veal tenderloin and sub par pasta, perhaps suggest another side while I am still enjoying the veal. In the end my GF enjoyed her dinner and I left a wee bit hungry. Overall the company was amazing, the wine was great!
Good food and service. But Bring earplugs. Too loud. Imagine a small bungalow stuffed with 40 people.
{Visited - Feb 4/17 at 9:30PM} FIRST VISIT! For moms birthday. Made Reservations. It was pretty full when we got there but a lot of people were already finishing dinner and leaving since it was late - almost at capacity I think, but it is a small restaurant. I will say the back area where we sat was a little dim and rather hard to read the menus, but it still provided a nice atmosphere. All of the food WAS EXCELLENT! There wasnt anything we didnt like. Pasta was UNLIKE ANYTHING Ive ever tried before and was definitely REAL ITALIAN cuisine. Dont come in thinking that you can eat and leave right away. There were people sitting around us that were sitting there before we got there and were still sitting after we left. I would not say the Service is slow but it is casual - it gives you time to digest your food and cleanse your palette and to actually have conversations with your friends/family. No one is trying to kick you out or rushing you to leave. Ordered: Two glasses of Pinot Grigio 6oz. Calamari Fettucini Alfredo Ravioli Di Madelena Special - Shrimp with Pesto and Lemon Pasta Tartufo and Tiramisu Total - $143 (before tip) It is a little pricer than most places, but you can tell this is REAL Italian food made in an authentic kitchen. Will ABSOLUTELY be coming back since we didnt get to do the Cheese Wheel >< Highly Highly recommend!
Had a birthday dinner with my wife. They gave us a beautiful window seat. Much appreciated! The waitress also gifted us a dessert with sparkling candle. Service was the best. Food was excellent.
