Kara Mia in Markham

Lovely restaurant filled with lovely people. The saffron poutine and Kara Mia Alfredo never fail to impress me. It s the manager s fault that I wind up here so often. Keep up the great work!

I had an amazing dining experience at Kara Mia Restaurant, and I must say the highlight was the incredible service provided by Joban. From the moment we were seated, Joban was attentive, friendly, and made us feel completely welcome. The food was just as exceptional. The Saffron Sauce was heavenly rich, creamy, and perfectly seasoned. It added such a unique flavor to the dish, making it unforgettable. As for the Spicy Cajun Fettuccine Pasta, it was an explosion of flavors! The spice level was just right, and the pasta was cooked to perfection. Joban made the experience even better by ensuring our meals were served promptly and checking in to make sure everything was to our liking. It s rare to find such impeccable service and delicious food in one place.

Consistent quality over a long time, and great service from Falif every time we visit

I ordered the spicy saffron steak medium rare and it was one of the worst steaks I ever had eating out, the saffron sauce was extremely lacking in flavour however the fries were quite good but were basically just Costco fries, my girlfriend ordered the penne steak pasta and it was somehow even worse than my steak, overcooked pieces of steak, pasta felt slightly undercooked and under sauced and just simply had no flavour, probably won t be visiting again

We love it here. We enjoy their food and consistency. We were celebrating two birthdays and the staff was soo accommodating and the food was so good. The saffron sauce is to die for. The pastas are always so good. The steaks cook is always on point. We also need you to please put the cream bulee on the menu please. It was sooo good I cant wait to come back and try it again.

Always enjoy coming to eat at Kara Mia. Its a family favourite! I order the delicious penne rose picante and my husband orders the steak and enjoys it too. Oh, the mushroom soup is amazing! Ive also been there for the Ramadhan specials, also great! We always get excellent and friendly service from the staff and the owner. The food is quick and the portions are great- always some left over for lunch the next day. Its nice to have a halal eatery to go to and enjoy! Definitely recommend! Cant wait to go back!

Literally drove from london to have their food and they closed at 9 despite google saying 1030 Super disappointed I had a party of 6 and we had to find alternative

best place Ive ever been to, so good that all other restaurants taste like crap now, my standards are now too high and its even better than the food back home in some respects. If I didnt have utmost respect for my mom Id almost say its close to her cooking, thats how good. And its halal ontop of that if you needed anymore reason. GO HERE

The staff were very nice and polite but the food was absolutely disappointing. The saffron Chicken was dry and had no taste. The fettuccine Alfredo was just mediocre.

The food is great, stuffs are very friendly. We went there to celebrate our friends birthday. They came out with a surprise birthday cake and we all were really overjoyed.

This was our first time back to Kara Mia in almost 2 years and we had an amazing meal. The steak was cooked to my liking, the saffron sauce was delicious and our waitress was awesome! Juveria was all smiles the whole time. I would highly recommend getting to know Kara Mia all over again! 2024 update: The food was served quickly, the price is still reasonable considering the quality of the meals.

Worst food. Please don t waste your money. It was our first time and we regretted a lot of spending 75$. Not at all tasty. However, the waitress was very friendly and polite. Thanks to her. I would never ever try this place again.

Called for a take out and the online timming says they close at 9:30 and at 9:15 the manager is telling me the staff has left and they are rapping up.

Most of our party enjoyed the food and the service was great. We got exactly as we ordered. Bill came to $260 for 5 people. Id say thats a bit more on the expensive side. As a halal option, its a great place, but check the menu and pricing before you go.

In my recent trip to restaurant after several years, I was quite disappointed with quality and quantity of food. It is not the same place anymore I used to love and visit frequently.

The food at this place is absolutely delicious and the staff are extremely friendly, would definitely return again. The Rosè sauce on their pasta especially is the best Ive had ! A small suggestion I have for the owner would be to dim the lights a little bit and have some background music for a better ambiance.

Great halal place for pastas! Their saffron dishes are unique and flavourful, def get the saffron poutine. The burgers and steaks are not the best but we typically go for pastas. I also really appreciate that they have a permanent little prayer corner!! Btw, kudos to the chef, food comes out really fast!

The food quality and taste were great.. good portions too and Halal options. The service was average. The washrooms (men s & women s) were not clean, wet floors, dirty toilet seats, no paper towels! And they force you to pay 15% tips! What if I wanna pay 10% or 12%? Frankly with these dirty washrooms and average service you don t deserve 15% service fees. My recommendation order their awesome food togo, i hope if you get the food as a takeout you don t need to pay 15% extra for nothing.

Very good experience

We went for the first time and had an absolutely Amazing experience. The food was excellent and so delicious. The serving size was very generous. Also, a huge shout out to Talha who was our server. He was so kind and friendly. He made our first time experience even more enjoyable. We definitely plan to be back.

Delicious food and large portion sizes. Service is very fast and professional. I will definitely be adding Kara Mia to my list of favourite restaurants!

Called 2 days straight at 10pm...they show closing time at 1030...but when u call, they say they closed early. Maybe then you should update your hours to say may close early so please order before x time.

Saffron chicken on rice was soo good. Chicken was very tender and juicy from inside. Little on pricey side but worth it.

I came here today with my friend. The food here was horrible. There is no taste in the food the presentation is amazing and the space is lavish but food is garbage. So tasteless and we barely ate the food. Wouldn t recommend this at all to anyone.

Service here was phenomenal, Waitresses were very friendly and manager was very understanding. That being said, The food here was not very enjoyable. I ordered a peppercorn poutine which wasnt your traditional poutine but was bearable. For the main, I had ordered a Chilly saffron steak done medium rare which came out well done, Had to send it back and came back just rare. Steak had no taste and was just drenched in sauce. Felt like me and my friend ordered sauce with a side of steak. Not very pleased with our visit and don t see myself coming back here.

Im lost for words. This place is truly a hidden gem. The food was fresh and delicious. The washrooms were clean and wow the service. I cant believe how amazing the staff were. I came to this restaurant a few weeks ago and forgot to write this review. I ordered the saffron chicken and fettuccine Alfredo. The food was A1 and the waiter awaeas I think his name was was delighted to help with all my requests. He loved to accomadate my needs and was so lovely. In the future 100% I will be back and hope to see Awaeas again.

I came a couple weeks ago to kara mia and least to say it was a wonderful experience I was delighted to have Awaes as my waiter he was very accommodating and respectful. I ordered a medium rare stake with chicken saffron. It was very delicious I had a wonderful time eating here.

Iftar menu during Ramadan had very few limited options. I chose the steak plate and there was only option of getting it well done. Would recommend this place after Ramadan!

Great place great food and above all great service. This restaurant is a treat after all this stay at home order and lockdown. We had a great time celebrating my husband and my sons birthdays at Kara Mia with the certious staff. Definitely 5 stars and recommend the place.

Always an excellent experience from customer service to food.

I am so upset at this place right now. I will leave a more detailed description of the encounter I just had. Simply put white non Muslim patrons can order of the regular menu while Muslim have to stick to a pre arranged iftar menu. If there is an opportunity to address this at a human rights level, believe my I will. Utter grotesque behavior from a resturant my family has supported since they were a small outfit in Vaughan. More to come, need to open my fast somewhere else.

Amazing Place with great food portions are huge

Its the only halal Italian place Ive ever been to, and Im so glad it exists! I have a lot of Muslim friends who only eat halal meat, and its nice to have an option beyond South Asian & middle Eastern food. The place is clean, and the food is great!

I forgot to take pictures of the food but they look very much like the photos on the menu. Their service was great. They even let us taste the sauces before deciding on which sauce we wanted on our stakes. I absolutely loved the Mango cheesecake slice that we had at the end. All in all it was good. We called and booked appointment for 8pm and was told we will have a table, reached the place at 7:57pm. They told us we are running late on table of we can wait for 5-10 mins. it s 8:28pm now and 5 family s who came late were seated before us. I guess we might be the only customers who have faced this issue, but worse management ever. May Allah grant you success in your business, but please remember you sent few people back hungry! FYI - never coming to this restaurant again and don t plan your weekends dinner at this place.

Feel like we were rush to leave after dinner, as last Bite and waiter come with bill and then little later cleaning table And also my steak was smashed to make it thinner and big according to chef ? Didn t understand that part ? Eating steak for last 15 years !

Kalil is one of the best waiter i have delt with. Definitely makes the guest feel welcomed and serves with love. Food is amazing highly recommended place to go.

I am not very excited to give them a 2 star rating. I am actually feeling very generous. If it was a non halal place i would probably have rated them only one star. We were a party of 16 people, visited today to celebrate a very special occasion. We all ordered different types of food, ranging from Burgers to steaks to Chicken Parmesan. All of them were somewhat below average in taste. Burgers were dry and too saucy. Steak was almost well done as compared to medium well of what we ordered Parmesan was again too saucy and chicken was over cooked Our server didn t even bother asking us how our food was. He knew exactly what we will say Cold drinks were half of what we ordered they were drinks not cold. We were given ice to make them cold Some of us live in Mississauaga. Some in Oshawa and some in Pickering. We all came to this place because it was in the middle and it was Halal. Pure disappointment was what we all got.

They have decent Italian food here. It s like a halal East Side Mario s/Montanas vibe. Very commercial and it didn t have much sitting. Our waiter seemed new and didn t know much about the menu. The older gentleman seemed very nice. Vegetarian options: They did have few vegetarian options. Dietary restrictions: They are a Halal restaurant and also have vegetarian options. Parking: It s in a crowded plaza and is quite packed. We had a hard time getting in, as few people parked right by the side walk if they were uber or pick up.

We like the food, but it s a mix of Italian and Asian flavours. Our Italian friend wasn t a big fan. It was spicy for them. Green pepper overtake the flavours of the pasta and Italian herbs. Service was excellent for take out catering. The chicken breast was smaller in size, it was not a full breast.

Service needs to be improved. It is not like before.

One of the biggest disappointments of my life. The gratuity was 15% but the behaviour of the server was beyond that. Coming to the food, the menu has so much complications and gaps. If you ask for the pasta on the side with the kara mia special, they will tell you you have only three choices, but the menu has no indication for it whatsoever. In addition to that, I asked for a medium rare steak, and half of it was medium rare, while the other half was raw. The chicken was extra salty and i think i have had much better ribs. Their accommodation was quite crammed up and the washroom was quite unhygienic and unclean. Not trynna be nit-picky here, but if you are spending 51 dollars for dinner at some place least you can expect is a good meal. Highly recommend for authorities to be more sincere about quality and not just focus on quantities, leading to making customers stand and wait 20 mins over their reservation time.

Most overrated restaurant in Ontario. Made us wait over 40 minutes from our reservation time, and denied us to reschedule to a bit later when asked over phone. Tried to rush me and my guests to order. Server tried to trick the group by speaking unclearly and even used cheap restless tactics to make us order nervously. Menu was very unclear (Karamia special). 2/10 accommodation 1/10 service 3/10 food (uncooked pasta, back ribs had 0 flavor). I do not know why i had to pay 15% gratuity for the group of 6 for this terrible experience.

Great Halal steakhouse in Markham! Went here for lunch on a Monday and loved it. The decor/atmosphere was clean, elegant, and welcoming. The service was amazing and all the staff were very friendly. Choose this place as my cousins from New Jersey wanted an Italian that s good and not too pricey. I picked this one and booked for 18 people and it did not disappoint me. All members of the family loves the food. Not too mentioned the great service of the waitress and waiter. Very attentive and made sure that everyone has their needs. They all thought that it s not an Italian restaurant because of the Halal but I would say, they served a great Italian food. Very tasty and just right with the tastes. I will definitely recommend it. Parking: There s a lot parking as it s located in the plaza. However, a bit hard to find in front of the restaurant as there s other restaurants besides it.

This is a decent halal italian restaurant with a nice family feel to it. The service was good, but the food didnt stand out to me. Ive only tried the pasta here, so maybe the other items taste better.

I ve given a 3 star based on what we ordered, but the customer service was really good and quick. I ordered the ribeye steak and fries. Steak didn t taste that good of quality. My son enjoyed his Chicken Parmesan, for me it was pretty bland. My wife ordered the rose penne pasta and she was happy with it. Like always, try it for yourself.

The menu showcased a wonderful fusion of flavors, it was evident fresh ingredients were used, and the presentation of the food was impeccable. The waitstaff were knowledgable and attentive. The service was prompt and excellent. Whether youre celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for comfort food, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit.

Most meals in Kara Mia are enjoyable for all ages, whether the individual is old, or young. From my personal experience my younger brother is a very picky eater, but he was very delighted by the delicious saffron poutine and the creamy fettuccine Alfredo which are both some of my favorites. Younger children have different experiences with food when it comes to flavors, but in Kara Mia the younger ones seem to enjoy the meals as much as the adults. I would definitely encourage people to stop by and dine in at the amazing kid friendly restaurant.

It s a nice place but not Italian and very lightly inspired . The pasta sauces have a sweet flavour to them and the sausage is beef (halal). Very friendly staff but a bit immature. They were joking in the back about diahrea while we were eating. Menu isn t clear so we were surprised with everything that came out. Not the place if you have a craving for Italian

Kara mia is our go to place for halal and family friendly steaks sit-down resturant. The staff is very humble, friendly and extremely accomodating. The food is always excellent and on point! The cook on the steaks was perfect and tasted great! Best part is that they followed every covid protocal to the T. Visting here is always worthwhile! This is a gem of a place! Definitely recommend! Return customer! Update: went in after a very long time and was again impressed by the kindness of the wait staff and the food taste. Worth every penny. HMA Certified Halal Italian food. One of the top spots in the GTA. Staff is very nice and kind. Food was amazing, I love the saffron sauce. The steak was also really good. Theres also a small prayer section in the back. Recommended dishes BBQ Steak, BBQ Ribs, Soup of the Day

Normally I don t write such negative reviews but my experience was nothing short of awkward and embarrassing. I went with my family because this place was great years ago, however it has quickly succumbed to the tier of fast food. The food: The food is not freshly prepared, the chicken breast on the pasta was so thin I laughed when I saw it. It was also distastefully chewy which shows how little meat they used because of how cardboard it felt. The pasta was way too spicy, I understand it s fusion and not authentic Italian but it didn t even taste like penne. Not to mention the quantity of the food, it was so poor in comparison to the asking price . The bread alone was 2 slices for $7-8!!!! I asked for Parmesan on top of my pasta and they declined and said it s additional to the cost of the cheap pasta because it s included in the price I mean seriously? Not only is there no complimentary bread, asking customers to pay for Parmesan is something I ve never seen at an Italian establishment. So embarrassing. Ambiance: The interior of the restaurant was dirty and unkempt, the foyer carpet was gross, however the prayer area was really touching to see. The service: Not great. At all. This will be my last time coming here They re halal dining certified.

This place is amazing! I had Penne, Silsiccia, Pasta di Carne and Fettuccine Kara Mia. All 3 pastas are great! The portion sizes are very good too. The food at Kara Mia was amazing! We had the Fettuccine Kara Mia, penne silsiccia (fave), and pasta de carne. The atmosphere was lovely & the staff were amazing! I was very pleased with the service. Their prices were also very reasonable. The best part was that it was Halal!! I highly recommend Kara Mia if you re craving some delicious pasta. Def must try if you re in the GTA.

This halal restaurant is excellent! From the service to the quality of food, they focus on exactly what they should. We have gone here quite a few times now, and they always make a point to attend to our specific dietary needs. We will continue coming back for sure, and I highly recommend this place to others!

Went here based on reviews and recommendations. Food was a major disappointment. I had the saffron rib eye. Sauce is overpowering and seems like it is all over the menu. My wife had their pasta not the best as well. Service was ok. Overall 2.5 out of 5. I dont think I would be back. Food

Not Really a very good experience especially the pasta is overcooked didn t make it al-dente. On top of that is very over priced. Definitely not worth for an Italian experience.
