Went there last week, the food was good not great, they only take cash which may sometimes be inconvenient and the noodles tasted burnt (perhaps the oil). i would not go back. During a busy lunch period they had no line which was a sign but I wanted to try it either way and glad i know. Sorry for the review but i am just being honest.
Very tasty Nanyang style black sauce fried rice. Sunny-side-up egg with crispy edges and the lava yolk was the highlight. Good prices as well!
I've only tried 2 items here, their Char Kwetiau and Nyonya Laksa. Some have been comparing them with one2snack so I thought I try them out. For char kwetiau, wok hei is there but taste wise I still like one2snack Char Kwetiau. Portion wise Gourmet Malaysia is slightly bigger but they are lot pricier. I find their Nyonya Laksa to be okay. But must say the auntie is friendly.
Hole in the wall serving authentic Malaysian food. The char kuay teow was delicious with authentic flavours and wok hei. Tastes just like the ones I had at street vendors in Malaysia.
Follow @bredgyeats for more food posts! Curry Laksa - Another hidden gem of the bunch, the curry laksa packs a comforting punch, something so satisfying with stuffing your face with a giant bite of egg and rice noodles, that provide a pleasant variance in texture while soaking up tons of that creamy laksa broth. The toppings include fried tofu, which are perfect sponges for the broth again, along with some chunks of chicken.
Review is based only on the Nasi Lemak. It came with a potato and chicken curry, peanuts, a sambal ikan bilis, cucumber and coconut rice. The ikan bilis was stir fried with onions but the onions must have been dried out or the outer layers of the onion because they had no flavour and were really chewy and dry, even despite being in a saucy-ish stir fry. The curry was also really thick from broken down potatoes, making the curry a bit gritty and watered down in flavour.
One of our favorite Malaysian restaurants and go to stall in first Markham Place food court. The Char Koay Teow and Nyonya Laksa are two of our favorite dishes. Portion size is quite generous as well! Their food is always served piping hot and extremely flavorful. The flavour is reasonably authentic with good wok hei! 🔥
After hearing some good comments about this shop, I was happy to give it a try. It was nice to finally find a place for Singaporean & Malay food. The lady owner was very friendly and made me felt welcomed. I ordered a Singapore Style Fried Vermicelli Noodle and a Penang Fried Kueh Teow. Both of them tasted yummy because it was fresh and made by order. It was pretty good for the price. I will definitely go back to try other items on their menu. This shop is a good choice if you want to grab something quick and go. Their service was efficient.
Fantastic curry laksa!! As described in suresh doss review. Will definitely be back. Not too spicy. Well balanced. Delicious seafood laksa flavour. Bean sprouts not overcooked. Generous portion for price. Exceptional.
Can taste the lemongrass. A nice thick rich broth. Right amount of spicy .
We had 46 ham yang fried rice for 12 dollars with tax and it was pretty good.
Laksa is not good, two noodles inside
Thai food and quite a few other noodle dishes on offer. Reasonably priced with a big plate of Pad Thai. Pretty good tasting. Friendly and efficient staff. Cooking took under ten minutes on a Saturday around 11am.
Number 27! Thing was good. Ask to replace shrimp with chicken and you have a banger
Absolutely the best laksa in Toronto! Really love it. This is my Laksa go to place! The fact that it s in a food court, there ain t any atmosphere at all
I never went to this place or have heard about it. I just wanted to try somethin different and wanted like a curry noodle laksa like ive had at 243 snacks in scarborough. This one just blows 243 out of the sky. This place just hits different. I wanted to go back on the 24th but they were closed on Christmas eve :( but tmrw I will be there . Miss this place already hah
We were at the First Markham place and decided to have lunch on their food court. There are very few places that offer a good Laksa. They had a Curry Chicken Laksa so I had to order it. I was pleased with the dish for the most part but I wish the flavour was stronger. The curry was really mild which was unfortunate. My search for a good Laksa continues in the GTA.
I had a craving for some dishes from my favourite Thai Malay restaurant on the planet. Tucked into the corner of the food court, this place never disappoints. I was in Markham ( which used to be daily occurence for work), and made a point of dropping in and getting 3 of my favourites (Curry Laksa, Singapore Noodles and Pad Thai). As always, the food was awesome, the portions filling and the prices very reasonable. I cant do them justice in a review. Some things need to be experienced. Some other of my favorite dishes from them Basil Fried Rice, Penang Fried Kway Teow, and Malaysian noodles. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed.
Their laksa is spicy, delicious and a must-try. Nasi lemak is decent.
Ordered Hai Nam Chicken rice, one of the most popular dish there. It comes with soup, and 2 sauces. Chicken is well made but you need to eat it with those sauces, one spicy and one taste like oyster sauce. Another dish i recommended is Laksa noodle (be mindful don t order if you are allergic to peanut).
Look no further for amazing Singaporean and Malay cuisine in a small, nondescript shopping mall food court. A small menu that often has several dishes sold out, but you really can t go wrong. Curry laksa and kueh teow are heavenly. Always look forward to a meal here!
Good quality ingredients, great taste, and good portions Wish they brought back fried chicken Recommended dishes
Best laksa in town! Food is freshly made upon order. The wait is around 10 mins. a distinctive coconut taste in a rich laksa broth. The egg noodle are chewy. Recommended dishes
Ordered Penang fried keow teow, it was safe and ordinary, regretted not trying something else.
I love the Hainan chicken rice here. The price is low yet it is still easily one of the best Hainan chicken rice in the Markham. Ive tried several other dishes here and they are only ok. If they happen to run out of the Hainan chicken rice, Id take my business to one of the many other restaurants in the food court or the mall. Despite this, the Hainan chicken rice carries them to a 5 star rating.
Nothing here
Not a bad choice if you like Malaysian Food.
Authentic Malaysian food..you can buy sambal too, sedapnya!
Food was reasonably authentic of Malaysian favourites, but could be spicier. However, the wait for your food is quite long, and they only accept cash which isn t the most convenient.
Tried Nasi Lamak here. Food was okay but the young lady at front was horribly rude. She asked if we want take out or having at the food court. We opted having here. Still she packed our food. I corrected her saying we want to have here. Her reply was shocking. Take the tray, and open the plastic and have. Everything s inside. I mean she definitely hated her job at front, but that shouldn t reciprocate to our suffering, we are paying for the food. Will try other places around, people are much humble.
Good food! Pad Thai is yummy!
My fav place at the FMP food court
Used to be a place that you can enjoy a signature dish Nasi Lemak and Hainanese Chicken Rice (Boneless). However, the Singapore Style Fried noodle was so bad this time, hope the restaurant is getting better next time...
Drove here to try Hainanese chicken rice and feel so bad for people who think it s good chicken - no flavour, rice - no flavour, sauces - store bought meh. Extra star for the broth
2023 November 4 Review Based on Penang Fried Kueh Teow $10.50 Pretty good. Has the heat and traditional flavors youd find in Malaysia. Portions are ok. It was recommended to me and I would recommend this dish as well.
While the line and wait may be long, it s a go to for me every time I visit FMP. I like that they always make my mi goreng super spicy when I ask!
The Laksa and Mee Goreng are authentic. Every bite takes you back to Singapore. Same taste just like the one s in the Hawker Center. The best place in GTA to try Malay/Sg cuisine.
Ordered 31. Kuala Lampur Mee Goreng, under the recommendation that it was an authentic and delicious dish. Definitely not disappointed at all. If your only experience with mee goreng is the instant noodle, the taste might be unexpected, but it is incredible either way. Generous portions and friendly, fast service makes this a must-stop in the FMP food court.
Best authentic Malaysian dishes. Our go to dishes: Penang Prawn noodles, Curry Laksa & CKT.
Decent Malaysian Chinese stall type food. Recommended
Take out #46 is good and flavourful. Good price missing Singapore and Malaysian food.
Great Malay food
Good food!
My go to place for curry laksa! Big bowl for still a reasonable price. Properly spicy with all the right flavours. The owners are really nice and Im glad they were able to stay open through the pandemic times.
Liked it. Great value. Will return.
Best laksa weve had outside of Malaysia! Penang fried noodles were also awesome! Portions were very generous.
authentic malay food
The taste is a bit bland. The fried noodles are too wet. The chicken and the dried tofu have gone bad.
Very good food and great value
My go to Laksa place in York Region. It s spicy, creamy and flavourful. They re generous with toppings and the price is still good at $10.50. My second favourite is the Penang Shrimp Noodles. I love the Sambal that comes with it. It s flavourful but not as heavy than the Laksa. Both come with a combination of thick egg and thin rice noodles. Good contrast in textures. These soup noodles are very satisfying on a cold autumn/ winter day.
I could only give 2-3 stars if focus on the food quality. It s not really bad but the fry noodle is way too salty and a bit over cooked. Laksa noodle is quite spicy, taste is fine but not excellent. Price is ok, around $10 each dish. Owner couple is friendly. I hope can change the spoon- The tiny spoon is not even able to carry 1pc of noodle
Amazingly delicious food
My favorite restaurant in the GTA hands down. Their Curry laksa is fantastic and reminds me of what Ive had at the hawker centers in Malaysia. You can distinctly taste the ingredients of the dish, and the service is amazing. Try the mamak nasi goreng too! Love the runny egg yolk!
My family has been coming here for years and they easily have the best Malaysian food in Markham, if not Toronto. We have driven across Toronto to try many different places but none can compare to the taste and value of Malay Thai. We always get the curry laksa, wat tan hor and mee goreng. All are excellent, make sure you specify your spice levels! The nasi goreng and char kway teow are also very good and have great flavour. The portions can t be beat for the price, and the food is just so satisfying and comforting. A tip is to call ahead for pickup to avoid the wait.
Hope they can work with DoorDash
Been visiting this spot located in First Markham Places foodcourt for many years. The taste takes me back to the food streets in Malaysia. Run by a husband and wife team who also had restaurant experience in Malaysia. Great service as others have mentioned. Dont be afraid to ask for recommendations from their menu!
Love this place!
Amazing nasi lamak!!
Their famous curry chicken with rice got me going back twice within the same weekend
Love this place for a quick bite. Owners are always friendly. They offer a few of their menu items with a choice of chicken, beef, tofu or shrimp. My only complaint is that it would be great if they offered a mixed one (a little bit of each).
Malay Thai has a good selection of Malaysian/Thailand and Indonesian dishes, generous portions with reasonable price. My family and I have been their regular since 2003. The owner, Christine and her husband are always friendly. From the menu, their special rice noodles (wat tan ho) is always our favourite, along with their fried milk chicken, Penang fried kueh teaw, Malay style vermicelli and many more. They won t disappoint you and you will want to come back
Love this place! Such amazing food and Christine and Alex are amazing. They make the best Malaysian food weve found. Tastes are very authentic and portions are a good size.
I had the shrimp Pad Thai from this place, and Ill say its exceedingly average. Its really lacking some authentic fish sauce and tamarind flavour, and there were only 6-7 baby shrimps too, so it was a little disappointing. However, it was pretty cheap, and the portion size was huge, and since Im feeling nice, Id give it a 4/5; go try it if you want an affordable, filling meal.
I got the Hainan Chicken Rice here. It was very good. The rice was quite tasty and the chicken tasted very fresh. Good experience overall.
Ordered the Penang char kway teow and boy was it good. It had strong smokey wok flavor I associate with ckw, it could just use a pinch more salt but still very good. The ingredients in it was pretty standard shrimp, fish cake, etc, but it really was the wok hey that put that up one of the better Malaysia spot around. Will definitely try their other dishes next time
Unimpressed. Struggling to leave a 3-star review even. Sizable portions but taste is not authentic Malaysian / Thai. We ordered the Laksa Noodles and Thai Basil Chicken with Rice. Were disappointed with both. Laksa curry gravy was quite watery. Basil Chicken was too salty and not spicy at all. We left over 60-70% of the food untouched.
Very good food. Good service.
Absolutely loved the fried chicken with milk, which was authentic (Im Malaysian)! Great staff as well.
It clean very convenient.
Best Chicken Rice ever! I have been to many spots for Hunan Chicken Rice, by far this is the best and most affordable spot in the GTA! Almost every dish is amazing.. Highly recommend.!!!
Authentic Malaysian style food at a fraction of price compared to sit in Malaysian restaurants. Recommend Curry Laksa, Penang Fried Kway Teow and Hokkien Noodle. I recommend this place
Got the Penang prawn noodle and tasted alright. Could use more flavour but overall good
This place has delicious southeast Asian stir fry noodles and rice. I haven t tried much of their other dishes but my go-to item is their char kuey tiao, the fries flat rice noodle. I usually ask for extra spicy and it is delicious. It has some shrimp and eggs and is big enough for 1.5 to 2 meals for me. Highly recommend. You can also call ahead to order as well.
Penang char kwei teow was good. Laksa was descent. Liked the light curry soup.
Nice place and priced right!
good price
Yummy in my tummy. The roast chicken paitai is bomb here . I would def go again . Thanks for the warm welcoming when I first went in as well. Nice drinks and nice staff.
Ordered the basil fried rice today and it was mediocre but the mee goreng is really worth a try! Tough to find this place while its surrounded by similar stores in a food court but glad I checked it out!
Good consistent malay dishes. Fried noodles/rice are always tasty. Fried chicken dishes are always fresh and crispy. Dont forget to get their laksa.
Always the best, affordable and authentic Malaysian taste you can get
Laksa was really good!
Cheap and good Malaysian food
Love their Veggie curry laksa, just can t go wrong with that supersized delicious bowl full of curry, vegetables and tofu!
Food -4 Service-4 Deco-3 Cleanliness-4 Value for the price-4.5
Their curry laksa is highly recommended. I didnt try any other dishes, as I always order the same laksa to ease my craving. Try it if you like spicy food and coconut milk.
Fast food place with good Thai food. Their curry chicken and laksa with yellow noodles are really good.
Ive been on the hunt for the perfect laksa, after consuming many many bowls of that goodness in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. This is now my go-to place. Delicious, cheap, great service, and ...just so good!
Great place for affordable Malaysian/Thai food.
Malay Thai Famous Cuisine, 3255 Hwy. 7, Markham, received a closure order Aug. 17 for failing to provide adequate protection against the entrance of insects, vermin, or rodents.
Decent food at decent price with generous portions.
Good
Fried Singapore noodle were pretty rough. 2 stars for the service, food was pretty mediocre.
Very good take out Malaysian food. I often order here when I come to this food court.
Great Malaysian food. Usually get their Chicken rice or laksa. Women cashier is friendly. Would only suggest clean up the place as the walls looked a bit dirty, but food was delicious.
Delicious and cheap Malaysian food. NasiLemak and curry laksa are just like home! So so good!
Love the laksa
