Great but a bit salty

One of the better ramen places around, this satisfies which most often isnt the case when I go for ramen at a similar price point elsewhere. The ramen : - The broth is very rich (which I enjoy- a personal preference) - The pork belly is strongly imbued with flavor and has a silky texture - The garnishes are balanced in texture, flavour, and quantity. - The noodles are fresh, perfectly al dente, and taste nice. Some restaurants cook the noodles too soft and I find they taste very generic. My only reservations about Sansotei are that the price is very steep ($18 before tax and tip for thr tonkotsu black, my aunt ordered the spicy miso which was $19, and most other bowls are slightly more). I find this to be a lot for what is offered in the dish and experience, and the portion is unlikely to be adequate for many. The appetizers are also nothing to rave about - the seaweed salad is good but not memorable, and the gyoza isnt nearly as fresh or flavourful as a traditional homemade dumpling. Finally, the service is awkward and dry. This being said, Id come back if Im in the mood for ramen and have a tamer appetite that day.

Favourite Ramen place! Great value and generous toppings! The Spicy Tan Tan is different and a nice change from the traditional offerings, their black garlic one is done very well here also! I give them 9/10!

I have never experienced such poor service. I ordered my dishes with a young man. But, 30 minutes later, nothing came. When I asked another waitress, she said my order was not placed. It ruined my day. I will not come this location anymore. Sansotei in Richmond Hill is much better than here in any aspects. SERVICE NEEDS TO BE IMPROVED URGELY!!!

Was in a rush so came here for ramen. Food was served quick and the broth was flavourful. Egg was the sweet side but the yolk was done well. Would come back

Service was nice. Ordered the guydon , absolutely terrible, Irealize that restaurant has to manage costs however where was the beef?it was all fat and not even cooked to render the fat. And there was perhaps two small pieces of carmelized onions. Should have just ordered a bowl of rice.

One of my favourite ramen spots. I ve tried different dishes here but I always go back to the tomato ramen. That broth is special. It s a nice slightly sour/savoury broth. Other notable favourites are the gyudon and gyoza.

Food was tasty. We came at lunch hour so servers were quite busy and we had to flag them down for napkins and water refills. Definitely one of our top spots for ramen. Will be back!

Phenomenal Ramen Shop, nice atmosphere and ambience, speedy food service. My personal favourite is the Tonkotsu Plus, the perfect bowl of noodles, everything in this bowl is perfection, from the pork belly (chashu) to the savoury truffle oil broth, to the other meats and shiitake mushrooms. The speedy service is what gets me coming back so often, it elevates the overall experience 10 fold.

Excellent ramen place. Their spicy tantan is soo yummy ( although on a recent trip it was a bit too salty). The veg dish is excellent as well. Except for this one time, In general I have always been happy with this restaurant. Good service and good food.

Everything is either too salty or tasteless. Ordered a spicy ramen, the soup is way too salty. Original fried chicken is way too salty. Fried corn is tasteless. Maybe the chef should do a taste test before serving their dishes.

I have been to lots of Sansotei locations but never got food poisoned before, tonight after having the ramen from this location, we were food poisoned. I am not sure what went wrong with the ramen, will not order again.

Been here a few times now. Smaller place and communal tables are used. Food comes out quick and staff are decently pleasant. Overall I would return here when Im in the area and craving ramen. I also do recommend to those who are nearby and like ramen to give this place a try!

Im shocked by how small the portion is for a $20 ramen... theres probably only 6 scoops of broth in this container...

Very tasty ramen. Good service. However they re a bit more expensive than some other ramen places I ve been to and not that much better *cough ajisen cough* $18 + tax /tip for the tonkatsu black at the time of writing this review

Sansotei still hits. Can t go wrong with the Tonkatsu black or the Miso Black. Tried the gyudon today but wasn t really a huge fan. Definitely a nice grab and go kind of restaurant especially in winter time.

A place for traditional Ramen . Ramune drink is good with Ramen. Fewer choices for dessert. Price seems little higher. Vegetarian options: Mazemen is a vegetarian option. Parking: It s possible to park in the open area of the complex

Second time doing a takeout order and I was shocked at how little broth you receive for an $18 bowl of ramen. Weve ordered out at other Ramen spots and never had issues with the amount given (such Ajisen, Kenzo, Kinton). Not sure if they provide more broth if dining-in but please be aware that the amount of broth provided is ridiculous. An $18 bowl of ramen should not have less than 1/3 of broth. Calling them to explain resulted in going nowhere.

Ramen noodles tasted good with good service. It would be perfect if the size of the noodles portion is bigger.

If you say that s ramen, in Japan standard I can say it s below average, no matter the temperature of the soup, the soup base or the texture of the ramen. Only the egg and the chashu can say is ok. There are better ramen even in 15 min drive so probably I won t visit this again

I came on a Friday night and was lucky to get a table. My party of 4 didn t wait at all. I ordered the Spicy Tan-Tan noodles with thick noodles. Flavours are good and the thick noodles are chewy. The rest of my party ordered Tonkotsu Black. They loved it. I did get to try the thin noodles and I would say that I still prefer the thick noodles. I think it s worth it to order a side of extra noodles (+$2). The food comes out fast. It got a little busy later at night and there was only one server around, so the service slowed down. But she was still very attentive and met all our needs. Overall, it s a good ramen spot if you ever want a quick hearty meal.

The price of ramen is inexpensive that I can come often. I usually go to the one at Yonge Street and this is my first time to this location. I ordered a Simple Set comes with a Shio Ramen and a Chasui Rice. I have a small stomache so I can only finished the ramen and I made the rice as takeaway. My 2 friends ordered Tonkatsu ramen with thick type noodles this time. They are delicious!

We waited 15mins for our table which wasnt too bad. They were super busy, so things took longer than usual. The ramen I got Tonkotsu black was very rich with bold flavours. Its was decent portion. The restrooms were fairly clean as well, considering the rush so I appreciated that. The deepfried chicken wings were amazing, wish the portions were bigger.

GET THE TOMATO ONE!!!!!!!! I LOVEEEE tomato soup/broths so this one was soooo good. It was a bit too thick for my liking (I wouldve preferred it to be a bit more watery) but the flavour was on point. Plus there are these little mushrooms that are sweet, which sounds weird, but they were so good. They kind of tasted like sukiyaki broth-sweetness? I also really enjoyed the soft chasiu piece and the scallop. The karaage appetizer was also really juicy and delicious. I think you can only do walk-ins so try to go at a less busy time or be prepared to wait about 30 min, even on a weekday

Authentic Japanese ramen, the noodles are chewy and the dumplings are delicious. And the price is very reasonable, only the barbecued pork and roasted fruit are a little salty.

Best ramen in Markham

Back a few years ago when I was still a college student, I used to visit their SQ1 location multiple times a week. But now I find the broth contains too much salt, if they can reduce salt, I will still rank it as one of my favourite Ramen restaurants.

We had Tonkotsu and Miso Black they both deliver authentic Japanese ramen taste. They are so close to original however my only concern is the ajitama egg yolk being raw.

Nice atmosphere and tasty ramen. Peach sake was sweet and mild, I loved the taste. However, the beverage was overpriced. Overall, we had a good experience.

authentic japanese Udon. The best part of the meal is the noodles. a bit on the pricey side but havent found udon with better bite/texture around GTA better than this place yet.

Delicious ramen. Nice casual spot for a quick bite to eat, would recommend going when they open as seats fill up quick.

Great service and really great food!

Ive been here before pre-covid and the ramen was good. Today is the first time since covid coming back and doing take out. I appreciate the restaurant having online ordering and allows for pre-ordering for a later time. However, Im a little disappointed by the take-out experience. I ordered extra corn for my daughters meal but they didnt add it even though I was charged for it. The restaurant wasnt even busy because there was only one table of people and no one else at that time was getting take out. Its too little of a thing to go back but annoying that it wasnt included. Good thing the extra meat for my sons meal wasnt left out. My other disappointment is related how the food was packaged. It looked cute with a bowl for the soup and a little cardboard box for the noodles and toppings. However, since the noodles had to be transferred to the bowl of soup its a bit messier and all the toppings end up at the bottom. It would have been much easier if the noodles and toppings were already put into a bowl container and a separate container of soup can just be added on top. Its better for take out that the soup is separate so that the noodles dont sit in the soup for so long and get all mushy. I think Ill only go back after things go back to normal and we can eat safely at the restaurant. March 2023 update: went back to the restaurant, good food quality, quick service. There seems to more things on the menu.

The ordinary soup base does not have the flavor of pork bones + garlic oil, and the portion is small. Adding noodle base will not make enough soup. You can add soup base for extra money The noodles are thin, overcooked and a bit watery. I also ordered thick noodles, but the waiter didnt ask whether they would be served together or later. They were served in one go, and they were cooked more watery than thin noodles. After eating the thin noodles, the thick noodles have become a piece of paste. The dumplings have a thick skin and are not crispy enough when fried.

Ramen was pretty good.. Places to sit at the bar table near the kitchen.. Note the tables are large and is mostly shared unless you have a large group of eight..

Flovourful broth, great noodles with the right amount of firmness. Helpful and great service. Tantan mien (spicy) is limited per day so if you plan to order that ask first! Tomato is rich with a yummy scallop on top in addition to charshu. The black garlic oil soup bases are also a must try. Tried both dine in and take out and their food is always on point! Kid-friendliness: For younger kids, suggest to add extra noodles / toppings to a parents order rather than order an extra bowl that the kids cant finish. Also ask for unflavoured soup (free) to top up the soup.

If you do not like being in a crowded area where people could watch your mouth move as you eat or fumble with your chopsticks, then this place isnt for you! Its a walk-in restaurant that doesnt need reservation. I like that, lol. I want to spontaneous sometimes. There is a scan code on the tables to see the meun, or you could request a physical copy of the menu. Then, the waitresses were so kind. I mean, they would explain to you what the bowl of ramen youre choosing from entails if you ask. You would be offered chop sticks and a scoping spoon, but forks are available too if you ask. However, the cooking area, which is right opposite the bathroom door and open for eyes to see. The cooking space looked kind of very unkempt. I would like to defend them that it could be because of the amount of people and order they have to meet, but then again, I wonder if the bowl they serve with was thoroughly cleaned and dried? So, No, aint defending. Its a 4 star for me Vegetarian options: Yes, theres a vegetarian option. Never ordered that, but it stated on the menu. Kid-friendliness: Errm, just because I see kids in eating too so..yes. I think it is.

Visit this place pretty often as it s pretty close to my home. Their broth is pretty good. But you will feel pretty thirsty afterwards.

Mushrooms in tomato ramen are too salty

I came here for ramen for the first time. I got the tonkotsu dish and the pear sake to share. The pear sake was too expensive. I liked the food and would eat here again.

Very very salty ramen. I ordered a less salted version but it was still very salty, the soup is not really tomatoes flavor either. (Though it looks like it). Never coming back again..

The service was fairly fast. $15-$18 bowls so it is fairly affordable. The Ramen broth tasted more flavourful than other places I ve had in the area and the noodles and beef were great aswell. The only downside I could see was the small servings that although were enough for me, i could imagine others still being hungry.

Fave ramen spot in Markham. Creamy and delicious tonkatsu broth. Get the extra shiitake mushrooms to take it to the next level. The zangi fried chicken is a great starter.

Sansotei does have smaller portions compared to some other ramen places like Ajisen, but the broth at sansotei is very good.

Best ramen in Markham. Went here for dinner recently and ordered the Black Tonkatsu Ramen and the Tonkatsu Ramen for the kids. Needless to say we loved it. The flavour is simply amazing as always with perfectly grilled cha-shu and yummy marinated soft boiled eggs.

Sansotei never disappoints me! I got their Tonkotsu black and it was so flavourful and delicious. I was worried that it was going to be heavy or too greasy, but it was not too heavy at all. From the noodles to the soup broth, everything seemed like it was meticulously cooked and you can really taste the love they put in. Overall, Sansotei is definitely one of the best ramen spots in the GTA in my opinion.

Great ramen dishes .. authentic and delicious

I was staying in a hotel a few minutes away from here. I placed an order for Tonkotsu Ramen with extra noodles for take out. When ordering they had an option to keep the noodles and broth separate, which was great. The ramen was really good and the portion size was fine. I usually end up with a lot of broth left over, which is why I ordered extra noodles so I could drop them in when I finished the first set of noodles. I don t have any complaints about this place. Parking: There is a large parking lot with plenty of parking including handicap spots

I ordered the Zangi (7.00 CAD), the Original Tonkatsu with thick noodles and an extra egg (15.50 CAD + 2.00 CAD per egg), and the Spicy TanTan with thick noodles (15.50 CAD). Unfortunately, the Zangi dish was devoid of any flavour and lacked seasoning. The Tonkatsu broth was also quite bland and the soapy texture of the noodles affected the taste of the broth, making it taste soapy as well. The Spicy TanTan only had a hint of spiciness but lacked any real flavour. I was particularly disappointed with the egg in the ramen, as it was not only cold but also unseasoned, failing to meet my expectations for authentic Japanese cuisine. The seating at the restaurant was spacious and comfortable with booth seatings available. However, the ambience was only mediocre and the service was lacking. The server was friendly but never returned after taking our orders. Despite the restaurant not being busy during my visit, which was around 5 pm to 6 pm, I was still surprised that the service was not better. On the positive side, there was free parking available at the restaurant. In conclusion, I was extremely disappointed with my dining experience at this particular Sansotei Ramen franchise location. The food was not enjoyable and lacked flavour, and the service was lacking as well. I would recommend the Sansotei Ramen located at 9555 Yonge St Unit #12, Richmond Hill, ON L4C 9M5 over this location, as it proves that not all franchises have the same quality food. kellychan360

Plenty of parking but I think it gets crowded on most evenings. We only had to wait 15 minutes to get a seat. The interior is well thought of and so creative. The ramen we got was delicious along with the presentation. You can ask/ adjust the level of spice you d like so that it s not too spicy. Overall, We really enjoyed our meal! 10/10!

Arrive before lunch/dinner rush as it can get very busy. Ramen broth is very rich and delicious - I recommend the Tonkatsu Black. I like to ask for chili oil on the side as it adds a nice spice.

Ordered a tonkatsu black ramen and unfortunately the pork that came with it was rancid. The fat in particular tasted rotten. Server was apologetic and immediately said I wont be charged. Needless to say I wont be coming back there. The rotten taste of the pork still lingers even after hours had past eating it.

The specials were sold out by the end of the day so if you want them probably go earlier. I got the tomato ramen, the broth was a bit mild, not as tomato-y as I would have liked but I probably like tomato too much. The mushrooms were good, very sweet. Ordered online for pickup but wasnt ready at the requested time even though I had ordered 30 minutes ahead. Ended up waiting for another 10 minutes when I really needed to grab something quick and go. The ramen was good even though it was takeout. It was annoying that they didnt give me a spoon. I decided to grab a quick meal at 12 PM today and oh my gosh it was the worst decision of our life first of all their broth is so water down to the point where it taste like water and salt combined it was extremely salty and then after we both got back, we got explosive diarrhoea which means everything here is not fresh and the pork here tasted like it went bad so I m not sure what they re doing. And to be honest, I should be calling the York, regional health officer to come check out their place, because they would definitely fail because the things in here are not clean enough or some thing that s why everyone has so many problems, including myself I ve I ve had explosive diarrhoea five times now.

Had the miso black ramen. Broth was rich and flavourful. Chashu, Spicy Kakuni, Egg, Shiitake, Garlic Oil. Chashu and kakuni was moist and delicious. Egg was perfect.

Service was horrible... walked in and was waiting to be seated, the place was not busy and 2 wait staff were serving the table by the door and did not make eye contact or acknowledge our existence... we decided to just walk to the empty table and ask them if it was ok to sit there which they nodded... disappointed... Food was well on the salty side ..

Has the tonkotsu ramen and some seaweed salad. We came for early dinner on a Saturday and didn t have to wait (two of us). Noticed a lot of young families at this time and was not as easy for them to get seated quickly as they can only want place high chairs at the tables and not the booths. Service was great, note that menu is online only. They didn t have any tantanmen available when we went- we would ve ordered that as one of ours. Parking: Amount of parking is good, though peak meal time is busy on weekends.

Genuinely bad ramen at this location. Got the black garlic miso ramen and it was salty af. Granted we did go in close to closing time but if you re going to serve us, serve properly. I m a fan of Sansotei but def won t come back to this location

Really nice interior with cool noodle shaped lights. Ramen tasted very good, but they did mess up one order and instead of thick they gave thin noodles, and they didnt change it.

This used to be my go to ramen shop in Markham, but the ramen quality has deteriorated. The noodles were not fully cooked when I recently came for lunch.

Came with my family today. The menu was posted on the pvc divider, it was hard to read the menu. Ordered Tonkotsu+, the meatballs were cold inside. The waitress gave us two new meatballs, still they were not full cooked. The chashu was cooked before, therefore they were cold as well. No public wifi. Poor signal while sitting in the restaurant. Don t think we will come back again as there are many better options out there for same price.

Taste decent. Got the tonkatsu but the portion is extremely small for the price of $16? The eggs in the ramen were literally cold when I put it on my tongue to eat. Also, the thin noodles were so chewy, did not taste good at all. Got the fried chicken too. It was 7$ and I only got 5 pieces in a tiny bowl with a lemon. If each piece of chicken is 1$, the lemon was 2$. Personally will not be coming back anytime soon.

Unfortunately not nearly as good as it used to be. - The soup base isnt as rich as it was before - The gyoza was cold and under cooked. The skin was also broken for one if them - The slow cooked wings was too salty and looked completely unappealing. - Inexperienced staff gave us the wrong order. But corrected the mistake right away. Credit where credit is due - Food arrived very quickly - Pork belly is nicely cooked and delicious.

A yummy Japanese Ramen shop in uptown Markham area!

We really like to go for ramen here. Their broth tasted rich and the texture of the noodles was just right (not too soft & not too hard). The quality was always consistent and the service was good. They did a good job keeping social distance after they reopened. My overall experience was great! It s been a while since we came here for ramen. Although we saw a few negative comments about the food, but we still wanted to give them a chance. We ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen and Tonkotsu Black Ramen with thick noodles plus two appetizers (Fried Chicken & Fried Japanese Dumplings). The ramen tasted the same as before. It was good and not like what the others said. The two side appetizers were not as good as expected. The overall service was ok and the waiting time was short. It s a good ramen place to try if you happen to be in the area.

Great ramen joint for a quick lunch, ordered the Miso Black Ramen with the thick noodles, rick tasty broth, Char-Siu had a good balance of fat & lean meat, nice prompt and efficient staff, very quick service.

I ate there twice in the last three years and felt sick both times. The pork broth is rancid. the place is dirty , the food is awful and expensive. two of my co workers had the same experience.

Love the noodle texture and the broth was rich. However, my Tomato ramen had a slight fishy smell (maybe because of the scallop?), but still overall delicious!

Terrible take out service! We ordered three TONKOTSU BLACK! But we realized that it s NO BLACK OIL in it! This situation is not first time! We ordered before has same situation! It s very terrible experience! They won t double check with take out order!!!!!

Noodles are very salty. Even though I ordered less salty, it still tasted very salty and I have to keep drinking water now. It is not good for health though. I would completely step away from this restaurant in the rest of my life.

The noodles are perfectly cooked, the pork broth is out of this world. The eggs are perfectly boiled, the pork is amazing. Put all that together it makes the best ramen I ve ever had. Forget I stay ramen, this is worth every penny of it. The staff are also very polite. I highly recommend.

I was sick so I asked for extra soup and they gave me unflavored broth. They were very nice.

Good ramen spot. Broth tasted good and chasu was also very soft. Noodle had good texture (got the thick noodle). Service was good. Overall pretty good.

I rarely find a bad ramen place - this is the worst ramen Ive ever had in my past 15 years of trying different ones around the world, period. The soup had a soapy taste, my wife couldnt even finish hers. Theres a weird MSG taste left in our mouth after the meal. Fried chicken pieces also had a taste of old oil being used. I typically give places another try, but this is one place that Id avoid giving my hard earned money.

Food was delicious, far exceeded my expectation. Servers were friendly and asked me if I would like some water or tea when seated. The speed of service was great and I did not have to wait long for food. Definitely, I would come back again!

The noodle is not even hot (only warm), and the waiter keep forgot which bowl belongs to whom.

Tokatsu ramen is still the best. However, this location is still not as good as the first downtown location. Soup base is not as rich as downtown one.

Dinner here numerous times since they opened. Tastes as good as ramen in Japan! Tasty huge selections of broths, noodles and toppings. Friendly & fast service. Parking is conveniently located just in front of restaurant in a large plaza. Highly recommended!!
