Hot Star Large Fried Chicken in Markham

Ordered cheese chicken and korean wings. Both were still raw! One staffed member blamed me and said I was the only one coming back and everyone else ate it. I showed it to all the customers waiting in line since they blamed me and they all left the line after seeing how raw the chicken was lol.

I would recommend the Korean Large Fried Chicken and I love the Korean sauce. It s spicy and taste really good.

The food was not prepared in a very clean way, I came home with diarrhea and was really very disappointed

After not eating it for a while, the taste is drastically different... The skin is not crispy at all, there is very little sauce, and there is no taste at all... It is soft and tastes terrible. I will not come back again...

The receptionist had a very bad attitude. She was so shameless. I ordered the original plum chicken steak. I misheard it, so I asked her to sprinkle some powder on it and pay 50 cents for the chicken crow.

After eating less than half of it, I realized that it was not cooked at all. It was completely raw. I was worried about diarrhea.

I stopped talking. He came to speak for me.

The chicken is made fresh and comes out super hot, crispy and crunchy! The girl working the counter was very disinterested in helping customers. Menu is simple, They should just have self service kiosk & save on labor cost. Great food! Good value!

I went there on Saturday Jan 20 2024 around 6pm, the female cashier who wore glasses was just sat there played with the phone, she sat at the corner lower than the cashiers counter, so I didnt recognized there was a person, just thought they were busy in the kitchen, later when she stood up & held her phone in hand, then I knew she was busy with her phone & let me stood there wait for her leisure time, when she saw my face without any patience, she even have NO sorry to kept me waiting for almost 10 mins, very no manner! chicken steak with bone very nonsense, wont buy again, black list

Food is fine, but the service was pretty bad. The clerk keeps us waiting for 10 minutes after our food was ready and she didnt brother letting us know. If you dont want to work here, go find another job.

The fried chicken is soggy. And the women staff is extremely rude. I ll suggest Monga if you want some real good food n service.

Worst customer service. They asked me to take another person s order because no one picked up that order (or because they made a mistake who knows) But that order was on the counter for a long time and not warm anymore! It s ridiculous that they gave me attitude and became very rude because of me not taking another person s order. Will never come back and will spread the words to people around me

I ordered Hot Star fried chicken for a quick snack, but the size of the chicken is huge! It was definitely better to share. The Korean style flavor is a lil bit spicy but delicious. The only downside was the disorganized ordering and the lineups- literally had two people try to take my food when my number was called.

bad experience! bad attitude!

Arrived at 7:20, stood there in line waiting to order. They served the people in front of me but when the server eventually acknowledged me and refused to serve me because they were closed when they don t close until 7:30. They were still open at 7:41pm and had processed two other orders since.

It is said to be very famous in Taiwan. I ate it for the first time today. The original chicken steak was really big. The taste is also OK. I havent encountered the problems mentioned in other comments yet, and I hope I wont.

The Special BBQ Sauce, I would pass on. It was a bit to soggy for me. The Cheese fried chicken was great. The cheese was only on one side of the chicken. I thought it would be throughout the piece. It is what it is.

Really bad customer service.

Tasted like the other hot star locations which was great. The portion was good and the pieces didnt have much bone so thats good. Service was not great though, they looked like they really didnt want to be there or care about anything... Overall, its decent but the service was off putting.

Today I ordered a chicken steak that cost about 13 yuan, and I gave her 15 yuan in cash, and she walked away. When she came back, she gave me the bill and told me to wait for 15 minutes. Then I said, don t you want change? ? She just found the money and threw it to me? ? ? Then he kept a straight face and threw the chicken steak at me without saying thank you when he got it. His attitude was extremely bad.

I haven t eaten it for a long time. I bought one today. I don t know how long it s been since the oil was changed. It s dark and tastes bad. The burnt smell is very strong.

I ordered two chicken steaks! Cumin and salt and pepper flavor! The kitchen chef in the back didnt even wear a mask and shouted to the cashier, How can I use cumin, pepper and salt? what? Not together at the same time? Is there a rule that these two cannot be put together? Even you cant put on a bad face and shout, then run to the kitchen and throw something into the kitchen! If you dont like the job, you can resign from your boss instead of making a bad face to customers and colleagues! No one owes you anything! The epidemic is so serious and you don t wear a mask to fry chicken?

Their crispy fried chicken is delicious. But expect bottom level of customer service in the country.

I can t comment on the taste of the chicken steak, but the service attitude is very poor.

Underwhelming, got the Spicy Chicken with cheese. It lacked some seasoning and the chicken tasted dry.

I love the chicken here and have been coming back every time visiting Pacific Mall. The only downside here is customer service. Recently I have ordered here twice with the same girl in the front and were ignored twice. She stuck to her phone until I waited and decided to wake her up with a Hello to begin an order. I m sure she saw me standing and waiting in front of her counter. What a weird attitude towards customer service!

Real junk food, the price is higher than McDonalds and the taste is bad

Tried the curry and special bbq sauce chicken here. The curry flavour was okay, but the bbq flavour was not to my taste. I was also not happy about half of my chicken being bone covered in batter. I checked their diagram and it seems only a small portion of it should be bone, but half of my chicken was bone. The price is not exactly cheap (around $27 including taxes for 2), so I wish there was less bone and more meat.

Quality has changed. It is not as good as it used to be. I also told the cashier not spicy yet I got a spicy one. That s it for me!

Can t relate to the bad reviews cause I have a good experience every time I order here. The fried chicken is always fresh, crispy, juicy and tasty! The chicken is so big, I usually have to share with my husband.

Love the cheese chicken which is always filled with so much cheese! A little on the pricier side.

Dont get me wrong, I love the Hot Cheese Fried Chicken but after just witnessing the employee use her bare hands instead of tongs to throw in the chicken, I do not want to come back. She proceeded to just rub her hands together, touch her hair and handle cash. A little unsanitary to say the least.

Terrible service, only one person in front, waited over 10 minutes to order. Left without ordering.

Finding this restaurant is more complicated than travelling to Taiwan.

I was in Pacific Mall around lunch so I decided to try this one out. Im glad I did. I ordered the large original spicy with Curry seasoning and a Lychee Soda. Tasted great and it was a good value for the food I got. The Soda was great and the Chicken was crispy and had a lot of flavour. The staff was great and kept updating me on how many minutes it was until the food was ready and I appreciated that. Id encourage anyone else that likes fried chicken to try this place out.

I like the fried chicken from this place. But they always run out of certain products.

Dec 13, 2021 @2pm Went here for lunch, ordered original chicken, crispy chicken, corn, and plum sweet potato. We waited too long to get our order, clerk didnt even bother to update us or anything. They seemed like they didnt want to work there. When we finally got it the food, it tasted stale, blant, and oily (chicken couldnt even stay upright). Flavouring was lacking in all of our food, it was just a terrible experience. Sweet potato was bitter and I couldnt even recognize the plum flavouring. I feel like I can comment in this experience since I regularly get hot star or monga chicken. Never been so dissatisfied and this location was overall depressing.

The chicken here is okay. You wait like 20 minutes expecting to be fresh and nice just to get no seasoning in the chicken with overwhelming amount of batter. Its better to literally go to other restaurants offered in Pmall to get shorter waiting time and better food

I love the king oyster mushroom. I honestly would say I would prefer their mushroom than their chicken. Everytime I come by I get 3 orders. Over the past 2 years I felt they decreased the portion but recently I got 3 portions ($18) and was very disappointed. They gave me half the portions of what they used to even though they raised their price. 5.49 + tax for maybe about 7 chopped up peices is crazy. Other than the disappointment of their portion, its one of my favorite items on their menu.

The Mall was very busy when we went. It was a very expensive treat 44.00 for 3 cheese fried chicken (no combo). Waiting 15 minutes, which is fine because its fresh. Lady taking our orders was very nice. The chicken still had bone in, which also is fine because of freshness. The meat had a sweet flavour and the cheese had nice strong flavour as well. Its not something I would get frequently because of its price, but overall as a treat I would return again.

I have never seen such a stingy store. Adding seasoning powder is expensive. Wow,

Worst fried chicken I ever had. I brought 5 large fried chicken which costed 66 dollars. And all of them are burn and dry! They tasted very bitter. I dont recommend this place at all!

Extremely greasy. And everything was put into a bag with made it hard to eat. They offer no sauces aside from ketchup so we had to pay for soy sauce from another vendor.

Bad customer service. Staff decided sending texts were more important than serving me first. Food overall was kind of bland even though I got the spicy chicken. Waited aprox 20 min for both my drink and chicken.

Love there chicken! So good flavorful and juicy. If your looking for a snack this is a great place and you can make it a whole meal if you want because the prices are quite large! Lots of other food options around if you are still hungry! Will be back and do recommend! Eat more chicken!

Hot Star Large Fried Chicken is a very famous place at Taiwan night market. It is nice to see their franchise in Toronto for these couple of years. It is on the second floor of Pacific Mall, inside the Heritage Village. Really like the seasonings and the huge size of chicken. It tastes exceptionally well. However, with the current price tag, customers are probably going there only once a year.

It s a bit long to wait, but it s understandable that it s freshly made.

I really like it. I have been to both DT and NY. I think they are very good.

I only give this place a two star. I ordered the large fried chicken with a little spicy. The chicken costed ($9.99) before taxes. The wait for the chicken was about 10 minutes or more because it was freshly fried. I have to say, the price of chicken is huge. But when I bit into it, the meat was really thin, like extremely thin and most of it was dough. This was a little disappointing. As I ate further into the chicken. I ended up eating some bone... it was stated that the chicken is supposed to be chicken breast. I didnt expect bone to be in it. Overall comments: probably will not purchase again. Its difficult to eat because its such a big piece. Next time I might try the chicken bites instead.

Had the large BBQ fried chicken, was quite tasty. Mostly boneless with some bone (sign says it has bone). I would prefer it fully deboned but I guess it adds to the size. Had the popcorn chicken in a previous visit, which I prefer to the massive chicken due to handling and price. Good for a quick meal or snack, just be prepared for the inevitable grease rush that follows.

Terrible at prioritizing orders. For small orders of sides (fries, mushrooms ect), makes no sense to wait just as long for chicken for something that cooks in 2 minutes. You might as well have ordered a chicken for the wait. Waste of time, and inefficient.
