We came as a group of 6. My husband and I ordered the dinner for two ($69.95) which includes an entree for each person, one appetizer to share, one dessert to share and two drinks for each person. We both ordered the 10oz New York steak which were cooked well and tender. The bruschetta appetizer was also big and flavorful. For dessert we ordered the waffle with banana and berries and Nutella sauce. Our friends and we are very pleased with the food quality, service of the waitstaff and the reasonable price of this dinner. We will return.
We visited Symposium for brunch. No doubt I just loved everything about the experience. The service, food, ambience everything was amazing. My most favorite was the Egg Benedict, thats’s the best benedict I’ve eaten so far. We ordered Avocado toast, Egg Benedict, Custom-made Omelette and Nutella Waffles. All of them were so yummy. Really enjoyed my time there. Service was excellent too. Mr Gary was so welcoming and friendly. The waiter- Mr Kasun’s service was commendable too. Highly recommended and will visit again for sure.
We went as a big group and sat outside at the patio. Sever was good she did come to us and was able to fix things along the way. Food took a while to come, I had seafood pasta and the spinach eggs . The rest of the group got brunch items. I think the biggest gripe was the overall service since there were some errors in the food and the time it took for the food to come.
Very welcoming atmosphere, large bar area & very spacious outdoor patio. Above all, very friendly attentive staff. Big shoutout to ‘Chinju’ again who made our dining experience most excellent. Today we all had the BBQ Chicken Cob Salad and it was excellent. The main reason we come to this location is the Huge portions of tasty dishes at reasonable prices. Check out their new Early Bird Breakfast Specials for $11.45 & their new Daily Lunch Specials for $13.95. Lots of free parking. Had a pleasant experience at Symposium. Their service was exceptional and the seating was comfortable. Love the large windows at the restaurant - provided adequate lighting to the venue. Their food is decent - Symposium Burger was okay, but the salmon on the salad bowl tasted a bit bland. The restaurant is kid-friendly and offers a beautiful patio overlooking Majormack. Place is perfect for hanging out with friends for drinks.
We came here for lunch and thought it was "meh". The benedict was probably in the warming station for too long the sauce dried up a bit, and then the burger's patties fell apart as soon as i picked it up. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. We also noticed one of the glass panels by another table was completely cracked, it doesn't look safe yet they still sat people next to it. This place definitely used to be better.
We went for coffee and dessert around 8:30 pm on Saturday night. Not too many choices and variety left. We ordered bananas crepes and also waffles which is a little disappointed. Services are good though.
So, my husband and I used to go to this location all the time (we preferred it over the one on Yonge). We took our toddler yesterday for dinner and unfortunately, was very disappointed. I ordered the Thai chicken thighs and a slaw and rice, while my husband ordered their petite steak au jus with veggies and rice. My toddler ordered off thr kids menu -- chicken tender with fries. First off, I'd like to say that our server was fantastic -- he was patient and welcoming with our son, and tended to our needs very well! The food -- it was such a disappointment. Good tasting food begins with quality ingredients, and from tasting the first bite, you can tell the proteins were frozen (not that it really matters), but we both could take freezer burn. Their Thai chicken thighs was supposed to have a peanut sauce -- it honestly was a slab of thick, terrible consistency peanut sauce which was not flavored well at all. My husband's steak au jus was inedible. We both ended up eating the basmati rice (which was okay), and his steamed veggies. My slaw was literally cabbage slices with slices of pickles. I'm not sure where in Thailand they would consider that a pickled slaw, but we were both thoroughly disappointed. The appetizer (calamari) was okay. My toddler enjoyed his fries, but he only had two small bites of his chicken tenders and said it was too tough to eat. Although we took advantage of their Thursday two can dine special, our overall bill came to just about $100, and honestly, restaurateurs should really think about how difficult it is for families to make a living and spend 100 on an evening out to only be disappointed.
Super yummy foods.Highly recommended.
Nice environment nd good service, thank you Gary
Very pleasant experience!
Delicious and fresh food. Good service. Nice atmosphere. Food : 4/5
We celebrated our event at Symposium last night. Before the event i met with Kasun, supervisor, on what the group needs are. Kasun was very helpful and accommodating. Gary the manager, was also easy to work with. The food came out warm/hot as everyone wanted. Atmosphere was great as we occupied half of the restaurants. Great for group event. Reasonably priced. Thanks Kasun. Gary and the staff. Great job. All attendees were satisfied
Its quiet and comfortable when I go there during lunch time. The waiters are polite.
The food is quite good here. Cooked very well. I was served by Kasun, a very lovely man.
Really enjoy this restaurant. All the staff are so friendly, especially the manager Kasan. The menu is very extensive, ranging from healthy choices to craveable foods. The hours are great, and love their daily and happy hour specials. The atmosphere is nice.. not noisy and comfortable
Parking: 60 Food
Really nice place with great staff and the food was excellent!
The dinner for two is a great deal with good selections including drinks. We have left overs for tomorrow. Food, atmosphere and service all excellent.
Chinju is a nice lady. Place is good, foods is good.
Our server was Kasam and he was great. Very attentive and polite. It was an amazing overall experience.
Kasun was extra helpful!
Great food! Great service! Our server, Krithika, was incredibly kind, attentive, and super nice. She made our dining experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend
Amazing service. Food came super fast and was extremely fresh! Highly recommend
Always a Delight! Never disappoints! The food is fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented whether its their all-day breakfast, comforting mains, or decadent desserts. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff make every visit feel special. Perfect for a casual brunch or a relaxing dinner, its become my go-to spot. Highly recommend!
We liked the quiet and no stress and pleasant staff and nice atmosphere
Our server Chinju was great!
Great food, great atmosphere. Excellent, courteous service.
Chinju was a great server! Thank you.
really nice restaurant! the night vibes are immaculate! Service is great, shoutout to Chinju! highly recommend
Very good service and chill atmosphere.
Symposium has been an amazing place for my group of friends to gather and spend time with one another. The food is always amazing and the service has been great, especially from Chinju. Well definitely be coming here for a long time.
Gary was great ..me and my work partner go there all the time great spot
Great location and great vibe. The owner Gary is super friendly and really the food quality and portion and top notch. Highly recommended.
Kinda disappointed with this location, but the service was impeccable Vegetarian options: Really good vegetarian options available Dietary restrictions: Food can be customized at a price Kid-friendliness: Kids eat for free on Sundays after 2
This was my first time visiting, I was craving a hearty breakfast before work and got the Eggs Benedict California Morning and a Coffee - it was delicious and filling. Great sized portion as well. The atmosphere was on point, Gary was super welcoming and friendly and the breakfast hit the spot. I would be interested to try the other breakfast items as well!
the chicken and mushroom alfredo pasta was very tasty, creamy . for sure love to eat again
The food is of excellent quality. And the ambience has always been excellent, like class without the pressure. The wall art has always been the draw at every location and the layout of the restaurant is open and inviting. Try the Chicken Sandwich and Steak Pesto sandwich, delicious. Now serving delicious breakfast at very reasonable prices.
Staff is very friendly, restaurant was clean and great atmosphere( tv on, music not too loud) makes for great money lunch. We had the Monday Angus burger special and other was delicious. Moist, flavourful and cant go wrong with thr price ( If I recall $6.99 and that includes their delicious fries)..hats off to the chef/ cook for not overcooking the burger or fries). Upon leaving, the host/ manager asked if all was good to which it was and he also informed us of the other daily specials they offered. Will definitely come back again. Kid-friendliness: Staff were friendly and warm when dealing g with children
Great service
Good atmosphere, good food, and good service. They have more varieties of dishes to offer nowadays!
The patio was nice and server was attentive. The food, however, wasnt that great. I had the Teriyaki Chicken Rice Bowl which was tasty but way too much sauce for my liking. My friend had the Teriyaki Salmon Salad which looked beautiful in the picture but was basically a large bowl of lettuce and chunks of raw broccoli with salmon on top. No cucumber, tomato, pea shoots, wontons. Disappointing. She mentioned it to the server who offered to bring the other items but it was too little too late. The manager apologized but there was no offer of a price reduction on a dish that was $28.45. I think both were overpriced and we wouldnt return.
Two of my orders missed bread, first in July and second yesterday. They told me in July they would never do it again and they did. So frustrated. They didnt even apologize or provided any compensation. The manager told us yesterday he would investigate, talk to their backend and call me back. He never did.
Food was average as expected
I ordered hamburger, the meat inside was all scattered in pieces! First time I ve seen a burger like this! Tasted yucky too. MacDonald does better than this!
Our server was very attentive. I wish I had remembered his name. Thank you for the wonderful service.
I dine at this Symposium Cafe from time to time. I enjoyed the Date Night Dinner Special. Its a Super Good Deal for the Price. Dining Room is Spacious with Nice Decor. Food is Good n Tasty! Friendly AAA Service!! My Favorite Server Chinju goes Above and Beyond to provide Excellent Customer Service. Vegetarian options: Varieties of Salads
Staff was very kind and the food was amazing. One of my favourite places to eat anytime of day!
The chicken waffle and sweet potato fries also very good
We had a large group of 25 people, a family reunion, and Symposium was able to provide great service. Everyone enjoyed their food. It was the perfect atmosphere for our little gathering. Staff was great.
The turkey sausage we ordered was so hard like a tree branch. Overall, brunch was meh.
We visited this place on last Friday, food was horrible and also the service
What an amazing experience. The cakes are to die for and really big for the price. The food was great and the server was extremely sweet. I was very impressed with my experience and recommend this location.
Good place for breakfast, many items to choose from, friendly service.
This is a great spot to catch up with friends over breakfast, lunch or brunch orall of the above. Pleasant atmosphere, not too loud, good food. Cant go wrong with the eggs benedict. Our server, Gary, just made our day. He was welcoming, attentive and funny ;)
Had breakfast, excellent service from Gary. Food was awesome, Avocado toast out of the world. Deco was also so awesome Definitely will be visiting again Food : 5/5 |
The lunch was exceptionally sumptuous. Prices are very reasonable. The ambience and service are exceptional. Highly recommend this place. This Cafe is a must visit place!! Food
Great food as always! Had to leave a review for the service. Hasantha - thank you. You made the experience even better. Friendly and welcoming. We didn t want to leave! Hasantha You are the best!
Good entrees and desserts
I don t know what to begin with, first of all they don t answer their phones or return calls. We went on Tuesday to celebrate 2 of birthdays. They don t give you the promotion of the day until you ask for it .we ask for tap beer they don t have it ,food came very poorly made . You can t bring your own cake to celebrate and They don t come up with small dessert and candle to celebrate people like other restaurants ,you have to purchase piece of cake to blow the candle , they don t have even candles when we asked them small piece of cake$13 another very small piece of brownie $9 test very old and dry not even freshly made . Don t waste your time going there with same price go any other well known place.
The service was top notch...our server Kasun was so polite and helpful...he made sure my grandmother was comfortable on the patio by bringing out one of the padded indoor chairs. Overall it was a nice experience...the food was great too.
Great food, atmosphere and service. Had a great Sunday brunch there with my family. Kasan was great and made sure we were well taken care of.
We came here for brunch. We love the wings with sweet and spicy Thai sauce. Truffle fries is soso.
Kasun was very accomodating. He made sure my elderly mom was comfortably seated and our meal was served well. I will come again
Had dinner at the Kennedy & Major Mack location. Service was mediocre coupled with the bland JD tenderloin meal. My daughter had the kids penne which was also unenjoyable. Ordered a drink that I didnt receive, sat the whole meal without a drink.
This place was very disappointing. From the start, it took quite some time for our order to be taken. 5-10 minutes after taking our order, the waitress came back to clarify something about what we ordered, yet still hadnt brought us our drinks....which was literally just fountain pop. When our food was brought out, she was nowhere to be found afterwards. The truffle Parm fries were ok, but the Greek salad left much to be desired. It was honestly kind of gross, at $16 for a salad with barely any feta, not sure what you are paying for, the lemon juice that overpowered the whole salad? Yuck. To end the experience, the female bathroom was in some serious need of repair. Paper towel machine broken, something hanging off the top of the door, and just overall unclean. This place needs some TLC. I wont return
love their food, friendly staff and overall good service.
One of the best food, service and staff.
Chinju was very very good sever.
Nice place and good food. Service is great
Came to this place for breakfast and I must say this was my first time being at this restaurant . place is very clean staff are very professional and friendly and very fast service with the food. The food and drink that me and my bf had was amazing very fresh I would definitely recommend this place for breakfast and will definitely be coming back more often. The waffles I had came out really hot and they tasted so fresh that I had no issue at all with the food it was very light fluffy perfectly cooked like a Belgian waffle should be cooked their iced cappuccino is to die for not too sweet at all if your not much into sweet drinks I would recommend their iced cappuccino looking forward to coming back soon had a lovely time at this restaurant
Good breakfast spot, friendly service. There is a cute patio at this location. Perfect for summer. Food
First time here let me say Im impressed the food the ambiance the service and staff was exceptional Arnie (forgive me for spelling plz) our server was excellent at informing of the daily specials. #takenbymyhusband for brunch I Had fried chicken benedict (didnt like the guacamole) with mimosa My husband had french toast The ginger tea was smooth water nice n hot and I love the option of honey
Went on Sunday and waited for about 30 mins for table. Finally got a table and waited 20 mins for the server then waited for 1 hour and no food. Nobody came to check on us. My 2 year old was very hungry & cranky. The Manager didnt even care. So, we had to leave. The Worst Service!!!
Forgot the cheese in two of our orders (a burger and an omelette), both orders of the eggs Benedict s at our table didn t have poached eggs but they were hard boiled. Clearly understaffed with not the greatest food at super slow service but the restaurant didn t seem that busy. The staff was really nice and friendly in general but that s not enough for me to recommend to others or come back.
Great food, great service, the dessert was nice. Kid-friendliness: Good dessert Food : 5/5 |
Food is good. Service is friendly. The only thing that would have been nice would have been to lower the window shades before sunset to keep the sun out of my eyes during dinner.
Excellent Service Delicious Food Food
Had a great Father s Day meal with the family at Symposium: great variety of entrees and cocktails. The servers are very prompt. Really great value for the portions, we will be back again.
I visited this location for a Father s Day brunch with my family. Initially, things seemed promising, but we were ultimately disappointed. Our server was in a rush to take our order and hardly listened to our requests. My sister, who is not allergic but requested her shrimp Pad Thai without nuts, received a plate covered in them. I also asked for a side of lemon for my water, which she only brought after we reminded her. It felt like this location prioritized seating people and taking their money over providing genuine hospitality. We waited 45 minutes for our food, and when we spoke to the manager about the issues, instead of removing the half-warm, mediocre food from our bill, or even providing somewhat of a discount for the multiple inconsistencies, he gave my sister a free piece of cake lol. If she had been allergic to the nuts, this could have been a serious problem. I ordered the Mediterranean veggie wrap, and while it tasted okay, I woke up this morning with gas pain and nausea. Dining here feels like a gamble you might end up with food poisoning.
We had dinner on Friday approximately 6.15 pm. I had the Grilled chicken Cobb salad, my wife had the Teriyaki salmon salad. The presentation of the salad bowls were fine, but the chicken was dry and tough. My wife complained the salmon was fishy. The restaurant was not busy at that time, which seemed to be unpopular to Friday night dinner goers. The restaurant should find out what went wrong to ensure its business sustainability.
This mornings breakfast was exceptional! Wonderful service, delicious food and one of the best vanilla lattes ever !
Visited this location for a birthday brunch. They seemed to be understaffed, disorganized, and mismanaged. We sat down at about 11am, we took about 10-15 mins to look at the menu. The server came back to take our drink orders, and thats where the service fell apart. The drinks took a bit to come out one by one, half the table waiting on their drink. Then, the server left us unattended for a while before coming to take the food orders. She lost track of who ordered and almost forgot to take one persons order. The server seemed to be very overwhelmed as they were managing the dining room and patio area. The food took about an hour to come out one by one again. Half the table was almost done eating by the time everyones food came out. The food options/add-ons offered are expensive compared to other brunch spots who offer more for less. At 1 p.m., we asked for the bill. The server got confused at who ordered what, and we had to sort through it. 3 people paid with cash and she said she would be back with change, however we saw her dealing with other tables while holding our cash/receipts, we waited respectfully for about 10 mins before going inside and asking for the change then she took another 10 mins to cash the 3 people who paid cash. It took 30 mins to get settle the bill. 2½ hours for brunch. There was an auto gratuity because we were a large group, which I feel was not deserved at all. I usually dont mind, but thats how bad service was. It was a poor experience and wouldnt eat here again. Poor training, poor management, poor service.
A great experience for a quick coffee date with my wife. Jennifer our server was super friendly and knowledgeable. Prompt service and excellent quality of food Vegetarian options: Many options to select from. We had Portobello Mushrooms
First time and I had a great experience! Got the burger with poutine and it was excellent l. It s a double pattie and if you add bacon it s perfect. Thanks to our server Keisha for her great service too
Updated review I initially gave a five star review as a service was good on the day we went and the price was reasonable. We went back again for breakfast a couple more times and I wasn t impressed. I notice a common theme when I go. The cutlery and glasses are always dirty as well as the coffee cups. The first time I was there I excused it as I thought it was a one off and just asked for replacement cutlery and cups and glass, but it happened again on my two last visits. My tea cup had some black substance smeared inside. The cutlery had food stuck to it and greasy fingerprints all over and the glass had crusty food stuck to the outside as well as lip prints from the last customer. I m not sure if I ll go back here. Please do better symposium.
I enjoy having a good breakfast there with friends. Well definitely be there again for dinner next time.
Totally enjoyed brunch today. We were seated in short order and the table was prepared nicely. Our server was prompt and polite. His service made the experience enjoyable and the food came well prepared.
Home fries are to almost die for
Breaded fish was excellent, sweet potato fries were disgusting and coleslaw was inedible. Service was very good
Very friendly service and tasty food with a good amount of meat for the price
Sorry to say this but it was not good idea to have a meal at this place. We ordered breakfast menu and eggs were the only ok food to eat, quality of the rest is mediocre if not worse, avocado toast was a complete disaster. In the end it was disappointing experience, don t recommend to anyone
Friendly, attentive staff. Happy to eat here always
Good food and attentive staff! Came here violently hungover with my friends, pretty sure we gave the staff members a good laugh, although we felt we were nearing death this place made our brunch date enjoyable!
A very comfortable place to eat and meet with people.
Awesome as usual.Kazan was extremely attentive. His smile showed he was invested in us enjoying our meal.
Worst service I have ever experienced in my life. Incorrect orders. Some meals came a half hour after the 1st meal came out. The last to be brought out was a salad and side of fries. How long does that take to make? When my uncle complained, the manager (who was standing at the bar watching cricket) asked him if he wanted to go outside and settle things. When we left, he then came running out after my uncle to fight. Absolutely unbelievable. Dont go to this place.
The breakfast and hospitality was amazing. Thank you
Always welcoming and food is amazing. Great staff. Everyone deserves a raise!
Brought my son here on a kids eat free Sunday and was very happy with the service and quality. Would highly recommend going here to satisfy your tastebuds.
Gary was very helpful in getting what we needed
Had an amazing experience here!!! Owner is fantastic, very kind and generous and the service here is amazing. For the price, the quality and portion of the food is phenomenal! Definitely a 10/10 experience!
Keisha was a great server!
Nice atmosphere. Not too fancy. Relaxed. Food is good. Service is good. I like their Caramel Cheese Cake. The breakfast is excellent. Lunch and dinner has quite a lot of choices too. They have vegetarian Monday. Not bad.
Everything was perfect, thank you so much
Good, but the service was slow.
Had a doordash order not completed, by fault of the driver. Called the restaurant and the manager or person in charge asked for my address and personally delivered the rest of the order to me. Much appreciated and great customer service. Thank you.
My children love the signature burger and the fruit milkshake. We also found the fries fat n crispy n super delicious.
The thinnest bacon ever! Breakfast served cold as waiter watching TV. Used to be a regular, not coming back.
Our first time trying this restaurant for breakfast, love the beautiful decor & atmosphere. Tables are not closed to each other, so spacious. We enjoyed our own space. Staff are very welcoming. We ordered the early bird breakfast that included coffee. Food are standard breakfast taste, omelette was a bit overcooked though. Overall, We enjoyed our visit at Symposium Restaurant Markham.
I had a fantastic time at brunch today. I really don t know why this restaurant isn t more popular. The food was delicious, the service was amazing and the vibe was relaxing. My brother and I both had entrees and a main, he also had a drink and the total came out to be $80. Very affordable and delicious food! I will definitely be going again!
Best breakfast potatoes in Markham!!
My grandma and I enjoyed the Friday seafood special that came with a free soup! The food was delicious and Kasun is an amazing and kind server!
If I could give this review negative stars, I would I called two weeks before Good Friday to make a reservation for an Easter brunch for 12 people, including my cousin who was in a wheelchair. We were told no problem. Fast forward to Good Friday and everything started off okay. My husband and I did need to remind the server twice about our drinks (as they brought the ones for the rest of the table, but not ours.. okay that s fine, slip up). We all placed our orders and had to wait for quite a while, about 45 mins or so. That being said, we overlooked it given that there were 12 of us and at least it meant they were making the food. Finally food starts to arrive. We get 3-4 dishes and realize we had no cutlery. We informed the manager as he was standing nearby watching cricket. Not the end of the world, but we had a late start, different people wants another coffee/ drink, etc., and he s standing right in front of us watching tv.. not the best impression. Finally manager drops one large plate of knives on our table? So then we ask what about the forks. And he abruptly brings them. Then it started to get very strange 3-4 meals are out, wait 10 minutes and another 3-4 arrive (thankfully my cousin, who is in her wheelchair, received her s right away.. so at least they got that right). Eventually we get to about 30 minutes later and two of my cousins still don t have their meals. Almost everyone is finished eating. I called the manager over and asked what is happening about 5 times and he continued to reply it s coming, it s coming . No apology, nothing. Finally about 45 minutes later I walk up to the manager and told him I would like to know what s taking so long. And that their food should certainly be free at this point.. 45 MINUTES AFTER EVERYONE ELSE?! Finally they bring one cousin s food.. she ordered a salad and a plate of fries. You re telling me it took 45 minutes for you to put together a salad and plate of fries this could have been fixed in 2 minutes. Almost an hour later and they finally arrive with my other cousin s food. At this point, I suggested their entire meal (family of 4) should be entirely free. The manager asks is this what would make me happy? With a half grin on his face no. What would have made me happy was everyone s food on time ? There was no apology, no appetizer or other thing to hold anyone over and no one came to check on us we had to ASK where the remaining food was because the manager/ server didn t even notice?! Finally everyone has finished eating (about 2.5 hours later). We ask for the bills and wait 30 minutes for them to be brought. Finally we pay, after another 15 minutes of muttering around and walk out to the parking lot. The manager actually follows us out to the parking lot and tries to get my dad to get in a FIGHT?! Is this real?! Sign in the window says under new management.. and I suspect they will either close or be under new management again soon. An absolute joke.. probably my worst restaurant experience ever. EDIT: The restaurant manager tried to add me on Facebook after completing this review. Blocked him, but that definitely made me feel very uncomfortable.
Took a group of 10 for happy hour food and drinks here. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Gary mixed our drinks to perfection. Will be going back soon.
Food and people was good!
I don t normally write reviews, but I had such an outstanding experience at this symposium that I had to write about it. My partner and I came in on a Sunday to watch the basketball game over lunch because a friend told us the there was a huge screen by the bar. I wouldn t expect this customer service from a chain restaurant, but the owner came over to introduce himself and let us know that he would take good care to ensure we had a good visit. He made recommendations about popular items and suggested the butter chicken poutine which he developed the recipe for himself. He told us that he used to own a catering company that specialized in marinades and bbq meats - definitely came across in the food! If you know good butter chicken, this was hitting the mark. The drinks were good and the whole meal was pretty cheap. As far as watching a game at a bar on Sunday goes, this was a great local option. Vegetarian options: There were a some great vegetarians options and my partner noticed that they have a featured deal on Mondays where you get a free dessert with a vegetarian meal! Kid-friendliness: Tons of kids there today because we saw kids under 12 eat free on Sundays.
Nice place to have a dinner with a good customer service. I wish thank the waitress to get the group photo too.
Gary is the definition of great customer service. One thing you can t hide is your energy, and I can tell he really enjoys what he does. 10/10 customer service from beginning to end. He represents symposium how it should be. I don t take the time to write reviews unless it was impactful experience. This was great to see that restaurants still care about their customers. Awesome experience :)
This is our go to once a week dine out location. Spacious and comfortable seating and good food with very reasonable prices. They also have really good promotions throughout the week so youll likely find one that fits your taste. Gary is our guy. He knows our order by heart and gets our food to us asap when were in a pinch for time. Glad to have a place like this in the northern parts of Markham.
Place looks great inside and food is awesome.
Came here on Valentines day and the only satisfactory experience was our server Kiyani. She gave amazing service and lightened up our mood after over hearing the manager dealing with his staff in an unprofessional manner.
food was alright. decent atmosphere but server was pretty bad. we had to remind them to bring us the menu and also they didn t give us water. took pretty long too considering it wasnt that busy
Very delicious food and very friendly staff. When we entered we were greeted with a warm friend!
Called 7 times this morning trying to get a pickup order. No responses.
Very expensive for what it is....although our server was very attentive which was great.
Kasum was very polite and friendly.. love going to Sympsosium as service is great, food is great, they have very friendly staff Vegetarian options: Veggie Omelette and home fries was delicious served with rye bread
Great Price, Good Location
3 of us just went for brunch! The food was of Amazing quality and quantity! Yummy eggs Benedict! 3 eggs! Yummy French toast and fresh fresh fruit! Incredible fresh raspberry milkshake! The server was lovely! Polite, friendly and on top of things! Atmosphere was perfect! We will be back! Thanks Gary and staff!
the service and food is great!
Great lunch. We walked in with a birthday cake and the manager came over right away and took the cake to put it in the fridge for us without us even asking. The meal was great and the service was excellent. Would highly recommend this location.
I don t know this guy , but he showed me the most respect and hospitality . They were done serving breakfast , he hooked me up with some eggs anyways (6pm) . Enjoyed my meal in peace . Amazing service , amazing everything. Definitely coming back . Good food , good ppl.
Gary was very helpful and the food was delicious
great food, excellent service, recommend coming here for breakfast
the food was amazing. the interior was well decorated. Everything was amazing. The caesar salad was phenomenal. The waiters were very caring and there was even free wifi!
Food is not good at all..
My mom and I went for brunch, the food was good. We had to wait to be seated. So if you know youre headed there for breakfast or brunch try to book a reservation. It was busy at 11am. My only comment is that the furniture is outdated and not in the best of shape. Also Id like to point out that if you have a costco membership you can get 2 $50 gift card for $80. So its a good bang for your buck that way.
We came here after the winter light fest at Angus Glen. Surprised this place is still opened considering its never busy. I had their black coffee and we all shared their cakes. Theyve got weekly specials so do check it out Food : 3/5 |
Lovely place to go to even with the family Vegetarian options: Lots of options Parking: Lots of spots to park
I have a very delicate stomach condition and when my wife and I explained that to the gentleman Suter he went out of his way to make sure my dinner was cooked just right for me, we were considering going to another place but Suter was there for us on my birthday and made our evening most enjoyable thank you Vegetarian options: very good Dietary restrictions: Suter took care of that for me. Parking: good
Came on a weekday at noon as I was in the area. Place was pretty empty and service was slow. Ordered some southwest chicken benedict with home fries. The fried chicken was like freezer burnt fried chicken that was overcooked in the oven and then microwaved. The eggs were poached hard (yolks not runny at all) benedict sauce was just.... Sauce. Bland. It just served to add moisture to the dry rubber chicken and egg. The fries were good. Nothing else came with it so the plate had no colour and it was so blah looking I didnt even think to take a picture. The waitstaff was nice, so point for her.
The food tasted off ( zero stars), salmon wasnt remotely fresh and the breakfast sausages were stale. Two brunches $75 w tip and a life lesson to never return to this location again. There used to be this saying in the culinary industry that if you wouldnt feed it to your family the food shouldnt go out and be served. This kitchen is a prime example. The home fries were the best part to an otherwise over priced meal. To the cooks and management - do better please. Definitely note the experience I was hoping for and left me bothered being taken for a ride. Wait staff were friendly and I tipped them despite the hard English muffins and gross hollandaise sauce. Seek another location if youre looking not to pay for food that was clearly not fresh while having the audacity to charge their prices.
Took a long time to take our order, didn t have the beer I wanted. And the food didn t taste good.
Today I tried the BBQ Chicken Cobb Salad, Egg Benedict, and Burger and each dish was a delightful experience. The BBQ Chicken Cobb Salad impressed with its fresh ingredients and flavorful barbecue dressing. The Egg Benedict was a brunch delight, featuring perfectly poached eggs. The Burger was a classic done right, with a juicy and well-seasoned patty. The server was very attentive too even though the restaurant was busy
Kasun was great! They were very accommodating. Food was delicious Dietary restrictions: Dairy wheat Food : 5/5 |
Very friendly and hospitable staff. Great and diverse selection of dishes. The chicken wings really stand out from the competition.
Family day couldn t be any better than have a meal with family. It was my first time at Symposium, the food was good, well priced to its competitors, very good service, spacious location with a very good ambience. Parking: Easy access
Lovely spot. We had a group gather for a little reunion, and greatly enjoyed our dinners. It can get noisy when its busy. Food
Had a large party of 9. Service was ok. Food was ok. My hamburger was good. My wife said her meal was. All of the other people in my table said their meals was ok. Its ok!
Enjoyed a nice brunch with friends. Experienced much better food and service under new owner. I would come back.
Amazing experience, first meal in 2024!!! It s not our first time there and loved it in the past and they still keep up the awesomeness, really want to share todays experience. All staff was super friendly with lots of smile, what not to love to be greeted with smiles first the new year. Our server Kasun was super attentive, nice and friendly, took care of our requests. Not to mention the food was absolutely delicious, sharing some pictures to show. If you are wondering about the prices, it s very reasonable. What makes this Symposium great is the manager, Suther goes around and speaks with all the guests to get feedback or need anything. I would highly recommend. Great way to start our year, both my husband and I really enjoyed the meal.
The atmosphere and staff were wonderful. A great place for a happy easy and long chat with friends!
good food and SUTHER good service.
Really good place, quite, vibrant. Really good pasta as well. Hospitable, welcoming, and prompt service.
This is NOT a gluten-free friendly restaurant.
Good restaurant for a casual American Sunday breakfast, a little low on staff, and chairs are quite worn, other than that, good restaurant.
Very good restaurant!Very good service from Kansan!Recommend!!
Although the food was great, the service wasn t really that great. We sat for about 15 mins until the server came up to us. By then we were ready to order, I started ordering water for the table and the server was already walking away. I had to stop him and tell him we know what we wanted to order. Why was he in a rush for? It wasn t even busy. He did not once come by our table and ask how our food is. Did not ask if I wanted another drink. Or refilled any of our water. We finished our food and we ve been sitting here for about 25 mins now waiting for someone to come to our table. And we re probably gonna be waiting another 20 minutes to get our bill. Terrible service!!!
This is a very good place in a town. Probably not many ppl notice here, but you will feel good once youre there. They are friendly, food is good enough and very comfortable atmosphere as well.
Worst customer service from the owner! Strongly do not recommend this place until a change of ownership!
Terrible experience, we actually got up and left. First started with the kids menu has coloring and cross word, buddy didnt bring any crayons for the kids so we asked him for some he brought 1 crayon and we have 2 kids. Lol so we just told the kids to break it in half. Waitress finnaly arrives and takes our order during the order she forces the kids to pick there dessert and not allowed to pick after they eat , we asked for the steak bites and fries she tells us no fires you have to order separately, I then showed her on the menu its says steak bites and fries she laughed and said ok. We order some drinks mine was a classic mule, she brought the drinks and my cup was half empty so I called he back and asked her to please top it up, she replied I noticed that too, and I asked for a straw. She comes back with the drink topped up and no straw. I get up myself and get a straw from the bar. No big deal till this point. Food finnaly comes and not the appetizers, we try the steak and its cold and over cooked . The pasta was rubbery and the flat bread was stale. Eventually our appetizers comes which is the muscles and its cold. We decided to just get up and leave. We asked for our bill, I payed the bill in full which was $97 and explained to the waitess and manager our experience, the waitress was very oppologetic and the manager just ignored the situation and continued to act busy. I hope they manage better in the future, people work hard for there money and cant afford this below par food and service. AVOID THIS LOCATION! They reply below states that attempts were made, there was ZERO ATTEMPTS MADE, NOT EVEN A DISCOUNT ON THE BILL, I PAID IT IN FULL INCLUDING FOOD THAT STILL HAD NOT RECIEVED. PLEASE DONT LIE ON THE REVIEW PLATFLORM IN AN ATTEMPT TO SAVE YOUR REPUTATION. IF YOU WANT TO DO SOMETHING EMAIL ME DIRECTLY AND ISSUE ME A REFUND I PAID OVER $100 FOR NOTHING. BUNCH OF CROOKS.
Service is wayyyyy to slow and bad( ignores you)
Great spot for desert or food. Ordered the chicken fingers and fries that were really good! The chicken was tender and not all batter like most places. Not usually something I order but decided to try it here. The service was great.
We walked in, stayed 35 seconds and left. As soon as we walked in, the entire place smelled like a dirty wash cloth. 2 booths had huge holes in the surface and one both had a huge bunch of womans hair. At that pt, I left.
Super yummy Curry beed bun and iced lemon tea. Sweet !
Ordered a full rack of ribs with fries dinner and the ribs were cold . The rib sauce had a very undistinguished flavor worst ribs ever .
First time to try this restaurant today , wait for 15 mins+, just put down the menu n no server follow up , only have two tables of customers and they have food served. Feel sad for everything.
I went to symposium and want to say that l will never, ever go back there again. I ordered a meal from them and became extremely sick right afterwards. I phoned the restaurant and asked them what they were going to do for me to compensate for their bad food. But they did nothing at all. In fact they showed no concern about the incident and what had happened to me because of their food. That was just terrible. This Symposium gave very poor customer service and is run by poor management . I don t wish for anyone to experience what l went through. I suggest for you to find another restaurant to dine at.
Nicole provided fast, friendly and efficient service. We ordered fish tacos, Caesar salad and mussels marinara. It was a lovely lunch!
Check closing time before you head in. The staff will not hesitate to let you know its time to go.
Food is ok. Price is reasonable. Services are great. Waitresses/waiters fill out cups coffee all the time
I am changing my review from 5 stars to 1 as Food was really bad this time. Ordered burger and it was bad. Fast food restaurants has better burger. Chicken was very dry in Chicken in Teriyaki. I think in both cases meat was not fresh. But the service of Zinab was excellent!
Had breakfast at Symposium with the family. Great food and the team was very nice and friendly. Will definitely go back.
Bit overpriced for the quality of food and service.5 stars for the interior. Will come back for dessert and see if this would make a difference ..
Their alfredo is amazing!
went here for my sisters birthday brunch and we shared our orders so they kept one order in the back to keep it warm while we first shared our eggs. Food was good and service was kind!
Nice place and friendly staff. Prices are comparable. It was quiet when we went. Service was quick and food was great.
Great place for breakfast and brunch. Thank You Gary A. for providing us for excellent hospitality. Love the cappuccino!
Kasun was an excellent server! Food was fantastic too!
Gary Anthony( General Manager) who is nice and professional, also food is delicious of course I ll come back for their excellent food. Parking:
Symposium has a great atmosphere with tasteful decor and lots of natural light. We came for breakfast. The portions were good and the service was excellent. Our server was attentive and welcoming. Gary, the general manager, checked in with us and made sure we were taken care of. Overall it was a very pleasant experience! Vegetarian options: There are plenty of vegetarian options on the menu Parking: There is parking out front and were free spaces for the breakfast/lunch hour
Went for breakfast and was greeted by Kasun our server who was polite, quick and served us with care.
Staff were very nice and helpful Food was made fresh and tasted good Food
