Not a fan of the quality of sushi here. Ordered twice on DoorDash and every time sushi rolls would fall apart. Portions are small. Much better options in Markham. Food : 3/5 |

The food and service is always excellent here as I have been a long time customer- mostly on Fridays and weekends. However I did come on a Monday and the service was , the waitress missed a part of my order which I was disappointed about. I decided to stick to coming on Fridays & weekends as the service we receive from Maggie is exceptional! She is by far the most pleasant and attentive waitress I have come across in the industry! Shes so hardworking and such a humble soul, we look forward to dining here not only for the good food but also excellent service we receive from Maggie! Thank-you Maggie

If you enjoy multiple day old rice and stale shrimp&salmon, then this is definitely the place for you. Maybe this was an outlier experience based on the other seemingly positive reviews here, but the dinner takeout order we got was definitely not up to par. FFS, this is Markham - there are probably hundreds of sushi places to choose from... do yourself a favour and pick literally any other one! The people seem nice though.

I really do enjoy this place, quality is good for value. Only thing that deducted a star is atmosphere, although it is a cute cozy restaurant the art work is beautiful and there is ambiance THERE S NO MUSIC! Please I would love if you guys would play any music in the back, it adds to the dinning experience! Otherwise very friendly staff, good food.

Was just here today. I have been going to Markham sushi consistently for about 10 years. Management has changed and I will no longer be going here. Today while I was waiting for my order for pick up, a woman from the back kitchen started screaming. One woman from the front ran to the back and when she came out she signaled to other front woman using hand gestures that showed antennae. They looked over at me furtively and then one woman made a disgusted and scared face. The woman from the back kept yelling for help and a man went back and presumablytook care of things. It was obvious there was some sort of mouse or roach situation. I asked point blank what was in the back kitchen. Both women acted stupid and pretended they didn t understand even though they were just speaking English to me. I made the antennae gesture and said again what was it? One girl signaled to the other not to say anything and laughed sheepishly. Finally the one woman said oh it was just a green bug we were scared because it was so big didn t eat the food. Place is filthy. Never going back. I d suggest you don t either.

I visited Markham Sushi for dinner on Thursday. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. Despite there being available booths, I was left waiting for around 10 minutes. One server was busy answering the phone, while the other seemed to ignore us. Their English communication was also not very clear, which made the experience frustrating. Overall, the servers were unfriendly and unprofessional, which really affected my dining experience. I believe the management has changed, and unfortunately, I wont be coming back again.

Very small pieces and still Chinese owned, fish is stale and miso wasn t hot at all. There s also constant shouting of mandarin from the kitchen. Not the ideal experience at all.

They have send a wrong order and when I called to say that I am missing one item, they insisted that no it is not and they told me to check again and started lecturing me about the difference between hand roll and standard without admitting that they did wrong. I have ordered from them before but now never again after this service. Paid $54.

I really like this place. They have a great variety of food to choose from. I like the ability to create my own bento box. The service is spot on here. It is small here. The seats arent really comfortable.

Food quality is good, but choices are not the best. The vibe is matching to what you would expect from a Japanese restaurant - so expect to be very cozy and sit tightly together. Unfortunately, due to the tiny restaurant size, we were rushed out our meal for the next guest (we were there for only ~70mins for a three generations gathering to celebrate grandmas birthday). We have little kids who need some feeding, so that slow us down even more. We were handed our bills before we even wanted to leave, and our dishes were collected in a hurry. Conclusion: Will not come again.

Markham Sushi has been my family and I s go to for the past few years. Any occasion or special event we choose Markham Sushi! The quality of the food is amazing. They are consistent and the staff is very kind. My favourites have to be their katsu, bentos, galbi, bulgogi and the list goes on. The salad dressing is phenomenal as well. Small restaurant with service and food that comforts the heart and stomach. Our go to place for sushi, udon noodle soup, and the chicken katsu. Everything we ve tried has been delicious.

When we lived in Markham we went here often so when we were in the area we had to go and they didnt disappoint. Our favourites are the chicken teriyaki dinner and an assortment of sushi.

Food was enjoyable, have come here more than once. Service was decent most of the time, had one or two misunderstandings though

I had lunch at MS with 5 work colleagues. We all had different items, and everyone was impressed and left satisfied. Very authentic atmosphere and courteous service. We all intend to return in the future.

You have to try their tempura!! So crispy and the sauce is good. Bento boxes don t really include much sashimi options, but the food is fresh.

I usually order from here because its close to home. When I ordered today and they gave a pickup time 40 mins in the future I accept that they might be busy...but today I pick it up and the restaurant is empty, the sushi/sashimi is warm and the soup is not hot. Ugh.

My 2 sisters and I went here for lunch this past Monday and really enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. Lots of parking too. The booths were quiet and cozy and I even heard some music from my favorite Korean group, BTS playing in the background! Our waitress brought us a pot of complimentary green tea which was hot and delicious and she was quick to refill it whenever it got low. We each ordered the Maki lunch special (2 rolls ... 12 pieces for $15) with miso soup and salad. It was fresh and delicious ... and very filling! My favourite was the yam roll which had tempura bits in it! I highly recommend this place if you want good food and an enjoyable time with family or friends! The only drawback is that the restaurant is not very big so it may not be suitable for large groups. Call ahead.

This gem of a restaurant is hidden in a tiny strip mall, however, the interiors are so gorgeous! For starters, we had the miso soup, vegetable gyoza, shrimp tempura along with Okinomiyaki and chicken Karagae and it was so delicious Since we were a party of 6, we felt it was good to order the Party Tray of RC3 62 pieces and truly loved the various sushi assortments Would highly recommend this venue as it is a perfect restaurant to bring family and friends

Looking for sushi in the nearby area and come across this sushi gem from google reviews! Place is hidden in the mall, but quickly once you enter the restaurant you ll feel the Japanese atmosphere! Food is very good, lots to choose and great deal on Combos! Will visit more for sure, friendly staff and nice tea served with beautiful teapot! Highly recommend!

I was not very satisfied, the reason was that I chose this restaurant because it was on my way and I wanted to eat and charge my mobile phone to continue my journey. Unfortunately, the manager there had forbidden to charge my mobile phone. Well, from my point of view. It was not very nice and I may not choose this restaurant ever again. And this made me want to pay more so that I can charge my mobile phone somewhere else and continue on my way.

Hidden sushi gem in Markham. Had the dinner make your own bento with chicken teriyaki and salmon sashimi. Came with salad, miso soup, California rolls, rice, and two gyoza for about 30$. On the pricier side but portions were huge and delicious. Great service! Our table was right beside the door entrance and they offered to move us to an inside table to avoid the breeze from customers coming in and out.

I ve been to a few sushi spots around town and today I checked out this one and I am pleased to say that it is a great location with plenty of options and photos in their menu so you can easily identify what you d like. The location was a little tricky to get to because it was hidden within the plaza but once you know that it s very easy to get to. It was pretty quiet, and the environment was extremely clean. I would recommend them to others

Great Japanese restaurant hidden inside this plaza. I believe theyre Korean owned. Intimate dining area serving your staple Japanese dishes including platters, Bento boxes, stir fry and more. Service was good however I believe theyre a bit understaffed. There was only one server in the dining room and sometimes another lady comes out but the restaurant was full and she also had to deal with take out and delivery orders so my food came a bit slow and also a sake forgotten. Their menu doesnt specify whats in some platters especially the premium dishes so I had to ask. When the premium items came they do have good quality. Plating was beautiful and servers were nice. Overall great place to check out.

Very average: quality of fish was good, udon was a little small, and could have better potions for the price (overall, not too shabby). Not my #1 place to go for sushi, but they have a lit of vegetarian options catering to my guest! Service was very quick, and did not have to wait long at all.

Opt for the Salmon Lover Dinner. Worth it. I wish to have had a tea with my meal that is often included in other restaurants. However, Miso soup, salad and the dinner was very good. Would certainly return for more.

Been dinning here for years, but 2 out of 3 of us got very ill from our lunch the other day. Huge price increases over the years is one thing. Came here for sushi after two years. They are busy as always with both dine in and takeout. Food quality, taste and freshness are top notch. There are many sushi restaurants around but only one or two that are really good and this is one of them. Pricewise it has increased a lot compared to a month back

Favourite sushi spot for my colleagues and I ! We often call them ahead and order. Weve done 10 different orders for takeout, and theyve never gotten anything wrong in our orders. Were always impressed with the freshness and their lunch specials. We will be back soon!

The place is very busy so please call ahead of time, but it is well worth the wait. Ordered the 60-piece sushi and roll party tray. Feeds three people very nicely. Honestly dont think anyone can ask for more from a sushi place at this price. Simply exquisite!

Korean-operated Japanese restaurant, with some Korean selections as well. The Bento boxes seem to be the best deal at $25 during dinner. I believe they charged me $5 for a tea, which should be free at an Asian restaurant. The sushi quality is fine, but I would recommend Osaka and Gals over them. Worth a try if youre in the area. The restaurant is a bit hidden from view when driving on Highway 7.

We order takeout from this place almost once a week when I m too lazy to cook. My daughter is super picky with food and she always asks for the same thing, which is the Crunch Roll. And I like their Bento combo which lets me try a wide variety of goodies including Bulgogi, Teriyaki Chicken, Tofu, gyoza and their rolls. Great value for money! And their staff are all very nice and polite too! Plus you get a discount if you pay with cash.

Ive ordered delivery from this place a few times but, ordered for pick up 2 days ago and came in with my son. The environment is very clean and welcoming space. Its quiet, but not too quiet. A very sweet lady who works there gave my son an apple juice which was really kind. We ordered the volcano roll, spicy salmon, spicy tuna and dynamite roll and it was really tasty. Food tastes fresh and purchased a bottle of their saki, too.

Its located on the east end so its a bit of a drive for those living on the other side of Markham. Wait times can be quite long on the weekends and friday nights so make sure to call ahead. Hidden inside a old covered plaza, its very unassuming.

Tuna roll has weird spot, smell and taste funny. informed them and they said thanks for letting us know ! They did nothing ! Did not offer to change it or had stomachache for hours after meal. Secondly washrooms were very dirty. I do not know how these type of place survive !!?

I got the assorted sushi and cali roll set. Very pleased with the sushi. Everything tastes good and not fishy which I usually find with some varieties. Especially liked the salmon, butterfish, and unagi (eel). There was also tuna, shrimp and another white fish.

A bit pricey but once in a while, the food is amazing to enjoy! Id recommend their Yaki Udon, no one else around Markham does it like them! For sushi, gotta be honest, theyre kinda just okay!

Our server was very friendly even though she was quite busy. Presentation of the food is beautiful. It a small, homey restaurant with delicious and fresh raw fish. We sat down for dinner, because my toddler son loves dining in at restaurant. They gave him little kids (trainer) chopsticks to use. I actually really like their shrimp tempura. Their affordable lunch bento is also really good.

This Monday went this restaurant first time for dinner .And it was a curly-haired woman with glasses served us. I think she s looked like a manager. As soon as we sat down she asked what we were drinking, we asked for tea and my boyfriend asked for water. I dont know if were picky or not, she just got a little impatient. Since it was our first time and ordering took time, she came twice and asked if we were ready to order. We said we hadnt thought about it yet and asked her if she had any recommended dishes. She told us that bento boxes are very popular. We just ordered 2 terriyaki salmon with salmon avocado rolls. And we also ordered two specialty rolls. When on the bento box coming,she just threw the food hard on the table. Totally unfriendly. During the meal, we tried to ask her to add water and no one responded, she said let us wait for a while. My boyfriend was thirsty, and a waiter gave us water later. I give 4 stars for the overall food and if a restaurant manager is this kind of service I give her a -5 stars . And she was so loud that I could hear her shouting while I was eating. I hope the owner can pay attention. If this service is in a restaurant, then I think it is not far from closing. Overall an extremely poor dining experience, will never come again.

Located in an unassuming strip mall. We shared a tray (62 rolls for 59$) which was plenty for three adults. Delicious food, very fresh and we had such a friendly and efficient service. 5

Great, reliable sushi restaurant. A la carte Hamachi yellowtail sushi and Hotate scallop sushi are pricey but the best things on the menu. Easily worth the splurge. They also have beautifully tender and creamy salmon sashimi. The super crispy fried chicken Tonkotsu entree is my favourite hot dish. The udon soup is also fantastic. Service is very friendly and the food is very good for the price.

2022 September 3.5 Nestled inside an older plaza, youll find this Japanese restaurant hidden away. Honestly wouldnt have known if it wasnt for Google maps. Assorted sashimi 70pcs - $88 Isnt bad, pretty fresh for what you pay for. Good selection of fish. Though wished there were more options for premium or a better selection mixture of pieces. About a 1/5th of the pieces were salmon. Missing crab sashimi as well. Roll combo 38pcs - $42 Not bad. Would recommend this. Overall, its ok. Good value for rolls. Wouldve like more fish selection in the sashimi platter, but for the price to quality, this isnt bad and is good for takeout. Lots of free parking.

Ventured out to the East side, saw some yelp reviews and decided go try for lunch, hidden in an interesting building complex with covered roof and interior path to each store front so its kind of dim inside. Its interesting that you can create your own lunch combo and the menu has lots of choices. I ended up getting the sushi set and was very fresh and service was great.

Ive looked forward to trying this local sushi restaurant for quite some time. Its tucked away in a neighborhood plaza, and not visible from the main street. However, Im having doubts that Id return after tonights visit Upon my arrival at the restaurant, I waited patiently inside the door to be greeted & seated. I looked around the restaurant and there was an empty table, with no one else waiting. It took about 5 mins for someone (who was later described as the manager) to come and ask if we had a reservation (which we didnt). She mentioned it would be an approximately 10 minute wait, and that we needed to wait outside the restaurant (and sheet gestured her arm out the window). As we waited outside, a kind lady asked us if we were waiting for a table, and then why we were waiting outside. She then insisted that we wait in the waiting area for our table. Upon being seated, the manager came over and asked What do you want to drink as if we were disrupting something. As we continued with our meal, the male server at the restaurant was very kind to us, and would come and ask how everything was going. He showed exemplary customer service, despite his managers poor attitude. As we were eating, another couple came into the restaurant, and was attended to by the manager. They were also asked to wait a couple of minutes, but not asked to wait outside (my table was right beside the door, so could witness and hear everything quite clearly). So this begs the question, why was I being singled out, and receiving such poor attitude/customer service from the manager? To the end of our meal, this manager never once came over to apologize, or explain herself. I guess asking guests to wait outside in the cold is acceptable to her. A simple apology for potential miscommunication couldve saved the experience.

Really, really good sushi. And the salad dressing - some kind of ginger sesame magic - is spectacular (even for dipping sushi)! Tempura is tasty, light and fresh.

Perfect quality sushi

The food is amazing! I always get the chicken cutlet donburi. It is my new favorite, when the servers bring it out its always hot which is perfect! The salad is crisp and fresh the miso soup is nice and warm. The food comes out in a timely manner and its always warm! The service is always friendly and welcoming. When you leave they say bye which is really nice because it makes you feel like a friend and not a walking wallet

Markham Sushi is one of my familys favourite places to eat/take out. We used to go to cheaper sushi places, but once we came here, we could not go back to those other places. The quality of sushi is much better and the prices are reasonable. We typically get a party platter for takeout and are always happy with our food.

I ordered sushi and a dumpling soup and felt so disappointed :( The sushi wasn t even sticking together and the meat was chewy and it was supposed to be crunchy but was soggy; it Tasted as if someone got it from a grocery store. The soup was flavourless and the dumpling over cooked. :c

I loved the food and the services too! The staff are really friendly and they were really terrific! I love to come back one day with a friend!

Food is average. California rolls are below average. I would not return to this place. Food : 2/5

Wonderful service, excellent and fresh fish. The house salad sauce was very tasty, green tea authentic and fresh steeped, and rolls properly sized and cut perfectly. The sashimi platter we had was lovely, as was the ambience. Wish it was closer to home. Wed be regulars.

We have been coming for over 15 years to Markham Sushi, and it remains our absolutely favourite sushi restaurant in all of Markham. Thanks for being the best!
