Fast, friendly, and tasty for an amazing price. Came here on the recommendation of the card shop owner in the mall. In his words this is “the best place in the plaza to eat” and I cannot agree more. Got the Taiwanese sausage and popcorn chicken bento a few times. Both are good, but they’re known for their popcorn chicken. It always comes out hot, crispy and crunchy. Perfectly seasoned as are all their side dishes. For side dishes I recommend the tomato + egg, green beans, tofu, and/or the sliced potatoes (when they have it). It honestly puts the nearby T&T’s cafeteria to shame. The service is also incredibly efficient and friendly. Always get my order quicker than a McDonald’s and long lines move fast. The aunties here are extremely fluent in English so it’s really easy to order for non-Chinese speakers. Takeout and cash only, but well worth the hassle of cash. Highly recommended, will definitely come back again :)
Looks delicious. Made fresh daily. Taiwanese take out place with efficient service. They suggest to order ahead to beat the lunch rush.
Food is excellent - the rest is secondary. This Taiwanese style “fast bento” take out place offers excellent and authentic selections of cooked foods. The serving ladies are however quite impatient and pushy to get you to finish picking your food items as quickly as possible….could be an interesting experience if you’ve never been here 👍
Food is awesome and truly Taiwanese! I’ve been visiting them for a decade. Price increased a lot these days. I only wish the amount of food can increase too. It’s enough for a girl but not for a man. Service-wise, the auntie who speaks Cantonese is very rude. Others are kind and nice.
Great food for the price. Got myself a lunch box with popcorn chicken pair with 3 sides total of $13. Service was very nice, and quick. I definitely recommend trying them out.
We ordered two bento boxes with the crispy chicken nuggets as main dish! All the side dishes were tasty too! The fried chicken nuggets were crispy and tasty. The deep fried tofu and the tomato with egg were very nice too. I highly recommend this restaurant although they only offer takeout, but I did not mind to eat these inside my car. The price is very good too! The service was excellent too, fast and efficient!
The best Taiwanese food in Toronto!! Whenever we miss Taiwanese food, we definitely will go there. Highly recommended to their popcorn fired chicken bento 鹹酥雞便當! They do offer different types of main dish, one bento will come with three other dishes which you can see and choose from there. Their bento pricing is super affordable and competitive. Please give it a shot if you haven’t tried it.
3.5* Service was fast in this iconic taiwanese bento restaurant. I went thinking there was indoor seating. There isnt. The side dishes were plentiful but I wish there were more green veg options. Overall, it was alright. I felt like the food was underseasoned.
The best salted crispy chicken! Authentic Taiwanese flavor!
The more you eat, the more expensive it becomes
Famous Salt Crispy Chicken
As a Taiwanese, I can only say that it is so delicious.
The checkout lady is of very poor quality. Even though I am Taiwanese, I find it embarrassing, but the food is delicious
Good place
Like their pop corn chicken. Have been enjoy their food for years. Thanks
Nipple meat
The price has increased again
A very simple and good place for quick food. You ask for what you want and you almost immediately get your order. Food taste good too. Cash or E-transfer only.
This place is always bustling with activity. Not uncommon to see a lineup of people infront of this tiny take out store They offer a bento box like meal where you choose your main protein ontop of a bread of rice and then your choice of three sides They are well known for their Taiwanese Popcorn chicken (available in the bento box style mentioned above or on its own snack size Asides from this, you gotta try their preboxed cold noodles! So simple (noodles, grated veggies and egg) but its their secret sauce that makes this meal pop! Give them a try!
Delicious and a little salty
Felt like they added a lot more MSG in their food. Had the popcorn chicken rice today and was thirsty all day after eating.
Got popcorn chicken and deep fried squid balls. The popcorn chicken was good, but the squid was good, but nothing too special.
I usually buy three cups of chicken for 6 yuan, but today it was because no one was around when I bought it, and the aunt gave me a chicken leg bone and I said I didn t want that piece. Why dont you just give me a piece of chicken? She also kept telling me that everyone has a chicken leg bone. When I first bought it??? I was too lazy to pay attention to her.
One of the best Taiwanese take-out places in the GTA. For $9 you get a main of a Taiwanese staple e.g. popcorn chicken, taiwanese sausage, minced meat, fish, etc. with white rice and three side dishes such as vegetables, tofu, fish balls, green beans, etc. all assembled in a small take-away container that closeby resembles a bento box but more portable. Its about the size of an iPad mini but full to the brim and surprisingly filling. No seating area inside but you can take it away then enjoy it at the Metro Square food court closeby. Service is aloof but quick. Popular for those in the know when craving Taiwanese.
A traditional Taiwanese bento that you can try
Food quality is not bad. The mean Asian girl behind the counter provided unacceptable service. Be aware of the mean girl attitude.
Super authentic Taiwanese bento box!!!! Highly recommend and the price is good as well
Back again! This is a MUST TRY when in the area. Great portions. Each bento comes with 3 sides & there is always more than 5 options to choose from. Cold noodles are my favourite with a side of Fish cakes (tin-bou-lok) forgive my cbc if the pronunciation is wrong.
It s normal and understandable that the price is expensive, but why are the portions getting smaller and smaller!
Choice of dinner for my family when we dont have time to cook. Fast and the quality is always consistent.
Authentic Taiwanese food, taste awesome, and the price is also very reasonable.
Nice place to have and enjoy Taiwanese food. Take out only!! Food
Relative cheap with good quality. Overran the best Chinese fast food.
The most cost-effective Taiwanese bento, the most recommended is the salty crispy chicken rice, the side dishes are very good
Best customer service and unforgettable tasty food.
I have been coming to this place for years. It really takes me back to Taiwan. They have the best Taiwanese bento boxes in the GTA area. The prices are reasonable, the quantity and quality of their foods cannot be beat when it comes to Asian foods. Very authentic flavours. I have introduced this place to countless friends and coworkers. I highly recommend their popcorn chicken! Cash only and take out only. It gets really busy around lunch hour, so come earlier or later.
It doesn t feel as delicious as cooking it myself
The side dishes (black fungus mushroom aka Woodear mushroom, potatos and seaweed knots) are super tasty pop corn chicken is good too but the sides just blow my mind I chose popcorn chicken bento. How it works choosing 1 kinds of meats and 3 kinds of sides with rice. This is my first time trying. The price is $13 for what I got. There are much more side options like tofu, veggies, tomato egg, green bean etcs. I went around 6pm most things like braised pork I heard it s sold out. So just make you go early to get what you want.
The portion of the dish was very small, and the aunt who served the food deliberately gave very little. The recommended hidden menu was expensive and not delicious. The beef was not chewy at all and was not fresh. The service attitude was poor and the price was expensive! Wont go there again!
I have been buying for more than 10 years. Today, I calculated the price for the first time and took the corresponding money to wait for the payment. In the end, I was charged more than I prepared? Buying so much over the years has never been a big deal, and every time I feel a little suspicious of overcharging, but thinking about it, I don t care about 1 or 2 yuan. Because every time I make 3 lunch boxes plus other things, snacks or other things. Is it because I ordered too much and you paid the wrong amount? So disappointed! Its really too much!
Braised pork rice bento + pork liver? , fungus, dried tofu and large intestine (The side dishes are delicious. The braised pork is average. Rice is not good Although the side dishes are delicious and the food in the store has high expectations, the portions are really too small compared to the price. The quality of the rice and the portion of the main braised pork are very disappointing.
Taiwanese style popcorn fried chicken with 3 veggie sides for $13. This is a quick take out spot (not seating) with different meat and vegetable options that change daily. Food : 5/5
It s as delicious as Richmond s Genting
Can t go wrong with cheap and yummy food!
Delicious Taiwan Bento Boxes from Hualien, Taiwan! Popcorn chicken is a must try (if you like spicy, ask for spicy popcorn chicken & you won t regret it)!!
A real true Taiwanese place where you can experience the most local taste of Taiwanese food. Even though they only sell bentos, all their food were so well made and diligently packed so I have good experience for every visit I pay.
A popular option for Taiwanese popcorn chicken. They let you choose from a variety of small dishes/sides to add to your meal, which is a bit different from other places that give you the standard veg without any choices. The place is takeout only and usually gets busy during mealtimes, and parking can also be a bit hectic given the numerous eateries in the plaza, but service is typically fast and efficient.
It doesnt taste like before at all. It tastes terrible. The worst restaurant in Taiwan is better than this one. I heard that it has changed owners. Only the signboard is the same, but everything else has changed!
Updated pricing photos. June 16, 2023
Enjoy the food here but be careful you might get another bento box home if you don t check it. Don t think about the guests at all, give out bento boxes indiscriminately, and keep an eye on your own food
It s good Taiwanese place to eat in Toronto although small portions with msg !!!!!
Owner has changed and the overall quality of food, service and atmosphere is no longer as good---very disappointing. Taste is not taiwanese anymore, little details such as meat sauce on rice and complimentary soup/drink is no longer included in the meal purchase. In addition, the dine-in seating has also unfortunately been removed.
Is it no longer the Taiping incense it used to be? It has completely lost its luster. The food no longer tastes Taiwanese. If the operator is changed, they should no longer use its name to mislead consumers. They feel cheated and drove a special trip to buy it. I am very disappointed. Not only that, the attitude is extremely bad. Even giving one star is a shame. , if there are points deductions, they will definitely be punished, let alone hoarding? ? ? ? ? How is it possible 4 .3 stars, must be promoted by the Internet army? ? ? ? ? ? It s so bad, it really blows up the original font size? ? ? ? ? ?
Absolutely shameful portions. The portions were never generous in this place even 5+ years ago, but at least passable. Now? Prices have raised like 3+ times every single year and portions have shrunk to barely half. They are so stingy with portions that no normal guy will feel full after eating here - you literally need to buy two boxes. It s not even enough food for most ladies. What I found funny and pathetic was the response given by the owner was they re trying different takeout boxes - seriously? Do they think we re all idiots or something and can t tell portions are absolutely tiny now? As for the taste - it s your average food court level food. I ve never been a fan of this place to start with, but the taste is even worse than before the pandemic. I seriously have no idea why people eat here. Service is absolutely terrible, extremely impatient and rude servers, raising prices literally every other month, while reducing portions with every price increase.
It was my favourite Taiwanese bento restaurant. Unfortunately, this place is going downhill over the past few years. I tried again last week and was shocked to see portion size becoming so small. Will not come back.
YYDS
Red hair in food . Disgusting
Food is super tasty, portions are very small so the cost is a bit on the expensive side for what you get. Theres always line ups but they are fast and efficient.
Nowadays, there is only one piece of braised fish in a braised fish and rice bento... The portion is getting smaller and smaller, even girls cant eat enough series
Bad attitude! Small portion
Changed ownership. Rice quality has deteriorated. The salted crispy chicken is not crispy anymore
I have been ordered from them at least once per months for the last 20+ years. Unfortunately, I found the food quality has been degraded recently. It s getting too salty, more carbohydrates (rice) than veggies (may be due to they changed to paper box), and sand in veggies (at least twice I found in a single month). I hope the cook or owner can read this and rectify the issue and get back to their good quality.
Have been had them for the past a few years, still one of the most affordable place to have your lunch fulfilled, the food quality are pretty consistent over years.
Haven t had this kind of fried chicken since I left Taiwan. One of the best in Toronto, 10/10
The food is most definitely not the same as before and NOT taiwanese. We got one popcorn chicken rice and one separate popcorn chicken snack. The chicken is not fried with correct flour and most definitely not marinated and not seasoned well. Overall the food is very under seasoned. Hubby tried one bite and spit it out. Feeling sad that one less place to remind me of home in Ontario.
Delicious take out popcorn chicken. Fresh. Hot. Tasty. Great batter.
Salted crispy chicken rice is equally delicious, but the price is getting more and more expensive.
Love the food. Price has kept the same even everything else is in inflation
tasty! Come often! The lady serving the dishes has a bad temper, but the cashier has a sweet voice and a cute temperament! But it seems to be under renovation recently
My favourite spot for Taiwanese take out. They have the best popcorn chicken Ive ever had. And I love the choice of 3 veggie sides you get. If you come during peak dinner time, be prepared to line up a bit (average 10min).
Great value Taiwanese styled bento take away! Great fried chicken cutlet and popcorn chicken. But sometimes the popcorn chicken is slightly too fatty for my liking
They serve the best Taiwanese side dishes Ive had in town. My usual order is the side dishes bento which makes for a satisfying (and vegetarian) meal. We walked in tonight 5 min after closing, thinking their hours went till 8pm. The staff let us order anyway and were helpful throughout- thank you!! We made a quick decision and got 2 popcorn chicken bento boxes. The chicken was fried right then, before they disposed of the oil for the night. My boyfriend is a carnivore but was convinced that the gluten pieces were meat because theyre that flavorful! Each box was under $10 before tax and the serving sizes are super generous, I always have enough for lunch the next day
Very much likely to recommend my favourite Taiwanese restaurant. They have the best popcorn chicken in GTA so far and many more!!
Decided to try this place after seeing good reviews online. Pictures can be deceiving as the portions are smaller than anticipated. I got a good amount of popcorn chicken. However, I would not recommend getting the sausage. They only give you one piece and it was dry and hard. I also felt extremely rushed to order, especially as someone who does not speak Mandarin/Cantonese. The overall flavour of the food was good, but I dont think I would return. I feel like there are tastier places out there that offer a better value.
It tastes delicious and the product is stable.
Quick service and good portion size.
Won the prize
I live in Brampton but whenever I m in Toronto I try to make my way to Markham for a snack especially The Popcorn Chicken. (yummmmmmy)Sometimes I bring it back up and it tastes great even after I reheat it up in the oven. The spicy powder got the kick! Love it!
The best Taiwanese bento box I ve ever had in Ontario.
Love it! A hidden gem in Markham.
I m the regular. Enjoy eating popcorn chicken on rice. Love having the choices on side dishes. Their popcorn chicken is bomb! You can actually taste the chicken! Recommend this place. Losing one because of services. Some ladies are nice some are a little rude.
Its my favorite place~~~ Its so delicious~~ If I pass by this place, I always stop by and buy a packed lunch.
Ive been coming here for the past 5 years. The food is good, although the price went up from years back (well, inflation, I get it). Its one of those dishes that as a Taiwanese kid, you just gotta have once in a while.
Usually I would give this place a full 5 stars but last time just want quite as good as they usually are. I had ordered the fried chicken breast for the first time and it wasnt very good (the boneless fried chicken leg is MUCH better) but the pork chop I also ordered wasnt as good as before. Ill still order from here as its one of my favorite Bento shops and hopefully next time everything will be back to the quality I have gotten used to from this shop.
Average food
Tai Ping Xiang, Taiwan bento Sufficient ingredients, good taste, reasonable price Recommended salt crispy chicken What a great place for simple Taiwan take out food Must try and you won t regret!!!
Try this place because of their high score, but not impressed. The chicken popcorn was too sweet and oily...the minced pork was so salty, and the basil chicken was dry...Feel like they are too busy that is going out of control? Hope they can improve it because we need family style cooking in Toronto. The service was good.
Great spot for Taiwanese bento. Popcorn chicken is juicy and full of flavour, and there is a good selection of pick your own side dishes that get rotated regularly. Food is usually fresh and hot because they have very, very high turnover. Have never been disappointed with any of the veggie offerings. Some people complain about the Taiwanese sausage being dry and hard but uh that s kind of how they re supposed to be. The sausage is chewy, slightly sweet, and a great addition to any bento, IMO. Wait times at lunch can be somewhat long but they try their best to stay efficient. Some complain about the service being unfriendly, but I ve never found this to be the case. I would rather they be curt with 15+ people in line, keeps things moving. Overall would recommend, great spot
Best Taiwanese popcorn chicken ever
Love the taiwanese food . Gina and the crew are awesome.
Very small portion of 3 side dishes (few pcs each only)-with tax $12. Badly organized, waited 25 mins, plus given wrong box. Weis Taiwanese Foods @ Birchmount/Sheppard-HUGE DELICIOUS portions for $8.50+tax.
It used to be my favorite place to buy lunch boxes. It also used to be a place where Taiwanese side dishes tasted good, there were many dishes, the price was affordable and it was humane. *****So sorry! Now the taste is bad! The dishes are missing! The price is expensive! The waiter has a bad attitude!
yyds
Their overall selection is decent but the overall quality lacks in comparison to Wei s and Papa Chang s. There are many decent choices for cheap eats in this plaza s food court so it s quite interesting why this place won t try to serve bigger portions for the prices they charge.
Popcorn chicken not as good as before, portion is smaller than before.
Affordable, consistent quality, good choice for lunch
Ive lost count of how many times Ive purchased their takeout. I love their food. I love that they always have a lot of selections for side dishes. (And these side dishes are not just pickles and cabbage like most other places.)
This is one of the best kept secrets in the GTA. The bento box is an absolute bargain, and they have the best Taiwanese popcorn chicken Ive ever had, and that includes many places Ive been to in Taiwan. This might be the best popcorn chicken in the world.
Best popcorn chicken ever.
Great place for Taiwanese food. Got to try it.
Best popcorn chicken Bento in town, when I am near I always pick ok up to go, if you enjoy your Taiwanese food, this is the place to be.
Best place for Taiwanese popcorn chicken. It is my regular go to. My family has been going there for at least 15-20 years. The food is always tasty and it is quite affordable too.
salty chicken is delicious, and could pick 3 kinds of veg.
Here only cash
Great food. Only downside is that its too busy.
Completely replicates Taiwanese bento flavor
This is the best Taiwanese food in Toronto!
GREAT FOOD - DIDNT GIVE 5 STARS BECAUSE THEY DONT OFFER DEL - ON BUSY DAYS, I LIKE TO ORDER IN AND THEY DIDNT OFFER THAT SERVICE NOR ARE THEY ON ANY DELIVERY PLATFORM :(
Amazing Taiwanese bentos!
Takeout only. The sides that come with bento boxes are very good.
Foods been consistent for the last 5 years since coming here. Post covid the portions are slightly less which I get but the food is still great and would definitely come back.
I was touched to be able to eat such delicious Taiwanese food abroad, which comforted many people s homesickness.
Is it the only place to get Taiwanese style pick-your-own side dishes lunch box? Love all their side dishes
Best Taiwan bento
Service here is amazing! Fast and very clean. The food looks fresh and smells awesome. Do come and give this place a try , you wont be disappointed!!
Nice place for bento, its convenient.
Been here a few times now. I love the popcorn chicken bento, Braised pork chop and the Raised chicken leg. Always tasty home cooked meal. Cash only.
Best place in town if you would like a bento that s cheap, fresh and large portion! We have been going this place for the past 3-4 years at least one time per week. The staffs are amazingly friendly and food just absolutely delicious. We especially love their fish nuggets which is rare to find in the city. All the sides are so tasty and make the meal complete!
Try it and you won t regret it! Popcorn chicken is a must and don t get intimidated by the layout, they are super friendly!
Every time I go there, the lady boss is very polite and chats with her. Although sometimes the service staff is a bit impatient, there is nothing unacceptable about just buying a bento. For those who say that the service attitude is not good, it is more convenient to go to a Western restaurant and pay a 20% tip to enjoy the service.
Great Taiwanese bento takeout place. Can get busy at times, but the staff work hard to get everyone their meals fairly quickly.
The braised pork rice was salty, too salty. The portions of side dishes are also small, and other dishes taste average.
There are plenty of side dishes to choose from every time Crispy Salted Chicken Bento is super delicious~ There so many side dishes to choose and the Crispy chicken Bento is so delicious.
Taiwan style fast food
Complete scam. Cash only, but would accept e-transfers. When I showed them the auto-deposited receipt on my end, with date, amount, and the correct email for the transfer they provided, they wouldn t acknowledge it, insisting they ve not received it on their end, and refused to give me my food, that I had already paid for!!! Asking me to take out cash to pay for the food, but I ve already paid for it! The money is out of my account and into theirs, as shown on the bank receipt, but they make it sound like I was the one who made a mistake, when in fact their email notification was just not instant. They should be ashamed of themselves.
delicious
Authentic Taiwanese cuisine! We love the popcorn chicken and get it pretty much every time. Prompt service, friendly staff, and delicious side dishes. We would come here every day if we lived closer!
0/5 rating if I would. How do I put this? It was all wonderful when the original owner started the business in the 90s. The food was truly delicious. The owner was indeed from Hua-Lien Taiwan. However, the food went south after the business was sold to a different management several years after, probably around 2005 and I told myself I will never go back again, but once for a while I still go back and check it out. It s probably just to give them another chance. The experience has gotten worse and worse. Today I visited the restaurant again and I can t stand it any longer and decide to write this review. I won t give this restaurant another chance ever again from now on! Period. The chicken is not fresh, especially the chicken legs, by the smell of it! The sausage is hard as rocks. The marinated egg is salty to a point that can t be swallowed at all! Most of the food is salty. We got to drink lots of water after all. I am not sure why the rating is still good, despite of the negative experience encountered over the decades. Truly hope the current management would reflect and improve conscientiously!
Very very very good authentic Taiwanese Bian Dang. Theyre famous for their salt and pepper popcorn chicken. But I think everything there taste amazing. Perfect for a quick lunch. They only take cash so remember to bring cash. Lunch time can be really busy with long lineup so plan your time accordingly.
The best place for Taiwanese lunch / dinner box in Toronto. Very consistent good food quality for over past 20+ years.
The food is still so good even after being open for many years. Portions are big and price is good. Honestly cant say enough good things about this place.comfort taiwanese food is the best! My go to is the pork chop or the pork corn chicken. Love love love this place.
The most authentic Taiwanese bento in town, delicious, efficient service and great price.
Aunties employees have a very bad attitude. If you dont want to work, get out. Im not here to eat just to be angry with you, okay? Sooner or later, the stores good reputation will be ruined by this guy.
Some time is a bit salty for my taste. I would give it 3.5 stars but their price is pretty reasonable. So 4 stars. Saw huge line up, so decided to give it a try, went back couple hrs later. A lot of items are sold out. Maybe that s why some of my rice are real hard.
Fast, good service and tasty!
Authentic Taiwanese Bento.
Delicious
My favorite dishes at are their popcorn chicken and fried vermicelli. Their side dishes are also very tasty and interesting. This is one of the few places I don t mind waiting in line for!! There is always a lineup on Saturday. They are closed on Sunday.
Their bento is as delicious as always. My fav is the braised pork chop bento, with a taste that reminds me of home.
Highly recommended this place for Taiwanese food especially popcorn chicken or squid ball. This place has been around for many years my Goto place for popcorn chicken rice ! Best in town ! The line up can be crazy especially time like now. But there staff is super friendly! Also manage the line very well! Even tho that s a long line up but you won t have to wait long. They have a very smooth process from line up to order to pick up food ! The line is moving fast! Food 5/5 Staff 5/5 Price 5/5
I was misled by some Facebook post that someone claimed the foods of this place were good. So I decided to give it a try. Big Big mistake!! The food there was not good at all with small portion. Very limited selections as well. The menu posted on entrance door appeared you can have 15ish choices, ah...this was misleading, because many menu items were not available. So I was forced to make a backup choice that I didnt like so much. It was a fish dish and it was made of mushy low quality fish which felt like tofu in the mouth. 3 side orders all not appealing. The restaurant was run by a few young folks, and I felt they need to improve service attitude too. I wondered some good reviews probably posted by insiders to draw business for themselves. Not recommended and once for all. Wont go back!
Taiwanese fried chicken is a must have item. Would always crave their lunch bento boxes every time were in the area
I arrived around 6:00pm dinner time and luckily the queue wasn t too long. They usually get a bit busy around dinner time. We grabbed 4 orders of their signature Popcorn chicken bentos. The food was very tasty and the price was good for value. You can pick one main course and then choose three different side orders. There was a great selection of side orders. It was a good choice if you crave for Taiwanese food.
The old female workers in this place are extremely rude
Always a favourite place for Taiwanese fried chicken! Large selection of side dishes!
Quick service, lots of variety with side dishes and delicious authentic Taiwanese food!! Would definitely recommend
Its expensive, it doesnt matter. The portion is small, it doesnt matter, but its too slow.
Such a good place for a quick lunch!! Lines can be long during the lunch rush but it goes quick. I usually get the popcorn chicken bento and it comes to about $10. Super filling the delicious plus you get to choose 3 sides!
Every time I said Thank you after making a payment to them, they never responded a thing. They are prone to act like they are the arrogant boss with decent income and social status and assuming an enormous air of superiority towards people.
The best Taiwanese bento (lunch box) place anywhere. Fantastic value and lots of options too in terms of mains and sides to choose from.
Best bbq food
Best Taiwanese popped corn chicken in town!
Affordable price and decent food. Good:-)
Great place, it will 5 stars if they manage to keep the food consistent day to day
When I started eating more vegetarian food, my family found this place in Metro Square. Its a typical hole in the wall chinese restaurant, where service moves quickly and brusquely, and you have to speak up and know what youre ordering beforehand. As long as youre fine with that, the food is excellent. My family enjoyed the pork and chicken bentos, while I found the vegetarian option to be consistently delicious and tasty! Something I could eat regularly without tiring of. The food is kept warm in chafing dishes, and the selection sometimes varies from day to day. I remember lotus root, bamboo, soy and tofu dishes, broccoli and green beans. Paid extra for the marinated hard boiled egg, which was tastier than it had any right to be!
Fast, Filling, Fresh and Delicious Taiwanese style bentos! Exceptionally kind service.
This store may treat customers from mainland China differently or even discriminate against them, because I found that most of the people who gave negative reviews are people who can use simplified Chinese characters.
Tasty bento, very efficient service good choices, cheap.
The braised pork rice is really average, but the fried minced meat is the same price as other rice, which is not worth it. Is this restaurant rated so highly because you have never been to Taiwan? Taiwanese rice is really super delicious and very authentic. This restaurant is really not even 1/4 of their standard. The braised pork rice tastes all about soy sauce and minced meat, while the Taiwanese ones are all in big chunks. The braised pork rice is called braised pork rice if it is longer and slender than the braised pork. It s heartbreaking . I also tried their salted crispy chicken, which seems to be a little better than the braised pork rice.
Economical, delicious and inexpensive
Though this place has BBQ in the name, it is really a Taiwanese lunch box take out place. The side dishes change regularly, but the green beans and tomato egg are my favorite. As for the main dish option, you can t go wrong with the classic stewed minced meat or the popcorn chicken.
The food there is excellent. However, the middle age lady who working in the cashier is totally nonsense! After she touched the cash, she didn t change her gloves/ sanitizer her hands, then went to serve the food, her fingers touched the food when she holding the food container and the inner side of the container cover when she packaging. Which means all the germs on the cash from everyone will go into my food!!!! This is totally unacceptable especially during the pandemic!!!
Taiwanese BBQ Bento box. Choice of meat (like popcorn chicken, fried pork chop, chicken leg, etc) and three side dishes with rice. Good food and good value. Take out only. Happy to see its still in business and busy
Quick and energetic service. If you re here for the first time, you might need to search the names of the side dishes beforehand I ve seen non mandarin speakers confused at what to pick. Sometimes the rice is on the hard side too. But, I assure you it s all gonna be delicious. May be the most authentic Taiwanese place in Toronto.
This was always the go-to place for some Taiwanese Bento. Unfortunately, they jacked up the price and reduced the portion. Why??? Covid Tax???
Staff is cute :3
Most authentic taiwan bento you can get in Toronto
Guarantee this is the best lunch box in town.
The lady boss is super nice! The meals are all delicious! Salt crispy chicken rice and three cups of chicken rice are both great! The home-style stir-fried dishes are very friendly. If you don t bring enough cash, you can just ask She to give it to you next time. All in all, it s very good!
I can only say that I am a foreigner in Toronto. Eat such authentic salted crispy chicken and pork ribs bento. Of course the other dishes are also delicious. Like .
Food still tastes absolutely phenomenal. However, the staff on occasion can be quite rude, and the food prices have been rising pretty steeply over the pass couple of years. Portion size is also smaller than it used to be...
Popcorn chicken was soooo good! And all the employees were super nice as well!
Good price and delicious food.
The only Taiwanese place weve been visiting for the past 20+ years, when we miss home, or have no idea what to eat. We would drive here just to get their bento. Their food is good, though seem to be less and less Taiwanese as time goes... and their Popcorn Chicken Bento seems to taste different as well... We still visit for memory sake. Their service, is definitely the star removed, you have impatient ladies serving you and asking you to move faster. If youre lucky and get served by the owners daughters, then you get better service... Otherwise, order and select side dishes and get out of the way. A downside of this place is definitely the cash only... But, we always make sure we have it when we visit. Well continue to visit till the day it taste nothing Taiwanese anymore.
Oct 2011 Tue noon. Get the corn salted chicken, braised fish benton. Each comes with 1 main and 3 side dishes, though the sides are tiny in quantity. But it is $9 at present living standard. Slight spicy flavor on some item in the dishes. An ideal lunch and would go for other varieties soon. When the pandemic is really over, should try local Taiwanese food in the Formosa land 19 Oct, get Taiwanese meatball combo but sorry in missing the Stir Fry chicken special sauce due to sold out. Other recipes are not my favorite. Alright, mission is accomplished and see you soon. Dec, update rating.
