Don t get me wrong the food tastes amazing ! However, Sandy completely disregarded my boyfriends allergies and I quote told him to just pick it off and when he proceeded to explain to her that it was an allergy she then said well I ve never heard of that before took his food back and proceeded to only pick it off because by the end of the meal his mouth and lips were burning. On top of that, this was during a birthday party at their venue so his food had already been pre ordered with his allergy s listed. Dietary restrictions: Not friendly !

Outstanding food here, moved from Calgary a year ago and have missed restaurants with amazing food. So glad we finally found a place. 100% will be coming back.

We had our small wedding reception in the Rustic Kitchen and Bar banquet room, it was amazing! The room is perfect for about 45 people. The care they took to make sure service was seamless was impressive. The food is exceptional. The atmosphere is romantic and cozy. The staff, oh my goodness, the staff are so kind and fun. If you are considering the Rustic Kitchen for your intimate wedding reception, they will not disappoint. Wheelchair accessibility: This, unfortunately, is not great for disabled folks. There are several stairs that are narrow to get to the banquet room and bathroom.

We were charmed by the quality of service from the kind Amy, the food is excellent, fast service, beautiful atmosphere.

The entire meal was unbelievable. The steak was cooked to perfection and the potatoes were seasoned just right.

Fantastic meal. I had the sablefish.. a special for the day.. and it was perfect. The vegetables were cooked to perfection.. crispy, yet cooked, and the fish was truly succulent and not overcooked. The service was great and I could not have been more pleased with this meal.

Rustic Kitchen was a pleasant surprise when we stumbled upon it. Wonderful food, beautifully prepared and presented. The atmosphere was relaxed and casual yet elegant. Oh, and best fresh made Focaccia bread ever! Highly recommend.

Lived here for a while but never tried the Rustic Kitchen... BIG mistake as we should have tried it much earlier and several times!! Excellent food, exceptional service and just a nice place to visit. Versatile menu and prices are pretty reasonable considering the size of portions and quality of food. Highly recommend it for special occasions OR just a nice night out. Parking: Somewhat limited parking but if you get there early, it is easy.

Really glad we decided to stop here. Dinner was fabulous We had the $89 dinner for two. What a deal! Included a bottle of wine. The lamb entree was tender and delicate. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and flavourful. The jus and mint chimmi was just the perfect accompaniment to it all. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the warm potato salad was something I dreamt about that night. It was THAT good. The lobster dip and homemade chips were a great way to get the meal started. Highly recommend. The calamari was a little underwhelming but still delicious and crispy. Just needed a touch of seasoning. My daughter had the elk pasta and said it was the best pasta shes ever had. Cocktails were on point. Well done. Cant wait to be back next time we pass through. Thank you to our wonderful waitress. She was funny and kind and even brought our little one a blanket

This was our first time here and its a nice place to go for dinner. Our server was great and attentive. The only issue was the kitchen was a little slow and the food took quite awhile to come out and ours was not the only table waiting. When the food arrived it was hot and delicious which made up for the time we had to wait. Overall the food was definitely worth the wait so when we are in the area again we would definitely go back.

My steak was amazing! It melted in my mouth. The acoustics of the room made it difficult to have an intimate conversation.

Just watched the owner. Completely lose it on some poor woman for throwing out a bag of trash in his dumpster to the point she was visibly in tears. He was saying that the hotel s garbage was next door and that that his and he has to clean up crack pipes and rolls of carpet. Obviously this lady was just throwing out junk form her car. I would say that she didn t look like a drug addict, but really that should not matter. Also his restaurant shares the same parking lot with no visible marker where the property line is. I honestly thought it was owned by the hotel. And the genius obviously would rather scream at a middle age woman than go buy a pad lock at dollarama for $3. Was going to check this place out for dinner tonight. Needless to say this guy isn t gonna see a penny of my money. Learn how to treat people and put a sign and lock on your garbage. PS. I used it too

We had a wonderful romantic date dinner at Rustic. Fish of the day salmon with shrimp was delicious as well as scallops to start. Fine dining in the Hat!

My favourite spot in the hat. It s run by a husband and wife and they have created such a wonderful spot. Anytime my husband and I are in the hat we make sure we make time to eat at rustic. The duo of beef is my go to. Great wine selection as well and friendly and dedicated service.

We had the steak meal and it was fantastic. Cooked perfectly and very tasty. Enjoyed ever bite of my meal. The server was friendly and very attentive. Also a huge amount of their menu is Gluten Free or can be made Gluten Free. This is a bonus because most restaurants only have one or two items that can be Gluten Free and thats it, not these guys they have lots. Greatly appreciated. We will be definitely back and highly recommend this for a supper destination. Dietary restrictions: Huge selection of Gluten Free choices.

The food and drinks were fantastic. The bacon and scallops were perfectly cooked, as were the steaks. We tried the Apple Pie and Canadian Blackberry cocktails, and they were great as well. Dietary restrictions: They were able to accomodate gluten-free restrictions.

My only regret is that I rarely get to eat here. This was just my second time enjoying that pleasure. The menu offerings are all so attractive, it makes it difficult to select what I will try. But again, I was craving Amarone wine, so I chose one of their steak dishes. Done to perfection. Great service too. No room for any dessert so I cant vouch for that part, but the spinach salad with beet and cheese was fantastic. I ate on the patio, and there was an abundance of yellow jackets at my table. I think the oil and balsamic bread dip attracted them. I used it as a distraction, while I ate my dinner in peace. I find the Rustic Kitchen delivers good value for your dollar. Not cheap, but they deliver food thats worth the price. And theyll adjust their fare to fit your needs - none of this no changes approach that many restaurants are using. Im a very satisfied customer.

Always a pleasure to go to Rustic Kitchen when I am in Medicine Hat. Friendly staff and the food is always perfect and delicious. I always eat too much but love every minute of it. Great drinks and a nice variety of wine as as well. Beautiful atmosphere too! A great date night spot.

We chose this restaurant based on previous reviews. It is located about a block from the TransCanada Hwy. It has a very clean, welcoming exterior. We were promptly greeted and sat. The restaurant has a outdoor patio, bar and dining room. We opted for the dining room and got Alana for our server. She was excellent in every respect. We both decided on the 8 ounce sirloin steak with salad and potato accompaniments. They offer their own special bread pre-meal, and it was excellent, with oil & vinegar dipping. Our meals came plated on a serving board for an excellent presentation. Our steaks were done perfectly and melt in your mouth good. Menu pricing was very good. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in search of a perfect meal!!

The food and service were really good. It was a bit chilly in the restaurant, and the bathrooms are located downstairs...not an issue for us, but someone with mobility issues may struggle.

This was the second time we have experienced the Rustic Kitchen and we were not disappointed! Four different meals were chosen and all four exceeded our expectations! The only concern would be that the drinks were not what we were hoping for. Caesars were simply vodka and clam with a floating pickle. This could be improved, but the food was fantastic.

The food at rustic kitchen is amazing!! This is our second visit and the both times our food was beyond delicious! The drinks (liquor) could use some work. They were very basic, with little effort.

Unfortunately the kitchen closes a full hour before the posted close time. I purposely booked my hotel nearby so I could walk to dinner. Staff was apologetic, management less so.

I ordered the Salmon with warm potato avocado salad! never had this combination before IT was just DIVINE! flavor was excellent, Infact loved it so much I came back the NEXT day to have it again!! Our server was Amanda she is the friendliest server ever! they got a great Chef making great food! I would highly recommend and i would come back again especially for that Chocolate cheesecake! thank you for such yummy food!

All the food was super delicious and we appreciated having a meal at a restaurant that tastes like everything is truly curated there. My daughter is pretty picky and loved their Mac & Cheese. Drinks were a great price for what you get, and were very good.

Our group of about 10 people sat outdoors on the patio on a lovely summer evening. The food was very good, I had Lobster Dip and chips. Very tasty cheesy sauce. I thought the service was painfully slow. I dont know if they had staffing issues that day or not. Our server was pleasant and did her best, so maybe there were things outside her control. The others in my group all thought the food was excellent. The seafood medley linguine plate got particularly good reviews.

We loved everything about this place! The service was exceptional and the food was brilliant! So flavourful and the perfect portions. Fantastic experience! Dont even second guess your choice, just go!

Great Food at Good Prices. GO EAT HERE!!! The best dinner Ive had in a couple of months! Food is as local as they can get and my rare steak was done perfectly. An interesting menu with good choices. The prices are reasonable considering the increase every place seems to have done in these last 3 years. Staff very outgoing and you feel like youre a friend. Sat outside on their patio and was very comfortable.

What a treasure this is! Incredible cuisine and presentation, it made us feel like royalty! Food is local/regional and atmosphere is relaxed yet professional. Highly recommend!! Parking: No-stress parking! But make reservations because it gets busy after 6!

We loved everything we had here

By far one of Medicine Hats premiere dining destination, the menu pricing is well worth it given the quality of the food overall. Have been on numerous occasion with all our experiences being consistently good, on occasion service can take time but all good things typically take longer. The Elk Pappardelle is consistently one of our favorite dishes offered, bare in mind it can sell out depending on the day. A truly Canadian regional menu with many local venders and producers and ingredients utilized, the Chef does a great job offering seasonal features throughout the year. (Highly recommended)

Lots of bees/wasps on the patio but the staff helped us move inside. They were so nice and accommodating. Apparently the social media person was willing to jump in and help seat and serve while they were busy, amazing! Our server John was very friendly and welcoming to us since were new in town. Thank you so much! This place is awesome.

Amazing food and great service; we will definitely be back! I had the schnitzel and my boyfriend had the roast chicken. The roast chicken was huge and very moist, the schnitzel was a very generous portion as well. I cant wait to go back!

This was our second time here so we were looking forward to the best steak ever. They were cooked perfectly, BUT the one steak was completely grizzled and fat. Tried to chew it. No meat. The server did not notice as he passed by many times, the pile of chewed grizzle piling up on my plate. Only other thing to mention is that I forgot that the house cut fries are tough and cold, both times. My company liked their loaded up pan of baby potatoes ( thought they were to be smashed like last time/menu? )but I cannot eat the cheese and cream on them etc... most expensive steak I never got to eat. Sad, because they do well dibe steak perfectly, when its the meat part of the cow.

Rustic Kitchen is great and my favorite place if you want a great atmosphere, delicious food and excellent service. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food you get. I really like how they choose to use local first. The whole family loves it and know that there is kids meal options available upon request. First time in the beautiful city Medicine Hat, we found this gem of a restaurant. Incredible food, both taste and presentation.

Really good food,second time going, first time going older lady on bar side is decent, (assuming one of the owner) but second time , again bar side ,the younger lady assuming owners daughter, who apparently wrote the new menu of the favorites , was extremely rude , it was like we were a big inconvenience being there, and was chatting it up with her friends the whole time wile working , and didnt not even say thank you for after paying the bill and giving a 20% tip , its not the most expensive but .. its enough that you would expect at least some courtesy. The food was great, but the service ended up ruining it for me.

Rustic has been a favorite of ours in medicine hat, but must say its pretty poor business to refuse a take out order. If you offer take out and delivery service you should honor that.

Service was a little slow this visit. I ordered the butter milk fried chicken, it was delicious and the portion was huge! My wife ordered the sirloin steak. It was perfectly cooked and delicious with good presentation.

Really enjoyed my meal, stopped in for supper and had the chefs fish special, a beautiful glazed salmon with prawns over a hot potato salad with avacado and corn, along with grilled asparagus on the side. The service was quick, and I was served directly by the owner who was very friendly and engaging. Quality food, service, and atmosphere. Will return next time I am back in the area!

This is one of the best restruants in Medicine Hat. They have a small menu that they master. We have never had a bad experience here. The service is amazing and the staff is amazing.

Probably the best restaurant in the city. Excellent chef. Every time I have gone there the meal has been 5 stars. I cant give you a favorite dish off the menu but we had the pecan crusted pickerel last night and it was excellent. All dishes are a big serving size especially the desserts, so go hungry. Also, excellent serving staff.

My wife and I were just in tonight. my wife had the prime ribeye and I got home made pasta. that was the best steak she ever had and the pasta was amazing. Quality and flavor of the meat was amazing.... I would recommend everyone to try that restaurant.

Ordered the Scallops and Bacon to start, with the Beef Duo as the main. Scallops were perfectly cooked. The thick cut bacon beautifully smoked, and the sauce that came with it was amazing. The Beef Duo was the star of the show. Ordered the tenderloin medium rare and it came out PERFECT. the shirt rib came cleanly off the bone. Everything was wonderfully seasoned. 5/5 tenouttaten will DEFINITELY make this a stop when I am in Medicine Hat. Go here.

The reviews I see arent wrong but 5 stars has to knock it out of the park. I dined alone, quick seating, awesome staff. Bacon wrapped steak ends were good but sparse and lonely with only a dip for accompaniment. The two drinks are hard to mess up. 8oz steak ordered medium rare with side Caesar salad and grilled baby potatoes covered with fav toppings, for a thin sliced strip Id say perfectly cooked, the salad tasted like an anchovy oil and not a paste was used but fresh tasting, potatoes are wonderful and indulgent. No dessert ordered. Waitress Les was lovely, appeared new to the menu but saved it by just being super pleasant. Worth a visit and Ill return to try more.

Server was friendly and engaging. The food is delicious. Had home made Saskatoon Berry pie for dessert... Top notch! The restaurant local sources ingredients as well. Only criticism is that the wine list is missing a nice Italian red!!

Legit one of the best seasoned steaks Ive had. Thr potatoes that came with it in the little skillet were also amazing. Only reason I docked the star was the Cesar Salad was meh.

We had reservations and arrived on time at 5.30pm. The waitress took our drinks order and shortly thereafter our meal order. That was completed at 5.50pm. By 6.35 pm we still had no food. We explained that we had tickets for the 7.30pm show of Cirque Soleil. She assured us that it would be ready shortly. At 7.05pm we informed her that we had to leave. As we exited the establishment the waitress came running behind us to say that the food was ready at the counter. Way too late! Very disappointed by lack of service. Also why do you ask serving staff to move full and heavy beer kegs through the dining room? The lady could hardly lift it. Go buy a cheap handcart from Princessauto for them to use.

Great food. Great quality

Jerome was a great server and very tolerant of a loud bunch of Pickleball players. The burrata starter was delish and we got extra foccacia bread. My main was the seafood linguine which had a goodly amount of seafood including scallops, shrimp and fish.

Recently took a large party to the Rustic Bar and Grill. The service was incredibly friendly and very accommodating when we needed to make changes on the fly. The menu is delicious!! Every person loved their food! The starter focaccia bread is light and fluffy. The appetizers (we had the scallops and lobster dip) were to die for. The Nashville chicken and seafood linguine were soooo good. Definitely will be returning.

This place is always an experience and the food is nothing short of incredible. For the price of a high end burger I got BBQ beef, sirloin tips with Gouda cheese a tangy Sauce and fresh mushrooms. Throw in some crispy fries and don t forget the pickle garnish! Mom had the lamb and again, they did not disappoint! If you are in the Hat, stop for an amazing bite to eat at Rustic!

We tried the Rustics a few years ago, and it was a great experience, food, service, atmosphere, everything was nice. We decided to try again this weekend, and it was a deception, I tried like last time the lamb, I do not know what happen, but maybe now its a too much exotic food for the chef. No flavour, no taste, no aroma at all. Exactly like this meat was frozen for a long time. It will be a long time before we get back there. Its a shame, otherwise its a very quiet and pleasant place

Not one to write bad reviews but this was a terrible restaurant experience. We arrived at 7:00 and didn t leave until 9:00pm. We waited for over an hour to receive our food and another half hour to receive the bill. We are really understanding people and would have appreciated some effort on the server s behalf to at least acknowledge we had been waiting a long time. Instead, she downplayed how long we had been waiting and barely came to check on us. To top it off, the food was sub par. Extremely unprofessional service and mishandling of issues that could have been addressed and mitigated.

Had a reservation and was seated immediately and given menus and water. Server said she would be right back to take our drink orders. 20 mins later still no drink order taken. Walked out and went to a different eating establishment. Service was embarrassing. Will not be going back.

Food was fantastic and so was the service. There isnt much for kids at all and they dont have a kids menu. Our 9 year old ordered the mac and cheese. The waitress informed us that the plate was very hot however we didnt expect that it had actually just come out of the broiler hot. My daughter commented on just how hot it was when she accidentally touched the plate. I checked it and was quite surprised that I could barely touch it for a second. Wish they would fix this. Otherwise it was good.

Here from out of town on Saturday night, as such we made reservations. Pork schnitzel was really good as were the 2 veggie sides (green beans and beets) but I wasn t a fan of the sauerkraut or the Spaetzle. Husband had the $50 steak but the thicker end was quite undercooked. He wasn t asked if he wanted a second drink and our waters were all empty.

Lovely family outing with a great atmosphere. Unique choices on the menu that were very tasty. Knowledgeable, pleasant staff.

One of our favourite places to stop when we come to town. Food is delicious and service is always welcoming and friendly. We like to sit in the lounge and find it very relaxing. Schnitzel is our top favourite dish but all of it s very good. Pasta is made in house as well and worth a try. We will always be back.

While visiting a friend in Medicine Hat for the first time I asked some of the local.vendors on where to eat the rustic came up on both occasions. I made a reservation for.friday night and arrived hoping for the best. I was not disappointed We started with the Maple pork belly scallops and had the braised shorts ribs as our main. Everything down to the roasted beet and carrot vegetable was top notch. I have worked as an executive.chef for 15 years and honestly did not have high expectations for supper. The food surroundings and staff were great definitely A.must for anyone traveling through Medicine Hat. The missing 5 star review is only missing because I still.look forward to trying the rest of the menu.

Our favourite spot for date night! Food is fabulous and the lounge server is humourous and efficient.

This is literally one of my favorite restaurants in all of Canada. I travel coast to coast and in-between on a regular basis. Everything is always amazing, I wont bother explaining each dish, just go!!!

AMAZING FOOD

Once again Rustic Kitchen impressed me. If you are looking for great service, tremendous plating, food that will tantalize the taste buds this is the restaurant for you. I love the decore, very unique and all the staff are excellent. Some word of advice, save room for desert. I recommend the creme brulee. You get what you pay for if Excellent Food is what you are looking for.

The food and the staff were friendly and amazing. They were on it whenever our drinks got low, and the bathrooms were very clean. I would highly recommend this place for any kind of function you might need a venue for. KUDOS to all the staff!

My buddy and I arrived at Rustic just before the kitchen closed. We were driving from Lethbridge to Medicine Hat after playing golf in Lethbridge earlier that day and I told my buddy to make sure he had a good appetite as he would be pleasantly surprised by the restaurant in the parking lot of our hotel. As mentioned, we just made it in time to order and sat outside on their patio in the warm summer evening with patio lights and music in the background. He ordered the rib dinner and I the seafood pasta. As they delivered them to our table, we looked at each others order with envy but knowing how good our own order looked. The pasta was heaven and my buddies ribs were the same. With a little wine to accompany our dinner, we were absolutely stuffed and completely satisfied. The staff was excellent as was the service and food. My friend said hed definitely be back next time he was in town. Ive ate at Rustic a handful of times before this and have always had the same exact experience. I am more than happy to recommend anyone thats in town for business or someone local having a date night that this is one of Medicine Hats most exceptional restaurants and I should know as I am in town for business quite often and have tried most of the cities restaurants.

This is our first time to Medicine Hat. We came to the Rustic Kitchen, sat outside very nice. Other customers came in after us they had food on the table before we had our appetizer, our server was slow and confused . Over all its a friendly place great food but quite slow. It has a poor beer selection for a local restaurant you would think they would serve local beers.

Service was excellent, she knew her menu very well. Food was excellent, although steak was a bit overcooked to my taste, but tenderness and made up for it. Great experience on the patio!

Food was delicious, friendly service, and good portions

After a 10 hr travel day, headed from WPG to BC - my BF & I made a overnight stop in Medicine Hat, choosing to dine at Rustic Kitchen & Bar. We are SO GLAD we did! After first browsing the menu online, we initially felt like we were underdressed, but wanted to try the food so bad that we went anyways. Not only was the in house prepared food 10 star quality, but also our server Jeremy JJ was extremely friendly & personable, not skipping beat when it came to updating us on our order status & keeping our drinks full! To top it all off, it was recommended that we try Sally s famous butter tarts & since the food was SO GOOD - naturally we had to try . & we were BLOWN AWAY!! Thank you so much Rustic Kitchen for the AMAZING food & also to JJ for making our dining experience one to remember!!

This is without a doubt the BEST place to go for a quarantined fabulous meal. Well worth every penny. Whoever their chef is needs an award for top quality unique dishes. Love it! Seems to be our first choice now.

The tables are set up in a jumbled, randomized order and it throws off the whole vibe. It feels more semi formal (like if Earls tried to go ritzy or something lol) there was definitely more older crowds at lunch (50+) I did not go to the bar side. Food is AMAZING, you definitely get what you pay for. Compliments to the Chef & Sous. Staff seem awesome, very kind and accommodating.

Great spot! Waiter Jeremy was friendly and helpful, spot on with his advice. Beet and spinach salad was delicious and the elk ragout a nice treat. Excellent!!

Amazing food and service. Chef Orchard is a master of his craft and Sandee always makes you feel right at home. The atmosphere is the nicest Medicine Hat has to offer! Rustic, romantic, beautiful... Highly highly recommend!

The snitzel is amazing and its worth the drive alone. Excellent food and atmosphere.

Been here 5 times in 3 years. 3 times, the order for steak was not cooked close to requested doneness in fact rare for a medium and once for myself, well done when I requested medium rare. My spouse is Gluten and Celiac, and despite pre warning the server of her serious reaction to possible cross contamination and the servers re-assurances they would do the best they could for her, twice she was ill within minutes of injestion of her entree. For the pricing and the so, so entrees, a visit to the Keg visit would be a better recommendation all around.

Kind of like a local Keg. Food was tasty. Ceasar salad dressing was a disaster.

Food was excellent. Service was very good. All covid19 protocols are being followed, so a very safe place to dine. The lamb dish was very good as was the roasted beet and feta salad. The bacon wrapped scallops were also very good. Highly recommended if youre in the Medicine Hat area.

Food and drink was good, the service was below sub par as well as the washrooms were unclean.

Great supper!! Fresh authentic bread, a seafood pasta with bountiful shellfish, luscious juicy burger and topped off with a banana pie that was crème caramel in disguise..decadent!! If in Medicine Hat, youll need to try this place - more than once, I think. Evening only.

One of my fave meal

My wife and I were travelling through Medicine Hat on vacation. We were staying at the hotel next door so we thought we d check Rustic Kitchen out. Patio was busy but the inside bar and restaurant were pretty much empty. No hostess but 3 waitresses, 1 bartender and a manager on staff. We stood at the front door as the manager and the waitresses passed by us a few times. I said to one of the waitresses that we d like to place an order of two chicken burgers to go. She replied with, I ll ask the cook if he s doing take out orders....what? She came back to say the cook said no. I said we could come back in an hour. She went back to ask the cook if he could accommodate that request. She came back saying it could be done in 90 minutes lol. I said we ll just go somewhere else. No organization and the staff they have is lost!

It was finally a meal that I was so happy with and could tell lots of time went into it!!! Definitely would recommend and go back!!

Graciously accommodated a large group for a post-funeral celebration of life. Very friendly staff.

Everything was very well executed and seasoned perfectly. Could definitely tell the pasta was properly made would definitely reccomend.

Cant say enough about this restaurant! Food was amazing and the service was fantastic! Our family is in from our of town to be with a family member in the hospital. We were all tired and starving. We found the perfect restaurant!! Thank you for making our day better!

Great food, nice decor, abbreviated menu due to covid, excellent service, reasonable cost and short wait times. I had the sausage and shrimp pasta. Highly recommended. Always great presentation, good portion sizes and superb service. If you are looking for a nice meal out that has always been consistent, Rustic should be your choice!

Service is usually good but this is the second time in a row they have run out of bread. They also ran out of mashed potatoes this time. Also the downstairs stinks and the bathroom really needs an upgrade.
