Rosewood Bistro in Medicine Hat

An absolute must if you enjoy great food in a great atmosphere. Top five in the city.

Walked in tonight and it wasn t overly busy. After a minute or two wait at the door we were seated and waited 17 minutes before we left. We didn t receive water or menus in that time. Heard good things, saw the spot on Chat-TV and was excited to try it out but was sadly disappointed.

Drove around lovely Medicine Hat for a bit until our GPS took us to this Bistro. It has a 50s vibe and was a little gem opposite the railway station. Homemade soup in a big bowl and we were on our way. Prices were reasonable and service great. Food

We came into rosewood Bistro, we had Kampala as our server, she was very nice and we had great service!!! We asked her to share her language with us , hello/goodbye!! And we enjoyed our time with her as our server!!! Thank you Kampala!!!! Good food too!!!!!

Food was really really amazing, had to say thank you to the kitchen staff directly l. Very warming welcoming environment. Server was absolutely terrific wouldnt be complete without her. I most definitely will be coming back. Wish I came here sooner.

There would seem to be a problem obtaining younger cuts of beef to avoid all the gristle!!!

Too busy Mothers Day lineup for brunch. Food table should be set up so customers can serve on both sides of table. I did notice customes left because it was too busy even though they had reservations

My mom kindly made reservations at Rosewood Bistro for us to celebrate Mother s Day brunch. I had been to the bistro one other time and really enjoyed it so was looking forward to good food in charming surroundings. Instead, it was a disorganized disaster. From the moment we walked in for our noon sitting, I knew we were in trouble. The servers (of which there were 2 or 3 for a beyond packed restaurant) seemed overwhelmed and scattered. We were handed a really dirty high chair for our baby and left to awkwardly sit along with the other noon guests for quite some time until they came around for our drink order. Luckily, we were one of the first groups to be told to go up to the buffet because some guests waited up to an hour to get to the food because it was so jam packed and poorly organized. The buffet was tucked away in a corner of the restaurant and was super hard to get in and out of. The cold offerings were just okay with a few salads (we were some of the first guests to eat at the noon sitting and they were already half gone which was odd you think they would make fresh salads for a new sitting) and pastries. The hot offerings were better and a nice variety but they had super hot lids covering them so hot that both me and my mom burnt ourselves. There was a huge lineup the entire time we were there which was quite disruptive to the tables in the lineup path and it moved SO slow because of the inefficient way it was set up. You could see many of the guests were unimpressed and a few even walked out because they did not want to wait an hour to eat (when they had a noon reservation sitting). I talked to a few others and it was so poorly run, it was comical and a topic of discussion. We couldn t go up for seconds because of the lineup and it was basically impossible to get up to the dessert table to check out those offerings because of the terrible set up. Instead of feeling like a special mom on Mother s Day, I felt like I was part of a herd of cattle. We spent $200 for this treatment (one alcoholic beverage each) and it felt like highway robbery since we couldn t get our money s worth. The food itself was pretty darn good but it was hard to overlook everything else. Hopefully there were lessons learned for the next special brunch offered. A few simple suggestions: - stagger reservations instead of having sittings because that clearly did not work - have cutlery and water available at the table. - accept fewer reservations to have a more specious buffet area -more waitstaff

I have eaten here before and quite enjoyed my meal, however, this time I left feeling underwhelmed and unsatisfied with the food. I ordered the half rack of ribs. It was by far THE smallest half rack I have ever had. 5-3 bones with the smallest amount of meat. I would say if I had weighed out the meat only it would have totalled no more than 3 oz. The plate was heavy on fries and bread (which i do not eat) Perhaps I should have sent it back. A half rack should have been more than enough to fill me without the filler food. Sorry to say I would never order again or recommend this dish.

SUPERB restaurant

We just enjoyed a super quick lunch at Rosewood Bistro. It was our first ever experience there and we were so pleased! Our server was a Namreta; so friendly, fast and professional. When we told her we were in a bit of a hurry due to an appointment, she quickly got us set up with everything we needed for a very enjoyable lunch. The food was excellent as well; very reasonably priced for generous portions. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and we are planning our return visit already

The Sunday Brunch was excellent! Decent amount of choices and all very tasty, I typically like my breakfast sausages cooked little more, but they bacon was great and the eggs Benny was phenomenal. Fresh hashbrowns were perfectly crispy. Decent price as well.

Warm, friendly atmosphere and the food is absolutely delicious. Its my new go-to place for comfort food. Even my hubby, whos typically very picky and rarely raves about restaurant food, loves Rosewood and has asked to go back multiple times. We cant recommend Rosewood enough!

This is definitely not the original Rosewood Café. I rarely complain but this food was horrendous. I actually took a photo of my eggs Benedict because my hollandaise sauce was dark brown and pure grease, and my eggs were burnt, I wish I could post the photo but Google will not let me. This café is rated 4.7 stars because of the original owners unfortunately the food is nothing like it used to be. I would definitely avoid this place. I wouldn t even give it a one star unfortunately I have to give it something but to me this is a zero star

This place has the best tasting food for a sit down restaurant. Wow. Everything is sooooo fresh. Great menu selection, great service and casual atmosphere. The prices are extremely reasonable. Highly highly recommend.

My friend and I come to Rosewood often. It s our favourite breakfast & brunch place. It s perfect for couples or groups as it has a very comfortable atmosphere. Because we love Rosewood so much, we had asked for Sourav to cater our wedding brunch! He catered an amazing breakfast and it was displayed beautifully as well. He delivered and picked up the serving equipment. Would highly recommend!

Great food and such a variety, from burgers to butter chicken. The prices were so reasonable, the service polite and timely, and the atmosphere wonderfully eclectic and homey. The crowning touch was the live music. Highly recommend. Parking: Right on North Railway. We didnt see a parking lot, but we were able to find a spot close so it wasnt a problem.

Hands down the best brunch I have had in Medicine Hat, everything was delicious. 100% will be back

This evening was the first and last time I will ever eat food from this restaurant, they call themselves a High-end Bistro but the quality of the food very disappointing. BBQ Pulled pork and Burger were soggy, Onion rings were the same ones you buy at Dairy Queen so that speaks for itself, and the Nanaimo bars were actually atrocious, you re better off buying them from Costco and selling them that way. Absolute waste of $.

we went in at 4:30 on friday night for the buffet, lots of variety, tasty dishes freshly made on premises. ate til we were stuffed, about $26 each for dinner buffet. chef came out during meal and put hot, fresh naan bread on our plates. if you like indian food, you ll like this.

Excellent buffet with a wide assortment of dessert. One of the highlights were delicious veg lasagna and the ribs not to mention the chicken sovalaki was absolutely mouth watering. Will definitely be coming back for the buffet!!

The Rosewood was a delightfully eclectic brunch experience. The atmosphere was pleasant and the staff were friendly. It appeared that a new staff was being trained, the patience shown to them was so good to see as they struggled with language.

We went for the buffet tonight and it was fantastic! The selection was amazing, the food was delicious and the service was great. My husband remarked that this was the best buffet he ever had and he tried a bit of everything in the buffet. Vegetarian options: The buffet had a number of vegetarian options and they were all delicious.

We went for their brunch buffet and everything was so good! Super cute restaurant, loved their decor and the service was excellent. We will be back there for sure!

The appetizer yam fries were perfect. Thin cut but still tender and the aoli sauce was delicious. I ordered the veggie wrap with red pepper soup. The soup was delicious and the wrap was the best I have had. The vegan cheese was a delight and there was a great mix of vegetables in the wrap. The staff was attentive yet not intrusive. The chef came out to check on the food which was really nice. Great atmosphere. Looking forward to my next visit. Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free and Vegan options available

We took the whole family for the Saturday Night Buffet(for our very first visit, all the different dishes were amazing, Im not one for trying new things, the buffet allowed me to have just a small portion of several different dishes. I was overwhelmed with the flavor (good thing) Ill be honest ... the desert was my favorite. I had a piece of the best chocolate cake Ive ever had..... EVER. We plan to return and bring friends. Thank you to the staff who were so accommodating and kind. prompt service and wonderful atmosphere. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Ordered a beet and feta panini. Was told it could be made gluten free. It came as raw beets slapped into a gluten free bun. I was at least expecting it to be on gluten-free bread. The bun wasnt even toasted. No hummus, no sprouts. Disappointing Dietary restrictions: I dont think the chef understands how to change menu items from regular to gluten free.

My wife and I just did a course on how to cook Indian food. By far the best cooking class Ive ever attended. Sourav and his son did a great job of teaching us how to cook the food, adjusted on the fly to accommodate different wishes of the students, told all sorts of interesting stories and gave us more great hints than I could count. At every point, he was eager to answer questions and help us understand. And, just when it couldnt get any better, the time came to taste the food! It was absolutely delicious and there was SO MUCH OF IT! My wife and I both left with at least one or two more meals in takeaway boxes. We will absolutely be back. Thank you so much for a great evening and some outstanding new cooking ideas!

Me and my partner were here July 22, 2022. The staff was very nice and very polite. However we ordered some iced lattes $6 each and we could tell the syrup was store bought. My partner ordered a burger and complained that far too much sauce was added and the meat tasted bland. I ordered the daily special which was a pork panini with pickles, cheese and mustard. The taste of mustard overwhelmed the panini and the meat was also bland. The price we ended up paying felt very expensive for the experience we had. We used to go here lots before changes and thought we d give this place another try. However we were disappointed.

I was told to expect greatness; greatness was exceeded. The pasta was phenomenal, not to mention the general experience. Lots of decoration, nice open view of outside; I d certainly eat here again.

We ordered takeout from Rosewood, the food was delicious! One of the meals was missing a part, the restaurant was quick to offer a solution and remade the meal for us. Upon picking up the remade meal, the cook came out and apologized profusely. He added in an extra soup and cookie to make up for the inconvenience. Will definitely return! Great food and great customer service.

Update: The owner went above and beyond to rectify our negative experience. Truly wonderful experience being treated to an array of amazing dishes that more than made up for our previous experience. This owner clearly takes pride in his food and ensuring customers have the best experience possible. We will certainly be back and so happy to have this wonderful local business in our neighbourhood. Thank you for listening to and rectifying our concerns. Our first visit the food was good but we were overcharged by ten dollars on our bill. We wrote that off as new restaurant growing pains and gladly considered it a tip for supporting local. Our second visit consisted of six dollar four ounce curdled lattes, and cold food that was poor in taste and quality. We sent our food back only for them to admit to microwaving the exact same food and bringing it back to us. Though they were kind and apologetic the service and the food is certainly not worth the price, especially when this city has far better quality offerings. Times are very tough and going out is a treat. People are unwilling to spend money for food they could make far better at home. I take no pleasure in writing this review as the chef seems like a lovely person.

Just had lunch with my friend. The meal was very delicious. We both enjoyed it. Will definitely be back. Service was really nice. Very relaxing atmosphere love the radio playing.

We loved the atmosphere and food of the Heartwood Cafe that was originally in this building. Unfortunately the Rosewood Bistro has neither of these. The food is terrible. They have wood fired pizza ovens but we got something that resembled an overcooked microwave pizza. Rock hard crust and a soggy mess in the middle. When we mentioned this we were given a whole 10% off! Thanks but we wont be back again.Not recommended.

The food was amazing and the staff was friendly!

So the good bad and the ugly. Nice portion of cheese with the Naan no honey flavor and 3 of my carrots were black not just carmelized. Medium wings..tasty but dry inside no dip for the carrots. Cheesecake tasted old and was maybe 1/2 inch at widest part. Would not get again. Took pics put would not let me add on this page. Would try again.

Incredible Sunday Brunch! We contacted the restaurant earlier this week in preparation for take-out Mother s Day brunch. I was directed to the menu and assured that if I called once open on Sunday they could prepare our meal timely. They did not disappoint and the food was incredible! From eggs benny, meat lovers omelette and stuffed french toast, the whole family thoroughly enjoyed it! Ready 20 minutes after I phoned. Please consider supporting this great small diner during the impending Covid take-out only restrictions!

I eat at a lot of restaurants and the Rosewood Bistro is top notch! Please give this restaurant a chance, it s very cozy and the patio makes you feel like you re not in Medicine Hat! Food is tasty, portions are perfect, and the service is top notch. The owner always comes out to ask how your meal was and engage in some friendly conversation. Just try it, please?

Back in town for a week and some family suggest Sunday Bruch at Rosewood and I was up to see a new restaurant - I was really impressed by the well assembled eclectic interior; service was attentive and very helpful; and it is great to have an option for breeky that includes a couple small pancakes. I wish them the best!

Awesome meal. Korean beef with green onion pancakes. Service was fantastic. And she was sooo polite to the lady that came in ranting about the new rules. This is NOT businesses fault nor the people who work there. Be polite...be kind!

Simply amazing. Amazing staff, amazing food, great atmosphere. Jamie our server went above and beyond to accommodate our questions and needs. The owner/head chef came out and answered our questions and came out after to check on how everything was tasting. The food portions are great, picturesque plating, and with a taste so good you will want to eat till you hurt. I would highly recommend to anyone and will be sure to return.

My friend and I ordered the big breakfast and stuffed French toast. Everything was quite spectacular. The bacon was cooked exactly to my liking, the home fries were delicious and crispy, and the French toast was very tasty. The additional fresh blueberries and blackberry as garnish completed the presentation. The service was exceptional to boot. Best breakfast in Medicine Hat?
