Best sushi place in town. Great packaging, large portions, lovely owners, and some unique options you won’t get anywhere else like the Chilli Chicken Roll, a roll with spicy breaded chicken inside that should please both the people who like sushi and those hesitant about raw fish
I was only staying in town for one night, and was hoping for a sushi dinner. I found this place on maps, it was only a five or six minute drive for me. I ordered in advance and the lady was very kind on the phone. they are currently doing pick up/take out Service only. Their salmon is excellent. Rice almost perfect. The BC roll was a little too crispy for my liking but it still tasted delicious and I ate the whole thing. I really found a gem here! Highly recommend.
Generous/delicious portions. Seriously the size of the fish pieces were like double what I have seen at other restaurants. Would have been 5 stars but we were disappointed that the sushi and sashimi combo no longer comes with miso soup. Additionally, the prices posted by the restaurant do not have accurate prices. Overall, I would absolutely recommend a visit, but the restaurant should update their google maps menu!
I would give this place a 5 star rating....however it only gets a 2. Why you ask? Their opening hours are an absolute joke. One weekend they are closed...the next they are open. Unfortunately we are an hour out of town and are not able to see the note stuck on the front door. The phone message says they are closed today..so ok we make alternative arrangements. This is not a one off experience..this happens on a regular basis. Too bad we can't count on them to leave more detailed messages. Very very frustrating. Now their food..when they are open, is absolutley the best sushi in Med Hat. Great portions and well presented and packaged. Again too bad for the irregular hours.
We order sushi takeout from here every time we are in the Hat and are so pleased with the portions we have a difficult time ordering anywhere else. It's all about the fish for us and their sushi servings are huge. Wish we could give it 6 stars. Has all your basic sushi, place is unassuming and yes call ahead for hours so you're not disappointed!
First time here and I've got to say it's the best sushi I've ever had!! Highly recommended, the service is awesome as well, quick, friendly and awesome quality all around!! Price is very reasonable, best price in town. Best sushi in Medicine Hat. Can't wait to come back!!
The first and best sushi restraunt in Medicine Hat. I've been eating here since it first opened and it has always been consistently exceptional. With large filling portions (no need for skimpy thin cuts like at the "all you can eat restaurants", when the servings here are double the size for a good price and way better quality), large beautiful seafood (real crab meat! need I say more?), eye catching presentation, great pickled ginger, and well made rice (very important). I always feel satisfied, full and happy when I've finished eating at Sushi Miso. The best Dynamite Rolls I've ever had are buttery and euphoric, and are a must for every order. If you eat in, the green tea is always hot and flowing. I cannot say enough good things about their food. The only improvements that could be made are the limited hours (opens at 3pm so no lunch, and closed on Mondays), and better ways to order (such as in-store delivery, or Skip the Dishes), because the phone only takes 1 call at a time with no holds so you have to keep on calling if it is busy (Please Take My Money Sushi Miso!!!). However, it is worth the wait. I have traveled to Japan, and this Sushi is the closest I've tasted to the real experience. For Medicine Hat that is amazing, which in my opinion makes this the best food in the city. So please stay open forever! :) P. S. Also the only place to get good Sunimono, every other sushi place in the city either doesn't offer it or it is inedible.
Went there on Saturate for a quick lunch before an event. The exterior and interior is a little dated, but don't let that stop you. The lady that welcomed us super friendly and welcoming. Their portions are large, and delicious! I shared the Love Dish with a friend and it more than enough for us. We were surprised to find amazing sushi in Medicine Hat. I will visit again

Sushi Miso is the best sushi restaurant I have ever eaten at. I was born and raised in Medicine Hat and have since moved to the west coast and still crave their spicy salmon roll and the unagi roll from them all the time. I have not found anything in the same price range with the quality they serve to be comparable. Will be back on my next visit home.
Once you have enjoyed sushi here, it will be hard to go anywhere else.
Always good food and friendly service. Take out only right now which is just fine by us! Happy to have a wonderful local sushi place with great vegetarian options. Tempura yam roll is a definite fave!

Everything is fresh like they just caught it and the service was the best ive ever had in town prices are reasonable and they have dishes that dont have fish in them like the tempora yams are to die for. Just go and enjoy everything they have to offer

Rate is a 0 star- I just wanted my review to be seen. Food is great, however whenever I go in I feel the person at the till is hostile and unwelcoming, I dont want to eat there again because of the hostile vibe I get from the people working there. They arent directly rude, but they seem privy and uncareing- When I go to a restaurant I want to feel welcomed and comfortable- not feel this standoffish feeling Ive been there twice, I smile and say thankyou, Im friendly, they should be friendly aswell If Im giving them my money for a meal.

Edit: my feelings on this place havent changed. Ive since moved to Lethbridge and am sooooo bummed it was at the start of the pandemic when I moved as this place was closed. Ive only been to Medicine Hat twice since then for appointments and its been closed each time. Really sad since Ive never had better sushi anywhere. They put raw tuna on the inside of their rainbow roll instead of imitation crab (which is what most places add) and their smoked salmon is seriously the best. Ive never had it near as good anywhere else. Their Philadelphia roll (smoked salmon and cream cheese) is really really good. Theres only one place in Lethbridge that even comes close to this place but this one is still the best. I would deliberately plan a trip to Medicine Hat specifically for this place if I could (just waiting for this pandemic to be done). I HIGHLY recommend this place. The owner even knows my name and greets me by it whenever Ive come in to pick up food. Awesome food and owners. I hope everyone supports local and purchases their amazing sushi especially during this pandemic. Youre so lucky if you live in Medicine Hat! Old review: Love it!! Amazing sushi and quick/very good service. My favorite is the rainbow roll. Ive tried it at various other sushi restaurants and this is by far my favorite rainbow roll!! I also loved the smoked salmon sushi. They always give nice big pieces on the rice. The dumplings, yakitori, and deep fried squid is also amazing. Definitely recommend eating here 100%!!

What a great experience. The service was amazing. The food was as good or better than any sushi Ive had in the prairies. It is a modest restaurant with incredibly fresh sushi, excellent rice and great portions.
Cross country road trip, stopped in because of the reviews... some of the best sushi I ve had! The wasabi and ginger were even top notch. You have to go if you love sushi.
Best sushi in town. Dont like raw? Try their Chili Chicken Roll. The owners are so nice and helpful. One thing to note: nice lady who runs the till, serves, and answers the phones has an accent, so pay extra attention when ordering over the phone.

Found this little place as we were looking for something not too heavy to eat. The exterior is very unassuming but dont let that fool you. The interior is quite pleasant with a good ambiance. The service was prompt, friendly, and very welcoming. The menu was the right size. This is very much a sushi restaurant, which is great. The pricing is pretty good for Alberta Sushi. We shared the Love Dinner and Edamame. The pieces of seafood we got were a very good size and very fresh tasting. The rolls were quite tasty, and the wasabi has got the perfect amount of bite. Even the ginger was great. Plus, unlimited Japanese tea for 1$/person. We were thrilled with this place and next time we are in Medicine Hat, we will absolutely come back. My only disappointment is that this place is not in Edmonton, where I live.
Clean, ok service, can be slow to take your order when it is not busy. NOT great quality or quantity. Prices too high for what you get. Too salty..

The place is small but comfortable. The owner looks like a nice lady. She was very polite and friendly. The food was delicious, and the portions were big. Very nice place for anyone looking for a sushi restaurant.
The food is amazing and Mandy (only waitress and owner) is fantastic. We brought our kids (ages 1.5 and 6) and she put their drinks into sippy cups and gave us a fork and knife to cut up our youngests food without us having to ask.

The menu is good, and they have many choices for sushi. Its a small, family run business which lets you get to know the owner and staff. Sometimes the food portions seem small in comparison to other family sushi places in town. All in all, great place to eat!

Ive been going to this restaurant for years, and it is hands down the best sushi in Medicine Hat. It has the best quality of rice, large portions, and tastes great! After living in Japan for a few years I can say that this place is the closest you will come to the real thing in, Medicine Hat anyway!

We stopped in after reading reviews here. We were just passing through Medicine Hat for the night. Amazing sushi. You. Can tell its fresh. Weve eaten sushi pretty much all across Canada and this is one of the best places weve been to. Highly recommended!

This may be my favourite sushi restaurant in the world. And I really love sushi. This teeny little unassuming location puts out some amazing items and all with just a little extra - real crab in the crab roll (not sirimi), extra roe in the hand rolls, unique rolls like yam and asparagus. I could go on. The value is incredible for what you get. A must for sushi fans!!
Fast, friendly service. Very large nigiri for price, and tasted quite fresh. Pleasantly surprised to find such a great sushi place in a smaller city in Alberta. Definitely going back next time Im in Medicine Hat.

I really liked this place. I was visiting from out of town, and thought Id check it out. The place is a blast from the past! The worker said the place had been in business more than fourteen years. I ordered sushi for takeout and it was prepared skillfully and quickly with generous portions. I will try to come back here next time Im in town!

As a chef I am highly critical of where I eat. I make good sushi, but I would eat here anytime. The spicy tuna roll is phenomenal. The nigiri portions are huge compared to other restaurants. The only downside is the hours. But, I have heard rumor that the executive sushi chef/owner is fighting and winning against cancer. But it is a rumor and I am more than willing to wait till they are open.
