The food was insanely good, the people working were so nice. I recommend the Ramen with fried chicken it is so good. In my opinion it is the best restaurant in Canada. Every time I even think of it i just go into a food coma . It is just the best you have to try it

The restaurant was empty at 8:30 on a Sat night and they wouldn t let us eat in when we arrived. Just wanted to eat a few rolls quick with our kid. Customer service level would never survive in a bigger market.

If I could only choose one place to crush my cravings for great Japanese food after staying all over Japan for months, it would be here. The Hakata Tonkatsu ramen is AWESOME, like I stepped off a plane right back in Fukuoka, and it is hot and FRESH. The salmon is very high quality and tastes better than most places Ive been, and the Yam tempura slices are BIG and offer great value for your money. With a few Japanese beers on hand and a compact but cozy atmosphere, its easily had the best Izakaya vibes Ive found anywhere in Southern Alberta. My only complaint is that I cant rate it higher on Google, if you like great Ramen and quality sushi, youve gotta eat here

The best restaurant in Medicine Hat, hands down. Small, locally owned spot. As I told my wife, this is the only restaurant where Im willing to sit next to front door as long as I can get in to eat. Any choice of Ramen for the win.

Best Japanese food in 200km radius.

First time it was happened to us and I can t even imagine that this service experience was very terrible! From the beginning the waitress was rude, she don t know how to say please! Food was ok! I can t believe that the waitress are asking for the tip after i pay my Bill. It was so rude. Why she need to ask for the tip? That is up to the customers if they want or not? Its not a mandatory. I don t believe to her that the owner is asking for the tip? The owner needs to thank if there s someone who comes and purchase from the restaurant. The waitress is insisting my god! I have cash put on the table before i left that embarrassing experience i change my mind. I been working in the hospitality for more than 15years but i never been trained my staff to do the same thing. Tips is the reflection of their service. Tips is only an extra. I will never come back again.

Anyone not giving this place 5 stars is insane. The food is probably the best Ive ever had in 20 years of living in canada. Its melt in your mouth sushi can not give enough stars. Ive eaten sushi in the best restaurants in western Canada from thunderbay to Vancouver and none have ever come close to this location. The chef is a master of his craft along with his wife who can take full orders without writing anything down. Wish I lived in medicine hat just so I could eat here on a regular basis. If you like sushi you need to eat here, you wont be disappointed. Please medicine hat treat these people like family, you wont get better sushi in your lifetime. Should be $50 per roll its that good.

Everyone enjoyed their meals, was a present experience

I m a seniors and from time to time I treat myself with a meal out. About a week ago I went here which I often do and my bill for take out came to $14.12. I gave the young man working there a $20 bill and he said loudly how much change or is it a tip. I was embarrassed and then asked or $2 back. I ve always tipped 10% and this was disrespectful and embarrassing. I ll hesitate to go back in there the foods ok though

I got the Lion King Roll and the mango asparagus roll. The Lion King Roll is the best sushi roll Ive ever had, and Ive ate a lot of sushi in my life.

This is an excellent restaurant. Fantastic ramen and homemade gyoza. I recommend ordering the Lion King roll, it is one of the best sushi rolls Ive ever had. We are very lucky to have a chef like this in Medicine Hat. Everything is made by him. Very friendly service. I love the size - only four tables!!! Vegetarian options: Many vegetarian sushi options! Parking: Park right in front or on the street! Kid-friendliness: Our kids loved the bento box lunch specials: chicken, rice, shrimp tempura, crab tempura, salad, California roll.

Our friend who lives in Medicine Hat said You HAVE to come here and try this sushi!!Absolute best sushi I ve had in a very long time. Tiny restaurant with wonderful staff and service!! Everything we had was killer. When to eat in but didnt know it only had 10 seats. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. Switched to take out. Spend about $125 got a little bit of everything. Definitely going back.

Went here with my fiance for a date night. This is the best Japanese restaurant I have ever been to!! Would give 10 starts if I could. Id even say the best Japanese restaurant in Alberta, the owners were super sweet and you can tell they really care about the quality of their food and service. It was unbelievably good. I love Japanese food, and have eaten at a few other restaurants, but this was by far the best I have had. Worth the cost and the wait. The staff was polite and friendly, and the atmosphere is cozy. I highly recommend.

Also if you like bacon, my boys & I recommend the spicy bacon rolls. Its an unexpected & tasty twist on traditional sushi. But truly I have loved everything Ive tried here!

Had a take out order of the Japanese fried chicken ramen and gyoza. It was so amazing! The ramen was so flavourful, and the gyozas were the best.

Best ramen I ve had in Alberta!

Incredibly delicious food at a very low price. Today Feb 14, 2023 I went there and tried seafood ramen and a Maki salmon roll. The soup was very tasty with plenty of seafood. They take the time to prepare your food and make it great. Not to mention their friendly service! Too bad I dont live in Medicine Hat or Id be there all the time.

My boyfriend and I cant stop talking about how delicious this place is. We are planning to go back tomorrow to try more! The sushi rolls were the perfect size, perfect consistency, and oh so tasty. The staff is super friendly just smiling the entire time. The whole dinner probably took about half an hour so youre not going to be waiting for too long at all. I highly highly recommend! If I could give more than 5 stars I would in a heartbeat. P.s. the 23 special rolls are to die for!!

Great food and service!

Great place to eat decent quality sushi in Medicine Hat. Family owned, and it shows that the owner loves his work. The food tasted great, although some of sashimi was not fully thawed out. The only downside is that the place is small so you may not be able to find a seat at certain times, or for larger groups.

I recently visited Takumu restaurant and was blown away. The menu featured a variety of different ramen bowls, each with its own unique combination of broth, noodles, and toppings. I opted for the truffel ramen, and it did not disappoint. The broth was rich and flavorful, with just the right amount of spice. The noodles were perfectly cooked and had a nice chew to them. And the toppings - including tender slices of pork, were fresh and delicious. The only downside is the egg was overcooked. Yolk was not runny. However the broth was so good it didnt matter. On par with some ramen place i had in japan

Passed by Medicine Hat, wanted to get a Chirashi Don because it s perfect for lunch when weather is getting warm. It came with a miso soup; soup was deliciously rich in flavour. You can tell a lot about a Japanese restaurant from its miso soup. The portion and the amount of different fish in the bowl are enough to put a lot of Japanese restaurants in big cities to shame for the same price ($23). The rice is well cooked and seasoned. Chirashi Don rice is tricky, but the chef managed to balance the vinegar level pretty well. Will come back if passing by Swift Current again.

They were closed yesterday, so I tried another place in town. It was bad, but thankfully I tried this place today for lunch and it was awesome and restored my faith in Medicine Hat sushi. I ordered it again for supper tonight and all 4 different kinds I tried were awesome. My new go to sushi when visiting The Hat. Keep up the great work! PS: the couple running the place are super nice too!

The food is not bad but it is a very bad service. I dont recommend it at all. They make mistakes with orders and are not responsible. When I asked them to fix the error, they made me wait another 30 minutes for 2 handroll and 1 roll.

Found a hidden gem for sushi (nigiri) lovers. Do yourself a favor and order a 15 piece chef selection set. Culinary skills on cutting fish slice is superior. Fresh ingredients, nice vinegary favor rice. Complement wasabi with real Japanese horseradish. This is not an ordinary sushi that you found in buffet. The store is small and slow pace. Enjoyed a late supper here. We had a few maki rolls and nigiri pieces along with some miso soup. We were especially impressed by the alberta beef aburi nigiri and the miso soup. My partner and I both agreed it was the best miso soup weve ever had! Were looking forward to coming back to try more nigiri as well as their incredible looking ramen .

Picked up sushi today. It was gross. Ive had better sushi at Edo. My God. I was excited to try and got it home ..it looked like it was made by a toddler and Soggy couldnt even eat it. Very disappointed

Food arrived in a timely manner, had a few different rolls, some yam tempura, and bulgogi. Everything tasted fresh, flavor was on point. Will definitely will going back. Well worth the price. Rice was not clumpy or sticky which is usually the case locally.

Best Restaurant In Medicine Hat!

Our new favourite sushi spot! We have probably ordered/dined in at Takumi over 10 times now, and every single time we are so happy with it. We ordered it for a group dinner last week and every person was texted us the following week double checking where to order from. Try it once and you will be converted forever. Quality ingredients and really kind staff.

A hidden gem. With seating for 10, takeout orders, and a modest kitchen, Chef is able to create culinary masterpieces this city has long been waiting for. The Ramen is perfect in every way. The ultimate comfort food. I had the feature Ramen with duck and black truffles, the duck melted in my mouth. The truffles were perfectly balanced by the broth. I could go on and on. This is my new favourite place to eat, it should be yours too.

Im in awe that Medicine Hat have Takumi! Its a small restaurant that can only seat 10 people (the only cook is the owner thats why they can only serve so much). Me and my boyfriend waited sometime because its very busy but we dont mind! We noticed they have lots of take out order. The food is sooooo good! Very good Ramen, rolls, gyoza and takoyaki!!! (all that we ordered). The owners are so kind and sweet too! Will definitely come back! Highly recommended!

I ordered a vegetarian roll&Yam roll, and the sushi was amazing. It had vegetarian options and was delicious . My husband ordered the Mara Ramen recommended by a friend and was very satisfied. Unfortunately my experience in this place was bad. I drove long way from another city and I was so hungry, when I ordered ramen and sat to wait for my order, chef came to me and said that I can t eat inside, because I made order near the casier . I told him that I didn t know about this rule, but still he was rude and continued to say something, like I can t share my ramen with my husband (ramen was really big and I couldn t finish it by myself ). He said if my husband wants to sit here with me, he must to order something, but he wasn t hungry. Ramen was not bad, but he spoiled my mood with his face and words. Of course I never will come back to this place, because they don t know how to talk with customers, better to find place with polite service. I spent 20$ for ramen in that place, paid for service but got bad mood and experience in the end

Awesome presentation and amazing taste. The love put into the preparation of the food is evident. Consistently impressed by the quality of the Japanese cuisine in Medicine Hat, and this might be one of the best in the area. If you have a craving for sushi, ramen, poke, Bento or anything else Japanese (or regionally related); you gotta check this place out. (The salad looked nicer than it does in the image, I couldnt help but take a bite before I took a picture haha.)

I would give 0 stars if I could. Refused to serve a family with a toddler. We waited at the door till 5 mins after the opening time before they finally opened the door and then told us they would not serve us as we had a toddler and they have no high chair. I said they used to have one and they said now it is broken. So I said that s okay he can sit on my lap. They said no all the larger tables have reservations(there was not one person in the restaurant). I said that s okay we can push the 2 smaller ones together and they still refused to serve us. It was just them making up one excuse after the other till we finally conceded and just left. It s too bad because I ve enjoyed their food in the past but the service has always been terrible. Kid-friendliness: Obviously not kid friendly as they refused to serve my son

We were excited to eat outside! And Ramen could be the best for the season. We came in at 820pm ( Takumi close at 9pm). We were told that they would not accommodate us ( dining) coz they will close at 9pm! I do understand that cleaning / and preparing for closing will take time but should just put 8pm close for dining!!! Just disappointed and even told them that we will leave at exactly 9pm . I think 40mins before closing would be enough to give customer service.

It takes a lot to get 5 stars from me. Takumi is well deserving of it though. Note: This is not a cheap, all-you-can-eat sushi place, this is somewhere you go if quality sushi is on your mind. Now, whenever a special occasion comes up, Takumi is at the top of the go-to list! The wonderful staff here will always make you feel welcome. If you like sushi or ramen I would highly recommend trying a dish or two.

The food is absolutely amazing and they are so friendly

Due to a great mixup earlier in the week, I finally had a chance to stop in. The advertised karaage ramen, (Japanese Fried Chicken Ramen) Being new to Ramen I was looking forward to this. I was totally blown away. One of the best meals I have ever eaten. When you go to restaurants they have Salt and pepper or hot sauce ketchup on the table, this place does not and now I know why. Was seasoned perfectly. Just the right spice. I just recently ventured to Japanese food, real Japanese not Edo Japan. My next meal is gonna be chefs choice. Thats how impressed I was.

The ramen is unreal

Ive never tasted a more amazing flavour combination than the phila bacon roll that they offer, I recommend this restaurant to anybody that wants sushi in the Medicine Hat area. They offer soups, rolls, tempura, Gyoza, Nigiri, Aburi style Nigiri, combos, rice bowls, ramen, and even party trays! The owners seem to be a great couple that really care for their small business. They do take-out during Covid and when they were open, were very adamant about following AHS regulations in regards to taking down a name and contact number for anyone dining in. Masking until youre sitting and eating is recommended. They have touch free payment and hand sanitizer is present at the entrance and by the cash.

I am addicted to this place. They have the best food and the staff is so friendly. I would recommend it to anyone.

Great food, we have been coming here almost every week since we first discovered the place back in Jan of 2020. Everyone is friendly, and the food is just amazing!

We almost walked out of this place as they had no tables but oh boy are we glad that we stayed. BEST JAPANESE FOOD EVER! Amazing quality and amazing flavours! Saigon roll is the best Maki roll in the whole wide world. And that Ramen,.so good! Do yourself a favor and go here! We ordered seaweed salad, this seemed pre-packaged as the flavour seemed familiar at another sushi place that we frequent.

We stopped here on the way to Calgary. The sushi was excellent and the service was so friendly. The yam roll (one of my personal favourites) was the best Ive ever had. The Hura roll was also amazing, and something Ive never seen before. Great food and great prices, Ill definitely come by again anytime Im in Medicine Hat.

Delicious Japanese cuisine !

To put simply, the best Japanese in town and one of the best restaurants period.

Read alot of great things so my son and I were excited to try. Maybe it was just an off night or care not put in because it was delivery. But really not impressed. Both sushi rolls were falling apart and rice scrapping off before we started, ramen was not appealing, neither of us ate it and we normally love ramen. Both of us pretty unsatisfied. Maybe in the future might give another try but unlikely.

This place was really good. The sushi was very fresh and perfect ratios of rice and fish. They make their own dumplings! I request a pan fried option for the dumplings because pan fried is better than deep fried imo. Rice a bit too sweet for me, but I suspect it was just accidental overseasoning. Despite my little gripes, this is a high quality place. I would recommend this to anyone willing to pay a fair price for top quality japanese cuisine.

Excellent authentic Japanese dine-in and the takeout. The place is very small and simple looking but dont let that stop you. The food is absolutely amazing. The ramen is to kill for.

Best sushi I have had in over 10 years. The food is fresh, environment and food handling are above par, there is extremely flavorful dishes that are priced very reasonably, and a very talented chef who has worked in Tokyo and beyond. We are very lucky to have this caliber of food available to us in our small city. Thank you chef Se Ho! If you are a sushi connoisseur I highly recommend you switch your favourite Sushi place to Takumi. I did without question.

Had a great meal with my family , the spicy bulgogi rice bowl ,tantanmen Ramen , Oyako Don , and the chicken Chashu Ramen were all fantastic. Great friendly staff as well , I will eat there again for sure.

Wow! It was all really fresh and everything was awesome! We tried two new dishes, crunchy crab roll and the Godzilla roll. Both were great! Highly recommend.

I just love the food here!!! I went here because I have troubles eating because I am pregnant and they didn t disappoint. Their ramen is hot and very delicious! I also tried their takoyaki and it was perfect! The chef and all the staff are very friendly and accommodating! Kudos!!!!

Traveling from Victoria to Kingston and this is by far the best meal weve had since leaving Victoria. Had the takoyaki, gyoza, and ramen and all were exceptional. Friendly service and super clean.

Really nice little place. The food is just awesome. I tried one of the Ramen, some rolls, and sushi; really good quality and taste. One thing I really like about this place is they have yellow tail sushi/sashimi, one of my favorite, something other Japanese place in Medicine Hat doesnt have. One downside is the place is really small, probably a good idea to order take out if the place is busy.

Remarkable hidden gem here in Medicine Hat, the attention to detail and execution of the Ramens both my wife and I had were flawless. Do yourself a favor and support this great local small restaurant which is far superior to a chain or franchise offering Japanese fair. In closing, I would like to reiterate the new found passion I have for the broth, deep bold flavors loaded with a variery of Umami notes.
