Casa Amigos Cantina in Medicine Hat

The flautas are so yummy. The salad was super good, so good I stole my daughters leftover salad to add to my flautas. And the flan omg the flan was gingerbread flan and my daughter who hates everything (except she also loved the salted chicken wings here, cooked perfect she says) went nuts on my dessert because of how delicious it was. Top notch Mexican food. I really wish I d had the stomach room to try more of their dishes. I hope to get back here again if I make back to Medicine Hat. If I was local I d be here indulging lots.

Best tacos and margaritas in thr city. Try the peach margarita. So good!!

Food left me feeling sick ,from pulled beef taco , salsa kinda sucked, pulled beef was not good , chairs were uncomfortable as all hell, service was minimal I had to wait 10mins or more for a refill on my drink

Good location in downtown Medicine Hat. Food was ok. I would have preferred melted cheese on my food rather than squirty cheese but that is my preference. Our server was excellent warm friendly and helpful.

The margaritas were good but the food and the atmosphere were horrible. Its like they didnt even try.

Very BLAND food, no flavor at all. I really dont get all of the good reviews praising the food, obviously these people have not had any good Mexican food before. I took my wife and son there one day for an early supper to try a new restaurant. We were the only people in there, the servers were very polite and the atmosphere was ok. Mexican food is our favorite and we were very disappointed in flavor and quality of the food. I had a chicken burrito, it was so bland no flavor at all. I could only see chicken in my burrito and nothing else really. My wife got some tacos and she didnt even come close to finishing, it just wasnt good. Im wondering if this restaurant knows what cilantro is or any other spices to put in their food. We got guacamole as a starter, got a ton of chips but very little guacamole the ratio is not ideal. Guacamole was okay but nothing you couldnt match for flavor when you buy it from a grocery store. Maybe I should send them my wifes guacamole recipe LOL. To sum this up, if you like Mexican food dont go here.

What a great space! You can check out a band, have some dinner and then hit the margaritas and the dance floor. Lots of room, very clean, good service and located downtown. All good stuff.

Food was ok. Nothing exciting. Very small potions. Big place. No one in there except a few regulars at the bar that seemed to intrigued by us walking in. Service was ok. She was polite but didn t bother checking in how the food was, or if we wanted anything else Thought we would give it a try. Probably wouldn t go again.

This place is a bit expensive for what you get, but the food is decent. There was a stage so I imagine they have live music and that would definitely improve the atmosphere Im sure. The central location is pretty convenient.

Always really good food and drinks, and they always take special care to accommodate dietary restrictions as best they can. It is now my family s favourite spot to eat in med hat.

Great place for great food! We went on Friday when the band was just setting up and doing their sound check. We had supper and a drink. Great service! Watch the Blue Jays play ball. Everyone was really friendly. Great place!

I ordered the Tijuana ceaser salad and had high expectations since the title recognized the birth place of the salad. When it arrived, it was very underwhelming and was most like washed iceberg lettuce with a light touch of a yogurt based sauce. Even the person with me mentioned it did not look very good.

Prices are good but the food is meh, lots of crossover taste from fish which was prepared at the same time.

I love going to Casa Amigos and making my way through the margarita menu but the other night we had to cancel our reservation. We ended up ordering in and the delivery driver accidentally left half our order at the restaurant; we called the restaurant right away and they had already arranged to get it sent. They also gave us something extra for it! The food was delicious and fresh and large portions. Elote and flautas are my fave! Its quickly become one of my favorite places in town. Oh, also, can you please sell your casa spice mix!?

Very tasty. Theres a nice patio with partial sun. So not crazy hot and very comfortable especially with a Frday $5 beer special! The tacos are excellent. I recommend the steak taco. The cantina bowl is also really satisfying. I wish there were jalapeños on the side to up the spice level to whatever you want. All in all a great spot and tons of seating and street parking.

Food is flavourless and dry as hell. Ginger ale was flat/seamed watered down and I m pretty sure they hate seasonings of any kind. What food I was able to choke down is now not sitting well with my stomach as I sit to write this review from the toilet. I m not sure how this place got any good reviews at all. Side note: Was kind of weird to hear heavy metal playing at a Mexican restaurant but not a big deal I guess. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

The Street corn is fantastic!! The nachos were so good, and the El carbon taco was also really good! Nice selection of import, domestic, and local craft beer. Decent tequila menu, with great service and atmosphere! Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly. Pet friendly patio.

I had a Mexican friend years ago who, made his growing up with food for our friend group. This was the closest Ive tasted since. If you reading this then yes, you should eat here. Very yummy!

This place is made for Mexican food lovers. We had tacos, enchiladas, and a tostada plus Margaritas. Could have been spicier but obviously they have to cater to everyone. The hot sauce they provided was good too.

I enjoyed the food and margaritas but our server was strangely rude / seemed bothered to have to serve us food and drinks...

Very little food for high prices, small plates with no sides included. I was none to impressed.

I like this place for the music, fun decor & wide open areas. It is a fun venue for watching live music. If its busy, good luck getting served. Anytime I did get served, the wait staff were pleasantly friendly. I found the Margaritas to be small, bitter & lacked the real lime taste. Drinks are pricey & food is also overpriced for what you get. The bartenders are always quick & can recommend some interesting local brews to try out. I mostly go to have fun dancing & watch live bands I will go back for sure, because its a fun & creative place in downtown Medicine Hat.

Elote is a must. Such a fun atmosphere with delicious food and friendly staff. A great place for date night or going out with your friends. I really appreciate the non-alcoholic drink choices as well.

This is the second time we visited after driving down from Edmonton. Good selection of Mexican food and local craft beer. We happened to arrive during a live band this time. Both times the atmosphere was upbeat and lively. Lots of room with a huge area in the front room for those wanting a quieter meal.

The quesadilla was amazing, love the guacamole too. Definitely recommend the pineapple drink. Fast friendly service.

Five of us went for dinner and catch up on our lives. Our perfect table was reserved for us, the server was upbeat, professional and very accommodating. The atmosphere made me feel like I was at a unique cucina in the States. The food was varied and good. The Virgin margaritas were too sour, perhaps the Cadillac would be better. Look forward to returning in the summer.

At this point its not very fair to leave a low or high review of this place. They are BRAND NEW and there are mannny kinks that need to be worked out. My enjoyments: The atmosphere is cool A place to have awesome live music The food was delicious The drinks we incredible, margaritas are always delicious in my opinion. My disappointments: It became apparent that its set up as a please seat yourself, but I would have never known by how its set up at the front.. maybe a sign would help. Because of the seat yourself system and the size of this establishment, people siting down at tables are getting missed/some tables are getting served before you. Service was a touch slow.. which is very very understandable, if it were fast at this point things like the food and drinks would probably not be as good as they are. Conclusion, dont count this one out Hatters. This is going to be an awesome place to get some incredible eats and drinks with friends downtown. And I cant wait to go back in a couple weeks to see how everything is working!

There s a new mexi place in town and it s shaping up to be THE spot to hang out. Only a week and a bit old but smooth customer service already. I came in off the street not knowing what to expect. I was happy to see televisions up on the wall with both sets of playoff games showing. Sat down, was greeted quickly with a menu and my drink order was taken: yes, Pepsi is okay, I have no choice! . The menu was fairly packed with food selection on one side and a plethora of drink options on the other. I hesitated when I saw the $12 chips and guacamole as typically you pay too much and are never happy but that wasn t the case at Casa Amigos! I felt like I was actually at my friend s place and being served homemade guacamole with NO cilantro! Praise baby Jesus! The chips and guac filled me up quite well and I hung around to watch the games. As soon as my drink dipped low enough, the very nice bartender popped over and offered to top it up. I watched several different demographics of customers pop in and out during my stay, letting me know that this place will only get better with time and will probably become my new favourite spot in Medicine Hat. Their menu is growing and I m sure they ll be open to suggestions as they develop unique dishes. Highly recommended!

Friendly staff, awesome vibe. Their nachos are now hands down my favourite in the city, and I also love the mango salsa (good if you have a sweet tooth). The margaritas look absolutely amazing and theyll probably be my first stop as soon as I can drink alcahol again, for now Im living vicariously through my friends and family lol.

The Barbacoa is the best The enchiladas look delicious.

Their fish tacos are sooooo good. The pineapple habanero salsa is very tasty. When you get the tacos you think they are kinda small but man are they filling. Super friendly staff. Lots of seating, indoor and outdoor. Vegetarian options: The veggie taco is also tasty. Kid-friendliness: Lots of families eat here.

Horrible service. Waited 40 minutes for drinks and an hour and a half for our food.

The sad part was it was too hot to enjoy the evening fully.

Absolutely incredible food and service! Right now, its my favourite place in Medicine Hat. The city has been in a rut for local restaurants, but the food and atmosphere here absolutely makes up for it. Great liquor, authentic food, and an atmosphere to suite the cuisine. I guarantee Ill be back! Parking: It is a downtown location without dedicated parking. Be prepared to walk, or be incredibly lucky with finding a spot. Wheelchair accessibility: The patio is level and allows for wheelchair access to a couple of the table. The indoor seating area is trickier. Disabled individuals should phone in a reservation beforehand.

Excellent margaritas, fresh delicious menu. Makes me want to go back to baja. I am working my way through the margarita menu, so far so good, haven t found a bad one yet. Love the smoky mezcalrita and the pineapple coconut.

iiiiiits interesting to say the least, but I NEVER say the least. What a fitting theme in Mexico Hat... such a common part of our community here in this part of Canada. The spanish food and the exciting environment and atmosphere that is provided here are always a welcome experience. A well executed idea.

So we went on what I can only describe as an off night for this group. From what I gathered, there was a 20 top inside, a server injured themselves and had to leave during the rush, and possibly some computer issues. Because of this confluence of events that Im sure dont normally happen here all at once, the food was slow. That being said though, the servers were incredible, hustled like you wouldnt believe, and did everything in their power to make sure we had a good meal. The bar worked super quickly given how busy they were, the drinks were delightful, the staff was SO nice, and when the food finally did arrive it was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant, especially if this is how they perform under pressure. We all have off nights, where if it can go bad it will, and I was so impressed with how this group handled themselves when it happened to them. The only criticism I have is not enough to remove a star, but I would like them to reconsider their policy of not allowing people to reserve for the patio. Unfortunately some people in my group last night deal with immune issues, and getting onto the patio was make or break in whether or not wed be able to go to this restaurant. Luckily we were able to snag a table out there, and had a great time because of it, but if the patio was full we might have had to leave. As the organizer it did cause me some stress, really wanting to come to this spot but not having it guaranteed that we could. The staff was lovely about my multiple phone calls though, and it all worked out great in the end! But just something to consider. Overall great food, great drinks, a great time and Ill definitely be back

I finally had a chance to go for lunch here and it wont be my last. The restaurant is so colourful and beautifully decorated. I had a margarita (well, two because they were very well made) and the Cantina bowl with beef barbacoa. The food was delicious, probably the best guacamole I have ever tried (granted I have not have been to Mexico.) The only issue, which is not their fault, is lack of parking for lunch but after 6pm it seems to be better.

Amazing service and amazing food here! Went here for the first time tonight and there was a slightly creepy guy next to us, which the staff immediately noticed and they removed him from the restaurant and gave us a free dessert to make sure we had an awesome experience. Will totally come back here for some more nachos and shrimp ceviche. 12/10 recommend! Dietary restrictions: Great if your allergic to nuts!

We had the Elote corn. Plentiful. A bit picante which my husband loved. I prefer a sweeter version. We also had the chicken quesadilla. I m not sure why this restaurant uses feta (Greek) cheese over cheese that are Mexican like coitja queso and or a fresco cheese. Perhaps they are not available in Canada. Other than that concern the meal was delicious. Now for the drinks: I am outraged at what they charge for a Cadillac margarita. And also the other tequila drinks. Is it an import thing because a pitcher of margaritas was reaching 57 Canadian dollars for a regular Margaret and 81 Canadian dollars for a Cadillac? Highway robbery?!! Yes. Great Instagram places for photos. Would we be back? No. Probably because we are visiting family there. And if it were offered as a restaurant to go to I would say no. Parking: Parking is easy. You may have to drive once around a small block and you will find parking easy enough. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy parking. They have a fully accessible wheelchair ramp.

Really good food. Solid prices and very tasty. Quick friendly service as well. Only downside is that my table was a little dirty and sticky when I arrived.
