Love every meal and drink at Aster!

First-timers -WOW!!! Our food was amazing!!! From hostess to waitress to Chef Evan (who actually came out to visit with us) -awesome service and an extremely pleasant experience!!!! We had Bulgogi and Coq au vin will definitely be back!!! ~~Karen & Mike~~

Amazing little place. Wish they were open for brunch everyday, because their breakfast is incredible. GET THE CRIPSY POTATOES IF NOTHING ELSE!

Phenomenal food and delicious drinks. The watermelon and tomato salad was delicious and the spin on a ceaser salad using kale was really good! The coq au vin was super moist and very well prepared. All of the staff we spoke to were very knowledgeable on the sourcing of the meats and seafood. This was an experience that my SO and I will remember! Kid-friendliness: Chicken strips, grilled cheese, and burger are all kid friendly options

Fantastic from start to finish. Loved the bartender choice beer and a shot, I ve never seen that on a menu before and I love being surprised. The smoked fish hush puppies were the best hush puppies I ve ever had. We got the duck and bulgogi for entrees. Duck was cooked perfectly and not gamey at all. Bulgogi was also great, so much depth of flavor. We chose to eat outside, I love having that option. This is our new date night spot and I will be recommending it to everyone I know.

Was there for brunch, it was a beautiful day so we ate outside. The food was great

The food was good but the service was less than ok. The major problem seems to be the ownership. We came with a big group for a business dinner but they were not accommodating. They made us sit at two tables because they were not allowed to combine tables even though the restaurant was half empty on a Wednesday night. They were extremely difficult when we gave the restaurant a lot of business, this is simply not how a business should operate and unfortunately this will lead them to lose business. I will give credit where it s due, I would say I enjoyed the Duck and Oysters. Btw, we did have a reservation which was extremely difficult to book. We were warned by a few people that the owner is extremely difficult but we still gave it a shot. A one star is a fair representation in my opinion as I am rating the experience which was extremely poor. Oh well, goodluck and hope you try to improve this for other guests!

A lovely gem in downtown Midland with some serious intention from the kitchen. My husband and I ordered muscles as an appetizer and the first taste was exquisite - I thought I was in Normandy, France. It was seriously top-notch. And the quality continued. My husband had the coq au vin and I had a risotto with wild mushrooms. Again, perfectly done. We finished with a petite dessert that complimented the meal. Highly recommended.

First time trying Aster and it did not disappoint. Had appetizers and dinner and then brunch and both were 10/10 delicious. Service is upscale dining and they know what they re doing. The drinks are delightful and whoever is doing their pastry is phenomenal. Will definitely be coming back as Midland is a frequent weekend getaway. Anna was our server and she was awesome!

Beautiful place downtown midland and the food speaks for itself. My whole family visits this restaurant whether it s for lobster sandwiches or simply a quick drink while being out and about. You should be proud of what you have. Thank you!

My new favorite Midland restaurant. It is exceedingly rare to get such a healthy meal out. Nothing fried, not laden in cheese , a proper portion for my wasteline, and it included a complex whole carb . I ate at 5:30. The lighting was too dark . Dietary restrictions: Appears to be Gf , df

I love coming here at least once a week. The bartender is leagues above others and the food is phenomenal. I highly recommend that if anyone was looking to take their partner anywhere for a date, this is the place. Fantastic atmosphere, fantastic service and the best food in the tri city area.

I came in today for brunch and the potato latkes were fantastic and the service from Rachel was just as great!! Will definitely be returning!

We came in for dinner tonight and everything was great! Our server Rachel gave great recommendations for dinner and dessert. She was extremely attentive and made sure we had an amazing evening.

I had Rachel as my waitress and she was absolutely wonderful. Very knowledgeable about the menu as well as personable and funny! Went for burgatory this past Thursday and will definitely be returning! Overall a very great experience and delicious food.

Another fantastic night at Aster, accommodating a party of 10 on a very snowy Friday night. If you are someone who appreciates a place that knows how to perfectly crisp the skin on a super fresh salmon filet, craft unique cocktails with all house made ingredients, and provide knowledgable and very professional service from a superb staff, this is where you go in Midland... No further questions about that. Thanks Evan and crew for another great meal and overall experience.

Our party of three went for the burger special. The burgers and fries were great, but the service was even better. Our server, Sarah, went above and beyond for every aspect of the meal, but was also gracious enough to give a lot of credit to the bartender and the hostess. Probably would have been back regardless, but that service really sealed the deal.

Amazing food, extremely friendly and welcoming staff, and great ambiance. Before coming in we weren t sure if it would be kid-friendly but decided to chance it with our three year old and were very pleasantly surprised. They not only had high chairs but also brought out a sippy cup (I also noticed they had plenty of sound absorbing panels so kids wouldn t interfere with any date nights taking place at nearby tables). We will absolutely be coming back the next time we re in Midland. Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly. High chairs, sippy cups, and even small toilet seats in the bathrooms.

We had a delicious meal there . . coc au vin w/mushrooms and salmon w/black eyed peas. But you cannot put hot food on a cold plate and expect it to stay hot. No hot tea? No rolls w/meal? Please add some portable desserts to the menu. Our service was great! We will go back.

Another FANTASTIC dinner! The terrific food was only made better by the wonderful staff.

A friend and I were very excited to try this restaurant. We were sat around 6:15, ordered appetizers and then our meal. After about an hour of waiting for our meal we were informed that the meals we ordered weren t available. We then reordered at the same time as a biggger party that just sat down. That table was served first AND received the food I originally wanted. We weren t served our food until it was almost 9pm, which was the closing time. My friends very expensive meal was only a couple bites. So after we both waited a total of almost 3 hours and both paid upwards of $100 each we had to get fast food because we were starving. Loved the atmosphere but very disappointed.

Our family has eaten here a few times and those experiences were quite nice. We very much wanted to support this restaurant. On Facebook, my husband and I attempted multiple times to reach out to them for some questions we had. Despite them being very active online (both FB and Instagram) and we could see our messages were viewed, they ignored our questions. We tried time and time again. We were not rude, the questions were not strange or weird, yet we were ignored. So we posted about our experiences online (FB) and the restaurant has since blocked us. This is SO WEIRD. So basically despite being active online, they cannot respond to online messages, and then when they receive a negative/challenging review, they block the person so the review doesnt show. WTH?!?! Now I wonder since it has happened to us, how many other times it has happened to other people but you would never know it because they block the reviewer so the review it doesnt show up?! They could have simply responded to our questions. Our questions had to do along the lines of do you have specials? or is the online menu current? or are you still offering your duck pate? (which was my absolute favorite). Instead, they ignored our messages. So our reviews simply said things like cant be bothered to respond to questions despite being actively online. I honestly dont know what their problem is. Maybe they are very insecure? They are not honest, that much is for sure. Businesses who block people so that their reviews dont show up are not very cool. Support businesses who are willing to hear challenging comments and who want their customers to be happy, not businesses who only want praise and to be lauded, yet arent willing to rise up to be better when a customer makes a perfectly fair critique.

The menu is absolutely garbage. Its a hipster woke restaurant. If you want good food downtown, go to Mollasas or gratzi. Service was also less than impressive. Didnt even bother telling us about the specials or desserts (not on menu only word of mouth) until after we were done. While everyone is eating ramen that actually might have been decent, we were eating a burger that was so pink it was mooing

Very happy we stopped in. Amazing food and atmosphere. We had a great server (thank you Casey) and were able to meet the chef/owner Evan who very accommodating and passionate about his restaurant! Hopefully we ll be back soon!

Fine dining in the heart of Midlands downtown. 10s across the board for food, service, and atmosphere. Locally sourced, seasonal farm to table menu. Chefs creations always leave the patron satisfied. Possibly the best restaurant in town.

Had what was advertised as lobster rolls. What an absolute dissapointment. Never have I had Lobster served on cheap sliced store bought bread , folded in half and toasted . Worst meal ever. Not only was that horrible , the price was astounding. 3 lobster rolls and 2 cokes cost 116.00. This restaurant wont last a year. Very limited menu as well. The best part of this plain looking restaurant was the service. I would highly recommend McDonalds over this place.

I love this farm to market restaurant and will certainly be back. One of the items they are known for is their hamburger, made of quality local beef. It was two relatively pudgy patties stacked on a nice bun. IMO it was unnecessarily messy as I would have preferred one patty. Our server was pleasant but not supper available as I didnt get catsup for my fries, and she did not come around for me to ask. The burger comes with unwanted fries, but they would not allow a substitute (I am not a French fry person). At the prices they charge, a bit more customer focus was expected.

Food was not as described, tried to eat on healthier side was disappointed as I watch the large hamburger and a plate of whitefish hushpuppies be delivered to the next table. Skimpy serving.

This is easily my favorite restaurant for dinner when I m visiting Midland. The food is unique and delicious. The beef tartare is the best tasting tartare I ve ever had. The duck confit pasta melted in your mouth. And the drinks are excellent. I ve had great conversation with the bartender both times I ve visited.

This restaurant has become my favorite place to go. The owner is always friendly and involved, the food is gourmet but will fill you up, and the bar is incredible. The hush puppies and sunchoke are always a must, and if youre looking for authentic and delicious I highly recommend the Wednesday night ramen. Ive been here more often than most spots near main, and it never gets old. All and all, if you want a delicious meal and a great spot to relax with a small group, this is it. Vegetarian options: Though many dishes include meat, there are plenty of options that do not. Also many are not lost if you remove the meat from them. Dietary restrictions: Plenty of options for those with gluten allergies

WONDERFUL! Went for brunch and it was top notch.

While the server was wonderful, I cant give anything but 1 star overall because it was the worst dining experience of both my and my boyfriends lives. We went to the taco place across the street immediately after leaving and spending $100. We both sent items back for the first time in our lives; most items were so salty they were inedible. Not like oh salt makes things taste better - no it does not when the whole dish tastes like youre eating a spoonful of salt. We both tried each others dishes and agreed. Whoever was working that day, or had prepared the dishes, would surely have agreed as well had they tasted the items. Im glad to see were not the only ones who had this issue. Maybe on other nights the food is good, but that was not our experience. We waited forever for the food, and the beet salad had ingredients missing and was tiny, and not even what was on the plate was tasty. We communicated everything to the very kind waitress and she responded very appropriately. However, we will not be back to try again and I need no response from the place, reading the other immature responses they gave to anyone who had anything bad to say. Really maddening, reading those. I wouldnt have gone at all if I had just read one of those responses beforehand.

Everything was great! Not only was the food great but being served by people that seemed happy to be there made the experience feel that much better. I have nothing bad to say. I ordered the duck for my main and it was amazing. Will be back to try the brunch.

First of many visits! Such an inviting atmosphere and the staff was equally inviting and seemed genuinely excited about their work. I can appreciate catering a menu according to the seasons and Aster does a beautiful job with their ingredients. From the host to the bartender to the wait staff, everyone was great. Had our one year old with us and they had nonslip place mats and sippy cups ready without us even asking. Fiancé and I said this feels like we are being catered to at home. I have already recommended to a few friends! Can t wait to see what the menu holds in the future. Kid-friendliness: Had nonslip placemats and sippy cups ready once they saw we had a toddler with us! We didn t even have to request a special cup or use our own they had it with the standard water glasses for the table.

First time here, the breakfast was amazing as were the special desserts. Had a great waitress. We will surely be back for more!!

Horrible experience. Had a reservation and was told they could not seat us. Very well dressed. Guess what you missed out on a $300 bill that we had at 118 instead. Your hostess is a wicked B

High quality food that is prepared beautifully. Nothing else in Midland is at the same level. Menu rotates and changes with the season which I really love! It is both a fairly casual environment and elevated- perfect balance.

It is OK, but I think that they focused a little too much on appearance and not enough on flavor.

Very disappointed in the latkes. Did not expect them to be grey and only 1/10 of an inch thick. I grew up eating latkes and they were a crispy brown. Go out to food network and look up how to make them. Also someone else ordered the chicken and Johnny cake. Chicken was overcooked so much so the meat was dry and when you cut into it, it broke into pieces like it was brittle. Johnny cake is not a pancake...its a corn bread served with maple syrup. Fish Hush puppies were size of golf balls but when you cut into them there was only 1 tsp or less of fish. filling....mostly all air inside. Chef - take some cooking lessons. There were only 10 items on the menu. That included brunch and lunch/dinner. Most listed below were not available. Service slow with only 3 tables being used. Kid-friendliness: Nothing was kid friendly Wheelchair accessibility: Step up into restaurant. Not handicap friendly

Had the special which was A ribeye steak and fried potatoes. The food was good, but a bit rich tasting for me personally. Finally, tip Lanae lots. She deserves it!

Great Farm to Table spot in downtown Midland! Highly recommend going and giving it a try! Coffee was great, ask for raw honey! I got the burger and fries. Burger tasted nice and fresh and I think these are the best waffle fries I have ever had! In and out in 35 mins! See pic of Biscuits and Gravy!

I had a hard time deciding what to rate Aster. This was my first time eating here after my family raved about it. We ate out together for brunch and everything came out lukewarm. The potatoes are amazing but that was the only memorable thing about the meal. My father couldnt finish the sweet potato hash because of an off taste and my breakfast sandwich was just ok. Later that day my parents both had upset stomachs because of the food. The atmosphere is great and the staff was incredibly friendly and kind. This could have just been an off day, especially considering my family loved it the first time they ate there. But based off my first and only experience I was pretty disappointed. :/

My husband and I held our very small wedding reception here and it was the best experience we ever could ve asked for!! Beyond that, we usually come for brunch or dinner at least once a month. The atmosphere and music is always very chill here, and the food is hands down the best in the area. Aster is an absolute must if you re visiting or live in midland/Saginaw/bay city

The service is professional. They make the best burger Ive eaten, though they offer a limited menu given that it is a seasonal, farm to table restaurant. Ive not tried the drinks, which are relatively new, as the prices are a bit steep, though perhaps not compared with other downtown restaurants.

Fantastic dinner and enjoyable time at the bar in Aster. We shared the risotto and the branzino dinners, both awesome. Nice to chat with the chef/owner and bartender with no rush to leave even though we were there past closing. Great option for farm to table freshness.

I ordered the Beef & Broccoli Saturday night 9-10 at $35. Staff is always very good. Worst steak Ive had in my life hands down. Ive only had one other Bavette steak. First it was cold & very raw. I sent it back to be closer to medium and came back cooked to medium. CHEWY! Chewiest steak Ive ever had. The other food (honey nut french toast and burger) Ive had was about 4 star grade. Very disappointed this weekend and will stay away for awhile.

So very disappointed. Have been wanting to go for over a year. My friend and I both ordered mussels. No flavor. They were served with one piece of very salty faccocia bread. We asked for more bread to soak up the sauce. Second piece was even more salty and they charged us $6.00 for the extra two pieces of bread. I wont be back.

The knowledge and thought put into Aster is astonishing. From the bar menu to the food menu and even the items they put in the bathroom. Pads, diapers, even a child seat on the toilet. The chef came out a couple of times to see how we were doing. The bartender was great. Talked to us the entire time we were there. It was a great experience. I highly recommend the tomato toast, the elote and the dessert was divine!

Arrived at 4 pm for a dinner for three. My goodness where to begin. Bartender was an absolute A+ mixologist, as well as a great host. Waitresses (one in training) were top-notch. Owner/chef procured some of the best pastas I ve ever eaten. The fact that Aster isn t fully- booked during operational hours floors me. Book your reservation here: it s the best resto in the tri-city area - bar-none!!!

The best restaurant in Midland. Creative food and drink menus and always fresh ingredients. Worth every penny.

Seating was odd/uneven heights at our bench table that made for awkward interaction and conversation with my table mate (lots of leaning/scrunching down, etc). Acoustics were terrible they need something on the ceiling to absorb the sound. Service was lackluster: We finished our first small plate before our cocktails even arrived (waited more than 20 min and they weren t terribly busy). We really wanted to like the food but it fell way short - in both portion size and flavor especially for the price. We came for my birthday and made a reservation for dinner but left after the appetizer and had dinner elsewhere. We love to support small local businesses but our experience here was very disappointing.

Amazing food. The menu is a little intimidating but they do a great job explaining what everything is. To be honest, it doesn t really matter, it s all delicious. The cocktails are also very good. Order a Singapore sling or a last word.

Yummy! This is not a greasy spoon breakfast. If you like unique, very delicious food, this is the place. The fried potatoes were out of this world. Love it

Our first time here and we loved it. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The energy there was fun and positive and the food was incredible!!! Everything was perfect, well be back for sure .

What a find!!!! Their menu has a fun array of cuisines with a combination of small plates and entrees. We opted to try a variety of the small plates and one entree. GET THE PAJUN! So good. The elotes were classic, the beet salad was light and fresh. The hush puppies were like little clouds!!! As other reviewers stated, the smoked fish flavor is subtle but really tasty! For our entree we shared the meat and potatoes (steak, potatoes, and bone marrow butter). Cant wait to come back and try the seasonal options as the year goes on.

My wife and I wanted something different to celebrate our anniversary so we chose Aster - and we re glad we did. Quite a varied menu. We tried the Pajun - wow. She got the Coq au Vin and I had the bison short rib stroganoff. Both were excellent. Some might argue the serving sizes were not huge like too many restaurants offer. We thought they were perfect. We look forward to visiting again with a different menu.

***Edit, Aster management responded kindly to this review and informed that Google had not yet updated their hours. I wanted to edit review in response, and thank them for the information. Hoping to be able to dine with them sometime in the future*** This is the third time we have gone to Aster during their open hours, just to find that they are closed. Would not recommend this company, as they appear to be extremely lacking in the organization department.

We just ordered out from Aster tonight. We were extremely late getting there and, the restaurant staff s worry was that our food wouldn t be as good when we got it, as it was freshly cooked. But the food was absolutely delicious!!! And still warm (our fault if it hadn t been, as I said, we were extremely late getting there to pick up our order. But it was still warm). It is hands down, one of the best restaurants I ve eaten at! The food is most excellent and the staff are very kind and accomodating, which is appreciated We will be returning for more delicious food

Excellent would be an understatement. This restaurant is an experience like nothing in the area for an every-day kind of price... yes, I am speaking from experience, haha; the quality of the food, and the customer service keeps me coming back weekly. Now that they re here, I can t imagine a life without Aster! Try anything on the menu, you won t be disappointed!

A gourmet farm to table experience that is not to be missed. Aster has finally brought Michelin star-level dining to our city, and at a ridiculously reasonable price. The best food, and value for your money, to be had in Midland.

To start, I adored the atmosphere at Aster. It was a great place for a date night! We ordered the chicken sandwich and the burger. We split them both and enjoyed every bite! The chicken sandwich has a great crunch with a bit of spice and the burger was bursting with several different flavors. I love that the food is from local farmers as well and cannot wait to see menu changes with the seasons!

Atmosphere was very nice, food was amazing and staff were genuinely kind. I would definitely recommend anyone to eat there and I am looking forward to dining there again.

Farm to table! This exciting concept is a much needed addition to downtown Midland. Warm atmosphere! Friendly, prompt service. Ashley was so sweet. Chef Evan came out to talk to us and share his love of cooking. We can t wait to go back and are looking forward to the full bar for dinner cocktails. 4 stars with high potential for 5 stars in the near future! Go and support this local business so that they can continue to serve us delicious dishes.

The atmosphere was great however the food for everyone at my table was cold. I myself purchased three $45 steak and half of it was fat or improperly cooked. Nothing was done when brought to their attention. Not likely to try again.

This place is awesome! Delicious farm to table food and a great staff. My family loved our dinner at Aster! I had a burger and waffle fries and my wife had the mushroom risotto, both were so good. The wait staff was super fast, friendly and accommodating. This was the best dining experience we ve had in Midland. We will be back soon!

In a town that favors fast-food chains and thinks that Buffalo Wild Wings is a romantic date venue, Aster is a welcome change. I want to see these people succeed.

This was a happy accident! We meant to go next door but were so happy to find this place. It was like eating at a friends house who is an amazing cook. The food was awesome and evan and our server were amazing. My new favorite place!

Friendly staff especially Augie best server I have had so far in midland. Service is awesome and very friendly and personal staff. Hostess Christina was awesome and so friendly. Best burgers so fresh and delivered to our table by the Chef and owner Evan. I love the concept of Farm to table and being from Chicago I dont find many restaurants like this. You have to at least try Aster once.

Ordered takeout tonight and it was fabulous! We got the burger, fried chicken sandwich, and a Caesar salad and loved it all. Staff was very friendly and the food was ready on time. Can t wait to come back and dine in person!

The atmosphere is both sophisticated and kid friendly. They bring you table settings based on what you order but also have a changing table WITH DIAPERS in the bathroom. Fancy food with a family friendly vibe. The food is delicious and beautifully cooked. Portion size is great, the food is fresh, and the chef is kind. He came out to chat with us at the end of our meal and seemed like a genuinely kind guy. Ten out of ten would recommend to a friend. We came back a second time for a date night - baby in tow - and were welcomed as if we were family. Just a super nice establishment!

This is definitely one of the Must Try venues that downtown Midland has to offer! The interior of the restaurant is just as welcoming as the service. Awesome farm to table restaurant in downtown Midland. They had just opened an outdoor patio area when we ate which was nice. I had the lamb shank special and which was beautifully presented and one of the best meals I ve had in Midland. Would definitely recommend.

We had a delightful dinner. We shared smoked shrimp hushpuppies - the lightest ones Ive ever had! The pea risotto was fresh and even had an egg on top. My husbands whitefish was also delicious. Cant wait to go back!

Love that Midland has a farm to table restaurant! The chicken sandwich is to die for! Hope it stays on rotation for the long term.

Food is so wonderful! I had the mushroom risotto my first visit so decided to try the pea risotto for takeout tonight! It was perfect!

We contacted Aster while looking for venues to host our small wedding reception. Evan was a pleasure to work with from beginning to end. While planning the event Evan was flexible and professional, working with us to create a special evening for ourselves and our guests. The night of our event went perfectly smoothly, everyone was very impressed with the food and atmosphere! We look forward to coming back.

A welcomed addition to downtown Midland

Our son and daughter-in-laws wedding reception was absolutely lovely at the Aster last weekend. Evan and his crew made certain that no detail was overlooked. The food was amazing, the staff was attentive, the atmosphere was intimate and inviting. Looking forward to hitting up their brunch soon.

My oh my this place is good! Dropped in on Sunday morning right at opening, 10am, for brunch. We didnt have a reservation but luckily it wasnt needed. We sat outside under the umbrella on a beautifully overcast July morning. Service was quick for drinks. Coffee for me and tea for hubby. Coffee is strong and rich, its a Chicago brand but cant remember the name. They dont have sweeteners but instead white or brown sugar and honey. I had the brown sugar but will probably try the honey next time. I ordered the sweet potato hash. Yummy! Loved breaking the egg yolk over the hash . Everything in the hash just tasted fresh. Hubby ordered the burger. We were a bit confused since the menu says $3 to make it a double, which we did, and the burger came with 3, 4oz. patties! The server said the burgers are already doubles so its actually a triple burger! The menu should be adjusted to account for that. Hubby didnt mind the third burger but for others that might not go over too well. Prices are higher than other chain places but we didnt mind because the food was fresh, delicious and I love to support local! Parking is right along the one way street (Ashman) so it might be hard to find a spot right near by if its busy but its not that big of a deal to walk from any other nearby parking. Other than the burger confusion my only other complaint is the water. I believe its tap water and to me the citys water is very chlorinated so unfortunately I couldnt drink it. The coffee was ok but to just drink the water, nope, not for me. Well definitely be back to try other options (want to try the duck!) and I suggest you give this place a try, you wont be sorry!

Evan and the Aster team hosted our wedding reception dinner a few weeks ago, and it was perfect. Intimate, beautiful space, an amazing menu, super helpful staff -- couldnt ask for anything else. They really went above and beyond for us.

I went in with 3 other people and the place was busy, our server was awesome. Even with all she had going on, she was prompt and answered all the questions we had asked. I had the burger, easily the best one in Midland. The chef came out and spoke to us as well, super cool and friendly guy. The place has a great atmosphere, has a nice modern rustic feel to it. The place would be great for any occasion, from a first date or just grabbing a bit to it with some friends. I highly recommend stopping in.

Aster is such a special place in Midland. After working in California at a Michelin restaurant this was at the top of my list to try when I came home for a visit. I appreciate the thoughtfulness put into each dish. The service was excellent. I wish them nothing but the best!

Would have given a 5 but didnt have any wine. I feel that was necessary. I do recommend the duck though, that was delicious.

Brunch today was our second meal here in 2 days. We are hooked! Knowing that most of Evan s ingredients are organic & locally sourced is what brought us in on Friday to begin with. We came back today because that first meal was outstanding!! The photos below are from left the beautiful beet salad, sweet potato hash, & the duck confit tostado.

Limited menu. Very tasty breakfast options. Coffee tasted good but not hot.

AMAZING FOOD

I recently moved to the area and Aster was the first local restaurant I tried. I couldnt have been more impressed. The food was great, the service was wonderful, and the prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of the food. We ordered the smoked fish hush puppies, duck breast, and mushroom risotto. Everything was excellent! Great job!

We had an absolutely wonderful experience! We took our 2-year-old and meet up with a family that has a 1-year-old. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating, and the bathroom had a place to change diapers, a toddler seat on the toilet, and diapers and wipes. Our food was excellent and reasonably priced for the fantastic quality. Highly recommend and will be going back!

Great atmosphere & welcoming staff! Each plate was a work of art and full of delightful flavors. Knowing that I was eating Sarahs vegetables out of Hope MI made my meal all the more satisfying! Evan and his team are responsible citizens in sourcing from and supporting our local/regional producers. What would be considered waste out of most restaurants is captured by other local businesses for further use in soap and nutrients/compost for soil health. Aster is a model for sustainable food service and an asset for our community. If you want to support multiple local/regional businesses, this is where you can do it and get a wonderful experience along with the way!

Got the burger and chicken for takeaway, both were great.

Ordered takeout burgers during the pandemic lockdown. These were substantial, filling, and had delicious cheese and special sauce. The waffle fries were crispy and even reheated well. Looking forward to an indoor visit when this virus is under control!

Had the burger with waffle fries to go, and it was great! So many flavors (in a good way) and the burger itself was cooked perfectly. I believe I was able to save half for lunch the next day because it was quite a big meal. I ve had the pleasure of meeting the owners as well, and they are wonderful. I love their mission to locally source ingredients and use food as an opportunity to build community.
