On vacation and this Chinese restaurant was recommended and the dining room was freezing and a lot of food was cold and very few selections we left very disappointed and don t recommend this place especially for almost $20 a person.

It would be 5 stars because their food is very flavorful and delicious however there is a very limited selection for the buffet. Have not ordered off of the menu here but I would assume it would be delicious based off of the food at the buffet

Place still needs exterior work to entrance. Some type of auto collision looks to hit the entrance. They have clean the trash that blew into the non- working water garden, but had quite a few weeds that we 18 to 24 tall around the water garden. The food was good. Service was good. Vegetarian options: Not much on buffet vegetarian

This place knows how to make good food. The service and cleanliness was top notch. The only complaint was a limited selection, but Id rather have a small selection made well than a large selection made mediocre.

Came in for hibachi meals and they were delicious! Ordered the filet and shrimp and we were not disappointed. The hibachi area is a nice addition

What a sorry excuse for an all you can eat buffet. Literally maybe 6 dishes set out for you to choose from. And that includes dessert. It s just sad and way overpriced. Food is 100000% not worth the money.

Some of the dishes, were not, heated enough. Some dishes were too spicy hot and also too much black pepper tasting. I really, enjoyed, the crab cheese & chicken on a stick. Would have, loved some, peanut butter chicken or honey chicken.

The staff was super friendly. I wish I could find something else good to say about this place. Food is absolutely horrible. Luke warm, super old food at the overpriced buffet. I mean I have been to so Chinese buffets and this was by far the worst. I dont understand why good food is so hard to find. First and last visit.

Pi s has improved from my last review. The Hunan sesame chicken is awesome. They also made it to order. Since I m on Weight Watchers, they make it with no breading. You only have to ask. Their Jasmine tea is the best!! My husband loves the buffet. Dietary restrictions: They will custom your order. If they can. They also explain the dishes if you ask.

Not bad Chinese food.

Ive been visiting Pis for 20+ years, and they never disappoint. Highly recommend the Sweet and Sour Chicken (best sweet and sour sauce Ive ever had) and the crab ragoons. If you get takeout, they do a fantastic job and boxing the items to get them home safely. Highly recommend!

My brother who has Down syndrome loves receiving fortune cookies when we come to Pi s. But tonight he wasn t given one even after we requested them. He was so distraught he was barely able to drive us home :(

Foods gotten better since covid. For a while it was HURTING. You desperately need to maintain your grounds. It looks like you really don t care anymore.

Although food is good, last few visits the buffet dishes (except soups) dont come out until 10-15 minutes after opening.

Outdated, run down, they barely try to make an enjoyable experience. Working off what they used to be and its disappointing.

The food was absolutely horrible. Everything was way overcooked and there wasn t much of a variety for a buffet. Money wasted. Staff was friendly.

Theyre struggling to get enough help, so while the servers were working hard and moving as quickly as possible, there were gaps in service and long wait times for requests

When we first started going here, many years ago, they had great food. Unfortunately, its been a steady decline. We ate here last week and it will be our last meal here. Waitress was very good but the food was NOT. Buffet items were mostly overcooked. Lots of rock hard rice mixed in. 1/3-1/2 of the buffet item trays were empty. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Pis has been my favorite Chinese restaurant since I first started going there 20 years ago. I hadnt been there since before the pandemic when I recently stopped by to get takeout. I ordered three dishes (ones that I had had before from their buffet), and all three of them were disappointing. The Sesame Chicken was overcooked to the point that it was hard to chew. The Pork Lo Mein had super fat overcooked and water-logged noodles. I dont even recall what the third dish was (it just wasnt memorable). I hope that it was an anomaly because Pis has always been the best. I intend on going back to have their buffet because I recall enjoying every single dish on it consistently for many years, and I want to see if it has changed. Gosh, I hope not.

My wife and I went for the lunch Buffet on 1-21-23. We were not impressed. In my first helping of Shrimp and vegetables I had a piece of plastic in it. The beef and broccoli did not taste good. Most of the food was Luke warm to cold and not hot. The best thing I ate was the egg rolls. My wife did not like or finish her food. Parking: Parking lot is in very bad condition, full of ruts, pot holes, due to lack of care, and building going on next door.

Service was good, but everything was cold on the buffet. The only hot item was the soup, very disappointing.

Ive been here many times over the last 22 years. Always had phenomenal food...except for this time. I dont think I have ever been so disappointed! The very small buffet they have now doesnt offer a very wide variety of dishes. The ones the did have were almost empty, barely warm, and looked like they had been out there all afternoon. We were just about finished eating when a group came in. They brought out all fresh dishes!! Our server, Angie, was very nice and accommodating. The egg drop soup was the best part of the meal and even that had a skin on the top... Just really sad to see this place go that far down hill. The people who own this place are the owners of Gengi which will be Benihana when they reopen. Hope they do better there!!

This is the most racist place. If you are black or of color do not go there. They seat white people before black people I repeat the restaurant is racist

We used to love coming to the buffet here. We visited 1/23/23 and unfortunately the food was awful. You know its bad when your waitress tells you not to get the soup because it was not good today. The fried rice was mushy, the buffet space was messy with food all about. Some of the food was only mildly warm. Wont go back.

Now its even worse cold food, egg rolls half empty, hardly anything on the buffet. Its really to bad cause it was a great resturant! We will never be back, ever!!!! When u pay $16.75 for a meal u expect to get a dish that is not 3/4 rice. Get less than1 cup max of meat choice.. Paid for extra shrimp in one dish. Maybe got 2 extra. This was an order for 6 people so six dishes $150.00.. One person ordered sizzling rice soup (large) got 3 pieces of shrimp and 1/4 cup mushrooms in soup that was in a 1 quart size container -- all broth. Everyone was disappointed in their meal. Pis is really come down in quality. Vegetarian options: Ordered fried rice with vegetables added got 5 small pieces of broccoli lots of water chestnuts as extras. So basically. paid for fried rice. $16.75 wont be ordering again.

What a disappointment! It was suppose to be a buffet. It was so small! No sushi, no salad, no fresh fruit ( a bowl of pineapples that were canned, not fresh), no dessert. No orange chicken, but I was reminded that there was sesàme chicken, which is nearly the same, just no orange taste! Really? Thats the purpose of orange chicken, to taste the orange! I asked the waitress about the little fried donuts rolled in sugar and she said they dont serve them until 4pm, it was 2:40 and only 5 tables of customers. She said she would ask in the kitchen as my elderly mom was really looking forward to them. Waitress came back and said the cook wouldnt make them because it wasnt 4pm. She was so kind, that she brought my mom 2 Little Debbie cinnamon cakes that she brought from home. Most of the food that was available was good and hot. The beef and broccoli brown sauce was very thin and very light colored, like they watered it down. Huge disappointment! Ill never go there again! $12.95 for lunch, $14.99 for dinner ( with the fried donuts) The waitress was very kind and attentive, we tipped her. Vegetarian options: There was one vegetarian dish Parking: Sidewalks not shoveled, very difficult for my mom to handle her walker Kid-friendliness: I dont feel it was kid friendly food options.

Not a bad place for lunch

Since moving to the area a year ago I was excited to try a local Chinese restaurant and see if it was anywhere near what I was used to back home. It was worse than expected. Order was placed for delivery, food arrived nice and hot but that is where the positives end. Rice in fried rice was overcooked, mushy, and flavorless. Appetizers were bland and lackluster with the egg roll having dry, gray, tasteless meat (pork?) inside. Main entree of General Tso chicken was also... surprisingly bland. No spice or flavor whatsoever, meat was slimy and had an off smell too it. Would not recommend and will not be ordering again.

This place has gone down hill so bad. I used to come here every Wednesday, then I found hair in my food so I stopped going. Almost 2 years later decided to give it another shot. The food was disgusting, and cold. Everything on the buffet you could tell had been sitting for AWHILE! The quality of the meat was questionable. Will not be going back.

It was my first time going and I wasn t that impressed with the food. I got the Korean BBQ option because I had it at a different restaurant and really liked it there. There was a night and day difference between the two, this location being the worst of the two. I got my plate and the rice was dry and stale like it was sitting premade for a long time. The meat was gritty like it was cooked on a pan that hadn t been cleaned from other items. I had originally gotten the egg roll with my meal instead of the crab Rangoons and I was still given the crab Rangoons anyway. Everything was bland and gross so I definitely will not be going back if I can help it. Parking: The parking lot is full of potholes even in the handicap spaces so it s a fight to get someone with mobility issues inside. Wheelchair accessibility: Inside has a lot of good access for wheelchairs but outside is a different story with the parking lot full of potholes in the handicap spaces.

Buffet could offer more selections. They did a good job keeping it stocked through lunch time rush though.

DO NOT GO HERE. The food was awful, made me sick. Not many options, drinks we ordered were wrong. Just stay away. If I could I would give it negative stars

My mom and I ate there a while ago and she got maggots in her food. The staff was really nice about it though . They had maggots and the food was cold . The buffet is not as good as it used to be

The owner is a terrible human who just cut all of his staff with no advance notice!! Boycott the Take out until they are gone!!

The buffet was very good. Compared to some Chinese buffets, it was a small selection, but as it turns out, this didnt mean fewer choices, it just meant there were fewer bad choices. Everything on this buffet looked appetizing, but I just couldnt eat everything.

We wanted to try Pis again after not going for a few years, we heard that they brought back their original chefs. The food was delicious and fresh, the staff was very friendly and attentive. Our new favorite place once again!

Delicious buffet! So glad the cook returned! We dined inside, paid for our meal and was given the receipt so we could decide tip after we had Buffett. They will let you decide what you d like off the menu while at the table. Great service and delicious food to travel for!!!

Just not what it used to be.

Thank God theyre back to making good delicious food again and working hard at keeping the buffet fully stocked and fresh at all times even when its close to closing time! I missed eating here for a while but now that theyre back weve been here at least once a week for over a month!

Food was great just as I remembered when I was younger with the old chefs back the soup was great as well one of my favorites about the place, service was great as well, glad they turned it around

We quit coming here awhile ago because the food just wasnt good anymore. I heard they brought back the old chef and to give them a try again. So we ordered out and it was so good and we will definitely order again.

They really need to update themselves. I enjoyed going a few years ago, but the Buffett is average at best. Selection is poor and often everything tastes the same. Really looking run down, parking lot is a terrible mess and landscaping has gone away. We will not be returning anytime soon.

While my family and I spent the day in midland we decided to try this buffet out. For it to be a buffet it had very little options to choice from. The food was not the greatest, it tasted like they had premade meats. Not like real chicken or steak the texture was like mush, fast forward to the best part! About 20 mins after leaving we went to a thrift store near by needless to say my whole family and I were all racing/fighting over the restroom (if that tells you anything). Definitely wouldn t recommend or go back, I actually am checking with my bank on how to get a refund because that was a total waste! Dietary restrictions: I wouldn t eat this food if I was on a diet, I would rather eat rocks

High quality meat. Nice selections of entrees. My only complaint is that this restaurant doesn t serve Chinese pancakes for Mooshoo Pork.

Did Pi s change ownership? Getting ready to close permanently? Outside of building (parking lot, landscaping) is decrepit. Pot holes and weeds. Are they giving up on their appearance? The food was just ok. Four years ago it was a different place. Actually enjoyable. Now, not so much. The service was really good but Sadly we won t be back. I would not recommend this place to anyone .

While not a great deal of variety, what was offered on the buffet on Saturday Evening looked inviting and tasted excellent. 07/28/2023: Visited early on a Friday night for the dinner buffet. Very good dining experience.

I grew up in Midland and Pis has always been a great place. The food quality went down hill a few years ago when I would visit town. I heard rumors about the management changes and gave it a try again. The food was excellent and back to the quality that I remember it being. Really glad I gave it another try!

Only place that I feel comfortable with using the buffet. Pis is clean, service is friendly and prompt. Most important, the food is very good.

The food is better now that they have the old chef back. The building, however, is falling apart. Theres a hole in the roof, and you can smell mold when you walk in. The parking lot is terrible. I know theres a new business going in, but the parking lot has been a mess for a long time now. A little building up keep goes a long way.

The sweet and sour pork was tough and barely chewable.and hot and sour soup should be dark in color.not clear cabbage soup.a poor excuse for asian cuisine.thumbs down.

Buffet was limited. Several containers were empty, and remained empty for quite a while. Very bland, not much flavor on alot of the food. Soup was watered down, big time. Way to expensive for what was offered. Also, have good shocks when you pull in their driveway, looks and feels like WW2 bombing raid just happened. This restaurant has gone down hill.

Everyone said the old chef came back and the food was great again, so we gave it a shot... Nope, still same old bland, and somewhat unfresh tasting food. Since Popeyes opened their parking is horrid, I cant fault the business totally on that. A good asphalt project might be helpful though

I hate to do this as Pis was always a great restaurant in the past, the best Chinese in Midland. My last three visits were awful. I ate there for the last time yesterday. Arrived 20 minutes after opening for dinner buffet. All food was old and crusty. Only one other table was occupied and the patrons left in disgust. The entire time we were eating a waitress was running a vacuum cleaner around our table. When another group of patrons walked in she did not even stop vacuuming to shout over our table and across the room for their drink orders. I think Pis is a victim of circumstance and failure to roll with the changes more than anything. Between COVID and dwindling business on this end of town. The adjacent bar/hotel was just demolished leaving them in a big empty parking lot. They know how to make great food if they were busy enough to keep it up, but will have to make some changes to their business model if they expect to survive.

Well personally I like the Other place across the street, however, they are TAKE out only. I would of liked the Hostess or Table Seater or whatever they are called now to have been more attentive. Waitress or Server was Awesome. Food was Okay, as I had the Buffet. Son had Off the Menu he really appreciated it.

Been eating here over 20 years I have to say that in the past 2 years this business has gotten terrible The prices keep rising and the portion sizes keep sinking I thought after ordering lunch that spending $16.95 on lunch was quite quite crazy considering I could spend that on a steak at Luckys Ive ate here most of my life and always was a weekly repeat customer and after reading some of the other Google reviews a lot of other regular patrons are dissatisfied as well and with no apologies from the owners

Food was cold when we went for the buffet and something was just off with the quality I heard this place used to be good years ago one of the worst buffets I ever been to. The waiter was nice Angie but the food sat on the buffet and was only refilled when I waiter had to do it herself.

We had the buffet and the food was bland. Had limited options for soup. The fried rice was bland also. I had the almond chicken and it was dry. We just overall had a poor experience with the food.

Quality has gone way down hill. Chicken (General Taos) was like jerky, dried, and Almond Chicken was like soup. Beef and Broccoli was ok. 3 small egg rolls and wontons. 3 to-go meals $65. Not again.

Update to my review: this place, which used to be a favorite, has become absolute garbage. They charge more than their competitors, they stuff their take out boxes with food that is not part of the dish to fill the container rather than just filling the container with the actual food you ordered. The food you get is old, dry and gross. If I could give zero stars I would.

We have always loved Pis Chinese takeout. Last night my husband picked it up and it had very little flavor, but the disturbing thing was that the chicken tasted like it had been cooked previously and reheated. We always get meals out of it, but threw it away afraid of food poisoning. Also, it was very pricey, but less disturbed about that given the price of everything going up. It was disturbing, however, paying that price for something that ended up down the disposal.

Ok Chinese American food

I ordered take out the other night before going to work. A lot was wrong with my order. And also my husbands meat was not cooked. Im not asking for a free meal just called to tell them. I was pretty much called a lier about my complaints. Well wasnt lieing and I have spent a lot of money there. Well unfortunately we will miss the place.

Time and time again does this place just fail that stepping up to the plate and bringing acceptable food to the takeout area and in their buffet very sad used to be my favorite place to go for Chinese in Midland but now every time I get it the food is nearly unedible. This last time I had gotten sweet and sour chicken egg rolls and crab rangoons all three of them tasted like fish how in the world does this happen other than frying fish in the same oil youre frying everything else in and not changing it out this is absurd I will never be coming back here ever again no more chances. As well as my meal was over 30 dollars for myself!!

Was my go to place, havent been there in 2 years, and I will NEVER be back! Server was incredible! The food was completely different! Thought place was closed no cars in the parking lot, we were the only people seated in dining room. That should have been my first clue that something was wrong. Buffet started at 4pm or so the sign on door and website say, the food was dried out completely flavorless and looked and tasted like it was out there all day!! The poor waitress kept asking is there anything I can bring you or go get for you, like I said she was incredible! Stay far away from this once great place!!!!!!!!!

Why spend so much money for a buffet with hardly anything on it. No selection cold food. Flies everywhere. The servers are good but thats pretty much it. Try going elsewhere. Otherwise you are wasting your money

Usually this place is good but for some reason the egg rolls on the buffet, Spicey chicken, onion rings, and Mongolian beef were cold. ( barely lukewarm) and the fried chicken was either burnt or refried. Thats the 1st time neither of us enjoyed it.

Used to be a great place. I grew up in the area and brought my boyfriend there expecting that it was wonderful like it used to be. I went there and the food was old and dry, the buffet was overpriced expecting $18.79 for a very small buffet with limited options that was poorly maintained. The server was polite but way overworked and the only focus was on take out orders. Will not be back, very disappointed. Save your money and go somewhere else.

This is such an odd place. The outside looks horrible almost like you re not sure if you wanna go in. TBH if id gone alone I probably wouldn t have gone in. The inside seems nice, it s spacious but the space is oddly used. The buffet is small and slowly refilled. All of the food is bland and not what you expect. They had a couple soup options, Crab rangoons, eggrolls, white rice, fried rice (if you can call it that), lo mein and 5 or 6 entree items. The best item was the Princess chicken second best was hunan chicken. Servers are friendly and helpful. The dining room is odd and feels like an assisted living home. The floor is kinda disgusting and needs to be replaced. Parking lot needs to be redone, it s really bad. Overall I d say this is a pass.

Good flavors, but I think they add sodium bicarbonate to steak to help it break down and become soft, sometimes it goes too far and steak feels old and mealy.

My husband and I have enjoyed Pis for almost 30 years. Today we did not enjoy the buffet. The food on the buffet had obviously sat there way to long. Nothing was fresh and somethings were disgusting. If not for the memories of a much nicer restaurant. I wouldnt leave even 1 star.

Dont waste your time. New management has increased prices and lessen quality. Its too gross to eat most of it. Use to be a hopping place, now barely see any cars there.... Its clear by the flavor as to why. Another family loved restaurant thatll be closed in a few months.

Other reviews were correct the food is not the same as it used to be. Buffet food was cold at 11:30am, and tasted poor. Cost for the buffet $$$$! We won t be back..

Wow. Used to be a regular when l lived here but just picked up my shrimp Pad Thai and it is really awful. Not like any Pad Thai l have eaten. So much soy sauce, so salty and not a Pad Thai flavor at all. Shrimp is strong tasting.. whatever happened to my favorite Pi s? $23 in the trash can cannot recommend. Get take out at China Palace..

Chinese is typically good prices went up though

Small buffet. Little variety as each selection is pretty much the same. It all pretty much tastes the same too. It gets the second star for the wait staff.

Ordered buffet for dinner and it was basically empty and looked old: asked when the food would be there and they said that the person didn t show up. They said they would order more food for the buffet. Waited over an hour.

Went there yesterday. Waitress stuck thumb in my soup while setting it down. Sloshes soup into table and carried wet thumb into the next bowl she set down. Very nice waitress, but thats gross. So didnt eat. Main dish came out, but by then we had several flies and gnats all around us. There was issue with them.by buffet and in the restaurant. Didnt eat. Whole experience was enough to not come back.

Food not very warm on buffet, and not near the variety as they once had.

First and last time there. Went there with family and more than half the menu items they no longer served: blamed it on the Pandemic Lo Mein noodles were nasty, taste like vinegar or something was added, rice ok (could have been better), egg rolls were pork (would like to have had a variety) and sugar rolls/biscuits were well done. Waitress was pleasant and place was clean, but I wont go back. Overpriced for food

This place is terrible. You pay pretty much $15 per person for dinner and they literally cannot keep food stocked in the buffet, it was empty most of the time and there was maybe 6 tables of people.

Our waitress was super nice. The restaurant was not. Everything my daughter and I tried to order something from the menu it was out. We were with another party of 2 that had already ordered. One person got the buffet and she had no issues. The other person ordered and when she was proceeding to eat her food she noticed something moving. There was a maggot in her dish. The poor waitress apologized profusely and went to find out what happened. We decided to leave. On our way out she again apologized and told us that somehow their nuts were compromised. Needless to say, we will not be returning. Your wait staff was good, but I dont think we will ever trust the food.

I have been going to Pis since I was introduced to it in 2005. It has always been good. Unfortunately very recently the food has reduced in quality. Hopefully it will return to its glory days.

Very little food options. It is also not very authentic and very bland.

The variety on buffet is very minimal. The food that was on the buffet was barely edible. Super disappointing. Should have drove past.

Downhill since covid

We had the buffet, food barely warm. I did complain and they took some $ off.

I used to love Pis but they have changed i ordered sweet and sour chicken without mushrooms because Im allergic to mushrooms. And when I got my food home thank God I checked it before eating it it was full of mushrooms . Needless to say that went straight into the trash

Used to be great. Now not so much. Ordered takeout for dinner was so disappointed. The chicken was mostly fat and the rice was undercooked.
