DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! This is the worst service we have ever received. We went in to celebrate my husbands birthday but had to cut the celebration short. First we met with a host with the worst attitude and nasty expression. Second the waiter was completely lost it seemed. we had to ask him to take our order, to bring us refills, he never asked once if we needed anything. He would disappear for long periods of time and none of the other waiters attempted to help us when we were all looking around trying to get our check. Then 5 people in our party ordered alcoholic beverages and they tasted like they had not added a drop of alcohol! It was all our drinks , they tasted like juice. Last but not least the food was mediocre at best the queso was cold, fajitas were soggy and barely warm. The best part about this whole experience was the chips and salsa….. I am truly saddened we wasted our time and money on what was supposed to be a nice birthday dinner. I wouldn’t come back if it was free.
Traveling through Texas, we wanted Mexican for dinner. I googled Mexican, and so many came up. I chose Abuelos and was so glad I did. At first, I was a little disappointed that the hostess told us there was no booth available because she didn't want to overwhelm the waiter. We were seated, and Robert, our waiter, was there immediately and brought us a happy hour menu. We ordered margaritas and a draft beer. What a deal at $5! The food, a combination plate, and enchiladas were delicious. But, it was Robert that made us love this place. He checked back with us all the time, even though he was so busy. Just a great waiter all around. Highly recommend Abuelo's for an all around experience. Great waiter, great chips and salsa, and wonderful Mexican food!
The food was good, the margarita I had was so so but it wasn't terrible. The atmosphere I felt that it could have been a little better.
This place is always consistent! Great place to eat with the entire family or just post up and have drinks and appetizers!
We were told there would be a 25-minute wait. We were in our seats at a table in 5 minutes. Service was spot on. And the meal? Excellent. Pictured here is what is left of the Laredo: one cheese and one beef enchilada, taco, papas, and refried beans. You'll want to clean your plate better than I did. I was just too full to lick it. Chips and salsa and drinks were always topped off. Five stars all around!

We started our dinner and drinks at Abuelo’s with the La Grandeza, the house Margarita and the Raspberry Hibiscus Margarita. The hand shaker for one of the drinks was presented to us at our table and these were hands down the best margaritas I’ve had. Along with the drinks, came in fresh tortilla chips and the yummiest salsa spreads. Our server was very friendly and didn’t miss a beat on the salsa and chips refills. We then had the vegetable fajitas for the mains which were very delicious. The place didn’t have much of a wait time and it was overall a very good dinner. Definitely going back there next time we’re looking for some yummy margaritas and a pretty decent vegetarian meal.
I enjoyed an amazing supper with friends. Or server was very friendly and attentive. I had the Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Shrimp. It is an appetizer but was plenty for me. Also, in the table Fajita Tacos and Bacon Wrapped Pork Tenderlions and Spinach Enchildas. We got there at 6pm and only had to wait about 10 minutes. That wasn't a long wait at all.
I so much enjoy coming to Abuelos.
Update: They didn t want to give us a booth. Supposedly because of our stroller since it was a fire hazard (no other restaurant has a problem) but she was going to place us in the middle. After that we told her we would go leave it in the car and then she proceeded to tell us they were short staffed so we just left. We didn t have no problem, but she was just rude. Update #2 decided to give this place another chance and It seems like this place is super dirty. Their water is disgusting, the cups are dirty. The water had like floaties. We had to eat without drinking anything. I recorded but unfortunately I can t post videos on here.

Good service, great food
I ordered the special with lobster & Shrimp. The taste was fantastic, however, all I got for the lobster was the shell. I looked and dug around to find it. Did not happen. For a meal that is $31 dollars, rip off.

Don t waste your money. Go to Rosa s. We ordered the mix fajitas for 2 $45. What was brought out was roast meat not skirt or flank steak, the chicken was not cut and grilled but more like steamed and semi sliced. There was a bbq sauce all over it. There was a whole skillet of onions but no bell peppers. The flavor was just ok- not worth the money.
This is a great place but they took so long to make my food/30 minutes and is was a little burnt but still delicious other wise it was great and I really enjoyed it I recommend you come Kid-friendliness: Yes my kids loved it with all the trees, statues, and TVs this place is awesome they said.
Nearly $1000 Pickup order set for 6pm pickup, arrived at 6:10 and nothing had been started. 6:45 it starts coming out. Literally every employee vacated the bar area where you have to wait, including the manager in the UT pull over. Not one acknowledgement of the issue or apology. Guess it s not uncommon.
I ordered fajitas and they came out looking not so good. It didn t smell good either. I touched the plate and I was able to hold my hand on it. It was hardly hot. Then I grabbed the meat and it was luke warm. Freakin gross!! The server offered to take it to be heated up but I was grossed out. This ll be the last time I come here

This is a really nice mexican restaurant, the margaritas and food were good .
Do not order in Abuelos any delivery. I always have an important item missing in my orders. One day the queso, one day the chips, other day the complete fajita plate. And they never are accountable to these mistakes. This last time the were not only missing item but also the meat was not enough for a 2-3 people and had some fat. This is the last time I order or go there.

Good food, good service. The only issue I had was with the queso. For some reason, no Mexican restaurant in West Texas serves the delicious white queso you get back east. This place, like all the rest in West Texas, served the yellow Velveeta type crap and it tore my stomach up.

I recently dined at Abuelos and had the pleasure of being served by Jeremy. He was outstanding and very attentive throughout our meal. Jeremy knew the menu inside and out, providing the best service Ive experienced in a long time. Highly recommend visiting Abuelos and asking for Jeremy!
I got ONE glass of tea, was dying of thirst she was to busy gripping about how people didnt tip her enough. Ran out of chips, no refill. I finally had to go ask guy for a refill. He acted ticked. Yep, she got a dime left on table for her poor service. We went directly to store for a drink. Price is expensive, but food was good. Temperature was comfortable. Next visit I will bring water with me.

Was told an hour wait and we agreed, but then got sat in 10 minutes ?!? Absolutely awful.Time consuming and soul destroying Service. Took 30 minutes to get bar drinks another 30 minutes to get our order after begging for chips and salsa. Another hour for our food to come out after no refills on drinks. Right before the food came out we where trying to pay the tab and leave. over 2 hours to receive our food. Can t believe a company as big as them can t get simple restaurant etiquette down. Manager didn t seem to care, just paid for our food. Food was OK, Nothing special. We are trying this restaurant again 2 years later and so far it s still sucking
Margaritas are 10/10! Delicious!!!!
They have really great food, and the staff are wonderful and friendly. I would recommend anyone to try it. I think youll be pleasantly surprised how good everything really is. Parking: They are so popular that it gets crowded pretty quickly, so it can be difficult to find a close spot near the building sometimes. But there is plenty of parking. I do think they need some more handicapped spaces, though.

Just a little bit more upscale than your typical Mexican restaurant in Midland and Odessa. The best thing about this place is the seating. Dont get me wrong the food, decor and the service is all great. I just really liked nice booths and tables that are spread out throughout the restaurant spaciously. This allowed me to really enjoy my dinner without feeling like someone was sitting right on top of me.

I like Abuelos. The food is good, and the service is good. Its clean and attractive and offers lots of menu choices. It doesnt have loud music blaring over the speakers so its a nice place for lunch with friends. Parking is not too bad, but the lot can get crowded, so you might have to walk a little. Its a good place, especially for lunch.

Service was very POOR......
To start with, I want to thank our waiter Tony. We have been to the restaurant 2 times in as many weeks. Tony was our server as I just came from surgery. His ability to keep up and still maintain a meaningful conversation is awesome. He is there when you need something but also busy enough that hes not intruding on your meal. Tony, that skill is a hard one to learn and harder to maintain. I cant thank you enough for making us feel so important while still having room to talk. This being our 2nd time there together, we also agreed that the flavor and presentation was also a notch higher this time. Having ordered fajitas and a grande there was A LOT of food. And as is our custom we spoke to the manager to let him know his staff was doing it right. Also having Tony pass our gratitude to the chef. Whom we found out was new. Showcasing the talent in acquisitions of management. Gentlemen if you want to make your date feel important, or heck if you just want to feel important. This is the best service, the best quality I have seen in the area. It does come at a cost but that cost is definitely on par with similar class restaurants but those guys typically lack the service level or the food quality. Be ready to take some food home too.. all of the food drinks in my photos plus a good tip was covered for $100. Good luck to everyone working at Midlands Abuelos Mexican restaurant. Great food and great service every time we visit
The taco salad will leave you filled to the brim and you ll still have food left over. Abuelo s serves Mexican food that gears more towards Tex-Mex. Great food, excellent service, and plenty of food options to choose from.

2 weeks in a row we have had a horrible time. Last week we had a server who was high, and they had to replace him. Our order and stuff took over an hour. Then tonight our order took almost 45 minutes to come out. We love the food but I dont know what is going on with the service.

Terrible experience. The place supposedly closes at 10 and they were putting chairs up all around us by 9:15pm. They might as well have put up my chair and made me stand. They closed off sections of the bar area saying that those were no longer available even though there was literally no one there. The beans were oversalted, the rice was cold, the queso congealed. They forgot almost anything I asked for but the one silver lining is that they brought me a large beer even though I asked for a pint. More is better I guess.
This place sucks.
Beautiful place, also good food. We went during shift change and still got our food quickly. I m not sure if they had a new bartender but they didn t know how to make a skinny margarita, first time it was brought to me with a ton of juice in it. When I asked the waiter, he said yes, I saw her pour juice in there. So he brought another with no juice but still had the margarita mix in it, which is not low calorie either. Oh well, hope they get her trained and she can really see the art in making drinks.

After being a consistent patron of this place for years even having been known on a first name basis by a waitress I am appalled by tonights service. Arrived at 9:20 and made a reservation for a table of 9. Understandable a big table and cutting close to closing hour can be frustrating, however, the bombardment of the staff here was unfathomably rude. From the moment we came to the hostess stand we were told by the server, Im not happy about it, but Ill do it. A little annoyance is reasonable, but that was not the end of it. The bigger lady manager working this night also made a comment saying, We close in 30 minutes so you need to hurry and order as soon as you sit down. I was close to walking out at this point. We sat and our greeting was How are you? ... Im doing okay. I thought I was going home but- I will be sure to remember this for every time I decide to take my family out for a night to eat. I figured it would be a great opportunity for a big tip, but treating me as an inconvenience put me completely off my appetite. If this is the service we are going to be accomodated with I will not be making a visit here again. Im afraid I might inconvenience a worker to do their job.
You got to try it for yourself. Never had a bad thing to say yet!!! Try the cheese cake. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Service and waiter was quick, able to get in and out in 40 mins. Definitely a Tex Mex selection and inside atmosphere is nice. The fajita tacos had maybe 2 tablespoons of steak meat, severely under served. Flour tortillas were old. Wasn t impressed with the price of food and food served.

Teriyaki sauce and pineapple flavor on fajitas(trio). Fastest way to ruin fajitas, also not advertised on the menu. Don t expect the charro beans in the pictures. Expect cold thick bean stew with little to no beans. It was DEAD for a Friday night. Should have been my indicator to leave but the reviews seemed good. IT IS NOT. Go elsewhere. Atmosphere felt like a Chinese restaurant and was freezing. Waiter was good

I really use to love eating here...They changed their menu and I was gaslite by the staff. Saying the food hasnt changed. Looking at older photos they didnt have the sauce on the fajitas. Its like a teriyaki sauce that doesnt belong on fajitas. Beef was not skirt steak. It was thick and dry. I was offered to get something else. I just dont trust bringing food back, so I declined. It sucks that my birthday was ruined. Hopefully the owners will see this and go back to your original recipes and menu.

If ur looking for authentic mexican this is not it food was really bland got new chile verde enchiladas could only taste flour tortilla and nothing else even when covered in their nacho cheese our party was not happy with their food all their menu is americanized versions of mexican food

Amazing food and amazing service! Our server s name was Tracy and she was perfect, all smiles every time we saw her! Didn t miss a beat on the refills, checked on us and made sure we were good throughout the entire time we were there! If I could give more stars I would! We will definitely be going back and requesting her again as our server for date nights! Vegetarian options: I m not a vegetarian but I did notice they do have a large section for vegetarian dishes. Kid-friendliness: They offered us a sling as soon as they noticed we had a car seat with us! Even interacted with our baby!

Ive havent been here in some years to eat..but I loved it..the waiter named Rodney was extremely nice and on point w his services..Thank you Rodney!! I loved the quiet atmosphere..the Margarita was nice and mellowed. The food was amazing..we did receive our food in a timely manner..besides our tortillas..we literally had to wait at least 10 mins on our tortillas in order to eat what we had ordered (Fajitas). Other than that..we would definitely enjoy going back also I would recommend this spot to family and friends..thank you!!

Nothing about this place is good. The queso was gross. The beans had no flavor, like literally no salt. Rice no flavor. Fajitas also gross. The tortillas are store bought. Way overpriced for what you get. I really don t know how this place has so many 5 star reviews. Will definitely not be going back.

Very good place for family dinner, cozy atmosphere and very good service from its workers, do not come in a hurry since it is a very busy place and you can wait for about an hour to pass.
I love this place! Its one of my favorites! Any chance I get, I stop in! The food is great, and its always consistent. The servers are polite and efficient. If its not to busy, you will get seated promptly. Also not on the list below that I would recommend is the queso diablo. It is an appetizers and it is so good! Pedro was the best waiter!!!!!

The dishes are expensive considering this restaurant serves Tex-Mex. It s not authentic and for the price I paid for my dish, I don t even pay that for authentic Mexican food. The appetizers are good the server we had was great, as well as the drinks. The chicken fajitas I had were right out of a bag and not served with enough peppers and onions as it should. The atmosphere is nice but for what I paid, it should be more authentic.
