La Bodega Mexican Restaurant in Midland

We checked that they closed at 9:00, walked in at 8:35 and the girl got up walked away, said something g to someone at the bar and they slammed it closed. She walked away.. unbelievable. We ve been coming g here for years !!! Not anymore !! And we will tell everyone we know what happened.

Been eating there for years and the food has been great

Everything was amazing! Great food, great service, great atmosphere!

The food, drinks and customer service was excellent. The music from the bar area was way to loud with music lyrics that was very bad. I did say something about it and they turned down low since kids were in the dining area.

We went in to grab a quick bite to eat because we were at the funeral home next door for a funeral and the lady had the worst attitude ever!!!! So she heard my uncle say something about how someone that had nothing to do with the staff from a conversation we were already having so they decided to kick us out!!!!!! So we will not be going back again they need to teach people how to be professional if they don t like their job they need find a different profession!

The food is good here but out of the 4 times I have tried it, it has come out cold. The staff is also not very friendly and getting service often seems like a hassle for them.

Theyve been here a long time, and that in itself says something about the place.

Food used to be so much better

This is the best place in Midland. Highly recommended. The chilli relleno was superb. Service was great. A local favorite for sure.

Showed up, it took like 15 min for them to take my order. My order finally arrived and they gave me the wrong food. I ordered beef and they gave me chicken. I couldn t return it because I was on my lunch break and it took 30 min just to get my food the first time, plus no one came to check on me after the food was served.

Best shrimp cocktail I have had in midland! Perfect amount of spicy.

This place has gone downhill from the last time we were here. We used to get the largest order of nachos to share and always had leftovers. Today what we got was definitely not large and there was hardly any toppings or meat. Also, $9.50 for queso is just insane! I dont think we will be going back anymore.

The price they attempted to charge for a to-go order was 33% more than what is posted on their website. They said, Thats not our website, its the old owners yet they couldnt tell me what the correct website is. If you bought a business and dont know how to edit the website, thats on you. At least update your Google profile with the correct site. Or offer to price match one time. Instead, they lost the sale and a customer for life.

I had the Carne Asada here for lunch. The food was great and the environment as well. The restaurant is clean and the staff are friendly. Would come back again. Food

Staff is rude. Have to beg for refills. Overpriced. Menu in person vs. online menu is way different. Would not have gone with that price difference. Online fajitas $14.50, menu in person $20.00. and does not come with rice. That was an extra $3. .... Had one bloody mary and water with meal.. $35 for one person???? Bloody mary was $12, which was also overpriced for what I got. Also, charge a fee if not using cash.

My husband ordered beef and chicken fajitas. The beef was fine but the chicken was still raw in the middle. We told our server who supposedly told the manager. Instead of coming to talk to us to see how they could make it right, they just took off $4.66. 1-the manager should have come to talk to us and see how it could be made right. 2- $4.66 off is laughable. He didnt eat his whole plate or anything like that. He literally had 2 bites. His first was beef and it was fine, the second was chicken and thats when he noticed the chicken was raw. After that, he did NOT continue to eat from that plate. At MINIMUM it should have been half off if they were going to charge at all. We wonr be going back.

Petty of me, queso is better elsewhere. The fajitas were top notch though.

The food was good, but it didnt really stand out. Our waiter was rarely around, so it made refills/ordering drinks difficult. I would probably go again if invited, but I likely wont go out of my way to come back.

I wouldnt suggest this place at all... the margaritas were okay but like.. the food not that great its too white for me. Lol Im sorry.. I wish I would have noticed all the people sitting around me when we 1st walked in was majority white people even the server said their most customers is white people.. not many authentic Mexican food and just basic. Wasnt too thrilled the kicker is that youre 1st salsa and chips is free but the next batch is 2 bucks each... the heck?! Im not from midland just moved here so Ive been trying to find my go to mexican food spot havent found it yet. Open to suggestions.

They do get pretty busy. When you place a order to go it can get pretty crowded at the entrance. They had a new employee working at the door. Training she was doing good but was left alone where they were so busy. She was friendly

I remember coming to this restaurant wirh my parents when I was a kid, it was good then and still good now! I havent been here in a long time and suggested to the hubby that we eat here. The husband absolutely loved this restaurant!!! It was really good. I had the regular Mexican plate and my hubby had the large combination fajitas nachos. I wish I got to take pictures of our plates but we were so hungry when we got them, we just dug in. LoL He definitely wants to go again to try other menu dishes, so we will be back for sure.

Always great food. Usually great service. When they are super busy, they are not as attentive. Tables are a little too close together as they need the walkway to roll carts through.

Food was okay. Didnt care for their 3% charge for using a card. Mens room out of paper towels.

Went for an early dinner got seated right away and was excited. We got enchiladas and carne asada. The enchiladas came in a spaghetti-type tomato sauce. The carne asada was more of a ribeye steak than what I am used to for carne asada usually a skirt steak it came with a jalapeño carrots and was not used to it I usually have sourcream and guacamole so I asked for some no knowing this was a steak. No big deal I had some with my other food. I always expect a small upcharge for guacamole around 2-3$ but no this was $5.50!! And I was not informed at all for any upcharge and Ive always been asked if its alright had I would have known I would have said no. The server barely came by and we waited forever for refills. Only thing we absolutely lived was the jalapeño mozzarella sticks they were phenomenal. However that is the only thing we will ever get from here.

The best Mexican food We have found in Midland so far! The staff is super friendly & the food is delicious. Generous portions! Great chips & salsa! The quacomole is my husbands favorite! Definitely must try this place!

Me and my wife enjoy going upstairs. Yesterday the upstairs staff killed it with professional service. Great tip for great service.

My whole family has loved La Bodega and especially the chile rellenos for ever since I can remember! They have some unique takes on dishes that I dont see in other restaurants, but in a good way. We live far away now but anytime we go back to Midland we pack a cooler full of their food to take back with us. Definitely a unique restaurant in the area and one with a pretty long history (my great-uncle and family even helped fund their original opening wayyy back when, which was cool to learn)

Restaurant needs some cleaning staff very friendly but needs to have staff that understands and speaks better English

I had the burrito plate, and it made me sick as a dog! I waited to be seated,and the server came out and seated two people who came in after me. Restaurant was recommended, but Ill never return after this experience

Consistently the best for decades. Ive been thinking about a beef Rueda for some time, I dont live in Midland anymore but when I visit try to come to La Bodega. Nacho surpreme is wonderful, tasty salsa and chips. Great guacamole, and enchiladas. The food is fantastic, highly recommended.

The food is very bland, I had a michelada and it was gross. I don t recommend this place at all.

Go upstairs and order the pork chops..Never disappointed

The tortillas are store bought, not everybody minds though. Fajitas were good.

Have been coming here for decades, but over the past few years the food has become more bland and the service increasingly indifferent to providing a satisfying experience. I feel like they are taking the regular clientele for granted. During our last visit, not a single employee looked us in the eyes. Their attention was elsewhere whilst they went through the motions of perfunctory duties. Throw in the below average food and you have a recipe for mediocrity at best. I think Im done coming to La Bodega. There are dozens of better alternatives.

The food is always really good but its really hard to get service. We always sit in the greenhouse room, maybe thats why.. But rarely get a refill or if you forget to ask for something your better off getting up and asking the front desk then waiting...

I normally go to the Odessa location but had a change in mind and made the trip to Midland. Food was great and service was great. But the smell of cigarette smoke was noticeable as soon as I walked in. I didn t think much of it because I knew years ago(10+years ago) it was allowed but times have changed and it s non smoking in almost all restaurants. WRONG!!! Not here. They allow smoking and had about 3 different tables upstairs who were smoking. Soo if you don t want smoking make the trip to the Odessa location otherwise enjoy your food while inhaling other people cigarettes at the Midland location!!

Nasty food all around

Service was abrupt, food was cold straight out of the kitchen. Went with a work friend for a meeting, he was also upset how much he spent for cold food. Although the building and overall atmosphere was outstanding , I m pretty sure we just got unlucky today. From what people were talking about around us and from reviews it s a great place to visit and to try out, just for the short end of the stick this afternoon :(

I asked my husband to stop by this restaurant to order two burrito supremes with shredded chicken w/out cheese. I am allergic to dairy (read:epipen). He said the English speaking lady had trouble altering the order and asked for help. Cut to the chase, the burritos had cheese. Was this the order taker s fault or the kitchen staff s fault? I only know that I ate beans and rice dinner. We were staying in a hotel at the time so this was very disappointing.

Food was good, waitress was not super friendly, but the drink and chip server was quick and nice.

Delivery was prompt. Fajita beef and riblets were tough. Queso was just okay. For over $70 for 2 I expected better.

Vegetarian options: Not a place for vegetarians. They cook the spinach enchiladas with beacon. The restaurant should add veggie enchiladas, as they did make them as a special request for me because there were no vegetarian items available. The veggie enchiladas were really good, so I highly recommend it be added to the menu. The staff was awesome, very accommodating. Salsa was great but the queso did not stand out at all. The margaritas seem to not have much alcohol at all.

I went in the with expectations and I was wanting a good meal. I ordered the Large fajitas trio. I found the beef was to tough. Also everything thing tasted the same. It was kind of blain to meat. Also tortilla was store bought and had funny after test. The service was awesome but the quality of the food came under par. Was very disappointed to pay high cost on food.

Difficult to get checked out. But the fajitas were great , take home family pack fajitas, there was plenty of food and lots of fajitas meat, lots of places like to be stingy with the meat, not this place. But the heavy set Mexican girl working the register is not up to the job. Parking: I had a flat bed trailer and was still able to find parking spot. Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly

The food is not authentic Mexican or Tex-Mex. I dont even know how to describe what we presented to us. The service was fine, we were a big group to be fair but it was not horrible. The staff was nice and patient. The downfall is just the food.

This place has mostly good food. They changed the queso a few years ago. It use to be very good but now it is not. I dont get the queso here anymore because it is not good anymore. It is a shame because people use to go because they liked the queso so much. The service is good. They have clean restrooms. They do allow smoking in the bar. It does drift down the open ceiling and is offensive to non smokers. My husband will not go for that reason. But I do still go and enjoy.

Helped with a cousins birthday party in the private room. Service was a bit confusing and they took a while to bring out the food which was cold and just down right nasty. And to think they charge $600 for that food is simply outrageous. I would never use this room ever again and pay that ridiculous price.

Always love La Bodega. We have been going here since I was a kid. Always a fun and chill atmosphere. Good food and drinks. Upstairs is a bar where you can order food. You can still smoke inside if that bothers you the downstairs is a traditional restaurant with no smoking.

The Chile rellenos were excellent. Seafood enchiladas were very good. The Swirl was terrible. Chips and salsa were excellent.

Haven t eaten here in many many many years.. To start the salsa was VERY salty .. I ordered the cheese enchiladas! The corn tortillas were so hard on the bottom I could barely cut them, every bite of rice there was rice that wasn t cooked. The sweet tea was good but we won t be back unfortunately!

I love the food here, my favorite is the pineapple chicken salad on a hot day and the ruedas when I want something warm, of course they also have a really good chicken fried steak and I could go on and on. The only reason I didnt give them 5 stars is that they allow smoking upstairs and sometimes you can smell it when your sitting downstairs due to the big opening between the two floors above the fountain. If you sit in the patio area you dont smell it all but if there arent a lot of customers out there then it tends to feel like they have forgotten about you and dont come around as often. The only other down side is that they charge a 3.5% fee if you use a credit/debit card to pay and I dont always have enough cash with me to pay without using a card.

Omgosh! AMAZING! The food was all cooked right, the guac and sour cream come in the CUTEST taco bowl! The small nachos were HUGE & fed two people. The flutas were FULL end to end. The tacos were decent sized. Best Mexican Ive had outside of South Texas! 5/5 will eat here again.

They have the best tortilla chips. And the best sauce. Family atmosphere and good service. The installation is very original, it feels like you are in a garden under the shade. It is a nice experience to eat there.

Food Is Pretty Good However They Changed the Policy on Chips and Salsa first Round is Complementary Then After is 2$ For Chips and Also 2$ for Salsa It is a Shame because the Classic Chips and Salsa was our favorite.

We pull up at 8:20pm to eat google says they close at 9pm we go to get a table they put menus on the table and than we get told a lady has already closed the kitchen. What s the point of saying you close at 9pm if your closing the kitchen at 8:20pm might as well say y all close at 8:30pm. Keep in mind it was just my girlfriend and I. Not like it was some big table.

I got the tamale plate... The meat was dried out, and the corn covering was hard. They tasted like they had been over microwaved. On top of that, i ordered the full plate and only got 3. Honestly ive had really good meals here before, neumerous times for business lunches. But they should remove this from the menu.

Easier than cooat home

We have been coming here for years. We love the bar area upstairs and my friends and I have spent many an hour just chilling out with cold beer, great chips and salsa. There are several televisions placed in different corners for the sports watchers. Bartenders here have always offered great fast and friendly service. Chilley served us yesterday and was fantastic.

Might have given 3 stars, however; we ordered fajitas for two and got a fajitas for one. Waitress was like, well I put it in wrong, hope you re ok with it. Food was ok, what little there was of it.

Never been a fan of this place, but am forced to go to take out customers who have a lower culinary acceptance threshold.

This was my first time eating here in over 15 years. My mom brought me regularly when I was a child. The food was fast, fresh, and delicious. There was so much of it too! Very nice experience.

One of my all time favorite places to eat and it s almost like home. Very small quarters but homey never the less. Great place for small gathering or birthday party. Upstairs bar with open middle airy and very inviting. Tons of vegetation and smells of home that I never want to leave. One of midlands older establishments not really a new and upcoming hip place but still homey feeling never the less.
